So glad that this restaurant is still as good as I remember from my visit years ago. Al fresco dining in the summer heat was fine because the drinks were cold. The food was delicious. Thinking about the paella makes my mouth water as I am writing this review. The service was friendly and warm. Really nice.

Great food, tasty but basic presentation. All cooked perfectly including jackfruit skewer which is interesting and tasty. Friendly and quick service. Clean and well maintained. Located in the prime location of Southbank which is fantastic. It’s great place but not fantastic, esp when compared to similar priced restaurant in prime location. Still highly recommended! :)

Food is absolutely amazing. The only problem is because it was my first time experience in this restaurant and we not familiar with the Spanish menu, so I feel like my husband and I ordered three appetizer...🤣 However those three dishes are delicious. We also like the watermelon-lime flavor mocktail here, (a little sour). We like the warm service here, we like the background music here. We will definitely come back again, highly recommended restaurant, worth a try. PS: must try Calamari!

Ola is a great tapas restaurant. The food was tasty, some of the portion sizes were lacking but nothing to score them down on. The negatives would be the chairs were quite hard and uncomfortable and waitresses were almost too responsive and were pestering us at one point asking for our order. I enjoyed the coconut lychee sangria and my table enjoyed sharing the paella and tapas and would love to come back again one day.

Great Spanish restaurant located in Brisbane city centre. Authentic paella and cocktails. The chilli margarita was very delicious..! Food is very tasty and looks amazing. Be warned that Quantity is small and prices are $$$. But worth it.

Great spot when the markets are on, good options for tapas plates, iberico jamon, and paella. The tapas plates are small as you'd expect, with the lamb skewer plates being 2 small skewers which end up being $8 each so quite expensive. The mocktails were all excellent, especially the 'What She's Having' watermelon one. And you can never go wrong with a Sangria, I wish I'd bought a jug!

Great service, loved the spicy margarita, and my sister enjoyed the range of gluten free options. The vegan options were fine, but I definitely think the coca de recapte flat bread was quite underwhelming in terms of flavour. Will definitely try the paella next time!

Great atmosphere & service. The octopus was well cooked and celery purée was very tasty. A lot of varieties of yummy Sangria. However, very disappointed with Paella, lack of seasoning and not as good as we expected, rice was over cooked and too mushy.

We chose the Degustacion which offers nine kinds of menu. It was soso if you think of the price(55PP). Also we asked for alternative menu instead of oyster but the waiter seemed to forget. After we got 8 menus, we waited for longer than we expected and we left without having the last menu.

From a Spanish guy: really recommend this restaurant! Awesome food, Spanish environment and the sangria is super tasty! Also, Cleber, the venue manager was super friendly and helpful explaining the menu and recommending the seafood paella, chicken and the bravas (my favourite). The cheesecake was amazing too with the berries ice cream! Fully recommended and we are coming back really soon!!

Ticks ALL the boxes - staff are amazing, friendly, helpful and attentive without detracting from the dining experience. Sangria is delicious, we had the watermelon and lime and honestly I’d come back for that even if the food was average. But, the food is to die for - everything we had was perfect, they catered to my food intolerances and every person at the table enjoyed every dish. We will definitely be back and sooner rather than later!

We walked in around 3pm for a late lunch and how wonderful that unlike many other restaurants they don't shut down their kitchen til 5pm. Excellent service and the food was delicious. I'm vegetarian and I was very IMPRESSED with their extensive menu and options allowing for different dietary needs. Lots of shared dish options as well. It will be my go to restaurant when I visit South Bank.On another occasion I had their vegetarian paella and it's just divine.

Fantastic food, service and atmosphere. So many gluten free options! We had the red sangria (yum!), chicken skewers, lamb skewers, sardines, octopus, baked goats cheese, and swordfish loin - everything was so beautifully cooked and fresh. Highly recommend!!

Ole is one of my favourite restaurants along the Southbank strip, I have been there so many times I’ve lost count and I love it every single time. From the great food to the excellent cocktails and sangria, you cannot go wrong. You are absolutely missing out if you don’t eat here!

Went here for a work break up, loved it so much I took my partner back for a celebration dinner. Unbelievably, the food was better the second time round. Staff are friendly, dinner was served promptly, the menu has amazing variety and the sangria was delicious. I recommend trying a little bit of everything. You won’t be disappointed

Had a fantastic series of tapas plates followed by an amazing Paella. The restaurant was understaffed due to covid isolations, yet the service matched the fantastic food. No matter how busy, every staff member made you feel as if there were no requests too hard. The Paella was cooked amazingly with some of the really great bits at the bottom of the deep dish.

I’ve been here a few times, it’s my go-to when I’ve had a difficult day at work. It’s an open style venue, the staff are friendly and professional, often have cool accents which adds to the vibe. It can be noisy during its busiest times, but I’m a bit aspie so take that with a grain of salt. I like the orange glaze pork belly, it’s a nice snack to go with a couple beers.

We’ve been to Ole many times as we always find the quality of the food and service is high. In saying that this time we were a little disappointed as there was obviously some miscommunication between floor & kitchen staff re service. Nevertheless the quality of the food was still great and we were not charged for the undelivered dish/s. We put it down to the possibility that they were affected by ‘COVID’ disruptions. We will return.

Shared 4 medium sized plates. Omelet was tasty, mushrooms plentiful and nicely cooked, the octopus was terrific, and flash fried calamari was good - I prefer it grilled. The sangria was great.

We went for an early dinner (27Jan2022) and had a selection of mainly small/medium dishes (tapas and raciones), including: calamari, lamb skewers, pork belly, roasted mushrooms, anchovies, tortilla, and Basque cheesecake for dessert. All were delicious. The only minor downside was the service which was a little slow and inconsistent for that time of the evening. Apart from that, this is our new favourite Spanish restaurant in Brisbane.

Last night we held an event at Ole for my 40th birthday. It was the perfect evening. We were a group of over 20 and had a section of the bar area set up for us. Right from the early planning stages, Rebecca was fantastic in helping me work out what was needed! Our waitress for the evening was the absolutely lovely Agatha, she made the night run so smoothly, nothing was too difficult for her, Agatha checked in with me regularly throughout the evening and looked after us all so well! The food was AMAZING, every dish brought out was perfect, my favourites were the lamb and rosemary croquettes and the pork belly. the only complaint from our guests was that they couldn’t eat enough of it! I enjoyed several cocktails, none all were delightful, though my favourite would have to have been the Coco Loco! I would recommend Ole to anyone - not just from an events point of view. We will be back!

Great Management, Will be back!! Tasty, modern, standout 🙌 Long Story Short. Unfortunately, we ordered the pork belly main and received the smaller Pinto's. Mistake acknowledged and it was offered complimentary due to the extra wait. Watercrest, pork belly, Seville oranges.. absolutely delish.. stand out. Unfortunately after waiting 20 minutes it never came due to a mistake in the kitchen. Really appreciate good customer service and high quality food that they stand behind. Service made right by management who cares. Accountability. Sucks... But turned an new customer that may never return to someone who would be back. 👍 Looking forward to updating this review with substance and trying a number of dishes off their menu.

Shared the Lamb Shoulder with friends. It was so flavourful and beautiful. Was able to just pull the bone from the meat. It was worth the price which is what you want when you pay a premium for a meal. Beautiful food and good service. Can't wait to go back.

The food is great with an extensive menu and it offers a relaxed atmosphere with attentive staff. However my only disappointment was that when the bill arrived the waitress asked us if we would like to add a tip. I don’t think this is appropriate as it catches you out and then you feel obligated to say yes. I questioned the manager who said the staff should not be asking this, but he didn’t really seem surprised so I’m guessing it’s standard procedure. Tips should be at the diners discretion not forced on them.

Visited the restaurant on a Tuesday night for my husband's birthday. The food isn't as good as before so we were quite disappointed. The chicken wings and pork belly were overcooked. The seafood paella was not flavoursome and the rice was a bit too hard. The whole service was relatively slow and inefficient, probably because they were understaffed in that evening.

Here's a restaurant for those who ❤ their Sangria. Olé offers a wide range of delicious Spanish dishes made with quality ingredients. Located on the busy strip of Little Stanley St you are close to the underground carpark, Imax cinemas and Southbank Parklands. Yesterday my sister and I tried the Olé Sunset Deal. For $50 for 2 people ($25pp) it was worth it. The Sunset Deal offers: 3 x Tapas and 2 x house beverages You can also change your Tapas for 1 x Paella dish instead. (Some seafood and other dishes may come at extra cost). For our tapas we chose their Calamari, Meatballs and Croquettes. Our top dish would be their Calamari, it was well seasoned, crispy and the garlic aioli dip was thick and creamy. Their White Sangria is a must try for those who love their fruity drinks. Such a refreshing beverage prefect for the warm Brisbane weather. Overall, this place would be great for a date, you have live entertainment from 6pm, cinemas close by and Southbank night markets across the road. We will most certainly be returning again.

Five of us had a very enjoyable Wednesday evening here. The service was excellent, very attentive and personable, and Spanish speaking wait staff adds to it. We ordered a mushroom starter, it was nice and we ordered the chicken paella and the seafood paella for mains. They were both very tasty (I cannot give five stars because they were very light on the seafood and the chicken, 80% rice, I expect a little more). The churros dessert was nice. Total bill was $175 between five, very reasonable.

Ordered small plates to try a variety such as the torreznos, spiced potatoes and crispy calamari. Everything was delicious so we ordered the crispy bread with grated tomato and it was heavenly. I would highly recommend trying their crispy calamari and crispy bread with grated tomato (pan cot tomate). I didn't even get to take a photo of the bread because it was so good. I visited Olé Restaurant on a Wednesday night so it wasn't very busy but the music and open kitchen made up for the vibe.

This strip on Brisbane’s South Bank is truly amazing - I always assume it’s going to be an over priced tourist trap but there are many, well priced quality restaurants - and Ole is one of them! Great vibe, wine and atmosphere, there are also fantastic staff who make you feel welcomed! We went the vegetarian options because of a friend - and everything was super tasty! Definitely try the pumpkin flat bread! Just awesome!!!!!!!! Love this tapas bar!

Huge pink gin with strawberries @olerestaurant 🍓 great way to cool off on a sunny hot day. We also tried some of their tapas, some were good and some okay. Our favorite was the mushrooms with egg and fried olives. The pata negra was good but a bit disappointed that you had to assemble the tomato sandwich yourself. The patatas bravas was the biggest disappointment, they were soggy. So overall a pretty good place to go for a few bites, but choose your tapas carefully.

Good margaritas. My food was average but still very pleasant. While teh calamari entree was superb, the huge paella the 4 of us shared was a little on the salty side and I got quite ill that night. No-one else did, only me, so not sure what caused it - maybe I was unfortunate and had a mussel that was off? The sangria was quite pleasant but I must admit I have tasted nicer. The negative was the extreme noise (the place was PACKED) which made it difficult to have a nice conversation with the friends at our table. Still, it's worth a visit if you love Spanish tapas.

We had a great time at Olé. We had a group of 5 for dinner which we all decided to get a Seafood Paella and share a bunch of tapas. This was a great decision as we got to really experience a range of dishes and they nailed a classic with the Paella. The only tiny thing to comment on that was underwhelming was that there didn't seem to be a consistent waiter for our table. We asked for drinks which took 11 minutes to get to our table and we had to continually ask any waiter that went by to clear plates or refill drinks as it didn't seem to occur organically that night. This was a really minor thing and outside of this the whole experience was perfect.

They advertised a set menu of varying prices which peaked our interests as we like to try different things, and this can remove some of that pressure because we don't have to decide on dishes. We were a party of 5 having dinner at 7:30pm last Saturday night. The place was packed with a lovely atmosphere. The food was great - standout dishes for me were the shared anchovies and the seafood paella. Compliments to the kitchen. The service however, was disappointing. We ordered our drinks 5 minutes before placing our food order. 4 of our drinks finally arrived after our second dish had been served. One drink, a $17 Marguerita, was missing. Eventually it was found, and delivered to our table. I have tasted better Marguerita from a slushie machine. Clearly not much care was taken in making it. There was an apology for the delay in the drinks service, with a mumbled excuse about the bar having problems. As our table was near the bar I could see that there had been only one staff member in there catering for the orders. I also observed patrons coming directly up to the bar, ordering drinks and being served first, while the table orders were banking up. However I do believe that the waiter forgot to put our drinks order through until after our food had arrived. Whoever was managing the front of house did not do a good job. The restaurant can and should do better.

Delicious sangria for a reasonable price (the jugs are huge), tasty paella with a vego option that was actually legitimately large enough for 2-3 people, plus tasty sides (we got the cabra and the aceitunas). We accidentally make the booking for the wrong time, and showed up an hour early -- I was grateful that the staff quickly found us a table anyway. If I had one criticism it'd be that the cabra entree should have a little more bread served along with the cheese. We ended up running out of the bread halfway through the cheese, so I ended up just eating several large fork-fulls of warm cheese on its own. Not the worst thing in the world, but for the price they should have more than a few tiny pieces of crispy bread to eat with that big mound of warm cheese.

The girl with the bleached hair that greeted us and primarily served us was rude from start to finish, frowned the entire time, dismissive, snappy and had constant attitude. Disappointing, because the food was so good but the staff really lets the place down.

Visiting from the Gold Coast for the weekend, we decided to book here after reading the menu online. There's a wide variety of Spanish foods: tapas of course and the famous Paella. Having been to Spain, I can say the flavours are exactly the same as what I have tasted! (I heard the chef is from Madrid). Portions are great too. Tapas are perfect to share if you are in a group. To add the service was amazing, I was so impressed with how much care they showed. When we got there it was pretty busy and we were seated at a table right infront of the kitchen, near the bar with really loud music. I got a bit overwhelmed with the coming and going behind me and the noise, and I asked a waiter if we could change tables. He immediately saw I was really overwhelmed and he went to check if there were any tables available. There weren't any at that point but after a few minutes he went out of his way to organise and he came back to let us know he had a table for us. Once we were seated the waiter and the manager (I think he was the manager) really made sure we were happy. We didn't even have to bring a thing to our new table, they insisted to do it for us. We felt very taken care of and special considering how busy it was. All in all I definitely reccomend Olé! They have everything right! Will definitely be back! Thanks Olé!

We had a group booking for 12 people on saturday night. We had to have a set menu over 10 people which we got the form for and send it back with our choice the $35.00 plus the Lamb Shoulder $7.50 each. When we got the table was set for 10 which was fixed by moving people around. The food was very nice most courses where 4 plates so 3 people per plate and we had 3 calamari plates, which was not very much for 12. We were suppose to only have 1 shoulder of lamb but they gave us a second one. One shoulder is definitely not enough for 12 people. Also 2 jugs of sangria and some cheerios were organised by AJ for the mistake they made. It was really busy but the staff were very nice. It was a great night. Thank you for going the extra mile to sort us all out.

Went on Friday night. We arrived about 6pm and were seated immediately. Within moments we were given menus and ordered drinks. The food came quickly. I ordered 2 tapas dishes and my partner had the mussels which he said were okay but a bit expensive. The anchovy and blue cheese and lamb skewers were delicious as was the jug of Sangria. Had lunch here with my partner and 2 year old daughter. Service was excellent from the start and colouring pencils and paper were provided to keep the little one occupied. Amazing food, atmosphere and service. The waitstaff quickly got us a table even though it was a busy Saturday night which we appreciated as we had to catch a flight afterwards. The tapas were delicious and varied, brought out in the perfect order for a meal. Of note was the delicious calamari, interesting mushroom and egg dish and boldly flavoured lamb skewers. The food was complemented by a delicious jug of rose, vodka, watermelon and lime sangria. It was the best drink I have ever had and decently priced at $35 for a jug that can be shared comfortably between 4. Definitely would come here again, whether it be with a small or large group.

I went there in a group for a birthday. The staff are friendly and never too far away. There was lots of variety in the tapas we ordered with lots of great flavors. Also had the seafood paella- yum. Most of us had sangria to drink and they have a nice selection to choose from. Located next to Southbank in the restaurant precinct the restaurant is open air yet still has lots of ambiance. There was a guy playing Spanish guitar that night who was very talented and yet the music didn't interfere with conversation. Loved his music and added to the night's enjoyment.

Bread &/or toast seemed to be a recurring theme through a number of the Tapas dishes, so be aware of how much bread you're ordering. We shared a whole heap of things and I'd have to say the Lamb Shoulder was 'to-die-for'. The dish was more than enough for all 8 of us to get a decent taste, some went back for seconds. Service was good and attentive. Some of the best food I've had along South Bank recently.

Had a read of the reviews before i started mine. Agree mostly with Emily's. The service was great. The food is a little pricey but when you order as a group and share it evens out. The four of us (adults) ordering Friday night dinner to share and two bottles of wine got away with a bill of just over $250. Seems reasonable to me. The food is tasty and varied. You're not going to get fat here. But I find that my problem is staying thin, so I'm somewhat grateful. It's about taste for me rather than portion size. The staff spoke with tremendous Spanish accents. Great ambience. The food is Australianised. But so what? Go to London and some if the best Indian I've ever tasted is there and it's been adapted from the original. Would I go there again? For sure. Is it on my list of must eats? Not quite. There are many other establishments down at Southbank to explore first.

For the second year running we chose to celebrate joint birthdays at Olé. We thoroughly enjoyed it in 2019 and also again this year. While we had more bodies last year and were able to make a booking - the restaurant only takes bookings for 10 or more - this year our numbers were down and with only 6, were not able to make a booking. Because it was a Sunday, we were able to get a table without any drama and our (adult) lunch was excellent. Service was good - and we all had a great time. We were 6 adults and 1 toddler - in a high chair - and although she tried some of the calamari, bread and grated tomato, most of the other items on the menu weren't to her liking or taste. She's a game little gastronome but some of the items on offer just weren't doing it for her. We enjoyed - 2 x pan con tomate (fabulous) ; 2 x patatas bravas (seriously good); 1 x croquetas (mushroom, manchego and caramelised onion); 2 x Manchego fritas (AMAZING); 1 x calamares (great); 2 x Jamon Iberico (not a thing left!) and 1 x Jamon Serrano (ditto!!); a churros shared by 2; 2 x Chocolate Crema Catalana and 2 x Helado del Dia (ice cream) ... as well as quite a few wines, cocktails and beers... We did not stint on food or drinks and after dessert was served - with the toddler ordering/getting 2 scoops of ice cream - which we had to actually chase the waitress to supply - and arrived about 10 minutes after all the other desserts - she came back to the table with a 'colouring-in' sheet which was actually the children's menu!!!!!!!!!!!!! Would have been really GREAT if that could have been provided to her Mum or Dad about 3 hours prior! So if you've got kidlets and are dining at Olé, ASK FOR THE CHILDREN'S MENU so they can actually have something to eat too. Honestly, I was gobsmacked that the waitress brought it to the table within 10 minutes of us leaving. Truly... why? And yes, I asked her whether she was aware that the colouring in sheet and coloured pencils she provided was actually a children's menu and she said "Yes." Unbelievable. Put a pall on the afternoon and experience. With about 7 other restaurants in the South Bank precinct closed since the same time last year, perhaps Olé should up their game.

There is very little in the way of cuisine that you cannot get in Melbourne, including Spanish. This is the last place my girlfriend and I ate during my brief holiday to visit her. We'd just been for a swim at the nearby open-air pool and were hot and tired. This place turned out to be the perfect spot to recover. It was relaxed, shaded, and most importantly great value. We arrived in time for their lunch special - 4 tapas and 2 sangria for $49. The tapas were unexpectedly large servings so we couldn't even finish it. It was really delicious though, and the patatas bravas really reminded us of our visit to Barcelona a couple of years ago. Dishes could be described as average to good and as other reviewers have said, do not go here for large bookings. We had to prompt staff for food service and were waiting a long time between courses. We were a group of about 15 and were told during the booking that they could split the bill for us as long as we all paid at the same time. It came time to pay the bill and we were told that we had been misinformed over the phone and the bill couldn't be split, meaning that one person had to cover the huge bill and everyone else was stuck with ATM fees to pay them back. Was costly for an average quality dining experience, probably won't be coming back.
