N. T.I came here on a Sunday, it wasn't too busy but the Life music made for a very nice ambience. The owner is a really cool guy, the white stuff is nice and helpful, I'm from America and they even made me a Long Island Iced Tea. This is a pretty big place what an Italian restaurant that's open on the weekends. Kids are welcome and there's even a kids area. all in all it was a wonderful experience and I'll never forget it as it was my last day in Australia!
T. C.Mate, new management is the best thing that's ever happened to this place! Best burger I've ever had. Ever!!!! It was vegan too, so absolutely awesome to find a joint that has such a good vegan option available. Menu is a great, simple size and everything on it is delicious. Awesome service. Great vibe. Greeted as soon as we walked in. Old school music playing too, which completed the whole experience. 10/10. Seriously can't fault. Thanks for turning this pub around. Never change that vegan burger!!!!

L. D.It was a great night at the Happy Camel Comedy Club held at the Basso. The venue is very old and not very well maintained for a building constructed in the 1800's but a lovely old girl just the same. In 2 months they will be closing the doors of the Basso for 5 months to enable extensive repairs and upgrades. I look forward to the reopening. The food was ok considering the circumstances but the staff were friendly and a Happy crew and the prices were pretty good too.
G. R.The hotel appears to be very popular with a good crowd in on a Saturday night. Two bands were playing but to be fair they were mediocre at best. The hotel has plenty of potential but definitely needs a touchup with many obvious maintenance items outstanding. Quite disappointed that the outdoor area upstairs, clearly marked non-smoking is not properly managed by hotel management with numerous people smoking. I cannot comment on the meals as we did not have one that evening. All in all, we had a good evening with friends.
C. S.This pub has come a long way in the last 5 years. It's quite a nice place for a meal with the family or to go for live music on a Friday night. Good food and lots of beers on tap including locally brewed options. The decor hasn't changed much but the vibe sure has. Still a good option for a beer or two with your mates as well.

B. 2.Nice stage area with regular bands playing, old style hotel with many rooms, hallways and stairs. I was surprised at the size and layout although it made it better in my opinion. Would definitely recommend it for live bands, great staff especially the barmaid at the stage bar. She was lovely.
A. S.The Basso is a casual and friendly place. It has a good selection of beer on tap. Good pub food. The music bar is great, playing a good selection of original local artists and bands each Friday night. The person running the mixing desk is very good, so the sound is great!
A. S.Bassendean Hotel is one the greatest PUB in the area. It has a very sitting capacity, you won't have to wait to get a table. The ambiance is awesome and the price is pretty decent, they have a great variety of food and drinks. A perfect to hangout with your group and to enjoy couple of drinks. It also has a terrace that allows to enjoy fresh air outside.
i. c.This a nicely presented old school architecture style pub but nicely kept with new appointments. Upstairs was a nice place to eat. Cosy and comfortable. Downstairs was a great bar with outside sitting. I will definitely look forward to going back.
L. G.Watched some bands play live here in the backroom and also had some good and drink beforehand. The sound engineer was very good and got a great level for the bands and a good mix for the audience. The acoustics if this place are not great however. A small room with a lot of reflective surfaces means that the level was very high with frequent sharp edges that were quite painful. I recommend some ear plugs if you value your ears. The bands were great though and the crowd was having a good time. Good value for ten bucks. The food was better than expected and enjoyable if you are looking for dinner. The dining area is cosy and has a nice tv to watch the footy or whatever is on. The bar staff were very friendly as were the patrons.
S. D.Pretty much on point as for what you want in a pub. Happy hour is great value for craft beers and lamb shanks night doesn't disappoint. Staff did nothing wrong just wouldn't be right to give it five because they didn't seem to push a lively energy out that's really no problem everyone has their days I'm sure but it's an important job to be bar staff they are better than mates Shrinks or doctors you feel me. I'll pop back in later see if we can't make this a five out of five!
S. J.Old Perth road is a classic, As is the Basso hotel. Simplistic menu, good prices all round. Outside dining for summer, big fire for winter. A family favourite, I heard mention of new ownership taking place, we shall see.

R. I.4 of us turned up without a booking, we were given a table straight away. The Italian menu was terrific, the waitress was very helpful with selecting our choice of wine with 2 tastings. And the food was generous and flavoursome, our waitress was delightful.

Burgers were juicy, filling, and delicious.
The Caesar salad was huge and tasty, and the other options were thoroughly enjoyed by others, including the parmy and steak sandwich.
Reasonable pricing.
Monday night, and was dead quiet in there, which is a bit of a shame.
Staff were friendly and accommodating.
Overall, worth a visit... Especially for $17 burgers on a Monday night.

J. S.Honest pub grub with a great selection of tap beers/ciders (lots of local produce). Friday live music is a must and only $10. Outdoor seating available. Good for groups or couples.
F. L.Arranged my wife's 70th surprise birthday party upstairs. Booking and ordering the food really easy. On the night the staff were great,friendly and helpful. The food was fantastic, great taste and plenty of it. The whole night went off really well everyone enjoyed themselves.

Not that long ago i was happy to take my grandkids to the basso for a meal, mainly due to the efforts of a previous manager Sean who ensured a safe enviroment for patrons as well as his staff.
After personally seeing the increasing amount of aggressive and abusive behavior over the last month that staff and patrons are being subjected to and also seeing young 60kg barstaff being forced to double as security due to a total failure by the current owner to provide any, particularly fri and sat nites i suggest to any family men to reconsider dinner plans there until the owner provides a safe enviroment for his patrons and staff.
Lunch is still ok and Nick Emily and the rest of the team do a great job but in my opinion it is not a place to take children after dark.
Five days after making the above post and the hotel being broken into management and or the owner put security on fri amd sat nite. It may not stop or prevent antisocial behavior but the patrons and staff deserve the attempt.

M. C.The Basso has a great selection of craft beer. The food service is quick and the quality is better than most similar pubs. But they really need to give the place a lift internally as it is very dated.
r. m.Really good find. As beer enthusiasts/tourists we were looking for a Nail Brewing taproom, but they don't have one so we were directed here. They had 5 Nail beers on tap and a really good selection of other Western Australia and Aussie beers. Proprietor chatted with us for a while about the local beer scene and his recent refurbishment of the old Hotel into this great pub. Really enjoyed the lamb skewers as well.
T. B.The coffee's are $5 and well not that nice . The first 2 were cold and the second 2 just like warm milk . There is a small kids area with a few toys. The chips were $9 for a small bowl .. Maybe be better to visit in the evening but for coffees with a mothers group it wasn't the best .
