Nice dog friendly hotel! We alway come here! Very nice atmosphere, HOWEVER, I couldn’t give them 5 star because second time we came here and it is full of kids, like going to a kindergarten! We came for a nice quiet Sunday with their very nice live music, but kids all over the place and noisy! I would give them 1 star if I didn’t like the place! Kids claiming the trees, jumping off the stairs and screaming ????!!!! So annoying!

Great local with a good range of regular and craft beers, wines and spirits. The tiki cabana was a great spot for our private party and the food was fantastic - the grazing board kept us going for hours and the bakers platter, with a selection of pies, quiches and awesome pork sausage rolls was just what we needed. Highly recommend this venue for parties, local sessions or just a cheeky drink.

The fried chicken there is so amazing. Such a good menu! You can get 1kg of all the flavours for $30! Such a hit! They do gender bender bingo on Wednesday nights too which is so fun! Great outdoor beer garden too. Really good local, would recommend to everyone.

We attended the Balmain Hotel on the weekend and had another terrific experience down there. The food is always good, the atmosphere is fun and the staff are very pleasant and accommodating. Great atmosphere, very friendly bar nd kitchen staff, and delicious menu range. Best of all is that dogs are welcome, even in the indoor dining area! What a brilliant move by the owner to let our furry loved ones come inside. We will definitely visit again with our Cavoodle and Staffy!

Had a pleasant lunch at the Balmain hotel last weekend. The food was tasty and staff friendly. I was very happy that they allowed our dog to sit inside as the weather was not the best ☺️ The only small issue was that dogs are only allowed in the back pub area and not the main restaurant, which is fine, except the tables in the pub part are not very comfortable. If there were some normal tables and chairs instead of just high tops and bar stools I probably would have stayed there all afternoon!

Such a lovely local pub! We like the staff and vibe there - feel like it’s a friendly and accommodating place. My only suggestion is that whilst COVID is ongoing, please make sure you regularly wipe down the baby change table as that was quiet dirty a few times. Other than that keep up the awesome vibe

One of my favourite pubs in Sydney. Great vibe- lovely staff- amazing food! Must try the chicken wing platter- its mouth wateringly good. And it’s really well priced- some good cheap eats.

This was a company event. Overall staff was very kind. Service was super quick. It is broken up in sections, which makes it seem small and large at the same time. Just another Merivale pub... ho hum in terms of atmosphere and a cookie cutter decor, that we’ve all grown accustomed to. Not bad for a decent meal and the beer garden is okay, nothing to write home about though. With so many pubs in Balmain and Rozelle, it seems about middle of the list.

A fine stopping point on a Balmain pub crawl, but if you're just going to one pub then there are better options in the area.

Went there on a Friday night for dinner and it was quiet. The Superfood salad with Halloumi and the Arancini was fantastic - so compliments to the kitchen staff! It wasn't quite a combination on the menu, but they accommodated. The service was ok (nothing to write home about), and perhaps because it was quiet the staff were bored (?). We were then hurried to finish our wine, being the last remaining guests. A solid local pub, where you will certainly have no problem hearing yourself/your friends talk!

Cosy pub away from busy Darling st. Friendly and smiling staff an added bonus. Food is nice only fault was the Buffalo wings we ordered was a bit oily but the bluecheese dip come with the wings was very good. Would like to go again to try the pizzas looks nice but we didn't try it this time.

Caught up with a friend over a late lunch last weekend. The bar staff was friend and the whole place had a pretty relaxed and casual setting. The food menu is pretty decent, with dishes listed in groups - steamed buns, burgers, little stuff (i.e. chicken wings, nachos, etc), healthy stuff, big stuff (fish & chips, steak, etc), sides and desserts.My BBQ pulled pork burger (pulled pork, slaw, Balmain BBQ sauce & mayo) was quite nice, it came with fries and two stripes of crackling which I thought was a nice touch. My friend didn't find the Balmain burger to be anything special and commented that mine looked much better. If I'm in the area again I'd go back and try some of their small dishes with a beer or two.

Fairly good place - they've really tried to do something bright and fun to what used to be a dingy pub. If you buy wine by the glass, it's served in a lovely stemless glass, but they're fairly conservative pours.

A caribbean courtyard out the back, a classic pub feel out the front and a dark bar underneath with beats supplied by a DJ. This feels like a new city bar but it is in fact a wonderful redesign of this classic Balmain pub. The food is well-priced, there's a good range of obscure spirits and a plethora of beers on tap. Spend the afternoon lunching in the courtyard, watch the footy out front and then dance the night away downstairs. It's quite the venue.

Can't go past their Tuesday Trivia with Neil. I have sampled many trivia nights in the area and this one is the clear winner! Coming weekly for trivia has allowed me to sample most of the menu; with my personal favourites including the fish burger and the beef & cheek pie. Menu is standard for a pub, with classics like steak, schnitzel and burgers. Cool and quirky decorations inside with a laid back vibe.
