We had the 3 course meal and everything was delicious. Sloe gin was bomb and the strawberry dessert was even bomber! Everytime the food came out, a staff would explain each of the food in detail which makes you appreciate it more.

What an amazing experience! From the moment we stepped in, we knew this would be a treat. We chose the 2 course option. Our host was friendly and knew every detail about the dishes. The food was presented to appeal to everyone, the flavours intricate and necessary for the taste. Im very fussy but this was not a problem, they tweaked my meals perfectly. Price point was exceptional - definitely book ahead and just enjoy. Very kid friendly.

A hidden surprise and treasure, off the Main Street at McLaren Flat, literally located in the Vineyard.. High quality and very well presented menu treats. The venue was fabulous, the staff attentive and the small offering a surprise. The dishes were more than enough, well presented and overall enjoyable, however two of our party had the lamb and both of us couldn’t eat it as it was very fatty and we couldn’t really find any meat. Mentioned this to staff who will add the chef, but we didn’t receive any feedback.

Great little dining experience in McLaren Vale. The menu is nice and simple to order from but the dishes are quite special and extremely well presented. Perfect place for a long lunch 😍. . Snacks: Mussel on sourdough crisp: nice flavours with big mussels! Mushroom paté with nori crisp: the mushroom paté was so good! Really tasty 😋. . Rye sourdough bread: love love love this bread! Omg it was hot from the oven, and it was perfectly done 🤤🤤🤤. . Melon, passionfruit, goats curd, smoked almonds: compressed watermelon, parisienned melon, rock melon caviar, goats curd, passionfruit, smoked almond, melon and cucumber foam - this was a really interesting 'summer salad' kind of dish. Really good combination of sweet fruity flavours with the goats curd. Enjoyed it a lot - very refreshing! . Tuna, strawberry, balsamic, mint: cold smoked Port Lincoln tuna, fresh strawberries, strawberry balsamic, buttermilk dressing, nasturtium oil, brik pastry, Minto powder, fresh mint - a very refreshing dish again. The tuna was tasty, and paired well with the strawberries. . Prawns, corn, taco, peaches: seared prawns, roast capsicum taco served on a bed of chipotle beans and sour cream topped with smoked corn, coriander, spiced peaches, spring onion - this dish was really delicious! The prawns were perfected cooked - tender and juicy and full of flavour 🤤🤤🤤. All the other components of the dish were good too. The only small thing I could have wished for was maybe more hard shell taco 😂. . Beef, witlof, mango, nuts: cured lobethal beef with salad of watercress, witlof, green mango, and green papaya, dressed in chermoula and topped with spiced nuts and labneh - the cured beef was very savoury, and balanced well with the tasty and refreshing salad! . Duck, plum, sesame, soy: duck breast, pickled plum, plum gel, sesame cracker, honey soy caramel, accompanied by a salad of confit duck leg, shiso, red sorrel, shaved fennel, anise hyssop and crispy ginger - WOW I loved this dish!! I always love duck, but they did a really great job 👍👍. The breast was very tender and full of flavour - perfect! . Palate cleanser: melon, apple, citrus sorbet, with splash of gin - this was actually really delicious 😍😍. . Chocolate, coffee, bourbon, cherries: spiced chocolate terrine, bourbon ice cream, marinated cherries, oat crumb with coffee glass - super creative dessert! Lovely chocolate terrine paired well with the ice cream 😍😍. Yum! . A cake to finish off the lunch at the end: so full but still had to eat it!!

Just shared a 70th birthday lunch in this amazing place. It's a hidden gem. The surroundings are beautiful. This has been a long time favourite of myself and my partner but our most recent experience was lacking in customer service. Either there is a new manager or the regular manager wasn’t working when we visited. The former manager always made a point to visit every table, make everyone feel welcome and ask if you were celebrating a special occasion. He was so personable and always the cherry on top of a perfect lunch. This time he was no where to be seen and the first waiter who visited our table greeted us with “have you decided what you’ll be having?”. Not even a “hello”. And honestly we felt a bit taken aback because we had just gotten engaged literally 30 minutes before sitting down and were bursting to share our happy news but this young woman made it clear there would be no time for pleasantries. The food was top notch as usual and we still enjoyed our surprise engagement lunch in private, but we both wished our favourite manager had been there. The vibe generally seemed off and quite possibly staff were on edge due to the Covid situation (this was early Jan 2022), but then I would have thought they’d keep their masks properly fitted rather than noses poking out or pulled down to speak. Probably seems like a silly reason to complain but when people go to the Currant Shed quite often it is for a special occasion. A little bit of friendly conversation goes a long way to making someone’s day even more special.

This review is for 2019 pre-covid. We escaped Melbourne AFL grand finals weekend by coming to Adelaide. I tried most of the top 10 restaurants on tripadvisor during my visits to Adelaide and would rate the Currant Shed experience as the most bang for buck. The food was great and space laid back and unpretentious. Would love to visit again.

We had a lovely 6 course lunch over about 3 hours. All dishes were prepared to perfection, using lots of fresh produce from their own garden. The tomato dish with cucumber sorbet was so refreshing. Highlights for us was the tofu curry and the freshly baked bread. The steak and Enoki mushrooms was also amazing. Service was good and relaxed.

Not a false step! Every dish was balanced, and the sequence of dishes worked exceptionally well with various ingredients being highlighted individually in some cases and other dishes displaying the chefs ability to blend highly contrasting flavours into something unique and special. This place is only by reservation, I saw them turn away a couple who walked in, even though there was enough space for another few tables, I guess they want to keep a sense of exclusivity. The atmosphere was nice and the menu was very well thought out with great flavours. The staff however, although friendly, did not know the menu well, every question we asked had her running back to the kitchen to confirm. There was a steak on the menu that cannot be cooked to your preference, as it is only available in medium, and they also ran out of a dessert, so those 2 things slightly ruined the experience for me. Overall, it is a nice place to have lunch when you're in McLaren Vale, and I will give it another shot the next time im in the area.

As always, an out of this world experience. Simply the best of local food served in their amazing surroundings. If you are on the epicurean trail, the Currant Shed is a must visit. Enjoy an amuse bouche between courses. Enjoy wines from the neighbours, enjoy the freshest seafood, lamb, duck, all served with ingredients from the garden or nearby. Home made bread and butter. Even the mulberrys came from a neighbour. Plan on spending a couple of hours here at least. This is not a quick in and out experience. Enjoy lunch. Take a stroll through the gardens. Savour!

We first visited the Currant Shed about a year ago and thought it was one of the best restaurant experiences we had ever had. The setting was perfect; the food was exquisite; and service was simply terrific. So, today (27-4-2018) we returned to the Currant Shed to see whether we had been dreaming. And, no, it was just as wonderful today as it was a year ago. Granted it was a perfect April day and we had a lovely table beside the lawns dotted with superb fairy wrens hopping about. There were 3 of us, and we each ordered different items off the menu. Each dish came out beautifully presented and with components so well matched and uniquely tasty that there were oohs and aahs with every mouthful. Go there and treat every component of every dish mindfully and really enjoy the unique flavours and presentations. Did I mention the happy helpful discreet service we enjoyed there?

Yesterday we had lunch at the Currant Shed. The food and service was exemplary. Our only disappointment was we were seated in a small dining area away from the main restaurant which detracted from the atmosphere. We had brought 2 couples with us and felt a little isolated. Well, what a gem this place is! Not only is the interior gorgeous (hello designer tables, chairs, cutlery and glasses), super friendly staff, but there are excellent options for vegans and vegetarians. At first glance we thought there was one veggie option for entree and one for main ... but the chef could do substitutes - for example, tofu for fish, tempeh for pork. Now *that* is innovative and forward-thinking! Plus there were complimentary bread, snacks, palette cleanser and sweet treat - something that is usually missing in fine dining experiences these days - very much appreciated. Was really looking forward to having lunch here but it was quite disappointing. My partner and I came to do the chefs selection, 6 courses and then got told when we ordered they weren't doing it due to the covid time limits. Totally understandable in regards to covid but we should've been told prior to our booking on the phone. The food also wasn't amazing, there was too much going on in each dish which detracted from the main elements. The setting is super lovely though and the staff were really nice. The tuna dish was also delicious.

They do lunches only and we choose the 3 courses. ...no need for tea now. ...but in addition they gave us complimentary appetisers and warm sour dough rolls with fancy butter and granola ice between courses and macarons after! Great service, fancy and delicious food beautifully presented and explained and God sized serves too. Go and try it! You won't regret it. By the way. ..most of the food is GF or can be made so and they have vegetarian and vegan and can cater to specific needs especially if forewarned.
