Good average. Nothing exciting out different on the menu. Chips were BRIGHT yellow..... Unsure what they're cooked in. Ambience ok. Prices pretty snake

Perfect! Had the chicken parma and it was as good as any pub in Melbourne. Kids had pasta and fish burger and my wife had sea food pasta and loved it and all staff were great. A lot of reviews on here pick on everything but for a bistro it was great. Fantastic view, price was fine and I didn't go to lorne to save money.

Congratulations to the Merivale Group on their latest acquisition. We had the pleasure of going to the Lorne Hotel for dinner 3 day's in a row while we stayed in the area.
Currently the Hotel is a bit tired and in need of a renovation to bring it back to its former glory day's which I think Justin and his team will be able to do l, so we look forward to seeing what they do.
In the meantime the service is fantastic, we ordered via the app at the table which was started off as a disaster but thanks to the Restaurant Manager Reilly it was quickly rectified. Reilly is a great asset to the business and he couldn't do enough to make sure that our meals were satisfactory and that we left as a happy customer.
The food was fantastic quality and came out extremely quickly which was great. I had the scotch fillet steak and the meat was premium quality more than just your pub fare. We also had King Prawns and once again the quality was superior to any pub we've been to.
We sat in the beer garden to eat and there was music being played by a DJ on the other side of the venue which actually gave the place a really good vibe.
We had a really relaxing evening and can't wait to see what renovations are done by the Merivale Group and we look forward to coming back soon.
I've read some reviews regarding pricing of the food, I didn't find the prices to be any different to any other beachside Hotel. We felt the pricing was reasonable and the quality was exceptional. I can only assume that the Merivale Group has now taken over and now the quality will improve. You can see the staff are well trained and attentive.
Had a great day and thanks to Reilly and his restaurant team for awesome service.

Need more gluten free options. Other than that the food is tasty. I enjoyed the butter chicken. Full of flavour

Great deck area to sit and eat over looking the water.
Food was very tasty, service good.
Staff friendly.

Was just there for lunch and it was a great decision. Sat by the windows in the bistro overlooking the beach on a nice sunny day. The main meals and kids meals are big servings. The side garden salad and broccalini were 👌
I. H.
Great cocktails.
Lovely server! But disappointed with size/quality of meal for the price and no kilpatrick oysters.
C. A.
My husband and I enjoyed a delicious lunch here and left very satisfied with the great friendly staff and good quality food. Perfect feed after a day on the beach and great ambience!
M. L.
Had lunch. They have the annoying order & pay ap on each table. No service. Schnitzel came with just chips ($25). You have to order salad - why??? Just ripping you off. Other meals were the same. Will not be back any time soon. Food was ok but not worth $25.
L.
Nice place for some drinks with family and friends. Prices are reasonable for the location. Staff is friendly especially the Punjabi Chef who we spoke to for about 5mins. Great work and see you guys again soon
J. W.
Really nice food and great views. We had quite a delay with getting our meals which came down to a technical issue and they compensated us with 1 free meal and drinks which was very kind of them.
C. K.
I know it has been a tough couple years for businesses, but we went for lunch, I ordered a classic pub meal, the chicken parmi, with chips, broccolini instead of the salad, and gravy, set me back $37.50. Bit steep for a standard pub meal. A little disappointing but I guess thats the premium you pay to sit up top looking over the water. It is very picturesque.
The darl had the vegetable curry on rice, she wasn't super impressed, it wasnt exactly gourmet...for $34, it was also over priced. May as well have gone down to Movida for the price we shelled out. I reckon they need to sharpen their pencils.
J. P. H.
$28 parma and no side salad? To be fair it didn’t mention anywhere on the menu that the parma was served with chips AND salad, but I guess as a self confessed parma connoisseur I just assumed this was standard? Would still
return but definitely taken aback on this occasion
M. G.
Been going here 10 years probably tye best restaurant in lorne very close to the beach
J. P.
The menu was very limited but the staff and food were lovely
C.
Good place for drinks with friends, greate food too

I ordered a Vegetarian salad costs me only 14$ but it was one of the best salad I ever had. Amazing quality ingredient's and very delicious.
We were family of 10 and everything we ordered tasted really good. Very enjoyable experience with beautiful views surrounding the hotel. Service was excellent as well.
D. G.
Room was very spacious, beds very comfortable. Clean and modern bathroom. Staff kept informed with easy check-in.

Visited twice this weekend. The food was fantastic. Great atmosphere brilliant service from all the staff.especially Shane he is a brilliant host and has great customer service skills. He is a credit to your company. Will definitely be back. Keep up the great work.
A. L.
Food was nice but not worth how much we paid for it. The guy forgot our order I realised this after the 2 tables after us got their drinks first, of course he made an excuse up!
Customer service was horrible. They where pretty busy and possibly not enough staff and over worked. The seating was very tight hardly any room to pull the chair in and out. Would not recommend this place.

Jamie at The Lorne Hotel is such an incredible person and I hope the Lorne Hotel realises what an asset he is. From the moment we met Jamie, we fell in love with his energy, enthusiasm and strong understanding of events and event management. We had our wedding reception at the Lorne Hotel, and it was not just the incredible views that made the night, it was also the amount of care and effort Jamie put in to making everything perfect. Nothing was too hard, and he honestly made myself, my husband and our entire wedding party feel like the most important people. He was intuitive, he always noticed when our glasses were empty or something needed to be done. I do not believe our wedding day would have run as smoothly and perfectly as it did if it were not for Jamie. Thank you so much Jamie, I will always be so grateful that I met you! Thank you for helping to make my wedding day so perfect!

Lovely weekend spent at Lorne Hotel over the Easter long weekend. Small quaint room, suitable for family of 4. Very clean with comfortable beds (brought our own pillows).
The location was very central, a couple of minutes walk to the beach and to the town.
Recommend and would stay again !
M. B.
Had the porterhouse steak which was lovely and cooked as requested. Staff were lovely and friendly. As is the case with most establishments in Lorne you are paying higher prices.
R. _.
Has premium accommodation, Movida and Coda restaurants along with bistro and beer garden. Staff are amazing, very friendly, and the room I had which was the budget room was exceptional. I was cycle touring and the team were very accommodating making sure I had a place to stow my bike for the night.
C. G.
Dropped in for a drink after walking around in the crowds along Lorne's Main Street. Drinks were refreshing and reasonably priced. The staff gave positive vibes and were easy to talk to. Pretty good view of the beach.
K. S.
Very clean and spacious room, bright passage way, excellent view from balcony, soothing wave sounds from ocean especially at night. Nice and quiet. Close to shops and coffee service down the street. Will definitely stay again.
P. R.
A lovely meal in the Bistro. Made to feel very welcome by staff and shown to a well spaced, relaxed table. I had the beautiful lamb tagine, my wife has the chicken curry. We both enjoyed our meals and were impressed by the generous serving sizes.
A. F.
Lovely, clean, quiet accommodation with comfortable beds, nice decor, convenient location and beautiful view. It was hard to get hold of reception, but otherwise a great stay, highly recommend. We had a family room, which slept 4 people in two rooms. Great for families.
K. I.
This place is ideal and not noisy like other places within the immediate vicinity. Kids will love seeing skinks. Location to all you require (especially the beach) will keep us booking ahead a full 12 months.

Food was good. Eventough expensive for fish and chips.
F. S.
Stayed 2 nights with our family of 4. We loved the family unit, Very comfortable and clean, had everything we needed for a fantastic stay including a lovely balcony with view of ocean through the gum trees. We ordered takeaway from the bistro and the food was great. Second night had dinner at Movida which was outstanding. The staff were so friendly and professional and went out of their way to ensure we had a great stay. Brilliant location - we can’t wait to return!
K. T. G.
We ate in the beer garden terrace and it was lovely. Overlooking the water and under cover. My girlfriend was able to get gluten free beer there which is few and far between in other places. The parma waa delicious with chips and salad. Very nice staff and with the ability to pay an order via a QR code on the table we didn't even have to get up. Beats lining up for sure. Would definitely come back.
C. T.
Beautiful meal and very cold beer. Be back tomorrow.

Checked in on 16/12/2020, stayed a couple of nights in family room no. 2 (1 queen + 4 bunk beds). This room is a separate unit behind the main building. It's a short walk uphill from the front desk (via ramp or stairs) which might bother you if you're nursing an injury or are wheelchair bound.
To be honest, I was preparing for the worst because I had read some pretty negative reviews about these rooms but - thank goodness - it completely exceeded my expectations.
It seems that the family rooms had been recently renovated (huzzah!) and ours was in pretty good condition. When we arrived, it was clean, the beds were made and there were clean towels waiting for us. While we were out during the day, they even cleaned the bathroom and replaced some of our towels, which was nice.
The bathroom was new. The shower was pretty good - the unit has its own water heater - and there's a washer and dryer which we ended up using a lot.
The kitchen was very well equipped with a induction cooker, microwave, toaster, kettle and a decent-sized fridge. There was a full array of cutlery, pots, pans and knives too, which was good because it meant we could cook breakfast every morning - there's a FoodWorks grocery a short drive away, so you don't have to pack much from home. There's a pretty big shelf next to the dining table so there's loads of space to keep non-refrigerated food too.
I'm not sure about the bunk beds (the kids were in those and they seemed happy with them), but the queen bed was really comfortable with a nice, firm mattress and good pillows.
There's a big Netflix-equipped TV in the large living area, which was good because it was rainy one evening and we ended up having a family movie night. The couches looked a little worn and had a slight smell (not much you can do about that), but that didn't really bother me.
The room has a large private outdoor area with some benches, a table and umbrella. We didn't sit out there much, but it since there was a garden hose, it was a good place to rinse and dry our beachwear and equipment. Speaking of which...
We loved the location of the room because it was a very short walk (less than 5 mins) to the beach via the path and stairs across the road, leading down to the Lorne Life Saving Club. This meant that if we forgot something, it wasn't a huge deal to head back to the room to get it.
(minor) Things we didn't like:
1. On-site parking is very limited. I had to park on the street one night. Not a big deal, but take note if this bothers you. Could be a bigger problem during peak periods.
2. Slight odour outside the room. Didn't really bother me, but my wife noticed it.
3. Large bin in kitchen/dining area was missing a lid, so be careful not to toss something in it that could stink.
4. Wi-Fi password wasn't given to us during check-in, and wasn't written anywhere in the room (if it was, we couldn't find it), so we had to call the front desk.
5. The prices for the Bistro seemed a bit high. Would've probably tried it if it was just me and my wife.
6. The back door to the private outdoor area is secured by a pretty tiny latch. Some people might find this a security hazard but, to be honest, if someone is planning to break into your room and steal stuff, a bigger latch wouldn't stop them either.
7. Would've been nice to have an in-room electronic safe. We didn't really need it, but I'd imagine that a foreign visitor would've wanted a more secure place to keep their passports.
Overall, we were very pleased with our stay at the Lorne Hotel. The room exceeded our expectations and the location was excellent because we wanted to spend a lot of time at the beach. We'll definitely consider it again the next time we plan a trip to Lorne.
C. F.
Great time here with best service from Riléy our bar staff 👍👍

Coda, great service, flavours and team, wonderful lunch A+

the room was very nice, price was pretty good, location fantastic and views were stunning. Down 2 stars because there was alot of work happening around the place. We had to get a take away food delivery and take it back to our room as there was no room service, we couldn't book a table because they were booked out (no big deal but an offer for a call because of a cancellation or even just to humor us would have been nice) but yeah, if it wasn't for covid it would have probably been 5 stars.
C. S.
Compact room but nice fittings and clean bathroom. Stair access only which is something to consider depending on how much luggage you have! I would also say you can easily hear other guests & the hall is creaky. Great location and friendly service
J. R.
Went for dinner at the Bistro. Fabulous views. Friendly and fast service, meals arrived within 15 min. Got the fish and chips and seafood basket, both were very nice, calamari, prawns and fish all cooked perfectly. Will be back next time we're in Lorne.
A. K.
The newly renovated part of the hotel is great. Thanks to the duty manager on the Wednesday we stayed in September for sorting us out (the 2 bed annexe needs didn't meet the same quality of the rest of the hotel). He was super laid back, friendly and understanding. We slept well in a light and comfy room. Definitely recommend.
C. W.
has a limited menu. Risotto was good but the fish was cooked slightly too long. great wine beer and cider range. fantastic views and well set out venue. book over the summer period as it gets very very busy
J. N.
Look I found this really good value and service. The place was packed. I'd heard it was pretty expensive - but actually upstairs at the Bistro seemed pretty reasonable.
R. O.
Love this place, my thing is a seafood platter on the deck, with a cold craft beer. In 2019 the platter was taken off the menu. The head chef made us up a ripper seafood platter. So awesome, I'll be back many times.
S. K.
We had dinner as a family of 5 (2 adults, 2 children and a toddler) on the roof top outside. Beautiful weather and view of the ocean. The large round lights seem to attract A LOT of flying insects which can make it a bit uncomfortable at times. Food was average but rather pricy. Small children’s menu. Nothing available for the children to do or activities on hand for them given the COVID restrictions. Staff were friendly. Wait on meals wasn’t too long and children were served first.
M. C.
Rated three stars but should really be 2.5. Mediocre service where staff seemed uninterested and unfriendly, and low-level mediocre food. I had the fish and chips which was cold and chewy and my husband had the chicken curry which was dry even though there was ample sauce. Absolutely overpriced and I know this isn’t the fault of the restaurant but the drinks selection was mediocre as well. Would have liked to be impressed with this place but won’t be back.
P. C.
Decent food for a hotel/ pub style establishment. The usual style food but different options of the meat you want. The deck up the top is perfect on a warm day and the staff are reasonably friendly. Can be busy at times but you’ll always get a table somewhere.
Overall a good place for all however, not suitable for dogs.
L. C.
Lots of great staff here and had a great meal, ruined by 1 staff member who was power tripping over getting to kick us out at the end of the night.
D. H.
This was our third stay , and from the moment we were greeted by Vicky at reception, we new we were in for an awesome, relaxing , stress free weekend. The local scenery and atmosphere is vibrant , but laid back. relaxed. We sat on the balcony enjoying a beer listening to the sound of waves crashing , then had an awesome meal at the bistro for dinner , again greeted by Vicky who went through the specials and recommended the very mouth watering Mexican beef , to the hotels recommended breakfast spot down by the walkover bridge a nice ten minute walk along the coast. I must say that Vicky and the Staff at The Lorne Hotel made our weekend amazing and memorable .
N. T.
Great food! Huge servings for everything, especially the so called ‘light’ meals. Service was great, friendly staff. Hannah was especially great, making sure we had the best time possible. Will be back!!
G. P.
We had my daughters wedding reception here and the night was absolutely amazing. Vicky organised everything and her team were perfect with all the catering and bar work. We stayed for a few nights and really relaxed in the rooms and took in the views. This is an awesome place and well worth it in my opinion. Thank you to all involved as we really appreciate the effort you all made and for going the extra mile to keep all of my guests happy.
L. K.
Great food, great portions, great service. Don't order the coke, got some kinda diet coke thing that tasted like really badly watered down cordial with no carbonation.
P. G.
Small but quaint hotel. Colonial architecture? Steps away from a very quiet & pleasant beach. Simple & practical family room. Very very clean. Our room had no views. But beds & pillows really comfortable. Slept well & I usually don't in hotels. Friendly cheerful staff.
B. M.
Great location with views overlooking water. Gluten-free options noted on menu. Food was overall quite good though slightly overpriced in my opinion. Called 45 minutes ahead of time to reserve a table and ended up on probably the best table there and the lady on the phone was a pleasure to speak to. I will definitely visit again when passing through.
C. D.
Staff were friendly and efficient, the space was great, would love to come back in the warmer months beacuse the view is spectacular. Our meals were tasty and came out quickly. Will come back whenever we're in town again.
L. L.
I always try to stop here for lunch when making a trip down the Great Ocean Road. The hotel has a great atmosphere, and the outdoor rooftop restaurant section is brilliant on a sunny day. The food is really nice and well priced, and the view over the bay makes lunch there a treat. Staff are friendly, and it generally strikes a good balance between being boring and empty and overly busy.
T. S.
The hotel staff are very friendly, prompt and helpful. They provided personal service that couldn’t get any better.
Our family of 5 stayed in the 2BR unit very comfortably, and the accommodation was clean, fresh and recently upgraded. The free WiFi was very fast and great for Netflix. Each day the cockatoos would greet us on our balcony. Don’t feed them!
The kitchenette was a little lacking in utensils making it hard to cook for a family of 5 with only one tiny frying pan and a few saucepans. We also had a few things that needed fixing, e.g. towel rail falling off, light globe not working, etc but these weren’t deal breakers.
The location was fantastic and overall our entire family enjoyed the stay. Highly recommended!
D. G.
We paid for the Queen Room but we were pleasantly surprised with an upgrade to the Bridle Suite . It made our stay all the more special. The room and bathroom were very clean and the bed was most comfortable. Staff were friendly and very helpful. We would definitely stay there again. Thanks so much.
B. T.
Brilliant. Pub meals. Exactly what you want, quality is great even in peak times across the long weekend. Impressive. My call is sit outside if it’s not too cold.
M. P.
We love the Lorne Hotel!! What a fantastic setup with a rooftop beer garden over looking the beautiful Lorne Beach! Pop in for a drink or a delicious meal, you will definitely be impressed! Our meals this time around were amazing, the menu offers a fantastic selection for everyone!! If you are a sea food lover the seafood plate or share platter is the go! The local wildlife will come and say hi as well!!
J. S.
really nice staff, very clean, and beautiful views. i only have one complaint if i were to nit pick being our particular room didn't really get wifi but other than that, no complaints.
D. C.
My partner and I had the seafood platter for two and out of 10 we would give this a 12!! Best seafood we have ever eaten! We basically rolled out, lol huge servings! Service was great, price was great, absolutely everything about this place was awesome!! Will definitely be coming back!
D. G.
Spent a night here in the budget rooms. For the price we paid we were blown away. The room was small but it was so well utilised! The renovations they have done recently is 10/10! Everything in the room is quality products and fittings. The bed was a tad hard but for the price we paid we were extremely happy.
Dinner was great! Service was good too. Will be back
C. K.
Well setup with lots of different areas. Food was great with some alternatives to the usual pub fair. Beer and wine selection was good with a some craft beers to choose from also. Service was pretty good too.
K. T.
Atmosphere was wonderful & staff were bright & welcoming. To start the garlic bread was delicious not to big and not overpriced. Then had a traditional pub meal being chicken parma Chips & salad. More than generous, not to much cheese & a delicious tomato sauce. The chips were yum salad was what you'd expect. No dessert..to full & just table water for drinks.
D. B.
Even with a misunderstood price which we already paid for and needed a refund, the staff were amazing in understanding and gave us the correct refund without any hassle, a service which often isn't so easily made, we stayed longer because of this. would recommend :)
J. S.
Spent the afternoon in the pub. Great atmosphere, food was excellent and quick service! Plus gorgeous view!
Y.
Very nice apartment. Spacious, clean and well designed. Staff were very friendly and helpful.
D. C.
I have to give this five stars as the staff as well as the security were top notch and was very kind helpful and welcoming. The food was generous in servings well priced and came out in a timely fashion. Was a friendly crowd and highly recommended for all tourists locals and anybody who's passing through who wants a cold beverage
T. N. T.
There are unbelievable restaurant 100% delicious foods and the Best Staff in customer service, every dishes the staff brings to table with nicely instructed the food and absolutely 100% each dishes greatly tastes and we still keep talking about this restaurant when we back to Lorne we be back to this restaurant again..

Ventured to the Lorne Hotel with the car club, ordered Parma and fish n chips, both delicious and filling. Service was fast considering there was over 90 of us in the upstairs function room. Would definitely recommend this place.
L. S.
They are friendly and easy to deal with when booking a table and a have bright open space on the first floor dining room. Food is pretty good pub dining and they have big portions, though we had a long delay with the food being brought to us (my 10 year old niece was on the point of chewing the edge of the table). This was due to a fault with their computerised ordering system. However, the guys were super good at fixing this when it was brought to their attention; fast tracking our order and bringing the food really quickly plus they gave us our choice of free desserts!! My 10 year old niece was very impressed with this and was delighted with the chocolate fondant! She now is an enthusiastic customer of the restaurant. A classic example of how properly handling a problem can lead to happier customers. And a shout out to Tom for his professionalism 👍

Fabulous views and wonderful service.
From the word go Allister, greeted us with a smile and continued to show the highest level of service for our entire dinning experience.
I'll be back!!!
D. E.
A friendly welcoming. We had a very nice apartment. Clean, quiet and comfortable. Thank you.
J. L.
The evening spent in the restaurant doesn't get better than that good food and beautiful views of the sea and town .go and enjoy
A. J.
Great meal, very reasonably priced. Great view of Lorne beach with a great atmoshere. Highly recommended.
M. S.
Good beers nice venue

We came here for dinner while staying in Lorne. My partner ordered the giant t-bone and I ordered the eye fillet. My partners steak was definitely not giant. And both steaks came out well done instead of the medium rare we ordered. However the creme caramel was delicious.
L. M. (.
Nice room just quite dirty. Lots of cobwebs near the bed. Bathroom has dirt and hair in the corner in between the shower and vanity. Cant fault the location . Its is close to everything
m. b.
The Lorne Hotel (View) was perfect for our wedding reception. Balcony was an extra bonus, spectacular view.
Emily Graham was a delight to work with and especially helpful with setting up the reception. Emily was very friendly, prompt and supportive.
Guests provided positive feedback on space, food and friendly staff.

We stayed 3 nights at the end of March to attend a wedding. Our sml room no bch views but we were very happy with the lovely deco & especially the cleanliness & lovely bathroom. Sarah a staff member was very lovely, supplying us with fresh towels, tea coffee etc on the second day. Sarah also lent me a nice warm jacket & a beanie as it turned very cold & we didn't have enough warm clothing. We would definitely stay again if in VIC again. Loved our stay & staff made it special.
Z. K.
We visited Lorne last weekend for a quick getaway. We had dinner at the Lorne Hotel Friday night. I ordered the Parma and my partner ordered the fish n chips. Yum yum yum. The Parma was delicious. And the fish/flake was super fresh and tender melted in your mouth. Staff were friendly and helpful. So we decided to have dinner there the following night. We ordered steak and fish n chips again. Scotch fillet was cooked to perfection. And the flake was again perfect. Thanks Lorne Hotel and your lovely staff. Keep up the good work. We will be back.

We've stayed in a self contained unit just at the back of the hotel. The rooms were clean and spacious with all mod-cons. Plenty of basic toiletries were provided. There was an outside seating area too. The receptionist was very friendly. The hotel itself is conveniently located, close to the beach and all shops/restaurants. And parking was free of charge. All in all we've had a very nice stay
M. H.
Great place and beautiful views
S. F.
Great hotel, stayed the night. Great view of the beach.
Had dinner in the Bistro, the food was great will go back for sure.
S. L.
Amazing location right in the centre of Lorne. So is super handy to grab a bite to eat and have a few drinks. Restaurant is very family friendly and somewhat geared for that market.
A. H.
This place gets great reviews for its location of a close walk to the beach and parking right next to your room. However, our room was a bit outdated and the mattress in the pull out couch-bed was really worn down and offered no back support. Would recommend as a spot to stay for location and ease to the beach.
S. Y.
This is for the pub great meals great 1st time but 2nd time the staff were a little slow but still great food
M. T.
We were here for a birthday gathering and it did not disappoint! Service was quick and helpful. Food was good too and big portions. A great place to watch the sun go down and unwind!
G. B.
Hotel units are great with your own lawned courtyard but poor TV reception. Food a little pricey but it's above average pub food with a good range, including vegetarian options.
C. A.
Booked in for Christmas day lunch. No traditional menu on offer as expected. No Christmas decorations etc., just another pub meal.
A. H.
Stayed in the Bridal Suite, complimentary bottle of sparkling on arrival, the room itself is huge! Nice big window overlooking the Great Ocean Road & Lorne beach. Very comfortable & ate in the pub twice, food was delicious, I don't know what happened to the people who are reviewing badly but our experience was excellent!
L. L.
The steaks are bloody unreal 👌🤤🥩 food came quickly and amazing view as the pub is on the rooftop
C. I.
Lovely hotel. Awesome ocean views from our room. We stayed in the Family room (with 1 double + 2 singles) and it was a pleasure. Perfect place to stay in Lorne.
A. C.
The food we got (burger, parmi, spaghetti bolognese) was about as good as you'd expect from a place that gets a lot of non repeat tourist business. Decent beer selection and the view was worth the underwhelming food.
B. &. S. R.
Organising a team event for 40 people will always have it's hurdles but not when it comes to arranging such an event with the Lorne Pub. Their team are fantastic, the food & service amazing & our staff are all still raving about the food. I cannot thank everyone enough for making our night memorable & we all look forward to returning soon! Thank you all!
H. B.
Normal countryside restaurants experience, food was quite good but did take some time to arrive. Staff were plentiful but seemed largely untrained which meant the wait for the bar was long and bartenders were trying hard to keep pace which was admirable. A good but otherwise unmemorable experience
L. J.
Just had lunch here. Was average but will come back in Summer when the weather is warmer.
M. W.
Great food fast service and awesome chicken parmas. All while looking over the ocean loved it.
L. B.
Food : delicious / service : awesome

Great place for the kids to have a play whilst you watch them on the screen. Service was polite and prompt. Food was expensive for pub but very tasty and good quality ingredients used in the dishes we ordered.

Great service, delicious food topped off with a lovely view of the beach
J. C.
Great food and service with a fantastic view.
E. D.
Such a nice pub with a nice view. Lovely people. Typical order and pay at the same time at the counter as a normal pub. Good service and massive meal sizes.
T. G.
Nice food and the service was good enough. Very expensive for a pub meal and had to pay an extra 10% surcharge for the public holiday.
k. h.
Nice place to eat. Good food, views and friendly staff
A. S.
Excellent service and dinner menu in Covid times.
A. M.
Staff were great when booking my accommodation but were not very helpful when I expressed my concern after leaving.
View was great and a decent size room but I wasn't too impressed with the boys underwear I found behind my bed that most certainly were not ours.
J. L.
Location good. Views obstructed by trees though. Food was quite good, large servings. We had the chicken schnity and butter chicken. Too expensive though. Schnit $25, butter chicken $28. About $10 overpriced each.
J. G.
Grand old hotel right on the beach in Lorne. Accommodation was reasonably priced however the place is showing its age and rooms could do with a makeover. Food and drinks prices are high however it is conveniently located next to a variety of other places to dine and enjoy the seaside location.
A.
Great oysters, weak coffee, mediocre staff. Stopped in on Great Ocean Road. Coffee was weak and not exceptional. $1 oysters were delicious. Bar tender was impatient, also did not have coffee cups to go.

Stopped and had a light lunch here. Very nice food at a reasonable price. Also had great views of the waterfront.
A. P.
Comfy room with an ocean view. Basic but clean, bright and comfortable. Lovely staff. Great position in town close to everything.
L. H.
Very busy on a friday night over a long weekend, we were able to get a table without any issues and the food didnt take too long even though it was a full house. generous portions and live music at night
R. B.
Good view and nice atmosphere. A large dining area and outdoor seating all year round. Good.pub food.
C. G.
Good pub great location. Two visits maybe not enough to fully be fair. Friendly staff but Food and beer prices OTT. Guess they get away with it. Drive up the hill and try the Grand Pacific
A. L.
Great view, quick service, not the friendliest food was fine
I. D.
Great bistro on the upper level with a restaurant below.
Different menus available.
D. M.
Purched atop a hill at the southern end of Lorne township faciltates for indoor and outdoor dining has spectacular views over the waters edge and main shopping strip. Customer service was exceptional and the food was portioned well. Definatly will be back for more.
B. B.
Beaut place for any occasion, when the renovations taking place of the huge outside area are complete it will be even more so! Wonderful views great food, lovely staff. The lunch specials in particular are great value 👍👍
M. K.
Had drinks and atmosphere and music was great, but disappointed to find that at 10 upstairs shut and the only way to stay on was downstairs in the nightclub. Not everybody is in that stage (clubbing) of their life and it would have been nicer to have another hour or two upstairs.
A. T.
Good steak❤️🥩, sweet potato fries, duck spring rolls. Like the beer. Staff are friendly 👌
J. W.
Meals used to be excellent....menu has changed, for example they dropped their excellent fantastic calamari salad which we drove 2 hours from Melbourne to have for lunch...."times are changing " was the only reasoning given.
J. K.
After walking Lorne main street for a good fish & chips for lunch, we went back to the hotel & had $18.95 special, gummy F&C's, I had mine grilled. It was very nice, we enjoyed.
A. A.
An unusual experience and great to try. The food was delicious. Wine was expensive. The cheapest bottle was $60
M. Y.
If you really want to pamper yourself, go for the big room with the bathtub. It comes with a jacuzzi and lovely bathroom space to soak and relax. Great location just 5 mins drive to the main beach area.
C. H.
Great service, very busy but large kitchen to get meals out quickly. Soft drink very expensive at $5.20 a glass, even the staff member apologized for the price when i queried it.
I. M.
Service was very friendly
The room was lovely & very clean...but the bed wasn't comfortable...they definately need better quality matress
Excellent spot where they're situated as it only took 5 min to walk to the pub for a beer & dinner 😀
A. E.
We love coming back here especially with friends from overseas, great views, you can sit outside in the sun or in if its not as nice, and the local cockatoos make for some good photos as they get up very close. We've tried a few different things on the menu the mains are huge, So often we will have a entrée as a main or share a main. If you love fish try the fish of the day or the oysters, and try have a glass of something from the Bellarine Peninsula as this is the closest wine region to the area.
E. L.
Group of 25 show up without a booking, not a problem. Food, drinks and seating all catered for. Not the cheapest drinks and not the best food but I would still happily check in again.
P. A.
Extremely flavoursome tapas and light foods, with great boutique beers. Staff are very friendly, and accommodating. A very pleasant experience indeed. 😎
D. M.
Just stopped in for some drinks. The downstairs area is a bit dodgy. Upstairs in the rooftop area was lovely, great views. The menu was not very veggie or vegan friendly and quite expensive.
J. G.
Nice place for a night stay. Friendly receptionist. No breakfast, have to go to the next building to get it if you want (just a min walk). Room is quite clean, tv is really big. WiFi is pretty good as well.
M. T.
Pros : central location and rooms are very spacious. Cons : rooms quite outdated and minor quibbles such as the smoke alarm goes beep every 15 minutes or so.
P. H.
Extremely good service and the meal was very good and massive. Definitely would go back again and again. Great place for kids. Has a kids room with a working staff member to keep an eye 10/10 👌
P. P.
Beautiful food!! Loved the angus steak, salad and mash. Delish!!
A. L.
Lovely staff and nice, clean room. The hotel is right opposite the beach and also a quick walk away from food and drinks so it is the perfect location. Definitely would come again 😀
P.
Very nice place to eat and have a couple bevs
Parma and fish were great
C.
Great staff and great vibes and most importantly the beer is ice cold with a really good selection they also have the footy playing and any other sport events that may be important that the time
J. G.
Burger was OK, but a little small. Really good meal overall. Had to wait some time for meal. Good atmosphere, and friendly staff.
C. C.
Place is under renovation atm, but was still open for drinks. Be nice if a few more independent beers were on tap but we managed a couple of stouts :)
M. S.
I was there for a wedding. It was a lovely place to stay. Loved the cockatoos that came to visit. The rooms were Great.
S. V.
The pros: it's right next to the beach and it has a large TV in room The cons: It's an old place and the hygiene especially in the bathroom is questionable. Wifi is very slow and almost non existent. It's way too expensive for what you get. Unless you want to be on the beach and have some money to spend, consider somewhere else.
D. M.
Not a bad place at all, good ol’ Lorne.
Great place to go for a nice peaceful relaxing holiday.
Nice town, nice people, and great surroundings from beachside backwards!!!
Great advice from the information centre on what’s to do and things to see in around the area.
Awesome for all ages 😊
D. K.
Stopped in for a take away pizza. I had Mediterranean, very nice. Girlfriend had pumpkin pizza, which was excellent. Would go there again.
a.
3.5 stars, clean room, nice outlook from the balcony, very close to the beach and eateries.
T. C.
The staff were very prompt to clean up mess left behind by customers. A very attractive venue. I came to see the Holy Holy music event and loved it.
F. G.
Great location with ocean views from the beer garden, good food if a little pricey. Excellent service and always courteous staff.
S.
If you want to have a nice lunch at a reasonable price, you can definitely count on this place! Be sure to skip hot days otherwise you would be told the AC is “broken” !
N. E.
Nice venue, average food.
Soggy parma that they put on top of chips which makes soggy chips. Not a hard dish to get wrong but they did.
Friendly staff.
E. G.
Pretty average. Slow service and expensive pub food. Wouldn't rush back.
V. N.
Had meals there during Gran Fondo bike ride event. Meals & service excellent. Also great indoor play area for children
C. M.
Food was delicious but took a long time to come out. Staff were friendly and obliging. Would go back again
T. E.
Very clean and friendly staff they make U feel welcome
K. A.
Service was great and so was the food. Nice view of the ocean and wide range of choice from the menu.
L. S.
Good meals. Great service considering how busy they where
S. C.
Great atmosphere at night, though the prices of their oysters left an after taste to the view during the day
E. R.
Amazing location; rooms with a tremendous view. Room was fabulous and all staff at the hotel, bistro and bar were more than helpful.
B. C.
Fantastic location, yum food, but definitely on the pricey side. The upper balcony is lovely to sit on and enjoy some food.
D. p.
Nice place to eat, we had a late lunch on a sunny Saturday drive. Food was great and staff was friendly.
P. G.
Ok, when you pay $28 for a Chicken Parma and it's just one of those minced, watery chicken nuggets you buy at the delicatessen it's pretty disappointing! Give me a breast chicken parma anyday !
b. d.
Stayed there last night and it was ok. An older establishment with the querks that go with that. All part of the experiencGood bed and shower and huge tv with ocean view for a reasonable price.
M. H.
Great pub food, friendly service and by far the BEST Chicken Parma in Australia!
V. R.
Big serves of choice food Awesome calamari. Cold beer and great staff, you'll want for nothing with this view!
M. R.
The food was delicious! Staff were very accommodating and professional. I will definitely be returning!
x. x.
Old fashioned but the atmosphere is laidback. The service is laidback and casual as you would have at a regular local lub. I went over to watch Hughesy and Dave. An incredible experience :)
M. S.
Good value meals, decent portion size. Fresh and tasty. Not amazing but still pretty good.
S. X.
Havent stayed at the hotel but went to the restaurant twice. Service is very good and food excellent. Offering a stunning view on the ocean aswell. Excellent atmosphere.
I. F.
Very comfortable and clean digs, close to the Lorne SLC and tge pub LOL. Meals good and the view of the bay and sound of t h e surf was priceless
k. h.
Nice place to eat. Good food, views and friendly staff
j. b.
Fast service with amazing coastal view. Allround a great experience couldn't ask for anything more.
A relaxed atmosphere would definately recommend a visit is you are passing by.
C. R.
Great service, delicious food topped off with a lovely view of the beach
W. W.
Great food great view of the ocean 🌊 little bit over priced
t. t.
This place is so relaxing. Sitting on the deck, a glass of wine in hand, with views of the beach and if you like people watching then it's perfect.
J. A.
Classic coastal pub
J. S.
Not many veggie options other than a $27 dollar risotto. Luckily there is a pop-up pizza place there now with a great Margarita for fifteen.
D. H.
Good family feed, not sure why there is a need for a surcharge for card use in 2020. Feels like an extra charge the owners can get away with
L. B.
The people and company were extremely pleasant and was a wonderful beautiful hotel food was AMAZING and delicious and the veiw was gorgeous the people thpugh were just so friendly
N. N.
Had dinner on a Friday night, school holidays - so the hotel was packed. But the fettuccine Marinara came out promptly and was excellent.
K. O.
Cool bar, love the outdoor deck area. Wedges were underdone but the kitchen were about to close so can understand they were rushed.
A. N.
Good food, great veiws and atmosphere. A cool place to go for feed and some drinks on a sunny day
l. j.
Great food and location. The head chef also went above and beyond to cater for my fructan intolerant friend.
P. B.
Great food, excellent service, awesome views.
L.
Food was terrific, and accommodation was clean and comfortable..
L. W.
Good food
R. T.
Meals were overpriced, but cooked well.
N. C.
Very good food and friendly staff. It is a bit on the pricey side.
B. M.

Food is A1.
D. S.
Decent food, amazing view, average beer selection, brilliant kids play area
J. S.
We have a very nice clean room, very comfortable
L. G.
Very large typical Australian pub/hotel. Outdoor seating. Good food.
T. B.
Can't beat the location, sitting out on the deck having a beer with cockatoos on the rail & watching the surf on a sunny afternoon is my happy place.
J. W.
The hotel did a great job accommodating for the big holiday crowd by opening up the function rooms which was a lovely quite place to enjoy dinner will be back
D. R.
This is a big old family run hotel on the water front in Lorne - had a ocean view room with good facilities and sounds of the waves on the beach when I opened he window - pleasent
S. H.
Meal was ok though salad could have done with some tomato Drinks were expensive $5.50 pot mid beer and $3.50 pot soda water other than that was ok
H. S.
Salads tasted terrible!!! Strange combinations & flavors that did not go well.
Everything else was great though.
S. K.
Good food, large portions, quite busy though and can be a little busy. There are some renovations being done.
N. B.
Food and service were excellent, lunch special was a fair price for the location.
B. H.
Location is first rate. The hotel however tries to be something for every occasion and does not excel in any singular department. I also have a problem with establishments with gaming venues. The meal was OK
M. D.
Vegetarian curry was great but there were people in there and at least 17 of them were demons - 6 of them told me they had seen a demon, and one of them drove to the venue in a van with a demon driving
J. S.
Fantastic location overlooking the beach. Big rooms that can cater for lots of people.
G. R.
Refurbished recently, top dollar for accommodation. Restaurant very expensive, PLUS 2 nights accommodation without ROOM SERVICE !! Not impressed
S. R. K.
Movida Lorne is a pearl. Fantastic food and knowledgeable staff makes it a 5 * dining experience !
H. M.
Room serves it purpose and offers nothing beyond what's advertised. Nice and easy 1 minute walk from the hotel to the beach and beachfront shops.
P. T. N. D.
Its great view and location, i ll give 5stars if the food was nicer and didn't take so long to serve
V. K. &. B.
Right on the beach front. Meals were nice but mine had a bit toooooo much pesto.
S. B.
Lovely food, and atmosphere. Live music was better than average. Would attend again.
k. s.
Eat here all the time, great family restaurant. Great food.
S. D.
Great staff and great food. Has a good friendly atmosphere.
J. A.
Great pub food. Great beer garden and good spot for kids to play!
L. Y. X.
Nice to sitting out there having drinks
Just it was bad the weather was terrible, cold and wet 😆
P. W.
Need to improve on the restaurant table service, $120 seafood platter and had to go and ask for bowls and plates! 😕
M. C.
Look, the chips, wine, beer and mojitos are stonkin BUT the gravy to chip ratio is a bold move not near enough gravy
B. H.
Such amazing service from the staff and the duty manager nick was very accommodating thanks NICK 😇
L. C.
Ok, great view. No seniors meals? No roast?
s. a.
Very close to the beach . Walking distance. Great view and greater ambience. It offers very entertainment for a family stay .

Great location, great facilities, however we found the food a little expensive. Tasted great though so no regrets
R. C.
Well worth eating at , service fantastic , good cold beer , worth a visit
d. t.
Great place for a feed and a checky beverage or two and top views to match
A. T.
Classic spot for a meal and a beer, with the deck overlooking the surf club, beach and right down the main strip. If you've been to Lorne and haven't been to the pub, you haven't done it right.
P. M.
A seaside bar, very big and can get really busy. The cost of food/drinks is quite pricey. Also food portion size is huge.
J. C.
Great food and service with a fantastic view.
A. S.
Excellent service and dinner menu in Covid times.
P. H.
Nice food, pleasant atmosphere - does close a bit early though.

Love this place, being out on the deck with a beer and awesome seafood platter. Mmm yum
R. W.
Very nice food. Great pub but flies are a problem in dining room
A. B.
Decent place, craft beer slightly overpriced for Victoria, wedges appeared to be fried and not baked (weird)
L.
Great view, great beers, great TAB, great place to always use protection. Chlamydia causes infertility
E. H.
The food was excellent and fast to the table like I've never seen before!!
C. F.
Absolutely great. The meals are great the service is great. The view in awesome.
R. G.
I went to Bottom Bar in the afternoon for a couple of drinks and place a bet at the TAB. I was surprised there was no Keno, the bar itself was ok, nothing special.
D. E.
Many a long afternoon and evening have been spent drinking at the Lorne Hotel. Food its great and it comes out quickly, even when busy.
L. B.
Good was quite nice, but it seemed a bit weird ordering at a counter like takeaway
R. M.
Great food and beers. Really didn't vibe the incredibly loud rnb bangers at 6pm on a Tuesday
S. M.
Had a great dinner in the bistro with friends. Steaks were cooked perfectly.
P. D.
Friendly and efficient bar staff, good wine and pleasant atmosphere.
U. Z.
Food was good. But service was below par when they are charging that kind of money for food
M. S.
Beautiful spot, great rooms and excellent service all around!! And of course great views..
S. W.
Lovely place for lunch. Great views of bay from balcony dining.
S. H.

Great food and drink options with indoor and outdoor seating, great venue for live music.
M. M.
Nice food, good kids area. Great views!
r. d.
Nice little quaint place right by the sea and in the center of the town. Comfy rooms and good food options nearby.
G. G.
Clean and renovated rooms. Good location. A tourists place so a bit pricy.
K. P.
Could not have stopped at a better destination along the great ocean rd. "Paradise" is how the company i was with, described it.Totally agree!

Cracking place to drink away an afternoon. Food is good, beer is cold, view is great.
M. L.
Good location, lunch was decent as you'd expect from a pub.
T. C.
Really good food and service. Could do with more seating to watch the footy
W. M.
Good family pub, playground machines are a bit suspect though.
R. H.
Great location, friendly stuff, food was delivered very quickly and it was very tasty
V. P.
