Comments of Emily Yeoh Restaurant

I like how this simple restaurant serves the most delicious food. The food is on point and nostalgic. Emily on and off brings food out and greet you. She shares the “rationale” behind the dish and she is very considerate and friendly. I will surely come back again for the food and atmosphere. There was a little hiccup with my booking, as it didn’t show up in their system. But the person sorted that out very quickly.

The Peking Duck is a must-try if you're visiting. And if you're up for a good feed, go for one of Emily's banquet options, we chose the duck banquet which left us feeling full and satisfied! 😊

Quite disappointed with food when we went a few days back. We usually enjoy every dish every time we go. Since they added new dishes to their menu, we were so keen to try, especially the Moreton Bug Char Kuay Teow as it appeared really appealing on Instagram photos. However, it looked completely different as we received our dishes. Not only that, but all our main dishes were overly salty, it was hard to finish them (never used to be like this before).
On a positive note, the black bao was so soft and flavours blended in well together. Oysters were very fresh. The Xiao Long Bun and Spring Rolls maintained the same exceptional standard.

We arrived on time… table was not ready. Waited… finally got seated … outside. Noisy plus Music was quite loud.. very grateful that they turned it down a touch on request
Food was exceptionally delicious. We ordered 2 different dishes with duck … but it was same duck … one in curry sauce n one without… tasty yet bit disappointing …dumplings were 👍🏼
Could do with freshening up with decor n ambiance overall.. especially the outdoor setting

A foodie meetup calls for some fine food and MasterChef level eats fills the brief. I still don’t fully get why some places mandate larger groups to go on (much more expensive) banquet menus but thankfully this place has the option to pre-order from the normal menu, and so the 9 of us shared:
* EFC! Emily’s Fried Chicken Wings (5), $12 - EY’s house batter & chilli dust
* Salted egg yolk prawns, $18 - served with fried curry leaves & fresh chilli
* EY mum's secret recipe Hainan chicken, $22 - gently poached boneless chicken served with soy, ginger shallot & fresh cucumber
* Queensland Angus beef satay, $30 - Malaysian style satay beef cubes
* Emily Yeoh's house roasted duck and lychee red curry, $35 - marinated duck, roasted then served with lychee and house made red curry sauce
* stir fried Asian green, $18 - wok fried seasonal Asian greens
* Emily's special combination fried rice, $25 - Emily's mix of char xiu pork, prawn, eggs & spring onion
* Hainan chicken rice, $5 - Jasmine rice cooked in chicken stock, ginger, fresh pandan, butter & lemongrass
We had multiples of each item to ensure there was sufficient to go around. Despite arranging the pre-order in writing, there were some issues on the night. All up our meal worked out to just under $32 per head for the food component, and I reckon we had as good a spread (if not better) compared to the lowest priced banquet option at $55 per head.
Speaking of the dishes, I was really keen on the Hainan chicken and the duck curry, but the dish I ended up liking the most was the satay. The Hainan chicken was good, but perhaps because I've had plenty of this elsewhere (including my wife's version) it wasn't outstanding. The duck curry did leave me wanting more, though more for the curry itself than the duck.
I didn't watch the season of MasterChef Australia where Emily was a contestant, so wasn't all that familiar with her food. But the Malaysian connection was enough to draw me for a visit. Overall I enjoyed the flavour of all the food, and would be keen to return for a lunch laksa sometime.

It was a great experience for my friend and I. The dishes were amazing and so delicious. Staffs were so friendly and helpful. Surely will go back to try other dishes.

Where to start? 🤩 Everything from the beginning to the end was absolutely fantastic. Every dish served from entrees to the mains to desserts - nothing was compromised. Every dish that came out was 10/10. We just wanted more. The flavors of each dish was balanced and on point. We could taste and tell that a lot of thought went into each plate. And we really appreciated that effort and passion that goes into it. Nothing was over cooked or under represented. Everything served on the table was perfect. We will come back again because with that amazing experience and lovely service from Emily Yeoh, it really is worth it. 🥰❤️

Had a really delicious dim sum brunch here today. Beautifully crafted colourful morsels of har gow, siew mai, xiao long bars, and many more. Even took home some char siu puff pastry for later. So many delicious items on the menu, will definitely have to go back to try them. Attentive and efficient service too. 👍
T. N.
The 3-course lobster menu was of great value. The laksa with lobster was delicious, only wish the lobster was poached instead of deep dried.
The chili lobster was good too, just a little too sweet for us 🦞
Loved the pandan pannacotta.
Service was great, ver friendly and attentive.
Overall, happy and will return to try other dishes.

Mediocre food. The pork in the Xiu Mai dish was raw. We cut open to feed kids and the meat was still pink inside. Food in general is not good, prawn dish is too sweet, hainanese chicken is flavourless, fried rice tasted like the chef has forgotten to season the dish.
However, when we spoke to the staff about the xiu mai dish, they acted promptly to the issue. Staff took note of our contact details and sent us incident report of the uncooked meat. This has made me turn my experience. Their outstanding customer service is definitely worth a compliment!

We had the BEST evening last night at Emily Yeoh in Paddington. Our waiter Sebastian was so lovely & humorous. The outside courtyard is well presented, spacious and is a great setting for large groups/parties. The food was next level , we’ll definitely be back. Thank you 🙏🏼 for a fantastic evening and for the delicious food. 10/10 🙌🏻 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Heard so much about the former Master Chef opening up her restaurant in Paddington, we had to give it a try. The Singapore Chilli crabs looked so tempting in the instagram photos, so we called up to book a table and order 2 crabs 😍🤭😍🥰
.
O M G they were super delicious 🤤🤤 Full of meat, super fresh and amazingly tasty - these crabs were cooked with care and to perfection. The Singapore chili sauce had a subtle sweetness to it. The deep fried mantou was perfect to soak and mop it all up 👌🏼👌🏼
.
We also got an entree of the Vegetarian Spring rolls, which had a nice crispy outside and a soft yummy inside. Aaand as of that wasn't already enough, I couldn't resist ordering the Char Siu when i saw it on the menu. Full of smokey flavor and a sweet honey glaze, i totally loved it even though portion was a tad on the smaller size 👍🏼👍🏼
.
Friendly staff, combined with a nice ambience no matter whether you sit inside or out - I can't recommend this place enough if you're in the Paddington area 😊
L. H.
Absolutely delicious! A lot of gluten free options that aren’t mentioned on the menu.
We got the prawns, pork belly, the mama chicken, chicken wings and some
Dumplings.
The prawns were deep fried and then cooked in a curry sauce. They were quite hard to eat.
S. G.
Food was decent. A few of the dishes were hits but there were a few misses.
The roast pork was good, hardly worth $28 for the dish though.
Had the chicken and hainanese rice, rice didn’t have too much flavour. The chicken was okay. Vegetarian noodles were pretty good but was packed full of onions.
Overall wasn’t too bad but definitely was overpriced for what you got
L. Y.
Had their flight to Japan brunch and was disappointed. The food was very mediocre. Karaage was greasy , salmon tasted very average but presented poorly. I didn't feel like I had gone to Japan at all. Would not recommend. It's better to go to a Cafe.
G. M.
Lovely restaurant with perfect lights and decor that makes the environment relaxing and pleasant. The food was fantastic, the flavours were defined and rich. The steam prawn Har Gao was the best by far (we repeated), same as the Char Xiu fried rice. Lost a star on the love letters (a bit grease) and the crispy pork belly (wasn't that crispy). However it is definitely a place to visit, definitely a place to return.
T. V.
Excellent food, friendly relaxed staff. An overused term but this is a hidden gem in the city fringe. Well curated wine list with an impressive selection available by the glass. Very reasonable prices for both food and drinks. The Black bug bao was a stand out dish. If you haven't been yet, come here just for that one dish!
An additional delight was a visit to the table by Emily herself, and she delighted us with a run through of the desert dishes we were having.
An excellent dinner, a great restaurant.
G. M.
Great food, I would fill a pool with that chili sauce. Oysters were light and bright, dessert was so good I didn't even have time to take a photo. It was my Mum's birthday and the host gave her an absolutely stunning candle as a gift. It's safe to say we were in shock! Never have I been to a restaurant where they give the birthday person a GIFT! Incredible food, incredible people, thank you very much!
E. Y.
Amazing value for a Tuesday 3 course lobster special. Fresh lobsters and the panna cotta was smooth and flavoursome, though on the sweeter side for my personal taste.
D. R.
Really nice restaurant, friendly and knowledgeable staff and the food was amazing..well done guys!! Sorry started eating before I took the pictures🤣

Finally, a delicious Chinese restaurant North side of the city!
My partner and I had dinner here on Saturday and were blown away with how incredible the food was. We started with 2 appetizers; duck spring rolls and Gold Coast prawn and pork siu mai. Both were outstanding but the siu mai was my favorite (and some of the best I've had) as it was served with a delicious house made spicy mala sauce that was the perfect compliment. For our mains, we got the lychee duck red curry and Chinese BBQ pork (char siu). The duck was a winner; juicy with crispy skin, and my partner, who normally isn't even fussed on BBQ pork, loved it as it had a subtle, smokey flavor that paired perfectly with the honey glaze and black garlic. The portions were more than generous and it reminded me of traditional, Chinese food that I often had when visiting Hong Kong.

First time ordering takeaway from Emily Yeoh Restaurant at Paddington Brisbane and I am impressed with the quality of the food. I ordered Hainan Chicken and Chicken Rice as well as the Emily Yeoh's Fried Chicken. There are something special about the spice that is just right plus the chicken is very tender. SO I basically tried both the steam and the friend chicken (Different end of the spectrum) and I am impressed! A magically touch in food by Masterchef Emily Yeoh! Well done! I will come more often!

Extremely recommended if you are interested in asian cousins
Grandmas puff pastry stuffed with bbq pork was the best appetizer
The best main was definitely duck

If you are reading this, you need to 100% try Emily's Singapore chilli crab. Her sauce is soo addictive. She needs to sell it in a bottle *hint hint*. Her roast duck is also super yummy. Also heard rave reviews about her Hainan chicken. Next on my to try list.

The food was absolutely amazing! The black bug bao was to die for. And, the laksa fried rice was so flavourful with a perfect level of spice. On top of that, our server, Ivan was very lovely. He catered to our needs and went above and beyond to make sure everything was going well. My one let down was the service of the other servers. We had a booking for 7:30 and were on time but were ignored twice before a waitress checked us in. She then told us she needed to clean the table beforehand and we watched as she wiped food off the table and onto the chairs and floor. I still would come again because Ivan provided us with such good service and the quality of the food was amazing 😊
l. w. Y.
Overall food was great, especially to the laksa broth. However, both my friend and I felt utterly disappointed on the customer service provided by the waitress and waiter in restaurant , which left us with a sour taste.
The waitress (we later were told she was under training) who made our order was lacking of basic customer service manner and also mucked up the food order. When we asked for the Pacific oyster dish, she did not know the dish, even after getting back from the kitchen she could not provide much information. When we clarified with her if the oyster comes with toppings and her replied was the oyster comes in shell. Then we just gave up asking, instead we had to look it up ourselves.
We ordered half dozen of Pacific oyster, a crab& prawn xiao long bao , shao xing chicken with a serve of rice, then a laksa- From the Sea and 2 mocktails. We had even double confirmed with her the noodles for laksa we wanted and pointed at the menu for toothfish as protein choice. Yet, our laksa served out in a completely opposite choice. Though it was replaced promptly after.
The Laksa comes with a soft drink but that wasn't served to us until we asked for it. Not to mention the rice and the xiao long bao we ordered, both order were not placed. When we were half way through finishing our main, the xiao long bao was still not served. We asked to check the order and was informed that order was not placed. We had to cancel it due to the whole experience.
We had to constantly asked and prompted for our order. It was distressing. We expressed our disappointment throughout the dinning experience. Emily later came to our table. She apologised and offered us a complimentary dessert. However, not a single apology received from the waitress who messed up our dining experience.
Emily later informed that the waitress was in training and unfamiliar with the menu. Hence the mistake was made. We accepted people make mistake. However, we explained that a wait staff should have a basic customer service manner including repeat or clarify the order if unsure and provide proactive service which she did not.
Not a very pleasant dining experience we have had. We will not return for awhile. Hope to see some changes until our next visit.

My mind was absolutely blown yesterday by the amazing flavours of food and food presentation. The service was also absolute quality - the staff genuinely wanting you to enjoy your experience!
Thank you for the wonderful time!!

Really yum restaurant in Paddington. This place has great dumplings and the vegetarian curry is really good as well.
S. Z.
Amazing dishes, love the Hainan chicken, slow cook beef short rib and curry duck
W. J.
We had a birthday celebration dinner at this lovely restaurant. The staff were very attentive and helped us adjust the cocktail on the menu. Our fav dish of the night was the boneless duck curry. Would love to revisit again to try more dishes.
T.
Great service and delicious food. Can't wait to come back!
X. W.
Food presentation was great, however the food itself was mediocre despite the ingredients (fish, bugs and etc) were good quality. Service overall was good but there was one lady that seemed not there and not ready to help.
B. X.
It was a fabulous dining there. Friendly staffs and gorgeous meals. Definitely would have encore again.

We finally made it to Emily Yeoh's after many months of talking about it. It did not disappoint. The food was delicious and quite generous for this level of restaurant. The service was great - our pork was over and they happily agreed and quickly replaced the dish. The wine list had some really interesting bottles. We sat next to the kitchen but it was not all loud. For a Tuesday night it was quite busy, which just shows how good a place this is. One thing to note is there is a Tuesday special which, while we didn't order it, looked amazing.
J. B.
Hands down some of the best Asian cuisine in Brisbane. The flavours are mind-blowingly authentic and will truly warm the soul.
Worth a trip to Paddington for dine-in or takeaway.
Try the funky prawn dumplings or the delicious, crispy pork bun pastries!
I. W.
It’s great I like it here are the drink (refresh mint)is very fresh and minty. Food are delicious.
K. G.
Lovely experience! Tasty food - reasonable price. Wish we have more item on Menu.
A. B.
Friendly staff and efficient service. The food presented beautifully, was very good and I will go back. It can get quite loud with larger groups nearby in the tiled outdoor area and the space could use renovating so more of a casual dining out option.
I. L.
Absolutely delicious!Every dish! We just had our staff Christmas dinner at Emily Yeoh, everyone was blown away by the master chef quality of the food. All the dim sum are fresh made, and absolutely classic! Beef ribs is superb! All the staff are friendly. We really enjoyed the whole night there. Thank you!
B. I. d.
We have been waiting to try this restaurant since it opened. As locals we are always excited to have new options.
The food was good but not outstanding. Entrees were good. The dumplings were fresh and tasty. The red duck curry and the Beef Rendang seemed to have the same sauce! Rice arrived well after the curry.
Desserts were good. Service was hit and miss.
S. C.
Fabulous food! Table service was a let down - entrees were served at randomly different times, forgot our main course rice side dish. Wait staff seemed disinterested & lacked basic interpersonal skills.
They did try to make up for the shortfalls with complimentary champagne & didn't charge us for the rice.
Won't be going back.
S. W.
Have been here regularly now since opening and still just love every dish that has been served. Salted egg prawns is just amazing and the beef satay and fried noodles with shredded duck are just so tasty. Love going here.
A.
Quite a nice night out although I can’t say the meal was quite as good as I was expecting considering how hard it is to get a reservation and the prices charged. Never seen such a ridiculous price for corkage but I guess that’s how they get you to buy their wine. Overall a pleasant experience but don’t think I’ll be back.
Y. R.
One of the better Asian-fusion restaurants in Brisbane. A new hidden gem in the suburbs, with word of mouth will become a Brisbane hit soon.
Every meal we had was delicious, including entrees love letters, prawn dumplings and chicken wings. For mains we had the lobster Singapore chili style, crispy pork belly and duck red curry. The lobster and pork belly were top class, but the duck curry was a bit underwhelming especially compared to every other dish we had. Its byo as well, although $8 corkage per person.
All in all, highly recommended and will definitely be coming back.
S. T.
Best Chinese food ever. Service was A1 and atmosphere warm. Strongly recommended.
J. K.
I will just say it as it is. This is the best restaurant in Brisbane. Meets every need - casual and high brow, kids/adults, indoor/outdoor and such great (truly great) food. I’d give more stars if I could!
T. W.
Overall a good experience! Came here to have a lovely dinner with friends, service was great, food was overall good too!
We started with the Steamed Pork and Scallop Xiu Mai, Love Letter and Salt and Pepper Tofu and had the Duck & Lychee Curry and Fried Egg Noodle Vegetarian Style (with Shredded Duck) as mains. The Xiu Mai, Salt and Pepper Tofu and Duck & Lychee Curry were definitely the highlights of the dinner. There were a few things I'd like to bring up that "costed" the extra star.
From experience, I don't believe the oil in the deep fryer is particularly "fresh". If the oil was fresh, I believe the deep fried goods (i.e. Love Letter) would be more of a "golden" colour rather than a darker brown and with a touch of burnt discolouration. While this did not affect the taste of the actual dish (it was still very nice), it definitely lost points in presentation for us.
As for the Fried Egg Noodle Vegetarian Style (with Shredded Duck), this was definitely way beyond overpriced for what it was. It is technically a variation of the "Supreme Soy Sauce Fried Noodles" you order from your local Chinese Restaurants but without any chives or fresh shallots (normally key ingredients). Also normally the "cheapest" noodle dish on menus. I just couldn't justify the price I paid for the very average variation of the so sauce noodles (with likely leftover shredded duck meat). I would've hoped for more a egg noodle dish with actual vegetables for that price point. By far a lowlight of the dinner.
I hope this feedback is read and fed through into the kitchen staff!
Thanks for the meal!
E.
Got takeaway and it was delicious, reasonably priced, and had massive portions. We ordered the lychee duck curry, hainanese chicken rice and glutinous rice dumplings and all 3 were outstanding. Really loved the rest of the menu too, wish I could try all of it.
S. G.
Fresh, distinctly flavoursome food. The Duck curry was a standout. Edamame entree worth the try - tasty!
Please upgrade from thin paper napkins to meet the food experience.
We will be back.
A.
Great service, great food! Try the ribs and the deep fried panang ice cream for dessert, amazing!
D. D.
My second visit to this upmarket restaurant. Again the inexperienced waitstaff disappointed the meal. Thumbs on plates when serving. Reaching across patrons when the staff member could have walked closer. Water not being topped up regularly. "I was told I had to leave these." - when collecting entree plates, leaving cutlery. "Are yous (ewes) ready for your main course."
K. N.
One of my favourite restaurants in Paddington! I love the food and the amazing team! Their lychee red duck curry is my favourite and I will continue to keep coming back! :D
H. K.
Had a lovely meal here. Food is yums! Service is acceptable.
W. A.
We felt like yum cha today, so we ordered 4 entres.... Yum! I know that it's still early days, but it would be good if you could post your full menu on your website. Also,we thought that you could use some big pot plants in the outside dinning area. (Or something....)
M. V.
We went with a large group and had the banquet option. Pretty good food. Not amazing. Seemed to be trying too hard to impress with some of the dishes.
Good night though, with really good service.
P. F.
Wow, we barely made it past the entrees, and each was fabulous. In the wasteland of the Paddington high street this oasis deserves to not just survive but to be booked out. Good service, interesting variety, lovely textures, can’t wait to go back, maybe the Yum Cha...
S. S.
Impressive flavours, nice ambience and prompt, courteous service.
J. L.
We had a great dinner! We booked for a large group which can often be hard with splitting the bill but they made it really easy and we could all pay separately. The food was amazing!!! Never disappointed!
R. M.
Great to go somewhere where it's hard to choose your meal. Not because you can't find something you like, but because you can't narrow it down. Everything is amazing!
D. O.
Lovely dinner and great atmosphere. All the food we had was done perfectly. Nice menu options. Prices were reasonable even for alcohol. Will definitely be back to try the rest of the menu.

My family and I enjoyed a lovely meal at Emily Yeoh. Everything we ordered was delicious, the waitstaff were attentive and friendly, and the setting was relaxed and comfortable. Highly recommend, will definitely return!

Great food, excellent service, the entrees in particular are outstanding and the Singapore chilli crab and roast duck should not be missed. Also the best prawn toast in the universe.
J. D.
First visit very good service , delicious foods! Definitely come back try other dishes

It was an Epic Private Dining Experience at Emily Yeoh. 🤩Delectable food, contemporary decor, great ambience and friendly service! Every dishes was exquisite and so delicious ! 😋It’s so difficult to just pick one favorite dish of the night...so I had a few that I must recommend 👍🏻
(1) The perfectly cooked “Signature Roast Duck” was divine !👌🏻The skin has a beautiful colour and lovely crisp. The meat was tender and non greasy at all! It was like eating the best of both world ...Asian French fusion roast duck . 🌟It was sooo good! 😋😋😋
(2) “Red Lychee Curry Roast Duck” packed with bags of flavour is a must try. It has the best of 2 Emily’s signature in one dish. The roast duck and her famous curry was to die for. 🤤The aroma of this dish was already hard to resist and each mouthful of the creamy and intense taste of the red lychee curry was in heaven!🥰 I
(3)”Black Garlic Glaze Coal Smoked Char Siu “ was a bit different to our traditional bbq pork but the black garlic glaze just elevated it to a different level and I love that subtle char flavour on my palate ❤️
(4) “House Cured Smoke Salmon With Avocado Purée” A very refreshing Entrée and perfectly balanced dish. I am sure you will crave for more and I did😅
Also , make sure you try the dim sum tasting plate and the Hainan chicken they’re all addictive and freshly made! I was very satisfied!
J. P. P.
I had dinner here on a week day. What a pleasant surprise. The service was fantastic. Food delicious. Good value. The only comment with be need a larger menu. Not enough selections for me.
O. T.
Great restaurant. The duck spring rolls, cured salmon and duck in lychee curry were stand outs. Prices are good. Entrees $12 and mains $25-$35. Will go again.
J. M.
Such a great addition to Paddington 4064....last night's dinner was a taste sensation..so hard to choose.. and the service seamless..definitely recommend and love that BYO is optional at just $8 per head..
B. S.
Great venue, we opted to BYO and found the service and food to be fantastic. The duck and lychee curry was a stand out. Will defintely be back.
A. M.
The food here is excellent. Thanks Emily Yeoh for a great experience and the best meal I've eaten all year.

Don't let any of the lower ratings deter you. One of the best restaurants in Brisbane! If you love and appreciate high quality food then this is the place for you! Thank you team Emily Yeoh.

The food is pretty amazing here ! It was a bit hot during QLD weather but i guess it perfectly simulated Malaysia ! Would go back and back again !

Great food. Reasonably priced. We got a mix and shared. Good sized portions. Definitely will be back.

I recently went to this restaurant with my family and the food, staff, service and atmosphere were great! we all enjoyed ourselves and left happy and full.

What a great place. Great food, lots of space and most importantly child friendly.
Who wold've thought "fine dining" that's child friendly?!
H. A.
Fantastic lunch menu.. good service... the chicken rice is just like being in Singapore!
M. C.
The flavors were great but meat ingredients were a bit tough or over cooked, atmosphere was good

Long term favourite place! Including Emily's Garden cocktail:)

(Translated) It is said that it is a newly opened restaurant. I ate a few ordinary sliced dishes. The taste is good for the general public. I did not taste the special taste. The price is slightly higher. It may not be easy to attract me to make a special purchase in the past.
