Comments of Lucias Pizza & Spaghetti Bar

Great Customer service
Price is average. (for me)
Pasta was ok, Steak was good, I like the hand cut chip.
The restaurant was not busy at a time,
but it took a long time for the food to come out. Not recommended for a quick meal
m. m.
Saw a story about it on TV...don't always believe a "paid" advertisement. Line up at the door, looked busy with customers. Drinks came very promptly, they were consumed well before the meals, disappointing. Had to ask a few times for "an ETA" on breakfast. Others around us lost patience and left taking food with them in a bag. Yeah the salmon bagel was nice, but poached eggs on toast shouldn't take 60 plus minutes. Overrated.
E. T.
Amazing atmosphere, authentic Italian food and great service! Their coffee is one of the best in town and their minestrone is a must try!
J. A.
We’re regulars here on Fridays for lunch. We’re always very happy with the service (thank you Diane - the soldier of the outside tables, she’s amazing) and the food here. My husband has the vegetarian lasagna and I always have the 1/2 steak, home made chips (YUM!!) & salad, with a glass of wine. All the staff are friendly and we always enjoy our lunch. It’s a great place to go with the vibe of the Central Market oozing as you sit and feast on Lucia’s delicious food. Treat yourself, you won’t be disappointed BUT remember to line up or soldier Di won’t get you a table!! 🤣
S.
Busy restaurant in the market. Pasta was a bit over cooked but overall is a nice place to have lunch with friends.
L. V.
I'm not sure why people line up to eat here. The service is lovely (5 stars) but food and flavour is very basic. The spaghetti bolognaise sauce had no seasoning in it and either needed extra parmesan or salt to balance it out. The crumbed garfish and chips were bit oily and basic - not particularly crispy and large fat chips only just cooked. Chips were obviously home cut ones so ooints for effort. Also needed to season these up. Could put more tartare sauce on the plate if thats what it was.
Sorry but would choose somewhere else next time. Forgot to take photo of the garfish 😮😁
G. S.
Friendly service, great atmosphere and food. The lemon and yoghurt cake melted in the mouth and the omelette was perfect. It's a great place to people watch too. Remarkable breakfasts don't come round very often.
D. M.
I’m all for carbonara for breakfast - imagine bacon and eggs but you swap out the toast for delicious pasta - genius!
Friendly service and great breakfast menu. We were a large group and Lucias were super accomodating in terms of bringing the food out to the dining area that’s not immediately infront of the Bar. Great coffee and you can understand why this unassuming hole in the wall is such an institution
B. J.
I always get the spaghetti bolognese and penne pesto for lunch to share with my partner. The service is friendly and quick. Love the location as you can take in the atmosphere of the markets. I remember coming here with my mum when I was really young and it has barely changed.
E. L.
The food at Lucia’s is always excellent. The staff are so friendly and kind, despite working under a lot of pressure in the very busy restaurant that is Lucia’s. Even though there is not a lot of seating, the staff never make you feel like you should move along. An absolutely fantastic place to grab breakfast or lunch in the Adelaide Central Markets.
L. B.
It's true. Sometimes the food is a long wait - but generally only when they are incredibly busy. And then, well what a great place to people watch. There is a reason that Lucia's is famous, know all their regulars by name and have been successfully in business for so long. They make excellent Italian food. Their coffee is my personal benchmark for all other coffee in Adelaide. The Panini's are indeed made 2 doors down from the restaurant, in the Charcuterie. Again, their is another reason why people queue in their lunch hour - the Panini's are incredible. But you need to get in early. Breathe. Be patient. It's worth it.
E. J.
Lucia’s has some of the kindest staff there are, they are always helping out and although very busy and popular still relatively quick in ratio to the number of people that are waiting.
If you require something a little faster would recommend the Lucia’s sandwich shop, they have delicious sandwiches in many different choice, I personally prefer the tuna one, and overall the three Lucia’s shop include many a great things.
A. I.
Authentic Italian spaghetti. They make all vegetarian pasta❤️, tiramisu is delicious and the espresso is perfect! Efficient staff: they do what they do really well and are excellent at crowd management. Definitely going again for a coffee and breakfast next time. Thanks!!
T. Y.
If I would drive 8hrs for the Michelin star ramen, I would fly 1400km from Sydney just for Lucias pasta. It hasn't changed a bit from my teenage memory.
E. Y.
Great place to visit in central market! Service was good and they made Vienna coffee despite not on the menu! Yummy authentic food!
S. D.
The bolognaise penne was very delicious, and the meat sauce was sweet yet savoury. The mince was nice and firm, tasting like tomatoes. The carbonara had lots of bacon, you could see the eggs and it was authentic. Gniochi pesto was yummy, and.had a strong flavour of basil. It was perfectly cooked gniochi, with a generous amount of cream. Steak was well cooked, and the fresh salad was wholesome and chip were yum. The bread was alao nice.
overall, a great place for lunch or dinner if you're looking for authentic pasta.
4/5
S. O.
Was there on a Friday night. Very busy and packed but managed to get a table for 4. The gnocchi was alright but the mussels made it fantastic. Will be back to try the steak and pasta next time!
J. F.
It's always busy for a reason!!
It's the best place to eat in the central markets. I was a bit sceptical of so many grown adults ordering spaghetti bolognese, then I ordered it myself.... wow. It's amazing.
Also Friday is the only day that they serve lasagne ;)
If you can spare the time, wait for a table, enjoy your food with a side of people watching.
W. C.
Located in central market.. eat in or take away..
Go early morning will have planty of seat.. is famouse for the local.. and busy later in the day..
Need to get your table then make your order at the counter.. available for breakfast lunch and dinner..
S.
I have been twice in the past week for lunch. Friendly staff, quick service and fair prices. My garfish lunch was delicious with fresh salad and home made chips. However my second experience was not so pleasing. The spinach ravioli was soft and flavoursome spoilt by an oily tomato sauce which seem to have a burnt taste. Sorry but I was expecting better.
G. G.
Hands down the best sandwiches in Australia. The daily specials are always amazing and everything is made in front of you fresh. My go to place for lunch in Adelaide.
m. l.
Have been here many times, always good. Tonight had the beef ravioli with pesto sauce, and the spinach ricotta ravioli with Neapolitan sauce. Have enjoyed the lasagne in the past, and their breakfasts. Service is good, and the desserts are good too. The coffee is ok, better coffee to be had nearby at the coffee bean shop. Overall well worth having food here!
M. G.
Food is amazing, generous portions, perfectly cooked. We had the Spinach and ricotta ravioli alla Panna and the Gnocchi Carbonara. DELICIOUS!! Totally worth the visit. It's a hidden gem in the market.
M. G.
Amazing. Best Italian in the country by far with fresh home made pasta and sauces. There is also an excellent selection of ready meals to take home and enjoy the perfection later.
R. B.
Love this place! Located in the Adelaide Central Market and recommended by locals. Good Italian food cooked by nonnas!
k. m.
Staff were friendly food was tasty and good size serve great work
R. R.
I've been to places five times as expensive and had half the quality of Lucia's. You should come here at least once in your life, but you won't. You'll come back again. And ag... You get the idea 😁.
T. “. D. D. A.
First time back here from interstate in 15 years. Lovely customer service, brought our kids this time and loved the food
I. A.
Raisin toast and lemongrass/ginger tea (the new long black) for (very) early elevensies at Lucia's.
K. M.
This evening wnjoyed a lovely pot of tea for two along with some coffees. The service was fantastic. Impressive how many teas & coffees the staff can carry at once. We look forward to returning to try some of the meals options at what I understand is an Adelaide institution which has been creating family memories for many many years.
M. W.
I order a Breakfast baget and a coffee. Food was very nice. Staff friendly.
K. P.
Omg!! Best proper italian coffee, the pizza was amazing also.. in fact i might come back for a coffee today.. so good...
G. R.
I go on Fridays for the lasagna special. Great location in the central market. And the short black is one of the best!
A. A. J.
Gustoso!!! Lucias is simply amazing. Nice ambience and great service
M. G.
Have been past here when I did my shopping last year. They always busy with customers having breakfast or early lunch. I probably be back to the central market next year when I'm fully recovered from my sm stroke. It would take me about 12 months to recover properly.
J. A. M.
Excellent service. Couldn't fault.
View amazing
Food ... entre was delicious. Mains, one was the crab special, disappointing... crab was minuscule. My pasta was far to cheesy even for a cheese lover like me.
D. D.
Can’t rave enough about this little gem... loved it so much after breakfast cancelled a high end dinner booking and returned for pizza and wine...
i.
Great spot. But bust at lunch on a Saturday so be prepared to wait for a seat...
C. D.
Croissant was delicious. Good coffee. Efficient service.
l. d.
Great ITALIAN food, I enjoy it anyway. Grandma style, five star tasty.
S. B.
Just popped in for coffee and cake both of which were excellent with generous portions. Portuguese tart with seasonal stewed fruit and the pecan pie you always want but often don't get. Lovely, lively atmosphere.
A. T.
Best food, awesome staff. Can't wait to be there again🍲😋
T. W.
An institution of the Markets. Great coffee and food. Good place to catch up.
L.
Lovely fresh pasta, great service. Excellent coffee
M. A.
Nice spot, consistently good food over many years
J. B.
The staff here are excellent. Even though it must be stressful because there’s such demand for tables, they make it look easy.
The food is also excellent. No bells and whistles, just nice ingredients to make classic Italian done VERY well.
I love it.
N. V.
Best 🍋 tart I've had..
Rest was okay.
Well done.
N. P.
I've always enjoyed coming here & still do, but it's become just that little bit tired, the staff appear tired & any spring in the atmosphere step a little diminished, but still maintains an ambience. Everything is still good, the coffee & food okay, but good & okay results in 3 stars. I love the market atmosphere & ambience & a coffee & or bite at Lucia's is almost a requisite. It may have passed it's heyday, but it's still worth a visit, still enjoyable watching the market world go by & take in that unique market fragrance. I still recommend this establishment, it feels comfortable & definitely part of the furniture. Cheers.
G. M.
Two staff members did not strictly observe personal covid restrictions. One of those didn't wear her mask and kept touching her hair and items on the counter. Food was ok but a little oily.
u. p. v.
Really nice food, felt like back in Europe
S. p.
Always hard to choose between one of the pizzas and the gnocchi. So have to come back again and again to try both. Fine by me, have been coming for years and love the historic charm of the place. Nice to sit outside and enjoy watching the Market action. Delicious coffee as well, the cappuccino is like no other.
A. S.
The quality of the food was poor, there's better Italian restaurants in Adelaide for the same price
F. C.
The staff at the cashier can be “intense” if you’re slow to order. But the pasta here is on point!
W. J.
Great. We booked a table, so we had that and excellent service during a busy lunchtime rush. The food choices, quantities and qualities were excellent. We plan to return on a Friday to try their benchmark Lasagne.
H. W.
Went at peak time Sat morning. Very busy with market shoppers but the owners have seating organised very well. Most impressive. Food and coffee good.
R. H.
Great value for money. Good food at affordable prices.
Keep up the good work guys
C. B.
The food was lovely but they are very old fashioned in how they make a cappuccino. It was bitter and frothy. No coffee flavour in the foam. Not sure if they like it like like that themselves or they just have not updated their skills. Sorry for being so tough but I didn't drink it and wasted my money.
R. L.
Probably one of my favourite restaurants that serves chicken parmigiana served perfectly and the chips they serve on the side are insane. Ever since I have discovered this place I always get the chicken parmigiana and when they are busy they sometimes run out of the chicken. I have had their pasta and it is also fantastic. When the restaurant is busy, you may have to stick around for 15 minutes to get a table but it is worth the wait
E. K.
Simple , fresh and delicious
As always
J. S.
Pricing: 8/10
Food: 6/10
Service: 7/10
Cleanliness: 5/10
A. B.
Really nice place. We loved our pannini, numbers 1 & 6. Thanks guys. 👍
P. H.
A really good omelette selection. The scrambled egg is also nice and creamy. Always very busy on a Saturday morning so tables are at a premium, especially if you have more than 3 in your party.
R. W.
Ver good. Adelaide's first pizza place. Traditional Italian pizza in an eatery inside the bustling cosmopolitan Adelaide Central Market; which is a MUST SEE / shop / eat for any visitor to Adelaide. Wonderful array of fruit, veggies, seafood and meats, and gourmet foods from SA's best.
J. M.
This review is for the fresh rolls they make at lunch times - THE BEST. Always fresh, generous amounts of all ingredients, so delicious. The specials they have each day are always good - the only place I'm happy to pay $13 for a sandwich!!
C. C.
Happy every time I eat here! I have only tried the tasty past pastas, but will definitely explore the other options.
Friendly staff too, even under pressure!
L. N. L.
I went there on Friday evening for their lasagne and it was well worth the wait! It was a very satisfying dish with a lovely flavoursome meat sauce. Their tiramisu boasts a soft and moist sponge, truly delightful.
P. R.
Great Italian food with a retro 70's vibe. Busy on market days and at lunch but worth the wait. Highly recommended.
D. B.
Good for Italian pizza, pasta and breakfast. Great coffee. Always just a tad too busy, but that's what happens when you are good at what you do! Better ventilation is needed for the indoors bit.
T. M.
Soooo yum! Authentic, friendly and will leave you full but wanting more. Its been a family go to for as long as I can remember!
t.
Italian cafe that serves packet sliced bread for breakfast instead of a nice ciabata/sourdough, Coffee was bitter because it's over extracted. Bit of a let down
I. H.
I love this place. Cosy and warm, watching people go by.. staff are very friendly and efficient. Food is plentiful and made with very fresh ingredients. My tum is happy when I eat here.
W. p.
LOVELY food! Of course the market is busy, but Lucias adds that sense of "Coffee Calm" that we all love. The staff are very friendly/kind, and the service is fast.
B. D. P. M.
An Adelaide institution which continually re-earns it's reputation for delicious, homestyle meals with an inventive touch - everything has an additional dimension of flavour which makes it different.
A. L.
Great affordable food ,always busy ,excellent staff, highly recommend

Lucia's charcuterie ...
for lovers of food who appreciate excellent quality small goods and cheeses.
If you are in a hurry.. a gourmet panini to go
If you want to try the best of the best ...a tasting plate never disappoints.
The only downside is once you have their exquisite meats and cheeses everything else pales in comparison.
J. M.
I've been going to Lucias since the 1970's I think that in itself should give you a good idea how good it is. My personal favourite is the spaghetti Avongole and an iced mint chocolate. Well worth a visit.
F.
Best Bread roll sandwiches around..
R. D.
Some of the best pizza and pasta ever,
C. R.
Can't go wrong for a quick lunch time serve of fresh pasta or pizza. Menu is super simple and no frills, the way it should be!
C. N.
An institution, food is always pretty good, although their sandwich offering next to the mini shop is amazing. Can't recommend the coffee here.
M. S.
You cannot find better Italian Cafe food and coffee in Adelaide; amazing staff and speed of service, all set in a bustling market environment. Bellissimo! m
T. S.
I just absolutely love this place. SO TASTY & SO AFFORDABLE! 🙌🏽 I don’t live in Adelaide so when I visit, this place is always on my itinerary.
F. R.
The absolute original and the best. The gold medal standardstandard in traditional Italian food.
T.
The paninis are often great, but my lord some of the staff treat you like you’ve offended their family honour simply with your presence.
s. r.
Authentic Italian in a Busseling market. Really great service and fantastic food.
D. B.
Lucia's is a must visit at the Adelaide market. Best coffee in town and really good sandwiches in the small charcuterie - ask for Tom. He's six five and makes brilliant food in the spot.
M. M.
A staple place to visit in the Adelaide Central Markets, the fact that it is typically difficult to get a seat is a good sign that Lucia's is popular, and for good reason. The food and drinks are tasty and of a healthy portion size.
P. M.
Great way to get back in touch with my Italian memories pre coved days
J. M.
Superb food, with excellent, friendly, well informed service. Beautiful coffee. Sooooo many lovely things to eat
M. G.
The service is the best and the quality of food is excellent. They make you welcolmed into there restaurant with very happy staff that try rwally hard to satisfy.
R. A. P.
We wanted to try their seafood pasta, but they ran out of stock due to New Year. So we went with this mushroom creamy pasta. Spaghetti was al dente, and rich creamy sauce. Yummy! We will come back to try what we wanted.
L. L.
For the best milkshake in town ask for Angela. Her expertise in blended ice cream milk and syrup will keep you coming back for more.
M. S.
Excellent food and prices. It can take a while to get a table on Friday nights and food service may take 45mins: but it's worth it. Simple authentic Italian meals.
L.
Always a winner. Great pasta, salads. Next door at the charcuterie they do delicious paninis as well.
F. B.
It is good, authentic italian food. The price is okay. Sometimes the service is quite slow.
L. J.
Lucia's Paninis are hands down the best I've had anywhere. Definitely worth a trip to find out for yourself.
M. M.
Nino Solari was my childhood cycling hero. When I cycle to Victor Hbr from Adelaide, I always have a "ceremonial" Pizza there
C. K.
This is always a great place for good food, service and every time I have been over the last 30 years or more everything has been outstanding. Thanks and keep it up!
A. H.
Have stopped here for coffee twice so far when at the market. Really good coffee. Other foods look good too.
A. M.
Visiting from Sydney and so glad to have found this little gem. Coffee and food were DELICIOUS! Very authentic Italian.
E. E. D.
Weird place... pesto was quite nice but their ‘pizza is basically a thick, round bread with accidental toppings on top. It was tiny and it was only okay.
A. H.
Always good.
Great meals and service .
So popular that you need to prepare for a wait on Friday nights, but staff are helpful
O. H.
Nice, friendly staff with plenty of seating. Good food and drink located inside the central markets of Adelaides CBD

bit too much balsamic vinegar on the on the chicken salad. Very nice coffee.
L. B.
Fair price, good food but not enough gluten free options and when I went to ask for it the staff girl wasn't helpful at all.
P. R.
