Lovely bar, my new favorite spot for drinks with friends. I instantly felt safe and welcomed here, felt like I could be myself in a lovely setting. The atmosphere is great, awesome music, couches and drinks!

If I had to sum up the quintessential Melbourne bar—the Blackcat is it. There is always a chill vibe. The staff are always great and the patrons are nice to be around. What's more, it has good light year 'round I hope it never changes. Ever. Like not in a million billion years.

Went for the first time yesterday and what a gorgeous afternoon spot! We were able to sit in sun and enjoy our drinks, while listening to excellent music and chat. Beautiful atmosphere with a reclaimed furniture vibe and incredibly friendly and helpful staff. Nice lazy afternoon with black cat. Wonderful place to chill out and become part of the 60’s hippie era. Interesting selection of music make you forget where you are for a moment. Coffee.... not the main focus of this cafe.

The coffee is served only until 5, but the vibe is just amazing! Full of colours, nice staff, very polite and friendly, felt like a bedroom from childhood times, the posters in the walls takes you decades back to 80s, and even the toilets are full of drawing and colours. Very nice seating and vibe around the place. Beers were good and not too expensive. The barista was a chirpy and nice bloke. Sadly the female bartender was quite cold and rude when we ordered and upon cleaning our table. Definitely left a sour taste in our mouths. Other then that, a lovely place without doubt.

Best coffee in Fitzroy! We had a latte and and a flat white with oat milk and it was the perfect coffee experience. The taste as well as the feeling were the best we‘ve ever had. A must-visit for coffee lovers. And the place is super cute too, with a DJ and nice spots same inside and outside.

The place has changed little in the last 15 years (although it's quite different from what it was 20 years ago). There are nice soft couches to sink into, and big windows that look out onto Brunswick Street. I like the simple menu, and my chicken wrap was very good.

Amazing cocktails, cozy couches inside and lovely low lighting outside. Great service, quite a few characters working here and there’s usually a DJ pumping chill tunes! During the day it’s a cafe but I’ve never been that early.

I love this place so much. The staff are so funny and nice. Always a good vibe here, whether your mood is cocktails, beers or a chai latte, catching up with mates or writing in the corner by yourself.

Been coming here for donkeys years. Love the outdoor beer garden and in winter, staring out onto Brunswick St through the cozy front bar windows. Pizza was on the house last time I was in. Security can be a bit overbearing. Hire some friendlier goons!!

The Black Cat is the perfect place for reading, studying, meeting friends, having coffee, afternoon drinks, a night out, and a hungover morning at. From the young to the very old generation (a grandpa was there as well to have some fun which is great, open to all). I loved the music selection as well. At around 7ish a dj also started a cool chill out section which was just perfect with the sunset light going through the window. Overall great night

I woke shaken like a goddamn maraca on fiesta night at puerto vallarta beach. The bar girl had spiked my drinks the night before but i couldn't remember if i'd given her the ok. There was no telling now. The sun was angry for Melbourne; the fiery old girl finding a way to mess with me through my shades at obtuse angles. I still had my feet though, and they set about navigating the turds and trash on brunswick street until i recognised a faint tune and looked up. The passage was clear between plush couches and booth the to the barista. Her smile was just as pleasant as her disposition, and the coffee shot straight to the right vein.
