Had an amazing time at a private session with 11 of us. Each dish was delicious, interesting, and beautifully presented. The Chef and other staff were warm and inviting and created a professional yet light atmosphere for all of us to enjoy. This place has huge potential and I recommend it to anyone who wants to eat high quality food.

What a wonderful surprise for V-day last weekend. I got spoilt!! my partner surprised me with an intimate fine dining experience. the food was truly pieces of artwork each one tasted and LOOKED amazing!! I could have spent the whole night there waiting for more dishes. xx thanks for making my V-Day :)

I had a wonderful time dining with Culture Dining, I was pleasantly surprised by all the dishes. Most of the dishes I indulged in were vegetarian due to my health issues but I definitely wasn’t let down. My favourite dish was in the first course, chickpea purée which was deep fried. It was light and airy, creamy and a little salty; I absolutely loved it and still think about it.
My other favourite specially made dish (which isn’t pictured below) was the vegetable tempura with a specialty made sweet and sour sauce, the tempura itself was light and the dish focused on the taste of the vegetables. The sweet and sour sauce gave it a bit of tang and bite.
Again, am still thinking about it. Can’t wait to go back!

What an experience! All the food we had were amazing, it's hard to choose a favourite. We will definitely be coming back. Well done! 💗💗💗

Had our anniversary celebration here and it did not disappoint. Love that the menu changes constantly and the rebrand to match the direction they’re heading in.
Our host was great and we enjoyed the session with just one other couple.
If you’re not into a counter seating intimate experience it might not be for you, but the food is definitely worth a visit.

Chef Emmanuel is a legend and the lovely kitchen hand or assistant is sweet and wonderful. It was such an amazing experience and the food… I’m going to let the pictures do the talking. The flavours were balanced and on point. We loved every dish served. Everything was just exceptional. Love the ambience, the hospitality, the warmth and genuine service. Honestly, 10 stars. 👏🏼👏🏼❤️ My husband and I are definitely coming back with our friends and to enjoy Chef Emmanuel’s company again. 🏆🥇

What an incredible experience!
From the beginning (the homemade Kombucha) to the very end (the light, yet creamy dessert) every dish was delicious. To my surprise, the Korean butterfly adapts more Japanese inspired cuisine (combined with Italian flavors), with a hint of Korean taste. That being said, the flavors and textures were balanced, it was extremely tasty, and I would highly recommend eating here.
A taste of fine dine Japanese cuisine near you!
My favorite dish, was the seared duck and the pesto sabo with yuzu king fish.
Compliments to the Chef and staff at Korean Butterfly.
Thank you :)

What a cool experience and lovely dinner. They really went out of their way to make my partners birthday special. Food and service were exceptional!

Totally loved this experience! Amazingly varied menu. With only a small group per sitting (10 customers). Sitting and watching as they prepare each dish was fantastic. Talking to the chef's as they worked is a wonderful experience. Learning what they create and what flavours work and HOW they work with each dish. Beautifully presented food, great atmosphere with music from a record player certainly added charm.

What an amazing experience this night was! Chef Emmanuel and Adam were the absolute best. Amazing service and an amazing night overall.

My husband and I visited here for his birthday and we are absolutely satisfied.
In my personal opinion, it was the best quality of Japanese food in Brisbane as well as Korean food.
We both loved that the chef explained every single dish one by one, how to cook and which ingredients he used.
I think Korean style finding is rare in Australia so highly recommend to try here!

Like a butterfly, this restaurant is going through constant change to find a balance between Korean and Japanese flavours with the techniques in French and Italian flavours. In a global world and facing into the challenges of COVID it is refreshing to see this place fight to serve amazing food in Brisbane that is inspired from many sources. Butterfly has my full support and the food only gets better and more unique every time we return. Keep it up Emma!

Korean fusion food were beautifully presented, tasted delicious with high quality produce eg wagyu beef, Hokkaido scallops, salmon caviar.
Chefs were amazing, super talented and friendly, attentive staff.
Really impressed by the delivery and quality of the restaurant overall.
Only wish there were more seafood as main dishes on the menu. I understand menu were seasonal and created according to what's available on the day but there were more meat served (eg beef).
Was hoping for more seafood eg sashimi, abalone, lobster, squid, crab, sea urchin or octopus for the price we paid ($150 per person).
Anyway, still happy and we will return to try other dishes.

What a fantastic dinner that was! We throughly enjoyed the amazing and complex flavours the team put together.
It was also great to know they regularly update and innovate their menu which means next time we are back here the menu will be different!

What a way to kick off the new year! Booked a group lunch with friends here and had such an amazing omakase experience.
Thank you Chef Alex & team for being so passionate about your food & dining philosophy - it certainly shows in your flavours and artistry. We loved the intimate ambience and appreciated the curated selection of dishes, each one a delicious surprise! Looking forward to coming back again.
Great customer service, beautiful complex flavours, unique dining experience.

I’m very critical when you’re paying decent money for your food, $75 per head for a lunch is.
While everything was okay, nothing was spectacular. There was only one wow moment and it was the fresh wasabi. I was expecting a lot more. I think the attention of details was lacking, for example, the rice and the soup look were a bit untidy and messy.
The chef and the owner told me that dinner, which is $150 per head, will serve at least 11 dishes with much higher quality ingredients, completely different ball game to lunch. Perhaps I will go for a dinner and give it a second go.
Having said all that, I would still recommend people to go and give it a try. Korean omakase is uncommon in Australia and this restaurant has potential.
김.
When you go to this place, the chef's explanation of the food and fresh dishes are served.it was a fantastic dinner.
C. L.
We enjoyed our night at Korean butterfly immensely - the ingredients were fresh and treated well, the menu interesting, food was tasty. It was also entertaining to watch the chef prepare each course in front of us.
P. E.
Amazing food menu changes frequently but everything I had was delish.
Their lunch set menu is great value for money, and it actually includes a few drinks for $75.
The highlights of Korean Butterfly... mmm actually there are many many highlights... from the fruity welcome drink, organic infused lemongrass heated towels, amazing bread that they made in house, deep fried lamb sando, kim chi stew w pork soft bone, the marinated kingfish with Korean bean sauce, rice with marinated salmon and shaved bottarga.
As I mentioned, the menu changes frequently and the restaurant is new, so they are finding their feet menu-wise, but everyone from head chef to the sous chef and restaurant managers are so professional it was fantastic.
Other things to note: while they are ok with kids eating here (at the time of me writing this review), the kids have to eat the adult menu and pay the same price (ie raw fish, Kim chi etc). You are seated on the bar table and it’s a very adult setting. My four year old who really love trying new things quite enjoy it, but I felt a bit bad cos it’s actually the first time they served a child... they might change the rule after my kid 🤣 they were very very nice about it though.

Absolutely amazing, hands down the best sushi and creative korean food and twists on Japanese food.
I have not had sushi and sashimi this amazing and with the skill and finesse with the presentation outside of Japan. This combined with the amazing service and insight into the work that goes into selecting the ingredients and magic behind each dish and specific fish.
Best experience in Brisbane by far and will definitely be back.

Such a lovely addition to the Brisbane and Australian dining scene. Our local introduction to omakase. The passion of the chefs comes through in every course. We learnt so much during the meal.
Highlights included the homemade kombucha (which I normally do not like) the cured salmon, black cod dishes and the ginseng soup.
I can’t believe they’ve only been open 2 weeks! Definitely coming back to see how it develops. Also very reassuring to hear that the menu changes daily based in what’s available at the markets where the chefs spend the early mornings.
How lucky are we here!
D. L.
I had a dinner at this restaurant and it was a truly amazing experience.
They served foods with 'Omakase' style which is japanese style of dining, so i expected japanese foods would be served.
However the entire course was mainly focused on Korean cuisines and the chefs delicately combined Japanese, Italian and French tastes into the meals. The ingredients are picked and prepared daily by the chefs and once you try their meals, you will notice the quality and the delicasy.
The chefs have clear philosophy and you can see and feel it from their foods. All meals have simple ingredients which have bold flavours but surprisingly harmonized all togther on your tongue. Absolutely phenomenal!
Also they explained the story behind of meals and foods while they prepared meals in front of us, which was very entertaining and interesting. ( i.e. similarity and difference between Korean/Japanese and Italian/French cuisine.)
I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants to try delicately serving gourmet foods by Top class chefs, authentic yet modernized korean cuisine with joyful twists, and who appreciates the qulaity time not just 'eat fancy foods and go'.

We need more places like this in Brisbane !
Korean Butterfly has gone out on a limb to open up a different style of restaurant, Omakase style originally from Japan.
In designing a different course each day with new ingredients, the pair of chefs have the opportunity to demonstrate their cultivated arsenal of experiences.
Tonights course really appealed to my taste in light subtle flavours that are found in Japanese cuisine and it was interesting to see it combined with Korean ingredients and dishes.
They also served a wonderful kombucha !
Will revisit again for the good experience.

Finally Brisbane started to have Omakase!
Beautiful night, fantastic food, exclusive experience. Beautiful flavours, I have been missing this so much! #latenightseoul #smallalleywayinTokyo....
Very good amount too, I was getting pretty full by the end of the course.
D. K.
Korean butterfly was degustation food journey to different parts of the world as it’s a fusion of Japanese, Korean and French food created by Chef Emanuele!
Loved the overall experience of food preparation in front of us with fresh food produce and explanation of his elaborate food creation which just teleported us to Japan (but if you have been to Europe or South Korean then I am sure that you will be taken back to that place)
It’s a 5 star restaurant experience from customer service - food presentation - taste of food to the whole course filling up our stomach & soul! We will be back with a group of friends to experience your ever changing dynamic menu.
S. B.
A small, intimate dinner where the chef cooks for you and uses local ingredients to customise the menu. It looks like it wants to be high end but the piles of junk on the tables in the corner, blinding lights at the counter and no air con on a balmy Brisbane night didn't really give you that experience.
It was impossible to get water or wine refills without interrupting the chef and even when you did that it was 50/50 chance of getting a drink because there are no wait staff to assist while he was busy trying to get the dishes out.
None of us were particularly enamoured with the food, some of the dishes like the chicken soup and zucchini flower were really lovely but not $160 pp lovely.
We went as a group and I think this is more suited to couples. It was impossible to talk to anyone so I would suggest either booking all the seats or keeping your party small.
Korean Butterfly has potential but I would definitely not go back. We all left feeling unhappy with the price/experience which was a shame because the chef seemed really sweet and like he was giving it his all . I felt heartbroken for him when his fish fridge broke and fish spilled out all over the floor!

Amazing food, extraordinary vibes and great atmosphere. You go for the experience not to meet your palate, but you won't be disappointed.
L. H.
One of the best experiences we’ve had in Brisbane. The way that Alex cares about the food and the flavours is extraordinary. He explained each meal with intricate detail and care. Could not recommend more highly and cannot wait to go again.
Fav dish of the night was the cured mackerel with noodles and kimchi. The menu changes every day so you will never know what to expect, just like Japanese omakase, but we had a range of foods like abalone, sea urchin, tartare and obviously Korean kimchi! (Very simplified details of our meal in the captions, forgive me for not catching every detail)
Thanks Alex and team for such a wonderful date night. Cannot wait to see what you come up with next time.
J. Y.
Overall a lovely experience and atmosphere! The food was fantastic and nuanced. 10/10 would go again!

A butterfly still in its cocoon.
The food was really nice and the chef was very polite. Got to taste some flavours that my partner and I had never tasted before(few and far between) however, for the price that you pay it is not something that will satisfy your taste buds especially if you are a person who loves food. The bar was set very high especially after reading all the reviews however I was left wanting more, not in terms of the quantity of food offered, but in terms of the culinary experience.
W. P.
We had a wonderful first impression of this excellent new entry in the Brisbane foodie 'must do' restaurants. The intimate atmosphere and highly limited numbers makes for a very special event. The staff were skilled and highly attentive. There is no menu; Food comes to you at the Chef's whim, based on the best produce available on the day, and a lot of skill and imagination. Each visit is a new experience! Highly recommended if you like stepping outside the box.
j. m. c.
Still the best Asian-European fusion restaurant in Brisbane.
D. O.
I'm glad I had an experience that satisfied my senses of sight, smell and taste. Each dish of the Omakase was carefully thought of, its ingredient personally selected by the chef, wonderfully incorporated into a fine outcome and presented on artisan made beautiful China. Initial feeling of worry whether it would be worth $150 or not turned into immense satisfaction and joy that Brisbane has this restaurant. Can't wait to return to have another amazing experience.

My husband and I came here for our wedding anniversary tonight and it was so good that I have to rate them 5 stars immediately I got home! Alex and Emanuel were very knowledgeable in their profession and was able to provide a wonderful dining experience for us. I highly recommend coming here for a romantic meal or a fun night out. Will definitely come back for more!!!
D. P.
Very delicious food and high quality ingredient with excellent service. Cannot give 5 star considering as a girl, I was still hungry after dinner that was $150. I'm a food fantastic and eat at various fine dine restaurants and I can certainly confirm that for approx $150/head I am always full. I will go back in the future possibly but definitely not in a rush. I got a burger on the way home..... I was also shocked the the corkage price was literally $30. The dinner should have been $99/head based on my past experiences with degustation menu.

A truly unique experience in Brisbane. I had the pleasure of dining here tonight, and had a sushi omekase menu. Easily on par with some of the sushi I have had in Japan. Very personalized experience. As far as i know no one else is doing anything similar in Brisbane. I will be back again soon!
R. C.
A wonderful and memorable dining experience. One of the most exciting new restaurants in Brisbane in recent years. Delicious food, generous portions and great service. We will definitely be back!
J. M.
Had a great dinner session for my wife's birthday. Uncannily, 2 other couples were there for their partner's birthdays. The chefs entertained and shared their experiences and clearly showed where their passion lied. The food was grand. The home brewed Kombucha and the beef ''tartare'' dish were the stand outs for the night. Thank you guys for your welcoming ambience - we sure will be returning
L. D.
An absolute gem of a new place! So much care and attention in every dish. Uniquely Korean but with a modern interpretation. The rice and cheesecake were spectacular. We will definitely go back.
R. A.
Excellent service in beautiful place. The dishes were very creative and equally delicious. I recommend their lunch over dinner.
N. P.
Just had dinner here, the food was just AMAZING. Alex and Emanule delivered a fantastic experience. Was great to see how passionate Alex is about the resturant, his career and other chef's in the industry. Also his enthusiasm to introduce us to traditional Korean and Japanese food. This dinner was something my wife and I will always remember. We wish the best for Alex and Emanule and hope there dreams become a reality.
N.
absolutely sensational!! Fantastic to watch the creation of my incredible meal - definitely put this in your diary 🥂
L. K.
Delicious food, carefully constructed with a focus on fresh ingredients and house-made accompaniments. The chefs clearly care deeply about the quality of their food and their diners’ experience. We look forward to returning.

I went here with my partner on 1/1/2021 and it was a excellent fusion 'omakase' style meal to start the year. Can agree with all the other positive reviews and not much else to add onto them.
K. D.
Very nice, intimate restaurant. A great variety of dishes, exceptionally prepared. Highly recommended.
D. J.
Exceptional. Much higher standard than we are used to in Brisbane! Highly recommend. Great hosts, wonderful food. Very enjoyable evening.

Amazing experience at Korean Butterfly! Food was delicious and the chefs were lovely! Ginseng broth was the highlight for me.

Went for dinner service and while it was pricey, the quality of experience and food matched the bill. Have been to a number of 1 and 2 hat restaurants and these guys are just a level above.
E. L.
Best food and experience ever. Beats all other Japanese restaurants. Booked out for months but definitely worth the wait.

I was a bit surprised and disappointed that Chef Alex Kim is no where to be seen. No infomation on their website or social media. They should at least inform the fact..

(Translated) I went with high expectations and it was just as delicious as I expected. About 10 editions were served at dinner and we ate for almost two hours. It was enough to eat and I was a little full, so it's a good place to go on anniversaries or special days with good people. They were all very tasty, but to be called Korean omakase, it felt a bit fusion. I felt sick to my stomach because I ate the whole thing without any chili powder. Everyone is friendly and the serving people pour water or drinks if the glass is still empty. Sparkling, which I thought was free, was $7.
