The first time was excellent either cocktails or gin tonic. Friendly staff. I was there to try some drinks and didn't expect that much people but customers keep coming all night. It's a good place to relax and hang out.

I was looking for a cocktail bar on the main street, and after I realised it was closed, I saw some people walking down a dark alley, curious, I followed them.... And here I found a little closed back alley with the barber shop cocktail bar! Lucky me! - 1: the staff are cheerful and friendly 2: the ambiance and music is just right for a cocktail bar 3: every cocktail we had was superb. Will definitely come back 10/10

From the entrance, might ask yourself “where’s the bar? It’s just a barbershop”. But behind the hidden door, there’s a very cool bar, stacked with gins from all over the world. The vintage decor, the classic pieces of furniture, the amber lights, and the music, can take you back to the past. What should I order? Well, gin, of course, since it’s the speciality. But if you fancy a beer or a glass of wine, I’m not here to judge. The service is always attentive and friendly. What’s more? You’ll find the Japanese style eco-friendly toilets after a couple of drinks.

The entry via the closed Barber Shop is such a cool gimmick. I love it. It's like walking into Narnia. This is a lovely place to sit and enjoy a late night cocktail, especially if you're a fan of gin. The have an extensive gin menu and you can even get a gin flight of four different gins. I recommend the Zenith cocktail if you like zesty oranges. The Simon Says is tangy and quite floral tasting. I preferred the more citrusy ones though. They have table service and service is quick. We never waited long for a top-up or a new drink.

Stylish bar hidden behind a barber shop with a vast selection of Gins. One star taken off as their menu said their gin flights come with complimentary olives but none were served and when asked they said they need to safe olives for martinis. For the price you pay I would expect better planning

Absolutely great experience!! My family and I are from the Midwest US and we are huge cocktail fans, so this was a must visit given its award experience. I had incredibly high expectations coming in and I was worried about being disappointed. These guys did an extraordinary job and actually exceeded my expectations! Get the Australian Gin Flight if you are an international visitor. I also had the Barbershop Gimlet and I was blown away. Thanks for a great first night in Sydney!

The best speakeasy in Australia. Took me hours to find this bar. Well worth the effort when you have one of their G&T's, gin being their specialty. I used to come into the city to do the Aquathon at Andrew Boy Charlton pool and when finished came to the Barber Shop for a post run and swim G&T and then dinner in China town. My regular Thursday night routine. When you find it you will know it.

Went for a girls night on Saturday night. The place is very nice and quite spacious for a speakeasy. The service was excellent. The staff were very friendly and had excellent drink recommendations. They have a really nice variety of gin cocktails, something to suit everyone's taste. My favourites were the imperial fizz and the little sparrow. Will definitely be visiting again soon.

Visited this beautiful establishment yesterday with my partner for a few cocktails and a snack. Absolutely fantastic drinks with a huge gin selection and very tasty food. The way it is hidden through a barber shop just adds to the incredible experience and very very friendly staff.

May not be a big deal for some but the experience of going through a barber shop into an ambient pub felt really cool. Drinks, amazing selection of G&Ts along with a huge list of whiskey options. Can be a great place for a first date or just grabbing a drink with a buddy. Staff is very friendly and make sure they attend to everyone. We didn't have to wait for long. Has very few tables that can accommodate a group so that would require a booking for sure. Otherwise, 100% recommend this place.

Last night I discovered The barbershop by accident, it was such an amazing surprise. The Gin goblets to die for, the Espresso Martini were delicious. The vibe, the design the extensive menu was unique. The food..... I can not stop craving the truffle sauce that came with chips. But what made our experience the best was Liam, Alberto and Carina, their friendly service all night made for a memorable night. The staff really complete this venue and you have chosen the best. Thanks for making this a memorable experience in one of the hardest times through covid. I can't wait to come back.

What a cute little hidden gem! Some lovely (strong) cocktails and very attentive wait staff and the atmosphere was divine. I imagine would probably be very busy outside of covid/not on a Wednesday night but we had plenty of room, it wasn’t too loud and the drinks came very quickly! Would highly recommend the Killer Bees!

I really enjoyed my visit here. It's interesting, with a great selection of Gins, Whisky and blended drinks and cocktails made from them. I had a Grifter A sloe Gin and whisky with cardamom, fennel and Lemon. Really Nice. It has a really nice vibe and you can enter via the Barbershop at the front. A nice touch.

Happy with the drinks and the food, was all very high quality. What I wasn't happy with was the service. We were being a bit noisy, which is to be expected for a birthday on a Saturday night. If we were asked to just keep it down a bit, I would have given a five star rating. Instead, I was told that if we didn't keep it down, we were going to have a problem. After that, we were being constantly glared at by the waiters, and not given any further table service. We felt unwelcomed, and decided to leave shortly after. We spent $700 in that one night and, and probably more if we were treated with a bit more common courtesy.

Service was great to begin with (attentive table service, water refills) but was non existent once more patrons arrived (No table service, long wait at the bar, food order not delivered). I like the whole hidden bar thing. Very nice interior design however very dark and I usually have to use my phone torch to read the menu. Very busy on a Friday night and weekends. Sometimes hard to find a seat but always manage. Not a huge fan of gin but the bartenders listen when you tell them you want something sweet and fruity. Decent prices. Good vibe and atmosphere. Can get loud sometimes.

Nice gin bar hidden away either through the back of a Barbershop or through an alleyway just off Clarence Street. Plenty of good gin choices including Manchester Gin, and for those of you who are just after a beer, you are catered for too with a decent selection of bottles. Plenty of seating, smart decor and some good toilets. Not the be all and end all, but the toilets are good.

Went in to have a beard trim and was promptly greeted by staff who took care of me. The boys in there are all extremely friendly and deliver a professional service! The trim was excellent and being just a short walk from Wynyard Station it was worth the trip into town! I will definitely be back and recommend it to anyone!

This is an awesome barbershop! Cool atmosphere, quality haircuts and friendly staff. Not enough?? Well it’s only attached to one of the coolest gin bars in Sydney! Get your haircut then relax with a gin and tonic with a twist. The salon is quite small, 3/4 chairs, so booking is essential to avoid disappointment. The online website is straightforward and allows you to pick your date, time, service and stylist. I’ve personally had haircuts and wet shaves and can’t recommend them enough. It’s not easy to find somewhere that does a wet shave and does it well. I can honestly say it’s the best one I’ve ever had. The team here have great banter with each other which makes the whole experience fun. There’s a new barber shop now a Barangaroo which has only opened recently. I haven’t been there myself but I believe it has a few more chairs making it easier to get a booking. Try either place and I’m sure you’ll have a great experience.

We started with a long island and I casually sat in a ridiculously comfy arm chair whilst the hubby had his beard attended to. His beard trim was on point, flattering and the barber was friendly and actually came through the bar to retrieve hubby for his treatment. Very enjoyable experience

Great underground bar to go to hidden behind a front that operates as a barber shop during the day but go past the secret back door, and you will come into a lovely bar with great mood and great drinks. Perfect for a friday night but be early or you will not get seats easily!

The Barber shop is a small bar hidden behind a real shop that cuts hair, its a little bit hard to find at first, but that's all part of the fun. We were served by a waitress which was quite nice. Ordered Gin and juice but it did take quite a bit of time for it to arrive despite the bar being quite empty. Liked the music and the atmosphere though.

Great range of gins, and interesting cocktail menu. The service however is terrible. The floor staff tries really hard not to be seen and to take care of customers. The bartenders are quick but also don't seem to care too much about the customers, just pumping out drinks. Too bad that you forgot about the other half that comes with hospitality. Come here for a Gin and Tonic if you're after a special Gin. If that's not the case, then there are other bars with better service and good drinks all over the city.

The interior is quite dark though, but the surprising entrance evokes memories of Prohibition, and you somehow feel naughty drinking here. I was given a Balvenie 'Experience' gift voucher for Christmas which included a haircut, shave and cocktail in their bar. I'd never had a proper barber's shave before and I found it really relaxing. My haircut was top notch and the service from the team was excellent. And the cocktail?... Phenomenal!! The girls can have their day spas, facials, manicures and pedicures - The Barber Shop has tailored an experience for the guys which comes highly recommended from yours truly. Cool atmosphere but bartender I had didn't know what a gin gimlet was (not a big deal) but as soon as I listed out the ingredients for them claimed that wasn't a gimlet and asked if I wanted "my" gimlet or a real gimlet. To avoid any further conflict I said I'd be happy to take their real gimlet to which I was served gin with that fake lime juice stuff. I learned my lesson and now stick to gin and tonics

This is one of my favourite small bars in the city. One of my favourite things about this place is that it is quite spacious for a small bar- means there's ample room to move (even when its completely packed out). They also feature live entertainment on a school night which is often really lovely especially when theres a small jazz bar playing. The ginger infused cocktail is a must try here!

A security guard standing outside a barber shop is the first thing you see, once your ID is checked you walk through a barbershop and through a couple of doors into a great cocktail bar. Great whisky and gin selection. The Barber Shops spin on a Espresso Martini is a must try!

It's enchanting experience to walk with purpose through an operational barbershop and slide open the heavy metal door to a dark wood candlelit bar. Having set the mood, the Barber Shop also offers an extensive menu of gins and genever cocktails. I tried the Marguerite, which is twist on a martini, was an especial fan of Holland's Razor Blade, using Bols genevet and the King of Persia, which was a richer style of drink.

This is my go to Sydney CBD bar. Great for after-work drinks, usually buzzing but typically you'll be able to find somewhere to sit. Good house red and great whiskey mixes. Generally interesting and nice bar staff who are happy to help you out. Jazz nights on Thursdays. Have a nice outdoor space across the way from Baxters, which can be nice on a hot summer evening.

Pretty cool bar and concept with the barber shop up front and the bar at the back. Came here when I couldn't get a seat in the baxters inn. Good range of cocktails and drinks. Only thing I didn't get was that a friend had gotten there earlier to hold some seats for a fair few of us. By the time we got there we were told they were at capacity and we had to wait outside in line. This is despite the fact that my friend had 6 empty seats at the table he was holding, and they still wouldn't let us in. Very silly, as my friend ending up sitting there by himself for at least half an hour while we were outside in the queue.

We accidentally stumbled into this place under the misconception that it was Baxters Inn - but we are glad we did! It was quite male dominated (after all, it is an actual barber shop!) but gave off a relaxed vibe. I went for the gin and grapefruit juice, which was my favourite drink of the night. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. I get the feeling that a place like this would be packed on the weekend, so glad I went on a Wednesday!

Jimmy De Jesus is the Beard God! Just had a trim from Jimmy on my full beard and he did a magic job. He listened to what I wanted and communicated what he was doing throughout the process. On top of that he's a really nice bloke that remembers his repeat customers. Highly recommended to my Bearded Brethren.

I've had both a beard trim and a hair cut and though great guys, the cuts weren't to the standard Sydney needs in a Barber Shop. Great young hipster team and a beer offered at 2.30pm, but I would prefer the cuts of a quality I would go back for.
