Don't let the old school appearance of this pub fool you.. this isn't an average joint! High quality pub food served in their quaint dining room and a couple of levels of drinking space including a rooftop for sunny days..

Love the atmosphere and vibe of the Marquis of Lorne, 2nd time i've come back and never disappoints. Great hearty meals, and good beer selection all for a reasonable price. 3 levels so it always has something to offer for any group.

Recently came for a group lunch on the weekend, seating in the dining area on the first level. COVID measures have been well implemented with easy to find QR codes and hand sanitiser dispensers throughout. Service was good despite it been very busy. Good range of drinks but the standout was the food, all the we had dishes were excellent. The fish burger, pork belly and the asparagus were three of the highlights but all the dishes we had were delicious. Each they used fresh herbs which really took the food to the new level. Great pub, definitely recommend.

This local Fitzroy institution was an awesome surprise find. Wandering in from the busy and crowded pub downstairs you would be excused for lowering your expectations. But walk upstairs and the place transforms from a busy local pub into cozy restuarant. Open fireplace roaring, room lit buy candlelight and a few laps this is an awesome date spot if I've ever seen. Staff are attentive and watchful, constantly checking in and covering each other with skill and grace comparable to most hatted restuarants in the CBD. The menu is quite extensive with everyday favourites, alongside some creative alternatives and daily specials all very well priced and won't leave a burning hole in your wallet. Wine list is decent with plenty of variety available to suit any palate. Very impressed with this venue will be back again to check out the rest of the menu! An absolutely fantastic Melbourne foodie pub! If you're coming with a group book the room downstairs behind the bar. What an awesome dining experience. The bar is simple; quality beer and one small tv with footy. Middle level dining room is lovely with an open kitchen, 2 open fires and bright sunlight from the windows. Top level has a little cocktail bar and 2 rooftops-one for dining and one for drinking

Been here a few times now and the food always delivers. The roasts are good but the chicken on the main menu is the highlight. Overall the value is incredible. Unfortunately service is way off compared to the food quality and lets the kitchen down - kitchen is top shelf and service team is seriously amateur unfriendly hour. However still well worth the visit.

Awesome pub with great service! The Marquis of Lorne has a good selection of beers, great quality food plus their staff are friendly. It's a nice local spot mid week and then packs out Friday and Saturday evenings, especially out on the roof top. I always book a table ahead when dining Thurs - Fri as the second floor restaurant books out fast. They also have a lovely private dining room on the first floor which is fun for birthdays. My regular order is the rockling fish burger or the spring veg risotto - both big servings and delicious.

Great pub. Excellent drinks list with a huge range of craft beers and ciders. They have a great happy hour where all tinnies are half price. Food is also excellent. They have a few levels, with a front bar at the bottom, a dining room on the second level and a great rooftop area.

The decor and staff are wonderful but the space in which they must work is limited; and therein lays the only shortcoming of the venue, it's horribly loud in the bar but this has nothing to do with staff. I feel just a few patches of acoustic foam would go a very long way to diminish the crescendo one has to endure. All in all a very enjoyable venue just that it is somewhat loud within. One of my favourite backstreet pubs. Food is great with an ok selection of beers and wine. Visitors to Melbourne should definitely check it out as it’s a great example of one of our many inner suburb pubs. It’s not a sports bar (good thing).

Great meal here, lots of character, one of the hardest working and slickly organised kitchens I have seen. They are on view to all and work in the smallest space in the place. They certainly deliver. We booked out the private room for my fathers 60th in May. Couldnt be happier! Food was great and the room offered a cosy fireplace to escape the cold. The beer range is great for anybody as they offer everything from carlton draught to more boutique beers. The wine list is also out of this world. The staff was also very accomodating. I really love this place and will be back again.

Cosy, non-pretentious and a good place to grab a beer on a cold/wet Melbourne day. Open fireplace, footy on the TV and good pub snacks - recommend the chilli and aioli potato cakes (3 for $6). Beers are reasonably priced and are available on tap (including jugs) and tins. Service is fine. Can get a little busy on the weekend, so be prepared to compete with the noise but it is a pub after all.

Just after a few laps of the slack line at the Abbottsford convent me and a few fellow spirit animals thought we'd sample a couple of cold ones. We found out it was steak night so we thought we'd treat ourselves. We were given blank stares when we ordered 6 tofu steaks so we got the potatoes chips instead. These were consumed whilst a taxidermy deer shed a tear above us. I've deducted 1 start accordingly. However, when we reached the rooftop we didn't think we could get higher. Boy was I wrong.

Probably my favourite Melbourne pub. The food is a little hit and miss but the parma is always awesome. The place has a great vibe and the upstairs balcony and function room is fantastic. Stay away on Friday and Saturday nights when the bogans invade fitzroy. Unfortuntely, management has changed and while the place is still awesome, the staff are pretty horrible.

A bit of an institution of the north, MoL is a multi leveled pub I feel has elements of an Aussie Leaky Caldron vibe. Big Hagrid and his gang would sink some froths here. Nothing fancy about the meals, but having a cheeky Bev here is a good time. Get around it.
