Fantastic selection of cocktails, beer and wine. Knowledgeable, experienced and helpful staff will ensure you have a fantastic experience. The table service is quick and reliable and I have to try all the tasting menus next time I visit! Seating across 3 floors, great to bring dates, colleagues, friends and family for a intimate treat. The ambiance is soft and comfortable, room is well lit (rare for Melbourne) and a great environment for catching up with company.

Four of us dropped in early to 1806 for a few pre-dinner cocktails. The hostess was able to accommodate us on short notice. The atmosphere was great (currently themed as Rhythm and Booze). Great selection of both traditional cocktails as well as their own creations. I had the cherry bomb (from the "punk" selection) and then a Thunderstruck (from the "Rock" selection). Both were really good. We had the haloumi cubes as a snack which were nice and fluffy - went well with the drinks. All the staff were really good, especially the hostess. Definitely a place I'd go back to for drinks. Recommend you make a reservation.

Absolutely, stunning and comfortable bar... Getting you back in the ages with amazing cocktails and environment as well. The employees are so nice and kind people, you can't expect anything else. The prices looks normal as well. We went there to celebrate the birthday of one of my friends and she loved it. It's good for couples and also for big groups. Definitely, this became one of my favorites bars in Melbourne. Highly recommended for everyone. Thank for the great experience!

Credit to the owners here in creating a unique atmosphere unmatched by other bars and cocktail bars in Melbourne. Have a careful read of the menu full of stories and proverbs before ordering. Would recommend trying the specials that are written on the chalk boards next to the bar. Second floor is only open at the weekend. Wouldn’t expect any less from bartenders who started their career in Bramble, Edinburgh (Scotland).

I had heard tales of this place, and finally got the chance to go. Authentic cocktails, crafted by talented mixologists. The setting is a proper lounge with lush decor. There is a serious cocktail menu as well as a long whiskey menu that can take you on a trip through history right around the world. Tasting journeys are also available. Bookings are recommended.

There is such a huge selection of cocktails that it's both super impressive and really hard to make a decision. Lucky that while my date was super decisive on exactly what he wanted, the bar staff, Carlos, sat next to me, asked me some really potent questions on what I preferred and made a really really cool custom cocktail for me which tasted heavenly!!!! Visited on a Monday night and really enjoyed the ambience of the venue. Extremely knowledgeable bartenders serving a wide variety of cocktails from different times and ages, which really showcases the true creativity behind mixing cocktails. The menu, from a purely functional perspective, is a little thick to get through, especially as someone who is new to the cocktail scene, although I've been told that they will be switching to a more streamlined menu soon. That being said, reading the menu is an experience in itself, as it felt like I was reading a storybook rather than a menu (I did feel bad for taking nearly 15 minutes to order). My cocktail was very well made and small modifications were made very much to my liking. Will definately be coming back!

For people complaining that it's busy, get real, it's a bar. I'd you don't like it busy go on any night but Friday or Saturday. It's a great space with a great cabaret history. While the cabaret is gone, the theatre of the night remains while you sir at the bar and watch the bartenders make their magic. Some of the best cocktails in the city in a room that makes you swoon.

We sat upstairs for the first time and then went downstairs to the computer to pay where we normally do, with one of the staff running down the stairs to for our payment. I booked a cocktail class here for my best friend's hens night and I've got to say, it did not disappoint. It was interesting and definitely a lot of fun. They cater to different tastes too. For example, one of the cocktails that you get to make is an espresso Martini but a couple of girls and I in our group don't drink coffee, so they were happy to switch the option for just us three to a Charlie Chaplin instead which was delicious. Our bartender was Marc and he was fantastic. Really engaging with the group and especially our bride-to-be. Great ambiance - service and time. Me and my partner came here on a gift card for the Fine Drams. We were excited to taste the whiskeys and some canapés. When we arrived we were brought upstairs and it was quite busy with groups of people. We were greeted by our server who communicated to us right away that he would be with us shortly - which was great transparency. It was quite loud as the groups were next to us but we were wiling to be patient due to our gift card. We were also distracted by the decor which was fascinating. Michael was very lovely - great presence, great knowledge. The only downside was that the group next to us was quite loud, but that's inevitable, we had a hard time hearing Michael but then they slowly left and it was great to hear what he had to say and we learned tremendously about Whiskeys. I had a great time with my partner - as it was our date night and I thought that Michael was attentive to all our questions and I could see that he truly enjoyed his job. I've been to a lot of places in the city as I've worked in the industry and can definitely see myself coming back for a few cocktails and a chat to my friends. Thank you for such a great time!

My partner and I had reserved a table on Saturday November 14th. I was delayed at work and we were running late for our reservation. Both my partner tried to call to confirm that we were coming and not to give away our table. Unfortunately your phone system still goes straight to a voicemail that states that the bar is still closed due to covid. We were 20-25 minutes late and by the time we had arrived our table had been given away. The young lady who greeted us was so professional and pleasant. It was such a shame that the phone system had not been updated. We hope to return at some point when we next come to the city.

A great cocktail venue with competitive modern prices and delicious authentic drinks from various places in time, 18o6 is well worth a stop-in. The bar is beautifully set out with a cosy speakeasy design. There is a huge selection of cocktails available, each presented in their own special type of glass. My partner and I came here as part of our weekend (albeit during the week) away in the city for our 2 year anniversary. The atmosphere as always was magnificent and the staff were professional and polite to begin with and then warm and friendly after we had a chance to chat with them all. Still the only bar in Melbourne that never fails me with a great Old Fashioned, our brilliant Irish bartender left us feeling very much at ease with our decision to go "dealers choice" on all of our cocktail choices for the night and we were not disappointed. For the first round we ordered a old fashioned and a dirty martini, it took a while ( it was Saturday Night at 10 pm), the cocktails were perfect. For the second round we tried “the zombie” a fruity and gentle cocktail. And the last one that we tried was a hot cocktail ( the last one in the hot drinks list), it is a beautiful cocktail with a strong first hit and smooth after you keep it in your mouth. Our waiter was an amazing guy, always attentive and happy to explain the concept of the bar and the cocktails. We were amazed with the bartender and their skills to make the cocktails! Congrats guys!... we are definitely coming back.

Great place...it used to be better before it became crazy busy. It's quite loud when it's busy, it that could have been the hens groups there the last time I went. It is dark, luxurious and gorgeous inside. The staff are great. The cocktails list is extensive and unique. The drinks are at a premium price. About $20 per simply mixed cocktail.

This bar is jaw dropping in its style, presentation, and selection of drinks. The wall behind the bar stacked to roof with all different sorts of alcohol is simply incredible. Worth a visit even just see the bar setup. On top of that, the place feels warm and cosy, full of a lot of historical decorations. 1806 is one of my long time favourite cocktail bars in Melbourne. They have a great selection of rare, unique and interesting spirits and create some of the best cocktails in town. The venue has a nice relaxed vibe and the crowd is typically quiet and chilled. It’s a great place to meet for a date, catch up with friends or celebrate with a bit of style. Don’t be scared to ask the bar tender for their recommendation based on your pallet. Seriously, don’t go in and just order a beer, there’s so much other good stuff to try!

Be prepared for a dark atmosphere when you visit here. When you walk in the door the staff will direct you to a table, followed by water and menus. The staff will come to the table to grab your drink requests and don't leave you waiting for long. The cocktails were delicious with a reasonably large menu to choose from.
