Comments of The Governor Hotel

We enjoyed a great family lunch on a Sunday in one of their booth tables. Excellent menu options for all ages, diets and food preferences as well as full bar offering wine, cocktails and usual mixed drinks. The porchetta for main and hot brownie for dessert are very tasty. We did not get a chance to enjoy the rooftop bar and terrace so head up and try as well.

Great food - not too expensive but yummy and filled me up ! A good sign - have 2 more floors with pool tables, pinball and darts ! Oh and an upstairs open air bar / club
Lived in the area for 3 years - first time there - will be a regular 😆
R. L.
The food is great. Hot, fresh, and plenty of it. Perhaps a little on the pricey side given the location, but the quality, service, and ambience all make up for that.
The Governor sports bar had a fun vibe, and the bistro is really open and happening. Pretty accessible too, with ground floor wide doors, and wide entranceways between tables.
Usually it's a good idea to book, especially on the week-ends.
This is fast becoming one of my locals
S. E.
The way to the rooftop was hard to find but once you get there, it's nice. Great food!

Came here to attend a birthday event and was greeted with a great atmosphere! The rooftop area was airy and spacious, with a decent menu selection for food and drinks. The bar is accomodating too. Greeted with live music which was nice but the singer kept singing country which wasn't my taste but still welcome. It also has an arcade for additional activities. Overall a great spot for groups, the birthday girl was pleased and a good experience overall!

Love the whole set up. A place for everyone.
Very yummy burger! Lovely staff and modern set up. Thumbs up!

Great venue! My favourite out of all the venture that this team owns. I love the vibe, the patrons and crowd.
My personal favourite is the roof top bar during spring and summer.
Highly recommend - it’s a place you must visit more then once for a vibrant drink with your friends on the roof top or an intimate dinner down stairs with the family.

Yesterday 30 of my family and friends enjoyed celebrating my 60th birthday. We had two of the Governor tables that were beautifully set, in an area just for us! We started with platters to share that were amazing then everyone ordered from bistro menu which had a great selection of meals catering for all ages and dietary requirements. Steaks were cooked to order accurately.
The bar tab was open and managed professionally and the staff made extra effort to make sure we were all well looked after! Thank you to all ! We will definitely be coming back!!!!
S.
Great atmosphere- food is a average.
We waited an hour for a pizza and dumplings which came out tasting average! It was Tuesday and not many people around so couldn’t understand why it took an hour for our food!
N. B.
Amending to 5 stars.
I'd never been here before and went to an event. The rooftop was warm under the outdoor shade, but cooler indoors.
Super friendly staff, fantastic range of drinks and yummy food. Best place in the area.
And, they thanked me for the review - that means a lot!
P. A.
Been there twice and tried different dishes!! Very high quality foods with great portions!
Pumpkin salad is one of the best!
Also tried steak and really enjoyed!
Highly recommend to visit!
Huge venue for group booking
All the staff are very professional and polite!
Definitely come back

Was in MP for 3 nights and popped here on 1st night just for a catch up with team. Impressed with range of drinks and size of location. Service was good and prices are good too. I didn't eat but can attest to the quality food based on my friends dishes.
J. H.
Usually a very lively venue it was quiet last time I visited due to Covid. It does seem Covid-safe as far as possible though. The downstairs area is closed but the covered rooftop area is open so plenty of fresh air flowing through. The staff are friendly and welcoming. The food is always good.
M. T.
I've been to a lot of places and I've never seen a venue have staff that clearly are busy but still look happy to be there. I was on the rooftop bar last night and the line was out the door, but when I finally got to the front, the bartender was friendly and welcoming. The cocktails jugs were top notch, the food was delicious, the service was great, and it was good to see the staff loving what they did. Also, the management there is awesome, no ask is too much - we wanted to be outside, but all the tables were in use, but just like that, the manager (didn't get her name) and the best guard ever (think his name was Will) came back with chairs and a table for me and my friend. Think we've found our new local!
A. C.
The service is amazing, and the food is hecka good!

The Governor hotel is a new find for me and probably the best in the Mac Park area I’ve been to. They ask to see your NSW check in which is very covid safe of them. The place is very spacious and there’re multiple area, rooftop, smoking, ground level outdoor-ish, restaurant etc. Although I couldn’t visit the rooftop I could hear that it was quite busy, I’ll definitely go there next time. We didn’t stay for a meal but had cocktails and entrees. The aranchini and squid were both lovely, same with the cocktail jugs. Plenty of beer on the tap too. They have parking but it can get full quite fast (especially on a Friday night) but there’s street parking across the street. I’ll definitely go there again and take more friends with me!
A. S.
This place is amazing and very good outlet for business meetups. I have been there few times with my colleagues. We spend hours there and staff is good, food and nibbling are very nice and tasty.
People find many business professionals coming throughout the lunch, evening and dinner. They have very big sitting arrangement on top floor and small zone for smokers.
Small to large seatings are always available to cater all gatherings.
Generally I am impressed and highly recommend to visit there.
B. (. B.
We were here on the opening night of the venue, upon arrival it totally looks amazing they did a great job on the architecture.
The security was quite strict however I kinda understand what they meant by strict dress codes. So yeah no ripped jeans.
Anyhow the staff members are pretty friendly and quick to help out at any situation.
I especially like the bar staff as they provided quick and friendly service we never had to wait long for our drinks.
The decor is great as it's not too overwhelming. One complaint though the locks on the alcohol cabinets... I have seen them bump into people they walked by.
Now for the food:
Katrina the waitress was excellent as she took our orders in a timely manner. What we didn't like was the dining experience. There's no table service nor do they bring the food to the tables. But the food was good.. sure took awhile but it was good.
This venue is going to be home to many of the surrounding businesses "go to local". So you can expect busy Friday nights.
R. B.
It's a giant trendy pub really. Three or so floors, with multiple bars and VIP areas. It's a decent spot for end of year events, and even a nightclub upstairs. The rooftop seating and bar is nice though a little dicey in the rain. The view isn't much to write home about as its roadways.
The drinks are above average price wise, you're looking at $10 for a schooner so having drinks here hurts.
Food wise the menu is decent and priced more on par with its competitors. We've tried the pizzas, burgers, steaks and most of the deserts. These average around $21 and for fancier dishes like salmon you in the mid to high 30s.
The governor is probably the best large venue for the general area, though it was described to me as a 3 story 'ranch' for comparison. We gave it more love than that but it's got some room to improve.
Also parking is a nightmare, catch the metro or else you're parking in nearby businesses spaces and taking a walk.
S. C.
Very clean and tidy place. Spacious and quiet. Friendly staff. Food portions were big and delicious
B.
Great atmosphere, welcoming staff and good food. Celebrated my partner’s bday here and she was greeted with a free drink on arrival, what a nice little touch, and every staff member we interacted with was so happy, cheerful and helpful. Only one downfall is that there is very limited parking.
G. H.
I’m not usually one to post reviews but I felt I had to with this one - never have I experienced such rudeness from someone. I went for dinner with my parents to celebrate my Dad’s birthday on Saturday 19th of February - and the day was lovely overall, only ruined by one staff. My dad can’t climb stairs so our booking for rooftop wasn’t going to be able to happen, so we asked a girl at the bar (too busy speaking to another staff member) for help and she said lift was broken and we had to sit downstairs. We wanted to sit outside and asked if the downstairs area outdoor was available and she treated my Dad like an idiot saying “well obviously if no one is sitting there”. Another staff member overheard and offered to help set us up outside and brought menus and cutlery out, he was very kind. We steered clear of the girl (short blonde hair) the rest of the day. I wanted to give 1 star, but at the same time I wanted to give 5 star - but I couldn’t bring myself to allow that girls behaviour. The rest of the staff at the venue were kind, and the food was delicious - my dad was hoping for Resches, but nothing a VB can’t resolve. I understand hospitality is a hard place to work right now, but no need to treat a person the way we were, especially my dad.
K. M.
Lovely place with great cocktails!!
Happy and chilled vibe. Food was delicious. Roof top terrace was perfect place for my big group of friends. Excellent for get together with nice music in the background!!! Love the place!!! Highly recommend 👌👍
C. H.
Great atmosphere, rooftop bar is a nice setting and down stairs has a great ambiance. But there were a few things that could have made it better. Cocktail jugs are only available on the ground floor and rooftop bar. So if you’re in GameStop (level 2), you have to climb the stairs or wait for the lift. Same with the food. If you have a multi-storey establishment, why not find a solution for food delivery to the middle floor and have the same drink available everywhere? The games are pretty well worn. I understand they’re popular, but darts missing the points, pool tables missing chalk, air hockey accessories so filthy with crud on the bottom they stick to the table - those are very easy fixes. Half the screen in Buck Hunter doesn’t work, and half the Daytona machines weren’t working. There’s also no signage in the game area on how to get tokens, and no change machine. Dinner was alright, had the porchetta and the crackling was half burnt. Maybe it was just an off night. I would give it another shot once my bank account recouperates
B. P.
Went here for work function. They were in the middle of some major renovations. Still put on a fantastic event for like 100 people, with games, food and drinks. Really great place for your next team event! 👍
E. P.
Too rainy for the city so we gave the venue a chance and we are glad we did! My husband and I just wanted a nice little date night. We didn't have a booking (whoops!!!!) but the girls on the entry found us a table within minutes. The little booths with the doors were perfect for us. We tried a few a cocktails, well almost all of them, and YUM! We got a lot of share items of the menu and there truly is something for everyone! Only downside was they seemed to be understaffed, and the line to get in was quite long because they seemed a bit understaffed on the door, but the girls on the door were lovely and shout out to the girl with pink hair for putting up with our endless cocktail orders! She was a superstar!
S. P.
Ate there twice last week on a work visit and the food lived up to their reputation - the pork was the standout which hands down beat the local favourite “wagu ragu”. Would have been 5 stars if they could extend to table service for ordering food and maybe a few craft beers in the fridge 😁
A. L.
one of the bathroom taps wasn't working? live music was really good. food was expensive on the terrace, don't eat here. $20 for 6 small wings.
A. S.
I’ve been in The Governor tonight. Classy, great atmosphere and fantastic dinner. I had pork belly and I would like to give a good rate for that. It was yummy, crispy and nice. The atmosphere is fabulous. It’s worth try it once in a while. It’s a bit costly so you are expecting some kind of pricey meal. It’s not the one that you can go always but if you really expecting classy atmosphere and good food it’s great. I had chicken butter milk for entree which was delicious. I tried steak and it was good s well. In a nutshell classy. A bot expensive but it’s worth to give it a try.
I liked it
W. N.
Decent food and good selection of beer! Excellent and smiley staff! looks like an ideal place for parties and catch up after work!
Make sure you check out the rooftop bar during sunset! It’s a gem!
K. S.
Highly recommend this city-feel venue in Macquarie. Saturday nights you'll hear odd school 90s rnb on the rooftop. Their bottomless brunch during the day is quite impressive with a selection of hot breakfast items, cold meats, fruit and desserts. Plus a list of delicious cocktails to temp you. The Hills cocktail is recommended! Bartenders Declan and Abhi were so lovely and really helpful. Manager Dhwanil had great suggestions and made it a wonderful afternoon.
R. v. V.
Lovely atmosphere, great quality food and friendly service. Highly recommended...
h. S.
Love the food! Love the service! Servings are pretty generous we ordered sides which we couldn't finish. Really modern decor with complimenting colour scheme. Just not sure about deer head wall..(chicken is halal)
G. M.
Excellent venue for family and friends to grab a meal and a few drinks. Quirky areas keeps this venue interesting with a fantastic rooftop in the warmer months
a. z.
The food was well cooked and prepared, but the menu is misleading in some bits, but overall it’s good is very good and would’ve been 5 stars if not for the menu. The menu needs to be more specific.
D. B.
This place was amazing. It's unique style is something that is very unique to the North Ryde area. We went during lunch time and it was a nice quiet place for a afternoon drink.
The staff are very friendly. They have a BIG selection of beers on tap and large selection of liquor. Even their coffee is amazing.
a. s.
This is how The Governor packages the take away meal! These guys are showing all how it’s done! Simply the best!
Returned again and got the desert, actually post the first one had to have a second one :) soooooo goooood!
G.
Love that you can book online. Went in on a Sunday night and the staff we really friendly and chatty which is always nice. Greeted and shown to our table by the host who was great at explaining and showing us around and accommodating.
Honestly didn't expect much from the fried chicken but it was amazing.. the only annoying thing was that it was a little difficult to get to the sauce to dip the chicken. There either needs to be more sauce, or maybe a wider/more shallow dish to serve it in. The steak was cooked well, to the requested medium rare.
It's nice seeing the waiters take pride in the setup of the coasters and place settings. Small details go a long way in my eyes.
Thank you for finally establishing a place close to home with great food.
The only down side was parking..and that there are limited spots, especially since street parking around the area is paid until 7pm :(
A. R.
Food was yummy. Atmosphere was really nice. Disappointed the roof top bar isn't open during the day. Missing out on an awesome Weekend Day time venue not opening the roof top bar.
C. S.
It’s a long weird walk to the top, revealing a Mediterranean feel, roof top bar, to relax in the sunlight and enjoy a slice of pizza, typical pub grub, drinks and music.
N. R.
Good pizzas and fair prices for drinks
N. B.
The bottomless brunch at is brilliant value and well worth a try. The staff are friendly and attentive which made for a really enjoyable experience. We sat on the roof top in one of the booths, it does get a little hot as the day goes on but there is plenty of shade available.
c.
Nice place but you guys got swastikas in your windows
a. n.
had to clear our table most of the time maybe it was because we was drinking so much willie the bouncer was a huuge help and worth a mention the bloke is a legend and had calf muscles the size of Norton motorcycle gas tanks good grub rooftop was fun
A. M.
Great sports bar indoors and an excellent roof top bar also. Meals quite good.
J. K.
This is literally the best pub in the area (Chatswood, Ryde, Macquarie etc.)!
There are multiple venues in one:
- Downstairs bistro and "garden" - perfect for a casual meal with family, evening meal with friends or even a function. Food here is great: from pizzas to poke bowls.
- Downstairs bar and gaming launge - great for a quick drink or a long night with friends.
- Rooftop Bar - this is far too cool for the area. Great vibes and good snack food (like the photo), which is different to the menu downstairs.
For those that read the negative reviews I can say a few things. All the staff I have met have been really nice and I've been to all areas multiple times because I live around corner. Also if looking half respectable is the price you pay for having a cool place in the area, I will pay it no questions asked. For those not prepared, the ranch is right around the corner but it's nothing on the Governor.
I highly recommend you check this place out.
G. M.
Great atmosphere and staff are friendly a nice Roku gin and tonic very refreshing on the roof top bar. The food is very nice I had chicken sanity with salad and chips very nicely cooked meal it was delicious. Some nice beers on tap peroni my go to beer with the meal was just what was needed. I highly recommend a visit to the Governor
S. D.
group of 9 initially booked the rooftop for dinner, it was too cold so we asked to move, it was no trouble at all. The barman let us know about the $1 dumplings on that night so we loaded up on them before our mains, all of it was delicious. Very friendly and helpful staff.
K. T.
Really big place and really good food. Collecting your food is a weird set up though. The woman just passes it you off the side. Be better if they brought it to your table or even just had something else there infront. Weird. But really nice food! No complaints ! Rooftop bar too, which is just lovely!
L. C.
Great place for a large gathering. They set us up in the glasshouse and we had it almost completely to ourselves. Very nice staff and great atmosphere.
H. G.
Dinner at the Governor was, all though some items were more expensive than one would expect for a Macquarie Park venue, delicious.
The staff were friendly and accommodating, assisting to help with table service if you had full hands!
The decor was fun but classy, and there was a variety of dining table options (booths, bar stools etc). Those of us at my table didn't like the chairs, but a minor complaint in an overall aesthetic venue.
Would go back, and am pleased to see there's regular trivia in the area where we can enjoy the Governor's service.
J. N.
Pricey but the quality of the food is there. Good vibes on the rooftop but pretty average downstairs. 4 stars because the elevator felt dangerous as hell...
C. T. (.
Busy but good atmosphere! Good us lovely & ty good range of options. Only thing letting it down is parking, otherwise a great spot for a drink, dinner with friend or family.
B. K.
A great group location. Usually go in for team lunches and after work drinks. Great service with the shuttle bus. Like how there is indoor and rooftop options for seating.
V. G.
Great pub in an area with almost no competition. Expect it to be busy during Friday lunch time and if you’re in a group, making a booking. Good choices of beer and the food is great. Highly recommend hanging out in the rooftop bar. Maybe doesn’t have the same view as something in the City but it definitely has a cool vibe and is pretty chilled out.
W. K.
Great place for venue hire for 20 to 50 people. Seating area can be converted to indoors or opened up for some sunshine. Bar has excellent selection of spirits as well as +10selection of craft beer on tap. There is on site parking but not as many as The Ranch
L. A.
We have been coming for years and the venue never ceases to impress! We had a booking on Friday evening for my friends birthday, and even though we wanted the rooftop, we were placed downstairs due to wet weather. The girl on the door (blonde) apologised and told us that they would help us find a table as soon as one became free. About 30 minutes later (and a few cocktails down) another girl (brunette) came over and told us she had found us a spot on the roof and even gave us a birthday card with birthday cocktail card in it for my friend! She even walked us up and showed us to our table! Weather might've been gloomy but our night sure wasn't :)
P. J.
Nice place for office team lunches. They are usual big dinning place with lounge etc. liked the interesting menu specially veg corn ribs.
S. A.
Great service. I interacted with maybe half a dozen staff members, from the person who greeted us at the door, to the helpful staff that got some plates and some water. Every interaction was friendly.
The food was good, the decor is modern. I hope these guys do well.
V. L.
First team outing for Freedom day, food & drinks did not disappoint! Loved the cocktails, buzzing atmosphere & the fried chicken is worth a try - well done Governor Hotel, glad you are opened again.
R. “. K.
Great ambience. With good food and beverages. Its good go to place for night hours
S. F.
Fantastic place to dine out, family friendly environment, lots of space and things to do. I strongly recommend it.
S. M.
Very good food, variety of beers and lovely place.
The music is not too loud so it is a good place to meet and talk.
highly recommended
L. S.
It's a really decent venue for this area. Food and drinks are good, trivia is fun, service is excellent. Definitely would recommend it for the locals.
***Green bowls are the best***
m. p.
Visited almost every year around Christmas season, though the roof top is amazing. I wish they have done something for people to still able to hangout there without getting wet.
N. D.
Top venue and local for those working and living in the area. Quality food at reasonable price. Definitely recommended!
J. L.
Cocktails and food was good! Unfortunately the lift was not working. Had to go up a HEAP of steps to get to the roof top.
S. D.
Yesterday I met Tolly (apologies if that is misspelt)
I was actually seeking direction's for a job interview and she went out of her way to assist me.
I was successful, so thank you Tolly.
I was tempted at the prospect of a bar job which was also available, but the Governor looked like it required someone more sofisticated, than my English pub beer pulling skills could provide.
Thank you Tolly
Whatever you are paid you are worth more
Your kindest to a complete stranger was very much appreciated.
Cheers
Stephen

Food was great, good atmosphere. Parking can very difficult during times.
H. R.
We were pleasantly surprised. Great atmosphere and dining experience
M. Y.
Went here for trivia (which was very unique!). Rooftop area is very nice, food was very good but a little exxy.
J. H.
With the reduction in Covid restrictions I was able to return to the bistro twice. I had a 300g wagu steak with garlic potatoes, and peppercorn sauce. In both cases the steak was cooked to perfection. Absolutely fantastic. Revisited again recently and was great!
R. A.
Great drinks, amazing environment, good vibes!
We had an enjoyable time for a work event at the rooftop terrace. Food and drinks were amazing and we loved the setting. Staff was really nice and background music was good. Definitely the place to go around this area!

I love the margarita pizza from here. Nice place to chill out. Very friendly staff.
N. r. s.
nice vibe and good atmosphere. Hostess at the entrances was rude and not helpful to get a table even after booking and DJ was boring too but food was okay.
R. W.
Look I love the governor and go there frequently I do however put down the stars as I and many friends have dealt with the creepy dj on the roof top bar a few too many times. When a complaint was made it was palmed off as he is not directly hired by them. Not a good enough response and was rather disappointing
H. I.
Had to update my review from 5star pub…
Last couple of times the food was subpar and not really staffed properly the way they run the tables is odd they reserve tables even if a booking is 2-3 hours away
J. R.
There were 5 of us for a meeting/lunch!! I live in the Eastern suburbs and I must say that it was so easy to arrive and sit in one of the lovely booths - so roomy as well for the 5 of us.
My daughter ordered and the food was fantastic.
All of us in the meeting are in the Hospitality Industry in one way or another and the venue was chosen by a company who has their office right near the Govenor.
We had a great meeting and lunch and enjoyed the ambience and relaxed atmosphere of your venue.
Thank you for taking good care of us - we will be back soon, Judy
G.
Best cocktails and food .. great place to hang out .... I had probably the greatest cocktail ever by their bartender “Aaron” he made a very balanced and a perfect cocktail ... highly recommended place ..... all the staff are absolutely amazing
N. K.
We did the bottomless brunch at The Governor Hotel with our mums and we had an amazing experience. Amazing service. The waitress we had was sooo lovely, she looked after everything we wanted and was super accomodating. I highly recommend.
M.
Surprisingly great pub and needed in the area. Awesome food, great menu choices. Trendy setting and atmosphere. No table service was disappointing.
O. A.
Really nice atmosphere on the rooftop. Loved the drinks. Nice place altogether
R. S.
Very comfortable, EXCELLENT service, friendly staff, food was Superb!
Highly recommended 🥇🏆🤙🏿

First night out after lockdown ..... Wanted to say a huge thanks to all the wonderful staff from greeting at the door ,the beautiful friendly bouncer who gave us the fab news
" no masks needed upstairs " outdoors 😊.... Helped move heater...moved our umbrellas when it began to rain . the pizza was great and wait staff were upbeat and helpful ...an outstanding effort to all the staff great team work .... I'll be back
V. L.
Great service and Fabulous food. Can’t ask for a better atmosphere and experience. Look forward to organising future events in 2022
Thank you to the whole team
C. E.
Nice and clean, services are good. A place for a few friends to drink and eat.
S. l.
Great place, just a nice ambience there, good amount of areas also to stay away from crowds.
A. A.
The place is really nice and has very lovely rooftop bar.
N. L. (. P.
Good food (a touch pricey), great atmosphere. The roof top is definitely the high light!
P. D.
Good place and really nice rooftop bar with nice cocktails.
The chef is extremely rude though, we requested chilli flakes with our pizza and he slammed the bowl and rolled his eyes. He did that with my friend too. Not sure if I want to go back to a place where the chef is so obnoxious and rude to the customers for no apparent reason.
C. T.
Spent a couple of hours on a Friday night, would happily of stayed longer. Great atmosphere and music. Shared some surprisingly great vegan/vegetarian dishes that are normally hard to get in these venues. Would go again.
I. M.
The Governor is great for any occasion. We went there yesterday for a team lunch. There were 13 of us. Arrived at 12.30pm, our reserved table was waiting for us, were able to order our meals within five mins and all meals were served within 15mins. As we were in our lunch break it was great to be able to get out of the office, enjoy some fantastic food, good company and be back at work in plenty of time. The food is amazing!!
I have also been to The Governor on a Friday night for after work drinks and the atmosphere is great. Every area has a different feel so you will be able to find the right spot to suit your mood.
G. S.
Atmosphere was pretty amazing even though they're currently going under Renos. But unfortunately when I went, their beer taps were out of order
So I took away a star for that but the espresso martini was on point
A. R.
I just had an event hosted at The Gov and I can't speak highly enough of the team that managed it and how the night turned out. The function coordinator was very responsive and super flexible with changing event requirements. The venue itself was perfect - great ambience! We booked out an area on the rooftop and it was well spaced out with private access to the bar. Food was incredibly well priced and tasty with options to suit the different dietary needs we had. Also reasonable bar pricing with modest minimum spend. It's well located - 20 mins from CBD and 20 mins from Western Syd. 400m from the Metro and plenty of parking around the area. Security were even super polite when booting us out at closing. Can't recommend this place enough for a function.

Most staff consistently had an attitude yet all good with their own staff. No social cues whatsoever.
E. H. (.
Great atmosphere, food and service. The rooftop bar is amazing and a vibe every weekend. This place surpasses everything you would expect when visiting a pub. Staff are friendly from the second you walk in to the second you walk out. A must visit for those near and far.
H. S.
Very nice bar but still under renovations? Very confusing the way you reach the roof bar, like walking through a labyrinth A bit overpriced
S. P.
We regularly eat at the bistro restaurant. The quantity of the food is excellent, and good value for money. Staff are efficient and friendly. The restaurant is spacious and has a variety of seating options. The kids in particular love the train seat booths! We have not had a poor experience here yet. Great for a family meal or a casual catchup with friends.

Hard to find parking spots.
Good food & nice atmosphere
N. L.
What a surprising little find. Cute spaces and quite good for an event. Good range of food and drinks options.
T. S.
Multi floor hotel with large floor space. We went in a large group and had to be moved due to inclement weather on the rooftop area . The alternative seating was inadequate as it was several small circular tables put together- a bit of an awkward configuration. The food menu was small and standard pub fare and only just okay. The music was good and so was the house white.
M. Y.
Birthday lunch here, food was delicious, staff super friendly and helpful. I booked a table ahead of time. Pricing is reasonable for the size of meals you get. Only struggle is parking. It’s limited. But there is street parking.
K. Z. M.
I went to the governor with the girls and had the best time ever... Loved the cocktails and the service was exceptional, Ricky is the best host! I'm looking forward to be back there... If you haven't been there, do yourself a favor a pay the governor a visit.
N. T.
Have been only once for a 21st party & its very nice venue especially the rooftop section. The food was tasty & the staff very friendly. Only complain is the very limited parking especially on peak nights. It's not enjoyable walking up from dark side street.
Y. M.
Nice watering hole where you can get nice nibblies or full on dinner after work
R. K.
Had the NSW check-in QR code right at the entrance and staffs were welcoming. During the service also staffs were smiling and service was top notch. My feedback would be to maintain consistency on food. We had several orders as it was a Christmas lunch from the office and we noticed that same veggie pasta would taste different on different tables. Not that it was bad but the taste difference was pretty much observed by everyone who were jumping from here to there and sharing a bite.
E. G.
Fast service, great atmosphere, the lychee cocktail with a schnitty is an absolute must!! Highly recommend for a nice pub feed or a few drinks upstairs on the rooftop.
C. M.
Had lunch here with a small group, rooftop bar had a good selection of food and drinks, and outdoor seating had umbrellas to keep us out of the sun. Kitchen was more than accomodating for our allergy requirements, and even though the vegan mains at the rooftop kitchen were a little lacking, they were happy for us to order a meal from the bistro one level down and bring it back up.
j. b.
Interesting pub, rooftop bar and eatery.

My friends and I had a lovely evening at both the restaurant and Ess on Saturday! We felt welcomed and very well looked after by every staff member. Everyone was exceptionally friendly, helpful and thoughtful and it made a big difference to our time there. I appreciate the complimentary birthday cocktail and card signed by the entire team, and a special shout out to Nicole for being incredibly lovely!!! We will definitely be back!
N. M.
Quite an oddity. The interior is very nice, lots of seating, sports bar, and even has a roof top terrace. The food was nice, standard pub fare. As far as suburban pubs go, this one is very nice. Almost like a mini RSL except the pokies from what I recall weren't intrusive at all.
N. H.
Good vibes. Great food. Even better service! Was greeted At the door by Catriona?, who set the bar high for our night! She ensured we had a great experience and enjoyed a fantastic night! Would definately recommend trying it out!
k. m. f.
There is not better place for cocktails, the roof top area is incredibly amazing, perfect music and chill vibe. Let’s not talk about the service, best service you could ask for ... the governor is the place to go.
You’ll be hosted by Ricky and he’s a top guy 👌🏽
H. D. H.
Beautiful venue. I don't know if the location does it any favours.
Upstairs area was lovely, service was a bit slow (Sunday and fairly busy). I had the mushroom pizza but I didn't enjoy it too much because there was so much cheese that just slid off the base.
V. W.
Dropped in late afternoon for Lunch. Got a table straight away. Fantastic food and Wine. We will be back. 24/10.
J. W.
We always enjoy going to this venue, whether for a meal in the Bistro or for a drink in the sun on the rooftop. The food is consistently good and the membership discount on food and drink makes the visit even better. Thoroughly recommend.
M. J.
The best bottomless brunch around!! The cocktails are high quality and the food is beyond spectacular. You should have seen our faces when the giant platter of desserts, fruit and brunch food came out!! A special shout out to the bartender (I believe his name was Alex?) for going above and beyond to make our event a special one. We will definitely be returning soon!!
K. W.
Had an amazing experience with the bottomless brunch. Was served by Alex who made the most delicious cocktails and made sure we were constantly well fed and watered. Fantastic service from Alex and so many laughs, who really made the experience better than any other bottomless brunch than I've been to. Highly recommended!!!
L. M.
Quite nicely done. We ate upstairs on balcony ..would not recommend to eat upstairs at night as the music was soo noisy and the smoke drift from the smokers was awful. The sweet potato fries and dipping sauce yum yum yum. Downstairs looked beautiful so would probably recommend there for a group dinner . We did go on a Saturday night tho round 7pm.
U. S.
Great place, vast variety of food and beverage choices. Friendly staff.
a. k.
Chicken schnitzel was a bit dry. Environment was good.
B. W.
Great decor, love the rooftop vibe but mediocre service and food. We booked a table for 7 and were seated at a table for 5. When we asked for a larger table we were treated like we were being difficult. The food portions could have been a bit bigger.
M. T. O.
We had a wonderful time for my partners 70th birthday! Service was excellent and everyone was super helpful and accommodating. It made the difference especially during this times of the pa denis more so that my partner is not well . So thank you to the staff of The Governor for being there for us! Well done to the team. Please keep up your beautiful caring attitude as this is rare nowadays. 👍🏽
S. D.
Hotel was good but food menu was very limited and nothing special.
B. H.
Nice roof top bar and fun downstairs arcade area. Lots of beer options.
C. D.
Held a 30th Birthday here in The Glasshouse Room and it was amazing! Anya, Tegan and Mackenzie went above and beyond for us in the lead up to the event and on the night. Everyone loved the food and the atmosphere. Will definitely be back!
M. L.
Great food, cute decor in the dining area and I love rooftop bar. I’ve eaten here several times over the past couple of years and have enjoyed every visit.
L. T.
This place is absolutely awesome. I love bringing my friends here. They have great food here and really good service. The last time i came here i got served by Nicky aka Nick. He came to the table and asked us if we wanted anything. His service was spot on. His a great guy with a really hilarious personality and if anyone needs anything nicky is the guy to go to.
M. B.
Fantastic brunch experience - the food was delicious and generous. The cocktails were divine and the service from the staff was impeccable. The atmosphere was welcoming and relaxed and we were treated like very valued guests. I would highly recommend The Governor Brunch experience.
G. B.
Had a great time salsa dancing on the rooftop bar. Then the rain came and we kept on dancing. Fun atmosphere. They tell me salsa is every Saturday from 5 to 9. The food is good as well, we had a group and for$20 a couple we are heaps of pizza, finally the craft beer is great.
R. D.
Amazing customer service in the restaurant and the bar and great food. Thanks for a great first night out! See you soon. :)
P. M.
New clean stylish pub that will definitely be popular. Great service as soon as you enter. The staff are very welcoming and friendly. We had dinner and the food was enjoyable. The menu isn't extensive but has the usual pub options with enough to find something everyone would like. Not large serves but reasonable. Prices align to premium pub pricing.
No shortage of drink options with numerous on tap.
We went on a quiet night but parking may be tricky on busy nights. Will definitely be back.
P. D.
In North Ryde this is well worth the visit, 20 boutique beers on tap and plenty of other options. Food is good, fresh and tasty. The menu is more on the "Diner" side of eating but the environment is really comfortable and spacious.
C. I.
Recently renovated. Excellent food. Good parking. I go there on Thursday evening for Texas holdem Poker run by APL. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

It's a bit of an oasis in Macquarie Park. A large venue with parking and plenty of seating and room inside. Great choice of beer and food. Interesting decor with lots of large mounted animal heads on the walls that seem out of place in the modern, bright interior (also as an a animal lover I didn't enjoy seeing them). The big issue for our table was the temperature of the food. It's was warm. The chips, pasta, steaks and burgers were all the same temperature. And the food is not cheap – $30 for pasta. Did provide the feedback while there so hopefully they can address the timing issues. Aside from that we enjoyed our evening. There was not long to wait for drinks or food, and the food for our table came at the same time.
A. H.
Good food and service...Lack of parking though
A. K.
Great pub. Loved the rooftop area.
A.
We celebrated a birthday lunch there during the week. The staff were friendly and helpful. One staff member who showed particular initiative and assistance was Rebel. The food was excellent. Pumpkin ravioli, beef salad, oven roasted barramundi we ordered were very fresh and delicious. The tiramisu was superb. We really enjoyed the experience at The Govenor and will return.
A. K.
Amazing food and friendly staff. Cocktails are one of the best and attention to detail is impressive. Would recommend for someone looking for a fine yet relaxed pub setting.

What started as a not so great ended being so wonderful! We arrived without a booking early in the evening and were made to feel as an inconvenience and even worse when my dad struggled to remember his home number. We were told to wait over the side by a young gentleman wearing a radio (believe he was the manager) and we were left there for almost 10 minutes as they claimed to be looking for a table - never knew Monday nights got so busy for a table of 4! A while after waiting we were approached by a lovely young girl who asked if we were ok, and in following found us a table straight away, and even brought some water and menus over for us. The food was delicious and the staff despite the disappointing beginning were very hardworking. One suggestion is for everyone to wear name badges so I can properly thank them! The girl who took our food order was so patient and the bartender even helped us take the drinks out ... what amazing service! As we were leaving the same girl who helped us find a table (short and brunette she also had radio but couldn’t be sure) gave us a huge smile and said goodbye and even helped us book another day! Please thank the staff who helped, as it was the first time my dad (who has early onset dementia) went out in public since Covid started and he felt so safe and happy when he left (not to mention full!)
G.
Great place for lunch. Food is great and the variety of beers and wine is vast.
N. A.
The place is amazing. Their bottomless brunch and high tea options are amazing.
There is such a challenge for parking, I had to get someone to drive me to my car as I had to park a long way away. Otherwise 5 stars.
M. D.
Customer service is out of this world! The team at the Gov is incredible and the hotel itself is in a class of its own.
The food is always cooked to perfection and the cocktails are packed full of flavour! It's nice to see a pub that has it all under control - especially considering the COVID Restrictions.
The team at the Gov has really gone above and beyond with their sanitising and I feel really comfortable dining at the venue.
Keep it up Governor - Other hotels should take some notes!
A.
Went to the Governor to watch UFC263 and the hospitality was first rate. The drinks were great value and the food/menu was appetisingly good. Will be booking again for UFC264.

Great food, enjoyed the atmosphere!

The reason I gave 3 instead of 1 was only because despite the absolute mess we were stuck in - the staff at the Governor are some of the best I've ever met. We had a table upstairs on Saturday 20th during the lunch time to celebrate my birthday, and what started lovely turned into not even being able to see the bar as a flood of people came in. I requested table service as it took over 20 minutes to get to the front of the bar, however who I believe to be the manager on duty, he said "not possible we are too busy"... that was the problem. I then saw another lovely young woman who was clearing the floor (bright pink vest) and asked if there was another manager on. She then left and a manager by the name of Rosemary (or Rommie I'm not sure sure) came and spoke to us - all I can say is its the little things. She apologized and explained to us that it was a wake for someone who had recently passed, and instead of leaving it at that she organised us a spot down stairs instead and even helped carry the drinks to the table. About an hour later she returned and informed us that it had calmed down a little upstairs and offered us to go back up in which we declined only because we preferred the new spot. I understand things come up and service can be slow sometimes, but good service shouldn't be stopped. Thank you to the two women who helped us have a good day. Can't wait to try it again!
A. J.
The atmosphere in this place is really nice. The decor is fantastic. I wouldn't have expected a place this nice to be in a location like Macquarie Park.
It's a great place for a meeting, lunch or dinner and drinks. I would highly recommend The Governor Hotel. Really impressed.
E. S.
We celebrated my baby girl baptism on Sunday and can only say good things about the place, the food and mostly the customer service. It was amazing. The food was really tasty and good quality. Everyone was helpful, polite and really make the celebration even better.
All the guests shared with me the
Highly recommend it.

The governor hotel has the perfect setting and atmosphere for get togethers. Bottomless brunch was amazing and great value. The staff provided great and friendly service. Will definitely recommend and come back :)
A. P.
Wonderful meal and great craft beers
S. Y.
Great pub excellent experience from the front door. Great sign in using the app getting members discounts. Food and Beverage both of the highest standards. Very well appointed and helpful and friendly staff. Would give them more than 5 stars if I could.
A. S.
This place is really stylish. Service was quick and the food fresh, hot and delicious.
D. D.
A fine establishment, there are definitely enough reasons to come back.
What's good: decor is nice, fresh, and clean. Lighting is spot on. Staff all excellent and helpful. Trivia host is good. Good selection of drinks.
What's not so good: Chicken schnitzel didn't come with gravy/sauce, I thought the kale slaw would taste better with some dressing, and was quite dry. Cheese burger also felt a bit plain. Could do with a couple of other burger options (burger with the lot maybe). Limited parking, if on site fills up then street parking is metered until 7pm from what I saw. Would be good if designated overflow parking could be organised. If it gets busy at the rear bar, doors that lead to the area start to get blocked and there's no way around it as far as I could see.
J. B.
Really nicely fitted out place with friendly staff and a good beer selection. Plenty of little private spots for a function. Food is pretty decent - standard pub fare, slightly more pricey than usual. Overall, a good place to hang out for a few drinks. We'll be back!
K. W.
Had an awesome experience here with a party of 30 for a business networking dinner social event. Everything from organisation, responsiveness, and planning in preparation for the event was easy and seamless - thank you Anya! The event itself was well run, the food was sensational, the service was prompt and the staff on the night were informative, helpful, transparent and extremely organised. Our team had a great time! Thank you for a well run night and we look forward to coming back - we found it great value for money!
J. S.
Best time at bottomless brunch. They go all out here and service is amazing. Josh and Anya really know how to put on a great day for you to enjoy. Service by Nicole was superb and Alex is a highly skilled mixologist.
Jessie took us home on the courtesy bus and happily played WAP on request.
C. L.
Hotel is very lovely and has good atmosphere. The wait staff are super helpful and go above and beyond to make your evening a good night. We had the tacos for dinner and a pizza and they were delicious! Highly recommend!
P. A.
Ok, just a couple of things. Maybe you should erect a screen to hide your chefs smoking in the back where the bins are. Not a good look. Also if you are going to serve your cheeseburger rare, you need to get your staff to ask how they would like to patties cooked. Other that that the service was good.
G. P.
Great atmosphere for a family gathering. Food portions were not large for the prices charged, but quality was good. We may come back for another family event at some stage in the future.
J. R.
Amazing!! For a hotel only opened the previous week when we, a party of 16 arrived for our luncheon booking on Sunday found to our delight, happy friendly, SMILING staff who really made our dining experience 5 star. The menu was very well structured and it was apparent a lot of thought had been put into this to ensure a wide variety of not only tastes being catered for but also at very reasonable prices. The delicious meals were beautifully presented and all arrived at the same time and at the correct temperature for that particular dish. The selection of beers and wines is very extensive and the professional bar staff were more than happy to advise especially on the craft beer choices, which didn't disappoint. In conclusion this hotel has a wonderful ambiance and full marks to the manager and his team as it is certainly a credit to all - we will be back.
S.
Great comfy casual dining area. The food was great and a generous portion.
S. (.
Terrific place for a tasty lunch and catch up with colleagues - friendly and helpful service, pub snitty was delicious! Plenty of space between tables too.
N. B.
Don’t bother doing Bottomless Brunch unless Alex is your Mixologist. He is amazing - knows exactly what your taste is and will match you to a cocktail. Definitely a must do at The Governor if you can request Alex! Overall great service, will definitely be booking the Brunch again and requesting Alex.
R. W.
Great cocktails, great food and staff were lovely. Did a last minute booking for a rather large group and they were amazing about it. We had an excellent night.
S. L.
Best place to relax with your friends and family.
C.
My Mrs' had her 30th Bday event here on the afternoon of 13 Dec 2020.
Staff were really accommodating and helpful despite how busy they were.
They made an error with our food order, but rectified it and personally brought the food to our table.
B. F.
Great atmosphere, service and food. Highly recommend & will be back!
j. “. A.
Great pub with great food.
Like the ambiance
S. L.
Had a rippa of a time at the Governor. The glasshouse kept the sun in but the wind out. Zara set the scene from the start, Josh bent over backwards to accommodate. But Alex was the star. He knows his drinks and knew how to read people and recommend drinks. 5/5 would recommend!
B. S.
Absolutely incredible experience. Best customer service I've experience in a long while, my partner and I were greeted at the door but a very affable host (we then went to talk about business - I'm a mural artist and saw an opportunity to create some work for myself). We were given a brief tour, then welcomed by another waitress, she was witty and very welcoming. At the bar, both bartenders had extensive knowledge of their drinks and menu. One bartender went above and beyond, firstly with the best Espresso Martini we've ever had, then with his caring nature. Incredible experience all round, and that's without mention how amazing the interior styling is.
A. M.
Booked a table and decided to cancel due to the increase in covid cases in Sydney at the moment. The team at the Governor easily took the cancellation without any charge. Brty understanding. No problems. So nice and easy.
Will definitely be rescheduling. It is this kind of goodwill that goes a long way. Good work team!
A. M.
Interesting place with an abstract decor. Food really good though prices are higher than normal. Will be back!
R. H.
Friendly helpful staff, great service, great food, good vibe.
A. O.
Great venue in an area lacking in decent bars. The food was nice enough and staff friendly and efficient. Only downside is the price of certain drinks, charging $20 for a single shot of a 10 year old whiskey and generally their cocktails are on the expensive side.
R. O.
The Governor is a great (undiscovered) venue .. just a walk down from Macq Centre, Mac Uni, and Train station. Excellent Bistro, really nice staff, and large rooftop bar with cool dj. Went there with a group of friends and had a great Friday night out. Like a city venue in a suburb location !! Go there and try it.
S. E.
It was the first time I'd been there. And a fairly brand new hotel. Very nice decor. I saw some unusual items on the menu. I ordered something that I wasn't sure of. I took half home. It was mostly made of cold fried eggs and a spicy salad.
They need to put a more VISIBLE sign showing on the Ladies Toilets Door. Not just the Fire Hydrant sign.
L. F.
I loved the outdoor roof top area- it's the perfect place to catch a cool Summer breeze. Food, drinks and setting make this a great venue to catch up with friends.
T. P.
Great staff who are always very friendly, really nice menu with a really good chicken Parmigiana, but also have a great variety. Something for everyone a great spot for everyone in the family to enjoy!
S. A. R.
The fit out is stylish and beautifully done. There are multiple different spaces and areas where you are able to dine and socialise with friends and colleagues - including a great courtyard.
The food is tasty, although slightly on the higher side for what it is. The real disappointment in my experience is there is no table service for food or beverages, despite the abundance of staff waltzing around the place with nothing to do. Staff are more interested in taking your empties away than filling them up - for that, you'll have to hike to the bar and join the back of the line.
Other than that it's great.
L. F.
Okay priced but good quality food
Excellent choice of beer on tap. Was drinking the Asahi Super Drys, not bad. Didn't get a chance to try the roof too bar
D. C.
A good pub with good food. Rooftop bar is a treat.
B. J. O.
Had a great night. Cocktail of day was great. . Fabulous ambience. Drinks on terrace. Then downstairs to eat.
Stayed 3 hours. Fabulous staff! Pleasant, obliging, helpful. Such a change to meet lovely staff!
Book a table! Very busy.
E. T.
Great modern venue which suits all ages.
Fantastic staff and food, and you must check out the great rooftop area.
We'll be back for sure.
J. K.
I recently visited the Gov for the first time with a bunch of friends for their bottomless brunch. Great food, great drinks, great service! Couldn't have had a better experience. Will definitely be visiting again in future!
E. H.
Food was okay. But a vibrant place for hangout.
J. M.
Just had dinner here the other night and all I can say is wow! Courtney was fantastic and really helpful while taking our orders - thanks for the tip on the FB cheesburger it was totally delicious. Pairing this with a classy cocktail made by the bartending guru Alex how can you go wrong! Can't wait to visit again.
A. P.
Great ambiance. Very friendly & helpful young staff. Varied delicious menu altho price is up there. A choice of eating or drinking facilities within the complex. Delightful music suited for socialising & catching up with friends over a cocktail or 2. Most enjoyable.
S. B.
Atmosphere and roof top bar were great. Good quality food but pricey... Plenty of staff but many at downstairs bar appeared inexperienced and generally disinterested in pouring beers... Rooftop bar staff where great! The Governor Hotel has the potential to be a good pub in the future.
L. H.
Love this place!! When theyre quieter the bar staff are happy to make whatever cocktail they can for you and they're DELICIOUS (even got a freebie on my birthday)! The food is great also always with huge serves.
J.
The Hotel is very well appointed. Covid19 practices are top notch. Have had two lunches there in the last week and the food I chose both times were very generous and tasty. Love the intimate cubicles and decor. Will be returning again.
C. R.
The food and drinks were very good and decor was nice. Unfortunately there was not a lot of parking so after being stuck in the parking lot as people were continuing to enter as there was no signage I drove past 5 spots unused but reserved and another 5 blocked by a single car. The side streets weren't much better with most of it being no parking till 8pm. So overall as much as I liked the other things the parking really brought it down so couldn't award 5 stars.
M. T.
Absolutely love this place. Great food. Amazing staff. And just a beautiful place to sit down for a night. Very tasty cocktails downstairs. Recommend their expresso martini and the whiskey sour.
M. A.
Great experience for our daughters first birthday. Staff were great, food was great. Highly recommend this place!
S. K. M.
Menu was restricted due to blackouts and was ID checked sitting at a table after already getting ID checked at the door but other than that the parmy I had was excellent as it was perfectly tender, full of flavour and hit the spot just right, I also liked the ability to close the booth doors to the rest of the restaurant. Overall would go again as the food was amazing
T. N.
Lovely food, beautifully presented, pretty clean.
Travelling from WA and visiting the Govenor for the first time we were unaware of how the restaurant worked.
We weren't greeted or acknowledged by any of the 10+ staff at all. We had to go and find a staff member ask them where we were able to sit, we then noticed it's order at counter (completely fine), then that we had to go and collect our food for ourselves when it was ready; again completely fine but it would have been better customer service if we could have been informed of this by a staff member.
There were 5 of us at a table and we ordered appetizers, they came and while we weren't even half way through the appetizers, the buzzer on out table was going beserk we then had to find a staff member to help us clear dishes off the table to make room for our main meals.
The service wasn't that great at all. And the food was nothing over the moon outstanding to compensate for the lack of service received. Probably won't go back when visiting Sydney and definitely won't be recommending to friends or family.
M. S.
Great place that has been really well designed with multiple areas, a great sports bar area and fantastic staff, service and food.
Is a little more expensive that your normal pub but the quality is well worth it.
A real little hidden gem.
S.
Dear Governor,
T’was the night before Saturday, and us gentleman turned up to your establishment to meet some of the finest ladies Macquarie Park had to offer. To our surprise Holly, the gentlemaam circa the entrance, informed us that the rooftop bar was at capacity.
Atlas our night was in shambles! So we rested our weary feet in the glass house and drank our sorrows away. For our pleasure, we asked Holly to turn on the television to watch the foxtel sports.
She obliged to provide us with the remote, but yet she did not! We proclaimed our frustration to her and she realized he forgetfulness, mouthing the words “oh shiver me timbers I forget thee”
Well well well... Holly’s promise prevailed and everything went well.
She asked for us to leave a google review and to be generous with our declaration, so here we are..
Much thanks
Steve and Co.

First time .. staff were really friendly! Just put 20 in the pokies and had a quick schooie after work . Was asked if I would like some food while I was playing which was really great service. Would definitely return next time to try the food.
K. M.
Food was awesome a little expensive but.
Don't like ordering a steak and that's all you get. So if you want green you pay extra
OMG the meat is not cheap. So.the staff are so helpful and friendly.
Not Alot of parking, do you might have to park a mile away if you can't get close.
N. A.
Rooftop has best views and perfect for a warm night . Can get very busy and need more stand up round tables to place your food. Food service is slow. Good mix professional crowd who there to chill but now starting to overcrowd at night with too many young people some appear too cocky and in the future expect trouble to start (eventually ruining it for all by bringing in heavy handed security - security need stamp out the loud mouthed , bullying types early in the night)
E. C.
Always such a great atmosphere, awesome food and service. It's become the go to to meet up with friends and family even though it's not in our direct area!!
C. A.
This is a (currently) hidden gem in North Ryde. A huge place with lots of places to go and enjoy yourself. Great food and drinks. Had one too many Aperol Spritzes...
As summer is approaching the rooftop bar is a great place to have a few sherbets with friends and family. Just stay COVID safe, peeps!
D. “.
Very average. I had the salmon main, very bland tasting no real flavour at all.
Also very expensive for the level of service, you get given a buzzer and have to collect your meal yourself. And sort out your own cutlery.
All in all very disappointing, much better places outside of North Ryde.
P. S.
Great pzzas. Great atmosphere.
C. P.
Love the food and the ambiance ! Been here afew times with friends . Celebrated a birthday too.. staff are very helpful and accomodating for the surprise !

Life is full of ordinary pubs, this is another one.

Great for chilled out drinks or even formal events to celebrate. generally full of local residents or workers in the area.
I attend on Tuesday nights for Trivia and Friday Night for drinks and Dinner
Pro's
Great Atmosphere and lovely staff, you feel welcomed straight away when you walk in. The Crowd that attends are generally easy going and you can chat with anyone. Never seen any hotheads or trouble makers there so you feel safe with good company.
The food is pretty good and they are happy to accommodate to your catering if you have an event. Same at the Bar, i have allergies and they always work very cautiously when making my drinks. They have a courtesy bus, if you call before hand they can organise to pick you up,
Con's
Parking is terrible, Traffic in the area is terrible. if you are heading there after 5pm, you will have difficulty with traffic. The parking lot is very small and nearly always full, there is a little parking lot to the side which is always full aswell. Best bet is to take the courtesy bus or park on Wicks Rd, MP. [Ticketed]
Food, although good, very pricey for the area and the size. to put it in perspective, they charge $3.00 for Garlic Aioli. you could be spending up to $100.00 for two meals and two cocktails.
They got rid of $6.00 Margarita and $3.00 Tacos on Friday nights which is tragic in it self.
The special elevator for less mobile persons [disabled] often is out of service which means if you are in a wheelchair you cannot access the rooftop. Smokers are shunned all the way into the corner on the rooftop which doesnt make sense as its outdoors and makes you feel like trash [intentionally?]
All up, its great hangout for after work drinks or some mediocre celebration, the issue i have is Cost / Parking / Accessibility otherwise it would be a nice place to go to for lunch & it may be different for families.
M. W.
Well priced and excellent quality food. Friendly helpful staff and lovely decor. Loved the dining booths.
P. K.
Nice bar/pub - slightly more up market than the norm, great roof top bar. Would be really nice in the summer, if it's not warm wrap up and enjoy
H. H.
Fast service, decent food, nice rooftop bar. Staff were efficient but not very hospitable and friendly ...
S. R.
Thought we'd try the Governer out the other night. After reading about the amazing chef led bistro I booked a table for 2 for my wife and I. When we arrived we we're shown to the sports bar - we literally sat next to the bar - and told to order at the counter, and then given a buzzer to collect our own meals from another counter. The food was actually good and the venue itself is great, but there is a mismatch on reality vs expectations when it comes to service / type of experience.
T. D.
Awesome venue!!! The staff go the extra mile and the food is delicious as are the cocktails. Also the security guys are so caring and make sure you get your Uber home safely. Will be back!!!
R.
Amazing rooms, great atmosphere, fantastic service. Food was yummy .
Ive very rarely been to big establishments where the staff treat the customers with respect and constant smiles.
Jack i hope i remembered his name correctly who was around checking in on us was soo lovely to my parents who constantly wanted a chat was soo patient and kind. Always smiling.
Wish we had a place up on the coast like this. Well done cant wait to come here again . Really nicely designed and relaxing we ordered the
wagu beef
Margarita pizza
Salt and pepper squid
chicken parmi
Kids burger and chips
All meals were tasty and well cooked
Also impressed with the clean facilities especially accessible for my disabled son. ❤💛💜💙💚🧡👍👍👍👍👍
If i could give 10 stars i would.
D. L.
Random vibe and place as it attracts an eclectic crowd. But happy hour margaritas on the roof top is great.
It’s just an over sized bistro, where you have to order food at the counter, and collect it once your buzzer alerts you- not great value considering the lack of service
D. P.
Good vibes, nice rooftop bar
T. S.
The staff are friendly, the atmosphere is great and the food is good (a bit pricey). Although, In order to get the members discount you have to download the app (which is called Momento as its not well advertised). The app seems to be in low-fidelity prototype stage and is frustrating to use. Would rather a simple plastic card (or I suggest giving people paper codes to load onto stocard). Also, It can be very difficult to get a booking. I'm glad to see investment into a beautiful space and I'm looking forward for the teething problems to be resolved.
C. S.
Nice newish venue. Friendly staff and security. Meal options are varied, innovative and for what I had, certainly did not disappoint. Has a rooftop bar but wasn't open at lunchtime. Will be going back for sure.
M. A.
Large space for having after work drinks and a meal. Food and drink options were pleasantly varied but pricey. Came here on a very hot day and was nice and cool inside. There is also a rooftop bar which sounds great but it wasn't open due to the heat.
A. N.
Nice place. Nice food. Friendly staffs.
R. L.
Good food. However, my friends and I were disappointed with the 'tiny' size of the Chef's special Salmon meal we had today. 'Tiny' is an understatement; definitely not worth the price. Otherwise, nice place to chill out.
H. E. M.
Really liked the ambiance. Good food and drinks and friendly service. Highly recommend. Ideal for drinks after a hectic week.
E. A.
Nice and beautiful rooftop bar and restaurant.
f. t.
Place is okay, but is located in a quiet area of Macquarie park and there is not much else around the area.
Parking onsite is a bit confusion too, there's signs that all say VIP member parking only so it does not seem they want guest to park and provide no other parking spots.
Was unable to goto the rooftop due to the rain, and dined downstairs.
Food was average, ordered the MS8 rump medium, it was not rested long enough and still had blood dripping. It definately was not as fatty as you would expec tg from a MS8. The tomatoes that came with it were nice and very acidic to help cut the richness of the meat but they only gave 2 tomatoes which definately was not enough and the dish does not come with any other salad.
My friend ordered the gnocchi which did not look appealing at all, they were unable to finish the dish.
J. E.
Always packed at lunchtime on a Friday! The vibe and service is great, but the food a little hit and miss. Have had some fantastic meals there as well as some not so good ones.
The rooftop bar is lovely.
L. R.
Great food. Great drink...and looks fabulous inside and out. Fantadtic rooftop bar available. It's a great place have a couple of drink after work and meet up with friends. 5/5 star. Worth the visit.
S. N.
Great venue, awesome staff and great drinks menu. Only small let down is the food so often falls short of everything else around it. The tastiest thing on the menu, brisket Ramen, was taken off and replaced with a mediocre beef pho.
A.
Awesome place.. just location isn't the best
A. J.
Food was average. We started at the rooftop bar. Entry was refused to one of our party wearing dress shorts. It was 28 degrees and girls in short shorts were admitted. These guys are going to loose business big time come summer.
L. S.
A hidden gem when it comes to restaurants, honestly had the best chips and steak I have ever had and the price was not even that high, would definitely go again. The location although is quite odd and you may not even think you are in the right place when you arrive, but my goodness is the trip worth it.
G. W.
Great atmosphere, friendly staff and clean, modern amenities.
T. O.
Dhwanil and Abhi are the most amazing staff members. They made us feel so welcomed and their service was extremely impressive. I will definitely go to the Governor again due to these gentlemen.
P.S. they made a mean cocktail
L. S.
The place has a great vibe, the food wasn't fantastic, had the crispy pork belly that wasn't that crispy and way too fatty and greasy. The squid could have more flavour, which was saved by the aioli. Cocktatials were on the other hand very good
N. S.
Wonderful place for lunch. Lovely atmosphere and Covid safe. Food was delicious. Very clean. Friendly staff. Definitely will be returning.
p. M.
We’ve made this our favourite destination around where we live. Modern atmosphere, excellent food, great concept, and friendly staff. I would suggest walking around first and seeing the many rooms and decor. Venture upstairs as well and then find an area that suits you best. Also, download the Momento app and you’ll save by being a member :) tell the staff before placing your order!
G. D.
Went For bottomless brunch & had Alex waiting us - on top of the great service he provided, he made the experience and time there that much more memorable!
Would highly recommend going here to celebrate a special occasion :)
C. S.
Great ambience, comfortable environment and convenient location in Macquarie Park. The food and drinks menu are exquisite and gourmet. The Governor hotel is a great restaurant to have relaxing time with friends and family. Definitely recommend.
C. B.
Great food and great vibes!! Cocktails are amazing.
F. M.
Great drinks and drink specials, decent vibes and good staff.
H. K.
I thought the atmosphere was nice and that the food was quite good.
I went out for a meal with a large group of colleagues and ordered a medium rare Wagyu Rump steak, as did several of my colleagues. When my steak came, it was definitely more on the well done side of medium. Seeing as my colleagues all had very juicy and well cooked medium rare steaks, I, rather appologetically, sent mine back, commenting that it was not how I had ordered my steak. The waitress was kind and polite enough to take it back, returning with a new, rather delicious look steak. What bothered me, was that she told me that the chef had cut the previous steak in the middle and found that it was in fact cooked to a medium rare standard. She said that I was unable to tell that it was medium rare because I had cut it on the edges which cook faster.
I found this extremely condescending, as if she thought I had never eaten a steak before and didn't know what I was meant to expect? I actually cut the new steak as close to the edge as possible, to prove a point, and it was immediately clear that it was medium rare and a massive improvement to the previous one.
I also wonder what she expected to get out of this awkward comment, trying to embarrass me infront of my colleagues? I got my second steak, which was an absolute delight to eat, yet she managed to put this establishment and herself in a terrible spot light infront of 20 or so people. As you can imagine, her one condescending, inaccurate and unnecessary comment became the talking point and joke of our evening out. From this situation alone, I wouldn't recommend this pub to any friends of mine.
S.
Food was fine, drinks were pricey though probably normal for these days. Like the booths and decor.
R. v. H.
Lovely place to have a meal and celebrate with family and friends. Good food and great service. Clean, open venue. Would recommend.
S.
Amazing venue, super spacious and a good selection of food & drink. My 3 stars is because of the menu pricing (members & visitors); no one is able to become a member yet so everyone has to pay higher price. Also, in this day and age, there is no reason to charge eftpos & amex surcharges; this should’ve been worked into pricing beforehand.
M. M.
Good food and great beer selection. Special thank you to Rebel for accommodating us all afternoon! Your the best 😁
C. H.
I wish I could rate the top kitchen separately to downstairs, because downstairs has an absolutely unreal selection and are so friendly and accomodating, and although the staff upstairs are always lovely aswell, the kicthen are my accomodating to any dietary requirements. I felt like I was asking for a huge favour when requesting for anything to be made vegan (even pizza with no topping) haven’t been back since.
S. E.
That is the second time in 2 months I have been invited to have lunch with friends at your Governor Hotel. I was able to get a disability parking spot right outside your front door. And the building is nicely designed, the decor is rather nice. The staff are courteous and friendly, helpful etc. But your prices are Over The Top ! I enjoyed the atmosphere my friend's and the group company there today for lunch. I ordered the Slow Braised Wagu Ragu (beef) with pappardelle pasta and buffalo mozzarella cheese. For a start $31 was VERY over the top for a pasta with a little bit of beef ! I'm guessing it was basically 85% pasta, 5% meat, 5% mozzarella and maybe 5% wine and meat juices with maybe a sprinkle of parmesan cheese on top? At that price, I would like at least 15% more meat and 15% less pasta.
At least it was better than the meal I had last time, which was that weird Thai cold fried egg they called a Poke? Yuk. I was well and truly poked by paying for that rubbish !
Today, I couldn't find a list of beverages on the menu you have on each table, so how can we choose what coffees or teas to have? So I just had to ask my friend to get me a strong cappuccino. How do we choose? What do you make? I have no idea, because you don't give us anything to choose in your menu. I couldn't even find the menu and prices online for your beverages? How do I know how to pick what beverages you have and their prices? So I gave my friend $5 to get me a strong cappuccino, there wasn't any change? Is that how much you charge for one regular size strong cappuccino? I don't know because beverages are not listed on your menu? And I paid $17.00 for one Gin and Tonic today, and I was totally shocked !! That is THE MOST I HAVE EVER PAID FOR A single GIN & TONIC drink ! One Shot. How can that be POSSIBLE ? That is almost the cost of a whole bottle of straight Gin !
I asked the barman how much for a straw, and he was being sarcastic and said $20.
I usually pay $8.00 for a Gordons Gin with Tonic, slice of lemon, in a hotel in Dee Why or Brookvale. That's where I live, on the Northern Beaches. And you think we're the "Silvertails"? You're kidding ! Yesterday at our lunch, I bought 2 tall Gin and Tonics with slice lemon, at the Terrey Hills Tavern for $17.00, one for me and one for my friend, that's $8.50 each. A much better price, and we only pay $6.10 in The Builder's Club, DY and local RSL Clubs, but I don't expect you to go that low.
So Luke, you'll need to impress me a whole lot more next time, if you want me to praise your Governor Hotel food and drink to others, and for me to keep coming back, and for me to encourage others to want to come to your LOVELY MODERN DESIGN hotel at all !
Or are you preferring just to cater to the YUPPIES, SHARPIES, the higher income younger generation? And you're not really aiming to cater to the general public, the average income people, their friends, their families, the mature age parents, the pensioners etc? As I have found that your food and alcohol prices are extremely high!
I think you would be better to price a little lower to encourage US ALL to come back more often for value. Then your Bistro tables would be filled with more people on a Sunday lunch time, not half empty like it was today.
D. S.
Newish Pub here ....good atmosphere, younger crowd, child friendly and great food . Don't expect cheap prices, its $$$ cost. City priced beer Asahi $13
N. W.
Lovely roof terrace for drinks & plenty of space for large groups. Sweet potato fries are great too!!
A. B.
Big place with good atmosphere, good food. My only real complaint is that there is a speaker in each booth and its a bit too loud for my taste. Makes it hard to talk to people across the table.
n. p.
I had my first Business Lunch at the Governor and was a great experince
certainly place where you can hear each other with great Food and Service
looking forward to be host my next business lunch meeting at the Governor.
Thank you.
r. l.
Beautiful place yummy food!
D. H.
Me and my friend's went to the hotel last night for dinner the atmosphere was great the food was really nice and the bar stuff were really professional but the one problem I have is carrying 3 plates of food up 4 flights of stairs they should bring it to you just would be a lot more professional then making the customer struggle climbing 4 levels I find it very wired it tells me they don't care or just stupid and lazy
D. s.
Can’t beat the service and food. Meals abit pricey.
S. A.
Very well decorated and nice multi level pub in modern repurposed building. Not enough parking on weekends. Food a bit overpriced and not as good as you'd expect for this price. Overall nice place.
Z. L.
A place with great atmosphere & beautiful view at the roof top. Good variety of Japanese beer and whiskey. The bar food is also above average & not too expensive.
J. W.
This is a great corporate venue. Not really close to anything by foot. Great fit-out and also pretty tasty food. We seem to be heading here more frequently for our team lunches.
N. H.
Great place for corporate and personal functions alike
C. A.
Went there for a work function and had an amazing time. The bar, wait and managerial staff were all fantastic.
M. W.
A fabulous night birthday celebration., chilly though, the gorgeous Nicole warmed us with her beautiful manner and also brought us a heater and a new gas bottle was needed! Above and beyond the call of duty, thank you Nicole
P. R.
Great service, friendly staff, relaxed atmosphere for a catch up after work drinks
A. F.
Great food, service and atmosphere whether it be for a casual drink or sit down dinner.
E. L.
A very stylish venue with great food and friendly staff members. Whether you are looking for a simple lunch catch up or a romantic dinner date or even just for a girl's night, it caters for all.
J. S.
Quite a grand building, impressive looking from the outside. Interior is interesting with loads of different vibes and decor. The food was amazing, and the staff super friendly. Definitely going back!
M. N.
Good facility for drink, dine n fun
G. K.

J. M.
Good place to wind down and catch up with mates and fam
J.
Good classic Sydney pub/bar food and upmarket vibes
C. N.
Great service and atmosphere :)
N. D.
LOVED it! Great ambience, delicious food (gluten free pizza didn't taste gluten free but was:) & really friendly staff- will definitely be recommending to others!
P. C.
Good beer choices, but we went to watch the AFL Grand final and there was only one small screen. The roof top bar didn't open on time either.
M. b.
The Governor is a great restaurant / bar / pub in the heart of Macquarie Park. Good for causal get togethers on the roof top and also good for a business meeting in the many private spaces.
M. G.
Amazing ambiance i would say! Food choice was on a lesser side but I cant complain much as it is a Pub after all . But we were very happy with what we ordered.
F. B.
First time at this hotel. Went for work lunch function. Nice venue, some of our group commented on the animal decor. I had the beef bowl. Very tasty.
V. L.
It has good pub food. Huge roof top bar. Not a bad place. The only decent place in the Mac Pk area for a after work drink.
c. w.
Very nice place.
Modern and newly firnished.
Food was good to.
In the summer they should get a DJ.
Message me if interested in a DJ Governor Hotel i can play music that will create the perfect vibe.
C. L.
Good size venue on the bottom and great bar staff and host staff; however, was quite disappointing that the rooftop bar was closed when I went there. Will give it another go next time the rooftop is open.
D. B.
Real upperclass pub, food and beer options are great. Really nice decor. Location is pretty industrial. Plenty of parking service is average
N. T.
Great casual drinking pub around Macquarie Park! They have expanded to have a roof top bar as well! Top food is the cheese burger with chips.
S. K.
Great place for some where to go after work.. I went for Father's day and the staff were fantastic. Loved the ribs and the family loved the chicken burgers.
I. L.
Very nice environment. I think the food is not as nice as the place. It is normal pub food. Food is a bit expensive for the quality. Rooftop is really nice area. Rooftop is hard to find but worth an effort.
S. S.
Unique spot with a nice windy rooftop, friendly staff and decent share plate menu. Loved the little graffiti and art work on the walls adding a rustic touch to the place
C. Y.
Love the atmosphere, enough options to keep the table busy with drinks and food.
K. T.
Best service and cocktails around!
A. B.
Beautiful venue. The rooftop bar is a great place to relax and enjoy a few drinks
R. W.
Really impressed with this new venue. Food was excellent and the decor adds to the atmosphere.. would recommend for a group dinner or a function
D. K.
Staff were very friendly, good was great and served very quickly. Atmosphere was perfect. Great night for a celebratory family dinner.
B. R.
Great place never been before, but will definitely be back again.
D. F.
Staff were very friendly and helpful especially the girl taking the food orders. Food was really good but a little overpriced.
W. K.
The Governor Hotel was very enjoyable. Nice food and a great place to have a few beers.
Y. t.
Excellent place in the heart of Macquarie Park. Place is huge with multiple levels and offers lot of privacy. Parking is issue and there are limited places in the front. If you're nearby and can walk, leave your car behind.
S. H.
Incredible atmosphere. Lots of different spaces each with their own vibes. Great food.
S. W.
Inside is nice. Good food. Drinks are a bit pricy. Upstairs rooftop bar looked great but was closed for some reason.
T. G.
Nice place and yummy food.
D. N.
Great venue for a Sunday family lunch. Great food & service, has always be on our family's preferred venue!
T. D.
Very beautiful environment and I love the rooftop especially. The waiters are very nice and professional.
J. K.
Nice layout. Wait staff were great and bouncers friendly. Usually booked out for lunch and food is way too expensive. Been there a few times and they always seem to have run out of certain dishes.
J. N.
We had a great evening at The Governor Hotel - the food was fantastic, the service was excellent and they have created a lovely atmosphere. We will definitely be going back ....
D. W.
Nice place. Parking is very limited.
Limited meal choices ($$$), good range of drinks($$-$$$).
M. D.
Great food and service, very friendly. The courtesy bus is also a great service
M. D.
Great bar for lunch and after work. Multiple bars and seating areas, including roof top bar. Food is reasonable but a little expensive, same as the drinks.
A.
Recently went here for a work lunch. The food and drinks are amazing, and the environment has taken the correct covid procedures.
B. G.
Good variety of beer, good surroundings and ample serves of food. Could do with a little more parking space.
T. P.
Great food and beer, always busy but service still decent. Roof top bar open a bit more during the xmas season too.
T.
Great pub! Good food and good service. Can get a bit busy upstairs at the rooftop bar though.
H. C.
Surprisingly good 👍
N. B.
Wow what an amazing venue, just what Macquarie Park needed ! I visited with work friends this week, the staff were so friendly, the food was fresh and delicious and the bar tenders recommended we try the signature cocktails which were the bomb ! Can't wait to go back :)
M. C.
Nice venue. They have salsa on the rooftop from 3pm on Saturdays. We're still waiting for other dancers to arrive!
D. P.
Great place. It's big and bold, sort of a modern take on a traditional Sydney pub.
Food is resturant quality and priced accordingly. Would go back.
E. C.
Nice roof top bar and restaurant. Reasonable prices. Great hang out spot!
J. L.
Could be an amazing venue, great food and drink in a stunning space that isn't drowned out by the noise of a small Mexican man yelling hot chilli (something people from the area have been begging for) but for some reason each time I've attempted to enjoy a night there management or security have been on a hell bent mission to stop myself and many other people who they seem to target demographically on social media and other platforms from spending any money there.
If you're looking to visit I'd advise you wear your best tuxedo and maybe rock up in a limousine. Otherwise I'd say you have about a 50/50 chance of entering.
F. F.
I didn't know this place existed before I went there for a work farewell. Great space, beautifully furnished and reasonably priced. Ideal for work drinks or lunches.
M. C.
Probably the best place in the Ryde area for a catchup a meal and a chat. Slightly pricey food and drinks. However, ambience and feel of this place is great! Highly recommended!
J. T.
Very nice, never heard of corn ribs before, but very yummy. Mid range prices.
A. R.
Great atmosphere! Music, friendly staff and the best Mojitos
j. i.
Aj I think her name is, best gaming hostess I have ever come across. Beer is expensive af.... but the place has a nice feel about it
J. f.
Great friendly service food was great atmosphere always buzzing great for groups. The menu selection is small but all very nice.
D. H.
Good hangout place. Can be better in terms of cleanliness.
A. D.
Love the food! Great ambience & it's a pub with a kick!
D. N.
Food was alright but came out lukewarm not hot for me and all my friends. Service and atmosphere still gets a tick.
I. S.
I must have selected one star by mistake, I'll give you 4 stars !
S.

soulja boy played all night what more do u want
let me crank that soulja boy
C. C.
You cannot find many good bar/restaurants in this part of the city. And this one is a really good one for family and friends events.
A. P.
Enjoyed the drinks and food on the rooftop bar!
N. G.
Massive mega pub in the middle of nowhere. No idea how they make any money. However, had a cracking all-dayer there so can't complain. Not too crowded. Friendly staff.
D. S.
Great Service, Fast clearing, Delicious Food. Pretty big selection of Alcohol also. Will definitely be back.
K. I.
Nice rooftop, clean pub. Decent pub food but quite pricy. Liked the the large pizza but $25 for it was a bit steep.
C. D.
Hippest place in Ryde. The rooftop is great for cocktails.
M. V. D.
Nice modern bar with lovely food. Great space for after work drinks and/or dinner. Has a rooftop bar also 👌🏾
J. W.
Really big and super clean place, though prices are on the steeper side (burgers starting at $20) and parking is very limited unless you're a VIP.
D. W.
Excellent food efficient service
D. D. J.
Love this bar.. great food and great atmosphere. Doesn't matter if Ur there for 2 or with a larger group.
N. A.
Eggplant chips were great but beer price a bit steep.
A. R.
Love the place... best food.. best service .. especially from Nicole.. went above and beyond to ensure our heater worker and we were happy.. to Nicole!!!!
C. G.
Nice meal and setting.
S. G.
Nice looking venue and okay service.
Menu has much to be desired.
Drinks prices are wildly absurd.
M. M.
Great visit last night for dinner -- online booking easy - friendly welcoming staff following all Covid requirements - Wagyu steaks all cooked perfectly
