Place has great variety of whiskey. Their steak tastes amazing. They were understaffed when I went but the service was still decent, can only imagine how good their service would be when they aren't understaffed. Can't wait to go back!
S. N. B.
An Irish pub that actually alleviates depression instead of causing it.
If you find yourself thirsty and hungry on a cold winter's day then you can do no wrong coming here.
It has a good selection of manly beers (Pikes stout is top notch) and a food menu that's cheap and pretty decent for what you get.
N. F.
Very nice iconic building,,,with all the favourite alcoholic drinks including the Guinness Irish beer,,,and some great meals there too.
M. J. (.
Cozy atmosphere, Friendly staffs, They have own Irish music band who play irish music Every Wednesday and Sunday.
J. S.
Such a fun place to enjoy St patricks day, live bands all evening and great food. Staff were really friendly however probably a bit understaffed for such a busy night as it took us quite a while to find someone to order our food with. However, overall a wonderfully authentic Irish pub!
R. H.
Top places food good Guinness nice and music excellent
D. L.
Staff were super friendly, I had a Chicken Parmigiana which had awesome flavour
B. S.
Absoloutely amazing staff, Irish musicians in on some nights playing amongst the patrons. Really good vibe, great prices for drinks and the food is on point!!! Highly recommended.(when covids over)
D. A.
Really nice place, good selection of rotating tap beers and fantastic food.
Try their parmas and curry-sauce chips.
D. R.
Fantastic food and very helpful bar staff, willing to switch up the menu as after the excellent entree I was looking for a lighter option...
K. P.
Such a fabulous place! Hosted an event here and the staff could not have been more accommodating or helpful. Their outside space was perfect for a private function, and the atmosphere was lively and enjoyable. Would recommend to anyone wanting to organise a group event stress free.
K. O.
A perennial favourite - so good to get back and share some laughs with mates on the weekend. The owner and staff know their customers well and continue to win over loyal followers with a quality menu (especially the snacks), friendly banter and a great vibe. Keep up the good work!
C. C.
Good atmosphere, traditional decor & cute snug.
Trad music some nights, the food is amazing!
P. V.
Didn't manage to get a booking, but the guy on the phone was so nice, I'll definitely try again when its less crazy. Thanks!
M. O.
Incredible venue, lovely atmosphere with a fantastic food and drinks menu! Staff are friendly and accomodating whenever we visit and there's plenty of great areas throughout the venue to relax with drinks or sit down for a meal. Would recommend this venue to anyone in the Carlton area!
J. L.
The best Irish pub in Melbourne
C. P.
One of my favourite pubs in Melbourne, can't go past a cold beer & some hot Irish chips. The staff are always so helpful and the traditional music sessions are always great!
F.
Excellent place if you're looking for a feed or a pint with some friend, lovely service from all the waitress and exquisite food from the chefs highly recommend for all occasions
r. r.
One and only irish pub around that suburb.... not busy but nice vibe and friendly staff.... food was great.
G. M.
Went in on Halloween night to catch up with some mates and experienced some Great, tasty food., TBH wasn't expecting it to be as good it was 🤦♂️I had the salmon gnocci - the gnocci were more like big dumplings but SUPER tasty., I'd go back for that. and of course how could you got to an Irish bar and not get the curry, cheese chips?! with lots of sauce they were spot on 👌 Top marks Chef, and the wait staff were super friendly and fun too - apologising that our table was booked for a sitting after us, which was not their fault yet still they were ever so nice about it :)
A. M.
Excellent non-pretentious Irish pub. The staff are very friendly and certainly know how to pour a pint. The decor is what you'd expect from an Irish pub and there is a wood fire which really hits the ticket on cold winter nights. I had the Irish Coddle and although it needed some seasoning with salt and pepper, it was delicious and reminded me of when my mum would make it for me as a kid. At only $20 it was fantastic value and very filling. Their house Shiraz was very smooth and great value for happy hour at $7 when so many house wines in Melbourne are barely drinkable.
J. M.
Great venue - very relaxed atmosphere and pub vibe
J. B.
Love this place, couldn’t recommend it enough. Staff are great, service is great, food and bevs are great, seating areas are great, vibes are great. Do yourself a favour and check The Last Jar out. You will not regret it. 10/10
N. B.
Guinness was admirable. Cool, soft head and not too gassy
L. H.
Brilliant night for St Patrick's Day in Melbourne, plus it was our wedding anniversary, married in Birmingham 36 years ago.
J. B.
The service was good, beer was great, wanted to steal the Heineken glass (but didnt), the food was pretty average. We had chicken wings which were a bit dry and the parma was deep fried? and a bit dry. The pub itself is quite nice, good for a drink and chat, just the meals we ordered weren't great, perhaps other meals are better.
J. F.
Came over from Perth for the Grand Final, stayed just around the corner and stumbled upon this gem.
Ate and drank there the Friday night, the food was sensational. Proper hearty home made pub grub. And the staff were so friendly and accommodating. So good in fact that we were back there again the following night!
Cheers guys.

If you're passionate about quality produce, this place is a must! Fresh seafood is sourced daily from local suppliers. Try the blue grenadier fish and chips. The menu also includes traditional Irish dishes which were delicious and well accompanied by a couple of cold pints.
E. R.
had my 40th birthday here, unforgettable night! Siobhan and Tim made sure I had the best night. My guests and I had dinner, and everyone loved the food. I would highly recommend this pub to anyone wishing to have great night out. great food, great beer and wonderful hospitality.

R. O.
Delicious food and amazing service. Great drink selection too.
C. R.
Amazing food and such a great spot to really settle in with a few friends over drinks... We had dinner and then ended up staying on for a while for a couple of drinks. Can't believe they make so much of their produce in-house... unbelievable food, great service and even better prices... Loved it!
J.
Awesome atmosphere on a Wednesday night with the open session. Great musicians sharing wonderful music. A fantastic vibe that is different to loud doof doof stuff.
M. H.
Great Irish themed pub on Elizabeth Street, within walking distance of both the CBD and Melbourne University. The Irish poutine listed on the menu is actually just normal poutine however. The Irish theme is noticeable but not too strong, making this established best enjoyed when used as a good general pub in a convenient location. The beer garden upstairs is also a great place to escape to.
C. S.
The best pub in melb!! The mulled wine and cider are amazing, there's Irish music sessions Wednesday and Sunday eves, and the staff are lovely.
M. B.
Really enjoy coming to this pub, great atmosphere, food and beer. Staff are great as well. City prices, but reasonable for the most part.
T. C.
What an awesome little pup with a homely atmosphere. Great for groups big and small, the staff are lovely and friendly, and the range of pub fare and drinks available is brilliant.
A. R.
Typical Irish pub. Lovely service and great happy hour prices!
G. N.
We had a birthday celebration at The Last Jar - the night was magic & made all the easier by Siobhan's can do attitude.
Food & the staff were great.
Just as it was cosy in winter, would love a summer gathering on the roof top.....
G. T.
While stranded on a cold winter night in melbourne, The Last Jar was the closest place found on Google Maps.
Upon entering from the side door, we felt the warmth expelled by the open fire place and the the place was filled with chit chat from the patrons, either the people at the bar or groups of people seated and dinning on the hearty Irish food.
We decided on a few dishes, Pork Scratchings, Battered Sausage, Potato & Ham Hock Stuffed Pig's Tail, Black & White Pudding and Beer Battered Fish & Chips with Tartare Sauce and Mushy Peas to finish off washed down with a Pint of Mornington Brown Ale.
The food was delicious the Staff were very pleasant and helpful and the atmosphere was spot on.
I. N.
Best Guinness pie in Melbourne
C. S.
I went on a Wenesday, so there was some live Irish music which was lovely. The food was nice, the staff were good and helped to reccomend a beer for me. Nice evening :)
C. T.
You can't beat The Last Jar for somewhere to have a drink or two and a good conversation with friends. It's a great atmosphere and the staff are always helpful. Not at all The Arthouse I remember from 20 years ago, but then again I'm not the same deadbeat either ;)
J. N.
Great Pub. Lot of atmosphere. Good Menu. Great Guinness and the Jamieson.
Discovered the Upstairs BEER Garden this time too. Cheers Nicko and Claire Xoxo 😎🤣🤣
T. T.

J. L.

G. H.
Delicious hearty meal. Great flavours, great chips, what you hope for when you hear Irish food. Wild Mushroom pie is highly recommended.
B. H.
Excellent house made beef patty on a soft potato bun. Creamy yummy seafood chowder perfect on a wet winter's night.
T. R.

P. C. S.
Good food. Great beer. What more can you ask? They got "beer garden" on the second floor. The beer here taste really good. Highly recommended.
R. C.
Not a bad pub. Was previously a popular heavy music hang out. The current operator is restoring the upper levels for accomodation. Cant wait to see when finished.
S. H.
I love this place so much.
The only thing I would change is moving it closer.
Excellent value for high quality meals and attentive service.
N. B.

Super friendly staff, super great food for all budgets, and good old Irish charm with pretty much the best Guinness in town.
