Wonderful vibe, friendliest staff and lovely drinks. The cocktails are slightly higher than other places I've visited but worth it in my opinion. We had the Vegan pizza and we've still got leftovers a day later not only because of the taste that we're trying to savour but because of the fabulous size lol. Go for the music, the vibe and meet the nicest people.

Fun place , Rockstar staff !! I was there the other weekend and got wasted and as we left I felt sick then security guard with glasses saw me he literally brought me and my boyfriend in and. offered water looked after me and even gave me a slice of pizza and a coke ..I have never seen any security guard like this before .. will be coming back for sure 👌

Really nice pizza at a very reasonable price. Although it took 30 mins for a 10 mins pizza to arrive, which given the crowd there is understandable. But whats not understandable is the security keen on pushing us out because the place was about to close. Given the delay in serving pizza was at their end, atleast the security could have spared us the courtesy of 5 mins to let us eat it. But no, his answer was “its not my problem where you eat this, but you got to leave now”. That was very unfriendly behaviour jackass.

Don’t blink otherwise you will miss this quirky little dive bar walking by! You definitely cannot judge this book by its cover because when you see inside it will surprise and delight you with everything it has on offer including the solid tap beer and cocktail lineup, the jukebox with 100 rock albums for you to chose from, the dark decor without being OTT and the super friendly staff. A really cool place to chill out where you can escape the outside world and forget what time it is by playing a game of pool, listening to music - that isn’t too loud - and enjoying a slice of pizza while admiring the pictures scattered around the place. Not only is it a verified venue on Untapped, you are able to take away your favourite alcohol until 11pm!

Awesome place. What makes it so good are the great bar staff and even better security. Always seem welcoming, even when your a rowdy group of dudes, and to top it off they gave out free bottles of water when people left. Charming place with soul, hope it never changes.

My favourite bar in Melbourne. Great music, swinging lamps, pizza, and a fluoro sign for all your instagramming needs. I was disappointed yesterday though when the bartender charged me $17 for a pre made cocktail in a tiny bottle which was only 1 standard drink. If I had known that I’d have ordered something different as that price is ridonkulous - it was the equivalent of a vodka cruiser in my opinion

Run by the same owners of The Everleigh and of course Connie (pizza bar inside Heartbreaker). All of which are Melbourne classic drinking and eating spots. Heartbreaker has loads of draft beer options including Hallertau from New Zealand. The pizza at Connie on the other side of the pool table is some of the best I’ve had outside of NYC. Sold in Slices or Pies (full Pizza). Ordering two slices is spot on for a late night feed.

Never in all my time being in hospo or in the many years of being a pub punter, have I felt a business cared so much for females being comfortable and cared for. An incident happened to a female friend at the pool table - minor in my experience as a female working in pubs in rural WA, but this none the less was something that made my friend feel very uncomfortable and triggered another incident from her past. She wasn't going to say anything - only getting a glass of water to calm down, when one of the male staff saw she wasn't okay. After hearing what happened the venue went above and beyond to make sure their female patrons felt safe and could call out misogynistic culture and behavior. I was very proud to be in a Melbourne bar, on a Saturday night, with such an incredibly helpful and respectful bar staff.

Stumbled in here by chance while we were waiting for some friends to arrive. We ordered a cider and a negroni cocktail which were both very tasty. The negroni was even served in a little glass jar which we could keep, lucky my jacket pockets were big! The bar staff had a bit of attitude when we tried to order like we were interrupting her for trying to buy a drink, which most would find rude but I thought it just added to the overall carefree (careless?) grunge-y style of the bar. Would definitely come back next time im in town!

Every time I work at a new client site, I find a place nearby where I can grab after-work drinks. Over the years I have found some great places to drink, but one of my all-time favourites is Heartbreaker. Great dive bar where you can drink without being worried about getting in a fight, good, rotating beers, decent, cheap pizza, and friendly staff (shout out especially to Nick, Josh, Ant, Lil, Max and Chelsea).

Amazing intimate dive bar - the obnoxious pink neon lighting sets the tone. Great for dates, and even coming with friends. Pizza slices are generous and so very amazingly cheesy (and delicious). I went to heartbreaker on vacation off of the recommendation of a long forgotten source. This is a genuine dive bar, that's almost too well done for the "dive" part for the name. That's a compliment by the way. It sports nice booths, a working pool table, nicely priced drinks and an amazing pizza kitchen in the back. The music is classic rock/metal and being from America, I felt like I was back in a cool basement bar in New York City. The staff gave great service, and the crowd was welcoming as well. If I lived in Melbourne, I'd definitely be a regular.

They gave a great variety of beer on tap, their staff is friendly and they have their dj blasting tunes all night long to get you right in the mood. It’s very popular and can get crowded but if it sounds like your type of venue, do not hesitate to go!

This joint is reliably great. Amazing late night drinks and food. However, what sprung me to leave this review was how my friend I I were treated. My friend was very sick. The staff took this very seriously. The female security guard and the manager were incredibly understanding and so helpful. They made me feel like I wasn’t alone. They questioned where we were drinking and what we were drinking. They responded perfectly to this horrible situation in an incredibly calm and professional manner. Absolutely genius bar. Reminds me of being in a dive bar in LA or Nashville. True Rock n Roll bar with tremendous music. The staff are just as good as the music. They are nice and happy for a chat. There is a solid range of beers from USA, AUS and other countries. I would say some are slightly overpriced for a dive bar but hey they have to pay for the overpriced rent I suppose. With a jukebox and the music, charge what you want. Go here.

A dark bar that's loud, amazing selection of whiskey and bartenders that know how to recommend them, without being classified as an upscale and expensive whiskey bar. Always playing the rock songs that you'd find on triple m, and a grungey atmosphere, it's the kind of place you bought that leather jacket for. Also don't try the pickleback unless you like pickles, or a challenge.

I love this place (and apparently a lot of people do!) - but it's not for everyone. Head along if you like old rock and roll played loud, the dive bar decor, and some seriously good beers on tap. However - if you're after somewhere to be seen, after a nice glass of wine, or want to be able to have a serious conversation, then this isn't really the place. I've made visiting Heartbreaker a Melbourne habit; I'll be back!

Whether it's kicking the night off or rounding it out, the beer selection is strong and the bottled cocktails are as expected; perfect. This place is okay, there's no happy hour and the drinks have a huge ice cube to water down your drinks so get no ice. The first part of the bar has no air con so it gets really warm. The music is good but too loud and there is no outdoor area.

It's like if you could buy a dive bar at IKEA. Occasionally the music is good and the staff "act" rock and roll but security are way too uptight about the slightest things, encourage waiting in a line out the front when the bar isn't even at capacity, and let people in based on looks. Overall it's OK, but it's a very sterile environment. If you're looking for real rock and roll, this isn't it.

Great place for a beer in the city when you're not wanting the intensity of somewhere like Cherry, but want to get a bit loose and play some tunes on the jukebox. It's divey, but classy. Good-to-great tap list depending on what's new and your tastes, INSANE pizza. I'm a Brooklyn expat and if you're looking for NYC-style pizza, it's in the Heartbreaker's wall -- literally. Connies Pizza is grafted in the back wall and you order at the bar. The pizza tastes more like the stuff back home than typical tourist faire in Manhattan, this is the real deal... now I never have to board an airplane again.
