Comments of The Royal George
Went for happy hour and beers were extremely cheap! They also had some happy hour meal deals. Was a nice experience and pleasant atmosphere
Nice atmosphere and good food. Service is fast and polite. Chicken wings are a signature dish here and highly recommended. It is a pub so don't expect Michelin Starr quality food but will absolutely do the job when you are spending the night out with friends.
Great pub, good vibe, great specials during happy hour. Definitely worth a stop in for a pint or two!
Good pub with good selection of beers on tap. Good ambience, tennis was on the TVs 👌🏽
Night place to hangout and have happy hour meal from 5-7p.m. weekdays... and listen to music.. have your cozy time with your friend and family.. play pool.. enjoy relax.. only thing is not much variety of food/drink on happy hour menu..
The Hub!? Reasonably priced drinks. Great position. Can be very busy, or relaxed on street side.
Very cute little pub in the CBD area. The finger foods are really good! Service is pretty fast as well.
Food is solid pub fare. Pricey but pretty much standard for central Sydney. Lovely staff
You walk into a nice rustic looking bar. The area is air conditioned and has a lovely feel to it. Downstairs has a cool pool table. Food was decently priced and worth the amount paid being a city venue on george st.
Staff Amazing Very Clean and Staff Superb!!!! Especially Vanessa the Manager Went Above And Beyond to make us feel welcome. I Gave her 10 Star's
The pub is crowded with Wynyard office workers after 5pm. I love seeing that happy hour apero! Great pub. This pics is on Satarday afternoon.
Recently visited this quaint little bar, nestled in amongst so many other popular establishments it was a cosy and naturally gave me a feeling of welcoming. I perused the menu to satisfy most tastes and was happy to find exactly what I was needing - Chicken Parmi and chips...as basic as it sounds I am a connoisseur of this culinary delight and accompanied with a pint of Super Dry I had my socks knocked off!
Although I had expected a slight hint of pretentiousness from initial viewings it was not like this at all, it was welcoming it's atmosphere was very pleasant and the crowd attracted here were relaxed and sufficiently catered for... Everyone was happy and this showed through the smiles and friendliness cast around the upper bar area.
Chicken Parmi and great chips Thankyou I will be back one day Sydney - Royal on George! 😊😊😊
Tab and order and pay is convenience. Take a while to clean up table but overall was alright.
Nice place to relax and chill, busy but not crazy when I went with family. Friendly staff with great attitudes, always clearing the glasses off our tables and very courteous.
Happy Hour (5-7pm) and hot wings are brilliant at the George. Get there early to get a seat, but it is a top spot for a post-work drink.
Great ambience. Loved to hang out with my mob from work.
Amazingly during Happy Hour 4-7pm we enjoyed exceptionally good $1 dollar wings, $10 burgers and $6 pints of Kosciuszko's.....well played guys, well played!! 👏
Surprisingly good pub given it's position & deceptive from the outside. Has a great pool room at the back to chill out in.
Staff were exceptionally friendly and lunch was very nice!
I went there last week with my parents and it was very crowded. My experience there was nice, my father has an allergy and doesn't hear very well, but we received special attention from Helem.
This friendly and smiley girl helped him all the time and made sure his food was safe for him to eat, also the wine that she recommended matched perfectly with the food.
Nowadays is not easy to find great service in Sydney, but This place is very nice from this point of view
Nice hotel with good happy hour's offer. Worth a visit , can get crowded on Fri afternoon.
I love this place. Full stop. Located conveniently on George Street they have good beer and great prices and food from the kitchen that packs a punch. Happy hour is a must on a Friday afternoon. Its great to see a traditional pub style venue in amoungst all their other overpriced neighbours. A must for any visitor or local.
Nice food and friendly staff great place to catch up with friends, head over during happy happy hour the wings are pretty good at $1 per wing
Love their happy hours. Good price for drinks and wings.
Very busy and loud in the afternoon during weekdays, hard to find seats.
Weekends are much quieter.
Service is generally good.
Food is good just that it's pricey. Environment is nice.
It was pretty quiet when I went but the service was fast and the meals were great.
Great pub, $6 wines and $7 pints from 4-7 with amazing $1 wings. Good service and great pool table, highly recommend. Just gets super busy at night so tough to sit down and gets loud, as expected from a bar in george street.
Great service. Good Australian beer choices and tasty burger.
Chicken wings were beautiful, however Nachos not so much in fact it was terrible, the truth is that you & I could make better at home.
Oh & the beer was okay.
I would probably give 3.4 star's
Enjoyed a Sunday lunch here given that most places are closed Sunday downtown.
Excellent service and a really nice pie for lunch.
Nice pub in the cbd. Closest thing to an old pub unless you go down into the rocks in the city.
Just increased their prices, but happy hour 5-7 $7 pints on all beers. Cheap (good!) chicken wings, can be hard getting to bar, but nice busy atmosphere.
Great for beers and food.
Ordering via the app is hit and miss and bar staff will argue that drinks were delivered when they clearly weren't.
A fantastic spot for happy hour with good food, pints of beer, free pool on a lovely table, and a nice ambiance with the dark lighting. Staff have always been lovely and the service is good. A popular spot for a beer after work among many of the professionals in the area. Worth checking out at the start of the night to catch the $6 pints then returning to later for a late evening Guinness.
'It's perfectly fine. You're looking at a mostly upstairs with a VIP smoker's den downstairs, outside of which is a lone pool table. It's fine, the prices are fine, the staff were fine, the food was ok. In terms of pricing these are on the upper side of average, but again, it's fine. If you're looking for a bar which is fine but nothing more or less, then the royal is for you. There is about 40 odd seats which fill fast on busy nights.
We rate it as a 'fine for lunch beers' but otherwise unnotable.
Boring beer range. Staff proficient but nothing beyond that. Tasty spicy chicken wings. Medium volume level, no need to shout to be heard yay. A bit more effort re. beers and friendliness and this could be a nice Sunday afternoon hideaway.
In my opinion, one of the best boozers in the Sydney cbd. Looks like nothing from the outside, however booming atmosphere when inside. Good range of beers at a decent price. Food isn’t bad and there’s a half size snooker table downstairs that you can play for free by simply handing over your driving licence at the bar for the balls/chalks.
Five stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I had a really good meal here and a few beers. My friend said they had one of the best steaks in their life and I had a party which was delicious. Beers on tap were the typical sort and no craft breweries were on tap.
Great venue, great service, great beer
Ducked in for a feed with the footy. Was wonderfully surprised by the fantastic service, especially from our waitress Ally. Very attentive and couldn't do enough for you. I had the fried chicken burger and it was awesome. Good atmosphere, good food and good beer. Thank you very much.
A very busy upstairs bar on a Tuesday night. I was charged full price for pints towards the end of happy hour which was annoying, but other than that and having to scream for my sister to hear me tell her about my holiday, it was pleasant enough. A pool(might have even been snooker) table resides downstairs but that’s all I can say about the lower portion.
Nice pub with a decent happy hour, it's got a big pool table down stairs and a nice pokie room with a good selection of complemtory snacks for the gamers. The place is chockas on a Friday with the afternoon office drinkers. There's nothing wrong with the food here too! This reviewer would describe the menu as 'up market pub grub'. This might be nitpicking, but the glassware is often warmish which can be off-putting especially when you're drinking a beer. Not to worry the glass temp didn't effect my review and I'll definitely be back. Cheers!
Good spot for an after work drink, food is classic pub fare done well. Can be a bit of a labyrinth looking for people but good overall
Great food and reasonably priced drinks. Gets a very busy later in the week though
Ok pub, prices are good.
I had the special pasta of the day, the meat was really good however the sauce didn't really taste of anything. The ones I was with seemed to enjoy their food. Probably more of a drinking place than eating
A great place and centrally located in Sydney harbour. Good happy hour in a sea of mostly overpriced tourist joints. Get some fresh beers and some happy hour food and sit outside and people watch. Also a really nice upstairs with a classic English pub vibe. Strike up a conversation with another table, there are people from all over the world.
Great food and great environment
Great location, right near a tram stop.
Order at your table using QR or NFC and get your food and drinks delivered!
Came in today around 3 and went into the gaming room, we looked a little lost as the smoking area had gone but the lovely lady saw we were confused and without asking she came up to us and say hi, anything you need, so we asked about the smoking and she told us with covid they have changed things and told us what to do to have a cigarette, 5 mins later she offered us a free food box, wasn't the best food but hey it's free and yummy, thank you for making us feel welcome and because it was 2 of us playing 1 machine there was no stigma and moved signs around so we could play together and still social distance, such a good and friendly environment thank you xx
The Royal George is a not a pub frequented by any royalty. The chances of you meeting your Prince Frederick are incredibly slim to none. But same could have been said of Slip Inn and look what happened to Mary. With that said, the beers at the Royal George are cheap and cheerful. They have a couple of the old favourites on tap including Lashes, Koziouscko Pale Ale and trusty Hahn Super Dry - in case the Sydney winters turn into summer.
There aren't a lot of pubs open during COVID-19 but the Royal George is. It's got a few too many steps and the toilets are a little tucked away but there's plenty of seating.
Drinks are a little expensive here.
One of my favourite bars for a knock-off pint or 2. Great value at $6 a pint. The huge chicken wings are a 'must try' at $1 each.
$7 pints and $6 house basics and wine in addition to $1 wings (full wings too) EVERY day between 4-7pm make this place my go to everytime I stay in Sydney.
Great atmosphere, free pool and friendly staff just add to the reasons you NEED to check this place out.
An interesting pub on a very busy George Street at Wynyard. This pub is part of the Ivy complex.
I have been in here a few times, as it is at a very easy and convenient location.
Between 5-7 week days that have happy hour. A pint of a local beer for $5.
The bar gets busy but you can always manage to find a table.
The food is well priced and normally pretty yummy. Their chicken wings are amazing even if a little spicy.
The only thing that I don't like about this pub is its decor and design. The theme is brick. Exposed brick with wooden furniture with no features. It's really dull.
The lighting is always dimly lit but in a good way, and although noisy you can still hear the conversation of your party.
A cheap beer after work - yes. Something a bit more intimate - there are much better places near by.
Ambience is lovely, great place to go with friends.
Lost stars for terrible service. Staff took 20 minutes to pour us drinks that we had ordered while we waited at the bar, and served other customers.
Bar staff are very helpful. Food was quite expensive for small portions. But they gave out free springs rolls and nuggets later in the night. Overall, an enjoyable night out .
Like to go there after work sometimes. Close to Wynyard station and it has a good atmosphere. There is a decent variety of beers on tap and enough bar tenders so you get served quickly.
Very charming location for a drink. Good mix both upstairs and downstairs. Cosy couches and setup for a nice drink or food after work. Excellent food options and a really good happy hour. $5 house spirits
Quite a narrow pub, although does have a fair bit of seating for the size. $5 happy hour from 5-7pm everyday means that it is always packed. Good is standard pub food, probably wouldn't suggest the Arachini Balls.
Really quaint little place. Had the tennis on, friendly staff and free pool on a large pool table if you're will to part with your ID while you're playing
Awesome food. Excellent service - went above and beyond. Had a staff member dedicated to cleaning. Highly recommended :-)
Good pub which adjoins to the ivy complex (it is directly below the ivy Ballroom). Drinks are reasonably priced. I got a pint of Furphy for $10 among other things, so you can't complain about that.
The pool table is free to use, you just need to put a credit card down at the bar as a bond.
Where the rating slipped was that a glass was broken by the glassie directly in front of where I was sitting (which is fine- that happens) due to overstacking of glassware. The shards were left on the ground posing a dangerous situation if someone were to trip. He didn't come back to clean it up though, meaning I had to handle the broken glass myself to clean it up.
Otherwise a positive experience.
Amazing pub. Good vibe. Must have $1 chicken wings.
Came here for a Friday lunch with colleagues and ordered the pork belly which was very tasty. Didn't need to wait long to be served at the bar and food came out quickly. Nice relaxed atmosphere
Nice ambience and friendly staff, but a very underwhelming beer selection. Also could not be bothered to help a customer with a plastic baggie. With so many great options in the vicinity there is not much incentive to return.
Friendly staff. Enjoyable atmosphere.
Free Pool and Nice ambience.
Decent after work watering hole smack bang in the middle of the CBD (pretty much directly opposite Wynyard station). Great Royal happy hour (5-7pm) (everyday of the week) specials on beer and wine and best of all $1 chicken wings. On the down side this place does get packed easily and bar food is super expensive (see photo of menu) as it's being served by the Merivale kitchens. Definitely recommend for a quick drink.
Good venue but shame about the ongoing construction on George street
We originally wanted to enjoy drinks upstairs at the ivy pool bar prior to having dinner at Uccello, however ended up at Royal George due to bad weather.
It is a quaint 'little' pub, with low lighting and a buzzing atmosphere.
I am unsure if it was more packed than usual due to being so close to X-Mas, but it seemed to be a popular place for after work drinks either way.
It is quite 'compact' so may not be ideal for bigger groups as it is quite narrow.
We were however lucky to score a table, but it took quite a while to order our drinks at the bar.
Back in 2014-2015, I had the best curry I've EVER tasted from this pub. That record still stands.
When I'm down in Sydney, The Royal George is my place of choice. Great beer on tap and great food. Whether you're looking for a nice place to have a drink, catch up with friends or business colleagues after work or even have a great night out, Whatever time of day or night, The Royal George has the atmosphere you're looking for. See you there!
Great happy hour from 5-7 pm with $6 pints. The pub is so cozy with a great finish; even the toilets are nice! Favourite pub in Sydney
Fantastic place - dimly lit, cosy and intimate. Background music creates a lovely atmosphere where you can actually have a conversation with your companions. The food is very good - beef pie is a star but so is the chicken gnocchi :-) Prices are reasonably. I found the staff very accomodating and attentive to our group booking. I definitely recommend this gem hidden in plain sight along George St.
Been here for dinner two times during the weekdays once in November, once in June. Very good service, good selection of beers and nice food. reasonably priced for the location and usually have tables free though it is a popular haunt!
Nice & clean place, friendly staff.
The food was really nice and the staff were friendly. The service was fast as well.
Not a bad pub...better suited to winter or days of rain. Good choice of beer and food though
Love it. $7 pints, $6 glass of bubbles, $1 wings 4-7pm on a Friday. Its our Friday bar of choice. What's not to love
Very friendly staff, excellent happy hour, great food and great vibe! 10/10 recommend
$1 wings (massive spicy chicken wings) on Saturday between 5-7pm and they were absolutely delicious. We weren't expecting much with it being so cheap but god they were good!
Food was ok. The place asks for your credit card before you get to order food - this is for a sit down lunch. A big no no - even NSW Police has a campaign not to give out your credit cards like that.
Nice pub with good selection of beers and pub food options. Pool table downstairs is free to use and is out of the way making for a nice quiet area for a game or two.
Was only here for the happy hours. A busy place with reasonable prices. $6 prices in happy hours 5-7pm, even on Fridays, is not bad at all. Good first place to start a night out drinking!
Long established hotel in a busy area.
Good place to have a drink, especially after work. It gets a bit noisy and the area is business people environment. Happy hour is until 7.
Amazing staff - Maria went out of her way to come outside to give me my debit card. I wish all bar staff were like her. Take a page out of her book everyone xx
Great bar and more importantly, great staff. Best bar in Sydney CBD. Food and atmosphere first class.
Happy hour $6 pints and $1 wings, can't go wrong. Plus the wings are cooked well, great sauce
Fantastic range of drinks and friendly staff without attitude
Got a free beer last evening, the music was good, the chips were good and the ambience was nice too
One of only a few places to have a good happy hour with 5 buck pints on premium beers. Plenty of space so you won't feel too crowded.
Can get pretty crowded at lunch sometimes but it's usually good to find a table or sit at the bar. Drinks are well priced considering the location in the heart of the business district.
Lively atmosphere and tasty parmas.
Good venue in a great location.
Happy hour between 5-7on select beers and wines...
Very welcoming pub. Very cheap drinks 5-7pm. Small food menu till very late. Food good and tap beer selection great of boutique beers
Good place, with good beer and ok prices. Better vloser to weekends when it gets a bit busier.
All tap pints $7 from 4pm to 7pm. Good pub food (burgers, schnitzels and steaks). Pretty lively.
Great late night venue! Can't wait for the pool table to open again.
Great happy hour. The wings are amazing.
Really nice but busy place. Had a great happy hour deal...Nice pool table downstairs...Highly recommended...
Good food and great beers. Overall not to pricey for good value. The crowd can be very rowdy on Friday .
Very strict Covid policy in place with workers hovering over you. It has to be done but be prepared for it if you’re going for some pints.
$5 pints from 5-7, really nice food options.
A bit dive-y, but very popular nevertheless. Definitely one of my after-work regular haunts.
Chicken burger is tasty. Decent selection of beers. Not a bad place for a pub lunch in the middle of the city.
Multi Level pub with a full size pool table that looks as though it is rarely used seeing it is nowhere near the bar... Good selection of beer and wine
They are really make us happy even though we can only order beer (cause we came here so early)
All of worker really kind !! Thanks guys
Amazing pork chop and QR code beers etc... life is good
Good drinks. Reasonable happy hour. Friendly crew, active and caring. Good drinks, quality food.
Good place to hangout but reach early on Friday as the places doesn't have much sitting area.
White Rabbit Ale is good, must try!!
Plastic glassware is not impressive but that's not the venues fault. It's Sydney being sub standard on an international stage for hospitality.
Service from the staff is top notch.
Great inner city pub
Good food and happy hour specials!
Not a great selection of beers to be honest. It used to be so much better. Great location however.
Nice cozy place with excellent happy hour on weekdays with nice beer and yummy Chicken wings!!
Nice place, good beer. Happy hour is good. Bit out of the sunlight.
This little pub had amazing staff who were so efficient and friendly despite being obviously understaffed for the unexpected influx of customers that day. Can not fault the service!
I love it here.Great happy hour and delicious wings .Best place to be on a Friday night.
Great happy hour. Can get pretty crowded but it's pretty civilised. Good spread of (mass market) beers
Good pub in the main street. Can be very busy during lunch time or after works with plenty of office workers around.
But pricy and very busy. I went for the food and it was nice. They stuffed up our booking but made up for it with free wings and apologies. Can't argue with that.
It was the first time I was in your bar, but I will come back soon because I enjoyed your foods and the really nice waitress of italian origins!
Good place for after work drinks. Happy hour was great with all draft beers for a low price.
Unbeatable happy hour offering - tap beers $7 pints from 4-7pm.
Good location, good layout, drinks were expensive but the bartender knew his stuff. Didn't try the food but it looked good
Excellent service and awesome staff. Great food and cold beer
Delicious pie, good vibe, reasonable selection of beers. Food a bit on the expensive side, I guess that's the "gastropub" experience.
Stopped in here for a quick bite, good food, good beer, good service. What you can you ask. The atmosphere is nice, although the music was a bit loud for me.
Always a great place to grab a drink after work. It's connected to the ivy as well if you want a more quiet spot.
Great place after office drinks
Excellent food and drink! Excellent customer service! Excellent chefs! :-D
Great atmosphere, nice vibe and really friendly staff.
Good atmosphere, friendly service. Recommend stopping in for a couple of drinks.
Not bad, a pretty decent happy hour and $1 chicken wings. 👍
Great food, well priced. Drinks very reasonably priced. Would return!
Awesome pub - yummiest chicken wings and beers!
Pub is ok, a bit clinical if you are expecting an English style pub based on its name. Happy hour
Great little pub tucked in behind Wynyard station near the Ivy. Happy hour has cheap drinks and $1 chicken wings!!!
Superb location. Wide choice of drinks n bar food
Tasty burgers. Unfortunate we could not use our dine vouchers
Amazing ambience. Little noisy but that's what you want sometimes
Best place in the city for a relaxing game of pool on a weekend. Great beer and awesome wings!!
Good place for after work drinks. Food was pretty standard and not much space inside
Great food, specially the burgers. Make sure you arrive early because it does get busy.
Nice atmosphere, drinks are good
Great location and easy going. Great for an afterwork drinks.
They serve Guinness properly! Also wing tastes really good.
Really nice mix of modern and olde world pub in the CBD. Awesome $7 pints after work Friday always a winner 😊
Very quite bar, good for a quite catch up drink. Low lights. Good choice of cocktails.
Good chicken wings Happy hour deal and nice pub grub the rest of the time, enjoyed the calamari
Great atmosphere, mostly after office, good selection of beers and burgers, including vegetarian options, staff is very friendly
Food was amazing!!! Best pie I have ever eaten and the chicken burger is pretty tasty as well.
Stock standard pub nothing stands out but isn't bad in anyway either. You can't go wrong having a feed and drink here.
Decent place for a beer and Wedges. They have a pool table and slots downstairs. Seating could be comfier.
Absolutes best bar in Sydney! Free Pool table is a gem
great happy hour, and $1 wings
A great place for happy hour drinks, but limited seating available so arrive early.
Nice little bar with some great food. And cool pool table area down the stairs that is free!
Very friendly service......It's a great place to watch NFL games........Good beer... Cheers Mate..... .
The new way of ordering is weird at first. Id recommend getting some guidance or having requirements on how to get it setup.
Nice pub environment, decent food & drinks, free pool table near Wynyard station, convenient
$6 pints from 5pm to 7pm everyday makes it the perfect happy hour place for me.
It was nice, friendly staff and great atmosphere by food took a long time!
High quality establishment. Cheap drinks in happy hour, friendly bar staff
Lovely place, cozy pub. Good prices, food and drinks!
Great food friendly staff good atmosphere - tv screens are a bit too small though
Really nice laid back vibe. Staff were friendly. Great place to do pre's before Ivy
Great happy hour on drinks and food - Lovely vibe
Love bbq chicken wings during happy hour weekday from 5 - 7 PM.
Nice pub, not too crowded. Drinks are on the steeper side
Good pub. Good prices. Asked for a gin tonic, nothing from another world.
It was a nice place to hang out.good food.
Emvironment was awesome.
Nice pub but not much standing room. Felt like I was always in the way.
Good food and drink. Affordable as well. Pool table downstairs!

Good pub atmosphere to grab some beers and sit down.
Great bar for a beer or 2, there is a pool table downstairs
You can get a good feed, or have a quiet drink. Staff are friendly and attentive.
Good atmosphere and good wings/happy hour beer
Decent place to stop and get a drink/pub food.
Not a bad place to grab a bite to eat and a quick drink whilst in the city.
All I can say is half price drinks 5-7 for the whole of June. What more could you want.
Good food and nice pub but hard to get a table
I mean, it's a nice fancy pub in the middle of Sydney. Nothing to write home about.
Cheap wings and they have a pool table
Unfortunately with the construction going on on George St, this place can get very noisy. Food is pretty good, nothing great.
Quality venue. Tasty food. Above average for a corporate pub.
Wasn't there long but had happy hour 4-7pm crowded and noisy , nice pub
$5 pints for happy hour, usually super busy with an after work crowd
Great service, tasty nibbles and the angry man pale ale is very good.
Great atmosphere Friday nights. Pool table downstairs at the back.
Happy Hour is the best time to vusit.
Friendly staff amazing pies! 😍
Casual place for a beer. Gets noisy. Good pool table downstairs
A great place to gather when you want a drink before seeing something at Angel Place.
Reasonable food and the price matches up to what's in the city. Nothing special to note from my perspective.
Small cosy venue.
Grest steak for lunch.
Friendly staff.
Nice staff, good crowd, cheap pints 5-7 on weekdays
Nice pub with happy hour until 7pm
A nice rustic feel. Decent ambience, standard pricing and half decent food.
Just enjoyed the food and beer. Well decked out pub.

But the employees were friendly and good!

(Translated) Bar just a short walk from Wynyard Station. Facing the streetcar street. The store is quite large in the city center and there are many table seats in addition to counter seats, so I think that you can sit in a group. There is also a pool table and ATM. There are also several sports TV, so you can drink while watching sports. The restaurant is relatively quiet and open until midnight, so it's a good place to drink slowly at the second or third party. You can use AMEX for credit cards.
