Great vibe and views of the lovely lake. A laid back pub with big meals. You'll pay 27-30 bucks a meal so not the cheapest but also not as pricey as other places and the portions could feed a few people. Try the flounder it's a amazing 👍

Had dinner on the 2nd Jan 2022 around 1940. Place was almost full. Bit confusing as had a sign out saying meals were finished but people still ordering. Ordered two chicken parmas which were nice, however needed some more coleslaw as it was finished half way through the parma. Seafood basket with lobster for one was best seafood basket ever eaten by this seafood loving person. Tables were dirty and a dog was using the boardwalk near where the tables were as a toilet moved tables as a lady threw up next to ours. Food was 5 stars but rest bought it down.

Metung Hotel exceeded my expectations. The food is actually excellent and flavoursome - albeit a little greasy! But after all, it is pub food. The views are excellent, looking out in a panoramic scenery of the lakeside. It is also a lovely walk to the other side of the Metung where the opposite shore of the lake can be experienced in its full sunset bliss. 5/5

“Interesting” place. We’ve been to this pub a few times over the years. Each time we have felt somewhat “underwhelmed”. It’s OK but. Staff can be a bit “ordinary” at times. Not sure what that’s all about. Food is pretty good but, nothing to get too excited about. Situated right on the marina, with great views over the lakes. We keep coming back so I guess that means something.

Amazing once again!! Such great service even on a busy long weekend. We hadn't booked as we weren't sure where we would be on which night (boat life) ... however, Metung hotel staff were so helpful and accommodating even though fully booked. Ok the seafood platter was a big disappointment with the crayfish. We had better in lakes and was told by locals to try the Swan Reach pub! Should of listened. The Garlic keiv as good. The staff were fantastic but only be having drinks there not food

Metung is an ideal place for a long weekend escape. The Metung hotel is a hot spot in the town center. Very popular for locals and visitors, perfect location for lunch, dinner and drinks. Stunning lake views and easy access via water. The most important part—— delicious food.

We booked via phone call on a busy day and they were so accommodating to give us a great table on the bistro deck overlooking the marina. Although our dining time was restricted to 1hr 20 mins, food came out fast (ordered at the table using a QR code) and the meals were delicious and as expected. We ordered the calamari, barramundi and seafood platter, plus dozen oysters. Serious food coma! Great location, excellent for families. Booking in advance is a must.

Fantastic pub right on the edge of the water where you can take your boat, can get very packed as the fairies bring people in from lakes entrance. Food was amazing and the staff very friendly We ordered duck and flathead tails And calamari and oyster kilpatricks.

One of the best views to eat seafood! 🦞 The place was actually recommended by one of the man that works in the BP stations during stopovers on the way to Lakes Entrance. This is a MUST VISIT when you are around the area. Oysters are so fresh we had to order another plate! 😂 I recommend sitting outside. Very peaceful and relaxing. Food are on the pricier side, but it’s because you’re also paying for the view. Giving them 4⭐️ because I think staff can be more accomodating.

Had a lovely lunch here as part of a cruise. It’s a beautiful location and the food was great however, the staff organising the cruise guests for lunch were very confused and confusing, not sure if they were new staff members but it was rather irritating…they need to get their act together or possibly a bit more training. Also, when I went to pick up my pavlova desert I noticed the staff member was wearing a bracelet with dangling tassels which were dangling into the cream as he handled the desserts…🤮. Hospitality staff should not be wearing jewellery like this, most unsanitary. I’m giving constructive criticism here but also want to assure you that the food was lovely as was the location and friendly staff. They just need to tweak a few things.

Stunning. World Class view of a World Class destination with First Class Service, wonderful menu, huge range of drinks, cold beer, well poured and lovely patrons. Even better was the level of care and attention afforded to us as my wife had a bad fall on leaving. All around people helped us and the staff were wonderful. Big thank you to all. We’ll be back!

My wife and I had been told that this place is great for lunch. So, we visited to try it out. The surrounding area is beautiful and the hotel is located in the heart of the town right alongside the water. I ordered the steak and kidney hot pot which was excellent. It cost $24.90. My wife had one of the entrees as her main. It was a vegetable tart with roasted chick peas and salad. It cost $15.90. She enjoyed it very much. The bar advertises local and Gippsland wines which we wanted to try. However, they're only available by the bottle. So, we had to settle for a glass of Zilzie cab merlot from Mildura. It was pretty good.

Great food and not too long a wait after order of food during busy lunch sitting. The team at the hotel did a great job especially with all the COVID19 cleaning, social distancing etc. I enjoyed the experience with atmosphere and food too.

Great location and venue, but the parma was a sad sight. Nicely cooked chicken, but toppings were all bland with poor coverage. Salad unfortunately looked good, but the drizzle of dressing you see in the photo is all you got, so all the salad underneath was dry. Chips were excellent though. Skip the parma and try something else on the menu, as some of the other meals looked good.

Make sure you book as this place is popular. Or take your chance at one of the outside tables which we did. As we had our dog with us it suited us fine outside. Beer cold, food tasted great and a great view worth a visit if you haven't been there before.

A couple of small things just stopped this from being a really great dining experience. The service was great and the majority of the food was exceptional. I love a good chicken Kiev and the one I ordered was great - crispy coating, moist chicken and an abundance of garlic butter. The service was also fast and very attentive which was a big plus. The main letdown was that the "main" and "entree" calamari were the same size serve - the only difference being the main had a side of chips which really didn't cut it for an extra $12. The waiter seemed quite indifferent when this was pointed out and said words to the effect of "yes, it pretty much is the same". Not the biggest issue of course, definitely something that should be addressed. Cheesy garlic bread decent, oysters okay Chicken Kiev a big yes 👍 If you want calamari, just order the entree serve and a bowl of chips and save yourself the $4

Food is excellent. Especially the chocolate mouse. They have a lovely outdoor area with heating and a log burner so we could sit outside and eat with our little dog under our feet. We pulled up with our boat on the jetty right outside in the arvo and loved sitting out and enjoying a beer looking out over the water. Perfect location. Delicious food. Recommend the local fish!

Great meals. We came on a busy public holiday so we weren't supprised about the 1 hour wait for our meals. However, my spaghetti came out 20 minutes before my partners calamari so I had finished eating before he even started. There was a large group of us though and it was great that the hotel was so accommodating.

Three of the Mains were bought over but none of them had cutlery, tried signalling a team member but they didn't seem to see us. After reading the write up in the herald sun the Sunday prior to coming to the area we just had to have a meal here. I had panko crumbed scallops, my partner had salt + pepper calamari have to say it lived upto the review absolutely delicious. wow, who would have thought. this was a real find, super busy for a holiday dinner with a queue for food orders snaking into the bar area. service was a tad slow as reserved diners in the bistro were prioritised, but once delivered, all was forgotten. seafood platter was unique with touches of chilli and accompanying sauces for the great range of fish, mussels, prawns and calamari. beer was cold and heat lights kept everyone warm for an autumn outdoor dinner. thanks for a good night out.

As a gastro pub, the Metung Hotel has always had a well deserved good reputation - at least that's been our experience over more than 10 years. We visited again on the day regional restrictions were materially relaxed. The service and meal quality were at the normal high standard. An outstanding management response! Wine prices are a little high but the pub has a wonderful outlook; booking is advisable.

The food is undeniably gorgeous and somewhat worth the price, some of the items are, again, undeniably expensive also. The service is very good with some friendly faces who are there for a chat and who serve you well also. Absolutely recommend this place (and Metung in general).

This place is great and food was great but a little pricey. Really enjoyed the service and the people. It wasn’t a really busy place but I went during the east Gippsland fires. The water view is beautiful and definitely worth the visit if your considering going. The price of the bottle shop here is absolutely outrageous, if you want a drink after going to the hotel but it before coming to Metung or you will officially be a poor person on leaving. Also recommend visiting the local cafes and gift shops it’s a beautiful little dock town, really worth walking around.

We dined here twice during the week and learned from our first visit's mistakes. First visit, gorgeous day, weekend, super busy but managed to secure a table inside without a booking (or a nice view). The food took 55 minutes to arrive. I didn't enjoy the calamari, I prefer it to be crispier, however that's why we went back a second time, because hubby was jealous of my food, that's how he likes it cooked. Good pasta and pork belly. Second visit, I booked on Australia Day, pouring with rain, and found they book in two sittings in the room with a view. The noon sitting was only about 50% capacity (no outdoor dining) and food was out in 20 minutes. Now I realise priority is given to people who book since we needed to be out by 1:20pm. Hubby enjoyed his calamari though commented on the serving being small (compared to Central Hotel Lakes Entrance). I've only just read a recent review about the starter and main serving being the same size!! Son ordered the same pasta again since he loved it so much, even the spice, and I ate the parma. Perfect.

A nice place in a town of little choice for eating out off season. 3 out of 4 meals came together with the late meal being an overdone steak. However food was nice if not pricey. 3 adult and 1 kids meal and drinks for $145. Worth a stop in if you are celebrating an occasion.

My steak on Friday night was like a piece of old leather and I wasn’t able to have vegetables with it instead of salad. The seafood platter for one was very poor, oysters very small. It was the closest place to McMillans so we were a bit of a captive audience but the quality of the dinner food was excellent for the 3 dinners we were there for on Mon, Tue and Wed nights. A bit pricey but the cheesy garlic bread was crisp with a moist garlicky butter, gooey cheese centre, the seafood was perfectly cooked as well as the steaks being tender and also perfectly cooked. If we're in the area again, we'll be back.

My partner and I went to the hotel yesterday for a late lunch. As per many previous comments the location is fantastic. The food was also good, though oysters were tiny (we shared a seafood platter). Service, on the other hand, was downright unfriendly. Not a single smile cracked by the young blonde girl who took our food order or the mature-aged woman who served us at the bar. People like that do not belong in the hospitality industry.

What a great place to stumble across in a small little town (if your local and think it's not a small town, I'm sorry come to Melbourne). We decided to stop off for a drink and some lunch as we were driving past, noticed most places in the area were a little pricey, so stopped at The Metung Hotel, what a great choice. Not just the location being right on the water watching the boats at the ramp but the food also. You get what you pay for a it was good value for money with the quality, size and freshness. The staff were friendly and had enough working so you didn't have to wait 15 minutes for a drink. If I was in the area I would not object to going back here.

Great pub right on the gippsland lakes. Very popular so be prepared to wait in the busy season. The pub looks straight out onto the marina and had a lovely grass area, perfect for dogs and children. One of the best locations for a beer in Victoria in my opinion. We pulled up in our tinny to the jetty abutting the beer garden hopped off and walked into the bar then had our drinks looking out over the Gippsland lakes. The next night we went for dinner and the food was well above your average pub fare. I think the proprietors were actually finishing up at the end of that weekend so not sure if the food will continue to be of a high standard but the location would make up for most short comings.
