This is a very nice Pub/Hotel. Great service heaps of staff. Unfortunately we did not have a booking long weekend plus the Hotel was hosting a private function and all other tables were booked. But thanks to the Manager who was an absolute charismatic character the sort of person you need in the hospitality industry he found us a table which we appreciated very much as it was a little cold to sit outside. Great wine list and the food was lovely. The bowls that our food was presented on had been pre warmed which for us was an added bonus stopping our food from going cold. I highly recommend this hotel and we will be back.

This iconic pub has been completely restored by Eammon and his team to live on as one of the greats. It's kept its traditional pub charm whilst being a clean, vibrant, cozy and welcoming environment for all who walk in the door. Food is impeccable, great bar selection, and most importantly crisp cold beer. Kudos to all working and involved in this huge project.

Went there with a friend. The staff were incredibly friendly and approachable. The drinks came out quickly and the food as well despite being very busy and with staff shortages. The cottage pie was deliciously flaky and rich on the inside. My friend got the barramundi fish and chips and the batter was crispy and the fish was cooked perfectly. If you're ever in the area, the Pig and Whistle is a must visit.

✅✅✅✅✅ Highly recommended!!! We were welcomed by friendly accommodating staff on Australia day, the feeling you get entering the renovated but preserved hotel gives you a warm invitation. Enjoy the public bar, or dining inside or outside, or the beautiful beer garden(bring your pup!) The music selection ranges from Sinatra to Elvis to contemporary..perfect!! The meals were superb, on our table of 3 was the Guinness pie, the cheeseburger, and the barramundi, mouthwatering and delicious! A relaxed hotel with attentive friendly staff!!! Came from Melbourne to visit the famous Pig & Whistle only to realise we accidentally booked for the one in Olinda and there were no reservations left for Trentham. However, Maddie, who I believe was the manager on the night, kindly squeezed us in and allowed us to get a meal and a drink. Great food, friendly service and an exciting atmosphere. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the Wombat Forest area. Thanks again to the staff for making time for us.

Who would expect to find such a great pub so much in the middle of nowhere! A great spot to drop in for a bite to eat or to hand about for a few hours. Kid friendly, dog friendly and grown up friendly too! (I.e. plenty of spots to separate yourself from the kids and soak up the tranquillity)

The Pig & Whistle in Trentham East is back OPEN. A group of 6 of us were up from Melbourne at the weekend and had lunch here on Sunday and the food and service was exceptional (the Steak and Guinness pie I had was delicious). Popped in for Sunday lunch. It was snowing outside and we got a seat by the fire so I was nice and toasty. They do a three course roast lunch for just under $35, pretty good value. Starters was tomato soup, tasted home made. A choice of roast beef or pork, we both had the pork. The meat was moist and tasty and the crackling crispy. Points off though as the plate was stone cold. The sticky toffee pudding was yum. Service was fast and friendly. It’s not a fancy place but good value and welcoming.

Over the years we have enjoyed their traditional Sunday roast. A great little country pub. The grinding pressures of running this type of business has taken its toll and there has been a succession of owners, but, despite that, it hasn't lost it's mojo. Bookings at the busy times seem advisable. Handy to Trentham.

Unlike the pubs in Trentham that cater for weekend visitors and ramp up the prices, the Pig and Whistle understand what a true local pub is and get massive local support. Deservedly so too.

150-year-old hotel surrounded by farmland with very casual atmosphere, a cosy dining room and a warming winter menu that includes slow-cooked lamb shanks, duck curry and roasts on Sunday. You can only get a good at lunch and dinner times thought.

The pub in a paddock is definitely worth the couple of minutes drive east of trentham to experience the true county hospitality and charm that all visitors and locals enjoy. Peter and barbera have worked wonders on this exquisite interesting and welcoming little wonder just outside of trentham. The food is great and it's served with a smile and is generous in size and the quality is better than I expected from this little pub sitting out on its own 3 or 4 kilometers east of trentham. The uniqueness of this establishment is one to be experienced by all who pass this way and are looking for a great night out and exellent food and intriguing surroundings. We walked out of the pig and whistle near closing time knowing that the locals have truly something that most of us wish for.... but rarely find.

We eat there often because the owners are so friendly and will always go out of their way to make sure our food is how we like it. Being vegan, often we can't find a good pub meal experience, especially in regional Victoria. But I can vouch for our non-vegan family and friends and say their experience has been just as nice as ours! I was there recently enjoying some St Patrick's day festivities. It was such an easy friendly atmosphere with local musicians getting together with fiddles, guitars, Irish drums, tin whistles, flutes, home spun drums and a gorgeous harp. An old man sitting in a wheelchair playing the Irish fiddle must have been at least 90. The Guinness was flowing, families and friends getting together from all around the region and further afield. I met some people who just out for a Sunday drive from Melbournes' Eastern suburbs. It doesn't matter whether you are a local or fly-in, everyone is welcomed well at the Pig & Whistle Hotel. Did I tell you the owners are Irish? :)
