Comments of The Original Pancake Kitchen
N. G. B.
Went in for brunch. The hash browns, sausages and waffles 🧇 are nice. The surrounding is a bit noisy as there were a large group of peeps have family time. This is everyone’s freedom but still noisy. The tableware 🍴tray on the tables are empty. In addition, I am not really a big fan of the ice cream in the ice coffee, too rich to go with the coffee. Would give a 3/5. But just learn that they open 24 hours everyday. I would give them an extra star.
S. T.
This is the best 24 x 7 place to be in Adelaide when you're hungry and want some comfort food.
The German feast is amazing, the coffee is good and when you're feeling that sweet tooth, try the Russian Blintz with ice cream.
This was my go to place since the uni days and has never disappointed me.
However, it is next to Hindley Street and gets a bit shady on weekend nights sometimes.

Adelaide's original 24hr Pancake Kitchen. It's been years since I last visited. Seems to have had a little revamp. Nice cosy little tables throughout. I had the strawberry nutella crepes. Generous serve.
T. S.
Had an okay experience. Ordered the farmers feast for breakfast and a coffee. The order total came to a little more than I was expecting, but I put this down to the weekend surcharge.
Service was fine and the portion size was good for the price that you pay.
C. T.
Had a really good experience the other day.
I was going to go for the ribs but because we had limited time I got the chicken ceased salad… and BOY WAS I SURPRISED. It was delicious, it was a generous serving and it was perfectly balanced as all things should be.
My wife had an IT which I sampled and that was also great.
C. G.
Ordered the brisket crepes and they were average. Chocolate banana crepe was slightly better. It is located in this tiny alley.
Pancake was fluffy.
H. G.
Good pancakes. Staff are polite but not friendly, you don’t feel welcome.
M. S.
Food is usually always decent quality.
Unfortunately the new owners have changed everything about the menu and you can now NOT order from the 'kids' menu which used to be called "for the young and young at heart", no idea why since you're still buying something.
Only reason I'm giving 3 stars, takes the fun away.
J. S.
So delicious! The meals are huge and so yummy. The service was excellent and the restaurant was clean and tidy. We will go back again soon!
K. P.
While the decor could definitely do with a little spruce up the food and service was excellent. 3 of us dined there at 10pm new years eve and all three of our meals were delicious. The Texas coleslaw by far the best coleslaw, I loved it.
D. S.
Great food, very helpful staff, at a reasonable price.
A. P.
We tried their valentines special and it was absolutely amazing. The pancakes are so tasty and the staff and whole atmosphere was so friendly and welcoming. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone lover of pancakes. They also do burgers and buns which we will definitely try next time.
M. B.
Always good flavour and good service. Serves are large - recommend early dinner instead of afternoon tea. You won't need more food. Good selection of drinks.
S. G.
Awesome place. Huge meals and great variety. Even cater for gluten free. A little bit pricey but worth it
L. K.
Staff were friendly, and the food was amazing. Got the Nutella shake which was perfect and not too sweet. The Jamaican pancakes were very sweet but awesome!
One of the rooms was a little warm to sit in but had other options and found a good table under the aircon.
B. F.
Very quaint and such a welcoming enviorment, the girl serving us was so chirpy! Their servings are massive, neither me or my partner could finish our meals, but they provide takeaway boxes for times like this thankfully! Their nutella shake was so awesome and their iced coffees are strong! We got the german feast, cottage fried potatoes and the "it" (pancakes with fancy bananas and walnuts)
A. (. b. P.
The guy who worked there looks like he wants to die , the egg tasted like rubber. The banana split was amazing.
Don’t know if I will go again, the place need re doing. :)
O. S.
My boyfriend used to go to the Original Pancake Kitchen when he was at Uni. That's why it was one of the first places he took me in Adelaide. He was amazed how well they preserved the venue for last 10 years. Nothing much changed, the same design, the same 24 hours open hours, the same delicious food.
We ordered original pancakes with butter and maple syrup along with a big breakfast. We were completely full after we had a half of the portion but it was so good that we couldn't resist to finish everything on the place. We enjoyed the experience and will definitely go there next time when we visit Adelaide.
J. B.
Gluten free options are available but check with availability of things like chocolate for milkshakes and decaf coffee if you are after them. They had run out when we went and the pancakes with banana and topping was a little too sweet. Good place to go as they're almost always open.
T. W.
Our group of 5 had to wait close to 20 minutes for someone to come take our order, seems we were forgotten about.
I had the steak option, along with a deliciously hot peppercorn sauce. My meal was nice but I felt a little aggrieved at the price. $24.50 for a steak isn't too bad except the setting is so underwhelming, the service so ordinary.
I also ordered a half carafe of 'red' wine and that was only $8, happy with that. No idea what it was but it was fine.
It's the Pancake Kitchen, perfect for drunks who need food.
s. k.
Food quality is good, customer service is good but I found that style and taste is missing when i ate here a year ago. And plateing is 2/5.
M. C.
Food was generally ok, pancakes are decent... not the fluffy ones nor the dense ones. Good range of food. The place needs much updating e.g. lighting, seating etc to attract customers.
L. W. T.
We liked our food and the service!
l. o.
The blueberry pancakes are amazing!! the rest of the breakfast was fairly good. I really enjoyed the ambiance with vintage decorations and interesting posters. Great for families I would say.
A.
Pancake Kitchen has never failed me. Always excellent pancakes, struggle not to just get the blueberry every time. Cottage potatoes are a delicious side, and the banana split was really nice too!
M. C.
Came in for breakfast on my birthday. The young lad Pratik offered me a complimentary hot drink or dessert. What a legend! Ripper way to start my day. Top customer service despite being run off his feet. Cheers
A. H.
The floor was sticky. Food was decent, but hard to give better than three stars when every step was like I was walking on sticky tape. Made the whole place feel quite unclean.
S. P.
We came here late night. Not sure about the staff members name but blonde tip tattoo guy, fantastic service. Would recommend / 10
A. Q.
The food is classic here! You want delicious pancakes, you will (consistently) get them here! Presentation of the food is below average and the setting is a bit vintage/old but i guess this place has become more of an icon for Adelaide so maybe that's the look but it's not my taste.
H. J.
NICE
I had to wait a little to place an order, but it was so kind that it was good. The food was delicious, too. I'll be back again.
K.
Nice food, exactly what you'd expect at a pancake place. Building feels very run down. A bit more attention to detail would bump up the score.
S. P.
Nice environment, overall food, we was expecting other taste, we felt little bit disappointed about the flavours.
T. W.

Came in today for the first time with my partner and we really had such a great time. Their newest waiter Josh started today and he did his best to make us feel like we were at home. He had a smile on all day and such a great personality to go a long with it.
I definitely recommend this place as a any type of occasion restaurant. We will definitely be coming back for more of the great food and excellent customer service!
Hope you had a good first day Josh and thanks for making our experience worth it!😊
L. L.
Still the best pancakes ever great service friendly staff.
H. J.

T. H.
Great service and good prices for the portions of food
T. K.
Great atmosphere any time of the day. Fantastic food sweet or savoury.
B. T.
Good spot for some, rather obviously, waffles and pancakes. It's open 24/07 so it's a really good choice when you crave some comfort food late at night
R. R.
Awesome food with many different options, nice colourful place with good prices and location at the heart of Adelaide and upstanding service 24/7!!! Is a mandatory stop!
D. S.
Great baked to order pancake and desert joint. Didn't try their savoury menu unfortunately but they had quite a range.
D. W.
Reluctantly went here for breakfast however was pretty happy with what was served up for the price.
Pancakes light and fluffy. My eggs were slightly under cooked (soft whites). Had to restrain myself from not using to much maple syrup.
Would likely go back.
r. f.
Really great nachos and Ceaser salad and chips. However, the Mac N Cheese tasted like packet mix that was microwaved...
W. L. T.
Amazing pancakes and great service by the staff! It hits all the right spots without being too overbearing. Would definitely recommend!
C. s.
After 30yrs and 4 generations of family gatherings here, im still amazed at how incredible the food is and how friendly the staff are.
Even at 1am
Staff went above and beyond for my daughters surprise visit here and she was completely amazed with the food.
I can't recommend this venue enough and will continue to come back for years to come 😍😍😍
D. S. S.
A very nice place at the heart of the city. Best thing is it's open for 24 hours. So you can have whatever you like at anytime. Pancakes are really good. There are lots of options to choose from. I love the Russian blits one. Steak are also good in reasonable price.
M. M. F.
because these are all things you need to know about the best way to get your child to work in a school or college where you can help you to log in to school holidays or to get a hand book for the first one in die huis is stil is good
T. E.
My dad kept harping on about this place so we went there for brekky, glad we did because the food was amazing. A little pricey but it's well worth it.
A. N.
Stodgy pancakes coupled with a distinctly average full breakfast. However it is open all day and it does sell a bunch of other stuff. So it's not all underwhelming.
J. C.
Absolutely delicious pancakes. We had the Canadian Feast and the Vegetarian cheese pancake. Couldn't recommend them more, the butter on the fluffy pancakes mixed with all you can drizzle maple syrup left us waddling through the city happy chappy.
Definitely going again.
M. C.
Big thanks to caleb and chris.s for providing immaculate service, very thick shakes and some epic pancakes!
one week later...sir caleb evans has proven himself to be God's gift of humanity, amen.
A. J.
Amazing value and amazing food! Went just over a week ago after not being for so many years and I absolutely adored it. Great atmosphere and friendly staff.
R. L.
Fantastic Service! Cannot fault the support offered by the team, particuarly Joshua. Thanks for the carer and resolutions you have presented to one of my NDIS consumers who needed pre-paid meals, you've made their life so much easier.
J. K.
Felt like I needed to go to this institution. It's a fun menu, great drunk food.
H. S.
Open 24/7. Varieties of pancakes. Bit costly in my opinion. Chicken Cajun was not tasty. Felt like boiled chicken.
A. T.
Great pancake restaurant which provides a large selection of American style dinner menu.
Open 24 hours.
M. W.
Guys, on everything, I had a food coma, it was fkn great. Customer service 11/10 you guys KILLED IT. I’ll be coming back all the time
A. V.
Came in around 10:30 on a Monday, no wait what so ever. Me and my friend actually had the crepes and it was pretty good. Waited a while for my tea and they upgraded my size for me.
I have only a photo of after eating my food.
T. K.
Great atmosphere any time of the day. Fantastic food sweet or savoury.
S. F.
Consistently great food, friendly staff and one of my favourite breakfasts after a night shift.
K. M.
The best place to get your pancake fix, no matter what time it is! They are open 24/7 and have a good selection of pancakes ranging from savory to sweet. Food isn't spectacular, but still good. Service is usually quick.
S. B.
I guarantee you won't walk out of here hungry! Meals are reasonably priced and the staff were very helpful and friendly. The tired look adds to the charm of the place. Well worth a visit.
T. H.
Great service and good prices for the portions of food
J. M.
Many many years ago I would have given the pancake kitchen 1 star, only because I couldn't have given it zero. I walked out because of extremely rude staff with pathetic service...
However, I have dined here a few times over the past couple years and there has been a huge improvement. The staff are lovely, efficient and welcoming. The food has been great since returning. I will gladly return in future
S. C.
Very delicious pancakes! The two stack is easy when you want something sweet and simple, it's also great with a cup of hot tea.
H. B.
It's been years, 8 years in fact since we last came here. Not because the food was lacking but because customer's children running around, licking fingers and touching everything. We were pleasantly surprised, updated entry, service and food were great however cleanliness could be ramped up a bit for 5 stars.
L. L.
Still the best pancakes ever great service friendly staff.
D. B.
My favourite place to take my family, great food great atmosphere just simply great don't change, please don't change
P. S.
This place is great. Great service, huge servings and really great prices. If you can thonk of it, they have a pancake for it.
G. A.
Been coming here for 50 years. Pancakes always great. Quirky decor is old hat. The concept may have had its run. Time for a rethink. Easily seen as run down rather than quirky by todays patrons.
S. R.
Service average, food ok
Not sure I'd rush to go back
B. O.
Serving delicious pancakes & crepes. Not too bad, must try if you are in the city.
R. S. (.
they'll give you pancakes at 3am like what's not to love
plus the staff are all really friendly!
M. H.
Yes! They cater for gluten free.
I had the Apple pie topping. Delicious.
N. T.
We had a fabulous experience. In addition to delicious pancakes and crepes the staff member joked and interacted with my children. He also organised the stack I ordered for them to share onto seperate plates, so they felt like they had their own, without me making the request. Thank you.
A. R.
Thank you for the late night snack.
Delicious and that's only a two stack!
S. O.
Quick service and lovely pancakes. The other ingredients were normal but the pancakes were fluffy and just right!
W. S.
Always loved The Pancake Kitchen, I have fond memories of the first few times I've come and had their amazing pancake meals!
I generally order the German Feast and I gotta admit, I love it!
Their customer service is always so lovely and their food is absolutely amazing and their meal sizes are just right!! (I'd finish the meal feeling a little over full! 😁)
Anyone visiting Adelaide, The Pancake Kitchen is an iconic must do restaurant, I mean this is one of the places that people would say, "Did you really go to Adelaide, if you didn't eat at The Pancake Kitchen!
A definite must for all sweet and savoury pancake enthusiasts!
They do also offer a few other meals if pancakes aren't your thing which means it can cater for the people who aren't exactly the biggest fan of the amazing invention of the pancake 😎
5 stars because one, the quality of food and service is great and two I've never ever had a bad experience at this restaurant.
Hats off to the staff and managers over the years
You do a great job and always have. 😁
L. M.
Lovely atmosphere...
But didn't feel great later in the day after eating here
L. B.
We had a lovely experience at the pancake kitchen in Modbury. The environment was lovely and the food was nice as well. Mainly the customer service was amazing uplifted the way xowrience dining here. He was very accommodating and was super engaging. He even got cutlery for my niece's toy and played the part. Excellent service thank you guys
D. R.
Friendly staff and atmosphere, yummy food and clean and tidy, love all the decorations and range of food!
T. M.
Heard horror stories and found our experience to be the opposite. Staff really friendly and helpful, quick service and the options were quite large.
R. P.
I don’t even know where to begin, the pancake kitchen on Gilbert street is the best.
Great atmosphere when you walk in, we were greeted warmly and were seated straight away. We chose our food from the extensive and inclusive menu and our food came in record time and tasted delightful. Next to our table we had the delight of a bookshelf stacked with free to read books to browse. We had the opportunity to talk to the manager to compliment him on the store and how things are run as well as the outstanding quality of the food. Overall amazing experience, I will definitely be returning and i recommend to anyone looking for a good hearty meal around Adelaide!
P.S the hollandaise was absolutely perfect :)
S.
Great pancakes but the worst coffee ever (long black)
J. H.
24 hours openning and nice staff are great things in this place, but the food is average. The wings was fatty and it had no flavour.
M. W.
Not a bad place for a stack of pancakes. Heart of the city location.
K. F.
Visited for breakfast on a busy Saturday morning.
We were seated quickly by friendly staff, at a freshly clean table.
Food and drinks were as ordered and everything was tasty.
Servings are on the larger side, but not ridiculous. You won't go home hungry.
O. T. A.
Great food, friendly staff , tasty food . One fault toilets where disgusting.
T. Q. Y.
Staff are warm and helpful. Pancake is quite delicious. Had the stacks with Bavarian apple with ice cream and really enjoyed it
E. D.
Had an excellent breakfast, didnt have to wait and the place has excellent staff and service!
s. h.
Came here to celebrate my husband's birthday at midnight and was absolutely with the yummy pancakes and drinks.
Definitely a value for money place.
J. B.
The menu has a lot of yummy options. Today I decided for pancakes with Jamaican bananas.
A. K.
Great place. Old charm of interior, kind waitresses, large portions and sooooo tasty! Must visist when you come to Adelaide!
M. J.
One of the best restaurants in the world! Never change the decor - still the Original. Sweet Pancakes lovely & fluffy. The vegetarian tasty pancake sublime - very fresh crisp salad, fried cheese & famous whipped butter.
Generous sizes too - has never changed too.
A. B.
Awesome staff , an institution in Adelaide for good grub ... all hours
T. S.
The staff were great and the pancakes were excellent
C.
Great staff. Served quickly, food disappeared quickly too! Smoothie was nice and thick while still being drinkable, pancake serving was good size. Great vegetarian/vegan options if needed. Able to be seated without climbing stairs (sister and I both have bad knees) even during partial renovation. Love this place.
A. T.
The food was SO good, and the people are really nice!
M.
Always amazing food, good service and you leave stuffed full!
J. F.
Very yummy! Great price, waiting time was a bit long but it was a Saturday night so was expected.
Lovely and very friendly staff.
Overall great experience.
L.
Food was good, service was good, kitchen staff need to be more careful about what they talk about when they have customers though
P. O.
Some of the forks and knives on my table were dirty, but pancakes were good
k. O.
Hidden gem you eat till you fall down wow
J. F.
The first/original site of what is now a franchise. A little bit expensive for pancakes and that's why it's not 5 stars. Otherwise it's awesome. Lots of toppings, friendly staff. Try a Swiss shake if your into shakes.
D. E.
I used to go there back in 1965 with my mum. I was 15years old. Wednesday's had a special thick melted cheese on pancake, and if I remember correctly some ham as well.
Loved them. Also brandied apricots.
In the early 70's would go there with my mates, and girlfriend of a weekend after going to the Largs Pier hotel live music. Cold Chisel etc.
Have been back a few times up to last year. Miss the good times I used to have there!!

Can't stop drooling over the thought of those pancakes u get here!
R. T.
Amazing food, terrific service, fantastic prices
A. s.
Our service was beyond reproach. We were looked after by 2nd in charge, she is a credit to the business. Very professional and friendly. Nothing was too much trouble and she handled guests with ease. I applaud her work ethics. Thank you from all of us at table 20 for Erins Birthday. ☯️☮💖😈🧸🧸🧸🧸🧸
s. l.
Haven't been in years and was impressed with the new menu. Awesome service and fabulous food
Y. M.
Very quick service and accommodated our large family with our double pram with no issues. Went above and beyond to make sure we were very happy. Great big meals that actually filled our kids up. We went back again the next day for breakfast. We will definitely be back again when we are next in Adelaide :) thank you
A. L.
Great little place, nice coffee and awesome food.
S. T.
First time uber order and choices were a bit limited as to what I was after. Rang PC in CBD and spoke to Josh who was amazing. Helped me out with my order and just wanted to give a shout out to him. 5 stars!!! Delivery was on time and professional as well. Definately will use this service again.
I. T.
It was a great place with delicious pancakes. We love it!
C. J.
Always fast service and as a visitor to Adelaide it was fantastic to find a place to eat that's open 24 hours
j. l.
Josh was the best waiter ever!!!! He was very uplifting and happy to be at work which was nice to experience after a night out. It was also very early in the morning and he was extra chirpy for an early morning. He gave us extras which was very kind of him! Definitely will come back just to have Josh serve us :)
A. L.
Good pancake place that opens 24/7 so it's really convenient.
G. G.
Pancakes desperately need an improved recipe with better quality ingredients to start with... especially with the flour, which seriously needs further investigation. The fruits used such as strawberries and bananas were perfectly ripen and freshly cut. Service was great, truthfully friendly and helpful.
Great vibe and atmosphere.
S. L.
I love this place. It's an Adelaide institution. The pancakes are delicious and fluffy and the savoury meals are great too. It's not necessarily 'cheap' but it's 24 hour so I expect to pay a little more for the convenience. They have re-done the front entrance area to contain a proper bar. It's much better than those sticky tables and uncomfortable cushions. Back to the food, it's lovely. I have the Bavarian apple or the blueberries every time and they are always great! I cannot fault this gem of a pancake place. The original and the best.
R. L.
Absolutely delicious pancakes!! Also the drinks were great, especially my coffee and the iced chocolate! Service was perfect and we went for lunch during the week so it was nice and quite and we could hear one another. Will definitely be back! :)
F. Q.
Lovely presentation and good taste , but need more clean plate and better price, a little bit salty on the meat. And making chips thin can actually let it more crispy but also losing potato’s original flavor, suitable for taking kids here.
B. A.
Great place for a quick dessert. You can also order all day breakfast and even burgers and fries. I ordered the tall stack of pancakes and that filled me up. The staff are very welcoming wishing us a happy mother's day. And the prices are affordable.
D. F.
Food was good came out quickly and service was nice
J. A. (.
We went here late at night already for some sweet cravings. Upon arrival, the server told us that they need a reservation for a group of more than 5 people (there were 7 of us). However, there were no diners around so we insisted. The server gave in and let us in. Other than this not so good experience, the food was really good and we had a great time.
J. C.
The staff were great and the decor is nice. I'd give it a 5 star rating, except the savoury dishes (beef/chicken etc) were served on sweet crepes.
It just wasn't as enjoyable as it could have been, and two of our party didn't eat theirs.
But if you can request a different crepe, then it is well worth a visit.
M. J.
The food amazing and the service was great, even though the waitress came too early for us to read the menus and then came back a long time after we had finished. But when she did take our orders she was very friendly and quick! All in all its great if you feel like pancakes early in the morning because the best thing about this place is that it is open 24 hours!
S. C.
We had a group of people booked for dinner on a Saturday night. We arrived promptly and were welcomed and taken to our table. Menus were available on the table. We viewed menu and were ready to order in less than 10 minutes. Our drink and food orders were taken shortly after.
It took approximately 40 minutes to receive our drinks and a further 25 to 30 minutes for the food. Not all the food arrived together with one part arriving 15 minutes before the others.
That being said the food was delicious. Just such a shame that the drinks and food took so long to arrive. I will be back and hopefully the arrival of drinks and meals will be better.
A.
I've been coming to this place for a few years. The staff are always friendly. The food has always been served quickly. The food tastes amazing.
This is honestly the best place that I've bought pancakes and crepes from. My favourite dish is the Russian Blintz.

We both had the Farmers breakfast (for dinner!) and enjoyed it. My friend asked for her pancakes on a separate plate from the eggs and bacon, which they did without any issues. The staff were friendly, polite and helpful. The food was delicious. They also serve some non pancake meals such as burgers and steaks, which we didn't have so can't comment on those. We did have some fries on the side which were very nice. I will be coming back.

I've been going here on and off for years, disappointed in the change to the 'strawberries' pancakes. They used to marinate and cook the strawberries before drizzling on top of your short stack, but have replaced with cold sliced strawberries and what can only be described as milkshake strawberry syrup. Still enjoyable but not as good as they used to be.
Cottage potatoes were very good, and so was the chocolate malt Swiss shake.
It's a great place to go any hour of the day or night as they are open 24hours 7days a week.
The staff are warm and welcoming and the restaurant has many different rooms for any degree of privacy, with a family friendly, homely atmosphere. A great place to catch up with friends, family, great to have a first date or even book out for a party.
R. H.
Truly sensational.
X. T. P.
Haven't tried the pancakes but my group ordered all the cocktails and they weren't as good as we expected. One ordered strawberry milkshake and it was way too sweet.
L. W.
I always love the pancakes as they're so fluffy and light as well delicious. As I went to the pancake kitchen a month ago and tried the mad March pancakes and oh my gosh they were delicious like always.
I am also glad there is vegan and vegetarian options as well on the menu which is great. Plus never had bad experiences at all
E.
Staff really friendly and happy. New guy was doing a really good job on answering questions for us. Thank you. The servings were enormous. I do wish there were more vegan options but we were happy regardless. One thing bothers me...that was the sickly sweet smell that hits you as you walk in. It must be of the sticky tables and floors from the many many years of icecream being dropped on them.

I recently visited during the school holidays with the family, we rocked up for an afternoon snack without a reservation. When we arrived the place was packed! The waiter that greeted us apologized there would be a wait before we could be seated. Happy to wait, it was less than 10 minutes before we were seated and given menus.
During this time we watched as an extremely busy restaurant was expertly dealt with by the front of house. Even when a large group came in wanting to be seated, multiple walkins, customers wanting to pickup their take away and even a very pushy customer who just decided it was critical he make a reservation in person (whilst taking ages to work out what date he wanted), the front of house dealt with it very professionally and treating customers with respect.
After a small wait we ordered, again with an apology the food could take a little longer than normal. In under 10 minutes we had our drinks, under 15 minutes our meals. Which considering the atmosphere and the vast amount of things to look in this quaintly decorated restaurant went in no time.
They aren't called the Pancake kitchen for nothing. The pancakes were light and fluffy, delicious to eat and reasonably priced. The meals were well presented and good sized. We left well fed, impressed with the service and will definitely be returning at some point in the future.
B. B.
Staff very friendly, its quite a nice old style place. Food not very cheap and of poor quality. I wouldn't order a steak here only pancakes which is what seems to be the only thing they are good at making and seems like pretty decent quality. They do charge a surcharge to eat in on public holidays which i find odd and extremely greedy to be honest. Outside seating is available. Kids always seem to love this place. I pretty much come here for them.
M. O.
Such a novelty having a 24hr pancake bar, friendly service despite staff being away with the fairies
C. M.
It's good for some lovely pancakes, especially after a day of shopping.
S. M.
Food was yummy! The place has character and charm.
We went early on a Saturday morning and the staff were friendly. There were a few people already dining so it's a popular place.
The only downside would be that the tables are a bit too close to each other and the morning sun coming through the front window can be hot! But overall, a nice place to eat 24/7.
C. F.
Good position to access by foot. No parking available. Large menu selection. Nice staff. Bit pricey for food, just a FYI for families. Amenities available. Disability and pram friendly.....
A.
Great night out ... lemon crepes were elite and the service from Tyson was awesome
J. S.
Very busy on a Sunday morning which was a surprise.
Quick service and very generous servings.
Food was fresh and delicious.
S. H.
Not the best vegetarian if you don't want desert but great for something at 2am any day
J. S.
Food was good. Decor a bit old and dark.
P. C.
All ways love coming here. Most of the times it's after a good night out on the town. They offer an amazing variety of food that makes you take forever to order (everything is just too tempting). The maple syrup is the best I've ever had. The pancakes are always beautiful and fluffy. It's differently a must do if you are in the area. Good thing it has 24 hours service.
M. D.
Alright if you are not worried about your weight. The food is very tasty, service is friendly, serving sizes match the prices. A visit every 50 years is a novelty, but not what I would reccomend as a regular drop in spot.
J. J.
A favourite stop of ours & has been for a long time, because it’s open 24 hour. Have seen some improvements in the last few years. The menu has changed but still offers the sweet and savoury selection of pancakes. It now offers burgers and other meals.
My favourite is the all day breakfast pancake selection.
The service has also improved and the rest rooms are cleaner.
The coffees still need improvement though.
R.
I love the pancake kitchen. I used to go there when I was a kid 40 years ago 😪 Despite the delicious goodness that comes from that kitchen they have either forgotten or stuffed up my order the last 2 times I was there. 40 minute wait for pancakes is terrible. Fix your order tracking and table placement and myself and friends will frequent more often. Delicious disappointment.
S. H.
Delicious! Slightly hidden away but the pancakes were yum!
D. L.
Food is always good! Never go home hungry that's for sure!
seating was pretty tight the last time we went... it was about 11pm on a Friday night, busy, yes... and we were stuffed in the back corner room. the backs of our chairs, touching the next tables, while a long (obviously reserved) table sat unattended for the 20 mins we stayed...
needs a bigger building...
R. M.
I was excited to have pancakes for my birthday breakfast, so came here. Let's get this straight...this place is open 24 hours a day and is really kid friendly, so the venue and decor weren't my style. But the pancakes and bacon were great and delivered quickly. Staff were friendly but I was a bit confused because you have to pay when you order at your table rather than when you're done. If you don't expect a fine dining experience you won't be disappointed.
D. P.
As a kid growing up in the 70s, the pancake parlour was always a treat. Now 40 years later and 40 years older that magical touch is missing.
Maybe it's a sign of the times or a faded memory but it is missing something.
L. S.
Amazing service. Thank you Renee for taking care of us tonight😄.
J. S.
Food was great and the coffee hit the spot. Staff were friendly and we weren't waiting long once our order was taken. Unfortunately it seemed as though we had been forgotten sitting outside. On arrival we walked in, were suggested a table but asked to sit outside, where we then went. No one came for some time so I went inside. A waitress quickly addressed me and followed me outside to take our order. Of the two tables outside, one had birdshit on it (looked fresh, understandable), the other had the remnants of some previous customers meals. The waitress quickly cleaned these up and took our order. I thought the initial delay of our order being taken was understandable as they seemed pretty busy - despite the busyness we weren't waiting long once the order was placed. So still 4 stars, would definitely go back again but I will say, try not to forget about the outside peoples. :)
N. M.
Joshua, the gentleman working the early morning shift is amazing!
We often stop in for breakfast after work and he is so good at what he does! We appreciate you Joshua!!!
P.
Customer service could have been better.
B. H.
Yummy fluffy pancakes and generous serves. coffee was nice but nothing spectacular. Pretty sure the syrup wasn't true maple which is why only 4☆. I'm happy to pay more for maple syrup. Overall a satisfying breakfast.
S. A.
I love their pancakes! Place is small (you'll be seated very closely with other guests), but if you visit outside peak hours its not too noisy and cramped. Although i love their pancakes so much I'll put up with it. I've received fast service each time. Its open 24 hours a day. (Ive been coming here EACH YEAR for my birthday since i was about 5. That was 40 years ago!!) 😃
J. a. L. M.
I come here often and I've never been let down. Often served by Nathan who is super friendly and great to have a chat to. All the staff are cool and the vibe of the place is very hip. Love this place. One thing though, the savoury options not as top notch as the sweet options. Depends on your taste.
B. C.
I have come to the original pancake kitchen for many years now, and it never changes, when you walk in, you get greeted by one of the great staff members, at any time, day or night, then they take you to your table. And you just look through the great menu that they have, they have great choices, great food and great pancakes, when they do take your order there so polite to you, and they’re not afraid to have a great conversation with you and get to know you. And just waiting for your order to come, looking around the restaurant it feels like you’re back in the 80’s because you’re around so much history. So definitely stop by if you’re in the CBD, don’t worry they’re open 24/7 so if you’re hungry or thirsty you know that the original pancake kitchen has you covered.
T. H.
Really great food. I got the pancake eggs benny. I was abit worried to try this as I am from Cairns and we do not have food like this. But it was very good. Very good combination and the hollandaise sauce was amazing. Great staff and service too. :) next time I'm up in adelaide. I will be back.
A. C.
Nice atmosphere, decor good and the place is clean. Service was both good and bad. Quick to deliver food but forgot a drink. The pancakes are good, very filling. Worth visiting, I remember it in my uni days but different now.
A.
Really tasty food, and also a great variety. Complementary maple syrup is delicious also. Price is reasonable when you consider that it's open 24/7.
I'll be back on a Tuesday for the all you can eat pancakes.
N. A.
Always nice food, reasonable prices and freindly staff. A little flustered last night...new staff did well considering.
J. S.
The Pancake kitchen is a great institution. Available at any hour just bring your money as it is far from cheap. Unfortunately you pay for the convenience. For a young child be sure to just get one or two pancakes only and not four. It's a hidden gem you won't be able to see from the street and the signage won't help you. No parking.
W. T.
Haven't been here for 25 years. Went today place is like a time warp nothings changed still great coffee & pancakes. Good friendly service. Won't be waiting 25 years for the next visit that's for sure. Fantastic.
エ.
No one seems available to clean tables inbetween patrons. Food was descent but overly sweet. In Australia a "milkshake" is just milk. If you want what the rest of the world refers to as a "milkshake" here then you must ask specifically for a "thick shake".
S. M.
Was really yummy 😃 great service, food, drinks. I had savoury one and next time will have a sweet one. Can't wait 🤣🤣
陳.
Delicious hamburger ,good smoothies and nice pancakes
D. “. F. F.
Incredible customer service, great desserts, affordable prices for all and friendly staff. When one of the staff thought the jug of Fanta we had been given was too small, he gave us a second for free. Would recommend to anybody I know, and plan to come again.
s. s.
The pancakes are delightful bites of pure bliss... With fresh butter and maple syrup to be poured on as per our desire...
The daily special burgers are a good value for money meal ... The bread is fresh and soft..the chicken just so perfectly seasoned and the sauces just the right amount...
Sit by the window and lose yourself in this blissful experience of food.🥰
S.
Classic banana split
J. S.
Has really gone down hill lately. Great food but customer service is poor and employees don't really care much about customers. Had a staff member act agressive toward us for not booking in advanced. The Pancake Kitchen used to be a wonderful place to just stop by while in the city but now you get treated poorly if you didn't call ahead
N. X.
So glad we stumbled across this looking for pancakes. Freshly made, amazing topping, decent coffee. Staff were friendly, and although we came in at an incredibly busy time (just after the Christmas pageant) the staff were calm and the manager was not at all pushy to move people on. Food came out quickly and was hot, and the serving size was more than adequate, especially for the price. Great experience. Can't recommend this place for claustrophobia, but the atmosphere is unquie and cosy.
B. D.
We literally stumbled down an alley and found this buzzy joint. Like a relic from a pancake past, this place is fun and perfect for hangover breakfasts, family get togethers or if you are really craving comfort food.
I did not expect to enjoy the pancake factory as much as I did, but after dining I can see why the place was packed with locals of all walks of life.
The food was good quality home-style food, and yes the pancakes are awesome. The service is quick, friendly and efficient and the prices are good too.
K. b.
Great food! Cute little place. the only complaint would be we felt we couldnt have a conversation as the table set up is so close to each other you can hear the other tables breathe...it make it a little uncomfortable in that way. If it was set out to be more roomy it would have been perfect. Will be coming back.
M. Y.
Great place to take young kids.
L. A.
Had lunch here. We had the Chicken crepe which came with salad and was very nice. The second dish, the Champion Chicken Bun was not so good. The shredded chicken was watery and bland and since the chicken was the heart of the dish, it was not good. There was supposed to be a spicy sauce but it was not evident. The meal however, was served with delicious chips. For over $40 for lunch for 2, it was not a place we would return to.
J. K.
Nice pancakes and drinks, good atmosphere and clean!
J. S.
I go at least once a year with my partner. (If not more) Service is always different good/bad but food taste good, always happy when I leave its not meant to be a high class place so I'd give it five stars for what it is because it's a nice enough place. I love the farmers breakfast! It's never come out cold or taste awful, it always come out decent if not delicious I am a fussy eater too! But you can't really judge what other say because every experience is different but I'd definately keep going back!
D. B.
This place came highly recommend as a newbie to Adelaide. It was OK. I was expecting a more 'pancakes on the rocks' kinda deal, but its a little bit more run down than that - or perhaps you can call it character :) Staff are lovely and the crepes were 7/10.
K.
Friendly, quick service. Food was ok but nothing special or delicious. Considering the price not worth it, would go elsewhere. We ordered the Bavarian Apple pancakes and pulled pork crepes. Atmosphere is chilled, casual - bit tired looking through.
C. D.
Minimal Vegan options available- but at least they were tasty and they are making some effortt. Vegan pancake was decent. Baked beans were yum- I'm guessing a hint of smoked paprika and cumin 😊
A little pricey.
A bit dark and dingy in feel. Needed more natural light for sure.
Staff were nice enough, but I get the feeling maybe they do long shifts as they seemed.... tired.
M. D.
Reviewing the new Modbury Triangle Venue.
The Crepe Scott & Farmers Breakfast were nice, I wouldn’t rave about them, but they were tasty & the portions were sufficient.
A little more butter cream on the pancakes with the Farmers Breakfast would have been better.
Sadly, our Jubilee Pancakes were blackened and burnt & tasted burnt, then were disguised with the huge proportion of Ice Cream & Strawberries.
The venue is small & loud, the noise travels throughout.
And the menu prices reflect the Gilbert Place Venue, which is open 24/7. As the Modbury Venue is not, I do feel that the prices here should reflect this...
A novelty visit, glad we tried it out but I won’t be hurrying back. For two meals, a milkshake & a dessert to share, $70-ish isn’t bad value, but I’m disappointed in that Jubilee.
S. S.
Not bad all things considered.
I've had better coffee but I've certainly had worse breakfast. For diner style food open 24/7, you don't have another option in Adelaide and don't really need one.
The vegan pancakes were very nice with the apple topping.
I enjoyed my time there, not sure I'll be returning any time soon but I would recommend it to anyone after a quick pancake fix and, hey, vegan pancakes at 4am is now an option in Adelaide.
M. B.
This place hadn't changed in years. And that's a good thing. I used to go here in the 1970s regularly, usually early in the mornings and the decor and vibe was great. Pancakes are always great and that goes without saying. Keep up the great work guys.
c. d.
Customer service was exceptional! Food was great and came out quickly. Shoutout to Tyson for the great service :)
s. h.
Great pancakes at very reasonable price.
O. i. i. G.
Oh my gawd! 😱😱 We just had the best pancakes delivered by Uber Eats. The packaging was so very careful, the serves were big and the pancakes were the delicious. You want a dessert, while watching Netflix? Get on Uber Eats and order from these guys. You won't be disappointed!!!
D. J. V.
Place is under new management since the last time we went. But when we use to live here it was a weekly visit.
Now five stars but this place isn't a sit down fine dining location. It's cheap and cheerful and attracts all sorts of a crowd.
The pancakes (savory) are the best. Love the range and the strawberry thickshakes and top it all off with a short stack.
The place can cater for a pair or a large group and the staff are always pleasant. Drinks are also available as it has a liquor license. Ohh and the best thing is it's 24/7!
L. T.
Always a reliable and excellent establishment! Have never let us down in service and food especially at those most necessary times of day when others aren't always open!
M. R.
Great pancakes as usual. Hasn't changed much in 40+ years
M. T.
Food has gone down in quality a little bit, order blueberry pancake, it came out giant which is a surprise, however it's over salted and soaking wet with blueberries that's not sweet or with any flavour at all, taste like frozen blueberries. Atmosphere is okay, price is okay, but for "pancake kitchen" there is so many non related and weird stuff in the menu, menu can definitely do a size down and focus on what you do best --pancakes
M. P.
The prices seem to have increased and the portion sizes seem to have decreased. Long time pancake kitchen German Feast customer but the last visit was mildly disappointing. 3 stars for the awesome memories.
L. C.
Food was great as usual but seemed to take a very long time to be cooked and served.
Short stack took longer than farmers breakfast. Tho apologies were offered.
Still recommended for a tasty filling meal
Clean amenities and never close. Great value
V. A.
The food was incredibly delicious and customer service was incredible - special thanks to Tyson for making our experience amazing!!
I. P.
As always great food and great staff! There really is no better way to explain it, always serve amazing food, massive amount for what you order and the staff and very friendly and help you with whatever you need. Always have an excellent time there, any person from Adelaide would say the same 😊
R. A.
Amazing service. Greeted the moment we open the door by the staff behind the bar. Friendly towards my daughter and spoke kindly and helped me with ordering a drink for my sugar free daughter .the place was nice and clean . The service was great. Food was really good. Drinks Amazing. 5/5
S. B.
Always fun to come here first time i brought my son. Lots of space for my 1.5 Yo to stretch his legs. The chili con carne was nice but u should just call it con carne cos there was no chili in it. Which was pretty disappointing.
A. D. D.
The Pancake Kitchen never fails to amaze me. The quality and patience that comes from the kitchen is just so spectacular. You can never go wrong going here. Keep being true to your name and remain one of Adelaide's greatest icons of all time.
J. A.
Friendly staff and great service. One of very few places open for dining 24/7 in Adelaide. Food is good and prices are slightly on the higher end. Not just a dessert cafe, it offers a wide variety of foods sure to satisfy every one.
A.
Much better than it used to be. The Cajun chicken is amazing! Pancakes are now back to being en pointe like they were when I was a kid. Super nice ataff and the manager Josh was really nice and helpful :)
B. B. S.
Best late night feed! ( or breakfast).
Excellent pricing.
Will come back every time we visit Adelaide.
Love this spot & don't care that it's not renovated.
Keep it up owners.
A. R. (.
A wonderful man named Josh served my table, and I was absolutely stunned by his service! With witty humerous comments, great customer service and outstanding quality of food, my long, hardworking day was ended perfectly by the Original Pancake Kitchen experience!
A. B.
Very yummy espresso martini's
S. J.
Good pancakes meal. And recommend the Swiss shakes
D. E.
Been going back for over 20 years since a teen and as a young mum with my boys over the last 17 yrs and the pancakes are still yum and fluffy! Just what I needed!
Love the menu with pictures. One thing I didn't know know what the gluten free and dairy free pancakes are bought basco shaker pancakes!
D like to see some beef sausage options!
L. M.
The restaurant was a bit on the dirty side our table needed a good wipe down. Pancakes were yummy but the Apricot jam was thinly spread on the top pancake only making the bottom pancake on the stack of 2 a bit dry.
Same scenario applied to the lemon and sugar pancakes.
E. G.
Josh was PHENOMENAL. Such a cool laid back guy with a snazzy aesthetic! The team at pancake kitchen were incredibly accommodating to our massive, last minute group of gremlins, super duper patient. Incredibly grateful for such an amazing time today!
M.
Never closes! Fluffy pancake stacks with a selection of toppings such as whipped butter, maple syrup and icecream. Wide selection of savoury pancake meals. Great service and child friendly in a casual, relaxed, family atmosphere.
B. W. D. A.
Best pancakes in Adelaide. If only because they're pretty much the only place that does them fresh. Prices are a bit steep, and while what you get in your plate might not look the most filling, it definitely is. Points deducted due to the fact that sometimes the tables are sticky, typically late at night because they haven't cleaned them too well besides a quick wipedown. Open 24/7, so it's good for cravings, too.
B. H.
It was my partner and I's first time visiting and we had a wonderful experience! The food was incredible and the staff were even better! Beautiful atmosphere aswell.
(PS: Extra big Thank you to the very friendly and funny staff member Josh for being so wonderful and making us feel so welcomed!)
We will definitely be back!
J. L.
I stayed at Chancellor on Currie (without breakfast) last Dec, so it was extremely convenient for me to just walk over to the Pancake Kitchen for pancakes every morning!
I thoroughly enjoyed my pancakes with ham.
J. T.
New owners from the last time we went. Very popular and started filling up quite early on a Sunday morning. Great service and great food.
J. C. T.
I love the pancakes and the shake, but the place looked dull and sad. It didn't have the atmosphere I was expecting. But the food was definitely good
S. P.
Perfect for a meal after a night out in Adelaide. If you're lucky you could get a last drink at the bar next doors or even at this place. I personally prefer the cheese pancakes with a peanut butter milk shake!
G. H.
The service was great and was checked on multiple before and during my meal. A hidden gem that seemed well frquented by the locals.
Being open 24 hrs - wow - is a good bonus for those who are looking for a pick me up after a long night. Fairly priced and a wide range of options are available so definitely something for everybody.
B.
It's a good place for a get together, however, it's normally quite noisy at night. The seating is a bit cluttered and tables can be sticky.
Bit where else could you get pancakes at 3am?
Y. G.
Huge servings, great feed, affordable menu, quirky old atmosphere(in a good way) and super friendly staff all in a historical, ICONIC Adelaide business. What’s not to love really?!
D. G.
This is a great place to eat. Various menus for breakfast, lunch and dinner for 24 hrs 7 days with an excellent service. I was riding bike for 10 kms to go there and the waitress deliver water for drink quickly on my table before I ordered the foods without I asked. She knew what I needed! 👍👍
E. R.
I mean who doesn’t want pancakes at all hours? Much better than the late night fast food options. Had a lovely time with friends here - the food was so good I couldn’t decide what to order so I must come back to try more options!!
L. B.
The atmosphere was good , wait staff were awesome but the food wasn't the best. Quite undercooked for my liking.
A. B.
Great service, pancakes were cooked to perfection.
Not over crowded.
B. S.
Has the dubious honour of being nearly the only place open at 11:30pm on a weeknight in Adelaide. We had to wait so long for our food that we were almost asleep in the booth by the time it finally came. Food quality has dropped in quality over the last few years, and, although not a particularly bad experience, it was quite disappointing.
M. V.
Simply delicious! The pancakes are always light and fluffy. Lots of different combinations to choose from, there are also other meals available if you don't want to eat pancakes. Highly recommended!
J. k.
Had an amazing experience, service was so quick and we were made to feel like the only customers in the restaurant even tho it was a very busy day. Will definitely be coming back In
E. G.
Amazing and delicious food! Great service! A little pricey, but honestly it is worth it, I had a pulled pork crepe and it tasted soooo goooood. I almost bought another one to go. It really filled me up
E. M.
Feel this place is going down the hill a little. They struggled immensely with lot's of customers. Had to wait for ages to order and then for food to be delivered. Group of 5, the burger was very delicious but the pancakes don't come with real cream anymore.
I. H. I.
Been here many times and never disappointed. Always a nice menu with more than enough on the plate when it arrives. New owners thankfully didnt ruin the place its still bustling and top quality.
K. N.
Great pancakes and heavenly shakes!! Love the new look of the place and the menus. Attentive staff, just takes some waiting if the place is crowded. The best part, it's open 24/7!
H. P.
Needs a good clean and interior needs updating. All pancakes can be made vegan! Crepes and pancakes are lovely but the hangover burger is what you want to order its delicious!!
S. G.
Excellent service. Great staff. Fast delivery of food to the table. Great prices. Great atmosphere. Parking let's it down, but that's due to its location within the city not anything else.
L. B.
Food was very good. Drinks even better, the milkshake was fantastic. Definitely coming back.
J. N. Y.
Great service and good food.
A. B.
The Kitchen stocks decaffeinated coffee and has a warm cosy feeling great for late night visits.
When I ordered pancakes with blueberries it came with an entire punnet of blueberries on top and a scoop of ice cream. Excessive almost, but that is part of the Kitchen's reason for existing. You want to giggle in scandalous glee when your plate arrives.
Overall, great for late night stopovers when you want to have a chat with a friend or date.
D. S.
This place can be a complete hit or a miss depending on the time of day you come here. The service can be really good or really non existent. The food is typically good but wait times can be a little bit too long.
And they also add a surcharge on public holidays.
K. &. J. E.
This is our favourite stop before going home from work. Their foods are extremely yummy! Great hangout place to catch up with friends. Staffs were friendly as well. :) You should try to eat here!
B. O.
Great place. Enjoyed my pancakes and being 24h is awesome. Only complaint would be my friend had difficulty ordering from the kids menu. I understand the prices may have been subsidised but atleast give us an option to pay more if that's what we want. Friend ended up not ordering at all
G. R.
Definitely not for me. Not too bad, just pretty unhealthy and made my hangover much worse. Waitress seemed as though she hated being there, which sort of made us not want to be there either.
E. K.
Not a huge range of savoury food and the steak there was super bland. But holy hell their gravy is incredible. Super cosy vibe too.
S. S.
I think they have changed owners recently. We went there for lunch for my birthday 2 days ago and the menu has conpletwly changed. Before, it was easy to read, with photos, now it just text, everything looks confusing, and they have removed some items.
The food was ok. My eggs benedict were well done, as I asked, so kudos for that, but the hollandaise sauce was a bit bland (but to be fair, i was a little sick so the lack of taste could be just me).
I will try it again when I'm not sivk to be able to better compare but so far, it was better before.
A. C.
Nice little place open 24 hours, off hindley. Great for a bite to eat after a night on the town, a bit classier than maccas. Well priced options, can get busy on Friday and Saturday nights but well behaved clients generally.
C. T.
This is one of those places where you can throw a dart at a menu, and whatever you hit will ruin you for other food establishments. I cannot stress how disappointed you will be with your own cooking, and how horribly inadequate you will feel about your current culinary skills.
10/10 would get crippling depression again
N. R.
My wife and I absolutely love this place. They have delicious pancakes and assorted other items. They do a great canadian breakfast with a mix of sweet and savoury, goes amazing with maple syrup!
C. K.
Expensive .. $8.50 for a spider drink! Nothing special.. Berties was the better pancake place of Adelaide 4 sure, but wasn't bad
. Was ok
D. A.
I absolutely love this restaurant. The service is so good, the staff is amazing and the food and desserts are delicious. Thank you for a wonderful experience
T. S.
Good atmosphere, lovely staff, clean and enjoyable building. However the all you can eat option was a bit falsely advitised as it only comes with four pancakes and some not very nice whipped butter. Overall a good experiance.
T. G.
Wonderful place to stop and have breakfast service is great and the waiting times are short once you place your order
K. M.
Large portions of pancakes. Iced coffee is great. Perhaps need a bit improvement on service speed but understandable as were there during peak hours.
N. E.
Very expensive and it can be slow to get your order in but the food is good (if you like pancakes). They charge a flat rate of 50c for payment by credit card and ask for payment as soon as you order. Serving sizes are decent and very filling in most cases.

Hit & miss. A few good food options but crepes are dry and they sometimes struggle to keep up when their busy. 24/7 makes it a great spot to feed cravings at any time and they also offer gluten free. All in all a decent spot.

Always great food but service is hit and miss.. sometimes you wait a long time to be served and sometimes your drinks don't ever come! Food is always great though so I that's the main thing I guess

Love this place. Have been many times since I was a child. So many delicious and creative ways to serve pancakes.

Great food, great staff. But too cosy for me. Couldn't move my chair to get in or out cos the tables were so close
Will definitely eat there again.

Average food, average service at best.

Hadn't been to the kitchen for 30 plus years. The staff and food were fantastic and the white wine was chilled to perfection. We will be back.
