3.5 stars would be more fitting. Classic pub food offered with some fancier options available (gnocchi, tempura shark bay whiting, smoked lamb shoulder etc). The outdoor area with plenty of shade. Very satisfied with my burger and my friend was very happy with her pizza. I’d definitely return to try some other menu options!

Great atmosphere in the bar as we passed through, great atmosphere in the dining area - not overly child friendly, but great for a casual date night. The service was so friendly and fun! The cocktail I ordered was very small for the price. Unfortunately our meals were a bit bland (chicken burger) and dry (beef cheeks) however the atmosphere and service leaves me willing to try them again.

Passed by this late afternoon. Very impressed with the interior fine dining design and the beautiful outdoor seating areas. Lots of draft beers to choose from. So enjoyable to relax here. Grabbed a mini of Fremantle famous brewed beer, and a voice in the head kept calling me 'Are you ok? Roger! Roger!'. Haha, surely OK. It's a wonderful eating house too for friends, family and visitors. Clean, neat, class and spacious. The outdoor huge TV screen is always awaiting the sports lovers to cheers! Voila!

Always love the ambience here, clean, spacious and good customer service. Ordered the a Dirty burger, lamb shoulder, kids fish and chips and kids cheeseburger. The best part of the dishes are the chips, very crunchy so is the fish! A little down with the dirty burger where the patty is over cooked and dry. Not so much surprise burst so taste is pretty average. A little more sauce may compliment. The lamb shoulder with cous cous is very tasty. Unfortunately the lamb itself is very dry, understood it’s slow cooked lamb shoulder but it should pull apart with lots of gravy to balance it. Over $30 for this dish is a little high in my opinion. But overall we’re still quite happy, customer service is always a priority and you’ve got that covered. :)

Large venue, great atmosphere, loud, and parking access is easy. The food was a range of surprises in generosity and flavour. Surf & Turf I ordered medium-rare, it was on the rarer side but very well grilled. The steak had a flame grill char flavour that I don’t usually enjoy but in this case it was the perfect strength and the flavour made it the hero of the dish. Garlic Prawns & creamy sauce were noticeable only for the lack of flavour, small portioning of prawns and absence of garlic. Chips were well seasoned, light and not crunchy had an excellent texture, intriguing flavour and the only thing on the plate that matched well with the steak. The salad was fresh and almost forgettable but they did very well with the flavour and amount of dressing. Entrees Garlic Bread looked on the smaller size but was great for texture, flavour, garlic strength and turned out to be a just the right amount. Cured Meat Plate was a good selection and was also surprisingly generous with meat portions. Drinks I had a pint of Lemon Lime & Bitters which was well done and I’d go for sparkling water instead of tap/still water next time. Service Service was excellent, we had a small miscommunication when ordering because of impending food envy. Thankfully the Staff were patient, lovely and quick. Atmosphere It was on the louder side, understandably, as The Gate had more customers than I expected. Was actually a very fun and relaxing vibe, there was a few cold drafts but it was crazy rain and wind tonight so it was understandable. Family I think families with younger teenagers and up could do this, any younger and I’d consider Overall The price was on the medium-higher side and the desserts looked amazing. Parking was easy and despite the volume it didn’t feel cramped or overly loud.

I always find the gate to be very average, i most recently had their chicken dish and the chicken was so dry and hard to eat. When ordering drinks at the bar staff on monday 7/12/20 continually made the drinks wrong. The only thing saving it was the exceptional table service

Good atmosphere and venue. Steak sandwich was a killer! The pizza, bottom was burnt and alot of oil but was still enjoyable. Price is reasonable for what you get and a good select of of drinks as well as tap.

Amazing customer service, our waitress( Georgia) made the whole experience so enjoyable. The cocktails are very nice. We got the bone marrow and bread which was so buttery and melted in your mouth 100% would recommend to anyone, we also got the chicken wings, they were super crunchy and the sauce they r served with are very unique. The only fault was the pizza which was a bit soggy and undercooked otherwise it was a great night, def want to go again.

Thank you for an excellent night as we celebrated my husband's 50th birthday. The venue was great and John the function manager was friendly, extremely helpful and very efficient. We had a lovely waitress who looked after our group of 24 so well all night. Our guests all commented on the delicious food and the quick service at the bar etc especially as it was a full house. I would not hesitate to recommend The Gate Bar and Bistro for your next function. BRAVO Everyone! Definitely 5 stars!

Great atmosphere from the bar to dining. Staffs are not only friendly but also helpful. We sometimes are clueless when it comes to ordering but they are ever ready to help and explain what we need to know & introduce whats special for the day. Food tastes great and prices are good too.

We booked into the Gate. Were sitting outside. Went numerous times to bar to get drinks and order meals and wore no masks as we thought that was ok outside and no staff member asked us to wear masks when approaching bar. Went to pay the bill and young man behind bar said you couldn't be at bar without mask. I went and got mask. Went to pay and suggested staff needed to be all on one page ad we had been to bar and order meals without masks ... He was obstinate and told me there was a mandate. I struggle to understand this when no other staff member cared. I paid as we ran a tab. My partner got to car and ask we f for his I'd and credit card as O b as ck we went. How did this male staff member take payment on a tab and not provide back security I think his service was bad and misinformed

The portion was really generous. We ordered steak, bbq ribs and baramundi. The steak was really hard to chew and dry (it was medium well cooked), the baramundi and the ribs was just okay. We will come back only for snack, drinks and hang out with friends but wouldn't come back for dinner.

Staff is excellent. The wedges were delicious. The nasi goreng was a bit average. Rice is crunch and soggy at one time and really needed seasoning.

Great serving portions. Value for money. Staff were prompt. Polite and friendly. The venue is noisy but that is to be expected as most bars now have large open space layouts. This is better than some as the bistro is off to one side. I do recommend asking for a back wall table though. I definitely would recommend this place and will definitely be returning.

Burger was a bit dry, no condiments for chips. Food is a little expensive compared to similar places.

Went in for a cheeky lunch with a friend and let them know I was on a time limit due to needing to return to work. They were great and we had service straight away. Salt and pepper squid and chicken satay with a shared side salad. Beautifully prepared, fresh and tasty. I have always had a good lunch here.

Pretty much got what we wanted here. Meal was great, and cheap,$15 for a good feed, middy, and a mystery bet, can't go wrong. Service was fast and efficient, but I'd say get in early, this place fills very fast.

My girlfriends friends and I met up for a lunch and some drinks, nice place for it is easy going, staff are friendly and security, not the greatest selection for drinks on tap though. I ordered a meal from the bar and told them to please put the chorizo on another plate, when the order came it was underneath the meal. I took it back and said “I should of emphasised that my partner was allergic”. They took it back and within 5 minutes the same meal came back with the chorizo now on a different plate they clearly just moved it from underneath! I talked to the manager and she said they cook the meat and vegetables in the same pot! We asked for a refund which they gave us without trouble but very poor on behave of the kitchen. Could’ve been a very bad night if we weren’t prudent.

Hi all, The Gate Bar and Bistro…WOW! So I was visiting the family in Perth, my family of 5 plus 3 others, 8 of us in total, went to dinner here. Best ever Chicken Wings I think I’ve ever paid for when I’ve been out & about around different places…cooked to perfection, with a crispy crunchy skin and several delicious sauces to dip the wing into…mmm…it truly was a delicious experience! All our entrees were delicious, but that was the absolute stand out for me. Now the Mains…again OMG, these people are good. They backed up the delicious entrees with equally superb main meals. Fish, Beef, Lamb, Seafood and Pork Ribs, all very very very good… This is now 1 of my “Go to Places” for a small to medium party of people in the future! Settling all this with a couple of bottles of wine and several drinks for less than $350.00, I was really impressed on the value for money and the excellent quality @ “The Gate” Thanks “The GATE”, much appreciated your hospitality & service, see you again really soon!

Very crowded, food was very average, pasta was undercooked and stodgy. The first outdoor table we sat at had a dodgy table, the second one with the outdoor couched area had no brakes on the couch which made it very hard to sit in one place without rolling away! And not from too much food haha

Six of us went here for lunch on Saturday on way to watch the Western Force play a trial game. There were three adults and three kids. We ordered four mains, a fish and chips, burger, pork ribs and a pizza for us all to share. The pork ribs were amazing best I've had for ages. Pizza and fish and chips also really good and a great portion. I didn't get a look in on the burger but the kids enjoyed getting stuck into it. Great value and good sized portions. Nice venue.

Had a great lunch today at The Gate. My friend and I had the Chef’s Sharing Plate for 2 people which was delicious and we couldn’t finish. We took our time and felt looked after but not like we were hovered over all the time. The staff were friendly and the people in the restaurant were spaced out so it was not noisy and we could have a chat without anyone overhearing. A great spot for lunch on a hot day like today!

I booked for a party of 10 for my daughter's 18th birthday for dinner last night and was very impressed. As requested, we were sat in a 'quieter' part of the bistro. The service was good and all meals (except one) came out together. Just a little wait for the last meal but, according to my 98 year old grandmother, it was worth the wait. All meals were lovely and the Entertainment vouchers we used (three) were accepted without incident. Overall, a fantastic night. Thank you.

We came for my wife’s birthday and was booked as such. We waited almost 20minutes before I asked if we could order. The food came out very quickly and most meals were good. My son had an allergy reaction which we mentioned to the server but no comment was made! One of the male staff seemed more interested in the female staff than the customers. It was a shame that as a Club Member and the fact that it was booked as a birthday not one member of staff could acknowledge that!

Always have a Good experience here, theres an area to suit anyone. Plenty of room to move around and organising for gatherings and birthdays is stress free. Food portions are always appropriate if your used to being served small meals at other pubs and get an appetizer and a main, you will not finish it all! So my advice is dont order with eyes bigger than your belly haha.

This place was pretty average. Overall the service was good when it came to food although it took quite a while for the orders themselves to be taken and drinks took a long time to come out. The food was nice. I had the Steak and Ale pie although I wouldn't call it a pie it was more a stew with pastry disc placed on top. The stew part its self was enjoyable and would order it again if I returned. The rest of my table enjoyed there meals, they did note the Parmigana had to much sauce on it for them. I don't know if I would return, however we did overall enjoy the night out and the staff was lovely.

It's been a while since we went here for anything other than lunch, but after going last night for dinner it won't be long until we're back. The service was excellent - our waitress could not have been more friendly and attentive and made some great recommendations on our wine and mains. I had the pork belly which was incredible, and seemed to be the stand out dish at our table - so much so, my partner kept digging in to mine. The other dishes were also very good. While this will still be our safe bet for a good pub-grub lunch, we're looking forward to going back for dinner.

Beautiful meal on Friday 6/7/18 for 6 persons. Oysters, fish, and steak were perfect. Venue inside not noisy, and everyone could be heard at the table, Excellent and courteous service. Only one minor downside . . . Garlic bread was microwaved. Not crisp when best served from an oven. Apart from that minor problem - which can be fixed, will come again.

A pleasant experience here although if you try to get in Thursday, Friday or Saturday evening, make sure you get in early, this place can get packed or If your looking for a nice quiet evening with the partner then I would suggest earlier in the week. The staff here are very friendly and helpful and the only issue, and I will emphasise “on the occasion” ask ‘how is your meal’ a bit too much, in saying that, it’s nice to have someone available if extra drinks are required and they don’t seem to mind a bit of a laugh and joke as they serve a busy workload. The food has always been reasonably priced and enjoyable with a menu that seems good for all. Definitely worth a visit😁

Came by to this place for the first time on a Wednesday night for dinner with my girlfriend. Came in and was greeted with friendly staff. Overall service was good. Atmosphere was a little confusing to me and my girlfriend because it seemed like the venue décor was a mix of fine dining and bar bistro style. I did notice a large projector screen in the outdoors showing footie games which I thought was a pretty cool place to watch footie with other footie fans. Foodwise, price is standard for bar food around $30-50 for steak dishes. I ordered the surf and turf while my girlfriend ordered the Oktoberfest special ham hock. It didn't take too long for the food to arrive. In terms of portion the rump steak that comes with the surf and turf was reasonable but the seafood portion was disappointing as there were only a couple of mussels and 2 prawns. In terms of taste, everything was seasoned well and cooked well. Steak was tender and cooked to medium rare, prawn was cooked just right. Only complain was mussels were over done and there wasn't much garlic sauce. The ham hock was reasonably large and flavor was good. Skin however was too thick and tough. Overall rating 3/5

We were served by Bolash the supervisor and Dani the waitress on a Friday evening. Both of them were very attentive and friendly. Bolash came to check if our steaks were cooked to our likings, we commented it was just a little bit over on some part of the meat and he offered to replace them, but we declined as it wasn't a big issue. We were just happy that he cares about the standard of their food and offered to replace them. At the end our meal, Bolash had a small chat with us which was nice. That's the kind of service we are looking for and we will be happy to return to this restaurant again in the near future.

Meal options are minimal, quality of food was average, customer service could be improved, small wonder why the other pubs in this area, are packed on a Sunday, whilst this bar and bistro remains half empty. -chips were cold -steak was inconsistent Waiter firstly asked us if we wanted drinks, so we ordered a round, then when ordering the food, we we're told that the kids meal came with a drink, instead of ordering a second drink for our child, after spending over $150 in this sitting, we asked if we could get the drink we ordered initially, included in our kids meal instead of them bringing out a new one and was flatly denied. Even though we were going to forgo, the cold chips and inconsistent cooking of the steak, the mangers refusal to budge a small $4 drink, left a bad taste in our mouths.

Even though present, not really reflecting what one would expect from chilli (heat, hot). In the heat scale I would say 3/10. Maybe offering additional heat on the side? Yes its a difficult thing to manage, but I did request "extra heat from the chilli, please". Will recommend the dishes.

We celebrated my sister-in-laws birthday a couple of weeks ago and to my horror, I had found the worst and definitely inedible Guinness Pie. The chunks of dried beef were served like it was a curry, no flavour and the pastry were these 3 pieces of plastic pastries cut out in circles. Please don't order it if you eat there. I took a bite and just could not eat further. My wife couldn't stand for it and called the waiter over and told him what had happened. Here is where you guys deserved the 4 stars - he offered to replace it no questions asked and suggested I picked something else. Look guys, that was a really standout response and you should be proud. Now please go work on your pie and do it right, you would expect a pub to know how to make a decent one! Wished I had taken a picture.

Take cash with you, No EFTPOS over the bar, there is money machine onsite, cost a small mortgage to take out money, meals here never disappoint, portion is generous, interior and enclosed beer gardens make for a very cosy atmosphere that over comes the view of the bleak concrete buildings and busy road.

I think the managers/owners need to learn about cutomer service. A cash bar these days is crazy, the only way to pay with a card is to start a tab and they hold your credit card which is no good when you use your phone. No split billing is a pain too, this day in age it is easy to split bills and it's lazy not to. Surprisingly good atmosphere, beer selection is good but no pay pass which is a joke. Food is solid bar grub. Would recommend for a Sunday sessions
