Met friends at Murmur at 4:30pm on grand final Saturday. We had the place to ourselves. It's small but perfectly formed. Lovely art deco inspired decor and art works. Selection of drinks is good. Service was good but not enthusiastic. We sat at the booth seating which was comfortable but the stools looked very high and uncomfortable. Seating around the grand piano looked great and I could imagine it would be fun when the piano was being played. Might go again if the opportunity arose.

Friendly, informative and unpretentious service. Drinks were delicious. Worth booking a table as it's crowded. It's up a flight of stairs so not suitable for wheelchairs. Pricey but what you'd expect for CBD cocktails. Nice atmosphere, not so loud that you can't hear the person you're talking to.

Had one of the best nights ever after just googling ‘piano bar’ and discovering this little gem. With Tim on the keys and vocals he really worked the room well and had us all having a great whole room sing a long. With no cover charge we had a ball in this quirky little upstairs room. Go early to get a seat otherwise standing room only. Oh, and great cocktails too

I have been to Murmur several times. The cocktails and the service are excellent. You can ask the bartender to make a tailored made cocktail for you by telling them your preferred spirits and your preferred taste.

Cool little bar off Little Bourke, great selection of beers and some really fun cocktails. Happy Hour is really extensive and includes a lucky choice spirit. Good place to go and hang out with some close friends. Bar tend staff are not always the friendliest. Had one bartender who decided to practise his flare instead of just serving us. His flare definitely needed work, dropped the same thing 5 times.

Another hidden secret down one of Melbourne’s CBD laneways. Exotic atmosphere, great drinks menu and overall nice place to have a few late night drinks. Shame about the electric keyboard though, not a real grand piano.

An amazing little place tucked away in an alley, through a door and up some stairs. The cocktails are excellent and while there's no beer on tap their craft beer selection is comprehensive. A great place to relax with a few mates and enjoy live music.

Amazing experience. Intimate room that looks beautiful and you feel right at home in. Friendly staff that can cater to requests that go off menu, though you need not with a great cocktail list and nice selection throughout. Had one of the best nights there last year, piano player was amazing. Crowd pumping. New piano player a couple of weeks ago and very different vibe. Don't know if a piano player who starts his set with a two handed single finger salute is the right person...the venue and decor still amazing.

I LOVE this piano bar! It's quite an experience, with fantastic live music from the piano man who actually knew all of our requests. And I thought a couple of them were pretty obscure too! If you like classic tunes from Billy Joel to the Beatles, to ACDC you need to spend a night here! The drinks, staff and atmosphere are all cracking too. I'll be taking all my family and friends here for sure.

Friendly staff, great atmosphere and the bar staff know how to make a drink. My go to drink is a Negroni, the bar staff here make an exceptional Negroni the best in Melbourne in my opinion. Only the best spirits go in the Murmur Negroni if you don’t believe me just try it for your self!

Looks like a great venue and the food was brilliant (if not a bit pricey). Unfortunately our docket was lost so our drinks took over 30 minutes to arrive, but to Murmur's credit they did not charge us for the round. The only reason I'm giving 4 stars and not 5 is because on the night we were there (with a private area reserved for a birthday), Murmur was also hosting a speed dating event. It meant the bar was uncomfortably full and that we spent half the night trying to get people off of our reserved tables. I'm sure on any other night (sans speed daters) it would have been a much better experience.

Cool music, friendly staff, big enough to have space but also has a really good, Almost theatre Cabernet type atmosphere. Drinks can be delivered to your table and if, like me, you end up having too many, as long as you're not a wally, they even look after you, get you water and very nicely guide you out and home! Can't ask for more and the music can be hilarious, bring ya singing voice. :-)

Stubbled across this little gem with the missus. Found down a small alley with a small door, if you don’t know it’s there you will miss it. Walking up the stairs opens into an intimate bar with the piano man belting a tune in the corner. Definitely recommend and what a night. This place won’t disappoint.

Snuck in here with a group of work colleagues after a workshop. The place is a little hard to find so you tend to stumble upon it. The atmosphere is very quiet and laid back. I loved the feel of it.

Away from the hustle and bustle of the Hardware Lane, this cosy Spanish restaurant offers a chic and relaxing atmosphere for chill out after work or a catch up with friends for birthday. After sliding the door opened, I saw the chefs in a compact kitchen at the back. What caught my eyes after sitting down was the two walls of wine racks from ceiling down to the sitting area. Quite a view with the racks are fully stacked with different 'coloured wine screw caps'. The staff has no problem to ID the location of the wine when the customers make an order; impressive. My friend ordered a bottle of Argentinean wine Acordeon Malbec for the birthday boy. It's smooth and easy to drink; liked the low alcohol content. Not a very traditional Spanish menu, but it's easy to settle the choices among four of us. Loved the roasted eggplant with full charred aroma, delicate Peruvian ceviche, yummy croquettes... Hmm, everyone seemed to dug into the MurMur bravas; the spicy sauce was so good with it. The star culinary experience was the Andalusian style fried squid! Seriously amazing with the mayo foam; just unforgettable taste. As one of our friends is vegetarian, we ordered the veggie paella. It's rustic with al dente Calasparra rice (I felt that was what used; pardon if wrong). Well, we did clear the crust off completely. Simple desserts. But I wish I had reserved some room in my stomach for 2 more flan caramel custard! It was a recipe from a 1-Michelin star restaurant in northern Spain. Next time. The cheesecake was light and creamy. But for churros, I felt it needed a bit of 'fluff' inside. There was a live band upstairs. But we were a bit lazy to walk up coz everyone was tired after a long day... The staff was friendly, attentive and knowledgeable. Thank Q for making us feel comfortable and relaxed. ps Pardon no photos coz we were a bit hungry and dug into the food as soon as the plates were landed on the table...

One of the best hidden cocktail Bars in Melbourne. Matt and Kylie are always fun and interesting to talk too, and can whip up something delicious based on a flavour suggestion. The Italian Job and the Lemon Ginger Mojito cocktails rock, and delicious Spanish tapas can be ordered from downstairs.
