Lovely pub. Really friendly staff working. Plus they have their glasses chilled!!! Nice to sit for a while under the veranda and watch the world go by! Also, I paid with the wrong card, with no hassle I was refunded and paid again.

Wednesday lunch, the place was packed, the limited staff were tremendous, remembering each customer's drink order while serving meals. No problems with splitting the bill for our large party at the end.

Please consider a visit, it's a local independent pub, with no TAB or pokies! In terms of tap beer; it's CUB including Guinness, plus Harcourt cider. And in the fridge, ShedShaker and Holgate; so over all Beer Variety 8 / 10. Wine is almost universally sourced locally, which is truely supporting local 👍 There is a dining room, and outdoor beer garden. Plus, check with pub, there's a good chance for live music! The only drawback is that there are accessibility issues regarding facilities and actually getting in 😥. It is an acknowledged issue that is in the pipeline to be remedied. Give this place a go! This is a great pub with pleasant and helpful staff. We booked at short notice as was found a table in the garden out back. The weather was great so this suited us well. It was busy which is not unexpected on a Sunday in Maldon. Each of us selected different dishes, Salmon, Steak and a Lamb Curry. We all agreed that the meals were fantastic. Parking is plentiful as well. William there again on our next visit.

Booked on Easter Monday for a table for 6 - last minute but the owner was more than accommodating. I was presently surprised on how well the customer service was. One of the waitresses was the daughter in-law of the owner and had a great personality that made us feel at home and sense of humour. Small gifts to the ladies on the table was given. The food was amazing and so quick to come out. No joke like 20 minutes and all the food came out at once. They make their own chicken Snitchels and my steak sandwich was perfect. The place was packed and to be able to keep up was wonderful. Toilets clean and upon paying for the meal the owner asked how everything was. If I had to come back to Maldon which is a wonderful town, I would definitely be going back to the "Roo" hotel - Apparently the only hotel in Australia called the Kangaroo Hotel?

Great spot at Maldon. Lovely shady beer garden. Good selection of bar drinks, professional friendly staff. We stopped on a very hot afternoon after 18 holes at Maldon Golf Club. We'll be back.

We just went out for a drive and embarked on this little country town pub. It is a very welcoming and homely place. Beer garden was just wonderful. The whole place is child friendly. Staff is so so so friendly and relaxed. Food was good and the portions I would say are large. Would definitely go back.

What a gem, Kangaroo Hotel Maldon. Brilliant food and service all with love! We had dinner there after a bad run up, kitchen closed, no problem, they rustled up vegie lasagna, salad and chips which was lovely. Went back tonight and had the angus burger , sticky tofu and the sticky date pudding- again made with love, fresh foods and it again didn’t disappoint. Thanks Jess & Donna great pub and country hospitality. We will come back!

Was open for late lunch whereas the other one decided it didn't want to serve tourists who were a bit late (2pm). Just a pity the kitchen staff didn't tell the bar staff who thought they were still open. We know which one gets repeat business.

Dog friendly rear courtyard. Good solid food. Don't go expecting Cordon Bleu or Melbourne Hipster pub food; it's solid old style country pub grub. All the usual classics. Nice countryard to sit in warm weather or outside under the veranda

The Kangaroo opened in 1856. 166 years later, Donna, Jess and Jo provide a fantastic atmosphere, wine, food, and service in a comfortable country pub, in the centre of historic Maldon.

Great atmosphere,good food. Dawn went over and above what was needed. I mistakenly handed over what I thought was a meal voucher that our son gave us. It turned out to nor really being a voucher but Dawn honered it anyway even though we tried to pay. And thank you Dawn, the Port is delicious.

Looked forward to my first visit to the best pub in Maldon, but it was not the best! Friendly service but i didn’t visit for that, I was hungry! The Parma was burnt, veges were cold and had the overcooked flavor. Other meals at our table not exiting either, better luck next time I guess. Back to the second best pub next week because it’s the best!! 😉✌️I will edit if anything changes after more visits. I just upgraded from 2 to 3 stars because as I left when I was paying the bill one of the owners asked me how was everything my reply was do you really want to know she said yes I told her and she discounted my meal from the bill I said it’s OK she said no I said don’t worry about it she said no so very good service and she said please come back which we were anyway stay tuned for the next edit She did apologize no excuses. Fantastic food , Great Staff..If you have travelled by steam train to Malden advise the staff so meals are prompt. Eclectic array of dining tables in dinning room, small bar to the left with outdoor seating. The hotel is just off the main road sitting on the corner. 2 minute walk into town.

absolutely unreal pub, all the staff were super welcoming. the food was extraordinary, had multiple sides with our mains and everything was perfect. The Kilpatrick oysters were some of the best I'd ever had considering it's quite a ways from the ocean. their beer garden is one of the best I've ever seen in a country pub and plenty of space. would highly recommend heading into this pub and seeing dawn and Donna. absolutely belter women and super accommodating, always checking that our food was alright or asking if we needed another drink. perfect spot in the heart of Maldon definitely shouldn't pass this by

The best country pub I've ever been too. My Wife bought a T-shirt, and we are now considering buying a house in the town. The pub a genuine. No pokies, No TAB. There are guitars hanging on the wall for local to have a jam. The Live music they had the nights we were there was spot on. The food was better than most Melbourne pubs, and 25% cheaper. The service was great very friendly, even the French (?) Girl that served us on her first day. The Publican Adam was delightful and made us feel welcome. The locals at the Roo were all lovely, being a small town we stood out as foreigners, and it was one great conversation after another. 109% 6 Stars. Loved it.
