We celebrated our work Christmas dinner here and had the banquet menu. The food was average. Grilled prawns were very chewy and overcooked, the serving of dips with pita bread ratio was not even (there was heaps of dips leftover and not enough pita bread to have for dips) lamb was good and fish was okay. Although, cocktails were amazing, It just takes time to order one so make sure to order one right away even you’re just halfway through your current glass. Service was good though! Definitely a place for drinks and socials!

Impressive dining experience from top to bottom. The service staff were friendly and attentive. The food was incredibly delicious and the ambiance was wonderful. The dishes were brought out with a lovely display and spot on temperatures. Literally could not fault a single thing about this dining experience. Very keen to repeat!

Overhyped and overpriced. Chewy, overcooked octopus, the whitebait was soggy and fishy. Chips were disappointing too, like something you'd get from any takeaway store. The lamb and saganaki (highly unlikely they make this from scratch so it's not like they can screw this up) was good, but not worth the money. We only ate here because four other places we tried to get into earlier were fully booked, and I can see why.

We popped in for a drink and ended up having a quick bite. Duck liver with oyster mushroom, grilled octopus and also their green bean salad - amazing!! Flavors, taste, quality was brilliant. Putting this aside, the restaurant itself is beautiful, great vibes, cool tones. Felt like I was back in Monaco, very southern France! Customer service was also very welcoming. Came here for brunch and the place was lovely. It’s packed right away. I love how they print the menu by the day because the date is written on it. Food was great but the service was a bit slow on that day which is understandable because it was busy. Great place to try and the staff were lovely

Where to begin - the cocktails are amazing and the food is stunning (you won’t go home feeling hungry that’s for sure!) The lamb was the best part but also the last course of the buffet menu.. make sure you leave enough room for it! The bar staff are absolutely run off their feet and my one criticism would be that drinks took about 30minutes (forever!!) to arrive. I’d recommend ordering another when your last order comes to the table! A great experience overall

Incredible! The food was THE BEST! We had the classic banquet which felt like about 23 courses. The food was divine but also in large share size portions. Amazing cocktails. Staff are always so friendly and helpful, while not doting on us excessively, just the perfect amount. Beautiful decor. Actually quite reasonably priced (approx $85 per head to eat like kings) considering the quality of food and drinks, decor, service, and overall experience. Would give it more than 5 stars if I could. Highly recommended!

This place serves simple but PERFECT delicious meals. There are no weird and experimental items at all which suits me just fine. I had the lamb shoulder for a main and it was easily one of the best meals I’ve had in Brisbane. I will definitely be back for more. 3.5 stars - restaurant has nice ambiance and atmosphere as well as friendly service. The food however was quite overpowering with flavours that we couldn't finish any of the meals except for oysters. We tried the: ♡ grilled lamb ribs - meat was tender and falls off the bone easily. Some parts were dry but flavouring is nice but it does get quite salty ♡ Orzo pasta w/ spanner crab - super salty and there's not a lot of crab in it. Dish has nice texture tho

My husband immigrated from Greece and we have spent a lot of time in Greece together over the years. This is the first restaurant in Brisbane that he (and myself) were impressed with the quality of the Greek food. If you closed your eyes you truly could believe you were in a good restaurant in Greece. Special mention to the Horta which is impossible to find here In Australia but they’ve managed to replicate it seamlessly. Service was also impeccable. Cannot speak highly enough of the staff! Great selection of ouzo served with plenty of ice which is definitely a must when eating all of that oily food. Love the fact that they had half serves as well which was perfect for hubby and I. We got to try more food! Worth every cent and will definitely return.

I really liked the environment and the seating, and for a few short moments the decor made me feel like I was having a vacation in a foreign country. The service was very good. However the food was a bit too salty... Especially the rabbit. The zucchini chips were yummy but too oily... There was literally a pool of oil in the bowl.

To be frank, if I pay nearly $100 for a small-serve banquet, I expect the food to be memorably good and it was no better than I would create at home. Where to start, even after a mess up with our booking, the host didn't hesitate to give us drinks on the house. We were then seated by the pool which was relaxing as the music is soft and the mood is good. After ordering our meals they were served promptly, so promptly that most of the times I forgot to take pictures of the dishes. It probably didn't help that the food was delicious and smelt so good, just like home. If you're expecting traditional Greek food, you'll definitely be satisfied. The dishes hold the traditional Greek taste with a slight twist that melts in your mouth er'rytime!

Hellenika is located on the first floor of the Calile and has a simple, modern Greek decor. The menu is likewise simple, traditional Greek food, but quite tasty. I don't here for breakfast and was impressed by the flavours. They have some well priced breakfast options but note that the other half of the menu is on the expensive side for a breakfast dish. Staff were friendly and informed us upfront that we'd need to vacate the table at a certain time. The standout for us was the spanokopita - delicious and just the right size for breakfast.

Food Quality: 5 Stars Service: 5 Stars Atmosphere: 5 Stars Phenomanal dining experience that goes above expectations in all areas. Food is devine, and has flavour that makes you close your eyes and sit back in your chair as you explore every bite. I would recommend the seafood banquet, where they will bring out several courses one after the other taking you on a Greek journey and giving you plenty of time to pace yourself and enjoy the night. Service is unparalleled, they will attend to everything timely and with a smile. It is apparent that this is important to them as they have an abundance of wait staff who move quickly through the venue and are all well trained to be friendly and attentive. The amount of greetings we received from when we arrived at the front desk to when we were taken to our tables was more than I'd heard all week. They all love to give a great experience and it's clear management has trained this in well. The venue is gorgeous. It's very top-shelf, no expense spared. There is a pool just outside the restaurant, presumably for the guests of the hotel, but it does add a sense of vacation to the whole experience, as if you can leave everything behind you on the way in and just focus on enjoying the night.

Wowzaaa. Was able to get a last minute table for Friday lunch and it was a very fancy and fulfilling afternoon! (I was very full). Got the basic banquet ($68) and it was nice. Not sure if completely worth the price... but you’re definitely stuffed after as the other review says there can be a bit of a wait between courses but I guess they’re still getting in the swing/ very busy. Food was yum, basic traditional Greek- nothing super special. Beautiful new space and decor, more of a social scene experience than one of outstanding food.

Beautiful decor and a nice atmosphere, overall felt very opulent. Overall the staff were friendly and attentive. The food came out efficiently and serving sizes were reasonable. We had 3 smaller dishes and 1 large dish and this was more than enough for 2 people. The commentary soup appetiser was amazing and packed with flavour. The taramasalata was enjoyable, and the saganaki was pleasant, although would have been more impressive if it came out streaming hot. The Moussaka looked delicious and was tasty. The spicy sausage was the only dish I didn't really enjoy. I'd visit again to try a few of the other dishes.

We were soon seated on the pool deck with cold water while we checked the menus The Fresh Fish Market menu had a good range of species and preparation styles. We ordered the raw Kingfish [$28], a generous serve of exquisite fish Next, we settled on grilled Kalamari [$34] with a half-serve of Marouli [$14] - baby gem lettuce with kefalotiri cheese - great combination - tasty squid with a light smokiness from the grill and a delicately-dressed, crunchy salad Wonderful food, drinks and service!

The food was excellent and in very large portions on the Banquet. Service ok. The cocktails are extremely poor in comparison to other restaurants/bars that should provide premium cocktails. Dr Gimlets for example, charges equal prices for cocktails that are much better. If I could rate the cocktails a 2.5-3 I would do so. Are 4 - 5 rating overall is probably fair but in fact if the drinks were considered, it would be lower. I’d think that Hellenika would be aiming higher than a 4

The 2018 Ktima Gerovassiliou malagousia wine was also exceptional. The staff are also really great. Finally if you have the opportunity, eat beside the pool. It is a great experience. This restaurant comes recommended!

I really quite liked the relaxed and modern fit out of the restaurant minus the staff uniform. What’s with the cheap pink blazer? It’s in the middle of summer, you don’t need to wear a blazer. I feel sorry for staff. As for the food- it was lovely and simple. Maybe a bit too simple (photo of the watermelon dessert). Service was great though so we tipped our waiter of course.

I took my girlfriend there on Sunday night for dinner. It was really nice and relaxing sitting by the pool side. We had 300g ocean trout with salata me fasolakia salad, and ceviche daily special. Each dish tasted so amazing. However, the serving size was really small. For dessert, we had traditional Greek dessert Galaktoboureko. It was really good. I highly recommend that dessert.

Dinner by the pool on a cool Spring evening was the highlight, Dj playing upbeat music in the background set the ambience for a relaxing time. The food was enjoyable and tasty, the baked feta and red pepper dish delighted the taste buds and washed down with our cocktails Santorini Sling. I gave 4 stars only on the basis that the out door seating (slatted chairs) where very uncomfortable and by the end of the night we could not wait to get up and go for a walk. Never had a bad meal or experience. This is one of our go-to spots, and luckily for us it’s local! Definitely try the grilled octopus, the Greek salad is always fresh, and the spanikopita and souvlakia are spot on. The owner is also lovely, as are the staff!

A respectable establishment for all the right reasons. Hellenika at the Calile provides exquisite food accompanied by a California-esc atmosphere. The staff welcome you with open arms and make you feel right at home, providing you with samples of food prior to you ordering. On the specific night that I went, I was offered with a lemon and fish soup, delightfully strong and palette cleansing. You are assigned a personal waiter to attend to your table, providing a personable experience. The food, especially the fish, was rich with flavour. The fish specifically melted in your mouth, demonstrating the attention to detail in the all encompassing cooking process. As for the rest of the food, it was much the same, exhibiting Greek culture with a slight modern, superlative twist. Unfortunately, by no mistake of anyone specific, my reusable mask was removed from my table, obviously resembling a rag or napkin of sorts, with these provisions being replaced throughout the night. This led me to being mask less upon exiting the restaurant, which was against public health directives as of writing this review, although this hiccup wasn't detrimental to my stay. However, I digress, the overall experience was superior to most restaurants in Brisbane and I will definitely be attending again.

Lovely place to have a Thursday night dinner. Went with my wife on our weekly date night. Amazing food, maybe a bit too hip for some people with the average age spread between 18 and 55. The staff wearing pink blazer look professional yet trendy and theyre very attentive and warm. it was busy and it can be a great place for you if you dont mind the close spacing between tables . since the table is in a relative small space , it can be a bit loud with all the talking but it's okay. I love the vibe. the bathroom is so clean and well-kept plus the food is very tasty. Waiting isnt too long and the staff is constantly refilling your glass with water. price is mid range to expensive but it's worth it. Should you have food allergy and diet specifications, theyd be happy to listen and help you with your suggestion . they even gave us a complimentary greek soup and we thought it was nice considering we went to a busy time on a Sunday . I love "people watching " in this place too because the patrons and customers are very chic ♥️

Upon arrival the restaurant is gorgeous, feels high end while being affordable. The food was delicious, me and my partner struggled to decide what to eat because it all sounded good. Nice restaurant, but mostly overpriced, I wanted to have a fish dish, but I’m not prepared to pay $60 for a single dish, Some were even more. So I opted for the lamb shoulder special $35, which was okay, but nothing special, also vegetables were needed, another $10. My friend had the vegetable pie which was very nice. The dessert was nice but nothing special. The service was good, an inside table was nothing special, outside seemed much nicer.

The service started off fantastic but sad to say went downhill from here. We were asked to pay our bill at around 1030 and hadn't even finished our drinks. We thought they must of been closing and when one of the guests that was with us asked her response was no we close late but try to clear the area around the pool. My partner and I both thought Hellenika was only okay. Our opinion weighs up the flavour, portions, service and cost. We were pretty unimpressed with the flavour of our two large plates, especially the $48 bug spaghetti, though the portions were good. We found the bug dish was mediocre at best. When I gave the waiter my honest feedback, he kind of shrugged and said “you should’ve gone with my suggestions”. Be that as it may, I think all meals should be meticulously created to be delicious and titillating at a restaurant of this supposed caliber. We did enjoy our dessert. But unfortunately, we think we were paying for the location/ prestige than the actual dining experience. The atmosphere inside is lovely and its elegant and the ladies at the front were very helpful. However, the rest of our experience was only okay, and actually subpar when it came to the waiter, who also forgot my partners wine (which he ordered well before my flavourless cocktail that I didn’t finish), and then they tried to charge us for a bottle of wine instead of just a glass.

Absolutely love this restaurant. Is a great asset to the Brisbane food scene. The service is impeccable, food is totally delicious and ambience excellent. A couple of favorite menu items - blue eye trevalla with w caramelized onion, tomato, olives & capers was the best fish I have even eaten. Must also order a side of zucchini chips! Very addictive and delicious. Only downside is the place is so busy the tables are turned over quickly and you need to leave before you are ready to accommodate the next patrons. If you have room left after a yummy dinner, highly recommend Gelato Messina next door for dessert.

Recently dined with a small group of friends based on a recommendation and was not disappointed. Atmosphere was lively and warm with good service and the food was excellent. Given the huge number of options on the menu, we opted for the standard banquet menu which I can highly recommend. Highlights being the lamb shoulder, calamari, the dips and the dessert. Unless you are after a quieter atmosphere for a business dinner, I’d definitely recommend Hellenika.

This place has an awesome vibe, just very aesthetic and a great atmosphere. Service was also very good and food came out pretty fast. For the food, we got the welcome banquet and I would highly recommend it, especially the lame and potato dish, and the baked cheese thing was heavenly. Also the sauces and dips that came out with everything were also amazing. The cost of the banquet is a little dear but about what you'd expect for the quality. Portion sizes were decent, I felt very full after the banquet. Drinks were expensive but also worth it.

I’ve been visiting Hellenika for the last 15years back when it was a grubby little place in Nobby Beach on the Good Coast, the food was superb and had a great local following before it transformed into the arguably over-rated restaurant it is now, I think a lot of the entitled attitudes of a lot of the staff is due to having to put up with a lot of the younger ‘influencers’ and pretenders that the hotel pumps through the doors during busy ‘drinking periods’. Nonetheless the service overall is quite good, the food hasn’t lost its delicious taste, it would be nice if they hid a lot of the distasteful roidheads and barbie influencers around the back so the rest of society can enjoy the otherwise relaxing and opulent atmosphere. I was a little disappointed with the lack of social distancing at my visit last evening - there were well over 100 people, tucked rather closely together. There was little concern for other diner’s health from this regard and I really thought this should have been done without patrons having to mention this to staff in the interests of filling up. Other restaurants are following social distancing, I see no exception just because of higher prices. Anyway, I’ll continue my visits but hope management keep customer’s healthy in higher regard than making money from them. PS I’ve made over 100 visits to this restaurant.

Ms sister took me to dinner here as a treat. Sis asked the Maîtresse d'hôtel for a "gorgeous table" and bless her she gave us a really good one overlooking the swimming pool. The service was exceptional -- discreet and friendly and helpful without being annoying or obsequious. The food was of extraordinary quality. I've never had a taramosalata so pale and with such a subtle taste that lacked the raspy fishiness that this dish can typically have. We shared everything including the Loukanika and Cypriot meatballs which were delicious. We had some wilted greens, and crispy fried anchovies and saganaki. The biggest surprise were the zucchini chips. They had a batter reminiscent of tempura and tasted beautiful and light and crispy and no hint of greasiness. I couldn't get enough of them. It was a great meal and a lovely atmosphere. Something I liked about the restaurant is that although a meal here can be pricey depending on what you order, the clientele are very relaxed and there was a mix of people who'd dressed up, some who'd come from work in business attire and others who were your regular Brisbane trakky daks and shorts brigade. It's pretty heavenly to dine on such lovely food outside under the stars and even the soundtrack was carefully chosen stylish tunes. Sis and I looked at the banquet menu but weren't sold on it. For the same price as two banquet menus, we got to order all the dishes of our choosing, a glass of sparkling wine and pinot noir respectively and endless sparkling mineral water. A good feed, a little wine and lovely ambience. $150 all up. I can't afford to dine here all the time but I'm already wondering how soon I can come back.

We booked here for Xmas eve dinner with 5 others expecting to indulge on a special night out. We heard and saw great things from friends and online stories of many enjoying this place but I can't say our experience was what we expected. But firstly can I just say the location is stunning and buzzing with people. We chose the classic banquet menu ($85pp) to suprise ourselves and keep the ordering simple. Our host came to our table 3 times in the space of 5 min. She was lovely but we couldn't help but to feel slightly rushed which I can appreciate if we were taking in excess of 15-20min but we had only just sat down.. The food unfortunately was the main let down. The lamb dish was great! But after all the breads dips zucchini chips calamari salad and whole fish that 2x of us almost swallowed a bone after being told it was boned was fed to us, we couldn't quite enjoy the star of the show (the lamb) because we were all so full. The taste of food is always subjective so please try this place for yourself before passing any judgement.. Our beer wine and cocktails were great! We will return for more of a cocktails and snacks event rather than a dinner event in future.

After reading all about the hype of “Hellenika” in the Calile Hotel, expectations were extremely high. No doubt the architecture and design of the building were as beautiful as expected however the dining experience in itself was rather a huge let down. Our waiter for the evening was probably one of the only great things from our evening however a few of the other serving staff members were severely undertrained and rude. The food was mediocre and would’ve been acceptable maybe at a fast food stall or suburban cafe, but if you’re going to class it as fine dining, charging the prices you are charging - I laugh at that idea alone. Presentation was thoroughly disappointing followed by the added disappointing taste of salt and salt only. Last but not least, the cocktails were very ordinary especially for the $22+ price tag. Safe to say Hellenika isn’t a venue I’d be rushing to return to and I’m sure I speak for a few people when I say that it’s obvious the place is more about the hype and Instagram reputation than it is for quality and good service.

I’ve been to Hellenika 5 times now, and I’m finding the table service continues to decline in attention and quality. I was there with two other people at the pool side, and I must have been served by at least a dozen different staff members over the 2 hours I was there. The staff seemed disorganised and scattered with poor communication between each other. We went periods of being asked one after the other and then no one at all. We had to constantly ask for drinks and water since our wine was kept away from us. Overall, the food was enjoyable, but the service experience and waiting times was less than pleasant for a Saturday afternoon. I understand that weekends can be busy, and staff are caught up, but the way staff were disorganised seemed to add to the problem in comparison to other restaurants.

We had our staff Christmas party at Hellenika this week. After reading many negative reviews, we were a bit hesitant to book this restaurant, but thought we'd give a go and make up our own minds. The food was great, the wait staff (in particular Lizzy) were on point, the whole place had a lovely vibe and the actual decor of the restaurant was beautiful. When we arrived, we were seated at one of the outside tables. As nice as it was near the pool, it was a bit hot (35 deg heat), so we asked if there were any tables inside in the airconditioning. Not a problem at all ... we were quickly seated in the cool. Our lovely waitress, Lizzy, approached us promptly, introduced herself and really looked after us for the duration of our stay (approximately 3.5 hours). I would gladly recommend this restaurant for a casual day gathering. It was absolutely perfect for us and I can't wait to dine there at night with just my husband :) Well done guys!!

The way the eggplant absorbs the sauces is absolutely amazing. Saganaki was something I didn't realise I would enjoy. I don't eat a lot of cheese but the saganaki is grilled perfectly.

The location and decor is beautiful and the food is brilliant however the waitstaff always seem untrained or disinterested and sometimes quite rude. Maybe there are not enough staff on for them to sufficiently wait the tables? My friend ordered her own meal today and also a second dish (to share -discussed between the table before the waitress arrived to take our order) and the waitress screwed up her face and asked her "if she was really that hungry" I don't see why it's her business what people want to order. I asked for a drinks list when our meals arrived and I finally recieved it by the time I had finished my meal some 15 minutes later. Waitstaff that are trained to match the calibre of the establishment that Hellenika at The Calile are trying to portray would really elevate the whole experience in my opinion.

Maybe Howard Smith Wharves challenges for trendiest, but, whatever, Hellenika is seriously popular. Bit too busy to get a feel for what the place looks like, as it’s pretty squeezy, but the fashionable pink and pale decor looks great. The limited food we had due to time constraints was good, and the staff, fine, but they were too busy to actually do more than take your order and present your bill - no time to discuss/explain, but as the menu is pretty straightforward, I suppose such finesse is not a requirement. Perhaps the atmosphere at night is different, but although we enjoyed our lunch, it felt a bit too much like a Bali Beach Club to us, so doubt we would return. But it’s fun, and good, simple Greek fare.

Great location and a really nice restaurant. It serves the pool area at the Calile as well. They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner. The service at dinner seems to be better and more efficient. Breakfast we found was a bit hit and miss especially when busy. Make sure you book for for any time but breakfast especially, as they do get busy on weekends, especially if a larger group. The food is traditional Greek food and well done but relatively oily, the zucchini fritters especially, although they are very tasty.

The service was really nowhere near what a place of this reputation and price deserves. They have a lot of work to do to bring the service up to the level expected from a place like this and the quality of the food. You should leave talking about the food but instead we were all shaking our heads at the amateur service.

But it’s hard to tell when EVERY SINGLE TIME you place an order, sitting poolside directly next to the pool, the waitresses wonder around aimlessly with your drinks for 10 minutes in 34 degree heat because they have no idea which chairs placed the order. Honestly guys, train your people. Put a number on the chairs like you have on the cabanas. Food good, but for this category hotel the service is not nearly good enough.

Ive been the Calile hotel hellenika restaurant twice now for dinner, once I went just with my partner and we ordered a few things off the menu to share but actually didn't really enjoy the experience (we are the blame ordering pasta at a Greek restaurant - but the service and ambience was great), however I went back more recently and had the banquet option with a large group of friends and it was phenomenal. We had such a large selection of delicious food and it was incredible - the staff were super lovely and attentive, ambience was great and of course did I mention how great the food was. After we finished our meals we went and sat outside by the pool and served some more drinks. Although we were outside the staff made every effort to make sure they were around when we were ready to order. It's a truly picturesque view with the pool and palm trees. I strongly recommend visiting the Calile hotel, eating the banquet and having a few cocktails by the pool and palm trees at hellenika :)

Best place to take your friend out of Brisbane!!!! Highly recommend this place to everyone. I visited this place recently as my sister in law was getting married and I wanted to buy them a really nice meal. From booking to the interior to the foods and wines, everything was so perfect. It was first time having a proper Greek food and I found all the dishes little too salty for me. However, my wife found it okay, so I guess it's just a personal thing. Overall the presentation were great and they were all tasty. We had lite lunch banquet and ordered Zuchinni fries and a bottle of white wine on top - and the portion was just right. If you don't want a full on meal, I would strongly recommend just having the Zuchinni fries and a glass of white wine each on a hot sunny day. I want to specially say thanks to Stephany, the waitress who served us and the sommelier who recommended us a great wine. The owner should give them a pay rise as they are making the whole experience more pleasant. It was absolutely memorable. Thanks

Such an elegant space, with solid professional service. I visited with a group of about 12, which we chose the banquet. The food was fabulous, rustic with refinement in the right places. They staff handled a couple of the groups dietary restrictions without fuss and whilst we ate everything thing that came out, everyone was bursting at the seams. I would highly recommend and can't wait to return for a more à la carte experience.

Spoiler alert there where heaps of seats available and as soon as this was pointed out a table miraculously appeared. Was seated outside by the pool for dinner. Waiter was extremely rude when we weren't ready to order and continued to give attitude throughout the night. Lighting for dinner was pitch black, I could barely see my food.

The food!! Wow! We went here for lunch and were not disappointed at all. Firstly, the staff were very friendly and helpful but the food was absolutely top notch and reasonably priced. We will be back. The only downside was the bar. We sat at the bar for a drink due to being early, the chairs were stained and torn and the bar was pretty average to look at with garbage on the floor and messy.

The location and setting is nice, poolside restaurant with a cool vibe. Service was good, what was better though was the food. High quality Greek cuisine. The Taramosalata dip was smooth and nice, the Kolokithia (Zucchini chips) were delicious (I overdosed on them), the Horiatiki (Greek salad) and the Lahano (cabbage salad) were fresh and tasty and the Htapodi (Octopus) was tender. We shared a couple of other dishes but it was the above that stood out for me.

They sound stupidly expensive but they’re amazing, large and tasty 😋 I drink French bubbles by the glass (I can’t trust myself with bottle service) and they serve this bevy icy cold. Just the way I like it. You would be amazed how many venues charge $$$ and don’t bother properly chilling the beverage 🤷🏽‍♀️ This is 1 restaurant I am not into dessert menu but that’s not their issue, I just don’t like Greek desserts. Go to a nearby gelato store if you still want something sweet 😘

I can only comment on the breakfast, which was, unfortunately, mediocre at best. Exorbitant prices for an underwhelming breakfast at an establishment that should be seeking to uphold its respected status rather than leaching off the same. Exaggerating a French accent while serving patrons doesn’t make the experience more worthwhile for customers either. Hopefully management can take this advice on board and improve the quality and quantity of the breakfast served. In Hellenika’s case, the saying “you get what you pay for” just doesn’t stick.

Nice wine and the food was ok. Mainly disappointed because I asked for gluten free food and said I was a coeliac; I was told two of the dips were. I ordered them. The dips were provided with and some bread and cucumber, I asked a different waiter if the bread was gluten free, they said no and the waiter took the bread away. I asked my initial waiter about gluten free bread and he dropped back a basket containing less bread. It looked the same. I then tried to find him to check if it was gluten free, after 10 minutes, I found him and asked if the bread was gluten free, he said it wasn’t and that no gluten free bread alternative was served there. I ate the dips with a fork as the dips slid off the cucumber. I would not have ordered the dips had I know this. A bit shocked as Hellenika is well known and I thought they would have excelled at food allergies.

What I consider one of the best restaurants in Brisbane. This new adaptation of the original Gold Coast restaurant is on point with its food and service. It serves modern day greek, accompanied by a great wine list that includes beautiful greek wines and a lengthy cocktail list. I am a particular fan of their larger seafood menu than their Gold Coast counterpart. They offer both meat and seafood dishes to cover a wide variety of food preferences. The location of the Calile Hotel is a great location for the ambience of Hellenika. It can get extremely busy, especially over the summer period so I would recommend booking in advance if you want to secure a table. My personal favourite dishes are the Saganaki, Kolokithia, Baked Lamb Shoulder and whole fish of the day. All round beautiful experience and perfect for a romantic dinner, a night to treat yourself or a family experience.

3 stars because the place looks quite pretty and makes you feel like you’re on an overseas holiday. We were guests at the hotel and so went down to have a late lunch by the pool, serviced by the Hellenika staff. Set our things in a cabana, husband and daughter got in the pool and I waited to see a waiter. After about 10 mins I went to find one myself, only to be told the cabana we were in was “reserved” and we had to move. There was so sign so I was confused, especially as they are meant to be first come first serve, but then we’re told “it’s for the owner”. Oh, ok?! If I was the owner of a hotel I wouldn’t be kicking guests out of areas for myself?! It was petty but really made us feel like we didn’t matter one bit. It was our first and last stay here I’m afraid.
