Comments of Kadoya Japanese Restaurant
J.
Kadoya has been my go to for years, ever since my uni days! They never fail to amaze me with their tasty food! Their curries are the bomb, I ordered the tofu curry it was delicious, very tasty! Would recommend ! The food is cheap and worth it!! Friendly service, food came out quickly. Definitely will be back 10/10!
S.
Great food!!
Had a chicken katsu curry and it was very nice.
Partner loved the "The big fish".
Would definitely eat again.

I was lucky I got in before the rest of the lunch time crowd today as this place is always busy. A nice Japanese server took our order and the put the order on the microphone through to the kitchen. I loved the authenticity of that ordering system. Our food came out extremely quickly. The ramen and bento were pretty nice for something prepared in such a short period of time. There was a queue outside the door as I walked out. Nice and reasonably priced food served really quickly in a convenient location. What more could one ask for?
T.
Kadoya has the best Japanese curry to offer in Brisbane! I miss Japanese curry so much and Kadoya is the closest in taste! Also I love the atmosphere of the restaurant it is such a comforting place to have authentic Japanese food when you miss it most!!! Also I love how you can customise the spice level and you can have Mayo on the chicken it’s always so delicious!!!!
W. C.
Price is not too bad as they are located in the CBD. I will give it 2.5 stars if google maps change the rating method. I ordered chicken karaage ramen and dumplings and my partner ordered fire ramen with 1,000 level spicy and curry rice with prawn. Karaage was tasty but just warm not hot enough. Ramen basically tasteless. Dumplings were really good and hot, however the skin was cooked too long so they were all became black. Curry was just okay and prawns were too tiny and thin so we felt we were just eating flour.
r.
Good tasting face, absolutely amazing value for money, the portion sizes were well above average for the cost.
The food came in record breaking speeds, they're very fast and efficient for eating in and taking away.
The only downside I would say is that it gets very noisy inside due to how busy they are
E. G.
Amazing food. Great value and super lovely staff. Quickly has become my favourite place to eat in Brisbane!
J. C.
Japanese fast food...
great service, Japanese waiters are always friendly and efficient.
Menu is easy to understand, all food have picture on it. I love the spicy lever is rank from 10 , 100 , 1000 then 1 million ... I ordered 10 for my son for the Japanese curry.
I would have given a 5 star, however the pork katsu was a let down, it was pre-fried and fried again when ordered, so the pork was very dry and the crust was hard. I do understand this is due to the need for fast food style, however, since the pork is already very thin , so prefried will make it super dry. Just a little comment, no offence to the chef.
Anyway, great for a quickies haha... definitely there are room to improve for their food.

I've been eating at Kadoya since high school times when it was still in Elizabeth Arcade, which was 20 years ago! The good times! Recently found it has moved to Mary street and I just had to try the 1 million spicy ramen! It was just the right amount of spiciness for me. So satisfying! Not as spicy as the new Korean fire noodle though. I don't visit the city as often now but will definitely return for their curries.
C. B.
Went here last week. Really enjoyed the food. I'm a ramen convert now after having had a disappointing experience elsewhere. I'll be using Kadoya as a gold standard for quality Japanese food from now on.
Highly recommend this place. It's small, but the staff are super friendly and again the food is fantastic.
M.
Great value. My 1,000,000 garlic ramen was more sour than the overwhelming garlic flavour sold. But tempura was great
T. H.
Pretty darn good. Curry could have been a little thicker, but chicken katsu and karage were excellent, and the vegetable croquettes were very nice. Cream crab croquettes were alright. But the price was so reasonable and we were stuffed with good japanese food, very happy!
A. A.
Been eating here for years. They still taste the same. Always come to have their Chicken Katsu Curry. Decent price and good size. Staffs are lovely and friendly. Service is also quick.
G. A.
The best darn non-sushi Japanese food that I've ever had. I asked for 1,000,000 level spicy ramen, yet did not expect it to be that spicy, but it knocked my socks off. So darn spicy, yet so darn tasty. Loved it.
T. M.
Hands down, the best Japanese kitchen in Brisbane - it reminds me of my time back in Japan.
Absolutely delicious fresh food, super fast service, and lovely polite staff.
The tofu curry and teriyaki tofu dishes are my favourite - very authentic tasting and the servings are massive, for a ridiculously decent price.
J. I.
The food is okay but please tell your staff not to spray detergent near tables where customers are still sitting. As your door is always open, the wind blows the detergent smell everywhere. I had to rush off without finishing my food as I was worried about detergent molecules getting into my food.
A. C.
Always the best Japanese curry in Brisbane. Quick and Friendly! Please make your establishment more tidy though.
H. H.
A very good Japanese restaurant with many choices. Native Japanse tastes. Nice staff. Good memory. Popular in Brisbane residents.
J. A.
Was met by super friendly staff as we walked on. You make your order at the register in the front door and within minutes your order comes out. We ordered chicken teriyaki and chicken karage curry and tasted amazing. Price is super affordable. Great value.
J. H.
Kadoya is my favourite place in the CBD for comfort Japanese dishes. Great prices and polite staff, I keep coming back.
J. Y.
I live their curry and bento, very good bargain for the food quality and price. Friendly service, good food, clean environment. They can get quite busy at lunch or dinner time so be patient.
B. W.
Service is really good and fast, food is slightly pricey but still reasonable because of the quality they have. I Bought takeaways, and they are organised in good looking boxes and bag. I ordered the deluxe beef terriyaki rice box. The food is very delicious, rice is cooked right, beef is tender and juicy. Really worth it for its price. Can't wait to have my next meal there again.

Easily one of the best places to eat in Brisbane! The sizes of every item is huge and fantastic quality, there isn’t a single bad item on this menu! Highly recommend the seaweed salad it’s lettuce is always moist but perfectly crisp. The staff are incredibly lovely and remember customers and their orders well making the environment so welcoming. Honestly surprised this place doesn’t have lines of people waiting to dine in!
F. M.
So good! Be sure to try the tonkotsu ramen, katsu curry (but beware of spice lvl 1000 or more!) and the karaage don. Delicious!
Always has classic anime playing on the TV in the restaurant and it's always packed with locals 👌
J. B.
I went in the shop thinking it was more of a ramen shop but jokes, this is a Japanese restaurant. I know it’s in the name but...lol. Anyway, great ramen, very filling, it is a lot. The broth is rich, but not too much. No braised pork but karaage chicken instead. Noodles is good. Overall, very good ramen for the price. $12.90 AUD
A. S.
This place is great. Food is 10 out 10 if you like Japanese food. Service are very friendly. Food is quick. Food quality is fresh and excellent. Menu is extensive and may be a bit intimidating at first. I suggest a Delux bento. Very authentic. Lots of Japanese spoken. Lunch rush can see this place every busy. When you get take away you wait outside and the bring to the footpath.
L. B.
Great food! Very quick service as well. The waitress was also very nice.
D. R.
Tried this place as it's one of the convenient places to eat around the business area near the botanical gardens. The dining area is quite small and it gets packed especially during lunch times. Most people take away because of this. I was lucky enough to be able to sit down during one of my lunch breaks and had ramen (garlic power ramen). There's minimal staff so it's pretty much table service for food delivery but self service for water and condiments.

Food was great. Nice small shop and quick to serve you and make the food. They play Kiki’s Delivery Service on repeat, which is amazing. The decor could be improved with some new tables and chairs, but otherwise there are nice photos and art to look at while eating your lunch.
K.
Been going here for years. Friendly staff, meals freshly prepared. Normally busy but you don't have to wait long. I got the prawn side dish for free using their loyalty program. My fave dish is the chicken katsu curry with level 1 million chilli! I also get extra mayo no additional charge.
D. K.
Been there since early mid 2000s always good curry and bento. Great casual dining place
D. P.
Fantastic as always! Lots of tasty stuff on the new menu, but still can't go past the Chicken Katsudon! 😊
Thanks!
C. L.
I like ramen, The noodle taste very good, chicken katsu also delicious 😋
T. M.
Quite easily my favourite Japanese food. I have been eating their food for almost eight years and have never, ever been disappointed. Please, do yourself a favour and eat here, you won't be disppaointed by the excellent service, the wonderful food, and the very reasonable prices.
U. M.
i like Japanese restaurants here because we can easy to go there ;)
If you wanna try Japanese meal in Australia, you should go to here
R. P.
They do a great style of Japanese curry here. Plenty of curry sauce. I even had a Pocari Sweat drink
O. Y.
I had an egg katsu don and it was quite good and price reasonable. If you are going to CBD and wanna have Japanese food on budget, this is the place to go for
K. F.
Came here with colleagues on our lunch break and we loved the deluxe bento boxes - great quality, nice service, reasonably priced, and generous servings. Would definitely come back here!
B. A.
Nice food at reasonable prices and good service.
j. H.
I had good food Tonkotsu Ramen and Happy Bento box Ramen is very spice but i ♥it just try 1000 hahaha also Mackerel Banto box
Not much expensive and delicious food thanks
M. A.
This is my favourite place to have lunch while at work. The serving sizes are so big. Curry is delicious and spice chart accurate. Rate the chicken teriyaki don highly too.
S. A.
Simply amazing! It's hands down one of the best and affordable restaurant in Brisbane. Very lovely staff and delicious food.
P.S. People complain too much. If you're not happy with the food, just ask them to see if they could rectify your order. They are always happy to help me with mine
G. O.
Great Katsu Curry! Very polite service!
S. H.
This place has it all - large variety, decent portions, low prices and served quickly. The food is your typical Japanese fair but it tastes really good. The only downside is that there's not much space inside, so don't expect to get a seat in the lunch rush hour.
M. H.
Great simple Japanese food, great prices
M. L.
Tasty food and friendly service! Thank you
J. L.
Highly recommend the fish katsu curry. It may not be the most authentic Japanese dish, but it is pretty good. Great value for money as well, although prices have il gone up in recent times. Excellent place for a quick lunch bite.
Don't expect it to be fine dining quality but the service is great and food to match their service.
They used to have deep fried oyster but not anymore for some reason.
T. D.
Top tier karaage chicken curry.
Extremely friendly and helpful staffs
Comfy simple restaurant.
Free extra rice.
Spicy curry actually spicy.
10/10 love this place
J. L.
Quality Bento, great noodles and generous portions. Best place to grab a quick and quality Japanese meal in the CBD
Z. N.
We used to come here for their super spicy udon which was very nice and tasty. However, they have changed the menu recently and removed that dish!! What a shame! We came today for lunch, ordered the spicy karage don and their only spicy noodle soup. But indeed, it was too salty and not as nice as before.
C. L.
Great food! Generous portions. Never disappointed every time we go there. Return customer. Highly recommend!
S. C.
Nice food, quick service and good portion sizes
P. M.
For such a humble little restaurant, they do amazing food. With a great selection and generous portions, they will feed you well.
K. C.
Had Tofu Teriyaki Bento Box takeaway and it was quite good. Tastes fresh and well cooked. Decent prices too. Staff friendly and if eating there, simple layout watching a Ghibli movie.
S.
I live across the road from this place so I'm a definite regular. Food is good, portion sizes are a little small. Has some odd choices for added vegetables to don bowls.
But it's authentic, and great service.
K. G.
Ramen, Udon, Bento and Curry shop with authentic Japanese flavours run by a full Japanese crew. The food tastes more home cooked than a professional Izakaya shop.
l. z.
Order a spicy beef bento , the beef dish has too much sugar, it taste extremely sweet and a bit unhealthily .
W. W.
Really wanted to try here after spotting it on my way to Izakaya Kotobuki. Looked a bit cheaper and more low-key but somehow more authentic.
I ordered the Katsu curry spice level 10 at 7:50pm and was told they were only doing take away but that I could eat inside. Food came out quickly was fresh and delicious. Would have loved a bit more salad but otherwise can't complain.
Will be back to try other menu items!
M. P.
Have been going here for years and is one of my favourite places for no nonsense Japanese in the city. Prices are reasonable and I really enjoy the menu - a few quirky things offered that I don't see usually. While it is now a little more hidden away on Mary St and I notice that it isn't as bustling as it was when in the Elizabeth Arcade location - definitely still the same quality/experience.
M. M.
I’ve been to Japan, but never got to try the curry. It was sooo cheap and yummy. The veggie croquets were great with curry. The only complaint is that the ramen noodles weren’t the best quality, by the taste was great.
Definitely will come back!
s. l.
We heard about this place from reading reviews and decided to give it a go. Curry chicken katsu and corquette salad were fantastic! Authentic and reasonably priced. We'll come back for more if we visit Brisbane again.
H. Y.
As Japanese as it gets. Great food, portion size & with reasonable prices. You have anime to watch too on the telly. Has a queue every lunchtime but it moves fast with the quick service.
S. M.
Very good restaurant and has become a favourite for lunch. Some of the best donburis in the area and they offer loyalty rewards. Have noticed it can be a bit busy on Fridays between 12 and 1:30.
I. D.
I absolutely adore Kadoya. As has been mentioned in other reviews: the service is fast! Apart from the service though, everything else about Kadoya is slow, in the best way possible. Kadoya is a cozy little refuge from the rest of the city... try to score one of the tables in the back corner, kick back, and enjoy your vegetable croquette curry in peace. It's a wonderful place to eat. Friendly staff, great prices.
S. B.
This visit I chose the bento box with rice, chicken katsu and miso soup. I also got a side of curry. I ate in and service was friendly and fast (pro tip; they do take a little longer in the busy lunch period so I went at 1.30pm after the rush). Food was amazing. One of my favourite Japanese food places in Brisbane.
D.
Japanese on a budget with great flavor, for less then $10 for a great meal its hard to beat.
I have been going here for 10 years, it is a must try place for anyone looking for a meal on a budget.
Yes there is a toilet.
S.
Lovely service and friendly staff, food is amazing and will visit again soon!
Absolutely deserves a 5 star rating.
D. L.
Great lunch Box, simple easy place to eat
K. L.
Good selection of food, reasonable price, authentic taste of food even though the appearance isn't that authentic, and super friendly staff. One of my favourite Japanese restaurant in Brisbane city.
A. B.
Ordered through Foodora. Great tonkotsu ramen. After a terrible experience with ramen from another Japanese restaurant I was a bit hesitant to try it again. Pleased that the noodles were fresh and lots of broth. Very filling despite missing boiled egg like most. Also had the pork dumplings and fried prawns. Everything was fresh and delicious. I'm a newbie to Japanese cuisine but will definitely try more foods from this restaurant 😄
L. D.
Weekday lunch. Had the oyakodon. The chicken was only barely cooked and would have benefited from a few more minutes on the stove. Tasted fine and otherwise authentic. However, not a comfortable place to eat. Seats are tiny plastic covered stools all of which are old and shabby. Was like being a parent at kindergarten sitting on baby seats. This 173cm woman won't be back for this reason alone.
D. D. B.
We have been coming for 9 years, we love the food and the curry for a good price. My wife's favourite curry.
G. W.
Tasty good. Staff is Japanese and very courteous. Potions are large. Ordered more than we could eat. it seemed lot of Japanese are coming here.
A. P.
I've continued to come here since my last review and I have to say it's really good. I always come here for the chicken and pork katsu curry. Just the best around! You get a lot of curry so beware.
T. M.
Can't go to the city without getting some of their Karaage chicken ramen. Friendly service and awesome food!
D. K.
Delicious and big servings enough for 2. We had a spicy curry dish. Was not spicy at all for us.
M. S. K.
Love this Japanese joint for my eel bento fix.
J. C.
Dined in on friday and the food was amazing. Prices are great and so was the service
J. M. (.
Whether it is a Karaage bento or a Donburi, this place just can't disappoint me regarding taste and price. I love how—unlike other Japanese fast food places in the city—Kadoya puts heaps of sauce on their Donburi bowls. They have grilled onions and egg omelette poured over at the last minute, so the egg can still be stirred through the rice. It's making me hungry just describing it now. $9.50 for a massive bowl of awesome.
E. J. D.
1 minute from my share house.
I never been this place. But my mate is working in here. He showed me Kadoya's food, And I tried it.
Tasty was really good! Cheers, All Japanese!
T. B.
Cheap and delicious Japanese! Curry isn't as good as Hanaichi, but it's still nice and they give you plenty of it. Salads are fantastic.
S. A. H.
I ordered grilled chicken don, it was quite good. The atmosphere of the place itself was okay considering the size of the restaurant. The price range was also affordable.
A. B.
So good eating the chicken curry. Great during lunch.
J. T.
I have never been to the actual restaurant but I usually get this when I order lunch from UberEats! I love the Chicken Katsu Curry. The meals are affordable and very delicious.
A. A.
this place has changed management a few times since 2002, but this still is my favorite japanese of all time. I always get their chicken curry here, it is the best ever
Z. Z.
Friendly staff and enjoyable atmosphere. The curry rice dishes are quite value for money considering it is located in the middle of the CDB.
D. V.
The staff a very helpful. The food us fresh and well priced. It always comes out quickly too.
G. L.
Really liked the food, great quality could actually taste the crumbed prawns, the Bento Box Dulux was too much for me to eat.
Á. N. N.
Love the takoyaki and the crispy chicken. Very affordable price and delicious foods. However, the taiyaki was smaller than I thought. Definitely come back
S.
After trying almost every japanese restaurant in brisbane; Kadoya is still hands down my favorite place, amazing curry and such a great atmosphere.
k. h.
Great food and friendly customer service. The vibe inside is just wonderful. The set course meals are very generous and great price. Thank you
R. T.
Japanese Fast food. Good for when i want cheap Japanese food. My fav place to eat and watch old AKB48 concerts they always play on thier TV screen.
J. W.
Same old Kadoya, except food is more expensive and chicken grew a bit smaller... oh and sides to katsu curries aren't as good anymore as the original Elizabeth arcade days
K.
Best Japanese curry I have had in Brisbane, low waiting time, prices are reasonable. Highly recommended.
D. H.
Time from order to food on the table was quick. Food was delicious. Price was reasonable with generous serving size.
S. K.
