This pub is great for lunch or dinner! Meet friends or even spend some time unwinding. The staff are friendly and attentive. The venuecannget very loud at times but only towards the late hours of the day from 6pm. Value for money bistro serving up some food with standard and made with some love. Must see if you are new in town.

Wow! THIS PLACE HAS IT ALL! The bistro is amazing, fresh delicious food served with a side of customer service that is evident! Attentive staff and Australia’s largest international wines, beer, spirits to wash all that delicious food down! You feel at home when you step into this venue with a history dating back to 1940. You can’t but feel as if you’ve stepped into an amazing place with experience and vibe. A job well done!

Went to see a friend play here, in the Underground. What a great venue - it's cozy but not too small, has it's own bar, booths, a dance floor and lots of mirror balls. Would be a really great place for a party when we can safely do that again.💃 (Longing sigh!)

There are so many places for steak in Sydney, thought I would try this one. Lovely open room, with two large TV’s either side of the room. Ordered two steaks, chips and salad. The steaks were cooked to order, the salad dressing was actually quite good and the chips hot. The steak was bland and not really worth $25, when you compare it to nearby pubs. No one asks how your meal is, and it really sums this place as one visit location.

A big pub that's in the middle of the city! Very clean pub with good prices for drinks. It's higher than street level so makes a good people watching pub. Good volume of background music and a good place to meet up if going to the Capital Theater. Been here a lot and it's the best pub that's in the inner city. Nothing very special about it though but it's clean and easy pub.

Good location for the Hay Market office workers. We had after work drink there last Friday afternoon. No happy hour - so expensive $6.8 for a tap beer in a relatively small plastic glass. The bar tender was Ok, not a very positive guy to customers. I personally would not return as the experience went below my expectation.

Great food here. Definitely not your average pub food. We went here for a work lunch and everyone loved it. I had the gyros but the "sausage roll" looks amazing as well. Worth a visit. The pub is an old school pub as well, which is very refreshing.

Went for lunch recently, and ended up puzzled by the earlier review as the experience was very positive, the complete opposite. The venue is part of a pub, but the décor is light and pleasant. The staff were friendly and helpful, we chatted to one of the two sisters who started the restaurant - she was charming. The food was good - we had the dip plate as a shared starter, great taramasalata. I had the two fold pulled lamb burger with haloumi and eggplant, which was a bit messy to eat as a traditional burger with hands, but I enjoyed nevertheless - lots of flavour. Overall very positive and I will definitely go back to try the either the pork belly or the moussaka and certainly the baklava/ice cream desert.

I was really pleased with the security staff tonight at George Fitzgerald. I know security guards often cop a lock of slack, but I think the team deserves a As someone that has been to Civic for a number of events, I was really impressed the fantastic customer service provided. I never knew there was a smoking bay upstairs. As it was quiet, one of the staff walked with my partner and I up to show us where it was.. The security guards tonight were also really approachable, friendly and caring. There was a woman walking in the RSA checking in on everyone’s coping. I also noticed that they removed patrons throughout the night for being too drunk or up in space. They did this in a very ordinary fashion. The whole team should be congratulated for their customer service throughout this evening.

It was my first time here , the staff were very friendly and approachable . The food was great !! I stayed downstairs where there was the dancefloor and had an awsome night . This review is in addition to my review 9 months ago: I reckon the civic only really gets customers cause of its location. The happy hour is only on exclusive things, the beers on tap are nothing special and the stairs to the toilets are beautiful but treacherous if your in heels and drunk. I still manage to go in here more than I like because its the closest pub to work so i guess nothing has changed in 9 months

Reggae Monday that's all I need to say! You wanna be here! It's a chill way to stay out late on s Monday. You only live once so stay out late a Monday or 2. You won't regret it. The party kicks in bout 11:15 pm.

We went to the civic hotel on a Monday night for their weekly Reggae Party which is held at the bar/ club area downstairs the civic hotel. It is every Monday and the entry is free. It starts at 10.30pm and they have drink specials like G&T for 5$. There is a life band playing and a Dj. The music was great and the atmoshpare was really nice. Everyone is dancing and in a good mood. If you like Reggae and R'nB' style music this is an event your shouldn't miss! The bartenders are friendly and really quick so we never waited long for our drinks. I would definitely recommend this place on a Monday night if you love a good night out dancing!
