This is one of the highlight of our trip to Nelson Bay! Nice cold beer, live music on a sunny deck, very tasty pizza. Also a large spacious lawn for kids to run around or if you want to have picnic you are most welcome! Their donuts are one of the best we ever had! Earl Grey favour is not easy to find elsewhere. They are not too sweet which is just right for us!

One of the nicest things to do in Port Stephens area, we often make a visit. Great vibe, nice food & awesome when you get some live music as well. Aim to get here early on weekends as they often sell out of the grill options. Love the beer, especially pale ales, it’s a pity you don’t find them all that often in Sydney. Great spot for the kids as well.

We went there during Christmas, they were closed so we went there next day. We wanted to experience a wine tasting, so they sent us to Tracy. She made it an experience to remember! We have never tasted such fine wine this place offers. The place was super busy but Tracy was was very patient with us even when we asked to taste the particular wine again to make sure it’s what we wanted before buying. Someone give this women a rise! I would definitely comeback just to get their home wines!

Lovely setting but the menu is totally different to what they have online. No seafood pizza, no tacos, no bowls. GF pizza was quite good, although the cheese wasn’t amazing quality. Shame about the salad, it was more like bacon and cheese with rocket on the side. With local, fresh produce available in the region I’m surprised they didn’t have any healthier options.

We are local residents of Port Stephens and love the ambiance of Murray’s Brewery. Great day out with the kids! However, the cost of this plate of food, with the weekend surcharge was over $90, served on a plastic tray. Very underwhelming!

Rating: 9/10 Short review: Food was nice, service was great, grounds were amazing. Long review: The Murray’s Brewery is an amazing place whether your looking for a beer, wine, or a 3 course meal. The service is amazing, but you have to get the food and order it yourself at your table which was Ho early easier than getting a waiter/waitress to order for you. On the grounds, there is a winery, a bar, and much more. Overall, whether you are looking for a nice meal, or just looking for a nice area to walk around, this would be my recommendation if your close. HOWEVER, I would not recommend taking a hour drive just to visit this place.

What a great atmosphere! We went over the Easter long weekend. It was extremely busy but staff in the restaurant were all doing their best to keep up with the demand. We also did a wine tasting as the bar indoors. We were served by a man called Daniel. He was extremely knowledgeable and made us feel welcome despite how busy it was in store. He was the only staff member at the bar, and with the busyness of the long weekend there should have been more staff available. He told us all about the different styles and how they are all made differently. We would go back again, just to be served by him! Made the whole experience worthwhile.

It is a nice venue, family friendly and really friendly staff. The beer is refreshing. However they do need to change their menu. The food is ok but does not offer a lot of choice. You have to order the food using your mobile phone and a QR code which I thought was not really friendly. It is a place worth a visit but there is nothing that makes you go back a second time. The place has lot of potential and possibilities, just not used the right way.

What an amazing place! Visited this afternoon with my friend. Both from Canberra. Firstly, those pizzas are a amazing. Second, the beer is phenomenal. I wish I wasn’t driving so I could have had more. Lastly, The staff took excellent care of us! We ended up buying some beers for our camping trip and even a bottle of their liqueur. Would love to come back!

Fantastic looking venue with heaps of outdoor space! We popped in after quad biking for some food and really enjoyed the vibe. In particular the gift shop had a huge range of products to take home, especially if you’re not stopping for long and don’t have time to do a tasting. If your coming for the beers and atmosphere this place is awesome. I bought the brisket platter as I love smoked meat, and tbh I only finished it because it was $45 the best part of the dish was the corn and even that was average. Not sure if they even cooked the brisket on the smoker but it was well and truly over cooked, no flavour besides the meat and looked like it had be sitting for days. Such a shame at a place which has such a great vibe and beers. Maybe get yourself someone who can actually cook barbecue.

We visited Murrays a few weeks ago on the Saturday and had a really good experience in your cellar door. I think his name was Daniel, he was very informative with the wines he showed us and had a good sense of humor. He was busy as well serving ice creams to some small groups. Highly recommend. Craft beer enthusiast delight. First time for me. My partner loves this place. I was impressed just driving in with the ample parking. Walking in the first decision was where do we sit. After seeing the car parks filled with cars I was unnecessarily worried about not being served. There is under cover, a pavilion, a deck or picnic tables on the lawn. We chose the lawn under a gorgeous shady tree. The amenities were plentiful and clean. We were warned there was an hour wait on food. Nice to know that upfront. There was a gift shop to browse in or vineyards to walk through, so the hour went fast. We ordered the smoked platter. I was worried it wouldn’t be enough to share. Again, unnecessarily so. We couldn’t pick a meat that was a fav, it was all amazing. Beef Bbq ribs, brisket and pulled pork, served with crispy chips, pickles, milk bun and sauce. I think they missed our slaw, yet we didn’t need it. Finished the meal with an expresso martini. We then did the gin and liqueur tastings. YUM!! popcorn vodka, Christmas gin, musk liqueur ( to name a few) so unique and very tasty. We are not local yet will definitely be back.

Murray’s brewery has an amazing selection of craft beers. Their little gift shop also allows for great present ideas for all occasions. This is a great place for gift ideas but also to enjoy a nice family friendly Sunday with a beverage.

Positive first - Nice spot / Appealing set up. Unfortunately the wine tasting experience was not pleasant. The Murray Brewery Wine Sales Attendant was abrupt, rude & he had no idea what the wine prices were - providing us with two significantly wrong prices on the wine we liked (perhaps he was experiencing a bad day). My improvement suggestion - Murray Brewery need to conveniently display available wines (etc) and relevant prices. An easy to read overhead chalk board or menu / handout with available products and prices, would be a big improvement. Leaving customers to deal fully with a grumpy / ill informed Sales Attendant is not an ideal arrangement.

WOW!!! Restaurant William pop up Sfida, absolutely sensational. The food is definitely 5 star and Ashley’s service and wine knowledge is amazing. Not what you would expect in the bay. First of all I like the place surrounds nature and its beauty. Brewery contains a lot of stuffs to try and taste. They serves varieties of Beers, Wines, Vodka and Gin. We had Beer and wine with Vegan Pizza and Beer Battered Potato chips. Everything was great in quality and taste. Must visit place in Nelson bay, since it is on the way.

I want to leave 2 ratings for 2 separate parts of this business. I'll give 1 star to the shop and attendant, when we were asked "what can we do for you?" I said "I'd like to learn everything about your Gin" its a rainy Friday and most of the outdoor attractions in the area aren't enjoyable so a distillery would be great fun. The attendant pulled out a few bottles of gin and gave us a tasting. The attendant admitted they were more into wine than gin and offered very little insight into the different drinks nor made any attempt to make the tasting fun or interesting. Instead I was given 3 drinks to quickly put away, without an offer of any water, before getting asked "so which one do ya wanna buy?" I wasn't enjoying myself and trying to make the tasting more enjoyable through conversation with the staff was like pulling teeth, the attendant just wanted to tell me about how he hasn't been paid and that management is questionable. To be honest, I don't care, I just want to learn about distilling. Begrudgingly I purchased a drink and a hat and we were gestured out. This all happened in the space of 15 minutes. The weather is rubbish I wanted to write off more time than that. I asked someone setting up the restaurant for an event if there was any information or tours on this distillery or brewery, promptly they came back with information directing us up to the distillery to meet with someone. This is where the 5 stars comes to play for this rating. The distiller was awesome, they were entertaining and had so much information to share. They discussed the difference between the drinks we tasted earlier as well as showing us the process of making them and what makes them special this made me feel more comfortable with buying the bottle earlier. The distiller was very creative and passionate and answered every question we could throw at them including the dumb ones. We spent nearly an hour up there and time flew out the window because we had so much fun. I'm not telling anyone how to run their business but the front of house staff could learn a lot from the distillery crew. Not just about the drinks but also about customer experience.

Beautiful atmosphere and a great meeting place for family luncheons. Lots of seating and outdoor area for the little ones to run around and play while mum and dad have a drink and catch up with friends. We had a delicious, juicy burger and perfectly cooked pork ribs. There was also live music.

Pros: The food was good and the beer selection was amazing. They make sure only vaccinated people enter. The atmosphere is great. Cons: everything is way overpriced! The burgers are small, the “bucket” of prawns is a bowl of prawns for $38. The “ maple bacon “ chips are just plain chips in a small cup for $9.

Great location, great atmosphere for adults and kids live band, nice drinks, beautiful food. Very casual but beautiful surrounded by vineyards, you sure can find a nice quiet spot to enjoy a local wine or beer and chill. I would certainly be coming back and recommend the place. Sublime on a sunny afternoon.. Amazing selection of beers on tap. (My favourite was the puff pastry stout which is one of the best stouts I've had!) Let down by the ordering system. Which at first I thought was really cool. (QR and order from your phone). However an hour later the estimated wait time kept creeping up and indicated another 35 mins! After checking with the staff they were very apologetic and apparently there was an issue with the pizza oven and my meal was quickly put together and served up.. I was also told they were out of prawns and had to sub for oysters. I wasn't too fussed and Understand these things happen.. Some other notes: - Beef rib was tough and impossible to cut with the disposable wooden cutlery! - Kids pizza a huge 👎barely cooked and really a disgrace to let that come out of your kitchen. My starving kid wouldn't eat it even with an extra donut for desert on offer! I usually dont get Soo deep on the detail but I think Murray's really need to do better. It's such a great concept and fantastic venue. I'll be back to give it another shot... Beers alone are a good enough reason!

Great location to take the family and enjoy brewery fresh beer. The recent renovations have expanded the seating capacity and the size of the cellar door and gift shop. There is expansive grassed areas for kids to play and wander up to the rows of grape vines. Tasting paddles are quite generous however they consist of the core range of beers and specialties cannot be included which is a shame.

WHAT a brilliant spot, after the fire they have rebuilt and built up a great atmosphere to bring a family or have a an event. open bars and grass areas covered with trees. A must go to if anyone loves craft beer and not overly priced. Needed to open up the 2nd bar as 300+ people trying to lineup for drinks 25min wait.

Wow last time I was here was over 10 years ago and it was only a winery, the venue abc atmosphere is excellent, the beer was great, we ordered food through the ME&U app, 40 minutes later I had to ask where our order was, it was ready but no notification. (they should rename the app ME&FU)We started eating our pizza and realised there was no Parma on the pizza, they gladly made another one with lots of toppings. The app is not great, lots of items on the menu were unavailable and there is no option to order direct from the kitchen.

Just tried the new menu here today for and lunch and wow what an amazing improvement (the last menu was good too). The portion sizes are massive and food is tasty to boot. Murrays now have reopened their new facility and it looks fantastic, I really like the new styling much better and bigger than the last facility which burnt down a few years ago. For meals we had two entrees and two mains. Entrees where spicy jerk chicken wings and pork belly bites both where delicious however the chicken wings are not too hot (fairly mild). The mains where pork ribs and king salmon salad. These where great the salmon was cooked nicely and salad was yum. The ribs where bloody massive and chips are really nice. This is one of the best places to eat in Port Stephens and the service was really good ex specially as we arrived after they had 250 day tourists having lunch here and I am sure they would have been tired but they all seemed relaxed and friendly chatting to the clientele as they moved around. Murrays please keep this menu and standards we have come to love. Great job.

We have dined there a number of times and the standard of food is as high as it can be. Great staff who make you feel welcome. The quantities are huge and exceptional value for money. Well cooked and full of flavour, the food has to be experienced to appreciate how good it is. Murray's has to be one of the best eateries in the Port Stephens area and never disappoints. Plenty of close parking and the added novelty of a take away bottle shop with great products such as "Celtic Cream" which is similar to, but better than Baileys. There are also plenty of novelty beers that are worth trying. Give it a go and you will be pleased you did. I keep going back because I am very impressed. We returned for a late lunch today (24th November) and the quality is still superb. The staff are exceptional, especially Tracey) They are currently reviewing their menu and streamlining their ordering procedures using a smart phone app. I hope they will also consider the elderly (like me) and still produce some hard copy menus. Great food, great atmosphere. I trust they will not try to get too scientific. I later sent an email to Murray's making personal application for them to produce a hard copy menu (even if it is only for the meals they only prepare on a constant basis) but I received no reply. I take that as a NO.

Murray's brewery is located about 2 hours north of Sydney in a quiet place called Port Stephen. Murray and the team have been brewing unique and off-beat naturally crafted beers since 2006, and in the process have won a bunch of awards and accolades – including Australia's Brewer of the Year.⠀ ⠀ I chanced upon this place on the way to Sydney on my road trip and stopped to find the perfect little beer garden with amazing food, live music and some outstanding beer!⠀ ⠀ I had the original Fred burger which was pulled smoked beef brisket with double cheese and chipotle mayo sauce. The meat was succulent and the smoky flavour made it delicious! The BBQ ribs were absolutely fabulous as well, meat so tender it was falling if the bone. Yummmm!⠀

Beautiful gardens, great beer and decent food. But... the place is very popular and this wasn't managed too well. We waited over 1.5 hours for pizza, as did most of our friends. The queues are absolutely crazy. It's good to see them making money, but they should really manage the crowds and food orders better. We thought we'd done the right thing by booking a table, but that didn't give us much of an advantage. The poor staff looked frazzled, they deserve a bonus.

Probably the best birthday present. Lunch at Murray's a couple of beers and then driven on to my next destination! Covid check-in was painless and then finding our table in the distillery section was easy. Ribs and brisket ordered. Both were amazing. Beautifully cooked and meltingly soft. Good sides in the chips, slaw and milk bun. Drinks consisted of the Navel Gazing (amazing), Fred, XPA and the more Navel Gazing. After levering myself off the table, I waddled back to the bar to pick up a couple of crowlers of the Navel then to the shop for some XPA and a quite remarkable Gardenia. What a great birthday!

Wow! We had an amazing lunch here. The pizza and BBQ plates were delicious! The food came out fast and was fresh and tasty. Plenty of outdoor seating with umbrella's for shade. The brewery itself has a great selection to choose from, the Necta Bomb was really refreshing. Also went home with a delicious liqueur. Will be recommending to everyone!

Outdoor venue (no A/C) but always a lovely spot to pop in! Lovely atmosphere, nice food, good beer, great cider!!! Live local music on the weekend, and plenty of space to spread out, even though it's a tourist hotspot. The "beer tapologists" are always friendly and knowledgeable - highly recommend the "Beer Sampler" of 4 different brews of your choice... plenty to choose from for all tastes. We always enjoy our impromptu visits - so relaxed and laidback - just what you need on the weekend.

Would give 6 stars if I could. We each had a burger, I had the southern fried chicken and my wife had the beef. Both were fresh and full of flavour. Chips were equally as delicious. Also shared the Rudeboy chicken pizza. Was way to much food but pushed through and finished it all after giving it time. I had the sampler with 4 different types of beers, all satisfying but couldn't tell you what they were. Only downfall was that we didn't make a booking which meant we had to sit up on the hill. Lovely spot but had some wind. My opinion, Murray's Brewery is a must go.

I'd recommend getting a table outside if the weather is ok. The BBQ food we had was really nice and of course there is plenty of great beer to choose from. And if 2021 turns out to suck as much as 2020 (thanks covid) then at least we started the year with two great meals!! Murray's is absolutely the perfect wedding venue. The venue looked so stunning on the day with our ceremony among the vines, and our reception a rustic style, lit up with fairy lights. The food was amazing!!! This was so important to us, being 'foodies'. The chefs helped us customise a menu for shared food and our guests are still raving about it. From start to finish Murray's were so accommodating and flexible to give us exactly what we wanted for our wedding day. Everything we needed was included, but it was also easy to add decorations and hire furniture for the extras that we wanted. The staff on the day were a dream. We felt so welcomed and they were so helpful. It felt like Murray's were excited for us and that they wanted us to have the best day. On top of all of this, the wedding was great value. If you are thinking about having your wedding at Murray's, do it. They made our day unforgettable <3

As a craft beer enthusiast, I think Murray's beers off their taps are well balanced. No OTT bitterness in favour of aroma and Murray's are not scared of highly attenuating yeasts. Venue is huge and the smoked brisket is so good that the additional bacon on their signature burger seems unnecessary. I'm not a local but I will be back

Went here yesterday and I cannot express how impressed I was. The atmosphere was immediately fun, relaxed, and happy. The service is EXTREMELY fast especially the food. You can order draught beers, bottles, and cocktails and for food they have BBQ and Pizza. I am not typically someone who is a big fan of meat in general (especially meat on the bone) but I ordered the wings and tried one of the ribs and it was literally the best wings and ribs I have EVER EATEN IN MY LIFE! The fries&chips were delicious as well as the cheeseburger spring rolls. I also tasted a cheeseburger with cheese sauce and that was quite tasty too! For beers I ordered the summer blood orange and the key lime beers and both were quite flavorful with not any bitterness. Overall this haa got to be the best place I have ever been to (as long as I can remember). I met Murray and got the opportunity to shake his hand, very nice and humble. He was serving beers and bussing tables like the rest of his staff. MURRAY - Thank you so much for providing me such an incredible dining/drinking experience! I'll never forget it!

I hadn't been here since the rebuild. A very busy place on a public holiday Sunday, but everyone is happy and the music is vibrant. Lots of tourist buses come through, so the shop/tasting area is humming. But it's very easy to get a free gin and vodka tasting (which is a rare thing). Having the bar out in the courtyard is a sensible choice. Murray's beer is excellent. I had a pint of the Wild Thing imperial stout, which coming in at 10% means four standard drinks in one. Took away some aged Anniversary Ale (a Barley Wine), and some Thunderbolt IPA. Excellent stuff.

The person behind the bar didn’t know what we were talking about and ended up just giving us the watermelon beer even though the special was being advertised at the bar. Would go again hoping for better service.

I absolutely love this place. Every time I go there I feel like I've died and gone to beer heaven. Every beer I have had there tastes absolutely brilliant. I can't get over their extremely broad range. Make sure that you purchase one if not more of their beer flagons to take home. You definitely won't regret it. I think that their meal menu is really great. I've ordered the Angry Man pizza several times and I've loved it each and every time. They also have available to purchase a number of their beers in display packages to make them look heaps flash. There is available smaller cartons of their beer in different varieties to enjoy at home when you're not at Murray's. I'd rather just go to Murray's anyway. Excellent beer, excellent food. What more could you want? There is also an amazing selection of souvenirs available. Everything from books to t-shirts. Murray's has got all bases covered. Next time you're in Port Stephens put aside plenty of time to visit Murray's Brewery. I guarantee you won't regret it.

Firstly I love the beer and the place as a Brewery. This review is for the restaurant. I can only comment on the experience we had. The staff were lovely and polite. The meal was over priced and of a standard I would not expect from Murrays! My wife and I got the pork roles with chips. Both of us were very disappointed. The roll and fries were great. However the pork was very dry and chewy. There was a tinyamount of salad with the pork that didn't add to the taste or help with the dryness. I have had better from Subway at half the cost! My daughter had a juice. The glass had not been washed, it was dirty inside and had lipstick on it! So not a pleasant dining experience.

Was here on Australia Day. We called in advance for a shuttle to pick up and drop off in Nelson Bay. Thumbs up for this service as it meant both of us could have a drink. The place was very busy. It's quite large and has an open grassy area were the kids can be free and run around. The food was delicious and portion sizes are huge. Smoky bbq Pork ribs and beer battered chips went down very well with the paddle of beers. Murray's should consider changing this as the glass sizes are quite large at 200ml which makes them a little less than a midi. The selection was the usual pale ale, larger, ipa and darker beers. It would be good to make the samples smaller & include some of the fruity variety that you wouldn't generrally pick. Or have 2 seperate samples. This place isn't just for beer lovers as there is wine and port sampling to enjoy. Overall a great day. Great venue. Friendly and helpful staff. It's a defo highlight of Port Stephens.

The tour is short, but sweet. A tasting is not included in tour price, but the tour only costs $10. There is a tasting available, I think it was $20-something for 5-6 200ml beers. I tried the Pumpkin beer, it was fantastic!! My fiancé tried Angry Man, and really enjoyed it as well. It's located on a gorgeous piece of property. Would have loved to spend the whole day there! They do provide shuttles in and out of town, for a small cost (tour is include with the cost).

We called in to the "brewery" expecting a typical brewery – a shed with a front counter serving a few beers. But there was so much more. A brewery, a winery, a distillery and a restaurant! With a massive outdoor deck with tables and umbrellas, and drinks sold indoors or at an outdoor bar, it's a beautiful location to enjoy a beer while looking at the nearby orchard and countryside. There are complaints that it's too busy. Places that are good DO get busy; it's the quiet venues a person should be cautious about . . . WHY is it quiet? We'll certainly be back!
