My favourite shop love the food ,and love the atmosphere
J.
Good Korean food! I got the omurice with chicken and the black bean noodles. It comes with these amazing side dishes and you can’t go wrong with a shot of soju goes down so well! Very quick service and friendly staff. Would highly recommend, 10/10!!! We went in a large group.

Poor service - the waiter was pretty rough putting and pushing the dishes on our table, the kimchi almost fell onto my lap. The spicy pork ribs soup was very tasty, lemon chicken was average - was expecting crispy but I understand the lemon sauce made it not crispy (had to pick the one without sauce at the end, should have ordered the original ones). The black bean noodle tasted like overcooked. I have had many black bean noodles at other places and they didn’t taste like this. Must admit that the serving size was very generous. Price paid about $57 for 3 dishes (2 ppl eating). I might not come here again or if I did, might choose something else to eat.

Been a while since last visited so decided to lunch today once seated saw a Korean lady next to us eating her fried rice and thought I'll tried one today but when mine arrived it was 50% smaller in portion compared to hers didn't complain to manager but as we were paying at reception the staff asked about our meal and i feedback her that food was tasty but small portion, staff replied only 1 size and manager overheard and said must be tasty that's why it appears smaller in portion but guys there's inconsistency here the fried rice cost $18.80 and it's 50% less than the neighbours maybe dun order fried rice from here guys would give 4 stars but porions cost 1 star.

Went to have some Korean lunch whilst in office for work the other day @marukoreanbbq 🤗🤩
.
They have a big selection of lunch specials on offer, so you'll definitely find something that sounds and looks yummy 😋
.
I ordered the 'mini' tofu hotpot with pork. It says "mini" but when it comes out, it's a full sized portion 👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼
.
Heaps of tofu & pork plus the flavours were rich and on point! 👍🏼 Totally satisfying lunch in cold weather 🤤🤤🤤

Good food and service.
Previous times when my partner and I visited, food was very underwhelming , however our most recent visit tonight was surprisingly good.
I think they’ve had a change of management or staff, as service was much more efficient and attentive. Food also came out quickly and was quite tasty.
Overall good experience, we’ll be back 👍🏻

Dined at Maru during my trip to Brisbane, really had a great experience there! The quality of meats they served was awesome, and the staffs were helpful.
P.
The soy chicken and spicy octopus are great. The kbbq sets and soups are also good, sauces compliment greatly
M.
We have dined in at Maru on numerous occasions over the last few years, and lately we have ordered a lot of takeaway from Maru. The service and the food at Maru have always been exceptional. Whenever we have cravings for Korean food, the food from Maru always satisfies them.
Takeaway can be ordered online or over the phone. I love how the dishes are packed elegantly and with lots of care to prevent any spillage. Pair the food from Maru with some Soju, and one will have an exceptional experience.

We had an enjoyable evening here on Sunday. The staff were very polite and friendly and provided efficient service. Our dishes came out in less than 10 minutes after we placed our order. They were delicious, well-presented and generously portioned. The restaurant also appeared to have good ventilation - we were close to the bbq area but weren't affected by the smoke. Thank you for the great meal and experience.
唐.
Visiting this shop again, the taste has changed very well, I like it very much

We had Korean BBQ here and it was alright honestly. We thought that the variety of meat was quite limited and it was average tasting. The pork belly was a little bit too chewy as there was so much fat on it.
The Spicy-mayo fried chicken was delicious tho much better tasting than the bbq. The price was descent for the selection, and the staff were lovely. It’s nice to come here with mates but I reckon this place needs to improve on its BBQ meat selection and the quality of the meats.
S.
We had a really good dinning experience in this restaurant. The food was so tasty and staffs were very friendly. Fried chicken was amazing and same with other dishes.
Service was very fast with warm hospitality. Will definitely be back 😊

Went in here for a family dinner on the spur of the moment walk in. To be honest wasn't too sure about this place from the look of it from the outside but decided to give it a go. So glad I did....this place is awesome!! Some of the best service ever, very quick with the meals, great meal too. Service was some of the best I have had in Brisbane actually. They greeted us well, waited on us in a professional manner. Will be back, great find! The meal sizes caught us off guard, really generous size meals, probably overordered, good drink selection as well, beers at $5bucks is good value.
L. J.
I ordered a spicy seafood noodle soup and chive pancakes. The pancakes were so tasty! That crunchy texture is unforgettable. The portion of the soup was enormous. Surprised by the variation of the seafood. Squids, mussels, clams, prawns... I really enjoyed the meal!

EDIT: Have bumped this review up to 4 stars (from previously 1) as Maru was quick to reach out to apologize and try to make good with us. We didn't end up eating there that night however did come back a different day. Food as always was excellent, we're fans of their marinated meats - (works with any of the cuts available but more so with pork). Their spicy chicken is also really good - crunchy with just the right spice. Will definitely comeback but absolutely get a reservation down if you're coming for dinner on a Thursday or on the weekend.
Previous review:
Placed a reservation a day before over the phone, table for two at their bbq place. They text me on the day to confirm my BBQ table for 2. Arrive there and am told that I reserved a normal (non-BBQ table), clearly trying to say that it was my fault.
Showed them their text and they briefly apologize for their mistake and put us in line to wait potentially 45 mins - 1 hr for the next free table, considering every single one had just started their meal.
I get that it's a busy Friday night, but this is exactly why I called well in advance. An "oops we're sorry" doesn't cut it. Have eaten here before multiple times back when they had delivery (and food was good) but that just doesn't justify the service experience unfortunately.
R. T.
Food was okay, was surprised how expensive it was for two of us. Didn't find it very authentic either, have been to other Korean BBQ places and they're usually really good, tasty meats and endless condiments. Vegie plate was disappointing, you may as well ask for a while onion.
Otherwise, clean, tidy and polite.
P. C.
Had combo C bbq and meat quality is good,
No bulgogi on menu 😟 which my kids were looking forward too, not many side dishes , only 3 and no lettuce leaves only green leaf salad.
Service quick…though…
The place was packed though, would I come again? Probably not as I’m out of town and would try other places first.
S. S.
We decided to eat here after reading other reviews.
Nondescript from the street, clean basic decor.
We asked the wait staff what the lady at the table next to us was eating and ordered the same - Fried Chicken Curry. My husband said it was the best curry he had eaten.
Food & drink service was fast, fresh and hot!
If my husband has his way, we’ll be back tomorrow!
S. M.
Good experience, they have quite a lot of items to order on their menu. I loved this unique dish where rice is wrapped by eggs (omelette) surrounded by thick creamy mushrooms and boneless chicken 🍗.
Give it a go guys... ( if you eat less, this item can be too much of a food for you)
_. W. _.
Great food! Lots of options.
Pros:
- good food and have some options for vegetarians! (Would be nice to have some good options for vegans though.)
- interesting mix of some food that isn't Korean (which could be a con)
- easy to find and in the heart of the city!
Cons:
- it is SO LOUD. The music is really loud, the restaurant is really loud. Hard to chat.
O. K.
Easily one.amomg the best Korean Food we have had in Australia, so far.
Is there a room to say more?
If you are looking for inexpensive and yummy Korean food served by very friendly staff, this is the place to be.
They also have a a Barbecue section, upstairs,.But we did not have enough time to explore it. Maybe next time.
Y. L. F.
We stumbled across this place when visiting Brisbane last year, and the food was so delicious and well priced that we had to come back! Despite the fact it's usually fairly busy, the food only takes about 5 minutes to come out, and is always super hot and tasty. I can't fault the food, highly recommend 😋🥘
R. L.
Delicious & beautiful presented food. Good vibes …lovely staff & clean eatery. Kimchi is superb👍
D. Z.
Whether I'm eating solo or in a group, a la carte or bbq, I've always experienced a 5 star experience at Maru.
The food is tasty, fast and CONSISTENT!! The staff have always been lovely and very accommodating especially when dining with a baby.
I've been to a number of Korean places across QLD and the Sydney area and I've yet to find another place that compares taste wise, let alone for all the other great points.
Also big fan of Maru Express!!
J. L.
This restaurant has two levels. The top level is reserved for those who want to eat the restaurant's BBQ selection. The problem with this is that the top level has poor air ventilation and ends up being a smoke-filled floor.
The bottom levels allows you to order from their A la carte menu. Food is reasonable. Price is okay but bordering slightly pricey. Staff are sometimes slow to serve and the cashier is often on the phone taking orders when there is a queue of customers wanting to pay.
M. S. K.
Probably the best Korean restaurant in city. Very welcoming and accommodating staff, generously portioned delicious meals, and two well ventilated separate floors (so you don't get soacked in the bbq smoke). Lunch specials and daily specials are also good value - cheaper but not less quality nor quantity.
B. F.
I've had two experiences at Maru now. The first was in 2019 and was not very good, I was disappointed in the service and the quality and volume of food received for the cost.
I have since been back in 2021 and was very happy with both the service and the food. I found staff friendly and helpful, and for ~$35 each we were all well fed and enjoyed the meals.
I am not sure what has changed, but i feel it has improved a lot.
I still have some hesitations however I would be more than happy to give Maru some more tries.
J. P.
Delicious and well priced Korean in the heart of the city. We go here whenever we lunch in the city. The fried chicken is really good according to my date. I can vouch for the vegetarian options. Food is served with a spread of delicious condiments.
Update: I now eat meat and the sweet chilli is fantastic! Yes, it's still our fave spot to eat in the city.
R. C.
Good dining environment and so friendly staff. There are a lot of choices of Korean food, which is delicious😋😋😋😋 I love the boneless fried chicken so much!
A. A.
Had dinner with friends here. We were happy with the meal. Tastes good and price comes with decent portion. They have spacious space - two storeys. Suitable for big group and family with kids. Korean BBQ is available. BBQ is on electric stove, not on charcoal.
S. C. (.
Great Korean food, popular venue, excellent for catching up with friends or coworkers. Place you bookings ahead during busy periods as there usually is a long queue at the door wrapping around the block.
S. T.
Certainly the finest Korean BBQ in Brisbane that I've tried. The Wagyu melts in your mouth and the pork belly is superb
Awesome rice and chicken dishes great selection
The kimchi is the best I've had in Australia
N. L.
Interesting Korean restaurant which is usually busy. Minimal in deco but lively atmosphere. Standard fare without too much panache or frills, relatively medium prices for what it offers. The grill is a better option and is best reserved for bigger groups. Still has a nifty tablet ordering system, which makes interactions rapid and nonverbal.
T. D. W.
Staff were friendly and helpful, food was delicious and a price to match. Drinks prices were reasonable, this place would be awesome with a large group
P. R.
Korean restaurant located in the heart of Brisbane city, great varieties of hot pot, Korean BBQ, dishes and beers. I like the atmosphere, I felt I was eating in a local restaurant in the Seoul. The waiting list was not too long and super fast services. The hot octopus beef pot was a delicious menu, rich of flavours, little spicy and the soup wow so good. I can recommended this restaurant for Korean food lovers or if you want experience the excellence of Asian customer services, fast, delicious and reasonable prices. Well done guys!
J. P.
I've ben coming here for 5+ years now and the food is ALWAYS good! The service can be a bit hit and miss as they get super busy and its quite large so the wait staff aren't always attentive. But who cares when you have amazing food, cheap drink bundles and good friends! Love this place!
Z. Z.
Pretty nice place, cheap and great portions. Forgot to take a photo 😅
R. C.
Their spicy tofu and pork stew is not a joke. The silkiest tofu I have ever experienced, truly an amazing meal. A generous amount of pork too. Side dishes came out very quickly after ordering which is always amazing to see. It's 12 dollars during lunch on weekdays.
r. o.
Best Korean BBQ restaurant in Brisbane picked by Korean,
I reckon your can have best fresh meat and service in this restaurant,
My colleagues, friends and families love here!
If you want Korean BBQ, here is the one!
I will come back for No.1 Korean cuisine!
B. P.
Such a gem, whether alone or with family or friends, dining here is a great please! Absolutely delicious food and service by staff.
M. M.
Came in on a spur of the moment walk in for lunch, the inside was very welcoming, staff were lovely and food delicious and well priced (they do cheap daily lunch specials!). Highly recommend, I'll definitely be back to try their KBBQ section.
J. A.
Fantastic service and efficient - food comes out so quickly. The fried chicken with sweet chilli sauce was delicious as well as the fried squid. The BBQ on the grill was also excellent - can't wait to go back.
R. A.
One of the best Oyster Blades I’ve had in Australia. Every single item on the table was sumptuous including the radish. Good stuff. Definitely going to visit Mary every time I’m in Brisbane.
B. L.
An authentic Korean restaurant conveniently located in the inner city. Great range of Korean dishes with decent price. (Lunch menu will come with a nice deal as well). My Pork Kimchi Soup was authentic, delicious, and hearty. We also got a complimentary side dish set that came in 3 small plates, which were good too. One thing that can be improved is the lighting in the restaurant. It feels too dim for a restaurant. So if they can add in more light, that would provide a more welcoming and warmer ambiance. Anyways, overall good and I'd come back for more next time!
O.
Maru is good. The food is reasonably good and well priced. The one issue that I've had is that every time I've gone the staff often ignore the younger people in the group. I offered to pay for a group I was with one time and got met with incredulity by the till operator because I was the youngest there.
C.
Delightful place with a buzzing atmosphere, fast service and generous portions.
Would definitely come back. The food was delicious and all the accompaniments really elevated our dining experience.
N. K.
Fast & smooth service. Very hearty and flavourful pork rib soup. Must give credits to chef in making sure meat is cooked tender. A bit of toufu will be perfect! Portion is generous but I finished it! Hardworking staffs. Many Korean restaurants around, Maru stands out for keeping up the standards and friendly service.
S. L.
You should come here during busy lunch hour, you will see how a resturant should be run. Food is of top quality and service is so fast, Maru has made impossible possible in food industry. Haven't seen any other place this efficient big or small. Best korean resturant i have been in Australia.
C. J.
price is okay for Korean food BBQ, BUT not the same manu for ANOTHER Maru located at Cannon Hill. Table service is just okay...
C. Y.
I love Maru! They spoiled you with condiments and instant coffee/tea. The food is pretty average but who cares when you’re hungry and in a hurry to eat. Brilliant staff with super efficient service.
V. H.
Enjoyed my bimbimbap dishes with spicy fried Chicken ($6 extra only ) . Good portion and reasonable price in the city . Staffs are nice and meals come to your table quickly once you have placed an order. Nice dining environment. Will go again when I visit Brisbane
S. A.
Excellent service, thank you to the kind gentleman Tonight who helped show us how to correctly cook/ use the BBQ. Your service is impeccable and I will be back !
H. R. B.
Went to this place with couple of my friends to try Korean. Had an amazing teriyaki Chicken fried rice myself and my friends had other stuffs. It was just yummy and good. Highly recommended for quick brunch. Service is timely and amicable.
H. J. P.
I think this place is pretty good in comparison to other Korean resto nearby. I usually can't finish the rice bowl since it's fairly large, and this is always a great sign. Not only is is a big portion but it's a delicious one - so enjoy it until you want to throw up.
N. A.
A completely amazing culinary experience. You get to cook your own meat exactly how you like it and you get these amazing dipping sauces that make it even more magical. Maru is my place for all events and celebrations. Any excuse will do. I went to a cheaper all you can eat Korean BBQ and it just didn't compare. Meat quality counts. Do yourself a favour and go there now.
X. C.
There are a lot of Korean people eating in the shop, it should be a very pure Korean shop. The location is very good. It's next to the busiest shopping street. It's easy to find. We ordered cold noodles, Fried chicken and bibimbap. Cold noodles are very standard Korean cold noodles, the taste is very authentic. Fried chicken and bibimbap, not very impressive. When you want a Korean meal, try it.
I.
A great cozy place for a feed with the besties. Very relaxing and a great vibe. Staff were brilliant and the food fantastic. We love cooking the meat and veg on the grill while chatting and catching up.
Highly recommend a visit with friends, family, or partners.
D. Y.
Quality meat servings and staff were very attentive. Pork belly was the best! Spicy fried chicken was more sweet than spicy!
R. P.
Very busy on a Friday. Be sure to book ahead. Everything as standard as the usual Korean BBQ. They do have a call button which is very good to get immediate service. My only criticism would be to offer more rice and sauces. You get so much meat but not much rice.
M. Z.
Very good experience here, we came around 5.20pm, after we finish, many people waiting outside. The waiters and boss are all korean look, even all container, spoon and chopaticks are all korean, feeling like watching kerean TV. We ordered cheese rice cake and mixed sausage hot pot, very tasty!! cheese is mozzarella! Next time to brisbane, I'll bring my friends here.
J. P.
As vegetarians the selection for us was very limited as nearly every meal contains meat but what we had was very good. Fantastic kimchi, bibimbap, tofu salad and kimchi fried rice. we will come back! Friendly service and comfortable seating. In CBD so not overly easy to find a carpark but that’s an issue all restaurants phase. I would recommend this place.
M. A.
Ask how the food you ordered is meant to be eaten and you'll enjoy one of most authentic Korean restaurants in the area.
If ordering Bibimbap in a sizzling stone bowl for example, make sure you mix up the food well with spoon really well as the food served in this dish is literally cold and requires the sizzling bowl to warm and crisp it up.
There are two stairs and remember to mention to them that you gonna order Korean BBQ (fresh meat cooked on the table) which require a special BBQ table upstairs, early on.
There are plenty of ready foods in the menu and keep in mind since people are cooking their food fresh, upstairs can be quite warm.
Try their traditional alcoholic drinks if you're not to drive.
A leisurely walk from Queens st will take you here in 3 mins tops in the heart of Brisbane CBD. If not a big fan of Korean, there is a little Asian food variation of yummy food ecosystem around this restaurant, so plenty of options.
V. M.
I’m a big fan of their fried chicken. Very fast and efficient staff. They usually have happy hour for meal+ drinks after 9pm so if you are looking for a late affordable dinner around the city, this would be the spot.
P. E.
The portion sizes were unexpectedly big but they had containers to let us bring the rest home so it was great! The food tasted good and there was a decent range to pick from.
D. S.
Wide variety menu for Korean dinner and late night food. Had some of the spicy fried chick with melted cheese myself and it was delicious, couldn't finish it all as the portions provided are nice and large. Service is friendly with water readily available to just grab for your table. Been here twice before on my visits to Brisbane and always seems full of people so don't expect a quite atmosphere but defiantly expect good food.
L.
25 for pork knuckle
13.5 for deep fired chicken
Great price and Great deal but Happy hr limited (8 to 9pm everyday)
A.
Maru's non BBQ area (ground floor) certainly does not give itself justice as their BBQ was delicious! The whole area wasn't as smoky and smelly as you'd expect like the other places as they're pretty smart to provide a baking paper. Yums
S. K. C.
Its KFC (Korean Fried Chicken) with bones is humongous, and better than finger lickin' good. So are the other dishes we ordered. One can have its complimentary side dishes of pickles refilled to your heart's content.
J. M. L.
My favourite go to Korean food. Their side dishes are good as well as their main dishes! Favourite take outs as well. Will never miss eating here when I’m in Brisbane.
B. “. S.
I've been here a few times now and have been impressed not only with the wide variety of dishes but how well they are all presented. Really generous serves and a nice kick for those who are adventurous to try the really spicy dishes. Always busy, but you'll normally get a a seat straight away. Check out my pic of the spicy seafood soup - yum!
P. Y. H.
Foods are good in general but side dishes are too sweet. But friendly staffs, nice vibe and great location.
J. C.
Really nice filling dinner, substantial serves and typical Korean flavours - meals are placed on the iPad so you literally get what you order, and the food came out super quickly. Friendly enough service despite how busy they were on a Monday night.
W. L.
We ordered combo A barbeque. It came with various meat cut which includes beef & pork, side dishes , 2 bowl of rice and bean stew soup. Marinated pork neck was a lil thicker than what i was used to but flavourful none theless. Spicy pork bibimbap was nice, seafood pancake was average though i like its presentation where it was served on a stone plate. Service was relatively quick and it was good that they have a call button on the table. Water is on self service basis. Kimchi stew soup is nice. I wish they had more options with the side dishes but they were generous with its portion & refill is available. Overall it was a good dinner.
P. M.
My favourite Korean restaurant so far! The service is absolutely great, the feel & atmosphere of the restaurant is fresh & the food is amazing! They have a decent range of vegetarian options aswell.
c. m.
Absolutely beautiful every single time. Have been going here religiously for years and the food/experience is spectacular every time! Great place to bring family and friends for a big social meal. Also, highly recommend the soju, makes for a great night haha!
Q.
If u have no idea about your dinner.
It would always be the best choice:)
Just remind, most of it’s share plate(like hot pot) is better than the other.
M. K.
Food nice though priced a bit high for what you get. Eat here with my Asian mates and get 1st class service. Eat here by myself and get ignored
B. W.
Bbq is available upstairs, they have great BBQ set available to choose from, price is reasonable. There isn't much smoke coming out from these pits, so its a plus, the choice of proteins are good quality. We were given a faulty bbq pit in the beginning, but they took good responsibility and gave us a new table quite quickly. Great ambience and service, can get really crowded during dinner.
J. W.
Great meat and side dishes. They also have a good selection of both alcoholic and nonalcoholic drinks
L. C.
The Fried Chicken was not overdone, they provided timely service and were polite. They accept eftpos but there is a slight surcharge. They have a lunch menu that ends at 3pm. Will come here again to make a more detailed review.
W. P.
Great food, fast service. We spend less than $120 here and 4 of us were well fed. 😄 highly recommended.
Y. A.
Really nice shop, an upstairs if you are going to eat Korean BBQ and downstairs for normal meals. Spicy Ziggle rice cakes, an amazing meal, for toppoki and cheese lovers~~~ set meals are very affordable and also come with nice servings of side dishes. A nice place to eat at, also good music taste, appealing to Kpop fans~
bbq lunch specials are so so worth it!!! so much meat for such a good price~!! maru is a great place to hang out, have kbbq, have soju and just unwind with friends and family!! lovely restaurant in brisbane city!!!
R. S.
We had take away dolshoek lunch box only. Fantastic experience though. Quick service, great value, amazing taste, will go back again.
J. M.
Food was amazing ! I had bbq with Tuesday’s offer. Meat was tasty and good portion.
Staff was so busy and it took a while to be served. Some were a bit rude but generally really nice place :) 10 points for the bbq !
J. H.
Very good Korean restaurant. The black soy bean noodles and fried chicken are most popular for kids. And the spicy tofu soup is my favourite.
橘.
Good services with clean environment. Fried chicken with Korean source are super delicious. Must order it or you will regret! Staffs are friendly. Decent price.
R. S.
Great Korean food. Fresh and fast service. Long wait times to get in during peak hours, however. Food is well worth it.
M.
Surprised. The meat was better than other KBBQ in the CBD. Probably because they are so busy it stays just right. Don't forget the perilla/Korean mixed vegetable leafs.
T. N.
Wagyu meat here is so good. I really like their cold beef noodle soup, best ive had in brisbane! Staff are super nice and friendly everytime we go :)
J. J.
Absolutely delicious! Great service and very happy with everything we ordered. We'll definitely be back!
吳.
Fried chicken and spicy pork bone soup so yummy 😆 Fast service
D. W.
Me and my girlfriend went there yesterday and had a really nice bbq. We chose the Combo A because we never did korean bbq before and this made our decision for the food selection so much easier. We enjoyed the beef and pork selection as well as the soup and side dishes. Unfortunately the grill under the table is very hot and not covered and my girlfriend burnt her knee a little, so just be a little bit careful there. All in all we had a great time!
P. G.
Best Korean barbecue in Brisbane CBD!
J. W.
Always a great experience here. The staff are super friendly and helpful, the food always leaves you happy, and the servings are generous. Prefer dining in usually, but ordered a takeaway dosirak last week and was super surprised by the high quality of the takeaway packaging - specially designed and made for the job.
D. L.
Good lunch. The restaurant has a wide environment and there are many choices of food. There are also lunch options. We chose two packages for the lunch. The restaurant has a lot of customers. It proves that the food quality is very good.
E. L.
Always busy whether is week day lunch or dinner. Staffs are efficient and friendly. Food served are good quality and tasty. Side dishes includes three dishes and are generous and delicious. Number 1 Korean in Brisbane CBD, highly recommended
P. H.
Love this Korean restaurant. Tasty food. Lunch specials on weekdays. I love the bibimbap here. Korean fried chicken is also great, and soju ! What more could you want?!
J. K.
What a great place this is. I would like to recommend the foods of this restaurant to Koreans who miss Korea and Australians who want to visit Korea. And the staff always showed me smiling and responded to me with a kind attitude.
B.
Delicious food. Good price. Friendly service
I ordered the fried chicken : really yummy. It was cooked with perfect crisp coating, not greasy at all and served with a fresh salad !😊Good generous portion. Very good value for money
K. B.
Amazing food and great variety. So quick to come out even when they're so busy! A new favourite!
J. D.
Party of 16, for 7pm, service prompt with smiles. Received our amazing meals with entrees, quickly. Food tasted superb and everyone commented how their meal tasted exceptional. The hustle and bustle mirrored how you would expect a Korean diner. Price good. Will definitely come back next time in Brisbane.
A. C.
Always managed to order the same thing when I come here (the fried chicken bibimbap) and it doesn’t disappoint! A little on the exxy side for Korean food. Place is always pretty busy so best to come early. Never tried the BBQ upstairs though. Staff are friendly.
K. T.
Nice Korean restaurant in the CBD. The service was friendly and quick. It was noisy and crowded on the Saturday night that I was there. The food was alright.
M. W.
Snappy service, great food and a super lunch menu. Typical of most venues, it's a little bit squeezy, but that's not an issue.

Very impressed with Maru, I know Korean style dining is very competitive in City area, especially in Elizabeth Street. However, Maru can still stand out and manage to have a long line during peak hours. The food is good, but is not over outstandingly good, but they have variety. If your group has 1 or 2 people just can't accept Korean food, they can have rips and chips. Moreover, I feel they just just a bit more tidy than the other Korean restaurant in the same street.
Q.
The price is ok, but the taste is too sweet for soup dishes..as usual, i ordered beef soup, it is tooo sweet, put too much sugar into it.. The authentic Korean dish is not like this. a bit disappointed! If you are a diabetes, do not go there.
K.
Nice Korean restaurant, cheaper than a lot of Korean restaurant with good food.
A. K.
Always a go to for Korean food. Peak time is always busy, but they tell you how long you have to wait which is good. Efficient service. Lovely ambiance. Great for groups.
K. R.
busy restaurant with a big menu. the stone bibimbap bowls are huge and delicious. they come out with some sides like slaw, kimchi & tofu. the chive pancake is good too. they surcharge if you pay by card.
R. L.
Great food and excellent service!
P. D.
Excellent food and service. Not the cheapest meal but well worth the price.
J. A.
We ordered the boneless spicy chicken which was amazing along with a pork soup which was a bit spicy. The food tasted great apart of a pink looking dish which tasted extremely sour. Everything else was great though. It does get busy though so come inas early as possible. Service is fast and friendly.
L. N.
So delicious and servings are really generous. Even though it's super busy, service was very good. Get in early or book ahead
M. W.
Fantastic food and friendly staff. I can recommend taking large groups of friends here for a nice dinner and some drinks. The pickled daikon radish and kimchi are amazing, as they give you all you want when you get the BBQ so don't forget to use them!
S. L. M.
I LOVE the food at Maru, but I wish the service was a little better. The BBQ is excellent (though not charcoal) but the paper strips they give you are too small. Sometimes we've been put on a table that was too small for the group - ridiculous when you see how many dishes are on the table - but the quality of the food will keep me coming back.
The chive pancake is delicious, and the BBQ combo sets are good value and extremely tasty. If a charcoal BBQ place (RIP Obaltan) opens up then it'll probably win me over, but until then Maru is the best in the city.
R. O.
Went here for lunch and it was amazing! Service was fast, food was delicious and the staff were friendly! Definitely going back there again! (Picture of seafood soft tofu soup).
D. S.
Lots of fun and excellent quality meats. Gluten free options available for BBQ with all non-marinated meats being gluten free. There were some other dishes that may have been gluten free as well, but the bbq was so good I didn't try to find out :)
S. R.
Casual Korean eatery, great for large groups. We were a group of 7 adults and 3 kids and the bill was barely $200. Gather a good crowd, order heartily and share in the joys of a good feed around a large table.
R. H.
Friendly staff, clean and tidy. Marinated Pork Neck was so good you have to try it. Puchimge Kimchi was good. Ordering on the tablet at the table was easy. Staff changed our grill when we ordered more meat. Highly recommended.
C. N.
Very accommodating to walk ins, the food came out really fast and the service was nice as well
D. C.
Nice restaurant, upstairs is sit down bbq, the floor is a little slippery be careful, the food is fresh and cooking on the table can be fun, the smoke extraction is a little non existent but really it didn't impact the meal.
D. T.
As great as always, gotta love the authentic dining experience, specially the BBQ tables !!
S. B.
Tried the spicy pork kimchi soup and fried chicken. Both were yum!
R. S.
Average quality food. Given the portion of food, a little bit expensive.
A. B.
Great place for a fun night with friends, loved the food and atmosphere. Even though it was busy and a line up out the front, it moved quickly and wasn't too long before we were inside and being served. We ate upstairs at the grill tables and ordered from a touch screen mounted on the end of the table and the food arrived very quickly. Overall great time.
S. H.
Order too much lol. The rice wine is strange maybe because we order the green grapes. The meat is good but not special. But the service is average
B. M.
My partner and I went to Maru last night for dinner and everything was perfect
Amazing food, good service and prices !
We will definitely come back :)
M. K.
Was an extremely worthwhile trip with delicious food. The service was also exemplary. Definitely worth the spend - I go back here always for the delicious spicy rice cakes - tteokbokki is a classic!
R. S.
Have been to Maru at least 8 times over the last 3 years. Their service had been ok in the past, but I do not know what the management has done but this visit, we had the best vibes and service. The service staff were always smiling and willing to go the extra mile. The food as well was top notch, really great especially their stewed beef! Overall a great experience. (Visited on the 17/3/21 at around 7.30pm)

Best Korean Restaurant, food, price and staff.
G. R.
I really loved this place! I've actually never eaten Korean food before, and I was so pleased!! The service was very efficient, the food came quickly, and the portions are very generous considering how affordable it is. There are lots of options, even some vegetarian/vegan ones. I would definitely recommend and go here again!!!
J. S.
If you wanna try the best Korean food, maru is highly recommended.
K. P.
Delicious food and very reasonably priced. Highly recommend
R. W.
Great place in Brisbane to get a decent priced big meal and a busy atmosphere
Y. M.
Amazing Korean food, great service , good pricing .....love it...
D. R.
Wow! Must try place to eat when in Brisbane. Try the combo set C, Wagyu beef.
Ambiance - 8/10
Servers - 7/10
FOOD - 10/10
E. J.
Nice korean food but a little bit sweeter than genuine korean style. I think food there is less spicy.
Z.
Best Korean BBQ I've had in a while, the Bibimbap are a must ! Reasonably priced, large servings and great atmosphere as soon as you step in ! I would 100% recommend.
P. H.
Great location for people staying in Brisbane. I got a chicken bowl and some of the Korean sweet wine. Was a great vibe in the place. Good value and am planning to go back to try the BBQ aspect as it looked good too. Wouldn't recommend the dumplings. Don't accept flybuys.
C.
Always amazing!! 현송 who help me and my co-workers was amazing !! Love coming to Maru and always recommend to all my friends and acquaintances !! Thank you so much
b.
delicious food, quick, efficient and attentive service. we had a slight mix-up with the seating and the staff were super forgiving and were quick to keep everything under control. would definitely recommend!!
J. C.
The food is really nice and the environment is good... maybe a little update to the scenery would do a lot to the experience.
A.
I am a big fan of Korean food, loved the service and the quickest meal I've ever received.
S. N.
Fast and friendly service, quality meat and wide selection of dishes. Can eat in solo or in large groups. The fried chicken was to die for!
P. D.
I am a huge fan of Korean food and Maru is always in my top list of a go-to places.
K. T.
This is one of my favourite korean restaurants in Brisbane. I always have a craving to go here and get my spicy beef soup. They have a large selection of authentic Korean dishes, good atmosphere and even have kbbq that everyone loves. Low prices for high quality food. Must try if you love Korean food.
T. E.
Pretty delicious Korean barbecue, the homemade ssamjang sauce is so delicious it could be a main. Nice atmosphere and super quick service. However the pork was not my favourite but the beef choices are amazing.
C. T.
Fast service, great food. The bibimbap is always a delight to eat and free refills available for the side dishes.
S. R.
Excellent Korean food right in the heart of Brisbane. Didn't try the BBQ this time but the a la carte food was excellent. Cheese tteokbokki and cream fried chicken dosirak was my favourite, Bibimbap also excellent - would have even been better if it had baked into the pot. Will be back!
S. S.
Good food and good atmosphere. It's good for all couples, family or gatherings
N. L.
Service was kind of slow but very nice and polite. Food was great
S. B.
Absolutely amazing food and really lovely staff.
We came in for my son's 21st bday dinner.
We ordered 2 starters, a kids pork cutlets (massive) and 3 meals to share. All were fantastic. The spicy fried bone in chicken is insanely good and the kelp noodle side was so unique but beautiful.
Everything was quick and delicious. Also had the draught beer , plum wine and 2 soju the peach and blueberry(both lovely).
Couldn't fault the food, staff or atmosphere it was all amazing. Such a wonderful restaurant, we will definitely return next time we are in Brisbane.
C. R.
My partner and I always go here. Always such fast service and delicious food. The only negative is that it isn’t consistent (and we have eaten here over 10 times) sometimes rice / soup comes with our meal and sometimes we have to order it.
M. T.
great food and friendly staff thank you guys
H. R.
Great for groups, eyes are always bigger than my stomach.
Y. S.
This restaurant serve very authentic Korean food, the staff are friendly and helpful. Price are not expensive and generous serving portion.
I. M.
My family and I absolutely love this place! Best South Korean food! Absolutely delicious
Staff are so nice and friendly, amazing atmosphere!!! I come here 1 a month at least! Thanks
C. B.
The meat served here is quite nice however rather than being able to cook our food on the typical Korean BBQ grill, we were given hot plates on a gas burner. Not really the same experience as food took too long to cook to get to the charred-BBQ look and taste.
J. S.
brilliant food and friendly staff, this is my go to for korean bbq.
C. L.
the fastest service restaurant ! always busy and good food.
service improving. great place with friends
P. G.
Amazing quality of beef (mb7+) and Pork. We had not dined at a traditional Korean BBQ before - staff were very helpful on how to operate everything and what food goes with what side. Portions were huge and very high quality. We will be returning here for sure.
B. N.
As a vegetarian, I was a little nervous that Maru wouldn’t have many veggie options. But alas, there were several and they were delicious. I had the chive pancakes and stone bowl bibimbap with vegetables. It was so delicious and service was so fast. Thanks Maru! Yum!
H. B.
Lovely food for a decent price for the serving size and wonderful service.

I was introduced to the world of Korean Barbeque for the first time with a few of my work friends. We came in by train to Central station, Brisbane and it was a short 7 minute walk and easy to find the venue. Well lit inside but with great atmosphere and ambience. We were greeted with a smile and they were more than happy to show us where to go for the Korean BBQ option and we were seated quickly. When you get to your table there is a tablet that you easily order from and you can add things at any time. We ordered the Option B Korean BBQ pack which comes with an assortment of beautiful meats including wagyu beef, pork neck/belly and marinated pork belly as well as sides of rice, garnishes and sauces. The food was divine and you could cook it to how you preference. The staff were absolutely lovely and very efficient and accommodating. When we asked for an extra plate and some table water, they instantly got it for us. I couldn't recommend Maru any higher. If you haven't been, you are missing out! Thank you Maru!
D. S.
Offers delicious Korean, do it your self bbq meat. Unless you do not have the ability to cook, the meat that you can cook its very delicious and is tender. The kitchen also provides other alternative if you are not a meat eater.
Definitely would recommend
C. R. (.
Very fresh and good quality food. Satff are very friendly... very yummy
I.
The meat prices are on the higher range, but understandably so, since they provide high quality and perfectly marinated meat! It gets really busy and loud on a Saturday night too.
R. C.
Love Maru. I go here everytime I'm in Brisbane and I love the food so much I forget to take the obligatory photo until I'm half way done.
Beware there is usually a wait.

This restaurant is Awesome. We ordered so much food and couldn't finish it all, but it was worth it. Delish peoples

Good Food, good BBQ.But i found one restructured beef .next time I only try pork

We made sure we went to a proper Korean bbq restaurant while we had access to them on holidays. The staff were excellent and the food was very wonderful. We had a very enjoyable time. No wonder they are voted the #1 Korean restaurant in Brisbane. What a great place this is. We came to have late dinner and the only reason why we chose this place was its proximity to our hotel, nonetheless we left satisfied and happy. Nice traditional dishes and some brave innovations made us all say: what a good experience. Highly recommended.
A. W.
Wagyu meat was delicious. First time trying Korean bbq and I would totally go again!

I love this place. The service is impeccable and the food is always delicious.

This is one of my favorite Korean restaurants in Brisbane. I love the wide variety of food options, the service is quick, the restaurant is nice and big. I would recommend it to anyone that loves Korean. I went there 2 days in a row having 2 different dishes. Considering the authenticity of the taste (not tweaked to serve local tastebud but true to their heritage) it is just natural that multiple visits are inevitable. Highly recommended
K. L.
The original and the best. Stable quality, decent prices. Covid safe
R. P.
Good food. Cook your own food on a bbq in the table. Fun way to eat. Had a set menu and was so full when I left. Value for money!
a. p.
Went for lunch. Had great specials. Tastey as
V. H.
best korean BBQ in south east QLD, the have very big space, service is very good, food is good. the downside its not disabled friendly, long stairs up and no lift
M. K.
This is the first Korean restaurant I've ever been to. My best friend took me and my husband there.
Super nice, affordable food. Very interesting and different alcohol beverages.
M. B.
Staff were very attentive and friendly! Food was deliciously full of flavour! Beautiful atmosphere and family friendly (took my 20month old!) Take someone who has been before and knows how to cook 😂👌my sister walked us through the amazing BBQ experience!
G. G.
We had the bibimbap (beef and spicy pork). Both were tasty and filling but, reflecting the price, the quality of the meats was not great.
P. D.
Food was very quick to arrive and prices aren't unreasonable at all for the city, worked out to be about $25/each for the 4 of us to have meals, a soft drink and a side order of chicken wings. You could do a lot worse than eat food here if you're in the city. Only thing I'd suggest would be hot rice on the hot plates, rather than cold rice on the hot plates.
S. J.
BEST Korean restaurant in Brisbane!!
Not only tasty but good quality of meal.
And they also have very valuable daily specials !
Always busy but never got the meals late.
Food get to be served very quick and never failed.
And I cannot talk about Maru without two amazing staffs Logan and Yuka.
They are absolutely amazing. I wish theres other words to describe them. They are very polite and very friendly with smile. Always make me and my friends feel welcomed.
They are one of the reasons that I'm keep coming back to Maru to be honest.
I really appreciate their hospitality and great food.
Thank you Maru !
Keep up the good work please ❤
B. P.
Great service and better noms. This place is a Brisbane must! ^_^
d. k.
Excellent quality of meats, great selection of beverages and side dishes to satisfy anyone, and friendly service all around. Price is indeed a little high but is easily worth it and would return again.
J. H.
Busy fun vibe and fantastic food!! Definitely worth queuing for ...which I hardly ever say because ADHD means I despise waiting. So, says a lot about the experience that I would do it again.
S. B.
Amazing food, really of good variety, and fairly priced. An absolute must if you want good Korean food in Brisbane. The service is amazing and caters for all tastes. Have nothing but good experiences here.
D. J.
Great food, Amazing staff and service. Couldn’t go back to eat again as had to travel back to Victoria. I would highly recommend it to anyone who loves Korean food and if you haven’t tried so far then please go and find out yourself!
T. K.
Very busy place but with good Korean food. The lunch menu is within reasonable price in the city.
K. C.
Very enjoyable night of dining. Thanks to the cooperative staff explaining the correct use of the table barbeque. The Beef Combo C was very enjoyable, so tender and great with all the various dips. Getting to really like the mix of Korean BBQ cuisine at Maru. Highly recommended dining option!
C. S.
Grab a few mates and go at 9pm for their $15 Korean fried chicken deal! Very worth, and the chicken is pretty good too
J. V.
BBQ Korean Restaurant in Brisbane center, the Wagyu beef combo was amazing ! We really loved this korean experience
T. N.
Chicken is delicious and full of flavour, fresh calamari rings, nice spring rolls.
They just forgot the cutlery when we got takeaway to take to Club Minx downstairs
R. S.
The food is always very delicious with generous portions for the price paid. Service is quick so if you are hungry this is the best place to go rather than the food court. Lunch specials are always full of surprises with many deals. You will never regret- especially their Korean Bbq.
C. G.
Fantastic yummy food in a bustling busy restaurant. Service wS friendly and efficient. There's a good reason why this place is so popular. I had the beef bibimbap in the stone bowl. Delicious crunchy yummy rice wherever sticks to the bowl.
N. C.
Good food, great value, super quick service. I never leave this place hungry. Awesome Korean food. You can get bbq but I had the regular menu. I got the curry chicken stone bowl it is nice and warm (great for winter) the curry was very tasty and the portions are generous. They also have weekday lunch specials that are great, I just wish I worked in the city so I could take advantage of them.
A. W.
Loved it! Lots of fun for a group to enjoy together
S. M. C.
My partner and I love coming here. The staff are great. It's always busy, but we never have to wait long for a table or service. I have tried both the regular menu and the BBQ. Both are great. They also have lunch specials which are very affordable.
S. E.
This has turned into our go to Korean place. It's always super busy however the food is tasty and the service is good. Our Korean friends even like this place which speaks loads. Occasionally a small line up to get a table but the line moves fast so it's never a problem. The soups and bento style meals are always tasty and great value for money. We always leave satisfied. Would def recommend.
A. W.
A modest and very well organised korean restaurant in Elizabeth St. Maru has superb table service. The management are attentive and the staff are very friendly.
We ate Gopchang (Grilled Beef Small Intestines) cooked at your table on a portable table grill. Very very tasty. Staff will help you if you aren't familiar with the cooking technique. We also ate nengmyeon or cold soba noodles with chilli and cucumber. Finally, we also ate cheese ttokbeokki (chilli sauce rice cakes with melted tasty cheese) this was miles better than Korilla's effort. Cannot recommend this restaurant strongly enough. Must go.
J. Y.
Recommended!
Easy to find. Usual price, but $1 surcharge for card under $20 in total.
I ordered “육쌈비빔냉면” and it was quite good. Many Korean restaurants have strong taste, but the food here was quite delightful. The meat was tender and savoury properly and the noodle was also good.
W. L.
great food, good service, cheap drinks, pretty value. lots of fun!

Everytime I come here I am beyond impressed. The staff are so kind and helpful and the food is always amazing. I recommend Wednesday nights hot plate specials which I've been coming to for years. Theres pork belly and vegetables, or tripe. I am personally a pork belly fan. I also recommend their Seafood Noodle soup which you can have as a meal or to share, and if you want to share the Marinated Beef and Octopus Hot Pot is great. All of the beef soups are amazing. And if that doesn't sell you, the fried chicken is an easy choice. If you're going in for lunch the desirable is a plentiful meal. Finally, this is the place that introduced me to soju. And I will always be thankful for that. Any time someone from out of town comes to Brisbane, they ask to come here after seeing all of my instagrams stories of the beautiful food and great atmosphere that is created in this restaurant.
K. L.
Food is so tasty fresh. Strongly recommend if you want to taste Korean authentic food.
R. F.
Tasty korean food with a decent selection. Yummy bibimbap.
C.
Awesome meals! Quick service you cannot go past their soups.

Great Korean food
We had a really fantastic Friday night Korean dinner at this popular restaurant. We had to queue for a table but luckily we didn't have to wait too long. The food was delicious, the portions were generous and the prices were reasonable. Even though the restaurant was packed, our food came out very quickly. We were also able to bring our own bottle of wine which was a plus!
J. M.
Food was delicious, service was very quick and staff were friendly and attentive. Highly recommend for families, groups or singles for a tasty, filling meal in a relaxed atmosphere.
T. T. T.
Pretty good Korean food here. Been a few times now. Service is pretty good also. They get very busy almost every night and during the lunch hours when I’ve been there. Got the weekly pork bbq special once, and the beef bbq special once too. And both times the meats were good quality, however very small portion sizes. And the side dishes aren’t nearly as good (or numerous) as you’d get if you were in Seoul and ordered the same thing. However it’s a pretty good Korean restaurant and I’d go back.
e.
Good food, great service. Come here a lot.
H. N.
Was amazing, so funny, food was delicious, staff very friendly
M. T.
A place which does Korean food well. Good late night deals. A good place to catch with with friends and drink soju.
J. l.
Only issue I have is the staff/service. Very poor communication (in english) and not very professional, occasionally rude even.
Have dined at maru very regularly the past few years. The food is pretty good and fairly consistent - kept me coming back the despite the subpar service.
V. S.
Been here heaps of times and the food always slaps
C. D.
Amazing food, quick service and well priced. Highly recommend going here.
L. H. T.
Amazing place, Matt and I have a good time here. Definitely one of the best in town. We get there early before lunch time to avoid the crowd.
K. S.
Great food. Great value, food always come very quickly and garnish dishes are available.
A. S.
Amazing Korean food. They have wide variety of different dishes from hotpot, grilled, fried and even BBQ options. You have to try their 'Dosirak', so delicious! Already tried most of their dish, they're all equally good.
Always try to pop in here everytime we're in Brisbane. The staff were always friendly and helpful, and the service is always great.
N.
A great Korean barbecue place, the food here has always been amazing. I cannot speak for the upper stairs level where you order a platter of different variety of meat and cook them on your table grill. The ground floor the food is made and cooked for you, the portion sizes are huge for the price you pay and a good selection of food and drinks are available.
B. M.
Great sushi, wonderful and varied menu of cooked Japanese food and excellent and friendly service. Very busy and a great vibe and the sushi chefs don't stop for a second. Well worth a visit and we will be back before we leave Noosa. Loved our meal so much last night, we went back again tonight... And in all likelihood we’ll probably end up there again sometime tomorrow! Amazing!
I. T.
My and my fiancé are regular customers in this place. One of the best South Korean restaurants in Brisbane.
Unique and delicious food. Can’t miss this if you really like Korean Food. 🤤
N. A.
Great food. Problem having 2 tablets to order for one large table. No one in our party of nine knew whose food was whose as the dishes (and there were a lot) were just dropped on the table which led to a little confusion with the bill. Prices were okay. Food quality was good. Will go there again.
T. C.
Really Good Food and great friendly staff.
B.
Delicious food and great service even when the place was at full capacity. My only gripe was that it was very difficult to convince the staff to allow us to split the bill.
N. G.
The food was delicious! As a group we were well catered for. Service was good and the buzzers on the table were good... but I am used to wait staff checking on the table every and then a refilling drinks as needed this does not happen here... So just keep that in mind if you visit. Price was very good. Overall a great experience.
W. J.
Last Friday night, had a group of 5 people in second floor, was greeted by the shy boy with a tatoo on wrist upon arrival, who was very kindy and professionally, to serve us and making us feel welcome. I recommend here. Services and meats were very excellent.
X.
Great Korean BBQ restaurant. Excellent customer service, polite, helpful and quick. Definitely reccomend to everyone and can't wait to be back!
P.
This is one of our favorites restaurants in Brisbane.
Good food and professional and efficient staff.
The only objection that I have is that the waiters like to put their fingers inside of the bowls and dishes while they are serving the food and they like to give the cutlery touching with their fingers in the side destined for eating.
It isn't not hygienic at all and it doesn't make me feel comfortable when I eat there.
Staff need more training in hospitality sector in manners of carrying the dishes.
Improving these little details, it is the best restaurant in Brisbane definitely.
R. B.
Maru is a very convenient restaurant and the food is delicious the staff are courteous and friendly.
L. C.
Decent Korean cuisine
T. S.
10/10... best dining experience we have had awhile
E. N.
Excellent food, great atmosphere and customer service. I will come back again and recommend to people.
H. W.
Delicious food. Great, fast service and great atmosphere to chat and enjoy a leisurely paced meal. Tablets at the table for easy digital ordering (avoiding embarrassing mispronunciations) Loved it!
P. “. G.
We were taken here by a Korean friend. It was a true cross ethnic experience. Genuine Korean food and a great atmosphere. I would recommend this to everyone wanting the real deal. Great menu choice and some things I'd never seen in any good court etc
M. N.
We are staying literally across the street at the Hilton. Quick service (plus they have a call button at each table in case you need to get any server’s attention). BBQ was good - we ordered the short rib beef and agree with previous reviews that there is no seasoning whatsoever. We took that as a positive because Korean food can be really high in sodium! Seafood pancake was really delicious and had seafood in almost every single bite. The high rating goes towards the service, seafood pancake and meat. The ban chan was REALLY bland, and they didn’t have a great selection. The Kim chi wasn’t the best we’ve had. The sides help to make the entire experience, so it was a bummer they weren’t better. Overall, a positive experience!
P. H.
Nice Korean food, really enjoyed it. Always a lot of people there.
A. W.
Wagyu meat was delicious. First time trying Korean bbq and I would totally go again!
A. w. A.
This is my Go-To Korean restaurant in the heart of CBD. Sometimes there is a wait for a table as they always get busy, however the wait is worth it. The service is always fast, and the food is just absolutely amazing. It is always good to go with a group of friends or family. Highly recommend
S. T.
Super fast and lovely service! Great prices and large portion size. Everything on the menu looks great and the atmosphere is awesome. Highly recommended if you are after Korean in the heart or Brisbane!
N. P.
Wonderful and friendly staff and excellent food. A friend and I chose to sit upstairs where you can BBQ our own meat and vegetables. The service was very quick; after we had been seated and placed out order, after about 5 minutes they meat was already on our table. If you want great tasting Wagyu beef and fast and friendly staff, then I recommend Maru Korean BBQ.
T. H.
Try the hot pot! Quick service. Yummy food
B. W.
Great food, generous portion sizes and fast service
D. G.
Been here 4 times already and loved it every time
S. A.
It's a little crazy in there, but it's super fast service. The kimchi was sweet and spicy not too tangy. The bibimbap was really good. It actually was better the longer it's in the bowl because you continue to get the crispy rice at the bottom. Great friend chicken!
N. S.
Awesome food and great staff. Prices are a bit high for some of the simpler things on the menu but overall Mary has amazingly consistent food which never fails to disappoint me. The bibimbaps (hot stone bowls) that they make are excellent and I’d recommend trying the spicy fried chicken bowl, which isn’t very spicy but tastes great.
M. C.
selection of food is great, service was average. was recommend by a friend said where we can find the most authentic Korean food. I would say, it's a bit of over priced for what they can offer. There are plenty of other options in the area for tasty and authentic Korean cuisine.
S. C.
The food is sooo good here! The service is fast and I love it every time I go in and when I order for takeaway.
k. c.
We are group of 5 and we had good time in Maru. Friendly staffs and fabulous food.
The only problem we were waited 30 minutes for our BBQ table. But the staff did follow up and 'calm' us every 5-10 minutes.
Once we got our table, everything changed to become fantastic.
Recommend for a small group of friend to have little gathering.
D. B.
Good experience, very friendly and prompt staff. Awesome food.
We did the BBQ and the wagyu was amazing, alongside the chicken dishes we ordered.

The Wagyu BBQ set just melt in your mouth. The fried chickens are addictive . These guys take the COVID social distancing very seriously. Service mostly friendly although sometime some staff need to smile.

Great food n plenty of it. Great prices 👍

We entered at a busy time and didn't know we needed a number from downstairs (we went to the upstairs BBQ), but we were seated in about 10 minutes. The set menu is well priced for how much you get - we could barely finish it. Very good quality meats.

Fantastic Korean BBQ! Obsessed with the seaweed side dish! The Wagyu combo C is a must!

Food is great, beef is very tender. The place can get busy so reserve a table where possible.

We made sure we went to a proper Korean bbq restaurant while we had access to them on holidays. The staff were excellent and the food was very wonderful. We had a very enjoyable time. No wonder they are voted the #1 Korean restaurant in …

Chicken is delicious and full of flavour, fresh calamari rings, nice spring rolls. …

I was introduced to the world of Korean Barbeque for the first time with a few of my work friends. We came in by train to Central station, Brisbane and it was a short 7 minute walk and easy to find the venue. Well lit inside but with great …

Great food. Friendly service. Not badly priced.

Delicious authentic food, super friendly and efficient staff.

I have been spoiled by some of the best Korean BBQs in Sydney, but this one still ranks near the top. If there was a 4.5, I would rate it there. The good: generous serving sizes, very responsive service, and reasonable prices (may seem high to those not used to Korean BBQ). The bad... not the widest selection of meats, and many of the traditional marinades are absent. I also found the lack of extraction fans a bit odd, but the smoke wasn't too bad.
V. T.
Service is prompt. Customers able to choose between bbq options or normal dining.

Amazing BBQ experience. I have been here early evening & late night and it's always packed. I have eaten here about 10 times and wont fo any where else for a true Korean experience. And you know it's good as it's full of Koreans which is always the best indication of a good Korean restaurant.
The food is excellent and the variety is impeccable.
One down side is the wine selection. We dont all drink beer. A larger variety would be great.
J. R.
I tried black bean noodles and it was disappointing.
Sauce was a bit dry and noodles were too soft so it didn't give good combination there.
It defo didn't worth near 16aud. I believe they could do better on this dish.
Staff were prompt and good service.

Fantastic! Amazing service. Great hospitality for children. Gave use juice (without having to pay for it) for our daughter and kid friendly crockery. Loved one of the side dishes so they brought us more. Everything was so delicious and came out so full. Will defiantly be back and will be recommending.

Quick service, fresh ingredients delicious.

Serving portions are large, great value, fried chicken is always on point and service is both quick and friendly. Especially good for students after school with the half price discount!

Very nice food, personnel very polite and fast

One of the popular Korean barbecue restaurants in the Brisbane CBD, the restaurant was packed when we came in and there were so many people. The scent of fresh meat being grilled unto the plates were absolutely scrumptious, and the team members were so gracious and helpful in cleaning the plates regularly and also helping us cook the meat as well. Great staff, awesome vibes.

Went on a voucher for a banquet. You will not go home hungry, they'll keep bringing food until you say stop. Very tasty, just make sure you break up the BBQ meats by getting into the sides as well. Friendly service. Overall we had a great time!

Stone-rice is the best!!
S. C.
Great food and great service. Liked the place although the lighting was a little out of character...a warmer light would make the place more cozy, welcoming. Otherwise great place and good value.

What a great place this is. We came to have late dinner and the only reason why we chose this place was its proximity to our hotel, nonetheless we left satisfied and happy. Nice traditional dishes and some brave innovations made us all say: what a good experience. Highly recommended.
A.
Try busy, no explanation of what to do or what the base side given are. Food was nice, limited options for those that can only eat fish or vegiterian, but those meals are huge! So you can't starve. Great experience. Tight fit seating for large adults.

I came on a Thursday night with my friend, I loved the environment walking in it was very different and I felt I was in Korea the lady staff greeted me with 안녕하세요 then hello, we were shown to our table upstairs i loved the design and ordering our food we cooked ourselves was hilarious ( I was cutting the meat while still raw, till the staff came over laughing showing me the proper way), food was great. Just writing this review made me hungry again.... 배고픈데 ㅠㅠ
J. P.
Ziggle wagyu beef is amazing! Not overly sweet the right touch of smoky. The stir fried cabbage, scallion was the perfect amount to give balance to the meat. The staff were friendly and served us promptly even though we came in late. Looking forward to to trying other dishes!
K. W.
Always great food excellent customer service

A nice an modern version of Korean restaurant. A long list of menu to choose from, which I don't particularly like as it seems they don't specialise any. But the food is usually delicious, side dish of served kimchi was fantastic last time (Sep 2019) - a rarely in an age if everyThing being out-sourced.
It can be very noisy. There is another floor upstairs.
L. B.
Food is great, beef is very tender. The place can get busy so reserve a table where possible.
T. N.
Not bad, just not great. Quality has gone down, yet price has gone up and staff not so friendly and always in a rush.
I used to really love Maru but now I don't enjoy it as much. I will go here if Bull Bar, Wara Wara or MadTongSan are full.
H. I.
went there couple weeks ago, didn't think it was a busy restaurant so we had to wait outside for atleast 10min to just get inside and once you're inside have to wait another 5-10min to be seated but it was fine. food was amazing!! i was struggling HARD to finish it. the chop stick were metal which was so bad!! price of everything was soo two $82 for two people with 2 soups, kimchi, and other 4 meals plus whole plate of different meat
-recommend - before going there call them and ask if they are busy because if not you will properly wait 15min to be seated
-change the chopstick omg!
apart from all that i will still go back

Great food and drink, but too crowded, no free space :(
G. H.
Good Korean food not the best but close enough!
M. M. T.
Always go and eat there since last 6 years. No doubt about food. Food are delicious and yummy. But sometimes it is hard to order food as all waiters and waitresses never look at the customers, and tables are small. Apart from it, it is a good restaurant.
Y. D. D.
Great food, quick service..definitely recommended.
J. B.
Great value, great taste. Love the sweet chilli chicken. Although, when I asked the waiter to get us some water for the table, he told me I had to get up myself and get it... a WAITER said this to me. What's the point of having waiters if they don't WAIT on you?
Also, PLEASE stop using plastic straws. No one I sit with uses them and they are a terrible waste of resource that has a very negative impact on the environment.
S. A.
One of the best Korean Restaurant in town! Big portion, reasonable price. They got special price on some days as well. Their $6 side korean fried chicken is the winner for me. Worth to try!

I had a hot bowl here featuring very delicious bulgogi beef and it did not disappoint. It came out with heaps of kimchi lots of pickled veggies and this delicious coleslaw-like salad.
It's a generous portion of food for lunch with change from $15.

Busy night on a Friday, but they were able to seat our table of 10 in less than 30 minutes. The beef was amazing. Had some overcooked food from the menu that was sent back, and had to be sent back again because it was overcooked again. Overall though, a good experience.

Me and my group of mates live in the Gold Coast, and make the effort to come into Brisbane just for Maru. Best korean bbq around, excellent service, huge servings, and a great price. 10 bucks for a massive lunch, absolute steal. Love it here, will be returning for years to come.
R. H.
Great buffest with quality meat! Love it ... I went there with my friends. We order a bucket of beers and meat combo. The meat came in a good size, not too think and not too thin. Staffs walked around to see what we need and they will change a paper in the grill evertime that they saw it turned dark. Really enjoy the night.
J. Z.
really really good tasty and friendly stuffs
J.
Excellent quality meats. Wish it was a little cheaper though.

Great place to come with friends. Quick friendly service. Second visit, loved it even more.. entertaining and the whole group enjoyed all the food.. didn't leave a drop behind. Will be back.

ALWAYS A WONDERFUL DINING EXPERIENCE AT THIS PLACE. Happy to bring friends and family over. Good job to the chef, staff and managers of this diner.
J. B.
We sat at the BBQ tables and ordered combo C which was a mix of Waygu beef option. The combo came with some sides, soup and rice and the only additional item we ordered was the lettuce/cabbage to use as wraps. The meat was melt in your mouth good, service was great as well with a button on your table you press for quick assistance.

Don't try to challenge your spicyness. We ordered a boneless chicken with sweet chilli flavor which was only one star of hotness on the menu, asked if can be more spicy, freaking hell , it was insanely hot, from one star all the way jumped to five star. Then had to leave it aside and ordered another fried chicken with original flavor but this one was lack of saltyness. Very disappointed with the food even it has such a good reputation.

My go to Korean food place in brisbane cbd. Try their beef noodle soup which is a bit spicy and bibimbap which is made of rice, meat and some veggies. You can also try their pancake. Don't forget to order some Korean soju to experience the ultimate Korean food feeling. Place can get really busy and often people cue up to get a seat. My only concern is their toilets, sometimes it could be a bit dirty. But overall a 5 star from me for giving us the finest Korean food experience in brisbane. Keep up the good work.
A. E.
Great food, great service. Food always arrives quickly once ordered. If you can, ask for a table upstairs. Much quieter and nicer atmosphere.
W. L.
We ordered combo A and altho marinated meat was my favourite, the other meats were perfect and melted in my mouth. The food was a 4/5 but the service impressed me so much it got a 5/5, dk his name but this male waiter was such a diligent worker that he took the initiative to replace our baking sheet and also got a new set of utensils for the table next to us when he heard her drop her spoon. Promote this dude

At 11:30am we were led upstairs which is the BBQ portion of the restaurant. We ordered the wagyu set which is $89 for two people. The meat quality is amazing - I have eaten wagyu that cost 2-3 times more and I find Maru's wagyu is on par if not better than those. The meat melts in your mouth and this is certainly one of the best korean BBQ I have eaten. Will certainly be back next time I am in Brisbane!

One of my favourite restaurants near Queen st. Fast service and great food for a reasonable price - especially during their lunch specials. The portion sizes are awesome and you get value for your money. The setting is very laid-back with enough space and kpop playing on the tvs - overall perfect for lunch and dinner.
F. C.
We had wagyu here it was really good. The accompaniment are good as well. The place needs a good exhaust fan though as you will come out of the place smelling like bbq. Be sure to book ahead as it can get really packed here. Service was alright, had to push the call button few times.
J. H.
Good service and good food. What more can u ask for

Good sized sashimi bento with good quality fish. The tuna was some of the best I have had in some time.

Always my go-to if I'm craving Korean food in the Brisbane CBD, Maru has been serving outstanding quality Korean for years. Their food is always delicious and comes out fast - they're extremely well priced too. I highly recommend the spicy chicken bibimbap. Maru provides bottomless kimchi and sides as a fantastic bonus. The staff are really friendly and attentive and the place is kept clean. Never had a bad experience.

Amazing food ,very cheap, but high quality, very kind korean staff.
I love this restaurant and highly recommend .

Korean style fast food. The portion sizes are large. The service is fast. They also offer take away. It is not fine dining
D. Y.
Excellent food and was so much fun as a group. Our friend knew how to cook everything so it easy. I didn't think I'd like it but just loved it. BYO with $3 cover charge per glass. Upstairs has the grills and down stairs alcarte. Fresh food grilled and lovely side dishes. A must try😀
S. A.
Good food, good service, it's generally very busy. Nothing to complain about. The only reason it isn't 5 stars is because I only give 5 stars to a very, very selective few.
A solid staple of mine, I'm back here often.

Good food good vibes, had spicy pork with rice , egg was cold but service was fast.
M. S.
The tables are too small but the food is delicious. The price is great and the service friendly. Would recommend to any body. Had my son's 27 birthday there great atmosphere.
K. B.
Really really great bbq. Meat tastes amazing and it was worth every penny. Would recommend. The pork belly is a must as well as the brisket.
J. K.
Definitively one of the most consistent Korean BBQ places in Brisbane. One of my favourites.
E. C.
Worth a visit if you are looking for Korean food in Brisbane. Offers bbq. I would say the food is quite heavily seasoned and I found it hard to find a light or healthy dish. Fair price and you get 3 sides with every meal ordered so that's a bonus.
J. P.
Typical Korean food. The most impressive is their coverage of the types of Korean food. They really are able to serve so many dishes with original taste as Korean eat.
D. L.
Great good quality Korean BBQ selection. Little on the expensive side and they use electric instead of charcoal but the results are still good. Highly recommend.
D. ..
Wagyu was delicious, high quality at a reasonable price point. Helpful and attentive staff. Definitely recommend
D. P.
Maru is always a great time with friends. Make sure to give the BBQ a try as it’s quite rewarding learning how to cook the meats yourself using the grill. For those of age, their selection of soju will not disappoint.
Z. B.
Fantastic quick service at the table, just a bit of a wait at the door during busy periods. Lovely staff, delicious food. Definately recommend the dine in menu! Fried chicken board is fab, try the spicy chicken, I was licking the sauce off my fingers!!!
D. N.
Beef is of a good quality but was unseasoned completely. Had to ask for salt. Tables are small. Our table for 5 was 1200x600mm. The centre of course is the electric grill. Other than that was an enjoyable night.
K. V.
Always fresh and awesome food. The kimchi is to die for
