R. X.Great air con inside, especially in the hot weather. Prompt service if you're ordering a drink. Great, terrific food when they come as it does get rather busy. But you need to be very patient. Waited 40mins for the food, was told to wait another 10 or so minutes.

Few venues stand the test of time in #sydney and Bristol Arms Hotel – formerly known as “The Retro” is one of those venues.
The venue has three different eating spaces.
#1 The Rooftop Bar
#2 The Public Bar
#3 The Bristol Kitchen
The Rooftop Bar with views toward Barangaroo is a large, open bright space perfect for functions, private events, a good after-work stiff drink and weekend fun.
On this mid-week night, I dined on the rooftop with fellow Sydney foodies @jimmywongeats @justin_time2eat and @everycrumb for a #boysnightout.
We dined in the inside section of the rooftop close to the bar on one of the high tables. The venue manager and bartender were super nice. They helped us navigate our way through the bistro menu and cocktail selection.

C.The place is consist of 5 levels - underground , retro 1 and 2 (level 1 and 2 pretty much) being nightclub (apparently retro 1 is used as dance teaching area during weekdays), ground level (where you enter) has bar and TAB facility and finally rooftop lounge with smoking terrace. Rooftop is quite amazing as other people have mentioned. Beer selections at the bar tap is exceptional (Big Shed Golden Stout time - literally tastes like golden gaytime. So much happiness!). Fod has came out relatively quick compared to other reviews and it did come out quite nice! (Consider i paid $14. Oh by the way from Monday to Wednesday there is $14 menu and steak is OK inclucded). Happy hour goes from 5:30pm to 7:30pm Monday to Thursday. In conclusion i would say this place is mad place to pay a visit on weekdays if you ever get a day off.

N. G.I hosted my 21st at the rooftop room, and was more than pleased with the experience. The venue itself is really nice, and has great views. The food was excellent, and the staff were extremely friendly and flexible. We could rearrange furniture on the day to our liking and the venue stayed open until everyone left. I had my doubts at first about the sound system not being loud enough as it is in built, but as the night progressed I was going deaf, it was amazing. Definitely for the boys

t. m.We popped in here for a quick late afternoon drink and wanted to give a special shout out to the dude on the ground floor behind the bar. We had no expectations of this place as we're not from Sydney - and found ourselves being given pointers from the guy about things to do - and instead of sitting on the ground level, he advised us to head upstairs to the rooftop - it was ace. Instead of a quick pit stop, we stayed for over an hour and ended up with three drinks under our belt. Sorry I didnt catch your name - but you had a beard and a deep voice! And were so lovely.
N. W.Food was great and reasonably priced. Was there for a team lunch and we were booked in for the rooftop. Great view, music was a little too loud so we had to talk over one another. The service was pleasant and serving speed was okay. Would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a casual place to hang out with friends/family/co-workers.
S. S.This is a really, really great little pub. It's simple, honest, the food is great, the beer selection is perfect! Bar tenders have been fun and polite, and can't ask for much more. Just a great place where you can relax, have a laugh, and some really good food and drinks. A+
A. R.Had a lovely dinner on Saturday evening with my boyfriend and family - food was great and the prices weren't bad. Only down side to the evening was the group of nasty girls at the next table focused on upsetting the bar attendant. Was hard to watch. Personally I've got to say, loved the service and the blonde, Aussie girl behind the bar did her a great job at making us feel very welcome. Would definitely recommend this venue :)

Me personally I'm there for the happy hour pints which are fantastic value for money and a good way to start a night whether you end up going to retro just a few flights of stairs away or wherever you go.
Food is standard pub fare, pretty decent but nothing outstanding.
I deducted a star mainly because of my lunch time experience there. I have to say things can get pretty chaotic. There multiple levels to service and the kitchen is downstairs. I was up top with a group of friends and it took about 50 minutes for the food to arrive. By that time we had to leave and go back to our desks as our lunch time was over. Food had jst arrived but frankly we weren't interested anymore and weren't willing to cram it into our faces just to make it back on time. So that's pretty disappointing. Also disappointing was the lack of care shown by the staff, they definitely didn't fight our request for refund but I'd say they were hardly apologetic for the whole episode. I'll grant that it could just be that day and things were out of their control but I'm just going off my own experiences.
Tldr; good to go for beers after 4pm to take advantage of happy hour but probabky avoid lunch time not cos food is bad but the wait is
A. K.Recent renovations are an amazing improvement - it's a brand new venue. Rooftop bar and cider is a perfect match in summer and mulled wine in the cooler months. The food was really good, I had a bristol burger - delicious. Highly recommend! But try and book a table if your planning on going on a Friday as it gets rather busy!

K. A.So I went there for lunch on Monday. Imagine my surprise when I looked at the menu and saw that from Monday-Wednesday they have $12.50 menu, with 5 different meals. So I went for the fish&chips and my friend tried the cheeseburger. Both of the meals were lovely. AND HUGE!!! I loved the staff, everyone were really friendly and nice :). I'm gonna go back there on Friday for sure - they have a Retro club!!!
Believe me, this is really a place you want to see with your own eyes!
P. E.My boyfriend and I are fellow hospo workers and loved the atmosphere here. The staff were so friendly and chatty. We're definitely going to book the rooftop out for a big birthday bash it's beautiful, the food was great too and the staff seriously just seemed like they'd do anything to make your night. Cabana wait to go back, we might become members just as they do a badge draw night too!
A. G.A decent pub to visit, but the main attraction is the retro style music on each of the floors. There is a cover charge after 9 pm, but if you enjoy dancing, it's worth it.
The downstairs level was a little short staffed at the bar, causing delays in service.
With our event booking, we did have an issue with the venue with security.

J. P.Sydney's best rooftop bar, hands down. Filled with corporates on a Friday night, it's more tucked away and less pretentious than places like Ryan's Bar or The Establishment. There's a large rooftop patio area and good outdoor heaters to warm a chilly Sydney night. Tables are usually available, and you can go down to The Retro Hotel for some good music and dancing if you're feeling jazzy.

N. W.Was pleasantly surprised by lunch at the Bristol Kitchen. They do a $12 lunch menu with 5 or 6 choices. I had the steak which is sometimes risky on a $12 deal but it was really nice. I'd definitely go back.
C. P.My first visit back to the Bristol Arms/Retro Hotel in over a year for lunch today and I am very impressed. The place is transformed by the recent renovations, the staff are friendly and efficient, and the food is of a higher quality than most pub fare I've tasted. I may have found my new fave spot for lunch! I highly recommend the Vegetarian Fusilli, absolutely delicious.
