Menu definitely wasn’t what I was used but surprisingly was absolutely fantastic! The family and I stopped in for dinner before a show at Adelaide Oval. We had the rotisserie chicken, lamb and pork with chips and they were fantastic! Good music, good company, nice food! And also a very nice view of the river and Adelaide oval from where we were seated.

We had the feed me menu on a quiet Wednesday night. First course started off amazing with the warm bread and beef chips as well as amazing dips (beetroot was to die for) moving on to the second course still amazed by how good salad can be! Last course was presented with a great selection of salad and meats but very heavy on the salt. Staff were very friendly and attentive. Definitely would recommend it to family and friends only heavy handling of condiments needs improvement. Thank you Ivy for helping us choose gins and beer

Went over to have a meal since it was recommended by the Oval Hotel. With the SA Voucher used, we were informed that we would get $50 off for dining there and that we just let the Malt Shovel Taphouse (MST) know. There was some confusion since the wait staff were not sure but were looking into it and thus left my friend who ordered the food in awkward embarrassment as we had to wait. While they were looking into it, I called Oval and they informed that MLT would charge the hotel and that they would then give the $ 50 AUD discount. I queried why their Oval Staff did not inform the excuse was that they had alot of new hires who were not aware. Poor excuse and blaming new staff, actually the. blame would be in lack of training. Bec, the MLT Manager, handled the incident well and apologised for the inconvenience. We did not think Bec should have to apologise for Oval's arrangement and lack of communication to their guests about how the $50 AUD will be deducted. Why make it complicated for the hotel guest? However, Bec's professionalism and sincerity in trying to troubleshoot as best as she could was more than what we expected. Just wanted to say thanks to Bec for her support and stellar efforts. As for the food, it was more than plenty and loved the truffle parmesan fries.

Used to love this place but last Sunday's experience was less than satisfactory. Waited over an hour for chips and a kid's meal. The stuff repeatedly told us that "they were busy" which I understand, but really over an hour for the chips? Ordered a glass of Prosecco which came flat as a pancake. Definitely would not recommend -- huge disappointment compared to the previous experience.

Malt Shovel Taphouse was convenient as were were attending a show at Adelaide Oval. They were really busy but they were up front with how long the food was going to take (and they ended up being quicker anyway). Staff were really efficient and friendly. The food was ok for the price.

MALT SHOVEL TAPHOUSE ADELAIDE Located below the Dunston Playhouse in the Adelaide Festival Centre precinct is the taphouse. We first tried this place a month ago at night during the fringe festival but all the protein was sold out so we postponed until today. We arrived and was immediately greeted by a friendly waitress who asked if we wanted table service or order at the bar, great to have both options. We opted for order at the bar so we could sit outside and enjoy the beautiful views of the Torrens and Adelaide Oval. We eventually ordered the ROTISSERIE 400g $45 which serves 2. Half Fleurieu free range chicken and half SA Angus scotch fillet. Which also comes with 2 sides, we got roasted cauliflower, roasted chat potatoes and paid for additional side grilled greens. Drink of choice was La Prova Prosecco. Our food came out and unfortunately it did not “WOW” me the slightest. It was loaded with oil and salt. The portion sizes we not what I would expect for the price. The vibe was great with live acoustics in the background and the views are beautiful. Looking forward to my second experience moving forward.

We booked in a couple of months ago for a post show dinner to coincide with our Book of Mormon matinee. Our large group went the super easy $45 feed me option - this was the best for our group you didn't have to think and you could get on with conversation. The starters came out fairly pronto and they served up the best and freshest on the menu throughout the night - the amount of food was beyond anyones imagination! The hero dishes that really stood out was by far the rotisserie pork belly, the mouth watering lamb, the roasted cauliflower and taphouse coleslaw. Not one person in the group left hungry or disappointed in fact they asked if we needed anymore food at the end when we were all sitting there patting our bellies. The table service by Emma was slick and super friendly, she made the night complete! Every single one of us mentioned on the way out we will be back - thanks for such a great evening!

I have eaten here twice. The first time was better. The staff were friendly and the meal really good. The 2nd time it was wet and cold and only available tables were outside and I had to ask twice if they had an outdoor heater available (previous time there were heaters). They brought one out and put it near someone else! I asked again and they found another one. I think if they have tables outside on a cold night providing heating is necessary.

First time here and we will definitely be coming back. We did the feed me option on the menu for $45 per head. There was so much food and it was all so yum. The rotisserie meats were really good, plus the cauliflower side was my favourite. I loved the haloumi shared plate and also the beef brisket 'chips'. My partners favourite dish was the fried mushrooms. We both drank the cider which was yum. The beer paddle did look good though. It was absolutely packed when we came, due to the footy being on, but we could not fault the service or the quality of the food. The wait staff were fantastic!
