They have a dogfriendly outdoors “beer garden” upstairs and really go above and beyond to make you feel welcome. Great experience all around! Will definitely come back many times :)

Wow, only bottle shop part open on a Monday arvo evening but what a wicked beer choice and great service. These people know and love their beer. Sitting outside banging down a few great craft beers, some even at take away prices was an exceptional way to spend a couple of hours in the middle of Footscray with a much more village atmosphere than I expected. Would love to visit when the bar is open but have run out of time.

You can bring food in??? WDF??? (Read on) Drinks: As soon as this place was open, everyone knew it was gonna be a hit. Drinks list is off the hook. Especially for whiskey lovers. Service: Bar staff are super friendly. It gets super busy but they still remain very professional and composed. Ambience: It gets packed. But funnily enough, we have pretty much always found a seat. Open air smoking area outside as well. Value: You get more than what you pay for. Very reasonably priced. Summary: You can bring food in??????? Seriously. How fricken’ cool is that? There’s a pizza shop right underneath and you can order from them and bring it up. The only other places I have seen do that are 2 plane rides away. But in food heaven Footscray? Far out.. seriously…

Nice fitout, great beer and whisky selection. Quality of venues in Footscray is up there these days! Bottleshop on the ground floor and has a large seating area with a smoking area upstairs. Big beer selection on tap. Noticed a lot of local Aussie whiskies on the back shelf as well, seemed like a decent general selection of whisky compared to most places.

Love the team here. Super helpful and a great selection of wines, spirits and beers that you don't normally see in your standard bottle shops. Support them during this Covid_29 period. They can take up to 10 peeps at a time. Unfortunately - the rooftop bar is closed on Monday (and Tuesday ) night. So didn't get to experience the place fully. However, good tunes and selection of drinks. Enough for me to want to go back.

Craft beer, good wine, better spirits and great cocktails are the big draws here. The crew here focus on friendliness and passion which ripples throughout, from the guns on the taps to the lads in the wine shop. Behind the long bar there's a huge wall of 26 rotating taps to keep your attention piqued. And the bomb here is you can bring food there is a pizza shop right underneath and you can order from them and bring it up. Only other places I have seen do that are like 2 plane rides away. But in food heaven Footscray? Its the bomb in my backyard thanks boys for the awesome service …

My very favourite bottle shop in Melbourne. They have an insane surcharge for drinking in (downstairs) but offer discounts when you buy more than 6 beers at a time so I guess it's alright? The selection is well worth it, so I'll let it slide. Otherwise, wait til evening and go upstairs to drink on tap minus the charge. In addition to beer, this spot has a great natty selection (and lets you BYO food!) What's not to love?

We had the pleasure of attending an online zoom cheese and craft beer tasting with cheeses from France and Craft beer matchings supplied by Mr West Bar and Bottle shop in Footscray. Mr West came up with a really good collection of local craft beers and the matching were explained and made sense. Favourites included the Molly Rose Pamplemousse Bleu Belgian style ale with a citrus backing and 8% alcohol and the Future Mountain Fireside smoked porter. Both of these really worked with their cheese pairing and were great to try. Can’t wait to visit Mr West’s in person when I am able to venture beyond my 25km bubble again.

Great selection of Craft Beers both in the bar and bottleshop, can get abit pricey especially if you Drink In as the prices include $4-5 corkage but your gonna enjoy almost everything on offer here. Great vibes in the bar, but if you can best to do your shopping in the bottleshop and grab what your after as takeaway to save yourself alot of dollarydoos.

Mr West is one of the pioneers that is breathing life into Footscray’s emerging bar/nightlife scene. They have bravely established a drinking hole on the graveyard of a $2 shop in the heart of Footscray’s aging mall. Excellent range of craft beer, wine and cocktails pouring from their 24 tap setup as well as an impressive range of spirits. Being a craft beer fan, I was impressed with the delicious range of beers available. The choice of pot, schooner or pint also makes trying a range of beers more affordable. There is something for everyone which makes you feel less guilty for brining your non-beer drinking mates here. The cocktails are unique but approachable, I can confirm Caleb’s Special Drink (beetroot based) and the Espresso Martini on Nitro are delicious. It has industrial feel to it with stripped back concrete walls, large timber beams, booth seating, natural light from skylights and a minimalistic layout. My only gripe with the layout is the rather uncomfortable low wooden stools. It’s not the kind of seating that makes you want to stick around and I noticed most people on this seating left after one drink or moved to the booths. Perhaps higher bar tables would be more comfortable however, I understand there are plans to improve the seating arrangements. A small rooftop courtyard sits at the front which to be fair will probably be crammed with smokers most of the time. Cheese and charcuterie boards are available and you can also BYO food from nearby eateries/take-away shops. Relaxed environment with friendly and knowledgeable staff. I will definitely be coming back and swinging by the bottleshop when it opens. Hats off to Mr West.

Mr West is a specialist food, wine and craft beer bar in Footscray. I was invited to participate in an online cheese and beer pairing night recently. The drinks were all local craft beers from Melbourne including La Sirene, Future Mountain and Molly Rose. I've reviewed Molly Rose before here on Zomato if you want to have a look. I look forward to visiting this place in person now that we can travel up to 25kms.

Regular rotation of taps with enough to have a good variation of beers at any time. Also have negroni on tap. The downstairs bottleshop has a good selection with 4 double fridges; wine and an increasing selection of spirits - probably the best mezcal selection by far in the area. Currently has outdoor seating as well. No full food options but all the takeaways locally will deliver and can have any other food delivered.

Very cool centrally located craft beer bar in Footscray. Amazing tap list with regular changes and tap takeovers. Definitely one of the best craft beer bars in Melbourne. Reasonable wine list too and some nice charcuterie and cheese platters available to cleanse the pallet in-between drinks. Decent range of beers in the fridge, all slightly exxy - and then you add $4 corkage. MR WEST is easily one of the best craft beers bars in Melbourne. Downstairs they have one of the best set of fridges chock full of craft beers, and always have great staff on hand to assist you in your selection of the beers, and the wines available as well. Upstairs is a refreshingly relaxed industrial style bar (stripped walls etc) with fresh craft beers on tap that are constantly revolving, so no two visits to MR WEST will be the same! MR WEST has raised the standard of what I thought a craft beers bar should be - I've always brought friends here as it is my neighbourhood bar, and I wouldn't take them anywhere else! :)

The new Footscray? Felt like I was in Norrhcote . Good size venue, if you like your craft beer you'd definitely like this place. Friendly staff not sure about the prices also not a fan of the wall of mirrors and the big tables nearest the outside area. Narrower tables means not having to yell across the table to be heard and they're a little more intimate .
