Staff were pleasant, bar has a pretty cool setting. Pizzas seemed tasty from how they looked. That being said, if you're coming down here to catch up with friends, look for a better place, since with the music is blasting so loud, you can barely hear what anyone's saying and you'll lose your voice by the end of the evening. Feels like they got confused about the primary reason people go to bars - to have a few drinks and a conversation.

One of the best bars I've been to. You can't expect to be a bar as spectacular like this on a Beckett St. So cozy, so good. Definitely a one to explore for the first timers.

Great Rooftop Bar with excellent decor for relaxing cocktail. Only issue was we had to eat our pizza inside and not on the rooftop due to it being a smoking area. Pizza was okay Cocktail Jug was great

Such a groovy, chill place! If you're coming to Melbourne and want to experience something Melbourne-y, The Workshop here has occasional live music events, arcade games and a bar in an industrial-like setting that makes it all so...groovy! Good vale drinks too, will be coming again!

Cool place for late night drinks. There are a number of booths, and an outside section with lots of plants and an open roof. Cons: -People can smoke in the outdoor area and the smoke wafts in through the window. -I had the ‘Melon head’ cocktail jug ($29) and I’m pretty sure it was just soda water with pink syrup in it.

Chill vibes, rad musicians and cheep bevvs. Love the plants and pumpkin pizza! The place is tucked away from the hustle bustle of Melb CBD but super easy to get to. Always a first choice to come here :)

Eclectic industrial style decor, a bar stocked with enough craft beers that will make your man bun spin and awesome tunes that will make you hit the Shazam button so many times you'll get RSI. This place epitomises Melbourne's bar culture. It would be perfect if the food on offer was a bit more diverse but that's hardly an excuse not to come and visit this place at least once.

Not a bad venue, but for just a casual sit down drink there's better places in the city. The slightly cramped, dark and oddly laid out space feels like a dingy dive, with the only semi redeemable aspect being the balcony. The beer selection is tiny and fairly uninspired. Not my first pick, but good in a pinch.

Very nice little hidden away bar. You'd definitely just walk right by it (as we did multiple times) before finding it! Once you've found it you'll love it. Their beer selection is very vast and their outside seating area is pretty good too. The atmostphere is great and so are the bar staff. They're clued up about their beers and what the selection is, very useful for recommendations.

Super trendy rooftop bar upstairs with both indoor and outdoor areas to sit and enjoy the view... and the plethora of plants they have hanging from the ceiling! Love their Pimms Jug and I've heard the food is pretty spot on as well. Friendly staff and very, very cool place to hang out!

I am surprised that it's still the same after 4 years, happily surprised. Very cool place to go if you want to be able to chat with whomever you went there with. Still has decent music and good dj's. Very nice atmosphere and patio area especially for a smoker.

This is one of my go to places in Melbourne. The drinks are reasonably priced and whilst the vibe is a bit dark and grungy, this is not a detraction in any way. If anything, it's a good trait. Plenty of places to squirrel yourself away so you can have a robust chat without anyone hearing but you can still hear yourselves. Place has a great vibe and their pizzas are spot on if you're pekish.

Decent place for a drink. Occasionally the music is a bit loud if you're going to be able to hear your friends speak and the pizzas are fair play that average. Everything is reasonably priced and fairly casual though, so if you're not expecting too much it's a solid place.

This place will actually refuse you a drink if you look unwell. That's a positive in my book. They also served ginger beer which makes this place even better. Other than that I don't remember the rest of the night. Only left the place with positive feelings, the good kind..

Great outdoor area with ferns and palms adding lush green. Great to chill out on warmer days especially with a light must hitting the spot in the evening. They have a good $10 pizza and cider deal on a weekday lunch too. Its near enough to rmit that it can be busy with students at peak semester times and post exam periods, but usually pretty calm and easy enough to get a table for a small group. Retro video games and art inside all a great bonus.

Great bar on the edge of CBD with a decent selection of small brewery beers. And 4 pizzas (varying from online) for$10 each with a $5 beer option. Smokers get all the outdoor section, no food allowed out there because of smokers - great for smokers ;)

Never a bad time here, super chill and quiet during the day, great 12 dollar jugs if you're a student before 5. Delicious 10 dollar pizzas with updated menus every so often, and are generous with the tobacco sauce (I can't tell you the number of bottles I've gone through here with their pizzas), awesome music and lively social scene at nights. By far my favourite bar in Melbourne, I'm here most days of the week

The staff always make a place and everyone here is absolutely lovely. Pizzas are also delicious (and Vegan) and the drinks are all reasonably priced. Tuesday nights feature live tunes which is a great way to chill out for the night. Good if you like chill. Not a club banger kind of place and you will not be listening to the top 40 in there. Looove the lay-out and indoor / outdoor area. Probably my fav bar in Melbourne... so far.

I went to The Workshop for the first time recently and absolutely loved it. I had a delicious mexican pizza that was only $7 and very filling. There was a great DJ and relaxed vibe. The bar staff were super friendly too. My friend is always raving about how it's a great place to hang out during the day. Apparently they have really good food, $2.50 coffee for students and free wifi. #newfavouritehangout

Went to this when I was in melbourne. Asked a friend to pick a cool small bar - this wasn't a small bar much; quite big; really grungey with a good feel. The crowd was mixed and had some odd characters like the guy who was running around with a shell of a stuff toy aroud his head. Workshop Bar is a perfect place for an evening or weekend drink - there are plenty of hidey holes you can hang out with your friends but the "outdoor" seating is the best - Great loud music and nice and quiet on an afternoon do you don't have to wait for your bevvy!

Nic ambient atmosphere. Music here is a unexpectedly groovy, then you get your Dubstep/hiphop take overs which are awesome also. Have a decent tequila variety and cocktails are on point

Place is good for drinks and nibbles...but if you are looking for having a conversation...that ain't possible...they have a live DJ and is full of loud music...gets difficult to have a conversation. Easy to get by, bar is well stocked and fun to be at.

(Translated) There is a subdued atmosphere that gives the impression of being somewhere else, when you go out to smoke on the "terrace" (rather veranda but open air) you find yourself surrounded by plants, small tables and stools, the view of Melbourne little more. So nice ! Beers are not cheap (can be found cheaper elsewhere) but there is a very good choice of alcohol. The music is good, maybe not for dancing, but I haven't been there often enough to make sure. (Original) Il y a une atmosphère tamisée qui donne l'impression d'être ailleurs, quand on sort fumer sur la "terrasse" (plutôt véranda mais à ciel ouvert) on se retrouve entouré de plantes, de petites tables et tabourets, la vue sur Melbourne en p'tit plus. Trop sympa ! Les bières sont pas donné (peut trouver moins cher ailleurs) mais il y a un très bon choix d'alcool. La musique est bien, peut être pas pour danser, mais je n'y ai pas été assez souvent pour m'en assurer.
