I came here for a work lunch this past week, and I'm glad for that, or this may not have otherwise been somewhere I'd go to. They seated us upstairs in what can be an open air rooftop, or as in our case, a covered rooftop area with a fireplace. It was cozy and warm despite the awful weather outside. You use your phone to scan for the menu, and go up to the bar to order. The guy said the food might take a while since there was 11 orders coming in all at once, but really, it wasn't that long at all. Mine of course was one of the last (seems to be a recurring theme with me) but the guy was really apologetic and it wasn't a big issue. The food was delicious and filling. Generous portions for good prices. Everyone loved what they got, and even though it's a really casual, pub type of place, it was all well presented and everything was clean and made for a good lunch. I'd definitely recommend coming here whether it's in summer or winter as they cater for both, and it's in a good location with reasonably good parking. Really enjoyable.

Brilliant Parma, the chicken was juicy, I liked the ham, and it was the right amount of cheese, sauce and ham. No need for a reservation, parking close by and easy to find, enjoyed the rooftop dining area.

Upstairs is beautiful with gorgeous hanging lanterns over the bar and massive umbrellas outside while being surrounded by creeping vines it's stunning and perfect for dinner or a sunny lunch. Food is super good and quiet heavy. Not a great salad selection but the tap beer selection made up for it. Definitely my new local!

Tucked away in St Kilda, this place has a great cosy atmosphere up in the rooftop dining area. Sheltered from the wind but open for the sunlight. The roast rotation is great. We went for the pork belly Sunday roast and definitely weren't disappointed. Fast, friendly service with a smile and joke.

Looking for a venue for a celebration can be time consuming especially close to Christmas . The rules and regulations around menus, total spend etc can be confusing. The Local Tap house were fantastic to deal with and Monica Lay the function co-ordinator made it a breeze. Prompt quotes, function run sheets and easy payment and communication made this birthday stress free. Our waitress and all staff on the night were wonderful, never had to wait for drinks and the meals (roast) were delicious. Communications throughout the night regarding our tab were spot on. I would recommend this venue 10 stars if i could.

Such a pleasant experience on many levels: - The venue has pub-like qualities but taken a step up. Especially the upstairs dining room is quite classy, plenty of space, good lightning. - The staff was super friendly. The server who took care of us was quick, polite while still casual, and seemed genuinely happy. Either a manager or the staff are treated well. - The food was delicious as well - the parma was just the right size (and not over the top) with just the right crispiness to the chips. The prices are fair!

Although it's quite close to where I live I don't go in as much as I should! Love the 'pub feel' with its nooks and crannies. We sat upstairs and enjoyed a mulled cider. Very tasty. Varied menu. Pub grub with specials. Reasonably priced. Still need to go to a trivia (Sunday) or comedy night (weekly?) here asap!! Great bar on Carlisle with NO POKIES!! A rarity these days. Great little traditional pub. Came in and sat at the bar. It was nice and quiet for conversation, although quite busy. No TV's, and lots of couches/seating areas. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable, the food was good, but most importantly, the beer was amazing! Such a wide array of craft from all styles and regions. Great atmosphere and great Sunday Roast. We certainly here for the special roast beef lunch and realised it was served with a bone marrow. We are not a big fan of bone marrows and they were kind to exchange it with a Yorkshire pudding for us as the kitchen wasn't too busy at lunch hour🙏🙏 This pub has a roof top outdoor dining area.. it's a great place to enjoy the meal while soaking up the warm autumn sun! Visited on a wet and windy evening, not long after Covid19 restrictions had been eased in Victoria. Needed to book in advance, and had a nice spot upstairs in the beer garden. Ordering food and drinks was accomplished through an app. Not particularly intuitive or convenient, but the service was extremely quick. I imagine this is only a temporary measure while the world sorts the virus out. A mini storm blew through and forced us inside; the staff were very accommodating in finding us a replacement spot downstairs. Good beer, and highly recommend the cajun fries. Delicious.

We visit The Local Taphouse pretty regularly and have always enjoyed it for the rooftop, great vibe, and amazing beer selection. Because of that, we decided to host our wedding reception there in a function room. It was the absolute best! Briana and the staff were all so helpful throughout the whole process, answered all of our questions, and helped us create the perfect reception. The night couldn't have gone more smoothly, and Briana even coordinated with friends from abroad who couldn't make the event, and had surprises waiting for us when we arrived. And the food was delicious, everyone kept talking about how good it was! We really can't recommend them enough, or thank them enough!

Absolute legends. Beer list is amazing. Downstairs has a classic feel and often has casual live music. Upstairs has two areas with individual dining, courtyards and bars. We loved this spot so much we had our wedding reception there. We got an entire upstairs area with separate entrance, bar, indoor area, bathrooms and courtyard to ourselves, for as long as we wanted, with whatever beer's we wanted on tap, and whatever drinks behind the bar. No booking fee. They're just a "can do" kinda crew. The staff are the friendliest and most welcoming bunch of legends. I've moved interstate and miss it dearly.

This is a great pub with a fantastic beer selection, brewer afternoons, great meals.and really cosy spaces to spend a few hours. I can easily see why it won Melbourne pub of the year recently. The beers change from time to time which keeps it interesting. Nice wooden decor, fun pictures from the past on the walls and a genuine 'local' vibe makes this feel like a pub in Ireland or a beer cafe in Belgium. Well worth a visit or three!

This used to be one of my favourite places in St. Kilda/Balaclava and was the first place I went with my friends when hospitality venues opened back up. Unfortunately, the new ordering system on your phone made it a terrible experience. Mr. yum, or whatever the name is, makes you order, through your phone, with no waiter or interaction with staff. TGI Friday's yes, but proper, established hospitality venues, who pride themselves on good food, drinks and SERVICE - this just ruins it. If it's there just to combat the COVID restrictions, then I understand. If it's permanent, I won't, regrettably, be back. The food and drinks were 5 stars, but it has to be 3 stars for the ordering system, it destroyed the experience. I'll happily update the review to 5 if it returns to normal.

Limited food menu but what's there is very nice, I had the lamb pie which was delicious. New beer menu once a month with a huge list of craft beers if that's what you're into. We've been regulars at the Local Taphouse for over 10 years. Absolutely love the casual atmosphere, food and beer selection. Had a fantastic meal recently , the standout was the Tomato and burrata salad and the Porterhouse special. Chicken parmas are my usual fare and always excellent. The chips were really nice though. Love the decor & set-up (lots of couches), it's not too noisy, nice bartenders. Just a nice place to be.

Have been here numerous times, and also hosted my 30th birthday in the upstairs function room. Great ever-changing range of beer, both tapped and bottled. Participates in numerous Good Beer Week events each year, and the staff are quite knowledgeable if you're not sure what beer to have. The food is great too, pub fare. Try the chicken strips! Upstairs is a roofless beer garden with long tables and umbrellas, as well as an open fireplace.

Great food. Great beer. But don't let the name fool you. This is not likely to be your local if you value good vibes and fair patronage. The staff are very self-righteous. I've seen two guys laugh at a woman who asked for a hopsy beer. 'Well they've all got hops in them', one of them replied. I've seen staff embarrassing people with silly things like a misunderstood order. If you go there for dinner don't make the same mistake we did. We spoke to the woman in the dining section and said we want to choose a few beers from the front bar so we could try the new brews on tap. We decided to place orders at the front and then we were stopped trying to walk back to the near empty dining. 'No, you can't order at the bar and come back here'. I clarified there were no tips required for the dining room, the menu was the same. No reason was given but we were forced to sit in the cold outside. I once asked to quickly see the back room for an event. I was told to come back during the day during the week. I explained I work and the earliest I could come was after work. He said were doing service at the moment so I cant. I looked around at 3 bar staff in the upstairs section and an almost empty bar. I came back on two different occasions and was refused. So if you're the type of person that doesn't mind following the unwritten rules of the bar staff, and a typical outing for you in laid back Melbourne is to places that might as well be in pent up aggressive Sydney then you'll do fine here with the fine beers.
