Comments of The Marlborough Hotel

THIS REVIEW IS PURELY FOR FAT BELLY JACKS. Marly is an alrite bar nothing great but inside it lives A hidden gem called Fat belly jacks, and that place deserves all the stars. Had the tenders their last night and the hot chicken burger with blue cheese sauce. This was our second visit, the first time I tried their fried chicken which was also great it’s just that the portion size was a bit small. But all in all this is hands down the best Nashville style burger I’ve had ever. Like this is it. The tenders were bomb, super spicy. Just needed a bit more salt or chicken salt on it. Everything else was perfect. The fries were fresh, hot, seasoned well, and crispy! Fat belly jacks definitely needs it’s own store in Newtown. For real tho. We were super captivated by the food and forgot to take pictures, but I got one of my tenders later just to show how perfect it looked. And a shout out to the chef in the kitchen last night, we were the last customers ordering food and I asked the dude a million questions about the tenders before ordering. He was super helpful 🙌🏼
T. K.
A great pub with different areas and levels. Suits the younger crowd and those liking live music. A good selection of beer. Not quiet.
M. H.
Great pub if you like pale ales or ipas. On a rainy day I could really go for a nice dark full malt kind of drink. But the brightness of the beers, matches the joy of our cheers, we finished our exams, now for tasty clams! Good pub. Reasonable to visit.
D. S.
Awesome bar, good vive and people. Only issue: security. They just kick out for no reason, it doesn’t matter if you are not drunk or not bothering or causing trouble. They just select you and throw out. Management should review their security protocols, because its non-sense. When that change, i can rate as 5 stars.
A. E.
One of the rare places in Sydney that's got some sort of vibe most nights of the week.
Fairly youngish crowd during weeknights with a better mix on weekends
G.
Visited mid-afternoon and a pleasant place to have a quiet drink with friends. A small choice of guest keg beers on offer. We didn't eat, so I can't comment on the quality of the food.
Pleasant bar service. Complimentary WiFi. Gaming bar. ATM.
The beer garden/smoking area is one of the best I have seen in a City pub.
C. R.
An iconic pub . Excellent venue to see live music. Unique bars. Terrific food.
O. P.
Awesome service. Great crowd and atmosphere. New courtyard is perfect with the TV added
R. S. B.
Dog-friendly, great menu, great atmosphere and smoking section out the back. The team are always friendly, professional & welcoming! Great place for any time or day of the week. Decent selection of draft beers (occasionally 4 Pines Pale Ale! 😍) and reasonably priced drinks & cocktails!
B. 8.
One of Newtown’s finest pubs, featuring a beer garden, top class dining and sports bar area. Popular on weekend evenings for partying but one of the main reasons to go is the food. They have a full plant-based menu too with lots of impressive options that you wouldn’t normally expect to find in a pub. Highly recommended!
E. R.
Security guards helped kick out creeps that were harassing me and my friends. There were ALOT of creepy dudes (not the place’s fault tho) so can’t really give it a 5 star experience but the security guards’ and staff and how they dealt with the situation was great. Drinks also a bit expensive.
P. C.
This Venue is amazing!
Management is great, service beautiful and the entertainment is the best ever!!!
We are making Thursdays our regular night at Marlborough hotel with the music Bingo, the two entertainers are so much fun and laughs!!! They are the main reason for us to go there seriously (apart from the trio of Tacos :P)!!!
P.
Nice environment, staff pretty ok and classic brewed beers, $8 pint and $7 chips, also live music on Fridays
A. H.
Loved it. Another great place to hang out with friends at Newtown.
H. D. H.
Venue is great, outdoor area rules!
I used to go here many years ago from time to time. Went recently and a bit underwhelmed. The food was not the best, wouldn't eat here again. Bar staff gave off disinterested vibes and glassy was either in a bad mood or just aggressive for no reason? I dunno, weird atmosphere all round.
A. W.
The music and vibes are always good, but just don't get the food. Complete ripoff for proportions and quality. Overpriced bar snacks on a street full of amazing food. I expected better.
M. N. M.
Great to get out for a nice cold beer, & friendly staff.
L. B.
Marley is good when it's chill but when it's in club mode it's not that eets
I. S.
Honestly, for someone from Europe, it’s utterly rare to find a good bloody Marry cocktail anywhere in Sydney. This place and barman Ben have definitely defeated my poor expectations for a proper tomato juice and vodka cocktail 🍸 on a Monday afternoon. Highly recommend and certainty, I will be back!
Y. S.
They'll give the dog a bone!
Friendly staff.
Menu is not great vegetarian wise and the Mexican theme doesn't suit the vibe at all... Just my opinion.
But expensive too for what it is.
Otherwise great venue, dog friendly... Only other down side is that it's owned by a horrible company Solotel.
A. D.
Food ok. Trivia night on Wed. Big sports area. Serves food with vegan options. Apple cider on tap.
L. S.
Great pub. Staff are friendly and quick, the outdoor area is spacious and nicely decorated, and the place is open til 4am, even on a Monday. Very well-managed venue
A. A.
If I could give the staff 6 stars I would . The implementing of social distancing while still keeping the beautiful Newtown vibe was just... *chefs kiss*.
The staff were so wonderful and attentive, and just plan amazing humans. Just so helpful and lovely. We had such a wonderful time and will be going back very soon
M.
Staff always have a smile and happy to help. Free food every now and then if your playing pokies.
Due to the current covid rules you have to be seated at all times but supporting the local community is always good!
N. J.
Way to crowded, barely any ventilation inside so once people get going it's hard to get a clean breath if air. Drinks are just a little too pricey as well. However their are some great music options with live bands and DJ in separate areas. The outdoor beer garden is a godsend but with only a limited, and heavily policed capacity of 60, it does mean a long wait is involved just to get some fresh air.
N. G.
Cosy pub with assorted unique beers on tap which alternate. Good, casual atmosphere. Need a bit more choice of ciders and disregard the generic ones
j. p.
Great atmosphere, a hip vibe!
J. L.
Marly Hotel! what can i say, had a blast with me and my pals. How can I get in touch with this marly guy to thank him personally?? Marly Hotel!
J. G.
Don't hit this place up on a Friday or Saturday night if you hate crowds. Every other time outside of this is a great little drinking spot. Had a number of beverages here over the year and their beer selection is great but a Friday and Saturday night will see you trying to find elbow room.
A. S.
One of the most awesome bars in Newtown. The weekends are the best time to head here if you're looking to party. A quiet evening would mostly be on weekdays. The different tap beers are a must try. At 8$ a scooner it's decently priced. Another must try are the different sides which are part of the menu on days it's available. Quality service can be expected here. Only drawback being that only a limited number of people are allowed in the smoking area out back.
G. B.
A visitor from Central Coast. Two weeks ago and this weekend. Had a great time there. Friendly staff. Good beer (Reschs). Will call in again with my family.
A. T.
Hosted an event for 50 people in the Side Bar and it went off without a hitch. Staff were all friendly and helpful and provided above and beyond service. Really happy I held my event here and the DJ, band and Tokyo Sing Song club were all great fun. Had mixed feedback on the food, some great, some average.
R. A.
Love the Marly!
Funky Newtown venue on the corner of Missendon Road with live djs open till the early hours of the morning
The regulars here know they can expect friendly, professional service with a wide range of liquors to choose from, including local beers on tap
The food and snacks are also delicious....large pub size servings....good for sharing, unless you're in the mood for something calorific?!
For those who smoke there is a arge beer garden out at the rear of the premises with jumbo patio umbrellas for shade
J. Z.
Great place for a drink with friends and live music, last time I was there was the Pressure Fest, a great way to promote local bands, it was lots of fun!!
M. C.
This hotel has a serious problem with their sewage drainage which they try to camouflage with deodorizers. Some nights it's just overpowering like last night. Pity as it's a nice pub if you can sit in the beer garden with the smokers. Upstairs it's a great vibe after 5pm and food is good so hence I've given 3 stars.
C. B.
Great vibe and amazing service from the bar. The best thing might have been the fact that it opens till late. The only turn off for me would be that the place seemed kind of small because we had to wait in line in a crowded place to go to the beer garden to smoke. Its probably because it was a Friday night and it was pretty crowded in both the floors. Also, that night the music was not that great and did not really make dancing that fun.
M. S.
Great vibe and atmosphere, bouncers needs to take it easy a bit and ventilation can be better.
Drinks are about what you would expect.
Overall, great spot ... would recommend to a friend.
T. A.
Great atmosphere. Was awesome to visit again after so many years. It has changed a lot but is still a great pub!
M. R.
Really great ambience. The musical bingo there is a great experience. My friends got two jugs of free beer by winning some bingo! Totally worth it!
E. T.
Bouncers here are the best in Newtown, they allowed my friend entry after he accidentally tripped over in the queue. Common sense prevailed, they helped us have a memorable night. Special thanks to the main guy at the front door for assisting us and calling management for the a okay. Other security staff were very polite and easy to deal with.
J. K.
Very yummy food — I didn’t know they had such a good vegan menu until we happened to Google their menu. I don’t think the kale adds much on the nachos.. but in general the nachos were exciting and yum.
I got very sick six hours after eating my nachos though.. not sure if that was from drinking though or was actually the food so I will come back to see.
N. W.
Nice central location, good for a meet up. The drinks are various and they can make a decent cocktail if you get the right bartender. The drinks are well priced. The food however is a little at the steep end for the quantity for money. The quality is hit and miss but if you stick to bar staples you can't go wrong.
M. P.
Excellent pub, it has 3 differents room with different dance. 2 of them mostly refrigerated and one next to a big garden. You can smoke in that garden. Perfect for all styles, Europeans, Latins, Asians, etc. Free entrance. Best days Friday and Saturday, open until really late, and no lockout.
M. B.
Enjoyed a lovely Tuesday night here.
Had the Pepsi (post mix) and did not disappoint! Few ice cubes and in a tall glass. On the nose a sweet vanilla scent,
It had a long finish and the bubbles really came through.
Wonder what gas they use here as want to order in that in for myself?
R. S.
I had come here a few times before but it was actually the first time that I ordered some food and I definitely recommend the nachorito burrito (with chilli con carne and extra guacamole), a pire delight !
W. G.
Not bad. The place is full most of the time and the drinks are ok. Not enough seating but bartender was a hit
c. c.
Loving the new Vegan menu, super yummy! Good spot for early evening beers in the courtyard or the upstairs has a really cute cocktail bar and balcony. Good vibes. <3
N. K.
A nice bar and good staff, but the clientele seem to be the old cross nightclub scene, a lot of clashing personalities and can make for poor vibes.
R. M.
Decent Bar which is like the local of Newtown. Nothing fancy - mainly draught and cider (I wouldn't try a Bond martini order impression nor a rusty nail or something and def not a daiquiri or cosmo. You'd feel the eyes on you drinking that! Spirits are ok but not a wide selection - when I went they didn't know the difference between silver and gold tequila...! Well it's either here or the townie near the station in the running for locals DO NOT go to the dive at end of King near St Peters station especially if female, I think you actually need to be a gronk to be admitted. Personally I'd go to 'the Marly Bar'- much less gronks and smells nicer!! haha
E. W.
Every time I come here I find a different room or garden. This place is huge and split accross various levels, rooms and flights of stairs. I first started coming here for the pool tables but the upstairs beer garden is very nice if a little enclosed. They have a decent array of cocktails and the staff have always been friendly.
C. N.
Love the Marly. Its recent renovations give it a really classy pub vibe while maintaining the same old relaxed atmosphere that everyone loves. Great any time of the day, any day of the week - I usually enjoy a Friday evening here. I have never eaten here but friends have, and say the deals are great.
s. m.
This pub is always very busy, staff and service is good, prices are normal around 8$ a beer. Its good located next to a bus stop in case you have to many drinks.
Its nice how on saturday they have live music, normally good interesting bands.
the bathrooms are good normally you dont have to what to long.
the place is nice always nice interesting people like the new changes.
K. H.
Asked for an altered burger for my brother who has special needs. All the staff accommodated it perfectly and were so kind! Great food & drinks, burgers were delish. Gluten free bun was yum.
K. A.
A nice, convenient pub on the edge of Newtown. Nothing special, but has a lot of space and seating is not usually an issue. Great for post-Sydney Uni drinks and perfect for starting out for a night in Newtown. Prices are reasonable, service is fine. They often have live music on weekends.
J. T. R.
| TOP 3 Newtown's Bar |
Nice bar, good beer and interior terrace decorated with colored lights. One of the best places in Newtown to go for drink beer and have a good time with friends and family.
A. D.
Cheap drinks, hilarious cover bands, great atmosphere and food til 4 am on fridays and saturdays! So much better than a kebab. The music is sick and the new renovations have made it absolutely lovely. The beer garden is a fantastic place for a chat and its still warm even though its outside. A great place to hang out and have a few drinks.
M. M.
Really great atmosphere, designed as a type of Alice in Wonderland garden which is quaint and fun. Good music ranging from top 40 to classics from your childhood. Delicious food with a great deal at lunch. The cocktails are hit and miss though with some flavour combinations not working well.
C. W.
Best bit is the outside courtyard, we hunkered down there in the corner high tables and could be as raucous we wanted without narking the neighbours. Beer was fine. Stupidly overpriced, same as the rest of the country, (it gets to something when the Norwegian guy in our group was complaining about the hit) but fine.
P. U.
During off-peak its a good place for a low key drink and feels like a pub. Menu is very overpriced. Free wifi.
Fri/Sat night is just wankers getting trashed. Unless you want to be one of them, you're better off skipping it then.
J.
Live music, mix of classics, Old school and current. 3 main dancefloors each with their own music sets (Go downstairs if youre feeling groovy). Space is a little cramped but as with all clubs :)
R. D.
This is a fun place with great live music. Main issues is it is where out of towners come and don’t always know how to treat women... also could do with more seating. Otherwise it is a fun place with a great vibe that I really enjoy going to. Lovely staff and great security staff
D. T. (.
Always good when I visit from New York. Though they seem to run out of local beers on tap. All good and a nice atmosphere. Not an water so can't judge there
C.
Has a bit of everything! older style pub at the front, leading to more modern area at the back and quite large outdoor area. Older music played in main areas. Downstairs at the club named Tokyo Sing Song is where the action is at. Free entry and great accepting atmosphere with varying events from week to week.
G. A.
Good pub with a sizeable beer garden. Service and cost are standard pub fare. Beer selection is decent (Young Henry's on tap) and food looked great. About 10 mins walk from Newtown train station and isn't as packed as some places in Newtown can get. We went on a Saturday night and would head back again.
D. D.
Really good bloody Mary's, great for a hang over. Excellent service staff, and chilled atmosphere upstairs. Would recommend for a Comfortable, albeit busy, drink with friends, also try the chips!
B. K.
A Newtown institution! Great food and booze
M. N.
Recently renovated, is now the choice your best choice if you are in the Newtown area and you fancy a night out surrounded by uni students.
Good selection of drink, you should try the upper floor deck!
Live bands all weekend long and a bit of club vibe going on on the lower floor!
S. L.
Friendly hosts, nice pub venue, good place to have a beer on the way home after work.
M. P.
Tater tots with aioli were quite good. Lost the star as the DJ declined my song request, thought that was lame. Other staff were very attentive to my requests. Gambling room attendant was so very into her duties and patrons - she deserves a special shout out.
A. G.
Atmosphere was nice but the music was not really geared towards a queer audience if that's what you're looking for
K. H.
I love having a drink outdoors, and after the refurb, the decked upstairs courtyard area is great. I am more than happy to pay a teensy bit extra on drinks for the atmosphere. Don't be discouraged when you walk in the front door, still has the old-man-pub feel, but venture up the stairs and you'll be pleasantly surprised.
J. R.
Really like the Marly bar! Drinks are reasonably priced, great live music and the garden bar is great! One of my favourite spots after work or on the weekend! Bar staff are always smiling and deliver great customer service! Not tried the food, but it did look great!!
J. C.
Plenty of space in there, and the new back/outside area is really nice. Wine list improved in the process, and the place is now a bit more fancy (in a good way, which is not always the case). Aside from that, typical Newtown pub!
G. S.
I have added a star to my review after another visit. The pub was spotless today and the staff friendly and helpful. Still a little bit pricey but nothing compared to airport prices 😃
D. L.
What a refesfing makeover has been made to the Marlborough hotel. A funky bar and indoor seating area kept in the original façade and an amazing beer garden courtyard. Lots of space for everyone and it would appear to be family friendly.
Lots of beers on taps and not as extensive as 500m down the road which star the become city prices.
I really enjoyed hanging out here with a cold beer. It would seem if Newtown is finally becoming gentrified.
P. N.
The Marly is a fine fallback when everybody in your group can't necessarily agree where else you'd like to go. What makes it stand out is the volume of vegetarian dishes on the menu (which is not my thing, but it's helpful when I want a solid burger and the people I am with are vegos and ALSO want a solid burger). Reasonably priced, but the food won't blow you away. The atmosphere in the indoor beer garden is fun, but the Marly really is a place for locals. If you're from out of town, you'll probably want to try a different suburb.
A. T.
A big venue without a soul. Pretty easy going, you can find a mixture of different kind of people (but the same popular music). It's open until late and there is plenty of room, so it's good to go whenever everything else is closed.
P. R.
The treasure is upstairs on a weeknight when live bands play to an audience there to have fun
L. P.
The Marly has everything you could want in a pub. Weekends have a dance floor downstairs and a newly renovated courtyard is located on the ground floor. The menu is your standard pub grub but is reasonably priced. Mid week trivia and live bands on friday nights give you some options to enjoy a drink/dinner after work. Service is always friendly.
J. A.
Had a great time at Marly bar tonight. Security were friendly and fun and the staff were friendly. It was a quiet night but the beer garden was great. Will definitely be back
Q. M.
The place is great an I like the setting and beer garden, tap beers choice is ok. The big black point is the security agents who are not friendly (if it's not rude).
s. j.
Being from India this was my first ever visit to this place....Music was awesome, drinks were good, yeah you have to wait for smoking area but doesn't matter it's a good open space ...overall satisfied with first visit and definitely will come again during my next Sydney trip..cheers for management..
Love from INDIA guys😍😍
H. D.
So happy they sell Resches Pilsener take away no one sells it, awesome food friendly staff, great place to hang out and the nights go offf.
H. F.
A classic place to kick back after a night of bar crawling through King St. Multiple levels, a good atmosphere, live music and open longer than most places makes this a must visit. The Marly is almost heritage for drinking in the region.
A.
I went to meet my mate at the Marlborough, he was on the pokies... As a rule I never play them but he'd put quite a bit in the one in front of me and gone on to the next... hhmmm... Tempting... SO I PUT in $10. Guess what... My last press gave me free spins ... And $170. 😂🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣😂🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤩🤣
C. F.
The fit-out is kind of disjointed - after a bit of work it has some nice drinking areas, but lacks the authenticity of some of the other great old pubs in this part of town. Nevertheless, anyone who came through USyd will have a soft spot for the Marly. The place to meet before Thai dinner, not so much to spend the night or the afternoon.
S. M.
Always quality food coming out of this kitchen
M. G.
This place is lit. So lit. They make an amazing apple juice vodka. So yummy. I love the different rooms and music. Best lit place in newtown
C. G.
The Marly has a nice selection of beer, really nice outdoor garden-style seating, a solid pub menu. The kitchen is great with allergy issues, which I very much appreciate.
D. M.
Love the outdoor area in this pub, not to mention a massive selection of good and local beers and a goood feed at a decent price.
M. S.
It's our last open meeting and relaxing destination after a long day at work and we love it. The staff is great, the courtyard is always busy but it's such a nice place to sit down and relax.
M. M. G.
The MArly offers good stop off for an early start to a night out. Several bars across several stories means there's many different vibes and ages brackets to mingle with at any one time. Often sporting good local bands and acoustic soloists... There is a sweet sports bar tucked out behind the pokies room, although it can get crowded. There's often AFL or footy playing in the main bar so its a sure thing for any notable sporting event!! Since the refit last year, the restaurant area is quite a pleasant experience, although very smokey in the courtyard later in the evening! Expect to pay $16-25+ for a good quality meal
v. S.
There are two reasons to love The Hotel Marlborough, formerly known as the Marlborough Hotel. Sit in the bright garden themed area on the ground floor, with a drink and excellent pub fare from The Marly Kitchen. Head upstairs after 5pm and tuck into some soul food at Miss Peaches. Great food, right in the heart of Newtown.
D. S.
Unfortunately I moved away from Sydney in the last couple of weeks. But Marly was the 'after work drink location' most nurses on our ward would go here on Fridays. The drinks are well priced and if you work in the area let the team know! Going to miss the Marly Bar!
N.
Fun vibe with cheap drinks and good music. Often gets lively with some really cool themes over the weekend. Great cheap food around and easy access to the Train station and cabs.
p. f.
Not a bad place the malbo, hopefully Matt Moran cleans it up.Not the best place to go late night at the weekends pissed people spilling out, vomiting all over the place and security that are knobs. Girls look at for the convenience store across the road filthy blokes in there.
Malbo big place and renovation s over the years have given it a new lease of life though.young Henry's on tap.oh and the.Bottle shop attached to it.staff are clowns
J. A.
Great place to catch up with everyone after an NLP course 🤣😁
N. C.
Probably a good meeting point if you're moving on to the city or doing a pub crawl down King street. Generally full of uni students and drinkers during the day.
Not exactly near a station but always good to walk up King st. Buses that run through Newtown will stop there, just push the button when you see the massive book shop Goulds.
S. M.
Club which makes everyone happy. There are different sections such as live music,dj and the usual stuff so you can always hop between the areas. Some of the bar tenders make mean drinks and have really got the skills.
D. T.
Nice vibe
E. R.
On a Friday night this place offers fantastic live music and being such a large venue it has a cracking atmosphere. The beer is reasonably priced and staff always happy to help.
P. C.
This pub draws a great cross section of society. I always like the cocktail bar out the back or the bar upstairs to begin with and then heading out the main bar to finish the night dancing to the cover band.
You should at least go here once and visit the kebab shop across Missenden Road afterwards.
T. N. R.
Very chilled out place, especially the outdoor smoking area. But gets WAY too crowded sometimes. Either they need a bigger space or less people need to go there. 😂
M. K.
Lovely pub but bouncers can be extremely rude
M. J.
Friday and Saturday nights never disappoint. Bands and DJ music are decent, esp on a drunkard night out. Booze is affordable.
r. m.
the live gigs are great, the water is easy to get to, the security are attentive and look after hour mates, and the dj notices the vibe of the crowd
C. A.
Went to Tuesday night trivia. What a blast! Not for the purist or those easily offended. Food was great. Service friendly and prompt.
R. T.
still a nice place to enjoy a drink after a long hard days work. located in the heart of newtown with a lot on offer after you are finished there. although the staff are not as nice and friendly since the new ownership.
b. w.
The Marly is an institution of sorts due to its commanding position in kingstreet but inside its very much a regular joe pub. I've had a few meals here and they were fairly decent. When I moved, came with my mates who helped and bought them dinner (lamb shank/salmon dish and pork belly) they were delicious well cooked pub meals. Drinks here in the courtyard area is pleasant enough.
R. T.
I like going to The Marly during the day or on a weekday or an afternoon or at midday. They look after vegans on the menu and there's a very comfortable seat to sit on.
K. C.
If i could give more than 5stars I would. Friday & Saturday live music is phenomenal, really love the friendly vibe at Marlborough.
L. C.
Upstairs at the Marlborough is awesome. Plenty of little areas where groups can sit together comfortably and have a good chat, it's fun sitting outside on the balcony in summer to watch King Street and Missenden Road go by.
M. B.
The Marly has had a huge makeover and is now a true inner-city-slicker hangout. There are a number of bars within which will suit a range of tastes, with unusual, yet hip decor, great drinks and delicious meals and bar snacks. Check out their food specials throughout the week. In any case, any bar that has Young Henrys on tap gets a tick in my book!
T. D.
Good plant based options, and nice atmosphere to meet up with friends. Better than it used to be as security used to be intimidating and rude.
c. g.
I like it when its quiet, which us most weekdays when they dont have live music. Pub grub is so so.
M.
Haven't had the opportunity to visit this place before and I really enjoyed
S.
If you're looking for a wild time, Melbourne Bitter on tap, and nice people to meet for the first time than this is the place to head to in Newtown, vibes for days.
J. S.
Took a while to reach the front of the line..
But once there I was greeted by one of the happiest security guards in SYDNEY
The happiness transitioned inside with friendly staff and security I would recommend it to anyone looking for a new place to party on the weekends great vibes
M. C.
The best place in Newtown, Saturday night a bit crowded but great atmosphere, great music, cheap drinks, great costumer service the guys at the bar do their best. Highly recommended!!
N. T.
It's a good place to grab a quick drink with friends but not a big fan of the place for weekends. Drink and meal deals during lunch are great too.
J. f.
Average looking bar with reasonably priced drinks and food. Although it does get bonus marks for being one of the best places to socialise in all of Newtown
M. V.
The place was very spacious! Had chips there which were not very fresh and kinda small. The music is not that loud which was good
D. K.
If you're after class you've come to the wrong place... but if you're looking for a fun night out, well priced drinks, a friendly crowd and a place that doesn't close before midnight (often well after), this is the place for you.
B. C.
Went here to watch State of Origin and had a great time. I've heard bad stories recently since Newtown is exempt from the Lockout Laws. My advice: go early and leave early.
C. B.
i will always love the marly, can't wait to go back and hit tokyo soon
S. H.
This is a great looking pub and restaurant but it is always lacking something, be that the slow service, the ho-hum menu or the refurbishment that is clearly copying The Newtown Hotel. It seems more popular with out-of-towners than the locals for a reason.
M. L.
Average. Only Mexican food over the bar. Nice staff.
J. G.
Friendly staff and security, as long as U sit down and obey the corona rules, they are just sweet as!!
R. M.
There's a bit of everything at the Marly!
M. N.
Their cocktail list was amazing i tried 2 of their specialties and it was amazing, also reasonable priced at $15 each which isnt too bad. the staff were also very friendly and talkative.
C. E.
Some of my favorite night outs in Sydney were here, great diversity of music, atmosphere, etc. Love marley hotel!!
C.
These guys have some great vegan options on the menu. There's also daily specials to choose from. I recommend trying the eggplant parmi
H. G.
Great some nights but others you can be thrown out for having three beers. Normally they have great bands as well
R. M.
Good music, but fairly messy and underemployed on busy nights. Place can get quite dirty.
W. B.
Nice atmosphere, nice space in the garden, and nice food! They also have a good selection of drinks here, and the location is great. I'll be back.
P. P. S.
The best pub in Newtown. Every Friday and Saturday, the best cover bands will play the best of pop and rock for you
G. C.
Great venue. Food is cheap and big portions If . you're hungry! ! Nice place to catch up with friends.
A. G.
Open late but far too busy on weekends. Would recommend getting a Hospo card for drink discounts if you work in hospitality.
B. W.
Great atmosphere, can be quite busy, food is decent and beer specials are great too
J. R.
Tokyo sing song is always great and live music is a treat. Can get very busy and long lines outside
L. M.
Good bar, nothing much more than the average King street Bar. No extras, good live bands and gigs.
L. M.
A great local bottle shop with delightful staff! The interior is a little bland but the prices are good. Plenty of parking and good public transport.
P. C.
Young Henry's Beer on tap, great venue.
Went there when my housemate DJ'd there. Lovely service, and really good place to dine!
J. H. W.
Try the non-alcoholic orange juice mix with sprite here. It has a fresh taste and it's flavoursome.
A. T. B.
The only pub that's open after 2pm. Quality of drinks is not great. Has a nice outdoor garden though.
S. C.

The bar service is great, but I’m quite impressed with the ramps in the club. Doubt that people with wheel chairs come in, but it was very thoughtful to have.
L. C.

Similar to the vibe of the Marley prior to change of ownership, but prices not really reasonable for what you get, particularly for the food. Hotel is not as good as it was, but perhaps they are just re-establishing
D. H.
Good array of local Beers. Staff were helpful and friendly.
M. W.
