Comments of The Belvedere Hotel
M. S.
rather than wait for someone on Town Hall steps this is a great place to just watch out the window around the corner from the Town Hall, and sip on a beer. Happy Hour between 4 and 6pm.
Y. A.
Amazing food. Highly recommend this place. The menu is not big but everything was freshly made and delicious. The moussaka was great for 2.
A. L.
My partner and I always love coming here. The staff are friendly, it’s quiet and relaxing and the food is delicious.
The Greek fries are very yummy and if you have the appetite for it, the 1kg snapper for 2 is definitely worth trying.
We even got a free ouzo at the end of our meal this time! We’ll be back again for sure.

I've walked past The Belvedere Hotel (near Town Hall) countless times and can't believe I didn't know about this restaurant sooner!! Located on the second floor, upstairs from the pub, Greek at The Belvedere serves some of the most delicious and authentic Greek food that I've had in a long time. Chef Stegios and the team are so incredibly warm and welcoming, it's like dining with family.
We start with the meze plate, laden with beef keftedes (meatballs), calamari, fresh tzatziki and olives alongside two beautiful dips served with warm pita bread. My favourite is the taramasalata – a dip made of white cod roe with onion, lemon juice and olive oil.
Then, there was the Saganaki Kefalograviera (cheese) – quite possibly my favourite dish of the night. Crisp and golden on the outside, warm and gooey on the inside, the salty bite of cheese was perfectly contrasted with sweet honey, a touch of lemon and crushed pistachios. A must-try!
For mains, I'd highly recommend the slow-roasted lamb shoulder, which is impossibly juicy tender, you can pull it apart with a spoon. Served with lemony potatoes and vegetables + tzatziki which is perfect to cut through the rich lamb.
I'd also highly recommend the moussaka!! Perfect for sharing and I love that creamy bechamel sauce – yum!
For dessert, the galaktoboureko (Greek custard slice wrapped in filo) with baklava ice cream and cinnamon syrup is hard to go by.
Wonderful food and service – I'll be back for sure!

Worth a visit to this little upstairs gem. 3 of us ate well for a nice lunch ordering all the specials from the board. Has lift access and happily accommodated our pram. Will return!
A. S. D.
Go to the 3rd level where the rooftop is. We were surprise that there is a hidden, cozy place at the top of this hotel. Perfect place to catch up with friends - it was quiet. The ground level is livelier with late night live music playing.
S. L.
Such a feast! Everything we ate was delicious - flavorful and aromatic. Very fast service, but never felt rushed in anyway. Probably the combination of a really efficient kitchen and our decision to eat a bit early.
G. C.
A couple friends of mine highly recommended this restaurant, so we decided to go and try it out. The food & wine was delicious. "A taste of Greece". The fish was well cooked "Telio" (in Greek) and those potato chips... they were the best i have ever eaten & then the sides topped it off. And don't forget that wine! A rare breed!
Stergios was also very friendly and welcoming. Will definitely go back for seconds :)
A. L.
The team at Greek at the belvedere are one of the nicest I've met! Chef stergios has done a beautiful job with his food, authentic greek food in the heart of the CBD. Your tastebuds will definitely take a trip back to the greek islands.
I loved the mezze to start and of course it wouldnt be a party without that ouzo 😜 Favourites from the meze were definitely the beef keftedes, karamosolata (pink dip), tzatziki and the cheesey bread called kefalograviera.
Then came the mains, slow cooked lamb shoulder is always a good idea! Chef stergios pairs this with potatoes and a delicious yogurt sauce, the lamb cutlets were also a favourite of mine. Lamb cooked well and seasoned well is amazing and this one is served with lima beans and a tomato sauce.
You have to try the Mousaka, a delicious beef mince, eggplant & potatoes topped with a beschamel sauce 👌
Let's not forget dessert, the galaktoboureko which is smashed filo pastry with a custard style filling and walnuslts and pistachios, finished with a lovely syrup. Definitely s must order for dessert! Very authentic and delicious!
I love the cute intimate space above belvdledere on level 1, such a nice rustic style venue. Staff are very attentive and friendly and happy to help!
E. W. A.
Delicious! The food was fresh and tasty. The service was also good :)
F.
Good food at a reasonable price.
Very friendly staff.
Just a couple of things:
In the Crab stuffed blossoms there was no crab flavour, just cheese flavour.. maybe add more crab for next time?
And I would add a couple of more layers eggplant on the moussaka .
Besides that the food was tasty and welcoming environment, thanks!
R. S.
Organised service; dim moody interior with plenty of atmosphere. Greek restaurant upstairs influences food offering favourably
H. D.
Please book and dine here ASAP!!! What a venue!
How did I not know about this place?
On the first floor of the Belvedere Hotel is "Greek at The Belvedere".
After a cold beer on the cocktail bar on level 2, I made my way down to be greeted by John and the team on the restaurant floor, yep the whole floor is the venue.
After being seated by the smiling team, a very happy and charismatic Chef Stegios emerged from the open kitchen, greeted us and let us know how the evening is going to go.
Let's just say he definitely whisked us all away to Greece last night with his amazing modern and traditional Greek dishes and flavors and made sure we were looked after the entire time.
The service, atmosphere, venue, staff, Chef and the food were a perfect 5 stars.
To pick a favorite would be insulting to the other dishes.

Greek cookery, historically a forerunner of Western cuisine, spread its culinary influence, via ancient Rome, throughout Europe and beyond.
It has influences from the different people's cuisine the Greeks have interacted with over the centuries, as evidenced by several types of sweets and cooked foods.
I. 1.
Absolutely beautiful food. Fantastic location and the lamb gyros was amazing, just like the ones in Greece!
C. K.
Great food and great service. Also the setting isvlike in a traditional Greek Restaurant in Greece. We will be back and recommend to friends.
E. S.
An authentic Greek restaurant on the corner of Bathurst and Kent streets. The menu has a nice selection of wines from the motherland, as well as various Australian regions. Blink and you’ll miss it, it is located on the second floor of the Belvedere Hotel. A quaint venue with great value. The food is almost as good as γιαγιά’s (but don’t tell her that).
A. W.
Tasty food, great service, felt covid safe. will go back for sure!
E. L.
Food was nice, but was very quiet at lunch on Monday, not sure why.
M.
No pretence at the Belvedere. Usually sensible staff in the bar, folk from all walks of life and relaxed atmosphere. Small but not cosy, subdued but not gloomy. A mid size corner hotel favourite and like all it’s kin, precious to Sydney.
R. G.
I had my hens night dinner here. Service was fantastic, staff was friendly and helpful with all our needs. Food was really great. Only downside to our experience at this restaurant was that we had to share the room with a table that were incredibly rude and complained about everything without reason. Great night out and would come back again!
D. K.
Fantastic service.
Everyone we meet was super helpful and pleasant.
d. g.
Never been here befor but the food was great as were the staff
E. M.
More of a pub, but still a good place to have a drink after work. There are other parts that are more clubby, I think, but I like sitting street-level and unwinding after a long day.
A. H.
Nice and clean Greek restaurant. Food is good but a bit too pricey. Friendly service, with average wait time.
G. B.
I was pleasantly surprised from the moment I walked in. The decor and ambiance was authentic. The service exceptional and the food was excellent and well priced.
Very good experience
D. H.
A farewell group from work. It was easy..no dramas. The staff were accommodating.... The food was acceptable. A group of 12+ people and no complaints. Good result.
M. S.
The meals were delicious. The servings, especially of the meat were very generous. The cost was reasonable. We needed to be served in a hurry and they were very accomodating. The decor was nice. It is right near Town Hall so the location is good for many people. I can only say positive things about this restaurant!
J. W.
Good food. Cold beer!
J.
We came here for dinner and were pleasantly surprised at how good the food was. The service was great, the food was amazing, I recommend the pork souvlaki and the spanakopita!
B.
Nothing like a traditional good old bed burger too keto those hunger pains away. Actually my beef was a little burnt, ever so slightly but I doubt it's a common occurrence. Seasoning on the chips was nice. The beef patty was fairly thick which is always a good thing when buying a beef burger. This place seems quite busy after work with a mix of working professionals and builders from local construction sites. Easy going place to have a beer.
M. E.
Tried this place out for lunch. Was hoping for a nice rooftop outdoor area but unfortunately that is reserved/ruined for the smokers. Service was nice. Price wasn’t bad. Burger was average. It’s a shame as the location is pretty great for a Friday lunch with colleagues and the outdoor rooftop has potential.
V. N.
Food was fantastic and very generous serves. If you order the platter for 2 for entree, you will be well satisfied....couldnt finish my beautiful barramundi as I was already sated....very good
T. T.
Nice bar, great service.
L. C.
Just had brilliant meals there. I had perfectly cooked beef eye fillet , she had prawn and calamari with pasta. All cooked to perfection and great flavours. Our waitress was super friendly and helpful. The restaurant on the first floor has a pleasant and peaceful ambience.
L. D.
I thoroughly enjoyed the food in the Greek restaurant upstairs. It was a very ambient atmosphere, rustic Greek Taverna and the service was professional and efficient. I had pita bread with tzatziki and the fried calamari which melted in my mouth. Will definitely be returning in the near future 👍
B. G.
We have been meeting for lunch over many years. Sophie always ensures her staff give us a warm welcome .
L. R.
Fantastic location with outstanding service! Highly recommended!
C. B.
Went here for a friend's birthdays dinner. Good, relaxed atmosphere and they allowed us to play some music do we were able to dance. Food was average (typical pub food quality) mainly Greek cuisine
J. N.
We hosted a corporate dinner at The Greek at the Belvedere. The staff was really nice and helpful all the time, food was delicious and the venue was really nice. There’s a small balcony in case some of your guests smoke, perfect as they don’t need to go downstairs.
D. L.
Wow what an improvement on previous years. Food was great. Traditional pub and now an awesome Greek food selection. Staff were great and delivered drink to us when we left them on the bar. Nice work folks.
T. S. M.
Cool place, chilled out staff! We ordered the grilled barramundi with roast potatoes & sald from menu; best grilled fish we had in long time!
Would easily recomment this place to anyone!!! .... The beers are really expensive 😪😥😓😥😪 ... BUT ... they serve a proper 1 Pint = 568 ml !!! Was an awesome time!
A. D.
Great boozer in the city close to China Town, Cinema and Serviced apartments.
On multiple levels. Ground floor pub and pokies.
2nd floor great Greek Restaurant. Had bar food from the menu and it was superb. Others went into the Restaurant and said it was terrific.
3rd floor smoking balcony and pub.
Solid under city boozer with great reading options.
B.
I had a steak for lunch that was good. Problem was it took a long before it was served as compared to some neighbouring places for the same thing (2x as long or more). I considered it another day for lunch because the taste was good, but I ended up going somewhere else because I was scared of the wait.
G. G.
Nice food. Reasonable prices. Staff very friendly.
D. T.
Wasn't so busy this time around and Wed booked the biggest table for a farewell for work which was great. Didn't have time to eat. Beers were good as far as I can remember. I'll take the lift up next time
P. J.
We booked this place for our Christmas party lunch and drinks yesterday at their rooftop . As a group, we ordered variety of stuff from Burmundi, Kritharoto to Haloumi burger. Everyone enjoyed their food and drinks including me. The customer service was pretty good and it was spacious as well. It was great fun.
M. S.
Quaint pub with choice of delicious beers. Also there was live music at the time we visited.
A. P.
Roof top is just too good !!! They stopped the Chips with greek cheese and now the pork crackles as well...but still prefer the place !!
K. F.
Tremendously great Greek food in an unassuming environment.
One of those hidden gems that you hear about. So glad this restaurant isn't lost to the suburbs.
Quality and taste of the food was superb.
Lost one star because of the inconsistence of delivery. Meals arrived with more than 5 minutes gap between. I guess it was a busy night.
I'll be back .. thank you
J. T.
Wonderful food. High quality, great value
K. B.
Amazing Greek food!
P. T.
Tried the Greek restaurant here, nice modern Greek fare. Nice attentive service, some nice traditional Greek items, my only negative, please stock a Greek beer!
N. C.
Good service and tasty food. Personally did like a curry flavoured octopus.
J. L.
Awesome rooftop bar with outdoor smoking area. Rare find in the city, decent price drinks, however management and staff should pay attention to whats going on in their venue as we and several groups around us were approached by a canvasser collecting charity donations - very inappropriate. Other than that, good service, moderate wait times at the bar.
L. M.
Imperial pints wins me over every time. A few craft beers on rotation keeps things fresh. Good food from the Greek restaurant and a nice 3rd floor terrace
A. Y.
Fabulous moussaka! Great service and authentic delicious Greek food. Highly recommend you go!!!
S. M.
Great location, friendly staff & a top meal 😎
D. A.
Catching up with old friends!, great service and food. Wine serving was tiny, but drinkable.
D. K.
Great food and great service! Perfect for an office worker's quick and delicious lunch!
D. M.
The best Greek food in Sydney with a very relaxed atmosphere. Good service with an excellent wine selection
C. L.
Great bar with a great indoor/outdoor rooftop
E. L.
Very lovely staff!! Helped me out with a covid mask when I didn't have one and needed one for an Uber 🥰🥰🥰
N. S.
Great rooftop bar for a group and tasty snacks. Also Friday is two 4 one espresso Martinis all night!
M. S.
True Greek flavour, authentic recepies, quality ingredients, friendly and professional service, reasonably priced, better than what you would pay in a CBD street level restaurant. (The restaurant is on Level 2 a Nice the pub).
L. S.
This is an amazing venue with great food, awesome service and a great rooftop. I definitely recommend the Belvedere Hotel for your next function or hang out!
N. U.
Good location but the interiors are very tired. The espresso martini was below average - weak and no froth.
J. S.
Medium rare steak 250g yeah right! Also waiting period 45Min. 3 starts just because nice vibe, good drinks
P. R.
Cosy bar downstairs for a few drinks, followed by a lovely lunch at The Greek restaurant on first floor. Enjoyed the food and service very much.
C. L.
Ok range of drinks and food. Great place to chill after work
C. B.
Good Pub with good selection of beers and really nice food
L. C.
The Belvedere is nice and in a very convenient location across from Town Hall Station but the bar is quite small and of it's busy there's not much room.
M. P.
Good food, good beer, good service. Nothing fancy, but just what I needed while battling jetlag after a flight from London.
M. S.
If you love delicious food then this is the place to be !
S. J.
One of the Sydney city pubs. Popular among the business crowd as its right in the CBD.
Nice heritage building, good beers, and a mix of indoor and balcony areas.
J. N.
Great little place, delicious food and great service!
R. C.
Gets busy on a Friday evening, local pub feel, very cosy, stand up area, lounge areas, bar stools, etc. Find a space, and be ready to stay there unless you need to buy a round...
W. B.
Pretty small so not a lot of choice of there's a big group of you. Small selection of tap beer. Ok but probably won't be back
h.
Great Wednesday night fish and chips! Really good!!
D. Q.
Had a nice, quiet dinner with a friend on Tues 21 Jan 2020. She had the Greek salad; I had the chickpea salad (minus the yoghurt dressing) and pita bread.
The waiter was very polite and service was quick. We were also given a plate of complimentary warm pita bread and tzatziki upon arrival.
My salad was missing the fennel and parsley (which it should have had, according to the menu) but this didn't bother me at all... I love chickpeas and would happily eat them plain. My friend's salad had a good amount of feta.
The pita bread was the highlight. It was delicious. I'd be happy to just have a big plate of bread with some dips and olives.
D. T.
Wonderful Greek food. The lamb shoulder is seriously the best I’ve ever had. Stunning food.
M. N.
Low key venue. Went upstairs to have a drink on a Friday and pretty empty. Was told to vacate the upstairs part and go downstairs to the main bar at 11pm
E.
we had a banquet there and I utterly enjoyed every single bite
S. M.
Nice dependable venue with cheap Furphys on tap, and a rooftop beer garden that's great for a long session. Annoying when the DJ kicks in.
S. N.
Dinner in Greek restaurant was pleasant. No long wait for main. Reasonably priced, good service.
G. C.
Pub food parmigana, steak & burgers are decent along with some Greek influence eg. mousaka & pork souvlaki are tasty!
C. B.
The Greek restaurant on level 1 is amazing. Could eat there every day.
L. S.
Just to start off, I wanted to say a very big thank you to Sophie who is the function manager of this restaurant. A few weeks ago, I organised a lunch for a friend who wanted to celebrate their marriage. We had booked out the whole restaurant for lunch because he wanted a lot of privacy. This was perfect. When you enter the restaurant you immediately feel a sense of intimacy and warmth! Love it. There's a private bar just for this restaurant and a private restroom which makes this place the perfect venue for a function.
This restaurant is on level 1 of the Belvedere Hotel and you wouldn't really know it was an awesome place to eat unless someone else told you that it was - it's quite hidden! The chef is a lovely person who is flexible in what they can produce as food. Awesome team! The service was just as amazing.
I had organised a whole set menu for the event and we had pre-ordered the food items the day before. My favourite dishes on the menu was the octopus, halloumi and also the snapper. Such memorable dishes! The lamb shoulder was huge and it was also the highlight of the lunch as well.
I have a lot of praise for the fairy light decoration of their level 3 terrace area that offers reservation of tables and the area for a function too. I can imagine an awesome place to have EOFY parties for groups between 30-40 people. The Belvedere is one of only places where I feel won't rip you off for the drinks that you purchase. It's an honest and authentic business.
Thank you again from the bottom of my heart.

T. U.
Great pub with bar open to the street. Food was great. Thoroughly enjoyed my first visit.
T. W.
Good location, old style Australian pub. Reasonable tap selection though not many options.
E. M.
Price and atmosphere are on par with your standard Sydney pub. Didn't find anything amazing to blow my socks off.
M. M.

D. K.
Had after work drinks here. Small venue but nice.
J. W.
Nice enough bar, with a small 'rooftop' terrace', but the prices are astronomical for what is an average venue

Not too much space at this bar. I had the chicken schnitzel with very watery gravy and my boyfriend had the chicken burger. He said the chicken was super slimy. It was a little bit more pricey and didnt seem to have any daily specials e.g. monday $15 steak night kind of thing.
