Went here as soon as it opens in December (after it was declared a tier 1 exposure). Music here is unbeatable. Everything is just my jam. 😅👌🏼 Would love to come back regularly.

An iconic venue that is one of Melbourne’s last remaining gay focused clubs/bars. Have had some great nights at The Peel, met some fabulous people and it never fails to entertain. There’s a large dance floor area well covered by two bars, another quieter area with pool tables & a massive semi enclosed smoking area. Security has always been friendly from what I’ve seen, however if it’s a very busy night i have seen them refuse entry to females which is understandable since it is a gay club!

What a fun place! Had a great night dancing here. It definitely has its own set of rules, set to protect their clientele and fair enough. Anyone not abiding by them is ejected. But the rules are fair and explained when you enter. The music is rad, the crowd is fun, the place is nice.

ENJOYABLE Great music, large nightclub with a great layout in terms of access to bars, smokers space and a great retreat for when the music or crowded dance floor becomes just little too much. Very impressed with the different spaces and layout for this club. Love the back section of the club, how low key relaxing and not headbanging loud it is. It's such a great space and an excellent area! Nice to have a little escape when required. A pretty good night out, expect the usual suspects you'd see at a gay bar, along with some pretty great music and dance hits. Staff seem to be very on to collecting loose empty cups from everywhere and cleaning spaces or spills quick. Only had a couple minor gruffs with bar staff member. To be a little more attentive and also not try pulling a sly one. 1. Attempting the charge of 2 drinks for almost $40 2. I dont understand when you ask for a vodka water why staff go into a different room to fill this? 3. Assuming a sober patron or even a patron in general wouldnt notice a vodka lemonade and vodka water is only water and lemonade? Apart from the couple of times having to deal with the above and going back twice to challenge the above, which also puts a dampener on the night. The club is still a great place to dance and the spaces are excellent, the dancefloor is crowded, but what do you expect for a nightclub with great music and an atmosphere for it?

Always a good time - great social smoking area (very large) and an ergonomic design to the club which encourages moving around and socialising. It can get a bit promiscuous but hey!! We all like to have fun. This place has a strict ratio of women to gay men as it is a preferred gay men venue - don’t be upset, just accept it. Ladies will often have to wait and strict dress code applies.

Guys feel at ease to be who you are without prejudice or judgements or people staring. Dance, sing, party till dawn and then some! Most awesome staff and security. Feel safe and secure in a gay venue where you can do almost anything your heart desires or make your fantasies real...experiment...experience life love fun laughter and good company.

I don’t understand why there are negative reviews for this place. Last night was my first time out clubbing and this place was amazing! Mixed age group, staff were friendly and stunning d queens! Drinks are affordable too! I’ll definitely be coming back!

The best place to go for a big gay dance night in Melbourne. A must-visit! I also loved the respectful yet firm speech the door man gave about this being a gay bar, and warning the women with us to remember that. Sydney gay bars have been ruined by large groups of straight people treating them like zoos, so it was really refreshing to see the speech that came before they let all of us in for a great night of dancing.

A great venue to go to if you want to have a dance to some Diva classics! There is a huge outdoor area that is covered with heating and three bars in the venue. The dance floor gets pretty packed so make sure you grab a spot and get crazy!

Melbourne's exclusive gay male bar, one of the best imo. The music is good, and I feel safe being myself there. The owner is fantastic for sticking up to people about the need for a safe space for gay males. The bar staff are always friendly,

It's nothing stellar but at least you know where you stand at The Peel and know what to expect. It attracts and pretty mixed crowd - providing a pretty comprehensive cross section of the gay community across both race & age. The staff a pleasant enough as too are the patrons. A word of caution however, if you are or are travelling with female companions, there IS a separate queue which does observe its very own on-the-spot induction with a waiver that needs signing & agreement to remain compliant with certain 'T&Cs' to entry. If you can get past that, The Peel will almost always you an easy going & relaxed night out.

The Peel is The Peel. It's an institution, and one of Melbourne's premier gay nightclubs. I've been at least 5 times but those visits have been stretched out over the course of a decade. The place generally fires up around midnight and goes until dawn. They play a lot of high energy dance pop music, which is not my cup of tea but as I said in my opening sentence; The Peel is The Peel. It's a unapologetically fabulously gay club. It's great that such a place exists and may if forever thrive.

This is an establishment for gay men only and they will make everyone else sign a waiver that you won't diminish the experience for gay men. No "wahoo'ing" from the non gay men (that's you ladies). I don't know how they get away with that but the female door bouncer was strictly enforcing the policy. Nice space with lots of rooms and the music was hopping. Coat check if you need it, and men, you need it for your shirt. Just take it off. Really. Do. It.

Great vibes. Very VERY picky venue. Without the right ratio of guys to girls, you'll probably be turned away. It is a male gay venue so they have the right to deny patrons not fitting their criteria.

Peel great music and people .. why is it spoilt by rude bar staff in the middle bar ! lose the attitude ! It's a great club where guys and gals go to enjoy and don't need to be given attitude by the bar staff .. smile!lose the attitude ! if you don't like your job there , leave and give it to genuine people who want to be nice.. it's funny .. one double chinned guy in the middle bar.. mate I would worry more about my looks .. cause you have no reason to give attitude with that chin !
