I've been recommended this place multiple times and finally going I'm not sure what all the fuss is. The drinks are ordinary and the music is so loud you can't even comprehend what anyone says, which makes ordering anything a major hassle. Aside from that, it wasn't bad but it could definitely improve, the bouncers however were friendly and helpful.

Happy hour is great, $5 drinks from 4-8pm. Staff were friendly and attentive, one guy came over to our table to ask how our cocktail was and if we enjoyed it - nice to see that the staff actually care about the quality of their drinks

Side bar has to be one of the best venues I've experienced around Sydney, a great vibe with awesome DJ's. From the moment you line up the security make you feel at home, service with a smile and a good sense of humour. Look out for the guard Moe, he's surely the best of the bunch. Moving on to downstairs the atmosphere is lively, the venue is clean, the lights are fancy too! The service at the bar was top notch! Quick, cheap and with a smile keeping me feeling welcome. The cocktail buckets are to die for! They have a range of different flavours that hit the spot!! Overall this is a venue that must be experience when in Sydney!! I had a blast, me and my friends will definitely be back again :)

Was quite a fan of this bar, the staff were nice and it had a nice atmosphere. The drinks were very reasonable priced and all the food menu items were $10, which is really good for a bar in Sydney. The location is pretty good too, very close to central train station, and within walking distance of a lot of hotels around. I can't comment on what the events they hold are like, as I left before it had started. It looks and sounds like lots of people go to here for drinks.

Bryan was so friendly and accomodating along with the rest of the staff. Highly recommend the cocktail buckets especially the side bar slammer. Only problem was not enough Pop Smoke 😂

Side bar is a correct choice, whether you can talk or dance, the mood gives you both options. It's not the best place, but it worth it.

I've been there a handful of times in the last week as I'm staying in the backpackers. The vibe is nice and chill during the week, they have cheap meals and a good happy hour. However the staff are very unorganised, don't seem to know what they're doing or what is going on. Waited for food for 1.5 hours on a Monday, asked staff for an update, and they looked lost. I've worked in hospo for 7 years and seeing staff that don't know what's going on is disappointing. They had prize giveaways yesterday and when I went to redeem a bar tab they told me I could not, saying they needed to find the manager but never even tried. My expectations from now on won't be high. Shame as it could be good with better staff.

I really enjoyed this bar. We went there quite early on a Monday night so it was very quiet people wise which I prefer. They has some music playing with lights which was nice. The cocktails were delicious. I highly recommend the nuclear reactor, it was amazing! The prices were a little higher than expecting but the cocktails were in a bucket! Very generous portion size. The food was also very affordable as well at around $10 per item. I ordered the pepperoni pizza which I throughly enjoyed. Highly recommended visiting.

The crowd was pretty good on a Thursday night, because there was no entry charge on that particular day. The music was alright and was known to the public for them to be able to grove, but the DJ did a pretty bad job at mixing and the drops were terrible. The bartenders were very prompt and courteous. I had a good time at this bar, it was full of international students so people my age, good crowd and a lot of cute girls. I rode the bull and danced to some throwback music (maybe cause it was the 4th of July) and I got a free beer cause I was American. Not super nice but great and fun. Lines can get long outside so I’d recommend to get there early 9-10 ish.

Side Bar is a great night out for someone on a budget. The food is cheap and there is a special meal on every night for $8. One night a week there is a free barbeque outside the bar. There are always deals on the drinks and on some nights you can even get free wine. It is a great place for travellers to meet fellow travellers. The atmosphere is great and the staff are really friendly.

Overcrowded, Overpriced, Long lines, music is so so, some rnb top hits, then a mash of house, trap and whatever kids listen to these days. Good luck coming here with a group, you'll have a hard time finding a place to sit, dance and drink together.

Sidebar is hands down the best place to party in Sydney! No pressure to go over the top with dressing uncomfortably, while getting a good deal on all your drinks. Happy hours prices are the best I've seen in the whole city. Looks for a chill time to grab a beer with some love music? they do that. Hungry? I had the best burger of my life there. Looking to party hard and dance the night away with your friends? they do that too. Basically, when in doubt...sidebar!

This place is the king of cheap! If you're a backpacker looking for a good night, head over to side bar! I initially walked in and was fully unimpressed, however after every drink the dj magically improved, the boys & girls got more attractive. After 8 drinks I was suddenly having the time of my life with some of the most attractive people I've ever seen. The next morning I was full of regret, but when I looked at my bank account, I was pleasantly surprised that I didn't spend to much. Again cheap & fun!

If you're living in the wakeup hostel the side bar is a very good club. Otherwise it's very cheap. It can be a bit overcrowded sometimes because it's a small club but it's still a good club !

A great place to go if you are on a budget, but not somewhere I would recommend going every weekend. Monday is a good day to go on as entry is free and there is a good mixture of music, from rnb to chart. The venue is quite small but if you are with a large group of people it means you can all be together.

It's an interesting environment here-we went earlier, so it wasn't crowded but more people were coming in as the night progressed. There is a screen with music videos playing, the bar is in the centre and there is seating along the sides. An interesting type of bar but still a fun place.

While I do enjoy the night life. From traveling the world and seeing what a great night life is, side bar does need to work on its music transitions.They go from a slow song to an aggressive one and back in about 2 seconds. It's not the best.

This is a great place for all backpackers to meet on their travels. In peak season it is packed and is a quality night. Drinks are not the cheapest but good for meeting people and if you stay in the hostel above...no taxi fares!

Theme Parties are never as expected, we went to the Octoberfest party - there was no Octoberfest music, just the staff was dressed like Bavarians. We also went to the 90/00 Party - most of the songs weren't from the decade of the 90 or even 00, it was really disappointing.

Let's just put it that way: It serves its purpose. If you are a backpacker, great, go there, you'll feel right at home. But the fact is, the music is terrible, there is no real atmosphere to speak of, and the drinks are just there to fill you up (although of course, being drunk is not allowed either......).. this being said, in my young years I had a few good nights there. Maybe leave this for a monday evening when nothing else is open.

However, the drinks are cheap and it's right across the street from a University, so there's always something going on. Overall, if you are trying to find some place to go some random night, check out Side Bar.

One of the best for the international students in sydney. Underground, located just a short walk from central station, good choices of beers and foods and preety good staffs as I experienced. The annoying fact is they charged 10$ on weekends where yoh can have free entrance in many bars around here. Or else its preety good place to spend time, dance and party

This is a spillover from Scubar, so the crowd is a little rowdy. Drink prices are a little above average, so pre-gaming would be a good idea if you're heading here. The dance floor was really full, but it was hard to meet new people due to the volume of the music. Overall it's okay, but not my first choice.

This club is close to the Central Railway Station. It has a good entertainment spread every day of the week. The acoustic night on a Tuesday, the guest DJ on a Wednesday and bangers on a Saturday are some of my favourite days.
