One of the best hotels I’ve ever been to! Whoever had the vision for this hotel, the layout and the experience - Thank you! The food was exceptional, the cocktails delicious and the general vibe everything we wanted for a Saturday and Sunday evening. Yes we went there twice! Oh and thanks guys for accommodating our dogs too.
p. c.
Well liked place with a big reputation, huge venue with great outdoor settings and menu options. Best on the northern beaches. Pop in for a beer or three.
L. B.
Lovely venue in an amazing location with great cocktails. The food was average, especially considering the price. Fish burger was really oily and the calamari was bland but the staff were helpful. Came back the next day and got a pizza which was way better!
K. E.
The lack of service and staff is killing the vibe here. We booked a table but spent the first 30 mins of our booking walking to all the different areas to order food and drinks. Then collecting them. That's hard when you're visiting with younger kids and not a relaxing experience. You want to sit down and enjoy the views and vibe but you're doing all the work as a customer. Then after you've eaten no one comes to clear your plates. We and adjoining tables stashed everything in on top of a nearby planter and no one came to collect in the 30 mins before we left. This place could be magic with table service in booked sections and more staff on the ground. Won't come back until I hear it's gotten better.
S. J.
Besides it being very wet the atmosphere was great. We got an amazing pizza and even sneakily let our dogs walk around the empty tables! The jalapeno margharita was the best I have ever had!
m. k.
Went to celebrate birthday with friends what a nice cool venue food was awesome great cocktails and great vibe beautiful views over water

Rainy Sunday. A good day to spend with a good friend talking about life, women and Nietzsche. The Newport Arms a pub multiverse. Designed for a Sydney Beach summer with multiple layers of outdoor seating for drinking and eating. However, today summer rain fell and drove us inside. The rain may have kept people away but also due to the recent reopening of the city people require time to get back to reevaluate living their regular normal lives pre-covid2021. Regardless a great place to drink away my worries and consider the life choices and decisions I have made. I’ve been to the Newport Arms maybe twice in the last twenty years as I’m not a Sydney beach resident. In fact today’s pub visit was with the same friend when I last visited the Newport Arms (circa 2011). Our domestic arrangements have somewhat diversified since then. Friendly staff and a jovial atmosphere prevailed. I had the large chicken wings and B had the cheeseburger with fries. Wings were slightly over cooked but still munch and good enough for the beer. The eating arrangements are spread out between general all purpose pub grub ordered from ‘The Shack’ and a seperate area for what I assume is considered gourmet pizza (never had it. I don’t eat pizza at pubs - it’s like why do pubs bother with espresso coffee?). A third alternative for food is a seafood area. So the Newport Arms have covered all their bases and they cover it well. A Sydney Northern Beaches mega-pub that will impress pommy and Dutch backpackers no end, as well as the locals. Loads of indoor and outdoor space. Adequate beer range. Variety of food choice. Loads of eye candy and a good place to drink and eat summer and winter.

I have been coming here since I was 17 (yep, Newport Arms, I was using my brother’s ID, but that was back in 1984, so…). Anyway, even though I live in Melbourne now I always come back here whenever I visit family back on the beaches. It always feels like home to me. Great food and what a spectacular view to look at whilst enjoying a bwveyor three!
W. L.
Nice place to chill with friends for snacks or a quick meal. There are several different booths and kiosks offering plenty outdoor seats too.
T. L.
Great place for a chilled out afternoon. Pizzas, burgers, seafood, gelato and drinks all available from little outlets. Lots of space and nice relaxed vibe.
K. R. (.
Beautiful place for lunch. Sunshine, beach, music, drink and food.
M. L.
Beautiful place to spend half a day there enjoying the sun. Lovely garden decor with a few restaurants (pizza, burger fish and chips) / Cafe in the same area. Nice water view and kids area keep adults and kids occupy. Will Def come back again!
A. B.
Gorgeous outdoor dining environment, and the swordfish with salsa verde and fennel and grape salad was actually perfect - seriously, no notes*. Delicious.
*Not a culinary expert.

Their pizza's are still among the best in the area. The toppings were a bit sparse this time, I like it this way but some people might find it stingy for what you pay.
The location and water views obviously are one of the best and staff is always friendly. My kids love the play area with table tennis etc.
However I find it started looking really tired, the architecture, facilities, furniture everything has just aged and hasn't been kept up.
J. A.
Great views, very kid friendly, great service (we booked a table in the pergola, full table service, highly recommended). Was a great day out. Def be back.
D. P.
Great vibes, music and cocktails. Family and dog friendly. Food is decent pub grub and pizza. Good for groups. Can be a bit of a wait at the bar for drinks. Food was very quick. Ping pong tables. Kids area. Great view and lots of food options.
S. R.
Great place for all ages. Overlooks Pittwater and the dog beach is always fun to watch. Stage and big screen for live music. Kids area with table tennis, mini climbing wall, mini basketball hoop and other games.
Multiple bars and eateries. Pizza is great and so are the fish and chips
J.
Beautiful outdoor setting restaurant with the choice of different types of foods and drinks. Luckily our table is located overlooking its amazing beach scenery.
C. W.
Great location with awesome & timeless views over Pittwater. Pizza really well made from woodfire oven. Salads also well priced & generous servings. Wine choices by bottle are quite to very expensive so the pub lunch is not moderate as a result
B. P.
Amazing views, relaxing atmosphere for a quiet early dinner. I would give the food 4 stars but the service and ambiance is what we came for. The burger at the shack was really tasty! The bar service made me really happy.
T. S.
It's a fantastic venue that looks over the Pittwater. The staff are friendly and helpful. There's is plenty of variety when it comes to food choices
G. s.
Lovely place for a stop off and refreshment. Nice views and very relaxing.
J. M.
Such a great venue with lots of open air spaces. With the lockdowns, I don’t feel as comfortable in dining in at indoor restaurants anymore. Nice to have this locally.
E. S.
Amazing view, fantastic food and many places to choose from. First time coming here and the pizza was great. Not only that, but the music was perfect to top it off. Will be coming here more often!
S. H.
Good food, great views
G. I.
Visited on Easter Saturday. The venue is lovely, lots of outdoor dining by the water and nice food outlets (pizza, burgers, cafe, bar). 3 stars for the underwhelming, average schnitzel burger. It was dripping in oil. The schnitzel crumb is too thick and holds alot of oil.
P. M.
Haven't been there for years, loved the changes. Oysters were so fresh. Battered basil prawns were nice, but a better description should be on the menu as there was no mention of chilli in the crumb. Found them a little too spicy, lucky we weren't allergic eh? All in all a lovely afternoon by the water reminiscing. Staff were great.
A. G.
Lots of eating options, choice of seating areas, pleasant laid back vibe
O. L.
Amazing location and atmosphere.
Food was decent and well priced.
Staff was friendly and helpful, I can imagine this could be a nice Sunday afternoon drinks place before covid when everyone could stand up and go for a little dance around
P. B.
The Newport is a great setting and Justin and the team have done a tremendous job on most fronts. Always room for improvement and I would suggest a few queues just for quick pour drinks and then other queues for cocktails. Even better enable online ordering from your table. How awesome would that be. Some days the queues are just crazy and I go home.
C. C.
Came for Sunday arvo drinks and decided to book for lunch the following week under the pergola. Would highly recommend the antipasto platter. The setting was fabulous, the food also good and service by Crystal made the lunch a very enjoyable experience. Thankyou Crystal 💝
M. K.
Friendly service. Limited menu where we sat and the quality was your basic pub grub. Very busy and noisy. Not cheap either. We certainly won't be hurrying back.
N. K.
Really enjoyed our time here - service is a little inconsistent. Great concept, although they say there is 4 different outlets but the menu really feel as if they equals one full menu and then a pizza menu! Great music and vibes - will be back!
D. L.
Love the variety of food but I was disappointed that, at 7.30pm, the kiosk offering chicken rolls was closing. Ordered schnitzel burger which tasted of fish. Definitely a buzzing place.
S. C.
Great sunny day out!
Lucky being here early before the busy crowds~
Huge place with relaxing atmosphere~
Simple fresh bar food plus cold cider or beers 🍻🤩🥰
What a views of water with lots greens around~Happy Easter 🐣
L.
Wow! Such a cool place which I was lucky to visit before the lines started (come at 11 not 12:30) on a weekend. The Newport has 3 kitchens: one for pizza, seafood and burgers/chips. Started with 8 chicken wings and small fries then finished with a dozen fresh oysters and a bucket if chilled kong prawns. The lychee cocktail was minty and refreshing. Will be back!
W. J.
Picturesque location overlooking Pittswater. Options of fresh cooked pizza or burgers section. We just enjoyed a wine and the view. But plan to go back for their pizzas next trip.

One of my fav places in Sydney! Opposite our fav dog beach too. The Newport is a Merivale venue is best described as an alfresco marketplace with a kiosk, pizzeria, shack and seafood market. All dog friendly!
I’ve eaten at the Shack and the seafood market. Lots of variety on the menu. Food comes pretty quick even when busy. Grab a table, look out at the view and enjoy the Newport.
Chicken Wings - generous portions and super crispy and yum! These are actually my fav in Sydney
N. B.
It's only taken me 28 years of living in Sydney to get there but I finally did it. What a gorgeous place to enjoy a meal and a drink. Absolutely enchanting.
M. T.
Visited on a Monday evening ~ Beautiful sunset followed by good food, a complimentary toasty warm firepit and a great ambiance. Highly recommend a cozy winter visit.
N. L.
Sipped mocktails and watched "love actually". A tremendous way to spend a summer's evening
S. S.
Loved the venue but the food wasn't up to par and there was a notable infection risk with staff: very confused how this is going on. The acia bowl had rotten blueberries. The bartender was tasting drinks by putting a small amount on the back of his hand and licking it!! No hand washing or anything was observed between the time that happened and the rest of the drink was made or served. Shocking behaviour. Please fix this ASAP.
T. F.
Really pretty, love the space and chilled vibe. Shame the people that work there don’t seem all that happy... but the food was good. No good beer. Dislike having to go to various areas to order each item, should definitely have the app thing to order from the table. The pizza that came later was good too, another 5 mins in a different queue and double the wait time for it to be ready.
S. E.
As for the vibes of the restaurant and its unique views, food quality and quantity, they were really ok, but we had to look for staff in case of needing help.
V. W.
What a great venue. We had a magic evening at the Newport, the weather behaved and it was the perfect evening to enjoy being outside. We really enjoyed the atmosphere and all the 'zones' which made the space so diverse and interesting. The varied food areas made it fun. Sensational views were the icing on the cake.
S. T.
Great location & atmosphere. Nice place to relax & enjoy the afternoon beers.
N. M.
Beautiful decor and view of the bay. Pizza was tasty enough but otherwise nothing extraordinary, on par with it being a pub. Don't fancy the pub system of ordering and paying for each dish in different areas which disrupt the flow of dining.
T. E.
The Newport has such outstanding amazing customer service and this most stunning views and seating area. Food was worth the wait and coffee was on point. The vibe of Newport is very much there.
B. K.
A totally amazing place where you can get lost for hours in a maze of gardens, seats and different food options. Definitely something for everyone it is the kind of place you can go with family, friends, dates, kids or anything in between. Finding a seat is the hardest bit, after which you can spend hours just people or dog watching while enjoying drinks and food of your choice. The live music is also a nice touch, making it a place you definitely want to keep coming back to!
J. B.
Love this place! We always go here whenever we visit Newport Beach. They also offer gf options for my partner which is a bonus ❤️ would definitely come back!!
A. M.
Its a very nice place for family dinner or partying with a few drinks, there is a DJ with loud music but the place is large enough if you wanted to have a peaceful meal away from the noise.
I wish there was more food options as there are only two restaurants and the bar gets really busy with a bit of a wait time to get your drinks.
Its new and recently renovated, nice views if water especially if you go there at day light.
Adequate parking available at the lower ground level.
Small play ground area for kids which is less that what it was before, I wish they kept the previous play ground format because in this new design there is not much for small kids.
r. s.
Nice space but really awkward food ordering experience. Unless your group all wants the same then you need to order and pick up from multiple locations... Must be a way to co-ordinate that better?
B. W.
The dining area located at the rear of this hotel has an excellent atmosphere. And an excellent view of Pittwater. A great spot to come for lunch or dinner. The ‘Newport Lower Ground’ is only open from 11am Friday, Saturday and Sunday - these are the best days to visit The Newport. COVID-safe policies are being practiced at this location. Parking is located underneath the hotel - accessible from the northern end of the hotel. A frequent bus service to the city and Palm Beach operates from this location. #Newport
b. t.
Nice outdoor beer garden with good views. Meal was good.
Worth a visit
N. K.
Sprawling waterfront destination with several eateries in beautiful location and surroundings. Service a bit slow at times given the size of the place and the monster capacity- but the atmosphere is fantastic and the food and drinks great quality. Nice menu diversity. Live music performed on big stage. Views overlooking docks and boats reminiscient of the Italian Amalfi coast. A great place to people spot and soak up beautiful views
j. a. d.
I must admit I still miss the old arms the new renovations just arnt the same, the place has lost something.
The food is not cheap and it’s a bit hit and miss. The chicken wings were tasty but dry, the burger was nice, the ceviche has a lot of cucumber and a real lack of actual ceviche, the oysters were nice but the vinegarette wasn’t the best.
K. W.
such a nice place, been here a few times, staff are friendly
view and seating are just beautiful and food is great too
N. L.
Fantastic atmosphere! Absolutely buzzing on a weekend. Fit out is stylish, great selection and variety for all. Pizza was great!
m. r.
This has been my second time in The Newport and I really enjoyed as it was also my Birthday. Really beautiful place, quality food, and absolutely nice staff with a welcoming face and smile.
R. S.
The new restaurant Berts is far more relaxed than I expected. Comfortable lounge type seating and a multitude of attentive staff. Meals are not cheap but of a very high quality. I'm looking forward to going there again for a special occasion.
P. C.
Incredible place. Live music, multiple quality food styles and counters, affordable, top rate ambience.
J. W.
The Newport arms has been on my Wishlist for some time. It’s probably not the most convenient location for people who live out west but definitely a place for locals and people who are looking for a great place to celebrate, eat and drink, catchup or enjoy the beautiful view of the beach. There’s a great vibe to this place whether enjoying a nice lunch or drink over live music or simply relaxing and listening to the waves of the water. There’s plenty of seating both indoor/outdoor, covered and shaded. Plenty of food options from wood fire pizza to delicious chicken wings and chicken schnitzel burgers. I would not recommend the seafood market though as it’s very $$$$$! just not worth the price.
S. M.
Loved celebrating my friend's birthday here. Plenty of options for food and drink. Beautiful place to watch the sunset. Fun energy on the weekend and staff were all helpful.
P. C.
Went on Saturday lunchtime so there were lots of people about which meant queues for everything. But the food and atmosphere made up for it. We had fish & chips, a kids chicken burger, pizza and salt & pepper calamari and it was all fresh and delicious. The calamari was especially good. There's a great selection of beers and the place had a very relaxing feel to it. Very enjoyable
P. M.
Throw on a white linen shirt, grab your doggo and get comfy in the sprawling, sunny grounds of The Newport.
We went hungry and inhaled oysters and prawns, Neapolitan-style capricciosa pizzas, BBQ chook rolls, plus a Thai green papaya with mango and prawn salad. All pretty tasty.
The piña colada was perfect for a warm autumn arvo and we pushed ourselves over the edge with a platter of desserts – the jam and custard doughnut and peanut butter choc brownie were worth it.
J. W. K.
Great location, great pizzas, everything looks good but if you look a bit closer it’s not as perfect as it seams. Bartenders are not highly trained. Very sloppy bartending skills and knowledge. Also all the plates we ate off were chipped and looked like they’ve been used for too many years.
K. C.
Family and dog friendly. Fantastic food and service! The atmosphere is so relaxing and the views are just breathtaking. Such a great place for a long leisurely meal.
V. B.
I love coming here but because of the high price of the food and drinks I don't come as often as i would like to. The cocktails are delicious. The pizza is the best here! I love the atmosphere, the view and the condiments that are available and easy to access. There is also a ping pong table and coffee and cakes available. The gelato is yummy too.
N. G.
Workout a doubt it's one of the most amazing venues I've ever been to. So many options, loads of space and great food. I'm just glad I don't live any closer or I'd probably spend all my days and nights here.
P.
Amazing spot with water views over Pittwater.
Lots of gluten free options at The Shack Cafe within The Newport grounds.
c. g.
Such a great spot and good vibe.
B. H.
We were pleasantly surprised at how lovely this bar was, and how they cater for all ages. It's so large you can have adults drinking to live music, oldies having a coffee and cake, and children playing in the playground all in completely separate areas. Beautiful place to come on a warm summer's day. Also our pizza crusts were to die for. We'll be back!
R. B.
The perfect place for a drink after a day at the beach or on the water. Suitable for the whole family; kids play area, a fountain to play in, and so many different seating areas. I'm coming back again with friends. The queues for drinks can be a problem when it's busy but there are a few bars to go to. It's a relaxing picnic place with dinner, drinks and facilities; and the staff were all helpful.
J. N.
What a wonderful garden and venue. Truly stunning and more than makes up for the average food.
O. G.
Great place to have food and drinks. Highly recommended. The table-served area has a great view.
T. B.
Loved this venue. Merivale venues generally never disappoint. Many funky eatery options outdoors and all under the same roof. Various alcoholic beverages and food carts.
Picturesque venue. Reasonable to find parking.
The best for venue for brunch, lunch or sunset.
K. C.
Always amazing! Amazing ambiance, friendly staff, lovely atmosphere delicious food!
K. T.
Love the view, the food and the vibe of this place! Also, great place to bring your dog too while you get a drink and food.
L. T.
Love coming here for a mid-week lunch especially when the weather is nice. Lots of great food to choose from and the view is beautiful. Always enjoy a game of table tennis in the "kids" area too 😃. Dog and kid friendly venue!
M.
5 star for the view, chill-ax vibe with rnb DJ on deck. Although pizza is excellent, still looking for more gourmet options for a gourmet spanking venue. 😅
A. S.
Great atmosphere for a chill drink, although the food is quite average standard pub food.
- prawn roll, needed more prawns it had alot of lettuce and greens in it
- pork banh mi, was average, the pork was good the slaw was quite acidic i think a bit more chilli would've been better
- chips with truffle mayonnaise, chips are standard pub style chips, i felt like the combination tasted a bit like Vegemite or bacon or some sort of meat, probably should have selected the spicy mayo instead
d. b.
Beautiful location stunning views, lunch of burgers and chips not much to go wrong but the food was most enjoyable, certainly will return.
A. C.
What a fantastic spot to spend a sunny summers afternoon at. The outdoor bistro set up is perfect for small to large groups with food and drink options to suit all. You'll find plenty of entertainment to keep the kids entertained as well.
c. L.
Very fun vibes. Very clean layout. Artfully pieces together and perfect for a few drinks, a bite to eat, or a whole evening with friends. Views to the Pittwater make it feel more beachy and the pizzas are just outstanding (THE DOUGH!!!). Heaps of beers on tap and great, friendly staff.
Couldn’t recommend this place highly enough
K. S.
Great spot for outdoor drinks. Pizza was delicious and it's dog friendly. Nice spot to watch sunset as well and the fire pits at night keep the outdoor space feeling cozy. Lemon meringue tart was stellar.
R. A.
Good food, great ambiance, amazing sunset.
B. D.
A fun family place where you can get good food and relax to live music or ocean views.
The food is prepared in the open, where you can see the Ham sliced off the bone before your eyes. A large and very popular local venue, you'll find it filled about 90% with people who come from the area. A safe environment where people feel free to let their kids play (the restaurant provides activities like go carts!) while they enjoy a wine near the stage. Not your cheap local pub, but certainly has the elegance you would expect.
I recommend any pizza with burrata cheese, it tastes as good as it looks!
S. H.
Food was good but very over priced and the kids entertainment area needs a bit of TLC. The atmosphere is relaxed and friendly.
D.
Really nice place with delicious food!
L. S.
What a lovely place to come and enjoy the sunshine..... So relaxing... Food and drink selection is quite good but is a tad on the expensive side.
Does get quite busy so finding a table can be troublesome. There is also a play area for the kids...
Highly recommended
S. A.
The setting here is nice and relaxed with lots of different entertainment spaces.
D. U.
Great atmosphere for casual dining. It can be a little noisy with live bands and a DJ.
Attended on a Saturday night with my family. Would recommend going early if you have kids ie 5pm-6pm.
It starts to get busy with the party crowd from 630pm.
I. S.
One of the amazing gems of the Northern beaches. I always take my visiting family and friends to this beautiful place. The food is absolutely delicious and the service is great. It gets very busy on weekends and parking is usually hard to find (not for the lack of it, it just gets busy and most people have to drive there). The place is family and pet friendly with a kids playing area near the coffee shop. A must visit if you are in the Monavale area.
S. M.
$19.50:
1 SCHOONER of Moretti beer
1 schooner of soda water
1 schooner of water!!
Not worth the prices they’re asking for.
Child friendly venue with some good variety of food though you will need to walk around to each kitchen to find your desired food as there is not one menu. Great views looking across to Bayview, perfect for that weekend catch up with friends and parking is available very close.
A. G.
Great view and beautiful environment. The wooden fire pizzas and cocktails are highly recommended.
C. C.
Great pub! Huge and lovely outdoor area with a view. Very dog friendly and a great place to take friends from out of town.
J.
Beautiful setting on pittwater, parking and very good pub food, even work a play area for kids. There is only a small area with table service and other than that it can be a little tough to get a table. Although they do have buzzers to tell you when you did is ready. You can book for larger groups.
N. S.
During my twenties I always loved going to what was called "The Newport Arms" as it meant the summer holidays and New Year's holidays at Palmie. Now that we are older it's even better with the refurbishment as it is very child-friendly and now we can enjoy long lunches and know there are plenty of things in the games area to keep our children amused and occupied.
We were celebrating a family member's birthday and our 10 yr old was very chuffed to go back of house in the kitchen to slice the cake with the chef.
The only gripe is the wait staff forgot to give us the remaining slices of cake for our party of 10 and 10yr old is still complaining about it.
The view is amazing looking out over the Pittwater towards Bayview.
The menu was great, something for everybody to choose from burgers, pizza, pork Thai banh mi rolls. We look forward to going back often over summer.
S. J.
Great views, great pizza
G. P.
What a lovely venue.
Great scenery, friendly & efficient staff and great food!
Will definitely be back for the hot smoked Salmon, it was oustanding (10/10) also the Kingfish device.
Unfortunately I didn't get any pictures of he Amazing view, but it is just that!
Will definitely be back 😃
I. N.
Great session spot. Literally something for everyone. Feels like you're on a bar crawl without ever leaving the venue. Bring someone tall to act as a meeting point.
S. S.
Excellent. Lovely place, huge with so many corners and beautiful views . Yards and diferent saloons, good coffee
z. c.
Very nice water view, good service and big enough for big groups
K. K.
Brilliant spot with a fantastic view. Very friendly staff Great atmosphere. And surprisingly fair prices.
N. A.
Beautiful place!! Decor and location are the best!! I would love it to be with table service though! Food is great!
A.
Great place for catchup with friends. We booked the Pergola, which has table service from all different parts of Newport (Pizza, seafood etc). Beautiful views, tasty food, good range of drinks and place for kids and doggies to run around in. Definitely will be back.
I. J.
Thus place is brilliant. Location is fabulous. The only thing lacking is a little more variety in their menus.
Z. J.
Great views and a good vibe. Unfortunately not many gluten free options on the menu which was really sad. Couldn’t enjoy the food.
P. B.
Fantastic ambiance, great music by a DU, super location, a must go!
T. N. T.
Awesome place for any occasion. Spectacular view, great atmosphere and nice food and drinks.
Stumbled across this gem on a spontaneous trip with friends. We were all impressed that it was dog friendly too!
S. S.
Has good options for vegetarians. Absolutely love their chilli pizza..
J. W. (. E.
Great vibe, but long queues for drinks. Pizzeria is generally awesome. $$$
I. L. (. G.
I know I love this place, true say the food is good after all I am Englishman in in Australia the drinks of course serve cold which is always a great thing
J. F.
Wether you're going with the boys, girls, family or corporate lunch, the Newport provides the perfect atmosphere for all occasions. It's a very large block of land with a massive variety of places to eat and drink. I would rate 5 stars except for only having 2 main bars which can cause a long que for a drink on the nightlife nights.
The Newport holds its reputation well as one of the best hotel bars/returaunts within Sydney and has worked to perfection for it.
You'll have to visit the cocktail bar, they offer many well priced drinks for a fancy night.
I will continue to take friends and family here for all occasions!
S. O.
I had the Bug & Squid Singapore Noodles from the Seafood Market, I inhaled them - some of the best noodles I've had. Others at my table had the buckets of prawns which were very fresh. Chips were fresh and hot, good condiment selection. Can be hard to get a table on a good day, but everywhere in The Newport is a great place to sit. Live music. Games room for kids.
J. R.
Amazing venue and location, pretty mediocre food. Limited menu with particular lack of vegetarian food.
G. M.
Excellent pub very classy and well trained bar staff. You do spend a bit of $$ but worth it.

Family welcome place with cosy and relax feeling, many choices of food stall, beatiful water front venue
M. G.
Venue, view, food and drinks were amazing. Thet put a lot of thought and money into this place.
G. M.
Great food, beautiful location, good atmosphere. Nice family day out
J. A.
Enjoyed a belated Mother's day and my son's birthday with the family. Great service and such friendly staff. The food was amazing and even though we had a cloudy day the wonderful atmosphere of "The Newport" lifted all of our spirits.
H. P.
Such a nice place!
Children & Pets friendly !
J. K.
This place is amazing! It's a haven for food and wine lovers. Great views. We went there on the weekend and there was live music. So fun! I got the Vietnamese banh mi sandwich and it was so good!
M. v. S.
This is an awesome venue! Merivale did a great job bringing some new life to the Arms, the only thing that doesn't make sense is having to go to separate ordering locations for the various kitchens
D. T.
Lovely spacious garden by the water with delicious meals and drinks. Worth it ☝️
F.
Where do you go when your kids feel like Pizza, your wife feels like a Salad and you feel like an epic burger and chips? The Newport is the place to go. With anything on the menu from a bucket of tiger prawns to Sunday roast style chicken and veg. You can choose from at least 15 different beers on tap, a good wine selection and amazing coffee. There is some sort of live entertainment almost every day of the week and dog friendly. The Newport is everything Australian tourists and locals love.
M. P.
Great views, friendly staff, cold beers, fabulous venue with a varied menue. Definately recommend the Newport for a lazy afternoon with friends.
K. K.
A great location to hang out and listen to live music. Pristine views overlooking Pittwater with cool drinks & food on offer, just perfect for our weekend get together. The Newport is highly recommended for groups, families, couples we cannot wait to go back!
f. s.
The venue is really quite lovely with lots of different areas and some lovely plants and views. The food offering however was pretty basic and the meals we had were quite flavourless and not great value doe money. We tried the classic hamburger and the pumpkin and kale salad with poached chicken. The salad looked great but the large slice of pumpkin was cold (we thought it might be slightly warm) and not very appealing and the whole salad pretty tasteless. We would try the venue again but maybe go for a the pizzas next time.
H. M.
Lovely outdoor casual dining with spectacular views of the pittwater. Many seating areas to choose from and piped music in the background. Great ambience. Tasty chicken wings, salads and pizzas.
Friendly staff.
A.
Great venue, awesome views topped up with cold beer
C. D.
Good vibe, good staff. Fantastic time with my family, definitely coming back! Thanks guys!
I. Y.
Beautiful place to have food in. Nice location, and awesome view to water.
P. N.
Nice atmosphere, nice food, best place for a breakfast with a view
H. N.
Awesome for young and old! Great venue. Very relaxed.
G. T.
Great vibe, food and service but at high end of price scale once you factor in Sunday surcharges.
B. B.
Great location, one of the Premier Watering holes on the northern beaches.
N. A.
Truly can't beat this location for the view and the vibe.
o. o.
Fantastic venue with stunning views and great selection of food. Ultimate relaxation.
D. Z.
Great place, great food, great view
A. T.
Went for lunch mid week in school hols with family - we are from interstate and have heard of the Newport. Stunning location, fitout and amenities. Amount of dining and drinking options and locations was amazing and I can see how it would go off on balmy weekends.
Service though was disinterested at best. Also found the flow of eating and drinking was disrupted by having to pickup food and drinks at different locations. Food arrived in cardboard containers - thought nice bowls and plates would be more befitting of venue and better for the envronment in 2021. Not your typical pub drinking experience with poodles and lap dogs at the tables but there you go! still great and another insight into the local customs of the Northern Beaches!
C. S.
Always great here food and service is always amazing
R. T.
Great place foa a cold beer and dining with a waterview backdrop
B. M.
I do love this pub. The view is spectacular, the beers are cold and there's a really good variety. The food is pretty good, but because I always leave having paid top dollar yet still feeling a bit hungry, I've docked them a star.
N. G.
2 beers = $19.50
Nice Water views.
D. L.
Huge, decent food, ultra-helpful staff, nice food.
I was the oldest person there by about 20 years though but despite that, the DJ played 80s and 90s music, and at an acceptable level to permit conversation! What's not to like?!
S. F.
Jumped on the Harley with my wife along with other friends on their bikes and rode up to the northern beaches. One of my friends was familiar with the The Newport as he had lived up that way in the past. It is a great venue. Sitting outside it felt like we were away on holidays and not just an hour from home. Great atmosphere and amazing views of the bay. There are a few different places to choose your food from all within the one venue. Overall the food we had was pretty good for a relaxed environment. There were plenty of staff on hand to keep orders moving and they had a good COVID plan they were working too They had live music - the woman who performed was amazing. It is a beautiful part of Sydney and we will visit The Newport again this summer.
G. A.
Great Feel Good Ambience with lots of good cuisine and drinks.
J. L.
Yummy food and cocktails, although a bit pricey. And seems like a glorified food court as you have to go and order your own food. Staff service were average. But the restaurant did have beautiful views over the water.
M. S.
Great lunch time location. Lovely good, fun atmosphere. Lovely views to water below.
W. C.
Lovely place, great location and good variety of food / drink
A. H.
Good food and drinks and excellent outdoor setting
F. G.
Fun, upbeat atmosphere. The calamari and fish and chips were average but a fun place visit anyway
J. J.
a fun experience overall.
- avoid splinters in the kids area with the wooden blocks. I got two splinters in my little finger picking it up.
-if you have young children, take your partner or a friend! there is no table service like at coogee pavillion where they deliver food after you order.. so ordering food is a bit of challenge if you have more than two kids that are playing. you have to go up order and pay from the different restaurants you wish to have lunch from. for example it may be from two different areas if your kids desire a chicken salad for example and sashimi (2 separate restaurants) and then you have to go back to collect when food is ready. so make sure you go at the right time (restaurants open after 12) and try to keep kids in a pram or close to you and order food first and then find a place to sit down and your friend could look after your young ones whilst you collect the food from the separate area..
-poor breakfast selection, avoid breakfast time if you want healthy food (there are no options) however if you feel like a pastry and your kids are allowed a milkshake they have a bananarama which is yummy.
the healthy food starts after 12pm
enjoy
we had a wonderful time and enjoyed a school holiday activity of making snack bars (we thought it would be a healthy snack with fruit and granola. this was not healthy at all, they had a delicious selection of marshmallows cookies and chocolate.)
in the future it would be great to see healthier options for kids during the school holidays and also have a healthier breakfast menu
g. w.
Food was really great and the locations and ambiance was on point! I could see how it could get hectic at times because it would get busy, but have only had great experiences.
M. D.
Love this pub. Hasn't been there in nearly thirty years but it's still both gorgeous and atmospheric. The Old buildings and trees have been sensitively preserved in the update. You can still seat outside under the trees. There are still beautiful views over Pittwater. There is still great live music. Fabulous array of drink options. Good food and you can choose table service or not (for a cost). Lots of people having a great time all in the same place from across generations. Lovely. Disabled access. Clean and well tended. The only drawback is parking. I'd consider leaving the car at home and use your Plan B. Enjoy!
n. b.
Amazing venue, I attended for a live gig. Seated under covid restrictions, can say the view is gorgeous, as is the decor. Super friendly staff, and very knowledgeable on their drinks and menu. Prices are a tad high even for Northern Beaches. Woodfire pizza is amazing, would definitely recommend visiting the Newport whether going for a meal, a casual drink with friends or to a live gig. This is a gorgeous venue.
B. M.
Beautiful venue, if a little overpriced. The beer garden is spectacular. Spacious, fun and plenty of food/drink options. Kid friendly. Great in warm or cool weather.
Recommend eating at the restaurant, Bert's. I had the steak and a dessert. Not really the best if not a seafood fan, and very expensive, but worth the date night or special occasion.
K. C.
Awesome location and very good food!
F. C.
Awesome place. Nice people make the place. Thank you for having us.
M. P.
Really great place for the whole family. Good selection on the menu, relaxed vibe and play area for kids too. And the view is pretty special too.
J. T.
Great vibe, beautiful scenery, good food and warm welcoming staff. Great place for lunch or a relaxing afternoon drink Very impressed with their attention to keeping everyone covid safe. A few more craft beer options on tap would be good, however still give it a 5/5.
R. Y.
Good vibe and yum pizza🍕🍻 Good for chillax and social group on the weekends!
D. W.
Nice place, shame its not open for brekky or brunch though. Would be a perfect spot for it.
D. T.
Great food, views, vibe and staff.
A. A.
Great location and good food. Not many GF options though.
L. P.
To be candid, I was not a fan of Merivale (Justin Hemmes) owned establishments beforehand and my recent visit did nothing to change that view. What was once a relaxed and laid back venue is now all show and no substance. Food was OK but nothing to write home about and very expensive, eg. $21 for half a dozen oysters. Pizzas are basic for the price. Tap beer selection is mediocre (no Carlton products). Indifferent attitude from bar staff. Toilets were putrid.
Tip: Don't sit near the car park for if the wind is blowing the wrong way you will have to deal with the stench of the garbage bins beneath.
j. a.
A bit run down from the last one we visited. (a year ago) good view's
o. d.
This place is a phenomenon, coolest place in Sydney to eat, drink and relax. Kid friendly too. Reminded me of a resort thus, my new hidden gem. Thanks team for a great weekend experience. For the super cool family and cool couples to kick back. Pls do something like it here in Canberra.
K. W.
Good view and standard food. Perfect with friends or family there
M. P.
It's a great place by waterside to bring family and pets. Food is good, nice options available
H. T.
Great place near the water, nice food and drinks
H. H.
Great place, loved the vibe. Appreciated the cooling water spray above us cos it was hot n sunny that day. Loved the live performance singer she sounded lovely. Lots of cute dogs there. We were lucky with parking but i could see how it might b limited. Food yummy.
D. D.
Great atmosphere and setting. We ate wings and salt and pepper calamari, both delicious. Its child friendly too, with a games area, which was great. Highly recommended. Not all meal options were available on the quieter evenings.
E. K.
Lovely spot. Good vibe. Kids area is great, including giant Scrabble on the wall.
R. C.
Lovely atmosphere helpful staff, great views, different seating areas to suit your style eg a quiet area. Good menu choices and interesting settings
G. T.
Loved the atmosphere and vibe here. First time here and loved that there was all these different food options all from the one place.
Perfect for some afternoon cocktails and nibbles so you can see the beautiful water in front. Staff were all great and worked fast, happu to answer any questions. I'll definitely be back ! :)
M.
Gorgeous setting! Dynamic atmosphere and beautiful surrounds. The food was delicious and service fantastic. Fresh and well presented. Menus from the different dining options were varied and well priced. Drink options also perfect.
The Newport is simply stunning
A. N.
Very busy place, quite loud but enjoyable.
J. D.
Best beer garden around. Good views and full of good looking people. Prices are a bit up there but it’s what you’d expect from a fancy joint like this. Good large variety of bars and food available
s. p.
Great venue, lovely staff ,ok food.
c. m.
Amazing venue! so much to choose from in terms of food and seating!!
also shout out to Max who was extremely helpful and went above and beyond to make our first experience a good one! will definitely be returning
S. G.
The fish burger was dripping with oil ...definitely not worth the $23. Nice venue. Pity we were not able to enjoy the views as we were told those tables were booked even though they remained empty the entire time we were there.
T. B.
Love this place! Great vibes and nice food. Food is definitely on the expensive side and not that much variety but still a good night out and nice drinks and venue! They also have live singers on the weekend!
N. C.
Great location, variety of food. Friendly staff. A great place to relax on a Sunday afternoon.
I.
Great venue with some amazing views of the surrounding water. Staff are all friendly and the food is great too. Would highly recommend this place for your next outing.
A. S.
Amazing place. Garden area is fantastic, many different places to sit and laze about. Pizzas were delicious, staff super helpful and friendly. Kids area kept the little ones entertained.
M. C.
Welcoming, good food, nice atmosphere, friendly staff.
S. S.
Very Amazing place to hangout with Friends and families with great Wood fire Pizza and Foods.
M. T.
Amazing venue, great customer service. Great food /cocktails. Its a bit messy tho and some waitress( hostess) dress like.... an end of party where you had no limits during the night ! Haha. Was surprise to see that
J. H.
Great fun beer garden. Perfect on a hot summers day/eve.
L. B.
Many different bars and restaurants meaning there is something for everyone. Beautiful view of the pittwater
G. D.
It's a decent sized venue with plenty of great views and a good atmosphere. Obviously pretty full during peak times but the times I went it was manageable. Unfortunately the choice of drinks is a bit limited and the foods nice but a little too pricey for what you get. But given the area it's not that surprising.
M. H. (.
Awesome outdoor atmosphere and the food is all delish!
J. C.
Awesome location, great views, and that is so good to have a place like this where we can go with our furry friends! Would go back again and again!
J. K.
Avoid on weekends and public holidays - I walked away as it was simply impossible. On a weekday it's spacious pub with beautiful outdoor sitting area with a water view.
M. W.
I find it really quite odd that you have to order your meals at two different areas depending on what you ordered! I wanted a side of chips with my lunch, so i had to go and find a second place called The Shack to order them, even though i ordered my main someplace else...
Please explain?!
On a positive note, the staff where great to deal with, especially explaining the restrictions and seating etc. They get a thumbs up! :)
R. J.
Meh... Great location with some good views but very busy. Has several bars and kitchens to cope with numbers. Can be a hassle to get a table.
L. P.
Celebrated my friends baby shower here and was able to reserve tables with a beautiful view. Great selection of food, was delicious as were the drinks. We had an amazing time and felt like they took good care of us. Great atmosphere
G. G.
The arms is an amazing pub with panoramic water views. They’ve renovated their premisses not long ago so everything looks fairly sophisticated and somewhat quirky.
You will always find good music and party is on every weekend.
Expect city prices for anything in the menu regardless the fact that you’re almost up the central coast 😂 however is equally expensive as anything else around the northern beaches. Overall 5 star and amazing service
J. R.
I love this place. It has lots of different outdoor spaces to sit and relax at. The view is gorgeous and there is a decent variety of food. I had the salt and pepper calamari and it was delicious! The price was quite reasonable for the serving and quality of the food. For lunch I also ordered fries on the side but I really didn’t need to as the calamari on its own was enough. I also really liked the cafe which is on the other side of the bar. There you will find some sweet options and coffee. Although I really like the Newport I can’t quite give it 5 stars owing mostly to the lack of parking and limited shelter outside.
J. W. (.
I first came to Newport two weeks ago, my friend had told me how amazing this place was. At first when I first entered I thought it was a little pub. I started to doubt how magical the place was described to myself. Soon I followed my friend to what I thought was a smoking area. Little did i know it was a small garden dining area. I was pleased it wasn't just a pub. I went to get a table and my friend laughed and told me to follow her. We went down some stairs and I was left speechless. This places wasn't a small pub with a back garden but a giant beer garden/restaurant. It's hard to describe what it actually is defined under. It looks over the water with a great breeze. They have little water mist that sprays overhead to keep the area cool while out in the sun. The area is split up into different sections with more then enough seating areas for everyone to come and have a great time. It is definitely worth the drive to come here no matter where you are from.
J. H.
Simply the best beer garden in Sydney perhaps the world. That’s a big statement but I have never seen better in all my travels. What Merrivale have done to the gardens is a work of art and should be applauded. The food is acceptable but nothing to write home about and their system of multiple venues to order the food is painful although inguess it helps with the shear volumes that they would produce on a sunny weekend.
There are many Karen’s complaining that it’s not family Freindly and they don’t serve coffee. It’s a pub not a playground and if you want coffee see the last sentence and find a more appropriate place for your mothers group meeting.
C. W.
We come here all the time, for special occasions, dinner with friends or date night with our dog.
Great atmosphere, delicious range of food and drinks.
Perfect for all occasions.
L. H.
Incredible now it has a classy new restautent. Staff and Chefs are the best out there, will be back for sure
D. D. S.
A lovely spot as always. Just dropped in for a lazy cocktail on the deck overlooking the water.
L. T.
Very pretty and laid back place, overlooking the water. Lovely place to hang. We came in the day. But reckon it would be prettier at night. Not all the food stands were opened, so the choices of food was limited. We had fish and chips, Salt and pepper calamari and a poached chicken salad, which were all mediocre...
S. P.
Great service with good options. Great setting opposite inlet and resort theme
C. C.
Great place for some day drinks and to catch up with friends
D. N.
We visited on a Friday afternoon and loved the relaxed vibe. The space is huge with a table service area or order at the counter. The food options range from pizzas to burgers to seafood..there is something for everyone. We had the oysters which were fresh and delicious as well as a pizza(woodfired) which was also really good. We also tried a few cocktails which were all unique, well presented and overall really good. It is a bit of a trek to get out there but its worth it. We would love to visit during the day next time to enjoy the amazing views over Pittwater.
G. M.
Great place and a wide variety of food to choose from
C. P.
The last time i had been here was before the Merivale takeover and had heard mixed reviews. Arrived on the first evening when some relaxation in Covid rules allowed for more patrons. Sun was starting to set and the ample grounds and cosy tables to sit at made for a nice place to have a beer and watch people enjoy themselves. Great spot to relax. Has an almost wedding reception vibe in the gardens but very chilled. Enjoy.
J. P.
Great location and venue. Pizzas are a great choice to graze on while taking in the views of the beautiful Pittwater. Great venue for live music on a Sunday and have never been disappointed with the musicians. Drinks are a bit of a let down. Limited beer options, lack of any real quality craft beer.
D. T.
Awesome place nice view, good ambient yummy food
A.
The venue is a nice place. Sun was out and weather was perfect, Burrantina Pizza was to die for & the Rocky Road dessert Pizza was 👌🏽👌🏽 although service could be better from some waitstaff, by now we all understand the current arising situation but doesn't mean basic customer service standards should drop.
k.
Luved this venue with the outdoor dining area is unbelievable
S. D.
This place was very hectic but the staff were very accommodating and pleasant to deal with. I think if I worked here I would probably get in a fight or stab someone. The pizzas were very nice. Check your order because we ordered a few things that never arrived at our table. I really enjoyed the music even if it was covers.
s.
Terrific location and view. Very good service and helpful. Limited menu. Hot chips cold. Coffee lukewarm. Other courses very nice. But Tandoori chicken with no rice? I will try it again and maybe try a pizza. I was hungry and it eased insufficient with portion size. I am keen to try their fine dining which I think is called Bert's
C. W.
Atmosphere is great and beer selection is pretty good. Food is a bit too expensive for what it is but I guess that's what you have to do to attract the young crowd.
S. W.
Good vibes, food average and over priced..
C. V.
Such a great place! Nice view and good food. Extensive cocktail and wine list. A family favourite
P. F.
This is by far the best pub you can find in Sydney for a nice beer, great food and excellent vibe. The outdoor space is so inviting and relaxing on sunny days. Service is very friendly, professional and fast
J. D.
It was very busy, childrens play area is pretty ordinary. Outdoor area is nice but it rained the night before the some of the outdoor area is a dirt/ gravel base and kids well, they get dirty! Still a nice place with good food and drink options but it still needs some work IMO. My kids just wanted to go back to Newport beach which has an awesome playground. That's definitely the gold standard in the area for kids. Good food around there too and you can always get take away beers😉.
W. 7.
Relaxed dinning with a great view
R. G.
This is a fantastic destination, with a huge outdoor seating area and amazing views of the pittwater. There are several food options ranging from burgers and Pizzas to fine dining. The beer and wine selection is pretty good, although it would be good to see some of the local craft beers on tap.
D. A.
The Newport is a terrific concept at an amazing location. It's got a continual holiday vibe and a wonderful selection of bars and kiosks to choose from. There's a family friendly area of games and large playing boards, and the live music stage sets the party scene perfectly. There's fresh wood fired pizza ovens, and great quality coffee. It's easy to get lost in the different levels of the courtyard but it's an amazing place to host your end of year party or drop in for that summer hangout!
A. B.
It is a very nice pub, super spacious, and it has with lots of TVs for sport. The service was excellent and the staff is friendly. Price was fair for what the pub offers!
I was expecting Newport to have some craft beers/beers from microbreweries, but the "craftest" I saw was Little Creatures - which I love and ordered, don't get me wrong! I was just expecting to see a tap or two of not so commercial beers. :)
It was my first time in Newport area, and I will surely visit the pub again!
J. F.
We were there on a Monday and had a very nice time enjoying a wine and a Pizza with our friends from interstate. The Wood Fired Pizza was lovely and all the staff were very polite and helpful. We have visited it on a weekend but found it too busy for us. By going during the week you get really good service. Would definately not suggest weekend visits.
G. R.
Nice location with a sea breeze not too strong. Relaxing, the food arrangement is a bit odd since you have to walk to different places to order if you planning to have different types. etc burgers, salads etc. Overall, a good place to relax and have a meal in peace.
A. Q.
Hands down, the best burger and chips I've had in many, many, many years. Solid effort guys!!! 🍔🤙🏾😎
L. N.
lovely place perfect for morning coffee, brunch, lunch, arvo cocktail and chill!!
K. O.
Pub is massive and has great views.
A.
We had a coeliac (to be treated as severe gluten allergy) request and they completely understood and catered for us! Have a separate fryer for chips which is very rare, we were super impressed. Will definitely be back again!!
A. E. (.
Loved the atmosphere there. Great place for friends and family outings. More than 3 places to choose food from. Small playing area, that can have a bit more kids toys. But the view is AWESOME.
C. I.
Excellent venue to dine. Had lunch here and there were different kitchens to choose what type of food you wanted. Excellent area for children to play in a safe environment. Beautiful outlook over the harbour. Most Enjoyable!
L.
A great location. Friendly staff. Great food - pizzas in particular. Busy and Buzzy.
P. B.
Went on a Saturday afternoon. Atmosphere was great, not too crowded and large outdoor area. Food was pricey but servings were big which made up for the price if you are sharing (Ordered Fish & Chips). Food came out quickly and tasted great.
D. T.
Amazing location, great vibe if the weather is good... food is average for that price, you'd expect better food especially the burgers menu.
Q. N.
Beautiful view of the bay. Great outdoor seating. Had what seemed was the limited outdoor menu which was good but nothing special. Did enjoy the prawns and chicken wings. Burger pretty average. Service this day was average and actually felt like they rushed us to order thru the night and get us to leave when the kitchen closed at 8pm. Places was half empty so not sure the rush.
E. P.
Amazing views, love the decor, an airy garden vibe with lots of little hidden pockets. I've been there a few times during the day and the music is way too loud.. especially during lunch hours. It's next to impossible to hear the person at the other end of the table and after a couple of hours it sends the kids crazy.
K. M.
This is an absolute must must must! I love The Newport! The gardens, the views the bars are like nowhere I've seen in Australia! It's so beautiful. Wow! 😄 The only downfall was the food. I've sadly had better burgers at Macca's. A big disappointment considering the price! Next time I will try the pizza.
L.
Great location and views overlooking the water #localitesSYD
M. S.
Lovely place for a drink... but the pub food is pretty plain. The cheeseburger ‘special sauce’ is bland, and the burger overall is pretty average. Pizzas minimalistic. Great place to go for happy hour!
h. m.
The place is perfect with lovely scenery during the day and wonderful atmosphere during the night, but besides the food is completely disappointing with low level of choices.
t. m.
The Newport - formerly known as ‘The Newport Arms’ - has a long history of being a wonderful place to enjoy a drink and meal in the sun. This is a big venue with picturesque views of Pittwater and on a good day can accommodate up to 1000 patrons. Having said that, this venue is highly weather dependent, should you want to sit in the beer garden. If you want to sit under cover then you should book ahead because under cover seating is very limited. My advice is that if it looks like it might rain then rethink your plans in order to avoid disappointment. Also, be aware that it can be cold and windy during winter, so be sure to check the weather before you set out. This review focuses predominantly on the beer garden with its food outlets which are all very good. If you want higher-end dining then The Newport is also home to the award winning Bert’s Bistro which is a comfortable, all-weather indoor dining experience.
K. M.
Excellent pizza and great music..DJ is sooo good!!!
A. H.
Awesome place for a day drink, good food options and just a nice and relaxed vibe. Very busy here but rightly so for a beautiful and openly inviting venue. Good drink options and plenty of seating outdoors!! Parking can be tricky but that's just Sydney.. there are parking spots nearby so get in early to get a spot.👌
N. S.
The pizza was very tasty. Whilst the antipasto was a bit overpriced, it was still yummy. Went during a school holiday weekend and there were heaps of staff clearing the tables up straight away. Loved the atmosphere and love that you’re allowed to bring dogs.
M. O.
Lots of seating. Simple but nice pub style menu. We chose a table service area which was good. Undercover seating with a water view. Wait staff helpful and good service.
J. S.
We love it here! Great vibe, large open spaces with differing themes throughout, a kids play area, lots of food and drink options, overlooking the water, always parking on the premises, and the staff are friendly and always willing to help.
N.
In a nutshell, STUNNING VENUE! After hearing so many good things about it, I had to give it a go. The venue is fantastic and the all setup and vibe is really unique. I think it is by far their best even compared to the popular Coogee Bay Pavilion. The food is also very good and surprisingly affordable. I was there with a baby and it is really easy to navigate with the Pram. They have loads of options to keep the kids busy as well.
The only minor thing that I found not practical was the order and pick up at the bar. Seeing the venue size I understand the no table service but without any buzzer or something, you have to wait for your order...
Overall great place, I'll def come back for more. :)
K. J.
Beautiful atmosphere, superb location. You’d expect nothing less from this hotel restaurant & nightclub chain. The Hemes certainly have a gift for hard work, commitment to their business & superb decor & outdoor settings. Go mid week. The weekends are painful. Most importantly, food’s quite good & price? Hmmm.. school’s out on that.
L. B.
It's been over 10 years since I have been here ! This has really turned into a great lil chilled bar to hang out at ! My *nephew below ! Loved the bowl of chippies and highly rated them while I sat back and got into some cider and pizza from the wood oven !! Could have sat there for hours n watched the world go by !! If U haven't been here do it !

Great place for a summer Lunch and drink
J. C.
I went there for a friends farewell party on a weekend. We were lucky we had prebooked our table because the whole place, cafe and outdoors, was packed with people. We had a great breakfast without a long wait time.
The staff were very attentive and helpful. I really like the places vibe and design of bars, juice stalls and coffee along with huge outdoor area, it is a great place to go and enjoy a drink and some good conversation while enjoying great view.
C. M.
Haven't been in decades. The Merivale theme of different areas is cool. The views are reduced from the past. Plenty of seating in shade. Bar service was a bit hit and miss. 11.30 am Sunday and the lemonade was out of sugar syrup. Said they'd bring us the drink. They forgot and then hadn't fixed the issue so changed to a Coke Zero which was flat. Too groovy. Needs to focus on service.
A. B.
Very laid back venue with a market style of foods ranging from pizzas, burgers and something more multi cultural. So you really shouldn't have a problem finding something you like. All reasonably priced. There was live entertainment while I was there. And being next to water gives it a very pleasant outlook.
F. M.
The place is amazing, I love the view and environment. But last time I was there I had a very bad experience with the service. It took more than 20 min to clear/tide the table we sat (was messy from previous customers). We were in the serviced area, and took 1 hour to them to bring our beers. We have to order it again and ask to the waitress many many times about our order. Staff need to improve a lot.

The vibe at this place is definitely the coolest part about it. It's basically a place you can bring you kids and let them run around while you get drunk. It's like a mini resort. There are 5 different food outlets scattered around plenty of seating. We went on a Saturday evening and the place was packed full of beautiful people having a great time. Drinks are decently priced but I will say that the food was kinda over priced for what you get.

Excellent pizza

Perfect for a Sunday Session 👌🏽🍹
E. F.
Great relaxing place with nature around. Nice food as well
P. F.
This is by far the best pub you can find in Sydney for a nice beer, great food and excellent vibe. The outdoor space is so inviting and relaxing on sunny days. Service is very friendly, professional and fast
M. T.
Definitely a favourite! Great operation, food, staff, entertainment and most importantly incredible view!!
J. H.
Simply the best beer garden in Sydney perhaps the world. That’s a big statement but I have never seen better in all my travels. What Merrivale have done to the gardens is a work of art and should be applauded. The food is acceptable but …
Z. B. G.
Amazing place, beautiful view, kid friendly
B. K.
Nice atmosphere although no gluten free options for pizzas , polite staff , upmarket venue, coming back soon
B. M.
Beautiful venue, if a little overpriced. The beer garden is spectacular. Spacious, fun and plenty of food/drink options. Kid friendly. Great in warm or cool weather. …
S. G.
The fish burger was dripping with oil ...definitely not worth the $23. Nice venue. Pity we were not able to enjoy the views as we were told those tables were booked even though they remained empty the entire time we were there.
C. B.
Great atmosphere, great variety of food and a great experience. We dined here for the first time in a long time and the refurbishment and renovation have brought the Newport alive. Great outdoor atmosphere, delicious food and drinks. Live music makes it fantastic. Will be back soon.
V. G.
Went there on a beautiful summer's day last Sunday.
7 of us and all our food was fabulous, we had a wonderful girl taking care of our table who was very helpful and friendly.
Great vibe, fantastic view and will definitely come back again soon.
J. S.
Nice place in a really pretty setting. However, have to chance my review after recent visit. Firstly, the sunday surcharges are a bit of a joke. All popular places get loads of more sales on a Sunday, thus charging a Sunday surcharge is simply ripping the customers off.
We ate a pizza and a burger with beers. I had to get the pizza from one place, the burger from another and the beers from yet another bar. And queue in all of those.thenni I had to run around the place second time to get the portions. On top of this, we waited 25 minutes for someone to clear and wipe the table. Finally did it myself
B. P.
Crowded. If you like to queu come here. There is a line for drinks, a line for pizza, a line for fish & chips. Impossible to eat a meal together. Tables held for Hendricks and Paul for 1pm still vacant at 2.30pm! $9 for a glass of Chandon & about $40 for a dozen oysters. No complaints about the quality of food & drink. Try a day other than Sunday.

Great lunch spot in the sun

The Newport was great. The food was tasty and the location amazing. There are different areas and each with a different type and style of food. There is indoor and there is outdoor. I should career for almost everyone who enjoys good food and drinks with friends on a location with views.
Highly recommended.
E. N.
Loved the location and the food. Was happy they had developed a method for persons under the age of 18 to enter.
J. L.
First time I've been since it was renovated. It was a rainy evening so couldn't enjoy the view but everything else looked so different but nice. Awesome selection of beers on tap and had a pizza from the wood fired oven which was very tasty.
R.
More like a resort than a hotel, this place is enormous yet beautifully laid out and decorated. The food options are plentiful and the service is quick and friendly. If coming here at peak hour in the peak of summer/autumn, street parking might be a bit of a challenge.
L. C.
Wide selection of food but some dishes from the different "outlets" are better than others.
Our group grabbed chicken wings, cheeseburgers, pizzas, salad, fish and chips, calamari and a prawn bucket. The wings were amazing, pizzas and prawns, cheeseburger and salad good, but fish and chips and calamari just OK.
There's ample parking, plenty of space to sit if you get there pre rush. If you're lucky you can get some seating on the West side with table service, makes it easier for big groups.
l. h.
Simply one of the best pubs in Sydney. Amazing outdoor area with terraces that caters for every taste, and every age group. If you have kids then the kids are is a brilliant space to have a beer and some food whilst the kids madly play table tennis and other games. Food is great for a pub...idyllic views. A must.
J. B.
Great venue down on the water. Quality food also
J. D.
Love the environment and ambiance of this place we came here often
R. V.
Good atmosphere overpriced by about 3 or 4 dollars with most food items but overall good food. If your on a budget dont eat or drink here but if your comfortable with money deffinatley recommend
J. L.
Great ambiance, good food. You also get nice views if you sit near the patio.
M. S.
Great views, friendly staff, beautiful setting. Even during COVID-19 it's a haven to visit and enjoy being outdoors. The food is pricy but tasty and we look forward to going there again.
C. L.
Such a feeling of French Provence, next time I'll bring the petanque balls! Fantastic location, great atmosphere. The only thing that I find average is the food. Maybe an additional booth with more sophisticated dishes on Saturday nights?
R.
What a great way to spend the afternoon! Feel like a Mediterranean resort, wonderful ambience.
Service and cocktails amazing! Friendly and helpful staff. A must visit for anyone heading up to the Northern Beaches.
L. W.
A very very large outdoor beer garden area combined with an old style pub with gaming facilities makes The Newport worth a visit. The outdoor area although at times is very crowded and confusing, never makes you feel too crowded. Is certainly pricey due to a monopoly over the area however isn't too excessive. Ordered the fish burger, which was excellent, come well presented and with a side of chips. Everything tasted very fresh. The only major improvement required is to replace the beer jugs, they are extremely difficult when pouring from the top to not spill at the start of each jug.
M. O.
Amazing bar. Went here on Boxing Day, it's kinda like being at a community festival. The atmosphere and set up is great for a group. Good range of beers and wood fired pizzas are quite good.
M. L.
Food at The Shack arrived quickly and hot, tasted average.
The bar was a miss - staff very slow, post mix was flat - filling drinks just over half way and filling with ice, customers would all look at each other and comment - looks like this is just how they make drinks but I don’t pay $11 for half a pint of cider and half a pint of ice/water. Staff weren’t polite and looked pretty over it at only 7pm. Music was average. A place like this at this time of year should have a great local vibe - just was really flat. Ehh. Won’t travel a long way for that again.
I. N.
What a great place to enjoy a meal as the sunset!!! Great variety of meals - wonderful areas to enjoy a meal for two or three or for even larger groups - all separated by delightful low hedges to create a sense of privacy. A small fountain and pool in the middle of the terrace area as well as a section with a large screen to watch television programs of music videos.
J. T.
Always a good atmosphere and choice of food on offer. The tables in the back corner overlooking the water is worth lunch there alone!
N. P.
Beautiful look out, nice restaurant, somehow expensive regarding food quality.
You need to book in advance if you’d like to have a fantastic view towards water while drinking or eating your meal, though.
J. D.
Great pub if you're under the age of 15. If you're 18+ then it's probably a good place for a "cold one with the boys", and if you're under 18 it's a good place for water and lemonade. Rated it 4 stars cause the stools are too damn high. 😉
R. S.
Nice venue, Good atmosphere beautiful views of the ocean, food is good only annoying thing is you have to go to different parts of venue to order different foods from menus. Would be 5 star rating except that jugs of water and drinks are served in rusty jugs. Venue management please address this issue.
0.
Good setting, friendly staff but the single worst margerita pizza I've ever had, overly burnt edges, soggy base, drowned in sauce with not enough basil and worst of all unmelted cold mozzarella on top, when i enquired that is apparently how it is served.....k then. Enjoy your soggy pizzas.
S. K.
What an amazing establishment. It's incredible what they've done with this place. Awesome terrace area in the sun with beautiful views over the water and boats. Great food and drinks and plenty of space. Great for functions and there is even a kids area.
E. R.
Lovely gardens and view with good food. Our calamari was cold (I think it had been sitting on the pass a bit too long while they cooked the fish and chips) but they replaced it for us straight away.
L. H.
A great spot to sit back and enjoy a few cocktails, pizza and finger food, and take in the surroundings and quality live music in the sprawling outdoor area. Definitely worth a visit if you are in the area. Quite a trendy crowd, so dress well.
J. P.
Great venue with beautiful views. Went here for Anzac Day and two up. There are a couple of different eateries here. A bakery, grill, and seafood place. The bar has a couple of different brews on tap. Plenty of seating with a stage for performances.
A. D.
Loved it. Amazing views. Fresh beer on tap. The pizza was amazing and it's dog friendly.
D. S.
The Newport is an outstanding venue with a wonderful atmosphere. The ambiance achieved with the funk music, small courtyards and scattered eateries is unparalleled. Reasonably expensive food and drinks is justified by the great setting. Food from the Shack is prepared extremely quickly, but I would recommend the delicious Napoli style pizza.
L. D. M.
Beautiful venue, and the staff were really helpful in accommodating our large group with umbrellas when it rained. Only enough parking for a venue 1/5th the size. Great pizza, but the chicken burgers were severely over priced for being so basic. Might as well have gone to Macca's. LITERALLY. Burger buns were that horrible cheap white sugary bread :-/
G. L.
Great vibe, décor and layout. The food is typical Merivale, so expect it to be modern, simple and a little pricey but all worth it. The pizzas are surprisingly good and so were the salads (decent size). Drinks again typical of city prices but you pay for what you get with the surrounds, so no complaints. Family-friendly.
M. T.
Lovely place for a family outing. Gets crowded, but there's a lot to do. Personally I find the situation with ordering food in different spots around the place stressful. It's takes the first hour running back and forth to all the food spots and bars to get orders in, weaving through the crowds, trying to stop the table from being pinched. They should have an app to order from, then you just collect your meal.
It's dog friendly!
i. s.
Lovely location, menu very limited as is their wine selection. Think they could do so much better given the fantastic destination m
S. P.
Excellent views and atmosphere, but food isn't great and drinks expensive. Still you pay for location. Annoying to have to order from multiple places for different cuisine but can't fault some variety. Salads, seafood, burgers and pizza options. Prices around high teens to mid forties for mains, kids meals $12 are about the same size (except pizza). Drinks aren't consistent - lemon lime bitters without the bitters for example. Also you can reserve but annoying that if someone reserves a spot but it's not to their liking staff will try and kick you out of the unreserved locations. Really poor hosting and service.
A. S.
The location is perfect and the food great pub food but you feel like you are eating in more than a pub. It's an event just to be there. Had a very relaxed and fun afternoon with family.
S. H.
Always a beautiful experience. Staff are also very kind
J. K.
It's totally not how I remember it, but the layout, privacy and rabbit Warren bars splattered everywhere gives you this sense of adventure. A great place and the staff were great! It's definitely a must destination next time I'm in Sydney, but a word of caution - a taxi straight from the airport will set you back a cool $130! Hehe well worth it though...
S. S.
An iconic Northern Beaches pub, which just keeps getting better with age and a few renovations. A delightful place to enjoy a cold glass of beer, French Rose and some salt & pepper squid. Check out their Margarita Pizza!!
A. G.
One of my favourite places - especially on a beautiful sunny day. Spent the day on the faux grass and sun chairs under big beach umbrellas and it was a truly spectacular way to spend the day after our wedding! Food is nice too. A little pricey but for the view it's worth it. Love the arms!!
UPDATE: More recently with new merivale ownership it's even better! So easy to spend the day here, yummy food and love the different food shacks with specialty food and drink!! Still 5 star if not 6 now!!
E. D. F.
Great venue and variety of food. Staff friendly and helpful. The only thing missing was the Cafe being open to have coffee and dessert.
b. p.
Quaint area with beautiful views of the water, trees and doggos playing on the other side. Wouldn't recommend coming when raining due to lack of sheltered seats. Fish and chips from the cafe was amazingly done. Kind of weird setting where you have to pick up drinks from one end, fast food from another and pizza from the middle.
B. T.
Wow how good is this place ..expensive but worth it quality
J.
An awesome array of food options in separate little units specialising in specific styles of cuisine. A tad pricey, but great quality. Amazing views of the bay and an interesting crowd... Its a venue that's interesting for people watching, catching up with friends, dates or large get togethers. All up, a pretty funky venue, particularly in the summer months.
E. C.
Lovely place .. all the food and drink you need to spend a luxurious afternoon with views and live music.
J. D.
Booked a table so we could have table service only to be told on arrival that they don't serve tables on a public holiday. Would have been nice to be told at the time of booking.
A. B.
They have really hit the mark with good food and fast service. Some food is priced about 5 years ahead of its time, but some meals are still reasonable. would like to see more craft beer at every bar.
P. B.
Amazing pub with brilliant atmosphere. Beer garden is possibly THE best beer garden in Australia. Large variety of culinary options to cater for many different tastes. Friendly staff and outrageously good service!
a. t.
Superb beer garden. This place is perfect for a family Sunday lunch, where adults can enjoy one or two drinks ( they serve pints!),while the children are playing in the playgrounds. It is massive and you have all sorts of seating areas, but the best views are if you sit outside overlooking Pitt water.
However, the food is a bit average. If they had a gastro-pub food menu, they would be one of the worlds best pubs!
C. B.
It's ok but even with the massive renovations I fear it falls short on how it used to be. Prices are quite high ($18 for a banh mi!) and the place is packed. No lazy Sundays lying on the grass watching cricket. There's also not enough parking anymore with people having to park down the road and walk. It's a pretty clear example of trying to cram more people in and take more money with no care about the loss of atmosphere or general comfort.
B. K.
Nice atmosphere although no gluten free options for pizzas , polite staff , upmarket venue, coming back soon
P. L.
An iconic hotel that has absolutely everything with big bars & live entertainment ( during weekends ) on an outdoor stage. There is a even a wading pool and playground for kids . Grab a table with views of Pitt Water & enjoy a fabulous selection of modestly priced food, served from small kitchens in a garden landscape . There is a courtesy bus which runs to and from Manly wharf to this pub. Your family will love this venue.
G. W.
The old Newport Arms is now known as 'The Newport '. Approaching down Beaconsfield road go past the front of the Hotel and a few meters further on, to the left, is a side rd. (Turn here) which has some st.parking but leads to the Hotels large carpark again on the left. Hotel has stood the test of time for location (right over looking the water). It's large beer garden has ample seating and styles of seats. There is a large variety of food types and outlets but is up there for 'pub' prices re the food
Good drinks selection and ideal for kids with additional entertainment area etc. for them
8 out of 10!
L. S.
Awesome spot on the water with an amazing variety of food and drink options.
I love the different shacks for food, it gives a really nice feel and saves you from ordering from a single menu.
We went to the table service area and the ladies were fantastic
P. J.
Absolutely sprawling establishment for everyone with lots of taste of food, drinks, atmosphere. But most importantly is the stunning views from the balcony on a warm summers day.
B. F.
Fantastic atmosphere. More popular than ever. Host events well and nice variety of food. Not very cheap but still affordable. Never had a bad experience!
S. S.
Popular drinking spot on northern beaches. We had an issue with seating leading to a an a argument with one of the wait staff. To the manager's credit, he apologised, resolved the issue quickly and moved on. Great views and many food options
O. V.
Great place for big company, to drink, order food and relax.
Parking can be challenging depending on the time of the day, but otherwise great place.
There are various food options (sweet, burgers, pizza, seafood) and good selection of drinks.
Very kids friendly with nice kids play area.
M. T.
Definitely a favourite! Great operation, food, staff, entertainment and most importantly incredible view!!
K. B.
A lovely place for lunch.
S. R.
Me and my family love this place although wait times can be very long so doesn't get 5*, apart from that its great.
P. M.
Fantastic place for lunch and an afternoon beer with friends! Great view, infrastructure and variety of options for food and drinks! Parking is available but was full, so we spent around 15 minutes to find a spot on the road! Worth a visit though, I recommend!
A. H.
Nice food and great view. Thanks!
T. H.
Their renovated beer garden is a beautiful place. It has feels of amusement park or town fair rather than a bistro.
If their food ordering system is too much for you, head to table service area, where friendly wait staff will bring everything right to your table with no additional cost.
R. S.
A great place to pop into for a drink with friends or to grab a bite to eat at the various food stalls. The staff were lovely and we managed to get a nice spot by the fire to enjoy our drinks and keep toasty warm! We'll be back!
A. S. A.
Stunning views and facilities all top notch! You definitely feel out of the city when you're there! Service all around is great, my only comment is that it's easy to get confused where to buy good as you have a menu that may require you to go to 3 different places to order. However the food is great!
W. P.
I really like this place. It has a huge outdoor area which makes you feel like your at a resort. The beer selection is great and prices, although not cheap are still ok considering everything. Staff are really friendly too.
C. M.
Great venue and a great place to chill with friends. Awesome food that you just can't stop eating, with a good wine selection. Family atmosphere and dog friendly. Highly recommend.
J. H.
Great burgers and fast service.
M. S. (.
I hadn't been to The Newport for many years. In fact, it was then known as The Newport Arms. Merivale has massively improved the place.
It is themed like a resort or cruise ship, with live entertainment, various styles of cuisine (mainly Thai and great pizzas from their two large pizza ovens), and several different areas to sit and eat (with their own bars). There is also a lovely view across Pittwater to Bayview.
Importantly for us, there is a kids' area with table tennis tables, large Jenga blocks, scrabble on the wall, a large Connect 4 game, and a funky icecream van. We parents are also able to dine in the area where the kids are playing, which was welcomed.
It was very busy on the Sunday that we attended. A booking is important to secure a table on the deck.
There is parking on site, as well as in the surrounding streets. Despite this, it was a challenge to get a parking spot.
The credit card surcharge was annoying (even though Amex is not accepted), particularly when the food and drinks are priced at a level where you would think that such a cost could be absorbed.
All in all, a lovely experience and one that we are likely to enjoy again.
J.
We love it.
P.
Great atmosphere, extremely hospitable. Wait staff were attentive and came and checked in for drinks at the perfect times. If I lived closer, I'd be here every weekend
D. M.
Amazing location. They have done a marvelous job. The pizza was outstanding. Don't know about the other food and priced well. Great place to go to with a good friend or an entire bunch of friends
S. A.
People need to give this place a chance, it is not finished yet! So far they have done an amazing job. The staff are trained extremely well and are polite helpful and friendly. The seafood is fresh, you must try the Alaskan crab omelette, it is to die for!!! It's exactly what The Northern beaches needs, a cool, hip, funky local, with a great variety of fresh food and good tunes playing with the beautiful Pittwater as a backdrop. Can't wait to see this place when it's finished. We've been 3 times now and loved it!
L. O.
Amazing pizza and fish and chips, great selection of drinks. Loses a star because every time we go they seem to have live music on at extremely loud volumes- great if you want to listen! But not good for chatting.
L. L.
Great location. Excellent menu, food was great. Service a little disjointed with drinks missed and slow. Fabulous cocktails!
Overall great place to go.
M. B.
Dog friendly, lots of different choices for food and with it being right on the waterfront the view is incredible. A great place to go with family and big groups of friends!
K. R.
Always a brilliant place to visit! Relaxed, cool vibes. Great for adults and kids. Delicious food. Best fish and chips in Sydney!
L. W.
Impressive set up. Always very busy but seem to be lucky enough to find a table each time we go. Great place to take visiting guests for the experience and lots of options for food and beverage!
S. P.
Great atmosphere, lots of variety for the taste buds when it comes to needing a feed, and great views of the surrounding waterways, overall, a fantastic experience had by all... Parking can be quite hard to find tho, but otherwise, a lovely place to spend ones time!
Z. M.
Modern pub with HUGE outdoor area containing different food and drink outlets. Definitely a crowd pleaser as there's something to suit everyone's taste here from Fish and Chips, to salads and wood fired pizzas to Asian dishes, beer to cocktails. Worth walking all the way through to the back of the outdoor seating to appreciate its location on the water too.
A. P.
Expansive outdoor eat and drink area reminiscent of a beach club on the Med but without pool or beach. Try to visit when its not frantically busy as it's all a bit overwhelming and noisy, food is pretty good and range of beverages, wine and cocktails is all you would need. Ordering food from the randomly position food "outlets" and waiting for it to then carry back to the table you have managed to grab is pretty tedious. There is a table service area but this requires a long wait or a party of 10 to make a booking. The fine dining restaurant upstairs is rediculous ly expensive.
N. K.
Great location and tasty food. We had pizza and the diner burger...very delicious.
From our side the only reason we don’t give 5 stars is that we think it is a little overpriced for what the sizes of the portions are
But generally a great place to spend any time of your day there!!
M. B.
Lovely venue! Amazing seafood and great cocktails
M. E.
Great young kids play area, with a giant scrabble board, table tennis, giant jenga, connect 4 and bowling. You can grab a coffee while the young ones run around.
Plenty of room to sit in groups or as a couple. There is a range of food outlets and a glorious view over the water with table service.
When the sun is shining there are few better places to be.
A.
Great view, lovely ambiance, the old fashioned play area was very cute and fun, delicious cocktails and very nice food, not cheap, but decent. Good music, not too loud.
J. M.
Great pub, excellent facilities, very good food although perhaps a bit expensive, but good quality. Broad range of choices in all areas including beer, wine, cocktails and food variety. Great entertainment. Very busy venue so take public transport or Uber.
N. S.
This place is awesome It was a good discover
Right on the water front, they have good live music, good selection of food and drink!
I can’t wait to go back it is a bit hidden and that’s why i love it too, you do not feel that u are in the northen beaches
M. T.
Large hotel catering for all tastes .live music lovely setting
P. M.
Merivale venue with the usual good quality stuff
M. C.
Beautiful venue. So relaxed with great choice of food. Get there early on a Sunday for best spot and quick service. Really friendly staff.
R. S.
Hard to fault the new Newport. Fish, pizzas, salads and a cocktail bar. It Das already one of the best beer gardens in Australia but now it is pretty unbeatable. Great views. Good food. The water curtains are a neat touch. Just get there early it fills up very fast. Look up the entertainment guide too as there is live music most days.
