Very friendly staff. The scones are extremely delicious. The cream served with the scones is extremely fresh and silky. Great to see they use local jams from the Beerenberg Farm just up the road. Will definitely return for another coffee and scones. On the other hand, the main menu looks awesome as well..... Watch this space

The food is absolutely amazing and it was very delicious. There were a lot of people there and we had to wait for approximately one hour. I don’t go there very often but I am guessing that there might be less people on a regular weekend compared to a public holiday? But yes definitely recommend going!

Okay so the first thing that stood out immediately was the service. The service was on point, staff were very friendly and attentive. The menu had a lot of variety and there wasn't much of wait for the food during lunch time. Surprisingly, as the place was packed! Great food and atmosphere.

Good vibes , liked the Haus wine …but generally the restaurant is a bit overrated. It was a cold ,night they told us only outside tables available although the inside tables were completely free all the night.I went to the bathroom to wash my hands it was dirty and mess in rubbish in the basin.I could buy similar sausage for $2 in IKEA not $22 😬🤨🙃fish was tasteless 😒 I don’t think I like to comeback here.

The Food: pleasant but forgettable. We came for the Schweinshaxe but while the skin was crispy, the meat was dry. The slow braised pork hock was deliciously moist & tender. The Trio of Wurst was flavourful with springy bite, the Vietnamese salad was okay. The Good: friendly waiters, lovely ambience, attractive restaurant, tables spaced far apart. The Bad: when paying the bill, I was asked (by the head waiter or manager, I think) to wait in line at the Orders counter, at the end of a long queue of customers waiting to order. This is unacceptable and spoilt what would have been a very pleasant lunch.

Fantastic. Best place to dine in Hahndorf. The service staff excellent, management excellent, food was filling. Ordered the ham hock, WOW. Crispy top and tons of meat. Succulent and delicious. I actually almost finished it if it wasn’t for the cheesy garlic bread which was just ok. The ambiance was warm, live, comfortable and not to noisy. I will definitely be returning. Keep up the good work.

Yummy food, good environment. You can sit indoors or outdoors. I will definitely drink a beer when I am enjoying the German pork knuckle If I don’t have to drive after the meal. The service is also good. Waiters are very helpful but just some waiters were not so welcoming when we sincerely said thanks they didn't respond anything and then turned and walked away (several times). Pretty cool, isn't it? In addition, the waiting time after ordering was a bit long (almost half an hour). However, these do not affect me to give The Haus a five-star review.

Sadly tonight the service wasn't very good. We waited ages for our drinks, asked for more cutlery as we were one set short, it never came...I had to help myself from one of the other tables. Then they brought our sides and 1 of our meals, out of 4 and the other meals were brought out a good 10 minutes plus later.

It's rare for me to give Haus low stars but today the prawns were cold and dry ,I beleive our entrees weren't brought out when they were ready & we were only half way through them when our main meals arrived 🙄 We had ordered before others that came much later and were still waiting after their meals had been served.

Tonight 11/11/21, my wife & I dined at The Haus. We were very impressed by the quality & service offered to us by the staff. From entry to the end, they attended to us in a professional manner. Our meals consisted of the Pork Schnitzel & the Steak. My steak was cooked to medium & I added a beautiful creamy green peppercorn sauce. The steak was served on a bed of potato mash. This would have to be one of the best cooked steaks I have eaten for a while so Kudo's to the chef. My wife had the Pork Schnitzel & it was served on a bed of Mac & cheese with a beautiful potato salad. We were going to have dessert but we're just to full from our main. I finished off with a lovely coffee latte. Thankyou again to the staff of The Haus for a lovely dining experience.

Definitely worth a visit when in Hahndorf. The food was first class, at a very reasonable price. We had arancini balls for appetizer, crispy skin pork belly entree and salt & pepper squid main, all to share. Meals were a generous quantity. A couple of negatives though. We were asked three times within 10 minutes what we wanted to eat, before we had barely sat down to look at the extensive menu. But then the staff disappeared and didn't take our order for a further 10+ minutes. We then asked for entrees to come out first, followed by main to share, but all eventually came at once. Front of house staff were working hard, but a little short staffed and so made mistakes. Overall, very good, but not perfect.

Dined here for lunch today! The girl at the front was super lovely and ushered us into a great spot under cover where we could bring our little puppy out of the rain. Ordered the Duo of Wursts and a seafood grill platter.. Both were absolutely out of this world! We were super happy with our first experience here. The servers were so fantastic, super smiley and helpful and the whole restaurant was spotless with many areas to sanitize our hands before and after eating. We loved that they had small heaters in the front undercover area too that's a great inclusion. Definitely try to Caramel Espresso Martini!!! Its superb. we will be back!

Love the food and the people. We booked a room to cater for 30 odd people and have some specific table arrangement and timing of serving the food. The order list is only given to them at 9am and required to be served at 11am. Within that two hours, they have done magic. Very well executed. We are given an enclosed room and tables are well arranged and timing of food arriving at each tables is just perfect. Everyone is happy and totally enjoyed their meal.

All four of us arrived at the Haus hungry and looking forward to lunch. I ordered the salad with chicken while my friends ordered pizzas and spring rolls followed by the German apple cheese cake. My salad was tasty, not too spicy and just the right amount. I enjoyed it. My friends also enjoyed their meals. The young lady who served us was very friendly and polite and frequently checked with us to see if we were happy with our meals. It was a weekday so the noise level was at a minimum. Overall a great lunch time and very enjoyable

Had an earlier dinner here Saturday night. Food was great although a little pricey. The pork knuckle was cooked beautifully with the meat falling off the bone. The mash was beautiful and creamy too. My go to restaurant when visiting Hahndorf. It’s recently been renovated and is tastefully decorated with a great cozy german vibe. Coffee and food is delicious and fresh. On my last visit they had a lamb shank on menu and it was too good! Prices are high, its to be expected in Hahndorf. Staff is nice with quick service although it’s not always the case - grumpy staff members on occasion. Overall experience is always good. Make a reservation if going on a weekend or holidays.

Where do I start. Upon entry we were greeted by Baxter who was kind enough to squeeze us in during the busy lunch service. He found us a table in the lovely secret garden out the back of the restaurant. The atmosphere was amazing. Me and my brother ordered the Taste of Bavaria Platter with the crispy skin hock replacement (well worth the extra $5) and two of the traditional German pretzels which were also delicious. The service we received from the moment we were greeted by Baxter all the way through until we stepped foot back out of the restaurant was of the highest quality. My only critique was the small portion of mustard that we received considering the size of the platter. It simply wasn’t enough. Although the young members of staff were more than kind enough to bring us out more mustard upon request. Overall was an excellent experience, we will be coming back to dine at The Haus in the near future.

Had not even finished entree when first the waiter and then the manager asked if mains could be brought out (kitchen wanting to close) Maybe don't take bookings if you can't handle the late seating! Not sure we would hurry back.

My husband and I haven't been to Hahndorf before and here for our honeymoon. We had dinner here tonight and were absolutely blown away! The food & service was amazing, the server Josh was so lovely! My first bite of this juicy, flavorful and delicious chicken schnitzel, Oh my goodness! What a dish, and that mushroom gravy!!!! I was in awe for a few seconds and decided to enjoy the dish thoroughly. The salt and pepper squid was impressive. Light, quite crunchy and tasty. It was also quite on the chewy side however, it was so good that we enjoyed every second of eating that dish. The Asian salad was also good, we kinda wished it had more of a spice flavor or some kick to it. Overall, we are IMPRESSED. Well done the Haus, your chicken schnitzel is now named as the best schnitzel by one of our members. Such a bold statement and all you need to do is to taste it. We will keep this short, imagine a very hectic lunch and the staff still managed to be professional, friendly and lovely. That’s what we experienced. From the welcoming vibe of the front of the house lady to the friendly cashier at the back of the counter. We thoroughly enjoyed the service we experienced from their staff. Well done!

We had our wedding here 4 years ago and the event planner was awesome! Nothing was too much trouble. Everything went off without a hitch. Also had breakfast and then wings later the same day recently. Everything was really well presented and yummy. I didn't think the wings were crispy enough, but that's just my preference. Food is all right, like the atmosphere. The pork skin is too hard in one side but perfect on the other, and the meat is pretty plain. The best part of my plate is probably the mashed potatoes (Note: I'm not German so the sausages as long as not dry is good to me)

Love this place. A must go when you're in hahndorf. The crispy pork hock so tender on the inside and crispy outside, paired with delicious mustard sauce. Breakfast pizza is also cheesey and has generous toppings with bbq sauces. Buffalo wings were also very good. Nice atmosphere as well. Garlic pizza was not bad. The platter was huge with lots of meat and sausages. But I'd still say go for the pork hock only if you have to choose. Ribs are alright, but small.

Came up on the Sunday of a long weekend and it was absolutely packed. Even though it was busy, the staff were wonderful and honest about the potential wait for food. Worth. The. Wait. The Mediterranean lamb pizza was unreal, the duo of wurst was incredible and even though there was a wait due to a mess up in the kitchen on our bruschetta, it was still served and was amazing. Somehow the chefs were able to maintain an insanely high standard while under incredible strain. Huge testament to the team. - bar staff - wait staff and kitchen. Exceptional work.

We visited Hanhdorf at peak season and a shopkeeper recommended The Haus. Food arrived quickly. We ordered the duo of wursts and the burger. Coffee was ok. Beer from the tap was nice and light. Place is family friendly and the restroom facilities were clean. Staff are nice. The Haus has a heavy touristy feel. Edit: Came back again after 9 months and I am giving it 5 stars instead of 4. We were too early for the lunch menu but the breakfast menu was pretty darn good. The breakfast pizza is king...top it up with a breakfast beer!! Great staff and the lady manning the front and talking to passerby was so helpful and friendly. Was impressed they had Chinese menus for their lunch menus.

I had my first ever pizza here in Australia with Haus. It was mind blowing. With beer and mates it was awesome. Staff were courteous and professional. I loved the ambiance and the place. It's situated in Hahndorf, a well known wine tasting and wine produce of the region. The food quality is perfect and the service is quick. We tried the cocktail as well which was brilliant. The Haus is the perfect destination to visit and is popular among the visitors of the Hahndorf. It is busy place but can't be neglected and no one will regret it. The bar has a variety of drinks to choose from and they are the best, worth tasting. There are three different segments of the restaurant. Visitors can sit outside the restaurant with the view of lovely and beautiful street. It has a spectacular view of old stores and architecture. Haus's architecture is similar to those. We love the place and will for sure visit again in near future with family and friends.

Superb - easily the most authentic German food in Hahndorf, possible anywhere I have had outside of Germany/Austria. Beautiful setup, they had dancers and good wine and this was a cold Thursday night in winter. Great staff and well priced. We had the 60 dollar platter for two. I will definitely be back!

The food was delicious, and the place was very nice. There is seating on the side walk, the balcony and inside which is great in the sense of having choices. My steak however wasn’t evenly cooked, I had rare on one side and medium on the other. My bruschetta was perfect though, never thought tomato on bread can taste that good, specially when there is no avocado. Good selection of drinks, and who doesn’t like a beer tower.

We visited Hahndorf on NYE and it seemed so too did the rest of Adelaide! As we hadn’t booked a table, we were fortunate to find a table outside the second time we went past. We ordered the Trio of Wurst for the kids, schnitzel and the salt and pepper squid salad. We have lived in Germany for a number of years and the food was as good as get there. All meals were delicious and the large portions that filled us up for the rest of the day. Hubby said the Hefeweizen was great and I enjoyed a lovely glass of rose from the Adelaide Hills. One tip to avoid you waiting for a waiter/waitress, you need to order and pay for food inside. Definitely recommend The Haus if you are after a delicious German meal in Hahndorf.

There are a wide variety of seating options including outside tables with bench seating at the entry, inside with tables & chairs or lounge style and my favourite - out the back in a private courtyard, sitting under a walnut tree.. Absolutely lovely! Sonia (RP) was friendly and very helpful, assisting me to run a tab, by holding my credit card. This was due to sitting outside. Alexandra (RP) was also friendly and assisted staff (training at the POS) with adding to my order when I asked. We ordered BBQ Pork Ribs, the Haus Burger and an Angus Beef Snitzel with Garlic Prawns. The presentation was great followed by amazing flavours and taste. I was very impressed! I highly recommend you visit and experience the quality this venue offers. A true 'Gem' of South Australia.

The lady selling the homemade icecream (yes she even have durian flavour) across this restaurant recommended The Haus and Hahndoft Inn, both we tried on the same day 😁.. can't never beat the locals recommendation. Excellent!!

Finally had a chance to come here for a meal after wanting to try the haus for quite some time. There are so many nice restaurants in hahndorf for the multitudes of tourists that come here every year and i think the haus would be one of the best. Prices are quite reasonable, on par with what everyone else is charging but serves are very generous and be prepared to loosen off some buttons on your pants after your meal as some of the dishes are real button busters. They use alot of local produce utilising the best the adelaide hills has to offer. They have a good selection of local craft beers on tap as well. The restaurant has a nice cosy feel with the fire place and would be just as nice to come here in the middle of winter as it is on a nice sunny day. Will definitely be back

The place is nice, beautiful space and furniture, flowers etc. BUT the service is so bad. Staff (I assume they're the owning family, I might be wrong) is just careless. We placed and order and asked to clean the table for us from the previous customers' leftovers. We were asked to wait up to 10 min and we were fine with that. Then what happened: our coffees arrived and been put just in the middle of all the crumbs and dirty glasses and plates on the table, while the other staff was cleaning other tables, where nobody was waiting to be seated. On top of that my coffee was caffeinated (I'm so sure about that! I had heart rate raising fast), when I ordered and paid extra for the decaf. The food looks beautiful here, but we didn't have enough patience to order from so careless people and switched to a different restaurant for lunch. I hope next time we come it's gonna be a more pleasant experience.

The rest of my table couldn't help laughing at my plate. The fish & prawns were a little tough but the sauce they were served with was pleasant enough. One of our party's plates wasn't served until nearly 10 minutes after everyone else's so only one of us was able to enjoy a particular hot meal.

I have been to The Haus several times. We often take visitors here when showing them Hahndorf. We have had mostly breakfasts here. The breakfast pizza is usually good, although not consistent depending on how busy they are. The last time we had it, it was soggy and the pizza base wasn't crisp. Even our guest admitted it was average. Good to know: Ambiance is nice, especially in winter with the fireplace. You can book online, it's usually busy so I'd recommend that. Pricing here is around $15-25 for breakfast each, which I don't find great value considering the meals are pretty standard. (You can get the same at your local cafe for less) The build your own brekky is great for fussy eaters. Service is adequate, but depends on how busy they are. Order to serve time is ok. Not slow but not very fast either. Again, depends on busy they are. Food temperature is decent, but depends on how busy they are. Serving size is average. Not huge, but enough to fill you up. Parking is difficult in Hahndorf as usual. Didn't check dietery options nor accessibility (will update next time) 3/5 stars for The Haus as given the above, I feel their offering and value is satisfactory, however not outstanding. All in all, I think The Haus could position themselves to be that 5 star destination restaurant in Hahndorf, if they simply tried harder, made itself... More exceptional. I dunno, better menu, service, value, not sure what. I guess I had expected more, but it seemed they simply rely on the default traffic that streams through this area, rather than trying to do anything special (which they have potential to do). I will still go here time to time, but don't feel loyal, and am looking out new, exciting restaurants popping up in Hanhdorf to take my guests to. Perhaps I will have to come back and try a lunch or dinner main.

Last minute late lunch/early dinner. A popular place and we were seated near the fireplace. We ordered a pizza and Husband had the chicken parmi. Young son (who has autism) had chips. Our meals were great and tasty however the chips for our son were a 'side size' and quite small. Considering they were $7.90 he would have needed 3 to be fulled. Certainly would visit again but would have to time it without our son or prepare he will need food after. (Fyi his autism gives him huge sensory and food restrictions so he struggles with other food when out - first time we have encountered this issue of such small protions of chips).

I think this place is really wonderful, and I love the vibe of it. The food whenever I have been is really good, and for what you get, the prices are reasonable. It's usually packed out, ans sometimes you will need to wait for a table if you haven't booked. It's not a major issue for me (and maybe it's because it's so busy) but sometimes you need to wait a while for your order to be taken, and the staff always seem in a hurry to get to the next table. If they can nail the service, it would be a 5 star for me.

Food was great, however table service a lot to be desired. When we arrived, we had been seated for 10 minutes when we were reminded that it was a 1.5 hour sitting, which we were aware of. Food and drinks were ordered and arrived, which were delicious and very satisfying. With 15 minutes to go of our booked sitting time, we were again reminded of the time limit. We then had the waitress, plus possibly the floor manager, hovering around our table for the last 10 minutes looking at their watches and us. This made the end of our lunch with our friends extremely uncomfortable. When we left, at the correct slotted time frame, said waitress pushed past us to clear table, without even thanking us for coming.

The menu is so expansive, we struggled to choose as there were so many German dishes that we wanted to try. We opted for the Duo of Wursts and really enjoyed both of the sausages. They were so juicy! Our favourite was the cheese kransky. The creamy mashed potato was also the best I've had. We also ordered the Hawaiian pizza which was too cheesy for my liking but we still enjoyed it. One of our favourite picks in Hahndorf however, it does get VERY busy. This means you have to book and you might find people bumping into your table or your back as they brush past. The food is usually pretty quick to come out. It's a little on the expensive side, but still worth it. Maybe pick a quieter night though if you're after a relaxing evening.

The restaurant is superb! Food and customer service was on point. We also stayed at the Spa Suites at the Manna...it was lovely. However the walls are paper thin so you can hear people in the spa or the verendah. Furthermore the 'spa parking only' area despite being clearly labelled can sometimes be taken up by people who are just visiting Hahndorf and not necessarily staying at the Manna. The tow away warning, it seems, is not applied. The rooms are serviced daily but ours was probably done in a rush as, cleaning disposable gloves, were left on the TV cabinet.

I have been here a few times before and it’s always been good, we came for dinner the other night, the place felt tired. Took forever to get our drinks, Which was strange considering there were heaps of staff on and it wasn’t that busy. and when they did arrive the wine had sediment at the bottom of the glass, not good. They had water glasses on the table but didn’t offer any, then there was this sad glass with 3 sugar sachets in it. The pork hock lacked the crispy skin it always had in the past. The steak lacked flavour. The chips tasted better! I understand it’s been tough lately but at the end of the day if you can have that many people on, the toilets can been cleaned properly, the place can be looked after pay attention to detail.

My partner & I went to the Haus for our 2 year anniversary dinner, it was an awesome night in every way. There was a wedding reception happening in half the venue, so it was noisy, but it honestly just added to the joyous atmosphere of the place. They had a really great musician playing covers in the background & he was on point, he played & sang beautifully and really brought up the atmosphere of the place, making the whole night a lot more fun. My partner had the fish & chips , and I had the gourmet veg pizza & a side of greens and everything was so damn delicious! Dessert was the German apple cheesecake, I highly recommend it, it was insanely, disgustingly good. The staff were really friendly & helpful, & we barely had to wait for our food. It was a bit pricey but so so worth the money. No complaints, all compliments, easy 5 stars, will definitely be back.

Our family especially drives through Hahndorf on our SA trips from Victoria to feast at the Haus. My wife's favourite dish is the Braised Pork Knuckle. Went with a group of 8 for dinner and we were given the private room at the back. While quiet, it was a bit too small so the waiters had to pass food along so we could give to people sitting on the back end,and the table was just 2 portable trestle tables with a table cloth over the top. Service was ok, friendly but the waiter made a couple small mistakes with our orders. Food was good, not great. Somehow with desserts it took 45 minutes for our sticky date puddings so everyone else had finished their desserts before ours came out. Management was very understanding, helpful and apologetic. Perhaps we were just unlucky. Will try again but it was not a great experience. I wouldn't recommend that room at the back until they get a proper table and even then would be hesitant. I'd suggest they update their ordering system so it is easier for the waiters (not having to use little notepads) and kitchen staff.

Might be wise to time your Haus meal at the end of your Hahndorf trip, because the meals are very filling and will have you wanting a nap afterwards ;) Recommend sitting outdoors if possible; inside can get very noisy during busy times and it's difficult to hold a conversation. Huge selection of German beers, but I can't comment on those as I'm not a beer drinker. There are non alcoholic beer options for the designated driver too.
