Yum at good prices! There was a live performance as well, which was great. My friend requested for our table to be wiped clean; the lady staff just gave him a piece of cloth for him to wipe it off himself. It was OK, maybe the staff was busy, but quite a funny experience. 😅

Nice busy pub by the promenade. Great for a stop after shopping or just if you are passing by. Good cocktails, plenty of beer to chose from and very kind service. The burger sliders were ok. The only downside is that restrooms are up stairs which will get kind of far after a few drinks.

We came here for their Happy Hour... which is every Thursday & Friday between 4pm – 7pm, where you can get Espresso Martini, Gin Pink & Tonic, selected local pints, and cider pints for $10 each. It's safe to say that we had 3 rounds of their amazing Espresso Martini and left very happy! I definitely want to come back on Sunday as I was told that’s when they have their live band after 2pm.

This place is amazing with a great bar and terrific food. The staff are amazing and go out of their way to help. I saw a Brian Mannix and Tim Henwood gig here and suffer osteo-arthritis and chronic pain and as such can't sit on a high stool and a staff member organised a low seat and table for me - (sorry I can't remember your name) but you deserve a huge bonus. Absolutely outstanding service and venue. Parking is also close at the DFO shopping complex.

Nice place to have some drinks and nibbles. Happy hour gas limited drinks but happy hour nonetheless. Great atmosphere, they also have a live music setup, not sure about how it works since no one was playing music whilst we were there. On the same note the music that was playing was fairly okay, could have been better. But wasn't super loud that you couldn't hear the person next to you. Very chill and casual vibe. Would recommend (families were also welcomed)

The establishment is in a lovely location and convenient for convention centre attendees and those staying in nearby hotels. The food was ok. The staff is super friendly and helpful. I’ve been able to eat at many places in Melbourne so far, and this meal has been the most underwhelming so far. No balance to the flavours and textures. It’s just ok. The view and the place is nice and likely even better at night after a few drinks!

Good service but food is so so. I ordered fish and chips - chips were good but fish was very bland. My friend ordered the steak. It was cook right but the meat quality was.... Salt pepper squid was good.

High quality, fresh food. Ordered a Parma and thought they were small but in reality it was just a very big plate. Could have chosen not to put chips in a paper tub and plated them next to the Parma. Order took about 30 minutes in a near full house.

I had a private function here a few months ago and it was perfect. Amanda and her team were amazing and very accomodating with all of our special requests. Everyone had a ball and there was plenty of delicious food and drinks. I would highly recommend and wouldn't hesitate having another function here... i just need to find another reason for a party :) thank you Amanda

I went here twice both on Friday after 5 (after 4:00PM on Friday you could enjoy some $10 cocktails and $1 oyster). It could be a little crowded and you could not find your sit. But I think it's worth it. The drinks are good (I tried Pornstar Martini and Espresso Martini, I love these), cool atmosphere (noisy but not club type, enough noise for the heat but still good for conversation, would be idealistic for small group of friends but alone is just fine), the music is hype but not the EDM type, more like upbeat and fast tempo pop type, and the oysters are fresh eaten with a red sour sauce that I believe to be red vinagar (even taste better than fresh lemon juice but they will give you some lemon wedges with you more a classical ), the light is not too bright (you could still read a book here if wanted but dark enough to feel relax and float with everything happening), good price even without happy hours. They do take reservation for tables and parties with different areas for your choice. The location is perfect: right next to DFO South Wharf. What could be better than shopping and end up with some booze? Even though I mentioned cocktails but I find that many people enjoy a large glass/bottle of beer here.

Always a great atmosphere. A little hidden away but well worth it! Food is lovely though a little small for what you pay for and plenty of drinks to choose from. A little pricey but well worth the quality. The photos attached are the Porterhouse and Scotch Fillet steaks.

Good spot for a beer and great location. Nice and close to many other bars and restaurants along South Warf. Has live bands every weekend, lots of television screens for live sport and also puts on a great show for the Super Bowl each year but get in early and make a booking. They also take function bookings for Christmas and work functions and have inside and outside seating.

Really nice tasty food for lunch and very good cold drip coffee. Nice place to go on a warm day with big fans on the roof and aircon inside. I had the beef burger it was very delicious the chips were fantastic. At $22 it was a bit more expensive than most places for a burger lunch.

Went for an early Sunday evening family dinner. I've lived very near Melbourne Public for over a year and have never chosen to go in mainly because whenever I've passed it the front section is packed with loud men in huge clouds of cigarette smoke. But on Sunday evening there is none of that and the inside is actually really pleasant. We sat in the very comfortable dining area at the back - plenty of space, comfy chairs, nicely set tables. We were warmly welcomed by staff. We had steaks and a Parma - all absolutely delicious. Found my new favourite beer 🍺, the Estella Damm, they have it on tap. Staff attention was just right. Toilets were clean and functional. The only thing that concerned us was when someone was smoking out front, in the smoking section, the smoke was blown into the restaurant. So we would definitely go back but will try to avoid busy times when there might be more smokers.

Held a private dining function in their Citizen Atrium for 40 people. The staff were fantastic to deal with and very accommodating. The menu was great and they catered for many guests that had food intolerances etc. Chloe deserves a special mention as she was a fantastic host on the night, going above and beyond.

The atmosphere here was fun and lively. However, the drinks were not great. I ordered a margarita and they had no idea how to make it. The bar tendered had to look in a book then made the grossest drink I've ever tried. Got another mixed drink instead but it wasn't much better. We were not impressed.

We had our Christmas Party at the Public Bar last night and it was amazing. Fantastic food and the service was 5 Star. I would highly recommend a visit to experience the atmosphere and great hospitality at a terrific location on the Yarra in the heart of Melbourne. I will certainly be returning on a regular basis. Totally great atmosphere ! Saturday for my best friends birthday we arrived with 25 of our friends. All were let in, no dramas, no discrimination. Surprising considering we are a bunch of all sorts. Apart from the cocktails being extremely tasty. The bar service was impeccable. My partner being coloured, often gets knocked back at places and finds it difficult to order a drink at best. (Horrible right!) Upon approaching your bar, we were both asked several times if we had been served. Which blew me away! The staff were fast, happy and so attentive. It was fantastic. I just wanted to commend your staff on having pride in proper venue etiquette and value how customers are treated. Because I can tell you there’s many places in Melbourne that have lost my business but Melbourne Public is the only place I always seem to come back to. Amanda x

Would have given it a five star rating as the food and the cocktails were brilliant as were the staff. The only thing was they took their sweet time cooking our lunch and brought entrees out with mains. A hour wait was a little much. My food was not really tasty but my husbands food was awesome. Good beers on tab. Had to wait a while despite there was not many people around. They impressed me with the 2 outdoor areas 1 for smokers and one for food service. Great idea to accomodate new rules. Siting and eating we could not smell the smoke.

Love this place for Friday after work relax session with $1 oysters from 4pm-7pm. The lace has a very open vibe with both inside and outside seating. Great location with plenty of other options around it and not too far from public transport. Their happy hour espresso martinis don't hurt either.

The venue itself is lovely, nice decor and classy. The service is also really good and staff are friendly. The downside was the food, the chicken was burnt, as was the turkish bread... After three menu items we wished we had just gotten our dinner somewhere else first.

My favourite bar in Melbourne, we rocked up here for birthday drinks for my wife after another venue had stuffed up our booking the staff were friendly & very helpful and even put together a few tables for our group of 20. Drink prices are a bit high but consistent with the local area and the bar snacks were awesome.
