t. g.A tiny pub with awesome food, cocktails and friendly staff members. The beef burger is literally finger licking good. The staff members make unique cocktails and they make you try. The live music on Thursday night is something we look forward for every week. This pub in Melbourne supports so many talented artists who play on Thursday nights. It is my best hangout spot in Melbourne.

T.I’ve been past this fine establishment too many times and I haven’t had the opportunity to stop.
Well when in the area my partner and I called in for a pre dinner drink. The crowd appeared friendly enough and the service was alright too.
This place has more specials than you can poke a stick at haha. They have daily food and drink specials meaning I’ll have to go back to check this out.
I ordered a British/Scottish beer given that this pub had that theme but unfortunately a lot of the beers were local commercial.
But I understand that they have a lot of scotch whiskey and a good Scottish beer that I tried. I’m definitely going back again just to try some of the food and maybe a tipple haha.

R. M.This was my first visit to the Highlander Bar and I was pleasantly surprised. I would describe the bar atmosphere as casual and laid back. The drink selection is good as it the bar food menu. The function rooms upstairs are of a good size and easily accommodate 40 people for stand up drinks.

The staff were rude on one occasion but apart form that it was a good night. One negative is that bar is very enclosed and doesn't have some of the amazing views that other bars in Melbourne have. Would definitely come back here

Not a great range of beers, but all the usual suspects, sine drink and food specials and "free" comedy upstairs during the festival. Bar staff not 100% informed of what's going on, but friendly and quick on the draw when it's crowded. Nice spot for a quick drink at this end of town.
J. H.Good spot for a few drinks after work. The rewards for signing up to their mailing letter are also very much worth while, especially for your birthday! Friendly staff and reasonably priced. The food is good, I had a burger which was pretty good, however the popcorn chicken I also had was far too greasy for my liking.

A.Great vibe and atmosphere but the bar was so busy there was no way you could talk. We got chefs platter what had haggis and black pudding and I have to say the ones in Scotland are beautiful while I did not like those in Highlander bar too much. The stuff was super friendly and did try to make a good experience for us and the Whisky cocktails were awesome! I urge you to try those!

And you get a free pitcher the next time you come in if you connect to their free WiFi (not sure if thats still going). Also, the haggis balls are pretty bomb, staff is wonderful and friendly

P. B.Not quite the upmarket place I thought it was. Limited beer selection, luckily I fancied a Tennents Lager. Didn't try the food, sounds pretty good if you are homesick for Scottish food, maybe next time.
L. F.In a nutshell it was a really pleasant experience.
The staff, in our case, a Scottish (lass) lady behind the bar was super friendly and bubbly and welcoming. The accent helped too!! Knowledgeable about the food AND the beers!
Food...Fat Bastard and the Braveheart followed by the Marsbar dessert. Both burgers were delicious but the Braveheart with the Haggis was absolutely spot on!! Had a zingy spice to it that was hard to go past. Chips...thin but still nice.
Decor was a bit dated but not too bad to look past this.
Realistically the only issue we had was there was no roaring fireplace...or warm as far as temperature in the room. Given it was a cold winters day we visited this was the only thing we found lacking.
Would come back.
P. S.The Wee Bastard Burger was ok but took >1 hour to come out. Whilst they gave us a round of drinks to compensate, this is much too long for a straightforward item. Will drink here but hesitate over eating.

T.We recently reserved "The Library" upstairs at Highlander Bar for an event to celebrate our 10 year wedding anniversary/vow renewal with 25 of our closest friends, and we were all really impressed. From the initial contact, right through to the night itself, Kate was extremely helpful, answering all our little questions, and helping to organise everything, including food and drink, providing a projector and sound system, and getting us sorted with early arrival, taking photos, and just generally being extremely accommodating. Everything was fantastic, and even though we only had the room booked for 4 hours, we were able to arrive nearly an hour early to set up and take some pics, and they let us stay on and dance until closing time, almost 3 hours late! Basically, they're great guys and girls, and we all had an absolute blast. We'll definitely be back!!

T. P.I've been to the Highlander Bar many times and will go many more. Outide its a typical Melbourne bluestone laneway and inside the food and drinks are at really great prices.
The Scottish lean is gentle and results in imaginative bar food, and owner Kate has a knack of hiring delightful bar staff.
Its probably as close as it gets to a genuine local pub... and I don't mean just a pretend UK or Irish exterior.

L. D.Amazing Scottish bar in the CBD! For all Scottish ex-pats like myself, it's a welcome taste of home. There's tennents, irn bru, and even Bucky! Just sad I only discovered it on the last day it was open this year but I'll be back on the 9th January when they reopen for sure :)

M.I held a 60th at the highlander for my dad. It was such an amazing venue! The staff went above and beyond for us on the night. Kate was amazing and catered to my every need. She even organised balloons for me at the very last minute when I forgot them! I highly recommend this venue. Kate and her team are fantastic!
