Just wow! This place came highly recommended and it certainly goes above and beyond. The cocktail list is almost endless and they are all perfectly made, highly recommend the Cafelini for those that love their Espresso Martini. The food is easily in the top tier of Australian, with every dish packed full of flavour. Do yourself and your taste buds a flavour and have a long meal here, you will love it!
K. T.
Cannot slam the 5 star button hard enough. The food was delicious, despite me not usually being a fan of Thai food. The drinks were fantastic, and the staff were 10/10. Constantly being on top of topping up our water, and just having a cheery attitude in general.
P. C.
Truly 5 Star Experience!!
One of the best tasting Thai food that I can remember. All our dishes well exceeded our expectations and all of us were fully gratified by the experience.
They have amazing and courteous people too.
N. H.
Always so good! Food is spectacular and service is super fast. Cocktails are pretty special too.
S. L.
Dined for dinner, we shared the whizz fizz chicken sticks, beef & ginger dumplings, Thai sausage & pork skewers in betel leaf. All the food was delicious, our fav was the whizz fizz chicken sticks. I also had a couple of lychee martinis which were delicious also. Service friendly.
V. M.
Had an early booking after a show at the Comedy Theatre. Glad we did as it was pumping when we left. The staff members were super friendly and delightful. Love the multitude of menus and the help we got when they were a bit overwhelming. Ended up with Pash Rash and Bend the Knee to drink. DIY betel leaves, whizz fizz chicken, pad Thai -!: the fried al egg and pork belly salad. All delicious but whizz fizz chicken a winner.
S. C.
Probably one of the best Asian fusion cuisine in Melbourne and the amazing quirky interior. Can't ever get enough of most of the dishes. The pork in Betal leaf is a must try.
L. R.
Beautiful place, from the bar to the tables and the design to the roof sitting upstairs its amazing to chill out with friends and have drinks i loved it and you feel it's cozy. The staff on the bar are nice as well
H. L.
Food is well presented and very interesting with the fusion. Good spot to take colleagues or friends for a feed.
J. L.
Every dish was amazing and did not disappoint (drunken noodles, scallops, garlic soy chive dumplings, chicken green curry) and a very extensive cocktail menu
C. D.
This place has a nice and cozy vibe. The hosts are friendly and service is quick.
We ordered the Pash Rash and Mai Tai which both tasted good.
The Betel Bliss Bombs were great with such amazing flavor! The Penang lamb curry was very well balanced with the lamb cooked to perfection. The only exception being the ribs which were a tad bit overcooked and didn't taste that great (probably because the bliss bombs and penang curry were really good)
Overall, Cookie has been a good experience. The ambience and music is nice and hosts are very friendly. Would definitely visit this place again
R. A.
Came here on a Thursday night and though it was busy, we managed to get a table. Staff seemed busy and were not very attentive. Had a betel leaf starter which was delicious, but then a huge wait for mains. Also one drink didn’t come for ages, and we struggled to flag staff down to remind them. We had to remind two staff before it came. It was quite a pricey meal for what it was.

Foods as good-or better- as Chin Chin and without the lines around the street. One of my great regrets of going vegetarianism I'll never again get to savour the Fat Duck Noodles. Enough to make me start questioning those life choices now I come to think of it...
T. O. M.
The restaurant is on the first floor of curtain house. Easy to find and locate.
The restaurant wasn't crowded so it had enough seating areas. I loved the ambiance, the colors they've used, and the lighting.
The staff was amazing, very friendly and very helpful. It was very hot and sunny day but they made sure to take necessary actions to keep the place cool.
We ordered Padthai egg noodle with extra chicken. The food was good and the given quantity was more than enough for two people to share. To make it spicy they have added some chili flakes in the corner of the plate which I did not appreciate much. It would have given separately as salt and pepper or mix it with the noodles. Other than that food was good.
E. L.
Had a lovely experience here on a Sunday night, ordered a couple of small and medium sized dishes with frozen daqiris and they were delicious. Waiters were friendly and enthusiastic
S. K.
The Cookie does have one of the biggest beer selections in Melbourne. In theory! The first four beers we ordered were out of stock. Based on that I have to say that their beer menu is more fake and show than real. In the end we got a normal beer from tab. Anyway, we also ordered food and it was great! We ordered the pork platter (around $38), the seafood platter ($59) and a few smaller dishes and were not disappointed. Good selection, descent amount and yummy flavour. So we can recommend it. However, don't expect the food to be delivered quickly. It's a busy place on a weekend.
T. D.
This place is both interesting and delicious. I loved the cohesive attire from the staff, bowties and ties. The unique combination of the decor - covered in classic children’s books and the fusion Thai food made for a unique experience. We had a very large group and they accommodated us with a menu to share. We didn’t do a lot of drinking, but the bar looked well equipped and I can confidently say you’d be served a very good cocktail here as well. The food was great, the staff was kind and the atmosphere was unique! A definite place to
Check out!
J. B.
Our waitress was lovely and attentive. Good value for money and all of the small share plates we ordered were delicious.
K. S.
The food here is consistently amazing. Recently revisited to try a few dishes with duck, chicken and soft shell crab (all to share with rice serve for 2), and it was so good, even though we were full, we kept shooing away the server's trying to clear the table because it was too good to waste no matter how long it was going to take us to finish! It's really loud - good for when you're wanting the liveliness and don't mind a bit of yelling, but bad if you're wanting a nice place to chill and talk. They have an in house deejay playing upbeat music. No surcharge on credit cards. Bookings advised.
V. S.
Decent feed, great cocktails.
B. T.
Amazing food and a great range of beers
take a seat on the balcony and watch the world go by .
J. V.
Amazing food & cocktails. Great place for group gatherings. Great atmosphere too. Highly recommend
K. M.
Locate "Curtin House" street level and on the entire Level one (above the street level) is a restaurant titled "COOKIE." Has a single elevator to serve entire building, faster to use the stairs. Has a bar if you're early or just want a quick beverage while waiting to meet friends. This restaurant serves family style meaning your ordering "plates" in small, medium and large of the unique and creative designed dish. Seems the food theme is Asian influenced. Depending on the ingredients of the dish, the price varies even among the same size plate. When busy (6pm-10pm), gets difficult to carry a conversation as its loud 🔊 food tasted great! Enjoy your foodie adventure here. . . .
J. N.
A special treat for me, the food never disappoints.
As a single diner, I always choose from the Small Dishes menu. This time: Fish dumplings with cucumber pickle; Cabbage rolls filled with shiitake mushroom, bean curd and peas. Dessert: My usual fave the Warm tapioca, sweet corn and young coconut pudding with house-made mango sorbet. 🥭
Small dishes are great to taste or share à la tapas. Prices are reasonable for quality cuisine and quantity.
Thai fusion style (refer to the website).
Recommend booking for a romantic two-person experience in the balcony alcoves on a warm day or night. Overlooking the Swanston Street buzz through open green trees.
Book online or telephone between 9+7. Most days around lunchtime you can walk in and get a good table.
J. B.
Service was friendly and helpful. Cocktails delicious and everyone enjoyed their meal.
L. Y. X.
a wonderful experience with my cookie at cookie 😆 😆 thanks for him to bring me here and meeting his friends. food on the menu is really asian cuisine and i can’t really handle that well as a malaysian ( sorry to said that 😝 ) but taste really good and yum if you can take it
t.
Came in for a pre dinner snack, and got a table straight away.
Food and service as good as always, even though it had been a few years. Can’t fault this place, so tasty!
A. C.
Fantastic meal. A very wide selection Asian-inspired dishes with delicate flavours complementing each other. An extravagant wine list to ensure that all tastes are accommodated and a beautifully designed decor ensure all visitors feel welcome. The service was friendly and efficient and would highly recommend it.
S. B.
Stopped in for a light lunch and a few drinks. The staff were knowledgeable and friendly. The wine list and beer choice was extensive. Loved the decor and atmosphere were great.
Food was tasty and simple. Would definetly recommend 😁
M. H.
Eaten here a lot of times and it's always very nice plus they have a big selection of beers as well as tap beers they mix up regularly. There's also a big selection of cocktails. Went for lunch most recently and we tried to have a few things we hadn't tried before. The snapper, red curry, coconut & basil custard and the egg noodles, curried chicken & picked cabbage were both very good. Cookie has managed to maintain a high standard for a long time and is worth checking out if you haven't been before.
B. S.
Great craft beer bar on 1st floor. Not obvious from the street level/ frontage!! This 1st floor bar also hosts a comprehensive Thai food menu. Little outdoor balconies along the 1st floor bar offer privacy.
T. G.
This place is incredible! It's the whole package. Great staff, atmosphere, food and cocktails.
R. L.
Great energy, giant menu and a kitchen full of Thai speaking chefs, this is one Melbourne institution not to be missed! The drinks menus is a phone book but the staff are expertly educated in all things alcohol and food related. The building is a one stop shop for entertainment, food and fine wine. Enjoy.
E. H.
Absolutely delicious food, a great menu. Me and a friend shared 3 starters and one main, we left very full. The staff were also lovely and friendly. Would recommend and already want to go back!
P. L.
Arrived later on a Thursday night and stumbled past this place at first! Luckily a spare table available and after some hesitation from the server we were seated.
Service was friendly but a bit scattered. Forgot drinks, then cutlery. But very apologetic!
We love Thai food and any fusion variations normally, but just wasn't feeling it for the dishes we selected. Flavours didn't really match the expectations and price. But will return next time we're in Melbourne to see if it was our dish choices to blame.
f. g.
Great Australian take on Thai dishes. Very authentic and tasty. Good selection of cocktails, beers and wine. The Barramundi fish dish was particularly good.
A. T.
The food was nice but I expected a higher quality to justify the price. The table service was extremely average. We had a 7pm-9pm sitting and couldn’t get staff to seat us and take a drink order until after 7.30pm to which we were abruptly kicked off the table before hardly finishing the meal at 9pm. Staff were overrun and inattentive. Overrated.
B. P.
Don't lose faith!! You can find it :)
Such a nice little stop and so many choices. It was two of us and we split the meals to get a good sampling. We will certainly be back.
Highly recommend the wizzy fizzy chicken. There are so many choices and everyone had different palates.
Come hungry
M. F.
Great beer, wide selection of spirits and the biggest cocktail list you’ve ever seen - literally a book - including a seasonal cocktail menu.
Quiet, moody atmosphere, perfect for a relaxing evening. There’s even a few tiny smoking balconies. Definitely check it out if you’re in the area!
Pictured: watermelon warhead cocktail
M. M.
Bustling atmosphere, great food (lamb panang and seafood platter were amazing), and above all, extensive craft beer list, which is hard to find in the CBD! Also, the bartenders and servers were great!
K. T.
The intense red lighting doesn’t make for great pictures but the food is what you’re here for, they can mess with the lighting color all they want.
The winners are the pad Thai, red curry pork belly and seafood plate/platter. One of the best modern Thai food spots you’ll find.
W. S.
Exceptional service and excellent food. Have very nice vegan and vegetarian options.
J. H.
Wow! What an incredible evening! Food was simply amazing and the service impeccable.
Six stars 🌟 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
J. A.
I have been to Cookie for years - almost every time I go to Melbourne - and I always seem to forget how good it is! The cocktails, atmosphere, wine selection and food are all amazing... and the staff always chilled and into what they do. Be it a crazy busy Friday night or a chilled early week snack, love going here!!!!!
A. W.
We went here for a dinner, and while the staff were amazing and the ambiance was lovely, we both left agreeing it was not worth the money to go again.
For the portion and drink sizes and food quality, we both felt prices were on the high side.
While both dishes tasted nice, the chicken and cashew was only warm and the batter soggy, it felt it was not freshly cooked.
We could have easily gone to our local Thai place and had bigger and as tasty servings for a lot cheaper.
Coconut rice and the peanut sauce with the roti were our highlights.
J. E.
Blown away by how impressive this bar is ! Was recommended to us by a friend and was not disappointed. Great atmosphere, and friendly, knowledgeable, helpful staff that make killer cocktails - we’ll be back ! Check this place out if your in Melbourne :)
M. W.
The food was sensational but what made me fall in love with Cookie was the outstanding staff and the humor used throughout the course of incredible plates of food. Laughter is good food for the soul and I look forward to returning. The location was also unique and friendly. Loved it. I must return.
S. W.
Great team lunch venue with super delicious green curry. Always great for a shared experience if you can, otherwise limit yourself to the medium sized plates plus rice.
D. M.
Brilliant food, generous serving!! A very appealing ambience!!
J. L.
Truly delicious food, a big menu to choose from, great atmosphere and wonderful service. Dishes we love: scallops, quail, pork belly, silken tofu, tapioca and corn in creamy coconut, and panacotta with strawberries and liqueur.
J. T.
Fantastic food, especially for those looking for something orientally influenced, and even more so for those seeking a spicy feed. The flavours are always incredible here, and while the servings may lack in size they more than make up for it in their quality and care. The service is also always top notch. The ambience is groovy yet comfortable. Heck, even the bar is a winner. Try to get a balcony seat on a pleasant evening and you'll have the best time of all.
S. C.
Great service. Very busy but got our meal quickly and was so delicious. No bad words for this place. I accidentally booked for next month but they still managed to find us a table thank goodness!
Y. P.
Good variety of alcohol, food is fantastic, good atmosphere and environment overall, would recommend for a date or family alike
C. M.
First visited this place 10 years ago. Loved the vibe so decided to come back. It was as it was 10 years ago. It hadn’t aged at all. Clean tidy not run down. Friendly service. And these tapioca dumplings are the bomb. I had a pear cocktail too which was recommended by the waitress. Delish
A.
The chilled out ambience, brilliant food and great vibe come together beautifully. However the highlight are really the wonderful staff - warm and friendly yet professional and efficient, they will make you feel at home quickly.
Tip: It's not easy to secure a table normally but these days, with covid challenges just behind us, you could get lucky. So give it a try even if you're close to the date and you might just get lucky!
T.
Had a fantastic experience here - we booked a birthday for a friend and were looked after superbly. Had one of the best nights in a long time. Food, drink and service was on point. THANK YOU!
PS- I accidentally left a 1 star review...do NOT know how that happened?
H. a.
Staff are all focused on customer service. As soon as I walked in one staff member handed me a pint of asahi and asked if I wanted a beer on the house. Staff continued to make sure we were having a fun time throughout the night and the drinks and food were of the highest quality.
M. N.
Located in a cool building with impressive range of alcohol. Food is only average, but the barramundi is a star. Good vibes from staff :)
B. C.
Great bar, can't wait to go back
S. L.
We came here for drinks only on Sunday afternoon. Staff were so friendly and happy to accommodate us a walk in group of 4.
We all ordered bloody Mary's and were delighted that they could tailor the spice level to our individual preferences.
When they arrived, we were told the incorrect spice levels - it was a bit of a mess. The waitress offered to add Tabasco to fix the issue but we didn't want to make a fuss.
Upon drinking the cocktail, they tasted amazing. But we were definitely short changed with what you get. It was $22 for a bloody Mary which is fine, but the tall glass fools you into thinking you're getting a huge amount, when in fact it thins out at the bottom very quickly and you get less than what you would in a cup of coffee.
Overall, great customer service and tasty cocktail, but it is not worth the price.
A. M.
Great Thai food and an awesome selection of beers.
D. C.
The food here is amazing!
Be warned it can quite a bit of heat so choose carefully. The staff are great with helping you navigate the menu.
They have a very comprehensive wine list and an incredible amount of international beer on tap.
Pro Tip: Cookie has to be one if the loudest bars/dining venues in Melbourne. Even the dining in the dining room is challenging to hear people at the same table. You can sit out side in the private balconies and they have a great view of Swanson Street. You can also use the area at the back of the main bar, it can be a little hidden but is still inside and much quieter.
E. H.
Service was lovely, the bartender even made us custom cocktails (and we needed out about the Witcher and Skyrim which is always a win in my books!). The food was absolutely amazing ad always. 😌
R. L.
Yum yum and yummy! Food is amazing! Drinks are amazing! Staff was amazing! Thank you guys xx
G. S.
Varied beer selection, big, comfortable space with friendly, knowledgeable staff.
T. M.
Lunchtime visit, staff were attentive and friendly, food was really nice also. Really enjoyed the mussels especially. Only issue was a one drink and one meal we ordered was unavailable.
A. S.
Nice location with friendly service , perfekt chill music and yummi cocktails.
C. T.
An absolute delight. My tastebuds were dancing. The decor is charming, a great use of space. The food was delicious, flavours popping all over the show. Staff were wonderful, attentive and thorough but not pestering. I must note that all the staff, from floor to kitchen were genuinely happy. I love that! So great to see chefs having a great time, no wonder the food was so great. A huge variety of drinks, great wine compendium (calling that a "list" would be a dishonor). Thank you all for a wonderful night
N. G.
Cool bar / restaurant that isdefinitely worth seeing. Is definitely go back to try some more of their Thai food!
K. E.
Lovely dinner; great good and service! Even an American couple with finicky palettes were happy. Menu is a bit overwhelming at first, but upon closer inspection, there are a great assortment of dishes for those of us with less refined palettes to those of us who are a bit more adventurous. Well done!
G.
Lovely building, over priced cocktails but interior design and ambience are okey so you won’t mind it.
Definitely check out the roof top bar too. (I guess it’s another bar not cookie but it’s on the same building)
A. E.
Amazing staff who were taking mask usage seriously and having everyone sign in. It was well run and felt very COVID safe without ruining the ambiance. Cocktails were amazing. Food was amazing.
B. S.
amazing. Had been to chin chin the week before and this was honestly better. Every dish was so flavoursome and fresh, in particular the deep fried snapper and soft shell crab curry. Cocktails are inventive yet still have that classic edge without being too sweet. Nice decor and service was fine but not exceptional.
K. S.
Good bottle craft beer selection here (foreign and domestic)
K. W.
The food and drinks were delicious! The service was also great. The tapioca dumplings, pad thai and green curry were all very yummy! Ben was our waiter and made several helpful suggestions. We will definitely be back!
A. M.
Great food, energetic waiter who knew what he was talking about! Great service loved the venue. Cheers!
D. R.
Great atmosphere. Food and drinks on point. Service is outstanding. Will surely be back.
J. R.
Outstanding food, delicious cocktails and if you cant find a wine from the 83 page wine list there just isn't a wine for you!
N. P.
Cookie is a dependable favourite for introducing new folks to Melbourne over great Thai, or just having a quiet drink on the balcony. It's a Melbourne institution.
s. s.
Ambience was very good with various style of sitting arrangement to cater from couple to large group. In addition they have vegetarian options as well.
A. M.
Was invited to a work dinner here and had the banquet. The food was absolutely amazing, with great fresh ingredients that was absolutely bursting with flavour. Our waiters were interactive, engaging and attentive.
This is one of the better restaurant quality meals I have had and will be back.
K. K.
Nice tasting food with a good selection of cocktails. Prices for food is a bit high but the restaurant side can seat bigger groups. The bar is cool to sit at and chill. Spirits are the way to go here but they do have a selection of beers on tap.
A. O.
The food was really really good and even the service (we sat in the self-serve-section) was still really good. We had a lovely waitress still giving us advise after asking for her recommendations which was spot on. Only giving 4 instead of 5 stars because the cocktails where really bad. Like really really bad and we had three different ones. I would most definitely recommend this place for food and beer/wine but stay away from the cocktails
E. M.
Cool place with yummy food. The service was very slow and not great (hence the 4 stars). We sent back our calamari dish because it was so tough we couldn't even cut it with a knife. They didn't charge us for it so that was good.
S. N.
Cookie's ambience is lovely, however the food was not very tasty. It was pricey too.Their drinks are really good. The staff are friendly and engaging but I had to approach the bar tender n ask him where my table was as no one came up to me. I would recommend Cookie to others for their drinks and ambience but not so much for food.
L. M.
I always enjoy going to Cookie. Great atmosphere with an array of beers on tap, great cocktails and wines. The food is delicious!
If you are a large group or small, booking or spontaneous, Cookie caters for all.
We enjoy going there for a relaxing afternoon drink as well as having a great social dinner with friends.
K. B.
Amazing service, cocktails and food. We had some very challenging dietaries that were not advised in advance by our group and the fabulous team member who looked after us and chef were extremely accommodating. Very much appreciated! Highly recommended :)
T. K.
Wow, okay! Let’s just start and say the service is amazing. They are so wonderful and kind, with a smile on their face all the time. Such an amazing atmosphere. Food is a bit pricey but you get what you pay for.
D. S.
A great place for a drink and a casual meal. We sat in the bar area by the open windows and enjoyed the evening sun as it came through the trees outside. The cocktails were great, the staff were friendly and helpful and I can't recall having a Thai meal that was as good. The flavours were simplicity perfected and thoughtfully presented. I'll definitely be back next time I'm in Melbourne.
J. C.
Great selection of beers, absolutely HUGE selection of wines. Staff were all super friendly and helpful. Didn't manage to have time to stay for any food. But will be looking forward to tasting what's available on the menu
s. h.
great food. quite pricey but considering it’s a hype place you would expect so. friendly waiters/waitresses. but omg the music was loud (music is my job and i love it, but i enjoy having a nice conversation with my friends more when going out to catch up). shame we can’t take away the food if we haven’t finished it (hope it doesn’t go to waste!)
O. D.
Amazing Thai food with the biggest drinks list I’ve ever seen! Portion sizes are very generous and reasonably priced, so would suggest trying a few small and medium dishes rather than 1 large dish.
J. H.
Food was quite good, with an great variety of tasty dishes! Desert didn't do it for me so much. Insanely good range of drinks, wine menu is a small book. Toilets were a bit dirty and not very nice
E. A.
You must go here if you're in Melbourne! The food is absolutely delicious. The staff are all so lovely and helpful - we had Liam - who calmly helped us order from an overwhelming (but yummy) menu! Cookie is in a super cool building complex. Be sure to check out the rooftop bar on floor seven too.
B. F.
Went on Saturday night with parents for a birthday dinner. Beautiful space and great atmosphere. Where is was let down was the waiter. Totally overbearing and way too salesy. We ended up ordering too much food for 4 with not enough room on the table. Having a couple of hundred wines on your wine list is great but a little over kill and then to be asked 4 times by different wait staff for the wine order. Relax guys! Food was great but the waiter guy spoiled the night. Not great when you spend $400+ for 4 people.
G. K.
Come for the food, stay to try three beers on the drinks menu you didn't know existed. Great ambience with friendly staff who take Covid rules seriously.
A. R.
Great food and cocktails. Roti with chicken rendang and sour pork egg nest were delicious!
L. G.
One of the best meals I’ve had period! Everything about the place is perfect - ambiance, friendly waitstaff, delicious cocktails, and every item on the menu is to die for. Favorite restaurant in Melbourne. Get the pork belly red curry!!
r. a.
A great place to unwind with amazing cocktails. A special mention to Taz, our bartender who honestly went above and beyond to make sure we understood the cocktail menu and made some fantastic recommendations. Thank you Taz for adding that little bit extra to our experience! There should be more bar tenders like you!
H. F.
Could not love this place more. With so many floors and each one has a different feel to it. The cocktails are slightly pricey for completely worth it. The roof top has great views, although it takes some effort getting up there especially after a few drinks!! We had a lemongrass and chilli margarita and it was divine!
A. A.
Loved it! Food was great and a came out fast for a Saturday night but prices are a tad on the high side. Staff where super friendly, beers and cocktails where also awesome but there was a better range of craft beer last time I visited. That said we will be back...
S. R.
Service was fast but also very average. Requested a wine list before our main...they didn't even bother asking me on what I decided. Food was fine, but not exceptional. Been here, done that, wouldn't go back!
M. A.
Perfect place to stop by for catch up social with drinks and small share plates. Had the pleasure of catching some sun on their balcony tables. Very good customer service, friendly and knowledgeable of menu and cocktail service. Their old fashioned and chicken rendang roti were my favourite, highly recommended. Definitely will return.
A.
Loved the atmosphere. Warning, loud.
Got the banquet and couldn't finish it, so much food. Highly recommend
R. J.
The wine and beers lists can captivate you for an entire visit. So much relevant information!
The food was pretty good, bar is huge and service is decent although the new guy tried to memorise our order and we got a lucky dip dish that we didn't order, still tasted great so won't complain, maybe it was his way of giving us a recommendation ;)
A. W.
Best Thai food I've ever had. Very busy and noisy the night I went but the food and service was excellent.
C. J.
Great food!! A must try! Also a bit hidden away because it’s tucked away upstairs! Food and atmosphere is great! They get really busy so bookings are recommended!
N. M.
Cookie is fabulous. Great food, great service, great atmosphere. The green papaya salad and the steamed muscles are amazing.
