Comments of Manly Beach
e. L.
Relaxing day at Manly, cycling along the beach, leisure walk, sun bathing, swimming, surfing or even just sitting down people watching! The beach is just a short walk from the ferry Terminal with plenty of shops and restaurants along the way. There are 8 netball courts on the beach, great facilities for netball fans.
V. J.
The beach is amazing and it is an icon of Manly. The long beach allows everyone to enjoy it for any kind of activity (surf, swim, run, walk, fish, beach volley, cycling …).
The swimming area is open and patrolled all the year. Waves are amazing and the view is stunning.

Love Manly beach, it's where I plan to live permanently one day. Took friends to Shelly beach, and they loved it. You can't go past the Steyne pub, great place for a beer with friends, people watching, and the staff are awesome, very friendly, accommodating, and show genuine interest in patrons. Such a great place to sight see, and so much history.
T. P.
I Love Manly especially at night when the crowds have died down and you hear the waves hitting the sand. This is truly a Zen place to be at.
During the day it's chaotic and hectic and people are usually everywhere but it adds a certain hipster and happening vibe to Manly Beach.
All in all it is a must with a rockpool at one end and public toilets available also.
j. t.
I love Manly! Reasonably consistent and pretty good waves. Food options in the vicinity are not bad! Heritage rich area (for example, Cpn Arthur Phillip got speared on the beach after a misunderstanding arose with the indigenous people there, but he ordered his men not to retaliate).
K. J.
Cleanest sand ever can someone identify that horned fish for me
M. W.
Manly beach is beautiful and there are cafes and restaurants. It’s always great to grab a cup of coffee and enjoy the day in Manly beach.
S. S.
Manly beach is only a 30 minutes boat 🚣♀️ ride from Circular quay or 20 minutes if you get the express boat ride. Manly is one of the most beautiful beaches in the city of Sydney. There are many places to eat and relax. many great cafes, restaurants and bars around Manly beach that you can chill and/or have a drink or a meal.
N. D.
Beautiful chill beach to surf and play volleyball. You can easily sit down alone and relax. Several snacks and restaurants nearby and on the way to the ferry.
K. F.
Stunning walk with fabulous views
This is Shelleys beach
W. S.
My favourite beach to relax or having a drink or to dine lot of ethnic dishes as well I always enjoy the "fish & chips" meal specially at the styne hotel over a glass of beer.
a. h.
Personal I had fallen in love with the Beach ⛱️ unfortunately it's when this massive alarm was announcing Shake has sited Beach ⛱️ closed hahahaha 🤣😂🤣 but still me and my family we enjoyed Grace food.
Back there soon.
Á. L.
Nice and world-renowned beach. Visited at night to observe bioluminescent algae in the ocean.
During the day it gets as crowded as any of Sydney's beaches so it's best to get in early to find a parking spot, if you are driving there.
E. L.
Quite crowded especially summer weekends. Small area for swimming (between flags) but great for surfing. Beach is wide & long good for catching rays. Some areas dedicated to beach volleyball. Lots of cafes, restaurants, shops & pop up (weekend) markets close by.
M. d. P.
What a beautiful beach!! It is so clean it is a bit busy but it is big enough to not really have an impact on your day. There are so so many restaurants and cafes to choose from and lots off shops. There are enough bathrooms and they are also very clean with showers. There are enough lifeguards so you can choose where you want to swim. There is enough space on beach and it is amazing views. There is also few places to buy really great ice cream. The ferry from Sydney to Manly is also part of this experience!
T. H.
Beautiful summer day in Manly beach. From my hotel used the city tripper app to navigate the transportation phases to get here, train, ferry and walking. Directions were very easy and accurate depictions of modes, distances and departure times. The entire trip took just under an hour and the new sensor credit card transportation Payment system worked flawlessly. You simply scan any credit card with a sensor at the turnstiles and pass right through. No purchasing multiple tickets for different phases. Total cost was about $3.00 usd. Not sure if this works with Apple Pay on phone but they should be working on that too. Departed the slow ferry at the north terminal south of Manly beach and made the short walk through the shopping district as it suddenly opened onto the scenic beauty of the expansive sandy beach with enticing waves and tempting surf. Being just before noon we decided to try out the restaurants, bars and grills that lined the promenade overlooking the gorgeous beach walk. We selected a quaint outdoor grill that served the crispiest fish and chips plate I’ve had in ages along with a local favorite Coopers lager to wash it all down. Next we proceeded south along the walkway to the Cabbage Tree Bay Aquatic Reserve. This is the perfect area for diving and snorkeling or swimming to view a variety of marine species in their natural habitat. Next stopped at the Boat House restaurant on that end for more refreshments while admiring the tropical forest that surrounds the natural rock lined cove. While people watching out north across the bay all of the ongoing activities beckoned to us once again so we continued our journey back across the whole of the beach stopping to talk to the lifeguards along the way. They pointed out the best areas to go depending on your preference for swimming, surfing, snorkeling or diving and we promptly jumped in to the inviting waters until the sun sank low on the horizon. The lifeguards depart at 6PM so we decided to finish our daily outing reversing our course back to the hotel with a full day of happy memories to relive over dinner. I highly recommend this location for couples or family there is plenty to do and could easily fill a whole weekend. Being so close to Sydney can make this a never ending vacation and one you’ll talk about for years.
V. R.
Beautiful, neat and clean beach. Lot of place to park cars. (paid parking). Beautiful view. Excellent place for an evening stroll or jog. Designated place for beach volleyball, excellent place for surfing.
s.
Nice beach! You should definitely go here as a part of your trip to Sydney.
Reachable by ferry from a harbor near opera in Sydney. Then, you can enjoy the view on the opera building along the way. Then, just a short walk until the bridge.
A lot of options for fast food, especially fish and chips are nice.
There are free toilets in the end of the beach.
G. N.
Lots of options at the lovely beach town. Watch the surfers or enjoy the beach shores. The beach facilities are great here for families as well. You can easily find a nice cafe or restaurant across the street from the beach or venture a little bit into town.
J. R.
Manly is always beautiful at it is, the famous beach in northern sydney. The Best place to visit and you'll never be disappointed.
k. m.
Manly beach has plenty of spots to take the family for picnics and for dog walking. It gets very crowded on the weekends. The parking is very difficult and expensive. It is advisable to plan transportation ahead. Getting to Manly via ferry from Circular Quay is highly recommended. There are plenty of dining and accommodation options. It is very dog-friendly and plenty of staffies around! Dogs are not allowed on the main beach. At the end of the main beach, dogs are allowed off-leash 24 hours a day at the Manly Lagoon. There are plenty of water-based activities available with the opportunity to learn surfing. Manly is a great place to explore on the bike. Bike ride or a hike up to the Manly Quarantine Station and North Head Sanctuary is a must do. There are walking tours and self-guided tours available. However, it is quite challenging on a hot day as it is up hill but well worth it if you made it!! It offers spectacular views and plenty of photo ops. Food and coffee are quite good at Bella Vista Café with spectacular views. Plan to spend some time here. Sadly dogs are not allowed at North Head Sanctuary, Manly.
J. S.
Great vibrant beach with lots of nice cafes nearby. Great for a weekend outing.
J. Y.
How charming and exquisite beach∼
Maybe it's not the most beautiful, but it's the most intimate beach I've seen before.
Really like the walkway between Manly and Shelly beach. The picturesque scenery will catch your eye!
N. G.
Miss this beach a lot. Had short trip to Australia, went to Manly for few hours with my brother. So bad in winter time. But nice, so clean. Even on winter still lots of people in there. Definitely wanna go back again someday, but for sure not on winter 😋3
A. T.
Beautiful beach with an excellent boardwalk. Took my baby in a stroller and walked along the shore to the next beach. Not as busy as Bondi. If you take the ferry from Sydney Harbour, it's worth the trip alone so that you can see the CBD skyline, opera house and Sydney bridge. The ferry back is just as great! Also lots of shops nearby to grab food.
K. C.
Incredible beach. There are world class waves for surfing. The water is clean and blue. There are some areas for people who just want to swim. There is grass and trees behind the shore, including plenty of room to walk, run or bike. The coast is tattered with places to eat or drink. If you are staying in Sydney or just passing through this is a must stop beach.
D.
Absolutely amazing beach better beach than Bondi the most beautiful list beach in all of Australia highly recommend going here absolutely beautiful great surf great cafes great restaurants very friendly area plenty of parking absolutely stunning beautiful views
S. H.
Manly beach is a beautiful location to catch some sun, go surfing and have fun. There are plenty of bars and restaurants near by when you need to take a break. There are decent facilities with a fair few showers, toilets and drinking fountains.
The main downside is getting there, options are an expensive Uber/taxi, an excruciatingly long bus journey or trains to circular quay then a boat to manly. Would be great to have a metro service to Manly.
E. S.
Great public location with benches, tables and water fountains available near the beach. Some historical pictures and writings to read. Life guard boards noted along beach. Beautiful scenery and place to walk.
C. A.
Manly Beach at Sunrise is exceptional. I love watching the sunrise then go for a morning swim. Such a long beach that gets crazy crowded out the front of the Corso but if you go down past the Volley Ball courts is quiet. Lots of great restaurants and bars along the beachfront. #LetsGuide #manlybeach #surfing #sydney #sunriseviews
E. T.
Fun and exciting atmosphere. There's always something happening here like surf competition, volleyball, live bands and street performances.
Pet friendly, great beach for a surf, swim and relaxation.
W. J.
Clear and clean surf. Long beach with many breaks. Good handboard and body surfing at southern end. Softtop boards allowed in flagged area but tend to stay out tge back. Picturesque walk from north end of Manly beach to Shelley Beach. Must be around 2ks. Plenty of cafes and restaurants with good menus and resonable prices. We have had breakfasts and lunches at Kazzi's and highly recommend especially if you enjoy Greek. Plentybof space and grass for children and dogs.
R.
Manly Beach is my favourite beach, it is very clean and always a hive of activity.
C. B.
Best beach in Sydney. Get it on a perfect day and there's really nowhere better in the world.
S. S.
Beautiful beach. Nice long path that goes from North to South Steyne, then on to Shelly beach. Get some exercise and nurishments at the cafe.
m. j.
Amazing beach and atmosphere , great place to surf, ride a bike or walk along the long promenade. Get a bite to eat or just a coffee. Its a wonderful place to spend the day.
E. P.
Australia's second most famous beach! (Bondi is rated number one...) But don't miss this beautiful spot. Take the ferry from Sydney and enjoy!
G. S.
Excellent beach
Obviously well looked after
Beach volleyball and quality surfing to watch
Great sand
Excellent sea pool
Just a great experience in a tremendous area will definitely be back
A. C.
One of the most popular beaches in Sydney rivalling Bondi, gets some of the most pristine sunrise as well.
美.
Beautifull beach, just took a train to go the circular quay, after that chase a ferry to manly wharf, just walk almost 500m so, u can arrive the beach
W. O.
Good place to get away from the busy city, a stroll along the beach. The environment is more relax and good vibes. Will definitely come again soon
A. L.
A fantastic place to visit via ferry, bus or car. Great atmosphere. Plenty of places to eat and drink.
A. O.
Lovely swim beach lined with restaurants. Has the Corso with restaurants and take outs. Can rent a surfboard, bicycle. Volleyball nets on the beach. Can also snorkel around the bend at Shelly Beach.
T. M.
Must do by ferry, see good
J. G. (.
If you came all the way to this side of the planet this is a must stop. Fun all year round to walk, sun tan, relax or exercise. Lots of runners and people riding bicycles as well as walking pets. You can walk all the way to the end and climb the hills for an even better and impressive view.
S. K.
One of the top rated beaches. Apt for Surfing, paddling, beach volley ball. Kids play area and huge sandy area to walk. Heaps of options for bars, pubs, restaurants
M. O.
Nice beach, nice waves, nice stores, nice walking trail and nice restaurants. Well connected to the city by ferry. A bit crowded though. (Mostly tourists)
T. T.
I love walking up and down the beach to clear my head and refresh my soul. Manly is big and beautiful and full of happy people.
j. m.
Gently sloping golden sand down to clear sea netted swimming area
If you like a gentle swim this is great of you like big breakers do Manly Beach
i.
always a good spot for sand, surf and food. Parking however, that can be a challenge. Try not to be there when Nippers is on on a Sunday morning!
M. K. M.
Beautiful beaches, tons of yummy cafes and North Head is amazing.
C. L.
Gorgeous beach with ample spots to lay out a blanket and relax. Waves a bit rough for our toddler, but great for adults to surf. There are showers to rinse off on sidewalk and restrooms (toilets) in middle of beach - distant from on another but not difficult to reach.
N. D.
One of the best near Sydney....
If you want to avoid the crowd at Bondi, Manly is recommended...
Surfing classes are available here and changing rooms as well...
Shopping and eating joints available nearby.
Need to take a ferry from circular quay, which takes around 30-45 mins to Manly and then the main beach is just a walk away.
K. S.
Manly Beach is a must-visit for all persons travelling to Sydney's Northern Beaches, located North of the City and easily reached from the CBD by ferry across Sydney Harbour.
Manly Beach has an unrivaled, relaxed holiday vibe, despite the busy mixture of businesses scattered throughout the more central blocks of its main streets.
Known for its sandy, tree-fringed shores, residents and visitors alike will agree that Manly Beach is arguably one of the best of the many famous surf spots in the local area of the Northern Beaches. With the abundance of beaches and shores, pools and swimming areas in both the harbour and in the ocean water of Manly really do make for the relaced vibe the area brings to the table.
While the broad coastal views of oceanfront fill the gaze of eyes from Shelly Beach, facing North, headlands fade off in the distance. These are of course the other spectacular beaches of the Northern Beaches peninsula.
Whilst the Beach of Manly hugs the coastline and Manly Wharf sits nestled in its arms on the restored locally historic promenade, opposite the once sand-bar that is now Manly, in between the connecting thoroughfare, is a pedestrian hub called The Corso of Manly, or simply put, Manly Corso.
Cafe's and shops provide all you need to enjoy your stay, be it as an occasional visit or a resident, Manly has it all.
W. Y.
A nice beach, breath the fresh air , better to go on weekdays rather than weekends, less people
P. A.
A favorite beach in Sydney. Lots of great shops, good food and a beautiful beach... What more could you need.
f. l.
Nice little beach along with lots of options for food and drinks. 💗
K. K.
Love visiting their and lots of fun activities can do also good place to bring puppys and dogs for walk.
C. H.
Good for 🏄 parking is expensive 10 dollars for one hour parking from 8am! No charges before 8am!
M. S.
Absolutely loved Manly Beach!! Definitely more enjoyable than Bondi because of the shops that are around the area. Definitely a must when you’re in the area!!
A. A.
Gorgeous place. You can do some snorkeling around and you have nice restaurants and bars to have some snacks!
R. Z.
Definitely one of the best beaches in Sydney! There is some good surf, but also amazing opportunities to play beachvolley. There is also quite a good variety of food places nearby. The cherry on top is getting there and back with the ferry, which leaves at circular quay and takes you directly once around the sydney opera house. Very picturesque !! This makes it all together a nice day activity, which can be done on a low budget as well. Enjoy!
K. M.
There's a Surf Carnival on all weekend.
People everywhere, I seriously won't the Rain
To go's and the Sun comes out!
B. M.
Manly Beach is a friendly, popular place for a stroll. Lots of seating and clean sand for enjoying the beach.
A. I.
Beautiful place with plenty of trees behind the sandy shore. Love to enjoy the view by sit on the chair that facing to the blue water. Not only offer beautiful beach, we can also enjoy the circumstances, such as shopping place, restaurant and buildings with contemporer architecture. Must place to visit in Sydney. Just take ferry from Circular Quay to get here, you will arrive at Manly Wharf.
M. R.
Ok, if you go to Manly, you definitely have to go to the cliffs. It's pretty close to manly beach, probably you will spend 10 min walking but the view from there is amazing. Anyway, Manly is a wonderful place to go and have a coffee in the afternoon or just to sit and look the guys surfing! My favourite place in Sydney...until now hehe
M. v. d. H.
Very nice beach. Get's crowded on the weekends. The also have some great events.
E. F.
Best beach of Sydney. period. If you visit Sydney without Manly, you haven't been.
J. N.
Lovely beach definitely better than bondi. It's more peaceful here and less commercial buildings in the surroundings. However the beach distance between the water and land is a lot shorter however the length is very long. Waves are slightly larger here better for surfing.
J. G.
Manly is one of Australia's iconic beaches. You can visit by almost any mode of transportation but the most fun is the fast (or slow) ferry from Sydney's Circular Quay. The beach is crescent shaped and virtually spans the full distance from Shelly Beach to Queenscliff.
Enjoy a walk on the promenade.
Grab brekky at The Pantry.
Go for a swim or a surf if the waves are good.
Would be a 5 star beach but I'm partial to Bondi 😁.
R. M.
Very crystal clear blue sky and beautiful breezy manly beach. One of my favourite spots in sydney
S. J.
Beautiful beach, and lots to see and do! There is a good amount of shopping and restaurants to choose from, and on some Saturdays they have a market where handmade goods are sold. Everything from paintings to jewelry and clothing are available for purchase from local artisans. I really enjoyed walking around and admiring the goods. The only downside I found is that when I visited the currents were too strong for swimming to be allowed, and the beach was a bit crowded (to be expected on a Saturday, however)
P. F.
Lots of shops and restaurants around. Outdoor and indoor public showers. Nice beach to spend the day at.
H. O.
This beach is not too crowded. There are clear markings to separate surfers from swimmers. Everyone seems super polite and friendly. And overall, it didn't feel too touristy. Most people felt like locals. The beach is clean and the lifeguards are active! They will definitely call out to surfers (or swimmers) who start to veer out of their section. I could spend the entire day here (and I did).
S. B.
Good food.. good place... Best to swim and surf as well with lots of good stuffs to do!!
S. T.
Lovely on a Sunday catching a ferry to here, busy though get your timings right and you'd be just fine.
A. G.
Great beach. Unlike the mediterranean however it was not pretentious.
s. m.
Very beautiful, clean and spacious beach near Sydney. It’s easy to visit the beach by ferry.
G. R.
Manly Beach has it all. Great waves for beginner surfing (along with surfing lessons), fantastic cafe's and boutique shops, and volleyball. This is one of my favourite spots for a summertime sunrise surf (best of all parking is free before 7am)
J. A.
Besides Bondi, Manly beach is Sydney's other famous beach, and for good reason. Plenty of space for swimming and surfing in clean blue waters, as well as sunbathing and beach volleyball on the warm golden sand. Well patrolled with lifeguards dotted throughout the entire length of the beach. A must visit location for any beach lover.
G. B.
A beautiful beach with stunning scene. Near from the manly wharf. A good place to visit in weekends.
J. B.
Great beach! Surfer friendly with a lot of space on the sand and in the water.
g. o.
super beautiful beach with any kinda facility and good waves for surfing
L. L.
Best beach in the northern beaches. Bondi is nothing compared to it. Real beauty with far less tourists and a better all rounded community
s. c.
Serene , calm , beautiful and what not? This place has it all for a lazy weekend. You can or take a stroll along the waters or enjoy good food in the restaurants lined up along the road.
J. K.
Great unique beach with pine trees nearby. Sports on the beach would be nice.
T. Y.
My 2nd favorite beach in Sydney. The coast walk is great too
S. Y. L.
There were not many tourists visiting Manly in the early morning, and it was like a paradise.
I. C.
Fantastic beach for exercise, surfing, swimming and fishing.
A. N.
Busy beach with walk along the stretch. Compared to Bondi Beach, Manly Beach is flat and relatively visually less interesting.
G. V.
Nice beach and can have a good walk. Good restaurants are available. Can spend 3 hours. Good beach.
S. T.
Lovely beach. Good shopping area.
R. S.
This is the one of the best Beaches in Sydney. We took a ferry and went there. It was on Sunday so we just paid $2 something for the ferry.
S. C.
Fabulous great cafés super scenery
J. K.
Good, quiet not big crowd.beach closed due to big surf
D. W.
Great Day out. Sunshine, sand and lovely cool ocean.
W. B.
Even on a sunny day in summer there is still plenty of room to find a spot on the beach. Plenty of restaurants of varying prices are also nearby.
J. C.
Very beautiful beach, sunny weather, very relaxing.
F. G.
Best beach in Sydney! I repeat: Best beach in Sydney. Bondi is just ok compared to Manly Beach. What a paradise! Try the bars by the docking station for happy hour!

Good day mate, nice weather lie on the beach, what a great life!
m. h.
Only a quick ferry ride from Sydney CBD. Lots of cafes, restaurants and bars. All around a lovely beach. So take a towel some swimmers and have a great day.
A. M.
Nice big beach, decent surfing, family friendly. Not the best if you want privacy but pretty good spot overall.
J. L.
Good view, great beach, great walking track
C. F.
Pretty clean, nice aesthetics, and good vibes!
o. d.
One of the best beaches in sydney... a bit crowded but amazingly beautiful
A. C.
It is one of the must-see places if you are in New Zealand, it is better to see someone explain it to you or the photos you can see.
R. P.
Best beach northside especially the quieter northern Queenscliff end!
K. B.
Great beach - surfers paradise. Very clean.
K. W.
I prefer Bondi, which is much bigger but that's the matter of personal preference. It is easy to get there via Ferry from Circular Quay and later take some dinner in harbour. In general it was a good
M. H. L. C.
Beautiful beach. Surfers paradise in Sydney area.
A.
One of the best beaches in Sydney !
So clean and the crowd is good !
Relaxing time on this beach is the best weekend :)
The beach has small parks with swings and slides for children !
J. R.
Great beach spot near the city !! Super easy to go to using the ferry from Circular Quay station. A must !!
G.
One of my favourite beaches in Sydney
S. R.
Nice beach but unfortunately extremely busy
e. b.
Nice Beach even during their winter season
T. R.
Beautiful day beautiful place saw dolphins can't ask for much more, only problem was the amount of people breaking the restrictions and meeting for social outings during a lockdown
I. G.
The most convenient beach to get by public transport.
S. S.
coolest place to hangout. beach is clean and has beautiful location.
M. B.
Very clean and not as crowded... Relaxing!
A.
nice beach, not to overcrowded with tourists and good facilities like toilets and changing rooms.
K. L.
The most BEAUTIFUL beach to me in Sydney.
Got lots of events going on as well
It's better planned than Bondi.
B. K. F.
Love the vibe here and lots of shops, restaurants, and activity areas (play area for kids etc).
M. N. u. h. B.
loved it and its no way less than a bondi beach
L. P.
Manly beach is a lovely beach with good parking options, considering its popularity. The atmosphere is always good. Fish and chips on Manly Beach is a pleasure that can be enjoyed without too much effort. There are too many things to do at Manly to list here. It's a great place to visit.
S. P.
Very beautiful and lively beach. Plenty of surfers enjoy surfing here. Many cafes....if you want a long walk , you really enjoy. It looks like a very happening beach. Good and clean toilets on beach. Sitting arrangements at regular intervals if you want to sit and have food. We were lucky enough to see 3 dolphins far away in the see.
M. K.
One of the nice beach at Sydney to spend your day at. Plenty of good restaurants around as well.
A. S.
Why to go to Hawaii, Bali, etc, etc, when everything what we need is just here under our noses. Manly, Dee Why beaches are beautiful, vibrant, just all we need to do is take care of ourselves and others _ social distances, mask , and we will be fine. Happy New year everyone!!
K. C.
Surfing beach with lots of seagulls and beautiful sunsets. Sadly i find limited food options nearby, its either fish & chips or restaurant
P. K.
It was really fun to swim and have a picnic.
A. F.
Nice walk and view. (I guess surfing too)
G. N.
Cafes everywhere, tons of parking and lots of shops to browse through. Always something happening there. Grab a bacon and egg roll and coffee for $8 and sit on the beach wall watching the surfers and people until you decide whether to swim, walk or shop. Walk up to the lookouts at the southern end of Manly it walk to the Ferry terminal for a few beers. Love it.
M. P. (. P.
Lovely beach close to tonnes of restaurants, bars and great transport links to the city.
M. D.
Definately one of the better beaches around Sydney. A lot more accessible than most and generally a lot more happening in the area.
C. H.
Best beach good amenities and lots of cafes offering take a ways.
D. L.
Life is simple, try ice cream in Manly beach!

It very Nice Beach in the north Australian
A. Y.
Recent storms have eroded the sand at the Queenscliff end
This is effecting the walkway underneath the bridge and access to the Dog park at Manly Lagoon
Could be a while before it's all fixed
M. T.
Lovely beach. Had a long beach walk. Love listening to the waves 🌊
C. c.
Fun place with family or weekend walk
S. N. N.
Love Manly Beach even when it is raining.
d. d.
Good long beach with a large sandy strip that accommodates a good sized crowd.
Popular for swimming and surfing.
An ocean pool at one end.
Beware of rips and strong surf at this beach if you are inexperienced at ocean swimming.
Look for the red and yellow flags and swim there. There will be a life guard on duty at this area only.
Good amenities nearby
Good access to convenience and specialty shops, hotels and the Manly ferry
Several volley ball games on top quality courts were being played, a beach tennis game and beach cricket game when i was there last.
Good grassed area and walking path to access the beach. Popular for walking, running, exercising.
Picnic tables in this area also.
Really a top quality setup around the whole area.
A fun day trip from the city via the relatively cheap ferry if you want to cruise across the harbour, have a swim then a feed and a few beers and cruise home across the harbour again.
S. A.
Lovely place, beautiful beach.
G. H.
Beautiful Australia Day on Nth steyne beach watching surf carnival.
D.
Beautiful beach with loads of restaurants and coffee shops. Living here is amazing as you have it all. It does get very busy over the peak periods though. If you are in Sydney, you definitely should take the ferry over to spend the day here.
A. R.
Nice beach, clean and quite wide.
T. J.
South Steyne at Manly hosts the Manly Market during The Manly Jazz Festival . Shop in the market for scenic photos while you’re listening to some cool jazz band!
T. O.
Always good waves - normally not too big. Clean beach and super nice coastal walk
U. S.
Beautiful beach suitable for all age groups.
A. G.
try to go every weekend, love this place its very peaceful
S. Z.
What a beautiful place. Beach is long and the walk along to the hills nearby gives a chance to see spectacular scenes. All basic amenities are there. Loved the experience. Already planning to go their next weekend as well.
s. c.
Love beaches? The place you should never miss.
N. C.
Always a good vibe at Manly, in spite of the drop in visitors due to COVID. Plenty to do, some fantastic restaurants and shops, beautiful beach and a great walk to Shelley beach for those who want to explore a little.
P. P.
Long beach! Clean. Rough sea. Good for surfing! Surf lessons available. Shower and toilets are at convenient location. Hefty parking charges, $10 per hour 2P max during peak seasons, that makes the beach so uneasy for visitors.
S. E.
Gorgeous but packed because everyone just can't get over how incredible this beach is! Swim, surf, snorkeling, diving, walking, hiking, gorgeous sunrises and sunsets. In love with Manly.
K. A.
Just beautiful. Even when all of Sydney seems to be there it's so big it can hold everyone. There's a nice promenade which is great for walking taking in the views. Definitely worth the trip from the city - make sure you come by the ferry, the views from which are just amazing too
B. F.
Delightful place to spend a day out at the beach. Wide variety of foods and drinks available along the beach and great atmosphere. Can be quite crowded, and transportation to and from can be a hassle so be warned. Definitely worth going for a day out whether a tourist or just looking for a day off.
T. K.
I love Manly beach in a different way to the also glorious Eastern Suburbs beaches. Working on the local paper #manydaily gave me a true appreciation of the majesty and power of the sea. It's also chilled and inclusive you'll find no body shaming here.
L. E.
My absolute favourite beach in Sydney! Take the ferry to Manly and enjoy small cafes and great bars with a incredible view on the bright ocean! Also a good place for families with children.
D. U.
Great beach. North is more local and the south is touristy. Surfing, beach volleyball, playgrounds and more. Lively all year round. Lots of bars and restaurans just across the road. Great for families, couples and everyone. Nice beach walk to the Shelly beach. Worth a visit.
M. H.
One of the best beaches in the built environment in the world. Nothing further to say.
D. W.
This beach kinda has it all. From a beautiful beach to coves great for snorkeling a walk away. The pubs, cafe and restaurant have a wide range of appeals and prices and manly has become much safer for a night out than it had a reputation for in the past.
K. M.
Fun tourist beach. Volleyball, surfing, cliffs, sand, surf.
A. N.
The best way to go there is to take the ferry. You will then enjoy the city view and the rocky hills whilst you having your coffee. The beach itself is crowded, there was a warning sign about polluted water which is not suitable for swimming. However, you may enjoy the cafe and restaurants.
C. L.
Relaxing and refreshing place to go. Beautiful
H. M.
Beautiful day for a walk from North Steyne Surf Club to Shelly Beach and back. Great Covid-19 tonic.
M. S.
Beautiful beach with decent surf for all kinds of swimmers. Place is very populated with tourists for good reason. There's also a stack of good places to eat and drink.
If you drive, be prepared for a walk as the parking situation is pretty poor unless you're willing to pay.
L.
Manly, a beach taken over by tourists, if you dont want to be around tourists head over to balmoral beach, its usually quiet, its generally a much better place than manly beach.
K. P.
Best beach 🏖️ in Sydney. Visit from CBD by ferry or bus. The long sandy beach is popular for sailing, surfing, swimming, cycling, ocen front walk to Shelly beach. Visit Manly Art Gallery and Museum, historical North Head Quarantine Station, Manly corso - shopping district, snorkel walk & talk tour, Room Eight Escape Rooms, Sea Life Sanctuary, Peddldboard yoga.
G. T.
Gets very busy, but great for an early surf
R. K.
Northern Beaches win over Eastern Suburbs. A fresh uncrowded beautiful beach with volleyball nets, ocean bath, coastal walk, lots of grassy area, snorkelling and sheltered beaches nearby
Z. R.
I cannot understand the fuss about Bondi as Manly beach is much nicer, cleaner and friendlier.
T. O.
Good waves for body boarding, although sometimes a little rough. Well gaurded and surrounded by the Manly Corso where you can get good ice cream and other yummies.
N.
This would have to be one of the best beaches in Sydney. Best to catch the ferry from Circular Quay as parking can be an issue on the weekends. Plenty of places to eat and there are toilets and showers available after being in the water. It's mainly a surfing beach but there are also swimmers and volleyball which is played on the sand.
B. K.
One of the best beach in Sydney. Must visit place, specially the shops beside the beach.
D. C.
Nice beach .Not a bad place to go for walking around.
A. S.
Great beach. The walk from the wharf to the beach is also pretty good. Good selection of restaurants and eateries - must visit if you're in Sydney. The ferry ride makes it even better.
S. L.
Best beach in Australia! Possibly the world!👍
F. H.
In Sydney Australia for a few days and decided to go to Manly Beach via the ferry. Nice 30 minute boat ride from Sydney Harbor (great views of harbor, bridge and the Opera House. Upon arriving at Manly, nice pedestrian walking path with a terrific view of one of Australia's premier surfing beaches. Some very charming restaurants and shops in the town center.
s.
Wow what a pleasant place to visit, very neat water looks fresh with less mud and with all over coastal guards to guide people if they cross border, also you can find relaxing chairs/surfing pads available on rent. there are water taps as well to get freshup from sea water.
M. J.
We were here in autumn and enjoyed a nice walk on the beach. It's like any other beach you'd see in southern CA so not sure what the big deal is but lots of Aussie friends recommended coming here so we did.
C. I.
Came here on holiday from UK. The beach is pure beauty with idilic turquoise waters and golden sand. There are also frequent lifeguards along the whole beach and safety flags. Nearby is manly town (just across the road) which has a great selection of gift stores and places serving delicious food.
K.
I just love Manly Beach and the walk from The Spit Bridge is invigorating. Watch the ferries come in and out, hop on the ferry to Circular Quay or grab something to eat or drink at the wharf. So many options for a quick snack or a sit down meal. The views are spectacular and it's nice to sit down with a coffee and watch the boats on the Harbor or people watch.
N. C.
Nice long beach with a walkway all along it and a grassed area behind that. Norfolk Island pines line the area to give some shade. Various cafes and restaurants line the street adjacent. There are several beach volleyball courts set up as well.
P. S.
Wow... The colour of the ocean is mesmerizing. The beach is very clean and the beach side road is perfect for jogging. There are plenty of toilets and free driniking water sprinklers for tourists. I went during sunset and was spellbound by the out of the world beauty of mother nature.
F.
Must visit place in Sydney. I loved DD the ferry tide from circular quay to Manly. This beach is vibrant during weekends as most of locals hit there. Good place for picnic and family outing. There are plenty of restaurants which has food for sort of budget. Also souvenir shops has more variety than the one that are in city and price competitive too.
T. C.
A great beach with a good range of eateries and even a grocery store within walking distance from the beach.
Be aware of the time limitations if you are driving and wish to park just off from the beach. Alternatives are to park in the nearby Council parking lots or to consider taking the ferry in.
J. V. J.
Beautiful beach. Options for surfing, volleyball or just relaxing.
A. M.
One of the most iconic beaches in Australia. The pictures don't do it justice. It's a must do when you are in Sydney.
Quite crowded in peak seasons, however the facilities are clean and safe.
J. G.
Almost worth a 5 star rating. The change rooms are a fair walk away from the red & yellow flags put in the sand by the lifeguards. With regards to the men's change room {and possibly the women's change room too} there's no light switch to turn the light on {it's a mostly dark in there}. The showers in the change room {& possibly with the other ones on the beach} need to be better at water pressure delivery & water jet strength. The beach water temperature today {31st of January 2020} was Perfect. Enjoyed EVERY minute of the waves & the waves {for my preference} are better than at the artificial beach at Raging Waters Prospect. 🏖🏊♂️🎏🌡
J. L.
One of the better beaches with wide sand zone cleaner sand, includes volley ball nets set up.
Great shops for food on other side of Manly beach. Swim between two flags available. Tree lined promenade provides shade for people and picnic tables.
C. Z. (.
Manly is one of the most famous destinations for overseas visitors as well as Sydney siders. The only thing I would add up is that my experience of kayaking there is so fascinating and challenging. Besides, a bush walking from spit bridge to Manly is a must do.
L. M.
Really interesting beach as far as the contrast of the beach side with the large pine trees. VERY safe. The lifeguards are all over it with when to be in and out of the water and where's safe to swim/surf. We also did the 9km walk from the Spit to Manly that was great!
V. D.
This amazing beach is the beach to be in Sydney, it has surfing waves for the sport fans. And there are even surfing schools for you to start!
The beach is really clean and everyone is really friendly.
The sand is amazingly white, and during summer gets really crowded but hey, it a is a great place and everyone wants a part of it!
N.
Caught the train into the city. Caught the Manly Ferry to Manly, and then ran from Manly back to Hyde Park. This was one example of me getting to know the city. I used Manly, the beach and North Head as focal points for all my running on the North Shore. Nothing like a swim after running and swimming at Manly Beach was the thing to do.
K. E.
Amazing beach!
This is the place, where my father taught me how to surf. It left a lot of nice memories and I like to come back every now and then, although it has gotten pretty crowded and is not the best location for surfing. Except for the huge amounts of people visiting this place there isn't a single bad point to say about it. The beach caters for everyone's needs and tastes. You can simply go there for sunbathing as many others do, but you can also go snorkelling or scuba diving.
The beach is very well kept and always clean. There are enough lifeguards, which are all experienced. Once I witnessed a very dangerous situation, but they handled it excellently and in a very short time.
You can also find a lot of places offering nice food and refreshing drinks.
Overall Manley Beach has everything you need for a nice day out in the water.
C. M.
It's a nice beach. Beautiful for a long walk. I usually prefer more intimate beaches but this is nice if you want to go with friends. Really like the many volley field where you can spend time with friends.
K. C.
Great outing for the family or just to take in the views and fresh air by the sea. Long level walks with grasses areas and riding paths. Close to shops and food outlets with plenty to see and do in this famous Australian venue.
A. M.
Lovely beach, pretty big in size, so it easily fits all tourists on weekends. Good for surfing as well, it can get a bit windy over there.
D. C.
Great open beach, great surf when weather conditions are good.
Plenty of activities to enjoy...particularly if you are into volley ball, surfing and walking
G. A.
Well kept and with two life savers clubs
i. a.
One of the best beaches i hv been to... The ferry ride from circular Quay is amazing and adds a whole new dimension to your trip to manly... Then the walk from dock to the beach with all little specialty shops is just awesome
O. P.
One of the best beach in Sydney !
C. ..
I just love Manly Beach. So many options for a quick snack or a sit down meal. It's so nice to sit down with a drink and enjoy the spectacular view and watch the ferries come in and out.
B. T.
The iconic sydney beach with its own feel and flavour away from the grind of the city. If you don't live on the northern beaches the best way to access Manly is by taking the ferry from Circular Quay which runs every half hour
L. A. N.
Manly, along with its upbeat vibe, beautiful walks...great surf, clean beaches, play grounds fpr the kids and superb cafés, restaurants and bars...can't get any better than that. Something for everyone 😉
P. S.
Great place to just take a walk along the beach or have lunch. Parking can be a bit of a nightmare but coming by ferry from Circular Quay is a great trip if you want to make more of a day of it.
T. M.
Nice beach, there is a giant swimming pool right on the beach next to the water! It's kool! Lots of people hang out on the beach, walkers, joggers, cyclists, families, kids. And there's a family friendly dog park where there's a shallow stream that's quite long. The water's clear at Manly Beach. Residents can be selfish though. I still had fun.
P. C.
Nice big beach with plenty of sand to sit on as well as lots of shaded benches and tables along the path before the sand. There are plenty of opportunities to surf with lots of waves. The water is a nice shade of blue and pretty clean. There are lots of cafes, restaurants and takeaway places to grab a bite to eat and drink.
B. S.
One of the beaches that makes Sydney the city that it is. Expansive beach that becomes Queenscliff as you go north along the beach. Numerous breaks. Board rentals, surfing lessons and and no shortage of bars, restaurants and cafe's close at hand. A Sydney icon and a must visit if you've never been.
M. M.
Love Manly
Beautiful Beach,my Favorite in Sydney
Going there with the Ferry, have stroll trough the Main Street and after all you reach the Ocean .Outstanding
Very relaxing when you walk along the Beach.
You can be all by yourself watch the waves comming in or even so watch the Surfers perform.
So many things to see an do
C. Y.
Great beach...good restaurants around, and the scenary fantastic.
W. A. (.
The best. Lots to see and do. Good cafes and restaurants, the Corso is nearby and worth visiting, the surf is good, and the beach is long and wide. Beach volleyball and surfing classes. Plenty of space to lie on the beach and relax
Nice scenery, shaded areas and places to walk your dog's on a leash. Take plenty to drink although you can buy water and soft drinks in plenty of places. Fish and chips on the benches is a favourite. Remember to take your rubbish with you when you leave.
M. P.
It was great once we got a parking spot (which almost took an hour). The water was a bit rough but the sun was out & the water was awesome.
J. O.
BEAUTIFUL, clean beach, volleyball courts, soft sand, clean bathrooms, well monitored, places close by to get good food and drinks, life guards, and warm ocean water.
Lots of surfers and nice people.
Take a camera 📷
Time well spent!
A. S.
This was the first beach I went to after landing in Australia. And it lived up to my expectation. I mean it literally blew away my mind. Not having seen a beach for quite some time now, it blew my mind. It was fun to play in the water. The area was quite managed with other services like places to play beach volleyball and to sit around were there. Overall a five 🌟 experience.
C. O.
Great beach with plenty of restaurants and ships right across the street. You can catch a ferry there grim Circular Quay or Watson's Bay, whichever you choose. From the ferry to the beach is about a 300m walk or so. There is also a public restroom right on the beach as well.
N. A.
Great for tourists and children. Also good for inexperienced surfers and beginners
S. C.
Ups - Very well connected by public transport Bus and ferry. Near to the city, has got good walking trail. Plenty of cafes and places to eat. It got a kids play area as well. Its happening and nice. Downs - Too crowded, hard to find a parking
T. B.
Incredibly busy beach with bad traffic. There are some nice shops and restaurants in the area though, with flea markets on weekends.
O. Y.
What's there not to love about a beach.
A. T.
I do like this beach a lot, but in comparison to some of the other 100+ beaches in Sydney I've been to, it's not up to the hype in my opinion. Great for surfing/bodyboarding though
T. T.
Turn up early and check out the swimmers who are up at the crack of dawn to swim from Manly beach to Shelly Beach!
S. B.
A trip on the ferry to Manly spending a day on the beach and the corso cannot be missed if you spend time in Sydney. Filled with trendy shops, cafes and restaurants back dropped by one of the most vibrant surfing beaches in Sydney. Summer, winter, autumn or spring is specially enjoyable
A. B.
Although it is a super touristic place, Manly is one of my preferred spots in Sydney. It is my choice when I wake up late in the weekend, as it is not very far from where I live.
There are many scenic walks around, such as the North Head, Spit to Manly, Dee Why to Manly, among others, and I really like to explore the area.
Almost every time I go to Manly, my last stop before heading home is the 4 Pines brewery.
A. M.
“Thee shan’t go to Sydney without havin’ a quick dip at Manly Beach” - William Shakespeare.
Picturesque views and a laid back community vibe all in close proximity to a wide variety of clean, high quality restaurants and cafés. The Northern Beaches Council should invest in a wall between Manly and it’s algae-infested marsh rival- Shelly Beach. Just kidding, love both beaches!
B. O.
Manly Beach is a wonderful place,in an amazing city. I like to travel the world to appreciate how good Sydney beaches are.Not many cities have such a wonderland at their doorstep.
V. S.
Very long beach, only 20 minutes drive from Sydney cbd, many bars, restaurants and pubs around with good shopping experience as well. Great transport Ferry, bus or taxis. Great to visit in Summer
M.
Manly Beach was much simpler with the least attraction compared to Bondi and Tamarama beaches that we had visited. It had the least number of people on the beach too.
You can have a game of beach volleyball or simply jog on the beach like what the others did. One thing remained unchanged – The beaches were always spotlessly clean and the waves pleasant to look at.
C. M.
Manly beach is always a nice treat. It's a little more expensive to get to from the city compared to the beaches, as you have to get a ferry ( which gives you great views of both the opera house and the bridge). The beach is lot quiter than others and perfect for a picnic day or to just grab some fish and chips and watch the waves.
G. K.
Great surf, beautiful long sandy beach, with Shelly beach at one end has a great kiosk for breakfast and lunch and good flat walk along the beach past Manly surf club to Queens cliff surf club.
Y. A.
Best beach for surfing.
N.
Beautiful beach that is good for surfing and swimming. There are a lot of shops, restaurants and cafes around. You can access it easily with ferry and rent a surf for $ 15 for 2 h! There is also a lot of guards around so it's really safe.
R. D.
One of the most beautiful beaches. Walk here from The Spit is the best adventure and take the ferry back to sydney. Beware of the Seagulls they want your yummy fish and chips from around here too, they just dont have the habit to ask nicely.
A. R. S.
It’s cool I was just taking a ferry to get a view of the opera house, didn’t realize it was taking us to an actual beach! Watched the surfers and ate ice cream. There are mini penguins here as well because this is Australia and nothing is normal. I love it.
A. M.
Great stretch of beach, with lot of activities that can be done. From surfing to playing Valley Ball. Bigger beach than Bondi, so one can get good space around to play any games/activities. Decent and not very crowdy.
S. R.
Absolutely love this place. When possible, it's great to relax for a few hours, mooching around, soaking in the atmosphere and ambiance. Take a moment, sit alongside the beach, have a cold beverage, maybe fish & chips, and chill for a bit.
S. B.
It is a beautiful a beach ! Great food ! Ample parking spaces. . Washroom . . Baby changing room available. All you need is a beautiful weather for that perfect day
J. J.
Must visit location when you visit Sydney. The location is very lively with lots of restaurants and fun activities. Beach is neat and popular place for surfing. The beach facing streets are vibrant and nice place to roam around.
E. E.
Nice beach, even on cloudy days. Plenty to do around it.
N. H.
Nice beach. Picnic tables are available along the beach.
B. C.
Love it!!! Want to be back here so badly. Aiming to move to Sydney in 2020 and this location would be ideal. Beautiful beach, lots of facilities - espeically free volleyba nets all along beach
J. K.
I prefer Manly to Bondi!
J. N.
Just absolutely loved our day at Manly, it's a beautiful stretch along the coast line. There is a walk from the main beach to shelley cove which is just divine with cute little shops and cafes along the way and a swimming pool if you want to cool off but escape the waves! It's a better version of Bondi, my girlfriend and I agreed.
P. L.
Very nice little beach and the ferry ride over from Circular Quay is lovely. Take a picnic or grab fish and chips while you're there and just enjoy the scenery.
M. V.
One of the most famous beach of Sydney. There are music and food festivals happen almost every term.
A place worth to live or to see.
K. Z.
The regular ferry is worth trying, not the fast one, it is too expensive. Manly Beach is a place good for seeing the sun rise and sun set as well. But lots tourists I feel.
N. N.
One of my favorites. Beautiful views. Perfect for a nice long walk along the beach. Many nice cafes and restaurants around too. The ferry ride also makes it special. Can get a bit too crowded at times though.
r. r.
One of my favourite beaches... all good peps.
Long beach walk with pool on one side and freshwater on the other side. Lots of parking around. Not great for surfing 🌞🏄♂️🏊🏻♀️🏊🏻♂️🏖⛱🏝
T. W.
Beautiful, wide and long which means it never feels too crowded. The marker flags for the safe areas to swim never seem that wide though so the water can get a little crowded as people cram in between the flags.
R. S.
One of the best beaches in Australia if you are a beach volleyball player. This beach has a magical power to generate summer all year around. Very addictive.
A. C. K. M.
Great beach, it can get a little crowded on sunny summer days but it's a very relaxed and chill place to go to relax or catch up with friends, the restaurants along the beach front offer a wide array of cusines from fish and chips to burgers to modern Australian and night out for that special occasion.
C. L.
Beautiful strip of beach.
F. W.
Only one ferry trip away from the circular quay. Nice beaches and great restaurants. A perfect beach for surfing. Not too crowded like bondi.
M. L.
One of the jewels of Sydney.
There's so much to do - swim, surf, eat at the tremendous range of restaurants or walk the Corso. The biggest challenge is parking, however if you're only around for a couple of hours, there's 2 hours free parking at Coles and the Council. Otherwise beach parking is reasonable.
p. s.
The life guards can be a bit annoying. The length between the two flags is too short thus it can hard to keep with in the monitored area. If you want to swim, It is more fun at Shelly Beach which just a short walk from Manly.
S. G.
Beautiful place to spend your leisure time. Ride from opera's ferry boarding station till the beach is fun of it's own.
Path towards the main beach from ferry station hosts lots of restra n pubs, as well as shops of various kinds. Along d way u may find street artists performing.
They also have restra which allow BYO...
I.e bring your own liqour and they just charge you for crockerage.
Beach itself is clean and beautuful.
Although I didn't find any water sports out there when visited.
May b they are giving surfing lessons ouy there.
In short.... manly beach is one of the most famous beaches in Sydney to visit.
S. D.
Highy recommended! From Circular Quay, take the Manly Ferry and get up close the Sydney Opera house. Enjoy the view while travelling to Manly Wharf...walk to the beach and enjoy the waves.
G. A.
Probably the best beach I visited in Sydney. The ferry ride from Circular Quay past the Opera House is stunning enough, but the open golden sands that stretches for miles is beautiful. Less touristy and bigger than Bondi, it's a lovely area whether you want to surf, laze about or just stroll down the coastline.
c. w.
A good place in northen sydney, arriving by ferry
L. G. G. A.
Enjoy swimming, surfing and delicious beachside places to eat and drink at iconic Manly Beach, one of Australia’s most famous beaches. There are picnic tables on the promenade. You can also enjoy exciting and informative tours, from surfing lessons to snorkelling, diving, cycling and walking.
Getting to Manly Beach is easy. Hop on a ferry at Circular Quay and glide across one of the world’s great natural harbours to manly for a short walk to the beach along the Corso, a lively shopping and pedestrian boulevard. On the Corso and adjacent to the beach is a delicious range of places to eat.
Manly Beach is an ideal place to learn to surf. If you're an absolute beginner, the gentle waves at the south end of manly beach provide the perfect conditions for learning.
Manly village is also a great spot for a picnic lunch, beachfront promenades, shopping and eating out.
Enjoy outdoor activities with your family in Manly, home to iconic Manly Beach. There are lovely spots for family picnics and barbecues. You can hire bicycles and ride to North Head for spectacular views, try surfing, snorkelling and kayaking, and even hire a skipper and sail on Sydney Harbour.
With ocean pools, patrolled beaches, playgrounds and fun tours, Manly is perfect for a family day out. You’ll find plenty of kid-friendly places to eat or enjoy a family picnic under towering Norfolk Island pines that shade the picnic tables on the pretty promenade at iconic manly beach
The beach curves 1.4km and is patrolled by three surf lifesaving clubs. Remember to always swim between the yellow and red flags. You can enrol the kids in surfing lessons, too. An ocean pool is at the northern end and a short scenic walk at the southern end will take you to fairy bower pool.
W. D.
Timely crowds, harsh sun and expensive coastline shops will be the least of your worries when the air and water quality are so much better than the immensely populated Bondi and Bronte beaches. Worth while, especially if you are not from the Manley area.
D. G.
Much quieter than other city beaches. Plenty of space for beginners. Food and drink close by but parking can be a challenge
G. W.
For me, ten times better than Bondi.
Easy to reach with the ferry but it doesnt run late into the evening, so be careful. The North end has a great salt water pool and little cave walk through the headland. The south end presents Shelley beach; a hidden gem.
P. C. B.
A grand beach with length of about 3 Kilometres roughly and best beauty of sea shore can be enjoyed at both ends. Left side ends in Rocky steps where the waves strike to froth and create spectacular visuals. The right end is more beautiful with extention via Marine parade costal walk to one more beautiful small beach called Shelly Beach. Shelly is a paradise beach.
U. K.
Great place for relaxing
W. S.
Excellent beach to swim.
h. n.
Nice and clean beach
S. F.
Manly beach was awarded top 10 beaches in the world and its right. Free beach volleyball is a big plus as there almost isn't another beech in Sydney with free volleyball. Good surfing as well .
K. B.
Well looked after hive of activity - especially 5am in the morning...
L. H.
Lunch menu mainly Italian cuisine. Very crowded even though we had booked. One waiter passed dirty plates over my head, not impressed with that. Generally had the feeling they were most interested in was turnover.
R. M.
Nice beach, and in the off season a good place to go out for a surf. 15 bucks and you can rent a board and have fun for an hour or two.
S. R. R.
Good vibes, nice restaurants amd pubs around. With several options like organic food, fast food.
In the Christmas period tou have Manly Santa Sunday - each pub has a happy hour and everybody is dressed with Santa clothes
P. H.
Manly beach - a tourist beach from almost any place in the world with large numbers of surf schools, beaches where movie/tv production take place, and the baby stroller squad is out in force. A nice place to be
A. M.
The ferry ride is great! Lovely big old boat and the view is amazing!
Manly is a good place to go for a coffee, a bite to eat, or for gelato. HOWEVER, the beach was a big dissapointment. Too crowded, even in the middle of winter. Don't want to imagine how it is during summer. The beach has 2 huge rain-gutters in the middle and there is a warning saying "water becomes poluted after heavy rain".
Just enjoy the ferry, the walk, the food, but don't plan swimming in the ocean or sun-bading on the beach.
M. S.
After Bondi Beach another nice, clean and less crowded beach to visit is Manly Beach. Manly itself is a nice place. Lots of Bars, Pubs, Hotels, Motels, restaurants and fast food cafes. Great place!!
J.
The beach is stunning just like many of the sydney beaches. Lots of open sand volleyball courts available to use. Bathroom and water fountains and of course The Corso is filled with little stores and varied restaurants.
S. A.
Very nice beach with incredible sand
M. J.
Simply amazing. The area is full of great places to chill and everything looks amazing. The beach is great and some people tried surfing there too. Quite fun to watch!
P. R.
I do not understand the fuzz about Bondi... Why is it that manly is not THE place to go when in Sidney? You want a nice beach? yes! You want plenty of very nice restaurants? Yes You want good access to/from Sydney? Yes -via ferry-. you want to simply walk in nice streets? Come over. I had no idea this place existed and i do not regret a bit having made the trip!
A. D.
Best beach in Sydney

Manly beach was a fantastic place to visit!
I tried fish and chips at one of the seafood restaurants.
We also took a bike ride around the beach and had a great view of the ocean and watched the sunset.
It was incredible!

What can I say aboutManly beach other than spectacular! 3 kilometres of gorgeous sand and beautiful oceans makes this a great place to spend a few hours or take the family for the day. There are plenty facilities available for you to make your beach trip enjoyable. If you’re going for breakfast I would recommend blue water cafe as it’s right on the beach and caters for Vegans. For lunch I’d try Fika Swedish cafe or Chicabonita. The beach has a great dirk life saving crew that keep a close eye on the beach goers. You can surf, body board, swim, play beach volleyball or just kick back and relax. If snorkelling is your thing, check out the protected water at Shelly Beach which is only a 5 minute walk away. This area is a little more sheltered so the calmer waters can be good for young kids.

Manly is a must-see and walk areas are for all fitness levels. Superb food on the strip and feels like you are not even in a big city.
Chilled vibe indeed.
H. A.
If you are a tourist and visiting Sydney you must check out the Manly beach.
It’s clean, beautiful and family friendly. Plenty of shops around and activities to do.
C. M.
Great beach, personally I like it much better than Bondi, family friendly but not so much so that you feel like you can't be there without kids. Overall really great atmosphere and not as busy as Bondi either
H. S. S.
My favorite beach near to Sydney. It's bigger than other famous beaches such as Bondi or Coogee. It is less crowded than these, best day to go is on Monday. There good options around for food. The ferry from Sydney to Manly is awesome with beautiful views of the harbor bridge and the opera house.

Beautiful,large.lovely place to be here
L. E.
great beach, one of the best. well staffed by lifeguards. the beach was busy on a hot summers day and the lifeguards went above and beyond to make sure that everyones safety was maintained
S. P.
Very beautiful and lively beach. Plenty of surfers enjoy surfing here. Many cafes....if you want a long walk , you really enjoy. It looks like a very happening beach. Good and clean toilets on beach. Sitting arrangements at regular …

Love love love

Gods own country.

Beautiful beach with loads of restaurants and coffee shops. Living here is amazing as you have it all. It does get very busy over the peak periods though. If you are in Sydney, you definitely should take the ferry over to spend the day here.
B. T.
The iconic sydney beach with its own feel and flavour away from the grind of the city. If you don't live on the northern beaches the best way to access Manly is by taking the ferry from Circular Quay which runs every half hour
A. S.
Great beach. The walk from the wharf to the beach is also pretty good. Good selection of restaurants and eateries - must visit if you're in Sydney. The ferry ride makes it even better.
i. a.
One of the best beaches i hv been to... The ferry ride from circular Quay is amazing and adds a whole new dimension to your trip to manly... Then the walk from dock to the beach with all little specialty shops is just awesome
A. M.
Great place for some exercise or as simple as a stroll to get away from the ‘home office’.
T. C.
A great beach with a good range of eateries and even a grocery store within walking distance from the beach. …
k. m.
This is on of the greats in Sydney.
N. S. (.
Great beach, lots of cafes and resturants. Great atmosphere. Nice walking paths. Payment for parking a must and hard to find parking on the beach when the day is sunny.
S.
One of the very best beaches in Sydney that are more accessible ; would usually have some avid surfers and at night, its a peaceful place for a jog ; amenities nearby are awesome too!
J. S.
I like going to Manly beach every now and then as I enjoy the view on the ferry on the way to it. The beach (there are actually two) is big and great if you are looking for waves in order to surf or for body boarding. What I don't like about Manly beach is that it's rather touristy and therefore also quite crowded (especially compared to family beaches like Balmoral or Dee Why). You can see dolphins sometimes and sit on the stairs and enjoy a gelato (from Ben and Jerrys!) when it's too cold to go for a swim.
J. T.
Although Bondi Beach is probably the more famous of the beaches in Sydney, I prefer to spend my day in Manly. Situated at the north end of the habour, it has plenty of beautiful beaches within the small peninsula and also the longest beach in Sydney. Not to mention the restaurants and cafes here tend to be more upmarket.
C. B. s.
One the most famous landscape/beach in Australia.
Insta @cangaussie for beautiful beach sarong designs.
C. D.
An easy beach to access from Sydney, plenty to do and see. A ferry ride from the city gives you the full harbour experience. Definitely put a visit to Manly on your list.
G. K.
Manly Beach is this beach where you must have been when you visit Sydney, just a lovely spot for a dip in the ocean or watch the surfers and if you are lucky, you can spot dolphins. I have seen them already twice.
H. N.
Taking the ferry to this peninsula beach is always a little treat for someone who stays in the city like me. The beach is not overly crowded but can certainly be more enjoyable without all the touristy stuff going on. The upside is that there is a wide variety of good restaurants around to grab a glass of cold drink and delicious food while taking in the scenery. Another thing that keeps me coming back is the Manly Market Place and all the quirky little stuff they offer, many of which I don't find in the city markets (I once got a little friendship anklet with tiny elephants in teal that I always wear). So yes, Manly has the package for a chilled, simple summer weekend for me: cool market, lovely beach and convenience of food and drinks. And have I mentioned the ferry ride?
S. P.
Top spot and choice of a Pacific beach or the calmer Sydney Harbour facing beach. Great day out from Sydney.
J. M.
This is a great beach that is less touristy then Bondi. If your going to go to Manly, you've got to take the 30 minute ferry from circular quay. It's the best way to get to the area. There is also a small beach called Shelly Beach that is walking distance from the main beach which is a must!
k. l.
Best beach in the Northern Beaches area!
H. 7.
Really nice and clean beach, you can watch surfer all the times, public toilets available, restaurants and shops nearby, lifeguard are here to watch people underwater.
G. D.
Big sandy beach with lifeguards. Quieter than Bondi, well worth the ferry over which also gives you views of the harbour. Lots of options for food and drink
M. L.
Come have a wander around, get some good coffee (not the starbucks) and enjoy.
Go for a walk up to North Head via Shelley Beach or up to Queenscliff to escape the crowds on busy days.
P. A.
Lovely scenery and quaint pubs and shops. Stopped at "Fire and Ice" restaurant and had one of the best Bloody Mary's during my stay in the Sydney area.
G. A.
Manly is the perfect combination of the beach life and having the ability of going out afterwards. Having nice food or drinks after enjoying your day exploring the suburb
T. S.
This amazing beach have a very clean water and a lot of beauty people too
You can enjoy all the day getting summer with your family or friends
You can go by ferry which is a great option
P. F.
One of my favourite beaches. Great for fish & chips sitting on the promenade. A walk around to Shelley Beach is very enjoyable.
S. 2.
Amazing weather and scenery 😊
D. L. J. H.
If you know where to walk, there s a beautiful cave and rock ledge right on the edge of the beach that is AMAZING! I will see if I can add it to Google maps, I just hope it isn't destroying the beauty of it by sending many people there! Fingers crossed.
J. L.
OH MY LAND I would've spent my entire vacation here if I didn't have anything else planned. LOVE that beach! Went every chance I could and it's got free wifi! What more could you want?!
H. K.
The most beautiful beach in Sydney..
t. s.
Forget Bondi, Manly is where it's at!
N. C.
Nice little place. You can have very nice walk. Not the best beach in Aussie but a good one "in town"
p. n.
Beautiful beach with awesome blue waters and cliffs on both sides of the beach. A short walk from the wharf, with lots of great restaurants and eateries dotting the place.
N. E.
Really nice place to have a good lunch in Hugos restaurant just with a amazing view. Beach is near the wharf an you can do a beautiful walk to shelly beach.
P. S.
One of Sydney's most-popular tourist destinations, Manly has it all. Take a picturesque ferry ride from Circular Quay and you're dropped off at the wharf with a literal smorgasbord of options in front of you. There's shopping, cafes, beaches, more shopping, bars, outdoor entertainment, Manly has it all. It's no wonder it has such a great reputation among tourists and locals alike.
L. D.
Beautiful, gorgeous, lovely cafes, nice pine trees for shade. Way better than Bondi!
R. M.
Manly is amazing place winter just locals and a few travellers where you Bond friendships and in the summer its amazing to have so many happy people on holidays in a place others call home. More like a village than bondi. And lots of secrets places to find in nature
S. S.
Awesome place - incredibly smooth parking lot with a wide and varied assortment of asphalt patches artistically positioned in a magnificent and splendid panorama - bisected by dimensionally challenged white ornamentally designed parodies of intergalactic containment zones... And it has nice sand apparently (...people say...)
T. D.
It's one of Sydney's world-famous beaches for a reason.
It's beautiful. A long, golden ribbon of sand, with crashing swell, dramatic rocks at the Queenscliff end, a sheltered cove at the Shelly Beach end. Paths for walkers and cyclists. Sunbakers, swimmers, surfers.
There's lots to do. Obviously the watersports. Beach volleyball? Easy. Kids playgrounds? Yep. Bars and restaurants? Almost too many!
Less crowded, and far less touristy than Bondi. Manly embodies all the best bits of Sydney beach life.
I'll admit my view may be slightly coloured by the fact that, as a Manly ratepayer, I get up to 4 hours of free parking each day.
V. T.
Gorgeous beach that was very clean and maintained when we visited. Lots of cool stuff to do around and the water is great too. Must see 👀👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
M. S.
Beach itself is great with good waves too, but tourist ripoff in many shops and cafes, e.g. adding 1$ extra for sugar in the coffee. Always check your bills!
O. B.
Its a nice beach, not that crowded and good for surfing. You can rent equipments and take lessons if you like.
J. M.
Dud ethics of this place are incredible to be honest.
W. S.
Nice and relaxing beach. Lots of restaurants around. Easy to access via public transportation. Only complaint is the lack of parking spots when the place gets busy.
S. M.
best way to travel here is probably via the ferry from circular quay - fantastic view on the way! also, there is a woolies on the way to the beach to stock up on ice/fruits/drinks for a day picnic.
N. S.
The Surfer's beach in Sydney, Manly lives upto its reputation. The stretch of beach is everybit as gorgeous as the postcards make it out to be. Summers see the beaches packed with throngs of tourists sunbaking or enjoying a game of volleyball. Its patrolled by Lifegaurds so a very safe beach to swim in. And if you like to get your surf up then there's the Manly Surf school to go to. With its crystal blue waters and soft sand you will not be able to get enough of this paradise. There are plenty of resturants and cafes all around the place mostly in and around The Corso, catering to different tastes and pockets.
O. H. (. W. T. W.
A great place to relax, and I think it's better than Bondi.
S. C.
Great beach for relaxing near the city plenty of places to rent boards etc. Could do with more sun beds and umbrellas.
N. G.
A must for tourists, a blessing for locals, nothing can go wrong in Manly
G. B.
Amazing beach. Clean and family friendly
A. L.
The beach is not bad, there are better beaches in NSW, Australia. The vibe around here is good though. A lot of shops, restaurants and cafes to satisfy most people.
I. F.
Manly beach is a beautiful beach in Sydney! But not too beautiful than the Brazilians beaches! Have many Brazilians there and the sunset there is beautiful!!! I went there with my friends.
I. F.
Amazing beach. Wish there was more parking and there were beach chairs available on the north and south areas for public use
J. G.
Quite a unique, popular beach this one is. Great for families and friends. Council Rangers also doing a great job patrolling the beach..
R. S.
Different dynamic on a weekday, nice walk as well. Beach was beautiful and swim was brisk
S. N.
One of Sydney's iconic beaches, this is where l learnt to surf, love this beach and so do a lot of people if you're a first-timer you'll fall in love with the beach and the atmosphere
V. -.
Beautiful beach best in Australia great in the summer or to go for a nice walk along there
i. w.
A beautiful winter's day with light showers around and as a result not as walkers. Lots of board riders on a glassy swell.
B. B.
Lovely walking paths.
v. d.
If you are looking partying and crowds this is a very nice place. Check for local events and block parties. Accessible via ferry, bus and car! Kids will also enjoy.
P. M.
Lovely spot, great vibe and atmosphere. Lots of shops, cafes and volleyball nets on the beach if you bring your own ball.
S. O.
Lovely beach. It's always something interesting happening on weekends, like a Life Surf, swimming or beach volleyball competitions.
G. G.
I love the long walk along the beach in Manly, always an issue to find a parking spot, but it doesn't change how beautiful Manly is.
A. T.
The longer I live, the more beautiful life becomes. If you foolishly ignore beauty, you will soon find yourself without it. Your life will be impoverished. But if you invest in beauty, it will remain with you all the days of your life.

Manly beach is one of the best beaches in the world with a lot of activities & boat racing celebrating Australia Day .
P. B.
Great place. I loved ferry from circular quey to manly with nice view of opera house. I enjoyed walk from mainly to shelly beach. Also, l loved the view.
V. A. S.
Mostly ppl come for surfing. Dangerous current sign all along the beach which suggno swimming. Swimming suit or bikini for kids are not sold along the main street leading to the beach.... Get off from ferry (from Circular quay), only less then 10 minutes walk to the beach
K. R.
One of my favourite beaches in Sydney! Great atmosphere, big beach, much space, and beautiful with the trees behind!
R. H.
One of the top spots in Sydney, great beach and esplanade with plenty of good restaurants and cafes, easy access from Circular Quay by fast ferry service.
O. D.
Besides Bondi, this is another famous beach in Sydney. Very easily reached by ferry from Circural Quay. Along the beach is full of places which has a nice view of the ocean.
D. L.
7 miles from Sydney, 1000 miles from care. Lively long ocean surf beach. ('Manly Beach', is divided into three parts: South Steyne - Nth Steyne - Queensie.) You can also walk a little windy path around to Shelly Beach, which is calm and rather like a little Mediterranean cove. On the way to Shelly you will more than likely see water dragons (lizards). 🦎 Enjoy!
J. d. P. (. A. H.
Nice beach for activities, unfortunately no shading on the beach. Little playground for the kids, also very little shading. But massive beach, clean and lovely.
P.
Its Manly. Its the best beach in all of Sydney. It used to be that the rich fools would go to Bondi. Back then they didn't realise how much of a dump Bondi was (and still is). Alas, they've finally woken up and now everyone knows Manly is the best.
J. A.
One of the best beaches in Sydney. Great for surfers and families alike. There are shops and ferries nearby.
A. M.
Always loved Manly beach! Bus accesible, ferry, shops, restaurants, cafes and pubs around corso.
F. F. C.

Great beach, better than crowded Bondi. Get there with the ferry leaving from the wharfs just in front of Circular Quay station.

Beautiful big beach. Definitely the largest in the Sydney area. Not sure how good the swimming is but perfect for surfers.
M. H.
One of the beaches in Sydney that you should visit especially if you enjoy playing volleyball.
M. R.

M. A.
What a experience is it to be in such a great beach!
A.
Came here as a tourist, and was amazed by the place. It gets crowdy during summer, but it is also he place to be. Also You can learn how to surf here. There are few surf schools over here.
A.
Cute little place with lovely people
A walk thru beach is must
A day spent is worth here

D. G.
One of the best in town. Well worth a visit. Stroll along the promenade, grab a drink or lunch in one of the many nearby eateries and watch the world go by.
D. G.
Great beach to sunbake or swim. Can get busy on weekends. Nearby shops for food and drinks. Parking can be an issue on weekends
