M. A.The American Creswick is a great place to grab a meal. Dine in or their take away are both magnificent. Their take away meals taste just as good as if they served you at your own table. We love their chunky chips and ribs are divine. Finding the American in Creswick was one of the best things that come out of Victoria’s lockdowns.

E. M.Brendan has been busy during lockdown and has made some improvements to the hotel. The place always has a lovely ambience. There is a great wine list and all good variety of cocktails to choose from. Last night I had the rump which was tender and cooked to perfection by Adam.

Definitely a "must" visit if in the area. With Brendan as the owner/manager, it was easy to see the staff were happy and content in the workplace and enjoy what they do, which made our evening all the more enjoyable.
I cannot recommend The American Creswick highly enough.

A. d. L.I absolutely love coming here for the small town charm and the friendly staff. The owner Brendan welcomes us with open arms when we go, and we have never had anything but great food and drinks.
I highly recommend the peppered sausages, pumpkin curry, or if you're feeling cheeky, the beef burger goes down a little too easily.
Take the time to visit Creswick, and the American will never let you down.
V. E.We had a drink and dinner here and the food is seriously good - a real gem and will def return. I had the peppered sausages with mash which were fresh and tasty and locally sourced, hubby had the ribs which he said were the best he has eaten in ages. Great atmosphere and service.
n. c.Service was great. Mains were fantastic. I was disheartened by my dessert, carrot and fig cake. I was told it was apple and fig at first. Aside of what it was it turned out to be a little dry and over baked.
D. S.Oh I do love ribs and these were excellent. Served with nice fat chips and a fresh coleslaw, it was quite the meal and plenty of it.
The kids menu was surprisingly varied and saw that the portion size was reasonable.the staff were lovely and extremely helpful as I tried to work out what to order - the choices were plentiful.
This place has an lovely atmosphere and from of the posters, they have LIVE acts at various times. Looks like a place I’ll have to revisit and explore again.
Notes: wheelchair accessible, kid friendly, good parking out the front, caters for dietaries.
j. s.I had the pleasure of staying in this beautiful hotel for an overnight work trip.
I was greeted by two friendly ladies and my heater in the room had been turned on earlier so it was warm n toasty!
I stayed in the downstairs room, which has a bathroom adjacent. The bathroom is clean and spacious, and the shower pressure is awesome.
The car park has night lights and I felt very safe throughout my stay.
Will be back for sure :)
Z. B.The American is my favorite pub in the Creswick area and one of my favorites in Australia. It’s classic, historic and the food is top notch. Highly recommend the southern fried chicken but everything we’ve tried there is great. And the lovely owner Brendan gave us a tour of the 19th century upstairs function rooms and balcony bar overlooking the local countryside. Always good to see a beautiful historic building being kept in top condition by loving owners.

We ordered southern fried chicken and American burger. The chicken was fresh, succulent and cooked to perfection, great flavours and very impressed we wanted more. The burger was good and very impressed.
Staff are very friend and had wonderful chats about our baby and dogs. A few small things like ask having to ask for water and napkins where the only faults but nothing that would stop us from coming back.

s.Absolutely delicious food to be found here time and again. Have been coming here for 3 years, and have never had a bad meal. Some of the best coffee to be found anywhere in Victoria. Friendly, attentive staff enhance the experience. Highly recommended.

A. G.Travelled from Ballarat and had a fantastic lunch today at the American. The food was exceptional and the staff were fantastic; attentive, helpful and knowledgeable. Our waitress made sure the kids had crayons, their meals came out quickly and she recommended the best beers and specials for us to consider. All in all we thoroughly enjoyed the meal and will be coming back again soon!

A. P.Australian country towns and American-style burgers, not your typical combo but at The American in Creswick this is what you get. On a quiet January day, I took my family there for lunch and had a wonderful time eating some polished fare. The prices reflect a higher quality standard and we ate quietly outside.
I'm sure that this place would be busier outside of the holidays but it's worth trying a couple of burgers and the mac cheese for the kids.
