Had lunch here. Fish of the day was nice, with delicious mushrooms. The bread was free, tasty with potatoes pieces inside. Lots of wine choices as well. For lunch, not too busy. For dinner, better to book your seats online in advance. Nice service. Staff is very friendly.

George’s is an Adelaide institution and rightly so. It has survived Covid, just. And if you haven’t been recently, you should. We had lunch and the lovely Alex, ex Chianti, looked after us very well. She recommended a beautiful Chablis and was very patient with us, taking ages to ultimately order not very much food! Too much chat and wine!

The food and service here are excellent. The only unfortunate problem is that the atmosphere is ruined by an up-tight maitre-d. We had the same experience some years back... We'd kind of hoped things would have changed. We were in the first sitting, and the place was wonderful and relaxed, everyone doing a good job ... Until this guy shows up. Whenever my husband and I have a celebration, Georges on Waymouth has always been an option. So, again we had the pleasure of celebrating our 37th Valentines day dining on beautifully executed dishes. Although our recent Covid outbreak has imposed further restrictons on George to maintain high quality dining, executed by high quality staff, he has not disappointed. We were so looking forward to dining here again after such a long period of in and out lockdowns. From the starter to the dessert, the quality and tastes of everything was once again outstanding! Menu is extensive and seasonal as well as fine dining. Service was professional and knowledgeable, particularly informing about types of wines and my Classic Martini was amazing! Ambience remains a classic and continues to be very welcoming and charming........Thankyou George and Team for leaving us with a desire to continue to come back again and again!!!

What an amazing dining experience. My wife chose this restaurant to celebrate our 32nd wedding anniversary. We had never eaten here before and it didn’t disappoint. We decided on the 5 course degustation with matching wines and are glad we did. The French sommelier whilst young, knew his craft and perfectly paired our wines with each course. The food was exceptional and the gnocchi was the best we had ever eaten. If you are visiting Adelaide you must do yourself a favour and eat here. You won’t be disappointed. We will be back.

My family and I ate here the other week. There were about 10 of us altogether. Upper area was closed, but bottom level was full of patrons. Service: amazing, the staff assigned to our table was attentive, approachable and friendly. The owner (George, I'm assuming) oversees the floor and he was also friendly and attentive. You can tell customer experience is very important to him. Also as we were leaving, staff held the door open for us. Nice ! Food: Okay, I'm not into cured salmon, raw fish or anything like that.. but the salmon pictured was so delicious I'm totally onboard with it. Lamb wrapped in prosciutto was amazing. I'm still not over the salmon.

Had dinner here for an anniversary, the service was incredible and the food was amazing. We went with the 'let our chefs feed your sense' which was 89pp and more than enough food. They even altered it to suit my pescetarian dietry requirement. I highly recommend this place.

On 5th October 2019, we hosted a really special group dinner at Georges in the private dining room. George himself customised a degustation menu for us with matching Greek wines. The whole night was incredible. We utilised the AV in the room for a presentation. And the service was the perfect balance - attentive but non intrusive. The food was delicious and beautifully presented. And it was incredible how the chef customised the degustation for each persons individual dietary requirements. The individual menu for that persons dietary was even printed for them and set at their place setting, so everyone know what they were being served. Thank you again to George and his amazing team. All the staff go beyond an above to make sure you love your dining experience. The food is sensational! I was even unwell and had to cut the night short. So, the accommodating staff were so lovely and put our meals in lovely take away containers for us to take home. Service: absolutely fabulous, we stepped into the restaurant and were greeted by friendly staffs. There’s a lady called Julia, she is absolutely amazing and gave us the best customer service we have ever experienced. Food: extraordinary! Since we prefer sweet cocktails and it was not on the menu, the owner made a special fruit cocktail for us and it was absolutely refreshing and delicious. We had three people and we almost ordered all the food from the three-course menu. They are all delicious and beautifully presented. Highlights: the house-made bread, signature lamb main course and chocolate mouse. I have never ever tasted a lamb with such strong and sophisticated flavour. And the chocolate chocolate mousse is the smoothest I have ever tried. Environment: the setting in restaurant is gorgeous. Bathroom is clean, love the lighting and table setups. Definitely recommend going!

The lamb was superb and there is an interesting selection of wine by the glass. Although the staff forgot about us for a while the complementary truffles at the end more than compensated - well done! I had read critics, I was positive going in. I was not disappointed at all, quite the contrary! From the personal greetings of George himself, he made sure I was attended by Charlotte, who speaks French as I do. Right there, it’s a bonus. She was very thorough in her explications of the menu and made sure pairing with wine would fit the signature dish lamb that I took. The wait was quite reasonable, the ambiance just perfect. The chosen wine (called 2%) was absolutely fabulous and paired wonderfully with the lamb, done in a way never seen before. To say that it was delicious would be a serious understatement. Had I been alone, I would have for sure lick the whole plate. OMG was it ever good. And please do not forget the side of potatoes as you have never eaten such extremely good ones like these. Food was perfect. Ambiance was perfect. Wine was perfect. Service was perfect. And the prices, usually so extreme here in Adelaide, were quite reasonable and worth absolute every dollar. And as a bonus just as I was to leave so happy, they served me complimentary truffle and macaron. Wow.

The food quality is going up, and up, the last three or four times there has not been a dish that did not compare with the quality of food we had at The French Laundry or The Fat Duck (and thank god no Heston gimmicks or $1000+ Per head food bill). Dishes are hit and miss. This goes for the food as well as the staff. If you get a good waiter/waitress you will likely have a good experience. In our case the waiter was uncomfortably lurking over our table as we were eating. He would interrupt loudly and abruptly as if working at an RSL buffet, almost unable to read social queues. Some of our dishes came out completely wrong. Was the food good? They offer a very safe, classic menu, steaks, pastas & the like. Most was good but some wasn't. It's the same as any other 'up market' restaurant. The tiresome rambling of unmemorable specials where each item seems to be coated with a vinaigrette. Throughout the night the bar became the dumping ground for dirty plates and glasses, right next to the fresh out going items. Tables are spaced apart nicely so there is a good amount of privacy and there was enough happening so it wasn't awkwardly quiet. Good for large groups or couples.

The food was great and the recommend local Australian wines were winners too. Excellent food and wine choices and helpful staff. But why do they automatically hand wine list to the male at the table? When asked why response was "that's what we do" . It's 2018 and women are quite capable of selecting wine. For an upscale restaurant this is a major blunder and not a good start to a fine dining experience.

Hit and miss. Some really good dishes, price more reasonable than expected. Loved their venison tartare which was glorious but not the prawn stuffed zucchini that was just average - most cafes deliver the same. Was disappointed with the pastas we had - perhaps the meat-based mains wld have been better to try but we were recovering from post Xmas gluttony and went for pasta instead.. o well. Walked away slightly puzzled by the greatness of its reputation for food. That said, the dishes are beautifully presented and its got a nice classic atmosphere, great for business talks, impressing your in laws, that sort of thing. I wouldn't go there for food alone.

Georges is a lovely and beautifully presented restaurant located on Waymouth Street in the middle of the Adelaide CBD. It is opposite the Adelaide Advertiser building. The food is absolutely delicious and a very large and quality selection of wines. It is an upscale and fine dining restaurant so it is a little on the expensive side. However if you have the Adelaide Entertainment Book - you will receive a fantastic discount. The staff here are always very friendly and professional. A great location for a special occasion or to take your clients/customers. Open for both lunch and dinner.

As a man who travels solo for work alot this dinner was "good, but..." At the door, was invited in by one of the waiters, who seated me. Said I was looking for a place to eat that a single diner would not feel out of place. Was seated at a 2 top with most of the dining room checking me out. My welcome was genuine and I was seated immediately, but I didn't feel comfortable as a lone diner. Scallops were succulent and tender, but hidden in a nest of fried something. Four scallops to the order, each on an pearl oyster half shell. A small dollop of some sauce that was indistinguishable in the nest of fried something. Lamb was braised and wrapped in thin layers of tasteless pancetta that only seemed to serve the purpose of holding the braised lamb together. Had a citrus sauce of some sort on top that kind of overwhelmed the lamb. The dish was good, but not the life-changing lamb dish I was hoping for. Nice atmosphere, welcoming, smallish, a good number of 4 top tables and a few 2 tops. A bar with seats but seemed uninviting to sit there - like this isn't that kind of place. Kind of business casual with many sport coats and only one pair of jeans. Didn't see a tie around a single neck. White "butcher block" paper on the tables with fresh butter, and salt & pepper finger bowls, and white cloth napkins placed in your lap at seating. A single slice of French bread was brought shortly after seating. Very engaging wait staff, friendly and all classically dressed for a bit of a formal feeling. Listened to them small talk a number of tables, but they didn't do that for me. Kept my water full and offered me a 2nd glass of wine when entree came. Seemed genuinely interested in my experence there. My waitress gave me an excellent wine pairing, with the George's label red blend with the lamb press. Of note - I did overhear a menu explanation for other tables that was never offered for me. Looks like a nice place for either a business dinner or a date night. But I wouldn't recommend it for the lone traveller looking for a comfortable solo dining experience.

After looking at the menu online and reading some reviews I had high hopes for this place. And although it's lovely inside, the service was a little flakey (my drink was completely forgotten) and the food was only ok, not great, not excellent, not outstanding - yet expensive - which I'm happy to pay if it's worth it, but this time I didn't think it was. It was such a shame as we took our international guests here and I wished we'd chosen somewhere else. The only redeeming part of the evening was the lovely dessert.
