What a gorgeous old hotel. There was nothing better than sitting upstairs on the old verandah, sipping a cold drink on a hot summer's day, and watching the world go by. We decided to stay for lunch and were so glad we did as the food was delicious and the octopus was outstanding (best I've eaten). This was topped off by excellent service and friendly staff. Definitely a winner and we'll be back.

Popped in for a drink before a movie in Raine Square. Lovely staff who knew their "stuff". Wines we had were very good and not the usual big names. Didn't eat anything but can't wait to get back to try the menu.

Amazing..... great atmosphere. Service was fantastic, we were looked after by jasmine, who helped us choose a dairy free meal, she was spot on and the meal was delicious. A new favourite hang out.

We had lunch at their private dining room and the food was good and service was very attentive, so I'd recommend for a special group lunch/dinner party. The Octopus was delicious but could've been even better with some fresh lemon to cut through the intense glaze. The beef cooked perfect medium rare but I'd prefer to have the creamy sauce to the side instead.

Well it's taken a while but I was well enough funded to have a meal here. Worth the wait? Overall yes, I'd have to say so. I had the Royal Burger instead of Fish & Chips. Big surprise....no real Salad component to the Burger. No Tomatoes or Lettuce, no Mayo. Whatever sauce they used was indistinguishable from the meat pattie. Which at least was tender, well cooked and flavoursome. It did take three bites to find the pickle. Not something I usually enjoy, but it was okay. The Chips? Hmmm.....well cooked, a decent enough portion. And quite tasty thanks to the Paprika coating they had. No dipping sauce was offered, which was a surprise. So....was it worth $23? Good question. But I'm in my 50s now, so I remember when a good Counter meal in a pub was two bucks!🤣 Oh and to the Management, give your staff a step ladder so they don't have to climb up the fridge cabinet, just to reach the Top Shelf Whisky!

Very busy night last night. The staff were working hard. Spoke with 1 and they were short staffed due to absence. They were really going for it but the food was sub par. Not terrible but not great. Nice place and would try again on my next trip to see if it was just a bad night.

Went in for Friday pub lunch. The staff we were really lovely and on top of everything but not over the top. Thanks guys 🙌 Acoustics are great so even though the pub was full it wasn’t crazy loud with echoing voices. The fire dust on the chips is addictive and in the burger they fry the cheese so it’s a crispy wafer of crunchy crunchy yumyum.

Going out for the day we dropped into the royal for one drink . Well we ended up staying for lunch :) . After a little walk around the Royal looking at the paintings we ended up sitting down upstairs on the Verandah. Great sitting area watching the world go by while having a nice cocktail. We ended up with the surf and turf which is cooked median. My wife had a seafood pie which tasted amazing, this was on the special list. Desert was cookies and cream salted caramel with bread and butter budding . Well this did fill us up . Great way to start the day.

What a venue! On of the best ways to spend a day out on the balcony. Nice range of beers (standards and craft) along with some delicious cocktails and wines. The food is always delicious and well presented and the staff are amazing! You won't ever have an empty drink here. If you like your old architecture, you will appreciate how the Royal has kept the original style and feel of this amazing building.

The art in here is incredible. The whole place reeks of history in a good way. There is a great balcony spot with a tremendous view and the furniture, decor, etc. all fits together superbly! The only downside I found was the food I bought; a King Prawn dish worth ~$25 consisting of 3 prawns. I guess I was paying for the location, but 5 stars had I been really impressed by the food! Still great for a drink or ten.

Nice pub with great view upstairs. Just a shame they have no vegan dishes at all. Even the chips are coated in egg batter. Such a shame and would be good if they could rectify this, as if I can't buy snacks here, then I'll drink elsewhere.

Great bar, good drinks and friendly staff. Food is a little pricey for what you get, but still fine. Sound system is pretty ordinary for modern bar standards but is also fine. Despite those two minor downfalls I'll still be back.

The king prawn with glass noodle is $26 and its a main. The portion is so small and the prawns are just the normal ones. Also, I had another prawn dish was too small and so expensive. I had to go to a sushi shop and have some sidhi to get full.

Sat outside with a view overlooking Yagan Square. Great attentive service/staff. The special (pork ragu pasta) was really nice. The fish was dry and overcooked. Place allows booking for large parties. No set menu required. Split billing allowed.

We started a family get together here and it was great atmosphere. The beers are a great price with a lot of variety. We didn’t have food, but looking through the menu, the variety and prices also great. The outdoor balcony area was perfect, but our highlight was a server named Rhi. She was a professional, efficient, warm person, who we noticed made sure every tables needs, as well as our own were met, which made our visit here a positive experience. We definitely recommend, but be early, because this place fills up fast. We will definitely be back.

The bar itself is nice, with an old world feel, no doubt embracing it's heritage. Beers are good, especially love that they have colonial on tap. Location is great in the centre of city. The only drawback here are the staff. Every time I come in here the staff are inattentive, sometimes to the point of being rude. They are usually more interested in chatting amongst themselves than serving paying customers. A shame, because otherwise a good place.

The building is the first thing I noticed the architecture and historical feature looked magnificent to me. Vast spaces that I could see with plenty of seating for friends if catching up for happy hour, pre dinner drinks or even pre drinks before hitting the city. Service with a smile and after ordering was quick with serving our meals. Different age range from young to mature including a family with child having dinner. we went for dinner on a Saturday night and that was busy. The other good thing is that it is close to train station so no need to drive.

We had a really lovely company Xmas party here a couple of weeks ago and really can't rate the food, service and ambiance highly enough. We were in The Saloon which is a really great space and we were so beautifully looked after by the gorgeous Tory (hope I spelled that right) and our bar guy (whose name I forget because I'm a total nanna at times). If you're looking for a venue for an event then I really recommend The Royal and maybe make a special request for Tory to look after you. You won't regret it.

I have been looking forward to finally be able to visit The Royal but have to say I was kind of disappointed. Interior is spot on however it was missing a vibe. I couldn't hear any music, if it was on then turn it up. The menu could really use more light small share plates, that would encourage more food sales. Arrived for The Royal's Thursday night special which included whole shoulder of lamb with sides and a bottle of house wine. Received a warm welcome on arrival and very prompt service. The meal was very nice and comfortably fed 3 of us. Good value for money and will definitely return.

The food and service was amazing. Highly recommend the Royal Feast. Cheap but filling and very very tasty, feeds 4 people easily. I asked for a pina colada and although they don't actually serve the drink there, the bartender said they would make me one anyways. And it was one of the best Pina Coladas I've ever had!

No European lagers, very craft beer orientated, would visit more often if they had bottles of peroni or heineken instead of having to drink swan draught. There was also no sweet wine on the menu. Barmen was a bit rude but the floor staff were lovely.

Absolutely Awesome Revamp of the Royal Hotel.Classic, Classy, good for a look and easy to meet people for a chat about the ever changing view! Before was a tired backpackers hangout, now it is suited to a "cross the board clientele"....for the young, old & wannabe young. Quickly become a Tourist favorite to experience a 'good ole authentic Aussie Pub atmosphere and Aussie feed'. The BALCONY is now THE BEST ... 1) people watching location in Perth (all foot traffic between Northbridge and City), 2) cool car cruising spot (Wellington St and Horseshoe), 3) awesome candid photo opportunities. 4) Great for beer & post movie review. 5) And checkout the "so cool" Art and the 6) fabulous ole 1900s classic Aussie bars/woodwork and furniture !! No, I don't work there, I just appreciate the effort put into the rework of a classic Pub.

We just had our Christmas function at the Royal in the private dining room. Amazing! I was a little skeptical since they had just opened but the food, service, atmosphere and the renovations were all awesome! Beautifully renovated pub with a number of different bar areas - the upstairs outdoor area is perfect for good weather. Whilst the downstairs allows for some people watching whilst escaping from the weather. The bar food menu is simple but tasty. The drinks and glasses are nice but I was quite disappointed with a premixed cocktail I was served. I returned here a few weeks later, and was no more impressed by the cocktail menu :(. For other drinks the bar is good.

The Royal is a lovely old building turned i to a bar. It has multiple levels with a balcony on the second level. We were there on a quiet night, and the staff were all friendly. Drinks were reasonably priced and there's a decent selection.

I love the effort that's been taken to restore this amazing venue. The reason I've given it four stars is because it's deceptively small. Given that it's a new place in Perth, it's popular so you often can't get in. Drinks are priced as expected, the food menu is still under development (but amazing); I look forward to continuing to come to this place as it matures.

Food was exceptional, staff were wonderful, the bar even has options of Australian whisky! This place also had some stunning artworks on display, I walked passed a portrait painting of a kangaroo in a sweater, I was amazed!

We dined at the new Fleur Restaurant on the weekend and experienced great service, great food and a great time. Highlights were the prawns for entrée and the octopus for mains which was very tender and tasty. Staff were helpful and very knowledgeable and the renovations have been beautifully done.

(Original review written when it was a hotel). Update as its now a pub. Very nice layout, love the use of the old rooms to make comfy areas to relax in. The outside balcony is great to people watch over the city and you can smoke out there. Good selection of drinks and they do speciality nights I am yet to get tickets for but will update again once I do.

Instant favourite! Everything about the place is brilliant from the balcony overlooking Yagan Square to the accommodating and awesome staff to the artwork spread over the two levels. A 60 second walk to the train and bus stations make it super accessible and it just feels alive with the hum of the city and Northbridge either side of it. Can't recommend enough - guaranteed good times.
