Went to this place for the first time last night. They managed to get us in even though we didn’t have a reservation and we are so thankful they could get us in. It was absolutely incredible. The vibes were amazing, the live music was fantastic and the cocktails were delicious. I’d love to shout out Jodie and Dan for being so spectacular all night. They were so kind and attentive and they definitely contributed to me wanting to come back here again and again. Thank you for a wonderful experience!!!

Loved it. A nice speakeasy bar with nice staff. Highly recommend it if you wanna go out for a chat and drink with friends. They have a band that plays a subtle jazz which is great. Because you have a nice music in the background and can listen to your friends as well.

What a wonderful place. Brought my mother for a night out from overseas and she loved it. A menu in it’s simplicity that shines. Brilliant wine menu, great beer menu and superb cocktails. The new orleans inspired bar is more of a comfortable bar lounge, serving amazing cocktails. The bar staff are quite charismatic ensuring the patrons best beverage experience. They do sell hot food to dine in. The music is alternative with a younger relaxed crowd. Very snazzy bar.

For our first visit here( celebrating my niece's 21st) , we loved it. Lovely, tucked away place . Used comments from others to easily find its location. Hidden in the basement under the Subway sign. Abbie welcomed us , and made our experience special. The cocktails here , are a bit pricey ( guessing its the same anywhere in the city) , but were fantastic. Loved the look of this place. Waiting to go back here on an evening when they have a live band. We walked in really early on a friday evening ( 4.45pm) , but it filled up really fast. So good to probably make a booking if you don't want to wait.

We've come from Melbourne to Sydney and im a big cocktail person, love discovering new and interesting bars. We walked down the steps and were greeted with smooth jazz and friendly service, as much as they were really busy (never a bad thing) and took a while to serve us. The drinks were absolutely stunning. I ordered a mint juliep and can say with confidence that it was one of the best drinks I've had period. Great atmosphere and great drinks coupled with great service. Check this place out when you get a chance!

Nice looking place with good drinks but rather understaffed and expensive food. The live music is cool, but as with any place that does it, really really loud. As such it's not so great a place if you want to actually talk to people. Fortunately the breaks between live sets are a bit quieter unlike some other places that crank their speakers up.

Unexpected in a good way! Down a set of stairs on King Street next to a Subway down to the 1920's. Decor and atmosphere is great. Arrived at about 9pm and it was quiet but quickly got busy. I'm not a cocktail drinker but the whisky cocktails caught my eye and at $20 not cheap but well worth it. Only reason it isn't a 5 stars is the jazz music was over speakers rather than live. Unsure if they do live jazz music but if they did it would be a venue hard to beat!

Simply love it! Very easy to miss and hard to spot but once you find it, you enter a world of live jazz music (New Orlean style), tasty finger food (the fish was super yummy) and fab cocktails (they make a mean old fashioned) and contemporary comfortable decor. There is a certain warmth about this place that has to be experienced. :)

Been to this place numerous times, and it is always good for a cocktail. Always excellent jazz music, whiskey and nibbles. Tonight I went there during covid restrictions and only two guys were working, but managed to knock it out of the park with excellent service. Scott, in particular is an outstanding host. The Swinging Cat provides an all around exceptional experience, including a lively and vibrant setting which at the same time makes you feel at home, and in the heart of vibrant New Orleans. The team there are absolutely lovely and a lot of fun, and having table service for food AND drinks gives you plenty of opportunity to have a laugh with them. The warmth and welcoming nature of the staff shines through and combined with the atmosphere, we had an incredibly fun and comfortable night. Can’t wait to go back for some live Jazz!

A great little hidden gem. We hosted a staff farewell party here and it had a swanky, relaxed vibe. In the lead up, the staff were very accommodating in our requests to reserve an area and the service on the night was wonderful (including table service and drink recommendations). I love this place so much. $10 spirits, amazing cocktails, and you don’t even have to get up and go to the bar. Just give them your card and they’ll come to your table for your orders. Bar staff are so friendly. The interior is beautiful and the vibe is perfect.

Cocktails were nice, but there was only one waiter, and we spent almost 40 minutes waiting for a cheese plate to get the wrong one, while my husband had to spend good 20 mins at a bar to order drinks. All this time I was feeling that something has gone wrong with their staff. A separate mention to the interior and painting in the hallway leading to the bathroom- they are really cool!

This is a good place if you're in the city and would like to grab a quick drink. I go here on week nights, after a long day in the office. One of the things I noticed is that it can be very hot in there. I literally need to take off my jacket and tie. I was once running late to meeting a friend there and had to run, the temperature in the bar did not help. Very friendly staff though and a fantastic collection of beverages.

Hiding beneath a subway, this is almost a cliche. But don't let that deceive you! The cocktails delight the senses and the friendly staff are willing to show off to even the most challenging of tastes. We enjoyed the cool vibe of this small bar...after we finally found the entrance. Like work all small bars in Sydney, it's a little difficult to find. But once you spot the sign next to the Subway entrance, you walk into a dimly lit, New Orleans style bar. Good variety on the menu and table service is a nice touch. I have been here quite a few times before with a friend or two but less than a month ago organised a gathering for about 10-15 ladies ! It was their first time and everyone couldn't stop saying what a gem of place it is. The service , the drinks, the food and the bartenders (esp. Leo:) - excellent! I absolutely love the ambience, vibe and the music, though yes on the and esp on music front, on weekdays there is more of Smooth Jazz which is just perfect to windo down after a hectic work day. Also, Hayley who was the one who helped with booking and arrangements - though unfortunately couldnt get to meet her on the day - was an absolute delight - following up after the event to make sure it was ok and for feedback. Excellent service, much appreciate the care shown! Thanks again for taking care of us. Will definitely be back! (In fact going tonight :)

The music can be a touch loud to be able to talk to the person next to you but I do like the place - I understand it's not normally as busy as it was when I was there due to an event so I'd love to come back :) Not a huge selection of food options though, more nibbles to go with the nicer drinks. I did like the sazerac, that was quite a nice alternative to an old fashioned.

The cocktails at Swinging Cat, a New Orleans themed bar, are very good and I was pleasantly surprised to see a waitress come to our small table to take the drinks order. Very good service indeed. The drinks list is extensive for cocktails. I enjoyed a Hurricane which I had never had before and loved it. Highly recommend that one to try! The wines were also good. I was there with one other person and it was easy enough to talk and hear each other, despite the live music. I also loved the live music there - smooth jazz, just gorgeous. The interior is also inviting and comfortable. The only drawback really is that the drinks are a bit on the pricy side. Cheapest glass of wine is $10, cocktails are around the $20 mark. The location is also a plus, it's in the heart of the CBD and interestingly enough, there is a small group of American themed/styled watering holes and even an retro styled American diner within a few metres (the others are at 152 Clarence). It's definitely worth a visit.
