Great spot for a group function upstairs. Staff very friendly . Not much of a view from the rooftop but very open and spacious. Middle floor has great food and plenty of tables. Reasonably priced. Lift available to reach upper floors.

3.4 - Great area (rooftop) for groups of people to be seated or mingle but the food was very average. I had a Prawn Linguine but the sauce was chilli oil, drowned like in the photo. Not at all a light flavoursome dish but perhaps this is not the establishment for that. Music got louder and louder to the point where the person squished next to me couldn't hear me and the 2 facing me had to strain when I was shouting! On the plus side, it was suitable for large groups to meet, which is awesome for a crowded area like Surry Hills.

We held my 30th on their Rooftop area. It was a breeze to organise! We had a lovely space where it was close enough that we could experience the atmosphere but still tucked away. The food was beautiful and we heard many compliments from our guests, though it was quite pricey for the quantity. The minimum spend was reasonable and the event planner was flexible in how we reached this. All in all a wonderful night!

The service is always friendly! They have amazing Laksa, however the Laksa doesn’t have many toppings and lacking rice noodles! It’s a delicious creamy broth that I love,, but it doesn’t keep me satisfied as it is not so filling. The Fried chicken burger was average, I just didn’t like the coleslaw! The cabbage was too bitter! The Johnny walker green apple cocktail was delicious 😊 Overall I like this hotel for a quick meal, chat or drink.

It can be hard to get a read on this place. From the outside it has a leagues club vibe, but the different levels inside offer a variety of atmospheres. At least it's big enough to be an uncrowded local spot for an easy beer and a chat. Just don't expect Surry chic or a crafty drinks selection, and you'll be welcomed with open arms.

My first visit to this establishment was a good 20 years ago. I've been on dates there, had reunions, enjoyed many lunches up stairs. Mostly, I appreciate their RSA standards, even when it has meant I have to leave as per their direction. I always suggest to friends that we meet up at the Aurora Hotel when in the city. The up stairs area is really nice and sorta cosy... with a really relaxed atmosphere. I kinda wish I was someone who served drinks there... coz... I love being served drinks there ;)

Great location with really nice and friendly staff. The drinks are good value and a decent range to choose from. There is also a good, range of poker machines too. The negative things to be considered is thay you cannot smoke within the hotel and ona Sunday they have a dance group that frequent the hotel each week where the music is played very loud. If you are wanting a quiet Sunday night, this is not the place to go. Staff will happily bring drinks to you and always willing to have a chat which makes up for the noiad of the music on Sundays. One of the few pubs open till late near Central. Planned well, with the TAB and sports bar on the ground level, the main bar and bistro on the first floor and the rooftop bar on the top floor. There is a daily happy hour from 5pm including tap beers, wine and some spirits. The food is pretty good, especially the waffle fries. The prices for drinks are standard for pubs, but top shelf spirits are quite expensive. Lookout for the special nights where those are 1/2 price.

Held a 21st function at the rooftop bar during July. Was an excellent set up, lovely atmosphere, clean and professional. The staff were helpful and easy going, no request was too much. Absolutely perfect night, would recommend this venue to anyone thinking about having a function!!!

The food at the pub is really yummy. Very dim lighting to make it a relaxed environment and open late. The crowd isn't big which is nice, but the smoking area is open to the pub itself which I personally don't like. The staff is friendly and helpful. I would go here again.

Top food food and beer , very short walk (5 min) from Central Station.Went yesterday Wednesday 13th June, 6:30 PM, had Battered Fish and chips with ½ salad, lemon, tartar sauce, mushy peas (wife & me) $16 my local charges $24 (no mushy peas) others are usually ever dearer. This bar, which I would say is based on the very outskirts of Surry Hills, is a 'no frills' bar and good for a Friday after work drink. Each floor feels like you're walking into a different place, it's bizarre. Ground level, feels quite rough and appears to open really early in the morning. The first floor is 'chrome and carpets' and is really busy on Thursday, Friday, Saturday probably due to their great drinks deals - $5 for certain wines and beers. They do nice food here too, just typical pub grub, but they do it well. The rooftop bar is actually really nice, has some undercover areas and has the same drinks deals as the bar below. You can book this out completely for parties or just certain sections. Not a bad bar, just don't expect an array of amazing wines or fancy surroundings.

What separate's The Auroa Hotel to other pubs in the ares with similar designs is that it has a large balcony on the 2nd floor,that becomes pretty a chilled place for a summer afternoon drink.... Edit. Can bring back some of the seats in the front bar, it was nice to have a quiet place to sit down

This pub unfortunately is one of those not much atmosphere kind of pubs. It's over a few floors and feels like a mini RSL club. However as it is not a boutique pub you know what beer will be on tap. The food is OK - typical pub food, however presentation might be a little lacking as it is a bistro style service. The pub could do with a bit of a touch up. However because of this you know you're not going to pay an arm and a leg for food or drinks like you would with so many other boutique pubs around the area, it makes it a decent watering hole.

Came here for a work Christmas do. Most of the staff were really great and friendly, but some you could tell really didn't want to be there (I guess large groups can be a bit much). The Aurora is one the best places in Surry Hills for lunch or dinner. The food is always excellent and the bistro and bar staff are always friendly. For some reason they only sell pints in the ground floor sportsbar but the selection of liquor and beer is nothing to complain about. The top floor outdoor eating area doesn't have the best view but it is one of the only places in Sydney with a roof area to dine/drink in. The balcony on the 2nd floor is also a great place to eat. Highly recommended.

Reservations are a must at this time of year. Had our team of 22 Christmas lunch upstairs in the private corner. There is access to an outdoor smokers balcony area . The space was great as we could make speeches and give presentations on the screen without disturbing other patrons. We pre-ordered and paid for meals which arrived without a hitch. My Salmon was perfect, crispy skin and not dry. Meals around me received good reviews too. The one downside was that patrons had to go down stairs to get drinks, water was not a standard on the table. We stayed a few hours and had a great time.
