Comments of Robot Bar
J. D.
Great bartender/owner, makes excellent cocktails, with beer on offer as well as a quality array of sake. I can't claim to be a sake connoisseur but it was easily the best sake I've ever had. Small, cosy but modern venue with ground floor seating as well as a mezzanine, from which you can better enjoy the Anime projected on the wall every Tuesday night at 9pm (get there early with a small enough crowd and you might be able to choose the show as well).
C. D.
Super nice little bar. The owner is really friendly. Great selection if drinks.
R. G.
Such a cosy spot.
Big shout-out to the owner working solo given the pandemic.
Very friendly atmosphere, the booths upstairs are intimate and relaxing.
Drink prices are very reasonable, and you can tell the professionalism behind each drink.
The house Sake was amazing for $18, definitely would get it again.
A group favourite was the Yuzu Liqueur, we couldn't not stop ordering.
Would come back again, a very niche spot - and would be a great it for a date night;

This Japanese animate theme bar has been around for more than 10 years now. Great decor and atmosphere. It has great selection of spirits, beer and especially Japanese saké. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable in Japanese saké.
R. C.
Fantastic little bar, good for small gatherings with friends!
S. D.
Great imported beers and cocktails in an ambiente that vaguely reminds of Blade Runner. Friendly staff.
A. B.
Always a great time at Robot! A pioneering Melbourne institution, hiding down the end of an alley.
The earliest supplier of espresso Martinis I'm aware of :D (going back to at least 2002)
Great selection of cocktails, sake, shouchu, beer, wine, and spirits. Small range of bar snacks also available, or, if you're more hungry, pop across the lane to sister ramen restaurant, Mugen. Upstairs, downstairs, and outdoor seating.
P. V.
Quirky, hidden spot. Good selection of sake, beer and cocktails to kick on for hours.
Cool collection of robots places around the joint. The staff very friendly.
J. H. (.
Just amazing. Beautiful service great cocktails and a good selection of sake. The ambiance is very chill and the service is top notch. Value for money is on par with other establishments but with a higher emphasis on quality and selection of alcohol, food and service.
D. T.
No robots to be seen other than figurines. Drinks a little expensive, but I was ordering fancy cocktails. Cool vibe... Would go and check out. Nice place that doesn't have the music too loud.

Absolutely lovely. Authentic Japanese style of one on one service. Cutely decorated. Great cocktails. And food to match. Highly recommend for a step away from the rat race with a bit of funk/jazz/disco chill time. Great range of liquor on hand, bar tender knowledgable and hospitality skills through the roof. Thanks for a great time.

I first wandered in here with a date when we were looking for something to drink, having tail-ended our evening satisfactorily enough to want to go and sit together somewhere nice and cozy. Robot bar offers narrow but strong selection of local and international wines as well as plenty of Japanese drinks as well. The bar is Japan themed, with Kanji-like patterns and a pretty contemporary setup. I think they do anime movie screenings too.
I had a fine time here - my only quibble is that the toilets are a little close together so if you're a little marinated and you're not paying attention you're liable to sideswipe or just walk straight into someone coming out of one of the rooms.
Most def a recommend. The wines I mean, not the toilets.
A. P.
If you're into sake or want to try some interesting types and you appreciate a quieter environment, then I'd give this place a go. FYI - beers are only by cans and not Tap
P. U.
Staff are reallly friendly. The venue itself is querky but not intimate. You get a lot of sake for your buck.
A. T.
Love this place funky Japanese sake bar. Super cool but totally relaxed. Meeting place for after work drinks or students or hipsters. Can't recommend this place enough! Staff are friendly, drinks are good and the ramen is excellent.
R. S.
Excellent range of Sake. I visited this place in 2017 with Japanese mate and he gave me a bit of grief for taking him to an anime bar but he liked the drinks and that's what matters. I love that they project the movies onto one of the walls of the bar - that's awesome.
R. E. H.
We love Robot Bar. It's small space and cool mezzanine means that just a few guests give the place a vibrant atmosphere, and it's never dead. Interesting cocktails and beer, and the most delightful pair running the place! Definitely a good stop next time you're in the city.
A. L.
We were the first customers of 2018! And we will continuisely give this place a solid 5 stars. Easily my top 3 bars in Melbourne, it's never super busy, the bartenders are incredibly knowledgeable and it's the perfect place for date night. It doesn't hurt that some of Melbournes best ramen is served right next door (also owned by the same people).
N. V.
My fav spot ever to sip Yuzu and watch people. Owner is the most sympathetic Japanese guy that goes above and beyond to give you the best customer experience ever. I have been going there for years now and will go again whenever I can.
S. P.
Cozy spot for quiet drinks with tasty Japanese restaurant right next door, or a range of Japanese dishes available if feeling peckish. Service is always great, food and bev reasonably priced.
C. L.
Love the atmosphere and the decor of the place is very cool! I like that it’s tucked away in an alley so not too busy/noisy. Prices are okay, will definitely be back!
L. S.
Awesome little laneway bar. Great service and staff are so friendly. Couldn't believe how cheap a bottle of Chandon was. And they have a great selection of Japanese beer, sake, local beers and house cocktails!
N. M.
Great staff that are happy to guide you through their sake list.
They seem to be a fan of Ardbeg as well and have some now rare releases. So peat whisky fans keep your eyes open. Unfortunately, they finished their bottle of lord of isles by the time I got there.
J. A.
Nice hidden away atmosphere.
Friendly staff.
Large selection of drinks.
T. N.
Nice food and drink. Recommend the chicken wings
J. B.
Always a great place to enjoy a sake. Staff are friendly and helpful and will suggest a sake to try if asked. Prices start from about $26 and go up from there.
S. K.
Robot Bar is an authentic take on sake bars in Tokyo right here in Melbourne located at the end of Bligh Place on the right hind side. A large selection of sake and Japanese beers are on offer (along with traditional drinks) and the sake menu is great for beginners who don't know much about the alcoholic beverage. The staff are also very willing to help with you and offer detailed descriptions to help with your sake selection. Outdoor and indoor seating is available.
A. G.
Brilliant little laneway bar off Flinders, lots of kooky wall art, a robot chandelier and best of all - a vintage pacman arcade!
The drinks weren't too bad either, and the small selection of Japanese bar food was great, all served by very efficient bar staff.
E. T.
On of my favourite go to little bars on a Friday after work. Its not swamped with office workers or pre clubbers. Being tucked down a lane way obscured by other venues makes it that little bit harder to find.
W. B.
Great little Japanese bar, the bar staff are always friendly and helpful. Excellent cocktail options, imported Japanese beer and sake. Definitely worth visiting.
l. b.
Such a cool little place specializing in sake, Japanese beer and whisky. Love the decor and anime played on the screens. Wish we had a place like this in Brisbane!
B. R.
Amazing little hidden gem! The staff were very friendly, had a really good relaxed atmosphere 🤟
B. D.
Love the location at corner of the alley way. Great atmosphere. Loved the Sake. Good location for a catch up with friends over a drink.
G. B.
Great tapas. Shame about the last smoker who couldn't be told it was inappropriate smoking near people when eating. Not the bars fault if course.
B. Y. C.
Very friendly owner and a variety of selection
M. K.
Cute little bar at hidden at the end of an alley, amazing cocktails and a nice, different vibe
R. T.
Great little spot and not too busy or crowded. Cocktails are a little expensive but still delicious.
J. S.
An ok bar (3.5 stars).
26 AUD for a regular mojito was not good value for money. I did like Japanese animation display.
D. W.
The pizzas here are amazing! Quite small, but good value and unique flavours like okonomiyaki and Japanese curry chicken.
J. D.
One of the best bars in the CBD, I've been going occasionally for a few years and I love their cocktails.
S. B.
Small and cosy, so avoid with a large group. Staff are extremely friendly, very relaxed atmosphere. Great place for a quick catch up.
S. L.
Great vibe on a Friday night. Staff were kind and the sake was beautiful. Will definitely return when back in Melbourne.
M.
A small and quiet japanese bar, offering your usual drinks, as well as some from Japan. A perfect place to catch up with friends in peace.
L. W.
Cosy little bar tucked away in an unsuspecting laneway. Drinks aren't the cheapest but good selection of beer and Japanese alcohol. Great services decent crowd
s.
Amazing little bar, a little on the pricey side for drinks but definitely worth the experience.
The food is wonderful and service is great.
A. R.
Good for after work drinks!
d. g.
Have some great ramen at Mugen next door then come over for a nice selection of sake and local and Japanese beers.
a. m.
The bar is tucked away in a narrow street in Melbourne, but adorable with its cool vintage robot decor, video games. Loved the feel of it
C. M.
Fantastic array of sake. Knowledgeable and attentive service. Great little bar tucked away in one of Melbourne's laneways.
E. G.
Very trendy bar, good atmosphere. A little tight not good for big groups.

G. B.

B. W.

A. L.
Great atmosphere and super friendly staff - great place to go if you want a decent range of drinks and to avoid wankers.
I.

Will be back there.

Highly recommended! Friendly stuff, yummy food (pizza especially), nice place!
D. M.
Taka offered to show me his elephant tattoo. He's rad. But does he really have one? That is the question.
k. d.
Bartender is not that friendly to us when we were there. Hope it will improve
