So warming. So friendly. Had a great laugh with a number of staff, had a lovely lunch on a beautiful day, and so grateful we could sit outside with our dog. We ordered everything the waitress recommended and I am so glad we did. It was perfect! Pork Belly in a beautiful sticky glaze and the Pork Jaegerschnitzel. Plenty of beer choices - plenty of drink choices. Highly highly recommend. Such a large facility too, many seats to choose from. It's all completely beautiful inside and out.

Very nice location in Hahndorf and good atmosphere. The staff were very friendly, professional and nice. The service was quick and pleasant. They serve fantastic German beer which is so exciting. The menu is good and enough items to choose from. The sausage platter was very nice and tasty however the chicken schnitzel was not very good although it was fresh but the spices were not quite there for the dish. The cauliflower bites were average and the chips were ok. Nice place to go if you like German food and beer. Maybe more German items or decor in the saloon can make the place more authentic rather than Ozzie style pub.

Had a yummy beef schnitzel and the fries were phenomenal too. The wegdes were not so grand, not as seasoned and the sour cream served in the same bowl as the chili sauce, could be better. Hubby got the 300g porterhouse and he was very happy! Eating outdoors was excellent and again our wonderful friends made being here in Hahndorf a ab fab experience!

A pub with some great food to suit many tastes, but not all. If you like your meat and meat heavy metals, you'll love the German Arms Hotel. The choice of dishes is good, and the service is always friendly. Not a place to bring your vego friend though. With the exception of a couple of delicious entrees, there's not much to choose from. And the meals come with only minimal veg, so you'll be forced to pay extra for additional sides. With this coming on top of very large serving sizes you'll likely be leaving a lot on your plate by the time you're done. If that suits your, you're in for a treat. There's always a special menu to choose from, and plenty of drinks to select including a good range of beers and cocktails.

Shared a 1kg chicken schnitzel had a huge plate with chips and gravy and partner had a huge plate of salad with his half. They cut in half for us and allowed us to share. Meals were huge and gave us a doggy dish to take left over food home. Reasonable prices for meal sizes.

Rustic Wood forming an ambiance of being a Local somewhere in Bavaria. The FOOD!!!! If you have had enough experiences of 2 Asparagus Spears a Fillet of Beef the size of a Vegemite Lid with a careful single line Sophisticatedly Drawn over the Sides, then THIS is The Place for You! If you want the Entire Germanic Experience Beer Wise, live a little and try A Stein! 1 Massive Glass filled with your choice of Beer. You may want to phone and Book a little ahead. They do not insist , nor is there a mandate, here, for D.Vaccine. We swapped our booking from a competitor due to the awesome customer service experienced when we called past for a drink. Don't regret it one bit, service continued to exceed expectations and food was beyond great (unlike the competitor).. dont even bother with the other, walk that little bit further. Can't wait to come back.

Had lunch there today, and I ordered a meal that there was rice (menu doesn’t mention it) and I absolutely dislike rice. :( I told one of the staff, her name is Siobhan, that I don’t like rice and she made it so simple and so easy for me to order something else. Very well handled. I was expecting some rolling eyes or something, but she was great. Thank you! :)

My husband had this non alcoholic beer and snitzel which he enjoyed. I ordered the calamari which I unfortunately didn't enjoy. Altho tender it lacked seasoning. Next time I will try the pulled pork burger. :) Service was good and meals came out quickly.

Absolutely amazing! We came here with two kids aged 3 and 4. We were greeted with a friendly smile. Seated and given menus in a timely manner. The kids food came out super fast - The kind service staff asked if our kids would like colouring books and provided them to us for after their dinner (dinner arrived at lightning fast speed). We were very early (5:30pm) and there was next to nobody else in the restaurant, however none the less, they provided emphasis on the kids food (which the kids loved - ate it all up). Our food was nothing short of perfection - The staff were quick to check everything was ok (Which I truly appreciate these days - It goes to show they care and want to fix anything that is not up to standard). In the end, I felt bad not eating it all, however the food portions are great value for money and I simply didn’t want to ruin the amazing meal by over eating. I ended the night by knocking the last of my beer over my son and again, nothing was too much drama for the professional wait staff - They came to the rescue quickly without having to ask for assistance. There was simply nothing more I could ask for from this establishment - If I could rate it higher I would - Which is why I went out of my way to leave a tip and importantly a glowing review. I’m sad I won’t be back for a long time as I am holidaying at Port Willunga. I would recommend anyone to come here! If not for Hahndorf town it’s self? I recommend coming to Hahndorf for this restaurant alone. Owners should be extremely happy with the great team they have here. We’ll done. And thanks. :) Very happy customers!

Haven't been here for years, but was pleasantly surprised. On recommendation from the very helpful lady at the front door, had the pork belly, it was amazing, worth stopping in.

A tried and true icon in the historic town of Hahndorf. Food service and decor all above average. Total table service is a plus and allows one to relax from the start. Large and varied menu with an additional specials sheet! Parking was easy mid week but becomes a problem weekends and holidays!

Me and the misso went there mid week so it was fairly quiet (I like that in a restaurant lol) First impression of the place was that it was nice and clean, love all the wood everywhere and the overall "rustic" kind of vibe! I had the bangers and mash as I felt like something simple and I thoroughly enjoyed it! The lamb sausages were perfectly cooked, mash was creamy and the caramelised onion gravy was delicious! My girl had a schnitty with mushroom gravy which she said was just the right thickness, juicy and perfectly cooked! The well seasoned, chunky chips were on the side (not underneath the schnitty ❤️) The gravy was a tiny bit too sweet for us but that's the only thing we could pick on! Table service was fantastic, very friendly and prompt. Overall we'd highly recommend the German arms hotel and will 100% be returning regularly! 😊

Went last night. Was really nice experience the food, customer service and wait time was on point. Lost a star when they wouldn't cook my steak rare, not too sure why. I like my steak trying to jump off my plate. Will be back for sure, nothing like the German arms for a good old pub meal. Was dezo so can't comment on the drinks but my brother had alcohol and he said it made him feel dizzy for some reason. He started to sound Australian so I took him home. He woke up and seems normal now, I'm just glad he didn't do something like drive a commie or a Ford and do skids.

Update, also went here for dinner last tuesday, got the eggplant parmy again and the pork jagersnitzel and was SO good. The snitzel was enormous and if you dont like a lot of mushroom gravy, maybe ask for it on the side. Stopped here for lunch today and we were immediately greeted by Millie on the door, she was lots of fun and very charismatic. Food came out really quick and the cocktails and beer selection were good too. We had the pretzel, calamari and eggplant parmy. Eggplant parmy was nice and crunchy, calamari was a bit lacking but was still okay. Thanks we will be back again soon!

Very popular place, a must visit for a meal when in Hahndorf. Book ahead where possible. The menu offers great traditional hearty meals, also has a usual kids meals. Staff are wonderful even though the place is so busy. There is a wait on meals as expected as this place seems to be always full on weekends.

Great location and atmosphere, friendly fast service and incredibly generous portions for a reasonable price. As we waited for our meals to arrive which wasn't very long we watched eagerly as a couple at a table nearby attempted to finish their meals and with what looked like 1/2 a schnitzel each remaining when they left I got worried. Soon after our meals arrived and it was easy to see why the other table were unable to finish their meals THEY'RE HUGE servings to go with the generous beer servings but still I wasn't able to finish my meal. Don't be fooled into thinking it looks small, they're quite large my photos don't do the sizing justice and schnitzel was sitting on top of a bed of amazing potato. Kransky was equally amazing and came in a fresh soft bun. I'm sure no matter what you choose it'll be a big serving and reasonably priced. Also a beautiful view up and down the street from the front balcony.

The food here is well portioned so order with caution. The service here was very good even during a busy afternoon lunch with a large group. Whilst they serve traditional German dishes, they also offer a range of healthy options. It is always worth keeping an eye out for the chef's specials. The range of beers here was very impressive and the also offered some up and coming wines from the local region.

So impressed with the German Arms today! Especially the maitre de who was working so hard to maintain covid rules and also accommodate guests with her usual warm welcome. We have eaten here many times and the food and hospitality is always second to none. That said, local family businesses are struggling so hard right now. Go, follow the rules, eat, drink and as soon as is reasonable leave so they can give your table to another guest. Well done all!

We went there to have German beer, since we liked the schooners, and the fact that they have outdoor seating, but we liked the indoor so much that we decide to stay in. This is a very pleasant spot to stop off for a lunch or dinner. There's a great variety of foods and drinks available. Where it failed somewhat for us, is that the meals were mostly a little bland and tasteless, especially for the price. We ordered five between us, and most lacked flavour.

My partner wanting to make sure things ran smoothly so checked everyone could pay for their meals asked for payment upon order for all our guests. It was declined. We later discovered our guests were ordering to our table, but we did not have a tab??Guests put their names down for what they ate as they ordered instead. Later that night after we left, I got voicemails from the restaurant telling me many people had left without paying for their food? There was a total of $252.00 outstanding they needed me to pay. How could this happen?? I had to message all my guests and ask them to contact the restaurant to pay for what they ate. A complete shambles.Very poorly managed, mass embarrassment and confusion for myself and my group. Probably won't go again for a group occasion.

Went for a drive to Hahndorf over the long weekend and couldn't go past this place. It was very busy and We had to wait about 40 mins for a table which was only my fault for not booking ahead. I couldn't complain as it gave us all an opportunity to taste test the best German brews had to offer. I ordered the beef ribs which were incredible, moist, tasty, succulent and fell off the bone. Unfortunately that's were the good news ended. Other meals on the table including the daily special were far from special. I'd go back again but I'd have to order to ribs again to avoid disappointment. They need to be consistent with there dishes otherwise others will turn to the Hahndorf inn just up the road.

If you want a great hot dog you have to come here. I shared this with my friend as it is huge and also comes with chips and sauerkraut. The hot dog has a wonderfully tasty sausage with bacon, cheese and mustard in a beautifully soft bun. This is accompanied by chips that are cooked and salted to perfection and to make it all work together was the sauerkraut. This place is well worth a visit and the staff are lovely. Of course at the end of the meal you have to go across the road to the butcher and stock up on some of the sausages they sell just in case you can't get back here soon.

I have been here a few times. I find the food fairly good, however the schnitzels are over rated here. They are pre cooked and dumped in the deep fryer. Unfortunately I have found some staff don't write down your order and try to work off memory which can lead to mistakes being made. Further more I believe the dessert menu needs to be revamped, the most decent item on there is the apple strudel. The caramel cheesecake is way too rich and sickly sweet, I found myself unable to finish it when i ordered it. In all I give the German arms a 3.5 for food, a 4.5 for price and a 5 for service.

What a cool place! I visited here to grab some dinner. There wasn’t anywhere else open at the time (Sunday night) and that was lucky for me because the German Arms hotel had great food and exceptional service plus the benefit of being styled just like a German beer hall. Absolutely delicious German fare. The ribs are massive. Come with an extra appetite. The Bavarian mixed grill was cooked perfectly, full of flavor, and their seed mustard is a perfect complement. The cabbage was also great! I’m ready to go back!

Cleanliness needs to be improved. Patrons that had occupied the table before myself had left a mess of which the staff failed to clean up upon their departure 26/07/2018. Male toilet had vomit & liquid covering 85% of the floor, when I advised the bar staff, he said "yes someone said there is water on the floor" Was not impressed with me telling him to clean it or close it off 27/07/2018. Try the Old Hahndorf Old Mill, much better service with friendly staff, it's just down the road. Otherwise the beer was cold clean & crisp.

Friendly staff in a gem of a town! Felt like I was on a little trip in Europe. The red cabbage and german sausage did not disappoint and the schnapps and cider on tap were plentiful and delicious! A variety of light and airy dining areas to choose from. Expect to pay tourist prices though.

Such a little gem in Hahndorf. We were very hungry and went for the uberschnitzel between two people (thank god! as it is massive). The schnitzel was cooked to perfection and the gravy was delicious - it's very big though, we had to place some into a doggy bag to take home. We also opted for the beer paddle so we basically waddled out of the restaurant but we were very happy. The staff were also very lovely and helpful.

Always try and visit here on my visits to Handorf, with a good and vast range of authentic German brews you will find it hard to find something that isn't to your taste. I believe they also do food although I was there for just the Beer! It offers a great place to spend with friends and family, day or night. They meet a good balance of keeping it local and having that Authentic German feel, they have outside seating on the main street which in the summer month is just beautiful to sit there eat and watch the day or evening go by.

Food and service was excellent. I tried the German mixed grill which was some German sausages, a chop, and red cabbage. The German beer tasting was 4 x 200ml glasses. I would recommend booking if you're coming through on the weekend.

$29 for a 1ltr stein of beer was disappointing. It was all I wanted but couldn't justify the price. The mains, although tasty, lacked personality and seemed very formulaic. It was like eating at a fast food chain to be brutally honest. We're from WA and were really excited for some tradional German fare. We bypassed a cranking Cafe with cheaper, non-Germanic meals for an experience that was largely underwhelming. The service was great, hence the three stars.
