A great place to go after dinner on Lygon st. Catch the lift or the stairs to the rooftop and enjoy great views looking back to the city. Be aware, this is Melbourne and if the wind is coming from the South it can be cool so bring a jacket. There was a great vibe with people enjoying cocktails and beers at the bar or at one of the many tables. The wine list could be improved as there is a limited selection. The service was friendly although over run with cocktail orders. We didn’t eat however the pizzas looked good. A definite place to visit if you are local or visiting.

Johnny's Green Room is a cool, casual hangout which is located on the rooftop of King & Godfree. The views of the city are great and the vibe of Lygon street spills upstairs too. Great place to get some sun, relax, catchup with friends over some cold beverages. Food here is ok, but you're not coming here for the food. Cocktails and drinks here are done well, their Lemonchello is top notch!

Had so much fun at this little joint in the middle of everything ! This little joint in Carlton normally has loads of seats, unobstructed views of the city and great little bar snacks !

Really enjoyed the fonts and design of this place. Cocktails were excellent - very well balanced. On this Sunday night, drinks took almost 30 minutes to arrive. Would love to try the food. Music was very average house electronic.

Great roof top bar. Totally unexpected above the unassuming bells hotel. Excellent views, great atmosphere, friendly service (the kind of place to give a free beer if they muck up an order) and nice food. Favourite place for after work drinks on a Friday jn south Melbourne.

Came here for lunch, appreciate them letting us bring food up in takeaway boxes from downstairs. When I was here, a rainbow stretched across the sky which left us with a view of Melbourne which was truly hard to beat. The songs were apt and enhanced the mellow vibe the place has to offer. If you’re on Lygon and confused among all the bars then definitely go for this one.

Johnny's Green room is okay. The incredible city view makes up for the poor service. I don't recommend the cocktails, they taste a bit cheap and bulk made. Not somewhere I'm ever eager to go back to

An iconic roof top bar arguably the greatest in Melbourne. A beautiful range of wine and funky cocktails to set the tone for an epic night on lygon. Pizzas are unreal, double up on a Monday night for Monday night pizzas. Mika and Levi are proper kings of lygon always a warm welcome and good vibes from all the staff. Tick it off the bucket list and if it isn’t on your bucket list then what are you doing.

Where was this place hiding? Really cool vibe here. Friendly service and plenty of room. Being a rooftop it’s real bonus on pleasant days and evenings, not so good any other times but that’s to be expected from most rooftop bars. Anyway.... regardless I’ll be back for sure

Cool hidden spot. Sunny upper deck with comfy cushions for some chairs. Asahi beers were $10, 14, 18 for pot, schooner and pint. Had a calamari for $20. Small serving, decent flavour.

Good atmosphere, great music & awesome service. Only let down is the gusts of wind that result in smashed glasses & disappointment. Please invest some money in raising your glass walls so that the wind doesn't continue doing damage. When you do that, I'll be back again!

This little rooftop terrace is a hidden gem in Carlton. But it's quite popular. Quiet spot for a very enjoyable weekend afternoon with great Italian share plates, good selection of drinks, coffee and set to live music. Could do with more shade on sunny days. Saw they had heaters that would be nice in winter. Will definitely come again.

Visited Johnny's on a Saturday night with my friends and was the first night out after lockdown! Was not disappointed, the staff were so attentive and friendly, especially the tall girl with dark brown hair who waited our table she was such a gem!!! Amazing service, food and atmosphere. Will defs be re visiting! Only tip would be to book ahead to avoid disappointment as covid restrictions don't allow full capacity at the moment (everywhere really)!!

Not too far from the CBD, the view from the rooftop is surprisingly good for "just" the second floor ! The woodfired pizza was neither too thin to hold nor too thick although I wished it would have been more filling for two people...

Fun summer vibes and gorgeous views of Melbourne’s skyline. Delicious house made veggie burger with unusual toppings: pickles, sauerkraut, some kind of delicious chutney - a lovely surprise! Come for the prosecco and views, stay for the friendly atmosphere and great food.

We went there as a group of 8. We had a few with dietary restrictions and couldn’t have most of the items in the set menu. Jonny was brilliant and accommodating . He took it all in stride and gave us a custom set menu for the same price. The food was okay but Jonny was the star.

I had a perfect Friday night with friends on the roof top bar. We didn't have high expectations for food but surprisingly, the selection of cheese, arancini and baked eggplant were all delicious! One drawback was the loud music and tinny sound. The place needs better speakers.

This spot has a lot of potential to be a classy, intimate and cultured venue. We visited on a Saturday night, nice roof top and good drinks selection. Couldn’t quite tell what crowd they were trying to market themselves to as their music was unreasonably loud and created a weird vibe. If you tone down the out of touch party music this place could be awesome.

Nice bar setup with a relaxed atmosphere. I knew Johnny’s green room when it was in Faraday street and it was a pool hall. It had a shady past with illegal poker machines during the mid to late eighties. Only did a couple of drinks but it is a nice setup and I would go again.

Nice place, really trendy as they reopened not that long ago. Don't mind the queue, it's just that you have to use an elevator to access the rooftop. Go up, check for room and if its too crowded, you are in Carlton on the fringe with Fitzroy, there will be many other places :)

This place is full of trendy, gorgeous women. It seems that the ch7 & ch9 weather girls are good friends. Naturally, I vote for ch 7, as I worked with Seven for 25 years. I doubt they were barely alive !! Love Estelle Gripink!

Come on, anyone else remember the real johnny’s green room, the seedyish old school pool hall with some arcade games on faraday street run by old tony and young tony? It was great, best 90’s place I can think of. Sacrilege to name a pretentious hipster bar after it.
